11/30/24 Saturday 11:05 P.M. I woke up at 9:30 P.M. I made my bed. I went outside. I picked up the mail. I ate my usual breakfast of pineapple chunks, fruit cocktail, Jimmy Dean sausage egg and cheese croissant, two English muffins with Smart Balance spread, diet cranberry juice and vitamins and supplements, and an instant coffee outside.
11/30/24 Saturday 10:20 A.M. I ate four White Castle cheeseburger sliders with a glass of Poland Spring water. I moved the two fully charged regular jump start systems back to the floor of the sweater closet in the hallway. I will now shut down the HP laptop, and I will go to bed.
11/30/24 Saturday 9:40 A.M. I went downtown to the Junior Chamber of Commerce Park, and I sat out for a while. I toured www.cvs.com , but their bathroom is broken again. I bought a Daisy croissant for $2.14. I then drove down to the Board of Education Parking lot Veterans monument bench. I used the bathroom at www.starbucks.com . I ate the croissant in front of the Senior and the Arts Center. I then went to the Acme grocery store at 160 West Putnam Avenue. I bought four 6 packs of Sandwich Brothers cheese burger sandwiches for $7.59 each six pack, a 42 ounce Smart Balance spread for $9.79, and two four packs of sugar free Chaboni yogurt for $4.99 each 4 pack for $50.13 total. I then returned home. I put away the food. I put the grey bag back in the car. I drank an instant coffee outside. I chatted with a friend. I filed this report. I will now go outside again.
11/30/24 Saturday 6:30 A.M. I assembled the telescope. I placed it on the right side of the Vizio TV mini computer setup. I threw out the telescope box.

11/30/24 Saturday 5:00 A.M. I channel surfed. I put the fully charged lithium jump starters back in the bedroom bookcase. I will leave the regular jump starters charging all day, since they take longer to charge up. The lithium jump starters do not seem to lose charge over time.
I will now go outside again and drink another instant coffee. Despite once knowing somebody from Brazil forty years ago whom claimed to have twenty million acres of coffee plantation in Brazil, the local coffee shops including www.starbucks.com treat me like a dirt bag for some odd reason. I usually only use Starbucks to go to the bathroom. Older people my age of 74.5 years do not need to hang out downtown in the early morning hours in the winter. Let the younger generation hang out in the cold and when their cell phone batteries get cold, their cell phones do not work as well.
11/30/24 Saturday 3:55 A.M. I rested. I went outside, and I drank an instant coffee. During the season of 1977 and 1978 out on Nantucket, I only made $2.15 an hour before taxes as a pot scrubber and dishwasher. I paid $5 a night for a bed at 31 India Street. About the only expense I had besides doing laundry was on some days, when I had the day off, I would buy an expensive roast beef sandwich at the A&P grocery store on the harbor for about $8. Since I was working at night, I never went to bars. In the season of 1983, I made $8.75 an hour before taxes as the head dishwasher at Le Languedoc restaurant. I paid $60 a week for a simple basement room at the Grennon's guest house on Hussey street. With the extra income, I did buy a pink La Coste polo shirt for $50 and a pair of Addias Country sneakers for $40 at Murray's Togery shop on Main Street. I learned whenever I left the island what little savings I had did not go far, when I took off traveling.

11/29/24 Friday 9:10 A.M. I chatted with a friend again. I went out to the Stop and Shop at 161 West Putnam Avenue. I bought two 6 packs of Stop and Shop English muffins for $1.99 each six pack, six 20 ounce cans of Stop and Shop pineapple chunks for $1.69 each, a 64 ounce Almond Breeze vanilla unsweetened almond milk for $5.99 and three six packs of White Castle cheeseburger sliders for $7.29 each six pack for $41.98 total. I then returned home. I put the food away. I put the grey bag back in the car. I sat outside.

