Note:<888> 04/30/07 Monday 11:35 A.M.:  The stew is still good on the third day.   I checked my mail, but it still has not come.   It usually comes a little later on Monday.   I will now install the Vista Longhorn Server beta 3 on the Epox computer, and then I will install it on the FIC server.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/30/07 Monday 11:05 A.M.:   I went outside, and I checked the air filter on the Buick, and it looks fairly new.    I lubricated some linkages.   I took the black electric tape of the front license plate frame.   The mend that I did with the CVS Super Glue gel seems to have held.   I have a bit driver on top of my tool case underneath the telephone chair in the apartment.   I used the small star bit to lower a driver's side head light which seems to have been a bit too high.   I will check it the next time I drive at night.   The engine underneath the hood of the Buick is very dirty on its exterior, but I have been advised to not steam clean automobile engines, which can cause electrical damage, and I have been told the grime build up helps protect the engine.    I chatted with a relative.   Monday commute problems ahead after highway collapse - CNN.com .    I had forgotten to set the wall clock by the apartment entrance ahead one hour when daylight savings time went into effect, so I just made the adjustment.   I will now eat the last 1.5 cups of the defrosted portion the steak and vegetable stew that I made a few days ago.   I will eat it with a glass of iced tea.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/30/07 Monday 9:35 A.M.:   I went out after the last message.   I went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.   I stopped the ATM machine at the Chase Bank on Mason Street.   I returned a CVS shopping cart from their driveway back to CVS.   After my walk, I walked lower Greenwich Avenue again, and I bought a Dublin Dollars scratch card for a dollar at the Greenwich Cigar store, but I lost.   I walked back up to the Greenwich Hardware store, and I toured their store.   The have some small appliances for 50% off.   I walked back up Greenwich Avenue a way.   I went by Charles Stuttig's lock smith, when they opened at 7:30 A.M., and I had a copy of each of the two Buick GM keys made along with a key for "The Club" steering wheel lock and a key for the Stant gasoline cap and along with a Buick key fob for $3, it was $16.43 total.    I then went by the Arnold Bread outlet, and I bought a 12 pack of English muffins for $2.05, a Entenmann's Home-style apple pie 26 ounces for $2.25 and a six pack of New York everything bagels for $1.85 for $6.15 total.   I then returned home, and I chatted with a neighbor and the building custodian.    CIO

Note:<888> 04/30/07 Monday 4:30 A.M.:   I woke up at 1:30 A.M..  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with a sliced banana and honey, a toasted bagel with olive oil, a 1/3rd mixture of orange juice with a 1/3rd mixture of grape juice and with a 1/3rd mixture of Ocean Spray cranraspberry juice with a half teaspoon of Certo, and coffee.   I washed the breakfast dishes.   I made my bed.   I added some music files to the Northgate Syntax computer.    I did another backup from the first hard drive to the second hard drive.   I also did a backup from the first hard drive to the Maxtor external hard drive.    I burned Vista Longhorn Server beta 3 to DVD.    I also burned a copy of Kubuntu Linux Feisty Fawn to CD.   For now I will leave XP Home Edition on the Toshiba laptop.    I do not leave its power adapter turned on, since it gets warm to hot.   One can turn it on from the bedroom desk control panel.   The Toshiba laptop battery does not hold much of a charge anyway.   I am running Norton SpeedDisk on the Northgate Syntax computer.    I will now shut down the primary computer, and I will shower and clean up, and I will go out for an early morning walk.  There are suppose to be a few early morning showers around 7 A.M..   Greenwich, Connecticut (06830) Conditions & Forecast : Weather Underground .   CIO

End of Scott's Notes week of 04/28/07:

Note:<888> 04/28/07 Saturday 7:45 P.M.:   I ate two scoops of sugar free coffee ice cream.   I chatted with a relative about auto mechanics.   I chatted with a fellow walker about auto mechanics.    I am a bit tired, so I will now shut down the primary computer, and I will go to bed soon.  BBC NEWS | UK | England | Earthquake shakes parts of Kent .   BBC NEWS | Technology | Mouse brain simulated on computerBBC NEWS | UK | Iraqi MPs tell Harry to stay away .  Well, if he wants to visit here instead, we are probably a bit more peaceful.   I even have an ashtray here that says "Harry's Bar " "Venezia" as in Italia.   Whatever, the case the big news story this upcoming week is Queen Elizabeth II coming to Virginia Jamestown 2007 - America's 400th Anniversary and Kentucky Derby 133 and the Welcome to the White House during the first week of May 2007 Buckingham Palace press releases > State Visit to the USA, 21 March 2007 .   Before I shut down the primary computer, I will send out my weekly notes.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/28/07 Saturday 5:45 P.M.:  Well, every cloud has a silver lining.   My weight has gone down from 195 pounds to 181 pounds, which is a much better weight for my thin boned six foot tall frame.   I went out after the last message.   I went by Gateway Auto Machine, and I bought a Stant locking gasoline cap #10501 with two keys for my 1992 Buick Roadmaster station wagon for $22.73 and two quarts of Castrol 10W-40 motor oil for $3 each and $1.02 tax for $30.45 total.   I then installed the new locking gasoline cap on my car fuel tank.   I put the non locking one in the Stant box, and I put it with the two quarts of oil in the rear driver's side compartment.   I put one of the keys on my key ring with the www.gm.com and www.buick.com keys, and when I got home, I put the other gas cap key with the other set of keys.   I next went by Charles Stuttig's lock smith on Greenwich Avenue, but they are closed on Saturdays.   I will get another set of keys made later on next week, so I have a third set of keys.   I then parked, and I sat out briefly down in the center of town.   It seems to be busy as ever.   I then went down by the waterfront, and there were a few people down there, but I guess the fisherman can not afford to show up anymore.   I then went by the Greenwich Library, and I chatted with some of the staff.   I then went by the Greenwich Automotive Services Exxon gasoline station, and I bought $8 of self service premium unleaded gasoline at $3.559 a gallon for 2.249 gallons purchased.   Since I drove locally in traffic 20.5 miles since I last filled up two days ago, my math says I get 9.115 miles per gallon of gasoline in local driving which costs $.3904 a mile to drive the car locally.  I am suppose to get 16 miles per gallon on the highway.  