Note: <888> 11/30/08 Sunday 10:45 P.M..   For breakfast I ate a bowl of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with margarine, a glass of passion punch with vitamins and supplements, and a cup of coffee with milk and splenda.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  I made my bed.   I restored the Vista Complete PC backup that I made early this morning.  While doing that I put clean linens on the bed.  I also did two loads of laundry, and I threw out the garbage.  Last night, I also put a new blue toilet tablet in the toilet tank.  I chatted with a relative, and I ordered two books from www.amazon.com for the relative for a gift to another relative.  When the Vista Complete PC backup restore was completed, I uninstalled the Microsoft Intellimouse and Intellitype software for the Microsoft 6000 V2 wireless keyboard and mouse.  I also plugged in the non powered four port USB 2.0 device that I took off the Matsonic computer, and I plugged it into the rear top left USB 2.0 port, and I plugged the wireless set transmitter into it, so I can put it on top of the CPU by the mouse and keyboard, so it is easy to change the frequencies, if I chose to do so.  The primary Vista computer is running just fine without any problems or freezing problems, but I do not have access to the advanced button features on the wireless keyboard and mouse set, but I never really used them anyway.  I backed up the minor changes.  I chatted with two relatives, and a neighbor, when I put my laundry away.  I also printed out two copies of my Microsoft Money 2006 November 2008 income and expense report, and I have one copy ready to mail to an interested relative.  I will now shower and clean up.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/30/08 Sunday 6:05 P.M..  After the last note.  The primary Vista computer was still freezing.  I removed the second LG DVD/RW drive from the computer, and I put it in the Matsonic computer.  I will keep the new one that I ordered as a spare.  I put the cover plate on where the DVD/RW drive was.  I installed the Maxtor 100 Gigabyte hard drive from the Maxtor external hard drive as a third hard drive.  I did a 1% low level format of the first hard drive.  I did a Vista Complete PC backup restore from the third hard drive backup of October 30, 2008 of my new configuration backup.  Once it was restored, I disabled the third hard drive in the CMOS, so it is invisible on the computer to protect the backup.  However, when I rebooted the computer, it still froze in the normal work process, which means I do not have a software problem.  I finally went to bed at 10:30 A.M..  I woke up, and I chatted with a relative. I finally woke up at 5:30 P.M..  I chatted with the relative again.  I booted the primary Vista computer with an older wired Microsoft keyboard and mouse, and so far it has not frozen.  I recall last night that the Microsoft 6000 V2 wireless keyboard and mouse did not freeze the computer with the Intellipoint and Intellitype software uninstalled, so if it does not freeze with the wired hardware, I might try that next.  I have to order some books for a relative for gifts.

Note: <888> 11/30/08 Sunday 5:45 A.M..  I did a Vista Complete PC backup from the first hard drive to the second hard drive and then to the Maxtor external hard drive.  For some odd reason the computer froze again.  The only startup program left to uninstall besides the Microsoft Intellimouse and Intellitype programs and the McAfee Internet Security Suite 2008 was the Creative Program that I never used, but it installed a startup program that one can not uncheck, so I uninstalled it.  I watched part of a British movie with V2 Rocket scenes while doing the backups.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/30/08 Sunday 12:30 A.M..  Well it seems that I have the computer problem fixed that I have had for the last couple of day.  It seems the Microsoft Media program startup files were zapping my wireless mouse and keyboard setups.  I could move the transmitter back to the 7 port USB 2.0 device by the keyboard, so it is easier to reset the frequencies.  However, having it plugged into the computer has its advantages in that I know it turns off, when I turn the computer off.  The lights on the 7 port USB 2.0 device stay on when I turn off the computer, because the power to the power supply of the CPU is still plugged in.  I think the transmitter device is off since the green light on it is off in that position, so I could switch it back around the next time I reboot.   I will now heat and eat the last of the London Broil stew with a glass of watered down passion punch.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/29/08 Saturday 11:40 P.M..  I put the Intellipoint 6.1 and the Intellitype 6.1 on the primary Vista computer, and it still froze with the V2 6000 setup.  However, I ran "msconfig", and I disabled in startup "the Microsoft startup programs "ehtray.exe" and "C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\WMPNSCFG....", and with those two startup programs disabled the computer has not frozen.  I will now uninstall the Intellimouse and Intellitype 6.1 programs and put on the most recent 6.3 version.  Thus the problem might not have had anything to do with Microsoft Wireless 6000 V2 mouse and keyboard set and its drivers, but it might be the two Microsoft Startup programs are causing problems.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/29/08 Saturday 10:45 P.M..  I watered the plants earlier.  Well, tomorrow is the last day of the Hurricane Season.  Thus the local seasonal workers will probably be giving up their rentals to go south to avoid our colder winters.  More than likely a lot of them are probably camped out in their cars in the Darien, Connecticut Interstate 95 rest area heading south for the winter.  They tend to move south fairly quickly since the weather up here is already fairly cold, but not as cold as once winter starts.

My this season hurricane links were at

http://mikelouisscott.com/weather.htm

http://geocities.com/mikelscott/weather.htm .

As far as I know not many people looked at them if any.  However by recent hurricane seasons this was a fairly mild season.  The reason I have familiarity with the north and south seasonal traffic pattern is that I have done it myself, when I was younger.  Also my grandfather Scott worked on the Illinois Central Railroad for 60 years moving a lot of people north and south.  My Granddad Boven from Holland, Michigan before he passed away in 1929 even sent my Grandmother Boven a post card from St. Augustine, Florida around 1925 during a road trip he made from Holland, Michigan to Florida in the old days, when the roads were not as good.

