105,800, oil and
filter change, engine flush, oil MOA detergent, lubricate and 20 point
maintence inspection, diagnosed at the Greenwich Automotive Service Exxon
service station as having blown head casket and faulty MAF sensor, after I
brought the car there after it stalled out in about 10 inches of water the
night before during a period of flooding in town. I was able to push the car out of the water
and restart it, and it ran rough for a short period. Greenwich Exxon said there was antifreeze
mixed in the motor oil, so more than likely the head gasket was blown. They said there was engine bearing noise, so
the engine would have to be replaced.
The MAF “check engine” light went out, after they serviced it. I added a 15 ounce can of STP motor oil
treatment. $125 total. I chatted with a GEICO insurance agent, and
they said under my comprehensive coverage with $500 deductables, they would pay
to replace the engine, but I should take it to a Volvo dealership for a second
opinion. I dropped the car off at
Stamford Volvo about 5 P.M. on April 17, 2007 for them to check out the
car. They said it would take about an
hour’s time to check out the car. Once
they figure out the status of the car, they will work with GEICO on a
settlement.