On the diseased 1995 Volvo Turbo wagon, I got 13 to 16 miles per gallon driving locally, so the Buick wagon uses about 50% more gasoline.   Maybe I should just fly the Saudi Arabian flag from its back window, but then I would not be able to see out the rear window.  Thus the Volvo cost about .22 to .26 miles per gallon to drive locally.   However, I only drive about 3,000 miles a year, which works out on the Buick 3,000 divided by 9.115 equals 329.1278 gallons of premium self service gasoline at the current Exxon price of $3.559 a gallon to $1,171.365 a year in gasoline expenses with more that likely expected fuel increases for the next year.  In the year 2006, I spent $531.13 on gasoline with mostly local driving and one round trip to Kennebunkport, Maine, so it would seem that my future gasoline expenses for this upcoming year will be 2.2 times greater or about a 110% increase in cost.   Since gasoline or fuel prices or a primary variable in the costs of every other item that has to be shipped, it would seem to me that the Federal Government should increase my COLA or Cost of Living Adjustment for my Supplement Security Income from the current 1.5% to a more realistic level.    Obviously the politicians do not know what economists are, or they do not listen to them.   Thus since part of my volunteer activity over the last 24 years has included observation downtown along with all of the walking that I have done, it will cost me 5 to 7 miles round trip every time I got downtown with 7 miles going as far as Steamboat Road or $2 to $2.80 for each round trip, which is why I do not always go downtown, as often anymore.   Hopefully the Buick battery will not run down when it is not used daily in the winter, since I do not think it has an alarm system, so possibly I will not have to take it for longer drives to charge up the car battery in the winter.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/28/07 Saturday 1:55 P.M.:   I picked up my mail.   I chatted with a relative.   I used some CVS Super Glue gel to try to mend my front license plate top passenger side of the frame, and I secured it with some black electrical tape.   Hopefully, it will stick tight once it dries.    If not I can leave the plastic edge hanging lose, or I can cut it off.   The front license plate is secure with bolts lower down.   I took half of the steak stew that I made yesterday that I had defrosted in the refrigerator, and I put it in a microwave proof soup bowl with microwave lid on it, and I heated it on one vegetable cycle in the General Electric microwave oven.   I put the hot bowl on a cool dinner plate, and I ate it all with a glass of iced tea.   It tastes better when you don't have to cook it before.   I brought up my 1992 Buick Road Master station wagon owner's manual to study.  CIO

Note:<888> 04/28/07 Saturday 11:15 A.M.:   I chatted with a friend.  I went out after the last message.   I brought three bent wood baskets to give to the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop.   I gave one to a neighbor who could use it.  I put the items in between the two rear seats, in the rear seat foot well, and I folded down the rear  facing rear third seat, so there is now more cargo room in the Buick wagon.   I then went downtown, and I read my 1992 Buick Roadmaster wagon manual, and it says under normal driving conditions the automatic transmission fluid does not need to replaced for every 100,000 miles, so since the automatic transmission was replaced under warranty at 55,000 miles, it should have a ways to go before the automatic transmission fluid needs to be replaced.   I noticed I only have a 22 gallon gasoline tank.  Since I put 21.646 gallon in it all together this week, it would appear I was almost out of gasoline when I was up at the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles in Norwalk, Connecticut on the Wilton, Connecticut border.   Thus when the fuel gauge reaches the yellow marking just above the empty marking, basically the car is out of gasoline.   I wander if that would have effected my emissions test.   I walked a bit of upper Greenwich Avenue.   I stopped by CVS, and I bought two buy one get one free of 100 ounce Arm and Hammer liquid detergent for $5.49 both, two 2 packs of 4.25 ounce bars of Dove soap for $2.50 a two pack, a 15 ounce VO5 herbal shampoo for .77, a 15 ounce VO5 herbal conditioner for .77, and a white 70" by 72" shower curtain liner with reinforced metal grommets for $3.69 and .94 tax for $16.66 total.   I returned to my car with the purchases.   I then went by the Bank of New York Chase Bank on Mason Street.    I put eight quarters in my change holder in the Buick.  One the right side of the front seat arm rest, there is a plastic slider that permits one to open the front of the arm rest to show a cup holder and a change holder.    I then went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop, and I gave them the two bent wood baskets, and I bought a 17 to 19 inch Fellowes standard glare filter for $5.   I then returned home.   I put $10 on my MacGray laundry card, so I now have $17.85 on it.   I put the Fellowes glare filter on the left 19 inch Panasonic monitor on my primary computer setup.    I installed the new shower curtain liner, and it seems about 4 inches too short, but it is long enought that it will still work effectively.   I will now throw out the old shower curtain liner.  Two days ago, I also got my new GEICO insurance card, so I put in the auto paper holder in the glove box.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/28/07 Saturday 6:40 A.M.:   I woke up at 9 P.M., and I chatted with a friend.    I went back to bed until 1:30 A.M.. I went back to bed until a little white ago.   I made my bed.   I will now shut down the primary computer, and I will shower and clean up, and I will go out for an early morning walk.    CIO

Note:<888> 04/27/07 Friday 4:15 P.M.:   I went downstairs after the last message, and I picked up my mail.   I chatted with some neighbors.   I then came back upstairs, and I put the mail away.   The emergency pull cord alarm went off in one of the apartments, and I went out to investigate, and apparently it was a false alarm.   I chatted with some neighbors.    I then took the 1.75 pound Angus top round London Broil cut of beef, and I cut it with a serrated knife into 1 to 1.5 inch cubes.    I then took my Chinese Wok that I bought from a Japanese family in Old Greenwich at a tag sale over a dozen years ago for $2, and I put it on my large electric burner.    I added a half dozen tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, and I then peeled and minced six large cloves of garlic, and I added them to the oil.   I then peeled and diced three medium large onions, and I turned on the electric burner heat to medium high, and once the olive oil and garlic was hot, I added the onions, and I seasoned them lightly with chicken and meat seasoning, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, beef bullion powder, and ground black pepper.   