I have been having problems with the primary Vista computer still freezing, even when I tried the Microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse 4000 setup.  I am now using the Microsoft V26000 keyboard and mouse setup again, but to try to solve the problem, I uninstalled the Intellitype 6.3 an the Intellimouse 6.3 programs and drivers, and I am just using the Vista "HID" default drivers.  However, none of the advanced features of the keyboard or mouse are available.  I have a theory since I bought the first Microsoft Wireless 6000 keyboard and mouse system almost a year ago in February 2008 that the software and drivers are buggy causing system problems at least with my primary Vista computer system http://mikelouisscott.com/computer.htm .  CIO

Note: <888> 11/29/08 Saturday 8:20 P.M..  I woke up at 3 P.M..  I surfed the internet.  For breakfast I ate a bowl of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with margarine, a glass of passion punch with vitamins and supplements, and a cup of coffee with milk and splenda.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  I made my bed. I threw out the garbage.  I picked up the mail.  I chatted with neighbors.  I chatted with a relative.  I showered, and I cleaned up.

I paid my bill for electricity to www.cl-p.com , and for Digital Cable Television, Optimum Online Boost, and Optimum Voice to www.cablevision.com , for regular telephone to www.verizon.com , and I ordered seven cartons of King Mountain Ultra Lights 100s in a box from www.ordersmokesdirect.com  for $15.99 each carton and postage of $18.46 for $130.39 total.   I have my rent bill from the Greenwich Housing Authority, and I will pay that this Monday.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/29/08 Saturday 7:30 A.M..  I did a Vista complete PC Backup of the primary Vista computer from the first hard drive to the second hard drive and then to the Bytecc external hard drive.  I ate 1/4th of a 8.5 ounce box of reduced fat Triscuits.  I am a bit tired, so I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go to bed soon.  Now that I am getting older and am a bit more retired, I sometimes think I might have a bit more time than I have had in the past.  Today Saturday, November 29, 2008, the Saturday after Thanksgiving is no longer the Army Navy game, but it is next Saturday 2008 Army Navy Football Game Information, Stats, Hotels, Tickets .  Most of the military intelligence in this country seems to be focused on whom will win the Army Navy game.  A rather large group of people are interested in it.  It seems sort of quaint, maybe they should have an Air Force Marine game, and let the winners of each game play each other in a play off.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/29/08 Saturday 4:00 A.M..  Before doing what I did in the note, I had tested the primary Vista computer with the Microsoft 4000 wireless keyboard and mouse setup from the Matsonic computer, and it worked just fine, that is how I knew there was something wrong with the V2 6000 setup.  I put it back on the Matsonic computer, and I also have moved the non powered USB 2.0 four port hub from the Northgate Syntax computer to the Matsonic computer.  Thus computer wise, I am pretty much back to normal again, for whatever that is worth.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/29/08 Saturday 3:50 A.M..  I think I have fixed the problem.  I disabled the wakeup items in the CMOS.  I also disabled the Serial ports which I do not use.  However that was not the problem.  With the Microsoft Wireless 6000 V2 keyboard, I had a problem when starting the computer, that frequently the keyboard would not work, before the system booted.  I was fixing that by turning off all of the power to the computer and accessories which was sort of tedious.  I had the V2 6000 transmitter plugged into the 7 port USB 2.0 Hub. I moved the V2 6000 transmitter the left port on the upper right back side of the CPU.  One can reach behind if one needs to reset the frequencies.  I put the Ready Boost Hub back in place along side of it, and I plugged the 7 port USB 2.0 Hub into the lower left USB 2.0 port at the bottom of the case.  However, freezing of the computer continued, but the keyboard would work at boot up.  I tested the V2 6000 setup on the Matsonic computer without installing the drivers, and it seemed to work just fine.  I booted the primary Vista computer into Safe Mode, and I uninstalled the V2 6000 transmitter driver, and I also selected the option to delete the drivers.  I then turned off the computer, since the mouse did not work.  I then rebooted into Safe Mode, and the computer installed the Vista Default "Microsoft USB Dual Receiver Wireless Mouse (IntelliPoint)" driver.  I then rebooted the computer into Vista, and so far after about a half hour of regular activity, the system has not frozen, so I guess that is the fix.  It looks like at least on my primary Vista computer http://mikelouisscott.com/computer.htm that the Microsoft drivers that I downloaded for it from Microsoft do not work, but the Vista drivers do.  However, it did work for the first couple of weeks I had it installed, so it is hard to figure out what the problem was.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/29/08 Saturday 12:25 A.M..  I had a problem with the computer still freezing.  I tried reflashing the bios.  I changed some of the CMOS settings, and I even restored my Complete PC backup to a week ago, when I know the system was running fine.  I moved the Ready Boost pen drive to the lower rear left side USB port.  I put a four port USB 2.0 non powered device in the USB 2.0 port where the Ready Boost pen drive was just below the keyboard and mouse ports.  I put the Microsoft V2 6000 sending unit in the four port USB 2.0 device with it hanging over the Radio Shack speaker phone behind the wireless 6000 mouse.  I tried rebooting and the computer froze again.  I then disabled the USB option for keyboards and mice in the CMOS, and I rebooted and installed the Vista Updates.  So far the system has not frozen yet.  I ate a 1/5th piece of pumpkin pie with some low fat Cool Whip on it.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/28/08 Friday 9:05 P.M..  I chatted with a friend.  I will now eat some of the reheated London Broil stew and a glass of watered down passion punch.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/28/08 Friday 9:00 P.M..  I went ahead and replaced the IDE cable on the first hard drive and the first DVD/RW device.  There must have been a problem with it, because when I rebooted Vista recognized both devices like they were not being recognized properly.  I took the www.army.mil advice, and I removed both pen drives from the USB 2.0 7 port device.  I did not remove the pen drive for Ready Boost, since I doubt if it can be hacked, since it file space is totally used up by Ready Boost.  I did reformat it anyway.  I also connected the 12 foot USB cable that I have ready for the Samsung color laser printer to the last available USB port on the rear of the primary Vista computer.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/28/08 Friday 5:45 P.M..  I went out without cleaning up after the last note.  I went by the Chase Bank on Mason Street.  I then went over to Staples in Old Greenwich, Connecticut, and I bought for $70 off a Microsoft 6000v2 Wireless Laser Keyboard/Mouse Combo at Staples® for $29.99 plus $1.80 tax for $31.79 total.   I chatted with another Greenwich resident from Illinois.  Apparently another long term Greenwich resident from Illinois passed away in the past year.  I chatted with a Staples employee fixing a flat tire on his Audi.  I returned back to my apartment.  I have been having problems with the primary Vista computer freezing today.  I tinkered with the CMOS settings before starting up today, and possibly that is the problem.  I think I have returned them back to the way they were before.  Hopefully that solved the problem.  Possibly with all of the file transfers I did last night, I wore out the IDE cable, and if that is the problem, I have plenty to replace them with.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/28/08 Friday 2:30 P.M..  I was awake at 9 A.M. this morning.  I chatted with a friend who was buying an English saddle for his daughter.  Some of the landed gentry could not be bothered with computers, since having a lot of land, they prefer to keep pace with more traditional activities such as maintaining horses.  Personally having been a wharf rat around www.ibm.com , I prefer to stick with computers, since horse stables are full of flies and smell like horse manure.  Although personally, I think horses have one of the best personalities in the animal kingdom.  For breakfast I ate a bowl of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with margarine, a glass of passion punch with vitamins and supplements, and a cup of coffee with milk and splenda.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  I made my bed.