11/28/24 Thursday 12:35 A.M. At Le Languedoc restaurant out on Nantucket in my day, a lot of the waiters were from the Stowe, Vermont ski patrol, where it can be 40 degrees Fahrenheit below zero on top of the mountain in the winter. The Grennons that ran Le Languedoc also had a bar restaurant in Stowe, Vermont call, "Sister Kate's where I worked for about two weeks in April 1977 cleaning up the restaurant after the ski season. All of the Grennon's father's law books were at Sister Kate's. The Watson family of www.ibm.com back then owned the Ski Resort next to Stowe called, "Smuggler's Notch." The Grennons had a part time employee named Ian Greenshield from Montreal whom lived above the fire house on Nantucket. After Nantucket, I once saw him on the beach in Kennebunk, Maine. He also built barns in Stowe, Vermont. He claimed to have been Jackie Onassis' body guard in Stowe, Vermont.

11/27/24 Wednesday 11:10 P.M. I put a folding oak table in front of the mahogany bureau with the television on it in the bedroom. I have the television sound bar and remote controls on it. From there I moved the small dark oak end table to the left side of the bathroom entrance with the pineapple lamp from the bedroom on it. Thus the bathroom now has an always on light for convenient use.

There used to be a television show about Nantucket https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wings_(1990_TV_series)#:~:text=The%20series%20takes%20place%20primarily,of%20the%20Nantucket%20Hunting%20Association. . Around 1977 Eastern Airlines use to practice taking off and landing at the Nantucket airport. I recall taking Eastern airlines to the Bahamas from Fort Lauderdale in 1978. I think in February 1981, I flew round trip from New York to Washington D.C. on Eastern Airline. The nearby airport seems quite busy with the holiday traffic.

11/27/24 Wednesday 6:25 A.M. In covering the waterfront in various locations, I had a classmate at Greenwich Country Day School whose family owned a shipping line. My stepfather also had a wife whose family owned a shipping line. The Monsanto Company also used to have their corporate headquarters on the north side of the New York Library in the same building as W.R. Grace and Company shipping lines. My classmate at Lake Forest College who was related to the Harriman family that used to own a shipping line. My first girl friend at Lake Forest College was a great grand daughter of Admiral Perry that opened up trade with Japan. Sooner or later the railroad runs out, and the shipping companies get involved. I will now shut down the HP laptop. I will eat a yogurt. I will then go to bed.

Some people with inherited wealth think they are smart, but frequently they spend their time associating with others with similar outlooks, and they are not necessarily the experts, they think they are. The libraries of the world are filled with millions of books that nobody ever reads and frequently some of them were written to rewrite history for the people in charge. At least my notes are up to date from my local view point.
11/27/24 Wednesday 5:35 A.M. In preparation in going to Crete, I read the book by Mary Renault, "The King Must Die." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_King_Must_Die It is about the ancient civilization in Knossos on Crete. It was destroyed by the volcano San Terrini near Greece which caused great destruction a long time ago. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santorini_caldera . I did take six years of high school Latin, so I read a lot of Julius Caesar's writings. He was smart enough to build a fortified fort every night in his military occupations. I also took six years of high school French, so I read a bit of Voltaire also. However, that was a long time ago that I studied foreign languages. I do like chatting with the rabbits outside at night in French. I warn them in French that the French are known for eating rabbits and horse meat and snails.
11/27/24 Wednesday 5:05 A.M. My recent experience in the past 41 years in Greenwich, Connecticut has been observing Greenwich Avenue for better or worse. About five years ago in January I chatted with Jim Comey who was Bill Clinton's head of the FBI. I was complaining about a You Tube video about how bad the State of Illinois is, and he told me the whole country is like that, and Greenwich is as good as it gets. Also about five years ago in the summer, I saw Elon Musk walking Greenwich Avenue with his two brothers outside the former Tesla showroom, so I guess rich people still take a peak at downtown here. I know lot of people visit out from Manhattan and on upcoming holidays, some come to visit elderly relatives. Since I have been observing here for so long having been a professional photographer in Boston, one thing I have noticed is that a lot of senior citizens tend to look the same. I sit out on Greenwich Avenue these days instead of walking the entire length back and forth of Greenwich Avenue. I quit doing that when Covid 19 broke out. I was mostly worried about having knee and hip problems which happens from too much exercise. The younger generation downtown still seem adept at walking downtown. In my youth in the winter and spring of 1972, I did a lot of walking in various European cities in my travels. In Manhattan and Key West, I did a lot of walking. Also in Nantucket not only did a I do a lot of walking, but I also did a lot of jogging. In the fresh air of Nantucket, Kennebunkport, and Key West away from the big city pollution of the New York City area, I always felt a lot more energetic. Well, I can still type too based on my experience. I took typing on an IBM Selectric at Eastern Middle summer school, when I was about fifteen years old in 1965. A relative of the famous Morano Bridge sat next to my in typing class. Alas having lived down South in Alabama and Florida until I started Greenwich Country Day school in 1962, my spelling and grammar is not that good. At the Carnegie Library in Decatur, Alabama; I did read some sea novels though like, "The Wreck of the Mary Deare." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wreck_of_the_Mary_Deare . In fact the longest sea voyage I have even been on besides the Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard Ferries, is a round trip cruise in the spring of 1972 from Piraeus in Athens, Greece to Crete and back. Thus I probably do not have my sea legs.