I sautéed the onions and garlic until they began to look a bit opaque.  I then added a half stick of 50% less fat butter cut into pads.   I then added the beef chunks, and I browned them stirring them around in Wok, until they turned from red to light tan.    I then added half of a 14 ounce can of Swanson's chicken stock, and I mixed it together leaving it on medium high electric burner heat.   I then took 1.5 pounds of baby carrots, and I cut them lengthwise into quarters, and I added them.   I am very fast at prep work.   I then cut the last half inch off the stalks of a pound of asparagus, and I discarded the hard ends.   I then cut the rest of the asparagus on an angle at .75 inch lengths, and I added them to the Wok.   I then cut two pounds broccoli crowns into .75 inch to 1.25 inch chunks, and I added them to the Wok.   I mixed it all together, and I added the rest of the Swanson's chicken broth, and the other half of the stick of 50% less fat butter.   I seasoned it all some more with dried parsley, Italian seasoning, Old Bay Seasoning, Chicken and Meat Seasoning, ground black pepper, garlic powder, and beef bullion powder, and I added  about four tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, a tablespoons of Angostura bitters, a couple of tablespoons of Lea and Perris Worcestershire sauce, a tablespoon of Sesame oil, and about an 1/8th of a cup of Kikkoman soy sauce, a couple of tablespoons of lemon juice, and I mixed it all together with a large wooden mixing spoon that I have.   I left it on medium high electric burner heat, and I let it all cook stirring frequently for about 50 minutes.  I made up a batch of http://www.geocities.com/mikelscott/mlsrice.htm , but instead of using water, I used a 14 ounce can of Swanson's chicken broth, and I also added to the regular recipe, Italian seasoning, Old Bay Seasoning, garlic powder, and two teaspoons of soy sauce.    Once the rice was done, after the 50 minute cooking cycle of the stew, I added the rice to the mixture, and I mixed it all together, and I continued to cook it another 30 minutes reducing the electric burner heat gradually to medium and then low for a simmer.   After it was done, I put 1.5 cups of the mixture in a soup bowl.   I put three cups of the mixture in each of three Rubbermaid containers with lids.    I froze two of the containers, and I put the third in the refrigerator.    I clean up as I cook, so I just cleaned up the Wok, and then I rubbed the inside with a bit of olive oil with a paper towel, so it would not rust.    Thus I made up all together seven 1.5 cup servings of the stew.   I then ate the portion in the soup bowl with a glass of iced tea.     It is a very hearty enjoyable meal, particularly, if you do not have to cook it.    CIO

Note:<888> 04/27/07 Friday 12:05 P.M.:   I went out after the last note yesterday.   I went by the Greenwich Housing Authority, and I dropped off my new lease paper work with them.    I then went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop, and I chatted with some of the staff.    I then went to my usual 3 P.M. appointment on Thursday.    I then returned home.   One the way home, I saw someone driving a new mini car about half the size of a Morris Mini Cooper.   I ate the other half of the 5.5 ounce tube of Pringle sour cream and onion potato chips.    I then went to bed.   I had a telephone call from a relative on the answering machine about 7 P.M. that I did not hear.   I had a telephone call from a fellow walker about 9 P.M. asking about what the Greenwich Automotive Exxon Service Center said needed to be done on the 1992 Buick Roadmaster wagon.   I gave a brief description of what I have written in my notes.   Besides having my friend's mechanic fix the emissions problem, I should also have the automatic transmission fluid changed along with any other 50,000 mile automatic transmission maintenance routines on it, if it has not already been done by my friend's mechanic.   I woke up at midnight.  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with a sliced banana and honey, a toasted English muffins with olive oil, a 1/3rd mixture of orange juice with a 1/3rd mixture of grape juice and with a 1/3rd mixture of Ocean Spray cranraspberry juice with a half teaspoon of Certo, and coffee.   I washed the breakfast dishes.   I made my bed.   I watered the plants using some of the Shultz fertilizer drops.   I also pushed the soil in them back in place.   I put more white vinegar in the scent bowl.   I turned on the Honeywell Hepa air purifier which makes the apartment more livable with the allergy seasoning coming up.   I also have an allergy air purifier underneath the brass and glass coffee table, I might turn on soon.   I also turned on a few of the lights I had turned off, since it makes the apartment more cheerful.   I did my regular house cleaning which I had not done in a month.   I also put a new vacuum bag in the Sears Kenmore upright vacuum cleaner.  I also used some of the Scot's Tuff Pot Shot to clean the outside exterior of the white Westinghouse refrigerator.  It came out very clean.   I used a concentrated batch of Ajax antibacterial dishwashing detergent in hot water to clean the kitchen stove fan metal air filter where cigarette smoke accumulates, and I cleaned the housing and fan except the electrical parts.   I used Murphy's Oil soap, and I cleaned the wooden kitchen cabinets.  I then polished them with CVS lemon furniture polish.   I put a Stop and Shop blue toilet drop-in tablet in the toilet tank.   I washed and dried the glassware in the center hallway bookcase lower cabinet area, and I also washed and dried the glassware on the Danish bar at the far end of the living room sitting area.   I threw out the garbage including the one defrosted hamburger that was old.   I chatted with a relative.   I ordered from www.amazon.com for the relative Amazon.com: High Rise Low Down: Books: Denise LeFrak Calicchio,Eunice David,Kathryn Livingston for $16.47 and Amazon.com: KitchenAid Professional Egg Slicer, Black: Home & Garden for $9.99 with free shipping on over a $25 order for $26.46 total.   The twin brother of one of my college roommates at www.lfc.edu knew the author when I first moved to Manhattan back in 1973.    We seem to be having a lot of rain.  Weather Hazards for Southern Fairfield, CT .   Thus I spent about 10 hours doing house cleaning this morning.  I would say by my standards the apartment is back up to snuff.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/26/07 Thursday 1:05 P.M.:    www.geico.com called me up.   I signed my lease papers for the Greenwich Housing Authority.   I will turn them in shortly when I go out.   I will now get ready to go out for my 3 P.M. appointment.   It is not very busy in downtown Greenwich anymore, since the price of fuel is so high more people are staying home.   However, it is the nature of this town that there are always a few people still around.   