I chatted with a relative.

I ordered Newegg.com - PNY OPTIMA 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory  for $42.99 with free shipping.  I will put both memory chips in the primary Vista computer, and I will leave a similar memory strip in the primary Vista computer, so it will have three gigabytes of memory total.  I will put one of the one gigabyte memory strips I take out in the Epox computer, so it will have two gigabytes of memory, and I will put the 512 megabyte memory strip I take out in the bedroom gigabyte computer, so it has 1.25 gigabytes of memory in it.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/28/08 Friday 12:45 A.M..  Since I put in a 300 gigabyte hard drive in the Maxtor external hard drive case, I have a bit of spare room on the new drive.  I copied most of my files from the primary Vista C: drive to a separate folder on the Maxtor external hard drive.  I did not bother copying most of the common downloads.  I chatted with two friends this evening from Manhattan, and they ventured all of the way out to New Canaan, Connecticut today on the train to visit relatives.  I have lived in New Canaan, Connecticut several times, but as I get older I find I need more urban services that are available in Greenwich, Connecticut.   However, New Canaan, Connecticut is quite a nice town, and people are well read after spending 1.5 hours on the train each way to work every week day in Manhattan.  However, I seem to have the best of both worlds here in Greenwich, Connecticut with the big city life of Manhattan here and the quieter peaceful life in New Canaan, Connecticut.  There is public housing in New Canaan, Connecticut, but there is no municipal hospital.  Most people in New Canaan go to the hospitals in the adjacent communities.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/27/08 Thursday 7:35 P.M..  I went to bed at 6:30 A.M. this morning.  I moved the DeLonghi oil filled radiator from in front of the French reproduction chair to behind the Harvard chair.  One can put one of the folding oak tables which is behind the French reproduction chair in front of the Harvard chair to eat at or work at.  I moved off the bric-a-brac from the place setting on the oak dining table by the primary Vista computer.  I put the spare eye glasses on the eye glass rack by the right side of the bed.  I moved the relish dish with the old cards and the Dutch Inn ashtray to behind the British flag in front of the left hallway bookcase.  The other small items are on the lazy Susan.  I have the power strip on the dining table for the new Matsonic computer that I built that is on the oak dining table on the other side by the Harvard chair, and I strung a 12 foot USB cable from the 7 port USB box of the primary Vista computer underneath the Aubusson carpet to the adjacent spot on the oak dining table by the primary Vista computer chair, so the Samsung color laser printer can go there.  I woke up at noon, when a relative called.  The relative did not think I could afford to buy the Samsung color laser printer, so I called up OfficeMax in Casper, Wyoming, and they told me I could not cancel it, but I could refuse and return it, when it is delivered.  I decided to keep the Samsung Color laser printer, since when I get my Renter's rebate every year, I normally do office systems maintenance improvements.  I chatted with my relative again.  I rested some more until 1:30 P.M..  For breakfast I ate a bowl of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with margarine, a glass of passion punch with vitamins and supplements, and a cup of coffee with milk and splenda.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  I made my bed.  I went outside, and I threw out some garbage, and I chatted with a neighbor.  I showered, and I cleaned up.  I went downtown, and I chatted with a local Norwegian American resident.  I chatted with a resident from North Carolina that works at the House of Fins.  I chatted with a chef from Equator, and I was told what I call Northern Italian Etruscan cooking is actually Scampi cooking.  I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.  I stopped by CVS, and I chatted with somebody else from Equator.  I completed my walk, and I returned home.  Meals on Wheels did not deliver the Turkey dinner today, but I have three pounds of frozen London Broil stew in the freezer, so I am defrosting it in the GE microwave oven, and I will then eat some of it for my Thanksgiving dinner with watered down passion punch.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/26/08 Wednesday 4:30 A.M..  It took me 3.5 hours to assemble the Matsonic computer.  I was done assembling it by 7:30 P.M..  I chatted with a relative.  I ate the last piece of pumpkin bread with two tablespoons of low fat Cool Whip.  I chatted with a relative again.  The Matsonic computer works just great.  I configured it and backed it up.  To have room to back it up, I took out the 80 gigabyte hard drive from the Maxtor external hard drive, and I put in a new Maxtor 300 gigabyte hard drive.  I store the 80 gigabyte hard drive with my Vista original installation backup in the Maxtor box, and I labeled it.  I also took the Creative Live Cam off the Northgate Syntax computer, and I put it on the Matsonic computer.  I put the EzPro Webcam on the Northgate Syntax computer.  I used a two splitter and extra cables to hook up the Hauppauge WinTV Go TV card to the Matsonic computer.  Although the picture comes in clear, I can not get the TV sound to work.  It might have something to do with the low level Creative sound card.  