11/27/24 Wednesday 3:35 A.M. As a matter of local medical dispute, in the late Spring of 1975, I was thrown by a palomino horse on the Greenwich Country Day Lacrosse Field head first into either a stone wall or a tree by the fourth hole of Greenwich Country Club. In September 1975, I came down with Steppe throat which the Greenwich Hospital treated with tetracycline antibiotics. However earlier that summer in camping out on Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket, I might have gotten Lyme Disease which on Nantucket, they called Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. Also in the winter of 1979, when John Bolton and myself were driving from Key West back to his sister's in Daytona, I stopped by the Miami airport to change into a suit. While jogging in the airport to retrieve my shaving kit from the Pan Am VIP lounge, a large African American police officer tackled me, and slammed my head hard against the marble floor. Also I have covered many pubs in Manhattan hardly ever drinking, I know some people in Manhattan give tourists Mickey's that mess them up. That happened to me before I flew to Oslo, Norway in February 1983.
11/27/24 Wednesday 2:45 A.M. After, I left Nantucket in the summer of 1975, I rested and relaxed at home in Greenwich after the stress of being homeless out on Nantucket. That fall, I read the book by William Manchester, "the Glory and the Dream." I read in the New York Times, they were going to start the Nelson Rockefeller and Henry Ford school of politics and finance at Yale College as a graduate school. I hitchhiked up to Yale, and I spent a week homeless at Yale sleeping on the red leather couch in the basement of the Yale Law School. I did not eat any food, so I was starving. On a previous trip to Yale that summer, I recall being put up at a Tennis Fraternity at Yale, but this time nobody put me up. I did look up the assistant chaplain at Yale whom had been the Chaplain at the Taft School, when I was there. When I returned home to Greenwich, I was arrested for no reason and hospitalized at Fairfield Hills, and the only thing wrong with me was that I had not eaten in week. At the Fairfield Hills Hospital there was lots of food, and I got to play pool with somebody that I met up on Nantucket, when I was there. His grandmother owned the largest house on Nantucket. I refused to sign a release form saying my legal rights had been violated. After two months, I was released to a half way house in New Haven in December 1975, where I used the Yale Library, and I ate lots of food. At the first of the year, I moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I worked at Daniel Construction as an expeditor for $550 a month after taxes and $150 rent a month on a one bedroom apartment. One of my work colleagues was from the Gosnelle family that had founded Nantucket. I explored Atlanta and Southeast on weekends. I then returned back up North with a U-haul trailer around the first of July 1976. I went to the Bicentennial Celebrations in New York Harbor, and I saw Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip touring Bloomingdales department store. I then went to Nantucket, with my 1966 Chevrolet Biscayne that I had bought in Greenville, South Carolina for $400. I stayed in Nantucket for about a week at the Pollard Guest House next to the White Elephant Hotel. I then returned to Greenwich where not much was happening. I did apply for unemployment though. Around the third week of September 1976, I went out to the 24 hour A&P to buy frozen orange juice in the early morning hours. I had my belongings in the car, so I started driving South. I had an Allstate Insurance Card to cash a $20 check at any Sears store, so I made it down South to Fort Lauderdale in two days. Not much was going on. I filed for Interstate Benefits for Unemployment, but nobody would give me a job without a fixed address. I did meet a few people, and I ate peanut butter sandwiches at the Peanut Butter Palace homeless shelter next to the Swimming Hall of Fame. I lived out of my car. Around Halloween, I drove down to Key West, but it was all boarded up, and nothing going on, so I returned back to Fort Lauderdale. Around the first of the year, I had my car towed for two many parking tickets at the Swimming Hall of Fame, so I took a Grey Hound Bus to Key West, where I was still homeless. About the middle of January 1977, Jimmy Eldert showed up there out of the University of New Hampshire, and found me homeless. I recall he put me up in a trailer next to the Boca Chica Naval station. Around the first of April, I got six months of unemployment checks at General Delivery in Key West, since I had refilled for interstate benefits. Jimmy and I took a bus out of Key West, and I got my car out of the pound in Fort Lauderdale, We then went to Disneyworld for a day and St. Augustine. We stopped by to see Hurley Haywood in Jacksonville, Florida. I then gave Jimmy $400 to fly back to the University of New Hampshire. I then drove North to Greenwich. I got a U-haul trailer, and I stored my personal items from the garage in Greenwich in a barn in Norwich, Vermont. I then returned back to Nantucket. I gave away the car, and my stuff in the car to the Hospital Thrift Shop on India Street, and I recall leaving the island twice hitch hiking to Provincetown, the University of New Hampshire, and Portland, Maine and Boston before returning to Nantucket for the season. On Nantucket, I worked for about two weeks opening sea scallops. I then worked as a dishwasher at the Club Car. I worked at the Skipper Bakery making grinder rolls and finally at the Gordon Folger Hotel as a pot scrubber until about August 1977. I then started working at the Le Languedoc restaurant as a pot scrubber. I stayed in shared room in a bed at 31 India Street mostly working from 4 P.M. to 4 A.M. Pot scrubbers and dishwashers after the restaurant closes have to clean up the whole restaurant after it closes. I hardly ever saw Jimmy Eldert around although he was a neighbor, since he got off work earlier as a bus boy at India House. Just before Thanksgiving Time, I left the island, and with a U-Haul truck, I moved my personal items from Norwich, Vermont to a relative's house in the Philadelphia area. I then hitch hiked back down to Fort Lauderdale, where I got a job a dishwasher at La Vielle Maison, in Boca Raton, Florida. I camped outside at the Boca Inlet. Around February 1978, they started building an expensive condo, where I was camping out, so I left the area. I went to Paradise Island in the Bahamas for three days where someone from London put me up. I then returned homeless to Key West. Jimmy Eldert was back there, and I met John Bolton whom had $1,500 cash. We stayed at the abandoned Casa Marina Hotel while it was under going renovation. Around April 1978, I got an income tax return, so John Bolton, and I tried hiking the Appalachian Trail for four days, and then hitch hiked back to Key West. At the first of May 1978, we hitch hiked to Washington D.C., and then took the Amtrak to Stamford, Connecticut. We stayed at a relative's in Greenwich for a couple of days, and then we returned to 31 India Street on Nantucket. John worked at Cumberland Farms, and I worked as a pot scrubber at Le Languedoc mostly all night and the early morning hours. Around the third week of October 1978, I bought the $150 1971 Subaru wagon, and John and myself drove across country. We did not know Jimmy Eldert had ended up in Santa Cruz, California when he left Key West the winter of 1978. John and myself also worked on Lincoln Avenue painting an historical house over looking the Harbor. When I returned to Nantucket for the season of 1983, I became the head dishwasher at La Languedoc working from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. lunch shift and 4 P.M. to 4 A.M. dinner shift six of seven days a week for $8.75 an hour before taxes.