I told GEICO that Belgium has the highest population density in the World, so maybe Fairfield County is getting to be like that.   It is easier and cheaper to linger in downtown Greenwich than to explore our neighboring towns.  I will now turn off the computer.   Maybe when I wake up tomorrow, I will try to do my apartment cleaning for the first time in about four or five weeks.   It is so long ago, I forget when the last time it was that I cleaned the palce.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/26/07 Thursday 11:25 A.M.:   I made up a batch of Michael Louis Scott's Microwave Oven Rice Recipe, and I also added garlic powder, Old Bay Seasoning, Italian seasoning, chicken bullion seasoning and a teaspoon of Kikkoman soy sauce.  I put about 2 cups of baby carrots and broccoli crowns and sliced asparagus in a Revere pot with steamer tray and an inch of water and lid, and I steamed them for 15 minutes on medium high electric burner heat.  For the last 10 minutes I put a few tablespoons of olive oil in a 10 inch stick proof frying pan with a few pads of margarine, and I heated it medium high electric burner heat.   I then put in an eight ounce hamburger in the frying pan and a medium large onion peeled and sliced into 1/4 inch thick slices, and I seasoned the burger and onions on both sides with garlic pepper, ground black pepper, and chicken and meat seasoning, and I cooked them on medium to medium high electric burner heat flipping them frequently for about 4 minutes a side, and for the last two minutes, I put on a couple of teaspoons of Kikkoman soy sauce and on top of the burger I put two 1/4th inch by 1.25 inch by 4 inch thick slices of mozzarella cheese, and I put a lid on, and I steamed the cheese for a couple of minutes.   I then put the vegetables in a bowl with a little bit of olive oil on them.   I put the burger on a dinner plate with the sautéed onions over them, and I put half the rice on the dinner plate and the other half in a Rubbermaid container in the refrigerator, and I ate it all with a glass of iced tea.  I chatted with a relative and a friend.  I checked the mail, but it had not arrived yet.   I chatted with some neighbors.  CIO

Note:<888> 04/26/07 Thursday 9:25 A.M.:  I went out after the last message.   I noticed the rear window windshield wiper was totally worn out, when I tried to remove the morning mist.    I went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.   I sat out at various locations.   I used the bathroom at Starbucks.   I then drove down by the waterfront, and I chatted with another regular fisherman about my recent automobile adventures, and he is an automobile mechanic.   I then went by the Gateway Auto Supply, and I bought a Anco 31-17 wiper blade for $7.65 total.   I snapped it in place replacing the old worn out wiper blade on the rear window of the Buick station wagon.   I then went by the Greenwich Automotive Services Exxon gasoline station, and I filled up the gasoline tank to the top with $10 of premium unleaded self service gasoline at $3.459 a gallon or 2.891 gallons of fuel.  Thus I have a full tank of gasoline to start figuring out my regular gasoline mileage, and I reset the trip odometer to zero.   I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought two 59 ounce containers of Tropicana premium orange juice with calcium for $1.99 each, a Angus top round London Broil for $1.99 a pound for $3.60, a pound of baby carrots for $1.79, fresh asparagus at $1.77 a pound for $1.77, fresh Chiquita bananas at .54 a pound for .98, and broccoli crowns at $1.99 a pound for $2.83 for $11.45 total.   I then returned home.  I leant my neighbor the folding cart from the rear seat area of my car to bring down an old computer CPU and monitor, but instead I carried it down for them which was easier, and I put the folding cart back in between the two rear seats of my Buick station wagon.   While I was out the Vista Complete PC backup from the first hard drive to the second hard drive completed.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/25/07 Wednesday 2:50 P.M.:   I woke up at 4:30 A.M. this morning. I then showered, and I cleaned up.   I then went out, and I drove from Exit 2 to Exit 4 on East Bound I-95 as fast as the traffic would bear, and then I drove back from exit 4 to 3.    I then went by the ATM machine at Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street.   I then dropped the Buick Wagon off at the Shell Service station at Sherwood Place, and I paid $20 have the Connecticut Emissions checked.   It was about 6:30 A.M., and they said they would start on it around 8 A.M..   I then walked over to Greenwich Avenue, and I walked down Greenwich Avenue, and I went by the Greenwich train station.   The Metro North police were there, and apparently the trains were not running because the power lines were down between Greenwich and Cos Cob Metro-North delays - Greenwich Time .   I then walked back down to the waterfront on Steamboat Road.  One of the regular summer fishermen was there, and he told me the too most regular summer fishermen were down there yesterday.   There were five news helicopters flying over Bruce Park covering the Metro North trains delay.   I then walked back up Greenwich Avenue, and I stopped by the Welcome to RBSGC.com , and I chatted with some of their staff.   They told me they now own the building.   They are still in the process of demolishing Maneros to build new condominiums.   I think they should save the old florescent signs for some old art deco museum.   I then returned back up Greenwich Avenue, and I advised a couple of commuters parking their cars that the trains might not be running.   I sat out briefly by the Senior and the Arts Center.   I then returned to the Shell station about 8:10 A.M., and they were just about to start my emissions check.   I walked over to the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop, and I said good morning to some of their staff.   I returned to the Shell station, and they checked out the emissions on the Buick, and unfortunately it failed.   They said after I made the emissions repairs, they would reinspect it again at no extra charge.   I then returned home, and the paramedics were at my building for a neighbor that needed assistance.   I chatted with the friend who sold me the car, and the emission test showed the emissions was not due until May 25, 2007 and one has a month after that to have it inspected.   My friend said he would have his mechanic take care of it more reasonably than the Greenwich Exxon station.    We then agreed to meet at the Norwalk Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles.   I drove east on I-95 observing a lot of backed up west bound traffic, and I drove up Route 7 to the Department of Motor Vehicles.   I met my friend there.   We filled out the paper work for the Buick registration to my current Connecticut license plates, title transfer, and sales tax.   I took my friends license plates off the Buick, and I put my Connecticut license plates on the Buick.   