I put in a CRN LAN card, but it causes an error on startup, so I will remove it sometime in the future.  I took the Plantronics headset off the Bedroom Gigabyte computer, and I hooked it up the Matsonic computer.  I put a 3M Command Plastic hook on the right side of the EIZO LCD monitor to hang the Plantronics headset.  I put a generic headset on the bedroom Gigabyte computer.  The top CD player does not work on the Matsonic computer, so I guess in the future when I have the funds, I will put in a DVD drive.  I might order one shortly.  I removed the small folding chair from in front of the bedroom desk.  I put it beneath the television cabinet in the living room.  I put the chair that was in front of the Matsonic computer at the small computer desk, and I move the chair from the small computer desk to the bedroom desk.  Thus if one moves the Harvard chair forward a few inches, one can use it at the oak dining table with the Matsonic computer.   I ate two Nathan hotdogs with buns with ketchup and Dijon mustard and watered down passion punch.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/25/08 Tuesday 11:15 A.M..  I was awake at 6 A.M. this morning.  For breakfast I ate a bowl of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with margarine, a glass of passion punch with vitamins and supplements, and a cup of coffee with milk and splenda.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  I made my bed.  I showered, and I cleaned up.  I strung a LAN cable from the Netgear router to connect up the Matsonic computer.  I put a near RTH power strip underneath the Ethan Allen recliner for power for the Matsonic computer.  I put out the Microsoft Wireless 4000 keyboard and mouse that I will use with it.  I plan to set up the Matsonic computer on the floor by the Ethan Allen recliner with the monitor and keyboard and mouse on the oak dining table opposite the Harvard chair.  I will use a new Citibank mouse pad that I got many years ago as promo at CompUSA in Norwalk, Connecticut.  For the CPU cooler I will use an older Antec CPU cooler that I removed the fan on, and I cleaned the dust off with hot soapy water and a scrub brush, and I used the vacuum cleaner to dry it, and then I put a new CPU fan on the CPU cooler.  I will also put a new Energizer #2032 CMOS battery on the motherboard.  I have an unused copy of XP Professional that I will put on it.  I think I will partition the Maxtor 160 gigabyte hard drive into 70 gigabytes, 70 gigabytes, and 20 gigabytes.  I will use the second partition for backup, and I can use the 20 gigabyte partition for Ubuntu.  I will also set up XP Professional on the first hard drive as a backup server which is simple enough copying the server files off the server, which might take a while.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/24/08 Monday 8:15 P.M..  I reheated and ate the same linguine and tomato meat sauce with grated parmesan and Romano cheese dinner along with a glass of watered down passion punch.  I made up a new batch of passion punch.  I threw out the garbage.  I picked up my mail.  The order with tracking number is "9102901001312000000645" at www.usps.com on the order from Amazon.com: Schumacher SC-1200A SpeedCharge 12/8/2 Amp Charger/Maintainer/Starter/Tester: Automotive for $27.74 with free shipping arrived.  I hooked it up connecting the negative and then the positive to the old NAPA battery, and then I plugged in the power cord to the power, and I set it on medium power, and the NAPA battery is now 82% charged up.  The battery charger is not too heavy, I guess if I ever had to charge up the new battery in the Audi, I could either take out the battery and charge it up, or I could drive it to the east side of the building and use my three 25 foot extension cords to charge up the battery.  However, if there were a lot of snow, or if the access were blocked, I would not be able to use the side door access to a electric plug.  I have to fill out the warranty card for it.   When charing it in the Audi with negative ground, one connects it the positive, and then the negative to bear metal on the car, and then one turns it on.  It has a quick charge feature too.  I chatted with a relative.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/24/08 Monday 6:00 P.M..  I have been busy getting ready to build the Matsonic computer http://mikelouisscott.com/computer.htm , search Matsonic.  I took the old two year old Maxtor 160 gigabyte hard drive out of the FIC server, and I put in the new Seagate IDE 160 gigabyte hard drive.  I had a problem with getting the FIC server to boot, and I had to reformat the Gizmo 2 gigabyte USB pen driver, I use for Vista ready boost, and then it booted.  I restored the backup to the new hard drive, and I installed the updates and changes.  I had to reactivate Vista Ultimate with a call to India.  I did a Vista Complete PC backup from the first hard drive to the second hard drive, and then one to the Bytecc external hard drive.  I took the Crucial 1 Gigabyte memory out of the bedroom gigabyte computer, so it only has 768 megs of memory.  I also took out the ATI AGP 256 megabyte video card, and I put in the Magdog AGP 64 meg. video card.  I also took off the 19 inch EIZO LCD monitor, and I put on a 19 inch Dell CRT monitor.  I installed the updates and drivers on the both the XP Professional and Ubunta partitions.  I did a XP Professional ASR backup from the first hard drive to the second hard drive, and then to the Maxtor external hard drive.  I assembled all of the parts to build the Matsonic computer.