11/27/24 Wednesday 12:20 A.M. On the map of Magellan which I have a copy of, Nantucket is called Santa Cruz, so possibly the Spanish were ventured to Nantucket before the British. Jimmy Eldert who worked at the India House on Nantucket had a maternal grandmother from the Joy family whom were one of the original families on Nantucket. There is even a Joy monument on Main Street out on Nantucket. I know somebody here in Greenwich whose family used to own all of Nantucket, but they gave it to the United States government. Billy Baldwin the interior decorator whom decorated the White House for Jackie Kennedy vacationed on Nantucket from the 1930s. He looked a bit like the Duke of Windsor and knew the Duke of Windsor too. On the second floor of the Nantucket library, it is full of thousands of books on genealogy, so somebody out there used to keep track of that. The Reverend William Sloan Coffin at Yale University was also from one of the original founding families on Nantucket. Benjamin Franklin's mother was from the Folger family on Nantucket, so he got to go to Harvard University as the youngest of thirteen children. Richard Nixon's ambassador to Viet Nam named Henry Cabot Lodge Junior had one of the biggest house on Main Street on Nantucket. The R.M.S. Republic sank off Nantucket with a billion dollars of gold in 1913. A Taft classmate that once lived at Mar Largo in Palm Beach, also owned the Road House Bar on Nantucket. His father was the treasurer of Wolfson Construction that owned Merritt Chapman and Scott salvage company that had the salvage rights for the R.M.S. Republic. 75% of the year round population on Nantucket are women. Lurettia Mott from women's suffrage and Maria Mitchell the astronomer were from Nantucket. In the book Moby Dick by Herman Melville, there is one page describing Nantucket as a barnacle incrusted island. Those Nantucket whalers were all over the world, so they had an international network. There is a Nantucket Cove Village on the ocean side of the Hearst Castle San Simeon in California and there used to be a Nantucket restaurant in Malibu, California.