We waited about 45 minutes for our turn in line.   I paid $60 sales tax on the $1,000 sale of the car, $20 Registration Vehicle transfer, $25 title transfer, and $10 inspection fee for $115 total that I paid for with a personal check.  My relative had already since my friend a $1,000 check for the purchase price of the Buick.   My friend left to go back to work.   I then drove north on Route 7 past Wal-Mart to the Mobil gasoline station there.   Since my fuel gauge was near empty, and since the gasoline is slightly cheaper in Wilton, I bought $63 of premium unleaded gasoline at $3.359 a gallon or 18.755 gallons.   Since the Buick does not have a trip computer, I do not know its miles per gallon or average speed.   I did not fill up the fuel tank all of the way.   It supposedly has a 24 gallon gasoline tank, but the gasoline gauge is all of the way up.   However, on the Buick once the fuel gauge drops below a half, it tends to drop fast.   I then returned back down Route 7 to I-15 West of the Merritt Parkway to Greenwich, and I got off at North Street.   I then returned home.   I chatted with a relative and a friend.   I scraped off the old expired emissions sticker from the windshield, and I put the new registration sticker in the inside driver's side left of the windshield.   I put the temporary registration and insurance card in the car papers holder I have in the glove box.   I also left the failed Shell emissions report there too.   I now have paid $20 twice for two failed emissions reports, but it should not be too difficult to fix the emissions problem, once my friend's mechanic gets to work on it.  I have two months time.   When he has time, he will pick up the car here and take it to his mechanic.  I put away the other papers on the bedroom desk.   I put away the tools that I had used for changing the license plates.   I left the Putnam Buick Greenwich, Connecticut license plate frame on the car.  I chatted with some neighbors.   I brought up the mail.   I am in the process of making up a batch of Formula Two http://mikelouisscott.com/icetea.htm .   I called up www.geico.com to tell them that I had registered the car and transferred the title.   The car was already insured by them since the day I took procession of the car on April 22, 2007.  I just had a telephone recording from Congressman Christopher Shays that he will be at a Town Hall Meeting on Friday April 27, 2007 from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M..  CIO

Note:<888> 04/24/07 Tuesday 11:40 P.M.:  I chatted with a friend and a relative at 9 A.M. this morning.   I went back to bed until 2 P.M.. I then threw out some garbage, and I picked up my mail.   I made my bed, and I washed the breakfast dishes.    I chatted with Greenwich Automotive Services Exxon station, and they were just completing the work on my car.   I will get into that in a minute.   I chatted with a relative a friend a couple of times.   I then walked downtown to pickup the car.  I stopped by the Chase Bank on West Putnam Avenue.    I stopped by McDonalds on the way to use the bathroom.   I picked up my car at the Greenwich Automotive Services Exxon station, and I paid $109.99 for a new Deka car battery and $13.75 to have the electric system tested and have the battery installed, $38.58 for an oil and filter change, top off vital fluids, lubricate chassis and perform 20 point maintenance check.  The $38.58 included $19.58 labor, five quarts of Exxon 5000 motor oil for $14.05 and a #49 oil filter for $4.95.    Emissions test $20 and free tire rotation for $200 total.   I failed the emissions test, and they said I needed a tune up to pass emissions, and the parts for a tune-up would be $300 and $200 labor.    I also need a new drive belt installed which would be $150.   I also need to have the automatic transmission flushed and refilled which would be $200.   I also need new wiper blades which would be about $28.   Thus with tax, I still need about $800 in service that I can not afford.   A relative paid for the $200 of work that they did perform.   I then checked the air on the tires again for 35 PSI rear and 30 PSI front.   I then went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.   I stopped by the Greenwich Cigar store, and I bought for a dollar an Aces High scratch card, but I lost.   I stopped by CVS, and I bought buy one get one free of Arm and Hammer detergent for $5.49 both and .33 tax for $5.82 total.  After my walk, I sat out for a while.   I then drove down by the waterfront.   I then returned home.   I chatted with a relative and a friend.   The friend who sold me the car told me besides putting in the dry gas to clean out the emissions system, I need to drive the car at high speed for a short spell to get it to pass emissions.   I went back out, and I drove up King Street to Westchester Airport, I got on I-684 East, and I drove at high speed reaching speeds up to 85 miles per hour from the airport to Mount Kisco, where I got back off and on and came back the same way at high speed, and then I got off at the airport, and I drove around the airport terminal area and back down King Street, and I returned home.   I chatted with a relative.   I put three paper towels on a microwave proof plate, and then I laid out six strips of Oscar Meyer bacon on the paper towels, and then I put two more paper towels on top of the bacon strips, and then I put a microwave cover on top of the plate, and I put it in the microwave oven, and I set it to 4 minutes and 15 seconds.  I broke three large eggs in a large metal mixing bowl, and I added a couple of tablespoons of milk, a tablespoon of olive oil, dashes of oregano, and a tablespoon of grated parmesan cheese, and I whisked it all together.   I put a couple of tablespoons of olive oil in a stick proof frying pan with a few pads of 50% less fat butter, and I turned it on medium high electric burner heat.   I put two English muffin halves in the toaster.  Once the fat in the frying pan was hot, I started the bacon and English muffin, and I added the egg mixture to the frying pan.  I made soft scrambled eggs.   The other items were done at the same time.  I put the scrambled eggs on a large dinner plate with the bacon and English muffin, and I added a little bit of olive oil on the English muffin.   I ate it all with a glass of iced tea.  I will now go through my email.  While getting ready to go out today, I did a Norton Antivirus 2007 full system scan of the Vista primary computer.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/24/07 Tuesday 5:30 A.M.:  I went outside, and I threw away some garbage.   The newspaper delivery person was making the Greenwich Time Greenwich, Connecticut, Local News, Jobs, Real Estate | Greenwich Time delivery.  I brought the papers from the outer door to the inside entry hallway table.   McCain has fundraiser in Belle Haven - Greenwich Time .   The two six inch square ceramic trivets on either side of the Northgate Syntax monitor are the Cadillac one and the Williamsburg one.   