End of Matsonic Computer Parts List:

I put all of the Matsonic computer parts I assembled on the French reproduction chair.

I put the 19 inch EIZO monitor on the oak dining table facing the telephone Harvard chair.  I might set up the new Matsonic computer there, and the only other option is moving the Toshiba laptop off the small computer table, and putting the Matsonic computer setup there, and since the small computer table is already crowded, that probably is not an option.  I put a wooden tray beneath the Harvard chair supported by its lower cross beams, and I put my winter knit caps, gloves, and scarves there.   I ate a one inch piece of pumpkin bread with a couple of tablespoons of low fat Cool Whip.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/24/08 Monday 9:25 A.M..  I have all of the parts I need to build another desktop computer, except the case, so I ordered with discount coupon code of $30 "HGGANTEC30" for $44.99 with free shipping Newegg.com - Antec Sonata III 500 Black 0.8mm cold rolled steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 500W Power Supply - Computer Cases .  CIO

Note: <888> 11/24/08 Monday 8:50 A.M..  I went to bed after the last note.  I woke up during the early evening, and I ate half of a 8.5 ounce box of Triscut low fat crackers.  I made a few telephone calls.  I watched a bit of television.  I went back to bed until 6 A.M. this morning.  For breakfast I ate a bowl of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with margarine, a glass of passion punch with vitamins and supplements, and a cup of coffee with milk and splenda.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  I made my bed.  I chatted with a local security official.

In summary on security problems I have had since I have been on the internet for 18 years.  About 8.5 years ago, I was shot at with a high powered rifle at Tod's Point.  Earlier, in the day before I was shot at I had chatted with a Dr. Palai with a black turban from India on Steamboat Road.  Perhaps, with all of the people from India now running news stands in Greenwich, Connecticut, they are observing us, because Warren Anderson who was president of Union Carbide lived here when the chemical leaked occurred in Bobahl, India killing about five thousand people.

Also my computer systems have been continually hacked over the years for no apparent reason, and possibly it is coming out of India.

I also suspect the Scientologists are up to something, since when I moved into my public housing where I now have lived for 20 years, Ben Little who was the head of the Greenwich Housing Authority was a Scientologist.  I had a neighbor across the hall die recently, and the neighbor whose father worked for British Intelligence had John Travolta visit a year ago who is also a Scientologist.

Also my neighbors who are the African American ministers for the Jehovah Witnesses have told me they do not like a lot of the aspects of the internet.  I noticed yesterday, when I was looking at the zip code form for Best Buy, that their example is Tuskegee, Alabama where the Tuskegee Institute is, so perhaps, since I promote cheaper items that frequently Best Buy does not even sell, they do not like my internet activity, and they might monitor me, since I lived around the Germans in Huntsville, Alabama, before I moved here in 1961.  From my viewpoint, they are wasting their time bothering me, but to have my computer systems hacked and invaded continually over these years, it has gotten me curious at to what if any real motive some individual would even have for bothering me, compared to all of the other content providers on the internet.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/23/08 Sunday 4:25 P.M..  I did some more bottom fishing on the internet.  With the Holiday season arriving, it is probably a pointless effort looking for bargains before the holiday season.  Usually starting about the middle of January until about the middle of February, one can find a few rock bottom bargains on the internet.  Not much else happening.  I chatted with a friend and a local security official.  I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I guess I will go to bed early, and I will be up early.  It is suppose to warm up and rain a bit this week Greenwich, Connecticut (06830) Conditions & Forecast : Weather Underground .  CIO