My friends the world travelers from Sea Island, Georgia do not get back from their cruise of the Caribbean and round trip cruise of the Atlantic until the first week of December 2024. They are going to visit the Canary Islands, so maybe they will learn something about volcanoes.
11/26/24 Tuesday 2:15 A.M. In the summer of 1967, when my family moved out of Greenwich to Wellesley, Mass., I recall that summer going out to Nantucket briefly. I ran into some people from Greenwich, and they put me up with about a dozen other kids at an apartment on Orange Street. As I recall in the summer of 1968 or 1969, I went back out to Nantucket again, and I ran into my freshman roommate at Lake Forest College at the Salty Dog bar on Main Street on Nantucket. I think in the summer of 1970, I did a day trip to Nantucket with a friend whose father worked for British Airways in Boston. I think in the summer of 1970 or 1971, I went back out to Nantucket again, and a friend had friends meet me at the ferry dock on Nantucket, and they put me up in a bunk room near the Jetties Beach. I did not return to Nantucket until the summer 1975, when I camped out at a commune on Fairgrounds Road. I returned briefly in the summer of 1976 with a car, when I stayed at the Pollard Guest House near the White Elephant Hotel. I finally returned in April 1977 after traveling around South Florida, until Thanksgiving Time in November 1977 working at the Gordon Folger Hotel and the Le Languedoc restaurant as a pot scrubber. I returned with a friend from Long Island in the spring of 1978, and we stayed out there painting and working as a pot scrubber at the Le Languedoc restaurant leaving with the 1971 Subaru wagon I bought for $150 and put a new clutch in around the end of October 1978 to drive across country. I recall returning back with the friend in the spring of 1979, but not much was going on. I did not return to Nantucket until April 1983, when I got back from Oslo, Norway after building the garage apartment out on Long Island for ten months. Then as mentioned below I left Nantucket for good. Friends at Lake Forest College were always talking about Nantucket, but the richest ones I never saw out there. Thus I was not a day tripper.