I put red, white, and blue striped mouse pads on top of each.  I took out the White Star clipper ship place mat from underneath the Northgate Syntax computer, and I put a more worn place mat underneath it.   I put the White Star clipper ship place mat on the mahogany and leather tea table in the kitchen which sits over the garbage can.   I put the Netherlands Club of New York ceramic trivet on top to the White Star place mat with a cut crystal ash tray.   I put the Eiffel Tower round trivet in between the place mats on the dining table.  I organized some of the bric-a-brac on the living room window shelf.   I will now go through my email.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/24/07 Tuesday 4:40 A.M.:  I ate three scoops of sugar free coffee ice cream.   I then took the Toshiba laptop and its accessories off the near end of the brass and glass coffee table.   I then put two square Christmas tree coaster on the near end of the brass and glass coffee table and set back about 15 inches two wooden round coasters.   I then put a 16 ounce can of B&M baked beans on each coaster.   I then put a wooden breakfast tray upside down on top of the bean cans.   I centered the bean cans, so they are against each corner of the upside down breakfast tray rim.   I then put a piece of Plexiglas on top of the upside down breakfast tray to level it off and to raise it up a bit I put a large book on Saudi Arabia.  I then took one of the two 2 foot diameter oak Lazy Susans from underneath the large palm tree on the window sill and I put it on top of the book on Saudi Arabia.   I then took off the 19 inch CompUSA monitor from the Dell L1000R computer on the bedroom desk, and I removed one of the two control panels.   I then put the control panel on top of the Lazy Susan, and I put the 19 inch CompUSA monitor on top of the control panel.   I slid back the allergy machine underneath the brass and glass coffee.   I then put the White Star Line Place Mat on the rug underneath the near left side of the brass and glass coffee table.   I then disconnected the Northgate Syntax computer from the left side of the bedroom desk, and I put it on top of the White Star Line place mat underneath the brass and glass coffee table at the near left side.  I then hooked it up with the same accessories, except I put the Logitech cordless mouse from the Dell L1000R computer with it, and I put the Rosewell mouse from the Northgate Syntax with the Dell L1000R computer.   I also put the 17 inch Trinitron monitor with the Dell L1000R computer on the bedroom desk.  I put the Toshiba laptop on the left side of the bedroom desk on top of the Visioneer 7600 scanner.    I have the Northgate Syntax computer also hooked up to the Cable TV system with its TV card.   This took a while, but there are now two adequate computers on the brass and glass coffee table with large monitors and accessories.   I think the Northgate Syntax monitor facing the Ethan Allen recliner can also be swiveled on the Lazy Susan, so it can be used with either sofa at the near ends.   I put two 5 inch square ceramic trivets underneath the Lazy Susan, so they can be used as mouse pads with the Logitech cordless mouse on the right or left side of the monitor.   The Northgate Syntax computer is a very good computer, and you can study its specifications at http://mikelouisscott.com/computer.htm .   There is now a little bit more space in the bedroom window area and on the bedroom desk.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/24/07 Tuesday 12:45 A.M.:  I went out after the last message.   I brought my jump start system with me, and I had to jump start the car battery, since the old battery was installed in 1999, so it needs to be replaced.   I then drove to the Stop and Shop, and I used the ATM machine at the Chase Bank at the Stop and Shop Plaza.  I bought two 12 ounce containers of Unifide Iso-Dri Fuel System Dryer for fuel injected engines Isopropyl gas additive for $1.99 each and a 12 ounce container of Pennzoil concentrated Fuel System cleaner for $3.99 for $7.97 sub total and .48 tax for $8.45 total.   I was told if I added the Isopropyl dry gas additive, it would help me pass my emissions test, but first I had to drive the car on the highway a few miles at 70 miles per hour.   I then got on I-95 East at Exit 3 in downtown Greenwich, and I drove from 50 to 70 miles an hour to exit 5 and back to exit 3.   I then parked downtown.   I left the engine running while at the Stop and Shop to charge up the car battery.   I then parked downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.   I sat out at various locations.  At the vacant lot at the top of Greenwich Avenue south of the Pickwick Plaza, they have a back hoe, so maybe they will be doing some new construction there.   After I completed my walk, I drove down by the waterfront on Steamboat Road.   I then went by the Greenwich Automotive Service Exxon service station, and I put 35 PSI in the rear tires and 30 PSI in the front tires.  I noticed the regular service manager Chris was still there, so I dropped the car off there to get a new battery for about $90 and $15 installation charge.   They will also do the emissions test there, and change the oil and oil filter and top off the consumables, and they will also rotate the tires.   Thus when I wake up tomorrow afternoon the car should be ready.   I need to have the emissions test done before I can register the car.   I could possibly get the air conditioner charged up there, but it would be about $120 to $200 to charge it up, and more if it needed parts.   Since I do not drive that much anymore, and mostly for short distances at night, I will not bother having the air conditioner on the car charged up now, until I am doing more hot weather driving in the daytime.  I then walked home.   I watched the beginning of the movie "Breakfast at Tiffany's" on the Turner movie channel at midnight.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/22/07 Sunday 9:45 P.M.:  I opened up a 12 ounce box of frozen Gorton's Gorton's Shrimp Temptations , and I put it in a two quart pot, and I added a 26 ounce jar of Francesco Rinaldi Welcome to Francesco Rinaldi tomato sauce with sliced mushrooms and peppers, and I added four cloves of minced garlic, a teaspoon of olive oil, and a teaspoon of Italian spices, and I brought it to a simmer over medium high electric burner heat stirring frequently to defrost the shrimp and mix the ingredients together, and I reduced it to medium electric burner heat and for the last five minute of a 20 minute cooking cycle, I put it on medium low.   At the same time I put four quarts of water in a 6 quart Revere pot and a half teaspoon of olive oil and a dash of sea salt, and I brought it to a boil over high electric burner heat, and once the water was boiling, I added a 16 ounce box of San Georgio Ronzoni Macaroni Company vermicelli, and I stirred it a bit to fit into the pot, and I boiled it for eight minutes reducing to medium high, once the water was bubbling.  