Note: <888> 11/23/08 Sunday 10:15 A.M..  http://www.platinum.matthey.com/prices/current_historical.html .  One of the primary uses of Platinum is in Automobile Catalytic Converters, so maybe since Platinum has not gone up much recently, there is less demand.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/23/08 Sunday 10:00 A.M..  I chatted with a relative and a friend.  The friend thinks that gold will go to $5,000 an ounce.  I told the friend that my experts on precious metals Henry Jonker from South Africa told me that it is better to buy platinum mining stocks as opposed to holding precious metals or buying gold mining stocks.  I know he has done well with that investment strategy.  At www.cvs.com all of the sale items in their circular seem to have gone up in price this week.  My friend asked me if it were worth buying www.gm.com , and from the news I have seen recently, they think the government might bail them out in March 2009, so the stock might go out a little bit if that happens http://finance.google.com/finance?client=ob&q=NYSE:GM .  However with the economy in recession and credit being tight, it does not look like any financial institutions will be lending money for people to buy new cars, so even if they are bailed out, they will still have financial problems.  However, more than likely if the Big Three Automobile companies go bankrupt, and reorganized, they might be able to sell cars more cheaply with new labor contracts, but also in the worse case scenario, if they went out of business, more than likely the foreign car manufacturers with less competition would raise the price of their vehicles, so ultimately the United States domestic market would end up paying more for foreign vehicles.  The economic bailout has cost the United States Government $5 trillion so far, and if you divide $5 trillion by the U.S.A. population of U.S. POPClock Projection 306 million, it works out to $16,354.6594 for everyone in the United States of America.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/23/08 Sunday 8:00 A.M..  I woke up during the night, and I ate a 9 ounce can of CVS smoked almonds.  I finally woke up at 5:30 A.M. this morning.  It was 65 degrees Fahrenheit inside in the apartment in the warmest part in the living room, and 56 degrees Fahrenheit in the apartment by the outside living room windows, and it was 22 degrees Fahrenheit outside.  I do not think the Farmer's Almanac about it being a mild winter is correct, since we have another month until winter, and it is already fairly cold.  One of my cold weather friends from East Aurora, New York is going to be at a horse show in North Salem, New York next weekend, so the horse people are use to colder weather.  Stewart Mott and Carolyn Kennedy live up there, so since both their families have stock in General Motors www.gm.com  they might be financially strapped, and going back to horses.  I did two loads of laundry, and I put clean linens on the bed.  For breakfast I ate a bowl of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with margarine, a glass of passion punch with vitamins and supplements, and a cup of coffee with milk and splenda.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  I spent 10 years around the The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York: metmuseum.org between 1973 and 1983, so more than likely some Manhattan people saw me around. CIO

Note: <888> 11/22/08 Saturday 7:20 P.M..  I chatted with a friend.  I ate a one inch piece of pumpkin bread with two tablespoons of Cool Whip on it along with some watered down passion punch.  I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go to bed soon.  Stay warm.  CIO

End of Scott's Notes week of 11/22/08:

Note: <888> 11/22/08 Saturday 5:50 P.M..  I received a letter from www.cl-p.com that with my current amount of Energy Assistance that my monthly electric bill at the current level of usage will be $105 a month.  It also said in the letter that I might be eligible for matching payment amounts, but last year when they said that, they told me I was not eligible, since I had the surplus benefits in my account.  I will call up next week about it.

Note: <888> 11/22/08 Saturday 5:05 P.M..  I chatted with a relative.  I chatted with a friend.  My relative told me that if the economic recession gets any worse, and the state of Connecticut can not meet my Section 8 payments to the Greenwich Housing Authority, I could always move to the basement of the family house in Kennebunkport, Maine.  Let's hope the economic recession does not get any worse.  My viewpoint from Connecticut is that they might cut back on medical benefits, before they cut back on Section 8 vouchers for rental assistance, since obviously the legal residents of Connecticut need some place to live.  Since I am legally disabled, I have certain legal protections under the "Americans with Disability Act".  In other words, some people might be poorly informed as to my legal status.  However, if my relative could guarantee me long term housing in Kennebunkport, Maine, it might be interesting despite the 12 feet of snow they get there on mild winters.  However, knowing something about medicine, and worrying about it as I get older, I think I might have better medical care in Greenwich, Connecticut than in Kennebunkport, Maine, particularly since I have spent most of my life around the New York Medical establishment.  Since my relative reads the New York Times in Florida, I am not sure how well aware the relative is of the actual situation here versus what the literary group writes in Florida.  I went downstairs, and I picked up my mail.  I chatted with neighbors having a Craft Fair in the community room.  I bought a small loaf of pumpkin bread in a white ceramic baking dish for $4.  I will have it for desert the next few days with low fat Cool Whip.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/22/08 Saturday 3:05 P.M..  I put some A1 steak sauce and Lea and Perrins Worcestershire sauce on the sautéed steak.  I chatted with a friend.  I turned on the DeLonghi oil filled radiator by the primary Vista computer chair to 4 of 6 settings and medium of three setting to put a little bit of heat by the primary Vista computer chair.  I was told by my friend who lives near the www.cl-p.com power plant in Bridgeport, Connecticut that they are going to raise their electric rates soon.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/22/08 Saturday 1:40 P.M..  I woke up in the early evening after going to bed.  I ate a 9.5 ounce can of CVS cashew nuts and 15 dried apricots.  I watched two half hour episodes on Channel 21 BBC of the British program "As Time Goes Buy".  I went back to bed, and I woke up at 6 A.M..  For breakfast I ate a bowl of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with margarine, a glass of passion punch with vitamins and supplements, and a cup of coffee with milk and splenda.  I made my bed.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  I did some bottom fishing on the internet.  I picked up my yesterday's mail downstairs.  I chatted with a friend.  I showered, and I cleaned up.  It was 65 degrees Fahrenheit in the apartment and 22 degrees Fahrenheit outside.  I chatted with a friend who said it is a lot colder in Vermont.  I dressed up warmly.  I went out, and I went by the Chase Bank on Mason Street.  I then went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.  I used the bathroom at the Senior and the Arts center.  I stopped by the Greenwich Hardware store.  I then stopped by CVS.  I bought two four packs of Duracell 9 volt alkaline batteries for $9.99 each four pack and a one pack of a Duracell 9 volt alkaline battery for $5.49 and $1.53 tax for $27 total.  On buying over $20 of Duracell products, I got $15 CVS bonus bucks.  I then bought two twin packs of Glade Plug-in fresh linen scent refills for $3.99 each and a twin pack of Glade Plug-in Hawaiian Breeze refill for $3.99, and two 50 light strings of clear Italian lights for $1.99 each less the $15 CVS bonus bucks for and .06 tax for $1.01 total.  I got $5 of CVS bonus bucks for buying over $10 of Glade products, so I bought buy one get one free of RTH six outlet power strips for $7.99 both less the $5 CVS bonus bucks for and .18 tax for $3.17 total.  I then walked over the Chase Bank ATM machine on Mason Street.  I then completed my walk, and I used the bathroom at the Senior and the Arts center.  I then stopped by the Greenwich Library.  After I parked, and as I was walking towards, the library, I heard a two car fender bender, when I called the Greenwich Police on 911 on my AT&T wireless telephone, the 911 number gave me the Connecticut State police that transferred me to the Greenwich Police, and I reported the accident.  I told the two drivers I had called the Greenwich Police, and about four minutes later the Greenwich Police arrived.  I then chatted with a couple of the reference librarians.  They are giving free blood pressure screening at the Greenwich Library today.  I chatted with a local plumber.  I then returned home, and I put away my purchases.  I will now make the same sautéed steak and vegetable dinner, which I will eat with watered down passion punch.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/21/08 Friday 1:35 P.M..  I woke up at 5 A.M. this morning.  I did some bottom fishing on the internet.  For breakfast I ate a bowl of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with margarine, a glass of passion punch with vitamins and supplements, and a cup of coffee with milk and splenda.  I made my bed.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  I went outside, and I threw some garbage out, and the old periodical literature.  I moved my car to its usual place.  I chatted with neighbors.  I watered the plants.  I did my regular house cleaning.  I also cleaned the filter on the stove fan.  I listened to www.foxnews.com while doing house cleaning.  I chatted with a relative.   I moved the small teak stand from underneath the Swedish glass globe in the living room window, and I put it underneath the Christmas tree.  I will now eat a baloney and cheese sandwich with a dill pickle slice and 1/4th of a tube of Pringle sour cream and onion potato chips with a glass of watered down passion punch.    CIO