11/26/24 Tuesday 1:15 A.M. I rested a bit. I went outside. As I recall, I left Nantucket at the end of the season in November 22, 1983, when the Le Languedoc restaurant had closed for the season. I took the last ferry to Hyannis, and I found a pub in downtown Hyannis, but nobody chatted with me. It was the 20th anniversary of President Kennedy's death. A local school teacher had me over to his house, and we chatted for a long time. I then walked over to the Hyannis airport, and I sat up in the airport all night. At 6 A.M. the following day, Ted Kennedy walked into the airport. I caught the 11 A.M. flight to Le Guardia in New York City, and Jackie Onassis was on the plane. In Manhattan, I caught Amtrak to Toronto, Ontario, Canada, were I stayed for about two weeks sleeping on the couch at the Anglican Seminary Library at the University of Toronto and exploring the city. I even used the indoor swimming pool at the University of Toronto. When I had to leave the library, I took the Amtrak back to Manhattan. I walked around for a week staying up until 4 A.M. at a familiar pub. I kept my baggage at the East Side Airline terminal and would clean up at the tennis club upstairs. I then caught the shuttle to Le Guardia, but my father in Florida did not want me to visit, and told me to go to Greenwich. I caught the shuttle to Greenwich, and since I had swollen ankles, I checked into the Greenwich Hospital for a brief stay. Social Services gave me $100 to leave town, so I walked around Manhattan for another week, and I then returned back to Greenwich Hospital for a complete $7,500 physical for a week that welfare paid for, where they determined that I was disabled with a protein metabolic disorder. Social Services got me a small attic room at 100 Milbank Avenue, and gave me $200 a month welfare money to live on. I recall going to Manhattan three times around Christmas Time, and then I just stayed in Greenwich continually when in June 1984, when I moved to 700 Steamboat Road to a studio apartment. I took my dinners at the Greenwich Hospital cafeteria. Around the fall of 1987, a relative bought me a used Volkswagen Dasher, so I was able to move around bit more. I do recall returning with a friend that summer for a weekend on Nantucket. Such is life.

I bought a 59 ounce Florida Natural ruby red grapefruit juice for $4.99, four 64 ounce Ocean Spray diet cranberry juice for $3.10 each, and a 64 ounce Almond Breeze vanilla unsweetened almond milk for $5.69 for $23.08 total. I then went to the Stop and Shop at 161 West Putnam Avenue. I bought a five gallon bottle of Poland Spring water with bottle return for $9.99, a 12 pack of Jimmy Dean sausage, egg, and cheese croissants for $16.99 and three six packs of White Castle cheese burger sliders for $6.59 each six pack for $46.75 total. I then went to the Putnam Shell at 401 West Putnam Avenue. They have new gasoline pumps there. I bought $27.07 of self service premium gasoline for $4.199 a gallon for 6.446 gallons at odometer reading of 126300 miles for 87.3 miles driven since Wednesday October 30, 2024 for 13.543 miles per gallon in local traffic. I then returned home. I used my little folding hand truck to bring up the 42 pound bottle of water. I then brought up the two grey bags, and I put the food away, and I put the grey bags and the folding hand truck back in the car. I drank an instant coffee outside. I filed this report. I will now go outside again.

The British are really thin, so the ambassador to the Court of Saint James should be a thin person like my friend whose grandfather was the last living member of Queen Victoria's Honor guard. With my Dutch connections, I could be ambassador to the Netherlands, but I would be looking for a bathroom every hour or two, but I also have six years of high school French for ambassador to Paris.

I went outside, and I drank an instant coffee. My friend that lives ten minutes from Joe Biden in Delaware could be the new United States ambassador to the Court of Saint James, since although W. Averill Harriman's sister was his aunt, his father was a Republican and started Jack Kemp in politics up in Buffalo, New York. He also attended the George H.W. Bush inaugural with myself and a friend. He is also a cold weather person coming from East Aurora, New York on the Canadian border. He has Canadian contacts also.
11/20/24 Wednesday 2:55 P.M. The Scott family have been around since the earliest days of New Amsterdam. According to one of oldest books in Greenwich Library listing all of the settlers in Manhattan in 1700, there were two Scott family farms in Manhattan in 1700. However, they only had daughters, and one of those daughters married into the Jay family, so the Scott family property in Manhattan became part of the Jay family property in Manhattan. One of the Scotts was the sexton of one of the earliest Dutch Reform churches in Manhattan, and I think his farm in Manhattan was on the Hudson River. Another Scott family member had one of the earliest farms in Princeton, New Jersey which is marked by historical markers there. The Scott family were also a first family of Virginia, and there is still a Scott family plantation in Virginia. The Windfield Scott family town house is still west of Fifth Avenue on 13th Street in Greenwich Village, and is now the Italian studies center for New York University. It is across the street from the Forbes building. I know the neighborhood, but most of the people in that area are interested in Wall Street not History of the founding families of New York City.