I then drained it in a colander inside another big pot, and I threw the hot water down the bathroom sink to clean out the shaving soap scum.   I put half of the cooked vermicelli on a large dinner plate, and I put the other half in a flat Rubbermaid container in the refrigerator.   I then added half of the tomato shrimp sauce on the dinner plate, and I put the other half in a Rubbermaid container in the refrigerator.   I put a few tablespoons of grated parmesan cheese on the vermicelli and tomato shrimp sauce, and I ate it all with a glass of iced tea.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/22/07 Sunday 8:10 P.M.:  I threw away the two old boneless breasts of chicken.   The 1992 Buick Roadmaster Wagon needs to have its tires rotated also, so when I have the funds and time, it needs to have an oil and filter change and the coolant topped up, the tires rotated, a new battery, and possibly I will go through the additional expense of charging up the air conditioning system which needs more coolant.   I took a Stanley paint scraper, and I scraped as much off the rubber and glue off the chrome strips on the front door where the rubber bumper strips came off, so it looks a bit better.   I took the items from the rear facing seat foot well, and I put them in between the rear facing seat back and the rear seat back, and I left the rear facing seat opened.   Thus with room for three passengers in the large front seat with the arm rest up, and three passengers in the rear seat, and two passengers in the rear facing seat, there is room for eight people in the car.  There are eight pairs of seat belts at those locations.  I put my GEICO automobile policy insurance identification in the glove compartment with the previous owner's registration and All State insurance identification car, so now the car is doubly insured until I transfer title and registration and plates probably this Tuesday.   I set the interior lights setting to the minimum, so they do not stay on after one gets out of the car and locks it.   I also set the stay on feature of the headlights, so they do not stay on after one turns them off to light up the walk area.   Thus there will be less a load on the older battery.  I also put in two new AA alkaline batteries in each of the two flash lights in the side pockets of the front doors, and I also put a pair of Alkaline batteries that are still good in the glove box.  One of my neighbor's children has a new black Audi Quatto which is an extremely sporty car which looks like it has 18 inch high performance wheels.   There is room enough in the Buick wagon to tour guests off the QM2 - Itinerary - 2007 when it next arrives in New York on Monday April 30, 2007.  CIO

Note:<888> 04/22/07 Sunday 6:10 P.M.:  I woke up at 8 A.M. this morning. I washed the breakfast dishes, and I made my bed.  I used a long extension cord, and I vacuumed out the Buick Roadmaster station wagon.   I put my personal items back in the car.   I drive it up to the side door, and I use the long extension cord that I have with my old Electrolux vacuum cleaner.   I think the Buick needs a new battery since it seems a little low on power starting up.   I was told later on in the day at the auto parts store in Port Chester, New York, I could get one for about $85, but I would have to install it myself, which does not look to difficult.   It has enough power for now.   I take one of the jump start systems when I go out.   One has to be careful, because one can lock the keys inside the car, if you push the full lock button on the inside of the driver's door and close the driver's door.   It is safer to use the remote keyless entry, so one is out the car with the key.  It has two keys beside the remote keyless entry.    I showered, and I cleaned up, and I went by the ATM machine at Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street.   They did not have any  deposit slips out by the ATM machine, but the cleaning crew gave me a deposit slip which I used at the ATM machine.   I then walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.   I stopped by the Greenwich Hardware store, and I bought a small two inch molly and bolt for .33 and a flat washer for .17 for .50 and .3 tax for .53 total.  I stopped by CVS, and I chatted with an employee of Candy Nichols, and the employee of Candy Nichols is now working in their Rye, New York store.  I think they also have a Candy Nichols children's store in New Canaan, Connecticut.   I chatted with a Starbucks regular and a regular walker.   I sat out for a while.   I probably will not be driving down by the waterfront on Steamboat Road too much, since the 1992 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon is such a large car, it might be difficult turning it around with all of the parked cars down by the waterfront.   It has a boat hitch for hauling boats with electric tail light extension.   I then drove over to the Medallion Auto Parts store in Port Chester, New York, and I bought a package of two small 24BP small blinker lights for $2.49 and .18 tax for $2.67 total.   I then returned home.  I put the two new small blinker lights in the front corner blinker housings, and I also put two new 2057 parking lights in the same front corner housings.   I already had the 2057 lights.   I then used the two inch bolt with small molly and flat washer to hold down a black box on the driver's side in the engine compartment where its plastic hold down fastener had come lose.  Also the metal accordion tube from the valve cover to the air intake had become disconnected, so I refastened it.   All of the exterior lights in the car seem to be working.   I had a neighbor check the rear lights while I tested them.   The car battery has a side fasten battery with a double thick screw on a double cable terminal and a regular thick screw on the single thick terminal, and it has a hold down bolt that I could access with my tools, so it would not be too difficult for me to replace myself.   I was told by Medallion that one would cost about $85 there, but I usually get new car batteries at Sears, so I can get their Nation Wide warranty, not that I will be going anywhere.   I have fairly new Cooper white wall tires on the car.   The department Connecticut department of Motor Vehicles is not opened on Monday in Norwalk, Connecticut, but I might meet my friend there on Tuesday, if I have the funds to transfer the car.   My friend is going to meet me there to give me the title and to pick up his license plates.   I was emailed my new GEICO insurance card.   I chatted with a relative.   The relative recommended that I not cook and eat the last two pieces of boneless breasts of chicken that I bought last Sunday night, so I will throw them away.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/21/07 Saturday 11:45 P.M.:  I rested an hour after the last message.   I then chatted with a relative and GEICO.   