Note: <888> 11/20/08 Thursday 9:50 P.M..  I chatted with a relative.  I took the two ornamental wreaths off the front door, and I stored them away.  I put the Christmas wreath on the front door with a few ornaments.  I put the small two foot high Christmas tree on the lazy Susan on the solid oak dining room table.  I had to take the ornaments and light off, since one of the two strings of lights was burned out.  Instead of figuring out which bulb it was, I put two new strings of lights on it that I had in reserve, and I put the ornaments back on.  I connected the lights to a power strip, so one can turn the lights on and off with the switch on the power strip behind the Christmas tree.  I connected the power strip with a three prong to two prong adapter to an extension cord connected to the power strip underneath the Ethan Allen recliner.  I put some small Christmas candles underneath the Christmas tree.  I repositioned some of the other dining table bric-a-brac including the bronze candle sticks.  I put the four white and gold trim cheese plates on the front of the Lazy Susan with the Christmas butter knives on them.  I put a small green burlap Christmas wreath over the inside of the front door.  I am a bit tired, so I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go to bed soon.  Have a good night.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/20/08 Thursday 7:35 P.M..  I made a three egg omelet with two slices of processed cheese and grated parmesan and Romano cheese, and I also had five strips of fried maple bacon, along with a toasted English muffin with margarine, and coffee with splenda and milk and a glass of watered down passion punch.  I will now put out my Christmas decorations.  I will put the wreath on the outside of the door, and the small Christmas tree on the Lazy Susan on the middle of the oak dining table.  One of the volunteer jobs in Manhattan on the night before Thanksgiving is helping to set up the www.macys.com Thanksgiving Day Parade balloons on the West side of Manhattan on Central Park West.  On a windy night and morning, it takes a large group of heavy people to hold them down.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/20/08 Thursday 6:20 P.M..  Eight O'clock coffee in the big bags is $6 a pound at the Stop and Shop compared to $6.66 a pound at the A&P Fresh.  However, the Stop and Shop only carries the Eight O'clock regular and French roast, and I like Hazelnut and Columbian, so I guess I will be buying coffee at the A&P Fresh for $6.66 a pound.  I know somebody from Brazil http://mikelouisscott.com/photo/mike-scott-and-friend-new-york-1987.jpg whose grandfather owns a million acres of coffee plantation in Brazil, but I guess it costs money to ship it up here.  The last I heard about 10 years ago, Tony Pigato was working for Trans Brazilian airlines.  However, since he knew the His Highness the Aga Khan's 71st Birthday who at the time was the Unites Nations High Commissioner for refugees, more than likely they have not lost track of Tony.  However, since the Aga Khan is a Swiss Citizen, more than likely he is use to cold weather, compared to Tony who would be use to warmer weather.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/20/08 Thursday 5:50 P.M..  I went out after the last note.  I went by the Greenwich Library, and I returned the book on volcanoes.  I noticed one long time patron from Illinois has not been there in about a year.  I guess since he managed a fund, he must have sold out a year ago and returned to Illinois.  He told me he lived in the John Hancock building, so more than likely he could afford to return to Illinois.  I next went downtown, and I sat out briefly downtown, but it was too cold for me, so I went early to my 3 P.M. appointment.  I received a telemarketing call on my cell phone, asking me to push a button, if I wanted to travel that cost me a quarter to answer the phone.  I noticed a United States State Department license plate at my 3 P.M. appointment.  I then went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop.  They have some smaller pieces of furniture in again.  I noticed on Sherwood Place, there was a Cablevision line down hanging across the road with yellow tape on it, that people would not see, so people probably drove into it making it worse.  I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought two Mrs. Smith's 27 ounce pumpkin pies for $2.99 less a dollar off each for the two Mrs. Smith's dollar off coupons I had thus they were $1.99 each, and a 8 ounce container of low fat Cool Whip for $1.25 and Chiquita bananas for .64 a pound for $1.43 for $6.66 total.  I then returned home.  I picked up my mail.  I then thought a bit.  I chatted with a relative.  Mrs. Smith's pumpkin pies are no longer 36 ounces but 27 ounces.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/20/08 Thursday 11:20 A.M..  No bottom fishing bargains today.  I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will shower and clean up, and I will go out.  I will first eat a baloney and cheese sandwich with 1/4th of a tube of Pringle sour cream and onion potato chips and a dill pickle slice and a glass of watered down passion punch.  Most of my neighbors whom are elderly prefer to do things the more traditional way without the internet, since they do not have 20 years they want to spare to become familiar with it.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/20/08 Thursday 11:00 A.M..  I chatted with a relative.  I went outside, and I threw out some garbage.  I chatted with neighbors.  I chatted with the two Greenwich Library book mobile visitors about other libraries.  Since the Scott Library at York University Libraries is opened 364 days a year 24 hours a day, more than likely they will never run out of electricity, since they are near the generating plant at Niagara Falls which is also on the Canadian side of the river too, so Canada also gets electricity from Niagara Falls if you did not know it.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/20/08 Thursday 9:00 A.M..  I ate 5 dried apricots.  I hooked up the little elephant light with the small 20 watt bulb and the Toshiba laptop to the Tripp-Lite UPS device, so if the electric power ever goes off, they will be available to use off the UPS device and ready to go.  CIO