I then went to www.cvs.com on Greenwich Avenue, and I used the bathroom there. I bought three jars of Nescafe instant coffee with coupons for $2.97 total. I sat out in the park across the street, and I chatted with a friend on my cell phone. I then went to the Stop and Shop at 161 West Putnam Avenue, and I bought four P.F. Chang chicken bag dinners for $5.99 each less $5 off a $20 purchase and a six pack of Stop and Shop English muffins for $1.99 for $20.95 total. I then returned home. I put away my groceries. I put the grey bag back in the car. I reset the Check Engine light with my device that one plugs underneath the dashboard. There is nothing wrong with the car. I drank an instant coffee outside. I filed this report. I will now go outside again.

As I recall in the fall of 1977, I also lived above the Taft Laundromat near the harbor in exchange for painting the apartment. I lived there with someone from Fairfield, Connecticut who was a skier in Stowe, Vermont; but he later moved to Martha's Vineyard. I recall giving him my Colonel's Air Force NORAD flight suit that I had found in the bushes along the Florida Keys highway, when I hitchhiked there.
Although I have lived most of my life in Greenwich with my experience in Nantucket, I feel like the ambassador from Nantucket to Greenwich. Having lived and worked in the Boston area when my family were at Polaroid, Nantucket made a bit more sense to me knowing how the "Old Guard" Boston people tend to be very traditional.

The Le Languedoc restaurant out on www.nantucket.net did Novelle French cuisine, but I guess as food got more expensive out there, they might not do it as much anymore. I know they used a lot of garlic and onions and probably olive oil and mysterious herbs and spices.
About the only thing I learned how to cook was a cottage cheese omelet made like a crepe cooking both sides in melted butter with room temperature eggs, so it is very puffy. I did learn also how to peel lots of garlic and onions and pick green beans. Beside dishwashing and prep work, after the restaurant closed at 10 or 11 P.M., I had to work until 4 A.M. cleaning up the kitchen. The last chore was 150 pound garbage cans of wasted food to be hauled outside. I originally started out as a pot scrubber in the season of 1977 as a pot scrubber at the Gordon Folger Hotel next to a hot 130 degree Fahrenheit cast iron stove, only to become a pot scrubber later on that season at Le Languedoc. Being next to the four chefs, one has to get use to the chefs with knives at one back over the pot sink.

This https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/21-Circle-Dr-Manhasset-NY-11030/31083824_zpid/?mmlb=g,0 is where I built the garage apartment from April 1982 to February 1983 where I was paid $8,000 in Barclay's travelers checks for the entire project. The Barkley's travelers checks came from the Harlem Savings Bank in Manhasset, Long Island. It was a lot of work to no avail, but it kept me busy. There were two police cars parked next to the house 24 hours a day at the Plandome Manor train station on the Port Washington line. The son in law of the house was in the United States State Department in Libya, Thailand, and Saudi Arabia. The son in law's father was a Colonel in the Army stationed in Atlanta, Georgia. The daughter was the head of word processing in Cyrus Vance's law firm in Manhattan, after he was Secretary of State. The grandmother owner of the house had a mother who was part of the Kaiser of Germany's consulate to New York City before World War One. The grandmother never went to Manhattan, but she traveled to every five star hotel in the World, and Mr. Grumman of Grumman Aircraft was a neighbor. He lawyer also lived on Round Hill Road in Greenwich. She owned a reinsurance company that insured the oil refineries in New Jersey.

11/04/24 Monday 11:50 P.M. The last season out on Nantucket from about the first of April 1983 to December 1983, when I returned from Oslo, Norway; I only earned $8.75 an hour before taxes as the head dishwasher at Le Languedoc restaurant working twelve hours or more a night six to seven days a week. I did have $8,000 in Barkley's travelers checks when I finished the garage apartment at 21 Circle Drive at Plandome Manor, New York, but in my brief travels about half of those Barkley's travelers checks disappeared. When I reported the loss at Barkley's in Oslo, Norway, they never refunded me any of the money. When I returned to America, I did not have the funds to return to Greenwich, so I went back to work on Nantucket. About that time the Mianus Bridge in Greenwich fell down on Interstate 95, so there was a bit of chaos in Greenwich unlike Nantucket. When I returned to Greenwich on December 13, 1983 after side trips to Vero Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and Bayonet Point, Florida and Toronto, Ontario, Canada, they put me on welfare to pay for my medical bills, since after a $7,500 complete physical in the Greenwich Hospital they determined I was disabled, which I have been ever since. However, having worked on Nantucket, I was entitled to unemployment compensation, but that would not have been enough to pay for my hospital bills. I have learned from experience to stay local in Greenwich, since when one tries other locations, nothing ever works out since I am disabled.