I then rested briefly.   About 1:30 P.M., my friend arrived with the  1992 Buick Roadmaster station wagon in Burgundy and wood veneer with 113,789 miles on it for $1,000 http://www.kbb.com/KBB/UsedCars/PricingReport.aspx?ManufacturerId=7&YearId=1992&VehicleClass=UsedCar&VehicleId=NC8yMi8yMDA3fDExNDgx&PriceType=Private+Party&ModelId=486&Mileage=110000&SelectionHistory=11481%7c3346%7c06830%7c100%7c10%7c403718%7ctrue%7c403704%7ctrue%7c403731%7ctrue%7c403741%7ctrue%7c403762%7ctrue&Condition=Good&QuizConditions=0 .   A relative is going to send the friend a check for the car, and I will use the insurance check to pay back the relative for the Volvo.   My friend showed me some of the oddities of the car.   We chatted briefly with a neighbor.   I showed my friend the current state of the apartment, since he had not been here in two years.   I filled out the bill of sale on his registration and he signed it.   We are going to leave it registered in his name and insured in his name, until I get up the Connecticut department of motor vehicles later on next week.    I need to have enough money to pay the sales tax on it.  Although, I am buying the car for a $1,000, the book value is about $2,500, so they might charge me 6% sales tax on $2,500 or about $150 plus title transfer and license plate transfer fees.   I made copies of the registration for him and myself, and we put his insurance card and registration back in the car glove box.  I still have his plates on the car.   I drove my friend to the Greenwich Railroad station to catch a 3:01 P.M. train headed east.   He had somebody to pick him up at his destination.   The car has half a tank of gasoline, and it was only driven a couple of thousand miles in the last two years, since the friend has two other cars.   The battery seem charged up enough with him driving it down here.  The automatic transmission was repaired under warranty at 55,000 miles, and I was with him when it broke down coming down from Kennebunkport, Maine many years ago.   The brakes were replaced at 85,000 miles.  The tires show about 2/3rds tread left on them.   The car is very clean.   The car has a boat hitch, which my friend will continue to use the car to take his boat in and out of the water twice a year.    Using premium high grade octane gasoline, the car only gets about 16 miles per gallon the highway and about the same locally.  The car was tuned a short time ago, after it was tuned its gasoline mileage went from 26 miles per gallon to about 16 miles per gallon, so perhaps mileage can be improved.   To fill up the tank will cost over $50.   Still it is very good reliable transportation for me, since I only drive about 3,000 miles a year.   I oiled the door hinges and locks.   The tail gate window would not open properly, and I took a piece of plastic bag out the latch area, and it now seems to work fine.   When I returned home, the driver's side window would not go up quickly, but eventually the power window went up with a  a push and a lift on it.  However, if one only lowers it halfway up and down it works fine.   The car has full climate control with air conditioning that works.   It has a burgundy red leather interior and burgundy with wood veneer exterior.   I have ridden in it many times, so I am familiar with it.  I used a nut and bolt to fasten the open end of the air intake to its fixed position on the front of the car underneath the hood.   I checked the lights.   The small front passenger side blinker bulb needs to be replaced.   I took it out to match it.   I had to fish out the other bulb at that location and reinstall in its lens housing.   I turned the dash lights, so they come on with the head lights.   The car still needs to be vacuumed.   It has a third rear seat folded down.  It is a quite large deluxe car.   My friend knows of several people with the same car with over 200,000 miles.    I think it cost about $29,000 new, and it was one of the demos from the Buick Open sold at Putnam Buick here in Greenwich.  It has rear wheel drive, so it is not very good on snow.   It has a rear Putnam Buick license frame, which my friend says makes me look "Old Guard" .  The remote keyless entry key fob had two dead lithium disk #2016 batteries in it, and I put in two #2025 batteries in it, and it works just fine.   It is missing one piece of black rubber side molding from one of the front doors, and the other piece for the other side is in the rear compartment area.  They could be glued back on.  I also closed up the rear  inside side hatch door which had its latch mechanism slide back a bit, so I pulled it forward, and it worked to close it.  It might need a new air filter, I am not sure.  Although the car is quite clean on the inside and the outside, the engine compartment is quite dusty after all of these years.   The oil is topped up, but it could use a quart or two of coolant antifreeze.   Still the car runs just fine, and it is quite powerful and peppy.  It has full power and accessories, since it was a deluxe model.   I should get floor mats for it, but those might be expensive.   It has carpeting in it now that might get dirty.   I also put a spare tire valve cap on the passenger side front wheel.   The front blinker bulb that needs replacing is in the front seat divider compartment.  After tweaking the car, I uninstalled Microsoft Windows Live OneCare from the primary computer, and I put Norton Internet Security 7 back on it, and that fixed the problems I had with the weather pulse program and the Microsoft Money 2006 program not working.  It was a OneCare beta, so it still has a way to go.   The reinstallation of Norton Internet Security 2007 seems to run better than the original installation.   I put the 60 day demo of it back on the FIC server.   I will now microwave a Stouffer's 16 ounce roast turkey breast dinner, which I will eat with a glass of iced tea.   Earlier I called GEICO, and I took the Volvo off my policy, and I put the Buick on my Policy.  I have the same policy, but this time instead of $500 deductible, I got a $25 deductible which is about $75 more every six months.   Thus I will be paying about $360 every six months.   I think the policy has a lot of liability besides comprehensive, medical, and collision.   I will now do a Vista Complete PC backup from the first hard drive to the second hard drive.  After the backup, I will shut down the primary computer, and I will go to bed.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/21/07 Saturday 10:00 A.M.:  I went out after the last message.   I walked over to the Valley Road Post Office, but they do not open until 8:30 A.M. on Saturday not 8 A.M..   I had put a .39 stamp on the letter to GEICO with the Volvo title.   I paid $7.90 to send it registered mail and $1.85 to get a return receipt for $9.75 total.   For some reason my Microsoft Money 2006 program will not go online, and when I start it up off line, it only shows transactions through March 1, 2007.   Once it goes onl