The last season out on www.nantucket.net in 1983, I worked as the head dishwasher at https://languedocbistro.com/ . They also had a guest house nearby on Hussey Street, where I stayed in an unfinished very small basement room for $40 a week. I had to use the bathroom on the main floor. It had a bunk bed made of two by four lumber, so technically two people could stay there. There was also a 1950s black and white television with not much programming. I think one has to work at the restaurant to get that cheap room though.

Then they are going to sail to Europe and explore around for almost a month, and then they are going to sail back to Miami the first week of December. I made my bed. I went outside. In Greenwich, Connecticut U.S.A. which is supposed to be more POSH, they are about $20 a year ago. I think the New World Order is leaving some people a bit further behind.

I remember out on www.nantucket.net in the summer of 1971 when I paid $5 a night for a bed with three other people in a front room at 31 India Street, there was one young fellow named John Birch whom liked reading a dictionary backwards. Boston people read a lot, but a lot of them do not have real world travel experience except for the libraries at www.harvard.edu and www.mit.edu and some other local large universities in the Boston area where they also read a lot. In my days around Cambridge, the newspaper stand at Harvard Square had newspapers from all around the world. Of course with the internet, there is probably a more diverse community up there, if they can take the colder weather compared to the New York City area. There were French Canadians out on Nantucket, and even at Lake Forest College, I had professors from McGill University in Montreal teaching me Economics. I think that was mostly Keynesian economics with a lot of statistics compared to the Milton Freeman University of Chicago more conservative economics. My economics advisor at Lake Forest College made extra money by working for the automobile manufacturing labor unions when there was a strike. Thus Economics is a little bit more complex than the price of gold today. In my days at Lake Forest College from the Fall of 1968 through the Spring of 1972, the price of gold was only $32 an ounce, and I made $5 an hour working as a bank teller and a taxi cab driver part time. Thus I was earning almost an ounce of gold a day. Even in Florence, Italy in the winter of 1972, gold jewelry on the Ponte Vechio was sold for about $32 an ounce when a package of Marlboros over there was $5, so I smoked French cigarettes for $2 a package. Also a liter of bottle water was $5 which people drink, since the local water gives one diarrhea. However, a liter of Chianti in a wicker covered fiasco was only about $1.25 plus $1 deposit on the bottle, so it was cheaper and healthier to drink the local wine. James Warburg the famous son of Paul Warburg who started the Federal Reserve Bank with his money had a falling out with Franklin Roosevelt for wanting to take the American dollar of the gold standard. The Warburg Bank in Europe was started out with help from the Rothschild Family whom were already established. The Harriman family in America got started out with the help of Belmont whom was an agent of the Rothschild Family. The Warburg Bank was also involved in helping John Davidson Rockefeller start Standard Oil Company after the Civil War, so they probably have other connections besides Swiss Mountain Climbing. Of the Aga Khan's family I think have also have had money for a long time, since they once had their own principality in India before Gandhi. Of course Lord Fairfax whom was a member of the Scott family once had the land grant for Virginia which ran from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean. Another Scott family member in England is the largest private land owner. Lord Mountbatten's number 2 person in India was also a Scott.

11/04/24 Monday 4:20 A.M. I put some of my heavier winter coats on the back side of the apartment entrance door and the front of the right side living room closet. I stored the lighter jackets in the right living room closet. I moved my heavier winter shirts to the left center of the bedroom closet, and I put the lighter summer shirts on the far left of the bedroom closet.
I will now go outside again and drink an instant coffee.
11/04/24 Monday 3:45 A.M. I put the white comforter on the bed. I put the floor mattress cushion on the Ethan Allen recliner and on the back of the Ethan Allen recliner, I put the blue comforter and Hudson Bay blanket. Thus those items on the Ethan Allen recliner could be used to sleep on the floor, if an unknown guest tried to squat in my apartment. However, the Ethan Allen recliner does recline fully to sleep on too.