This is the best deal, I can find for a replacement hard drive Sealed Seagate Laptop 60GB 5400RPM 2.5" Hard Drive IDE - eBay (item 320314501619 end time Nov-27-08 11:48:27 PST) for the Toshiba Satellite 2590CDT Laptop which is nine years old.  However, as I said before, I do not think it is worth replacing, since the Toshiba already has its maximum memory installed at 192 megabytes and a 400 Megahertz processor which is a bit slow.  Thus the current 6 gigabyte hard drive that I repartitioned to work with two separate partitions with the two bad sectors and the space eliminated in between will do.   CIO

Note: <888> 11/20/08 Thursday 7:50 A.M..  I had a telephone call from a friend last night that canceled a month's cruise which was going by the coast of Somalia, because they were worrying about pirates.  I woke up at 4 A.M.  Yesterday morning, I restored, the Vista Complete PC backup from the second hard drive, and I updated any changed files, so the system was running fine again.  I then backed it up the Bytecc external hard drive this morning to save any recent changes.  It seems the primary Vista system gets messed up continually, and I have to restore the good backups to get it working again.  I look primarily at web sites from my email, and from what I can tells, possibly the BBC News, Greenwich Times, Forbes, or some other email news links are messing up my computer.  It is hard to tell.  For breakfast I ate a bowl of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with margarine, a glass of passion punch with vitamins and supplements, and a cup of coffee with milk and splenda.  I made my bed.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  I have a 3 P.M. appointment today.  I watched part of the movie "The Edge of the World".  CIO

Note: <888> 11/19/08 Wednesday 7:25 P.M..  I watched the www.nbcnews.com evening news.  For dinner, while I was watching the news, I ate a nine ounce can of CVS smoked almonds with some watered down passion punch.  Well not much happening out here in the far southwestern corner of Connecticut.  I suppose more unemployed people in Greenwich, Connecticut and the neighboring communities will be trying to network around the Greenwich Library Welcome to Greenwich Library.  That is how I got reinterested in personal computers and software 20 years ago, after I lost interest in reading about Wall Street.  I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go to bed soon.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/19/08 Wednesday 12:55 P.M..  I ate 10 dried apricots this morning.  Basically I have done all that I can afford to do in computers in my current setup, so I have only spent a little money to maintain my current setup recently.  Since I never made any money off the internet or computers, although I have worked with them for the last 20 years, and at this juncture with the major worldwide economic downturn and recession, all that I can do is continue to maintain the status quo.  There is not much use in looking at the news all of the time, if it all it does is make one poorer.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/19/08 Wednesday 11:00 A.M..  I was awake at 8 A.M. this morning.  It was 65 degrees Fahrenheit in my apartment.  For breakfast I ate a bowl of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with margarine, a glass of passion punch with vitamins and supplements, and a cup of coffee with milk and splenda.  I made my bed.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  I chatted with a relative.  I threw out some garbage.  I chatted with neighbors.  When I shut down the primary Vista computer last night, I shut it down with hibernate.  However, when I started it up this morning, it still took 15 minutes to start up from hibernate, which is the same as with the regular shut down and start up procedure.  I did some bottom fishing on the internet this morning, and there does not seem to be any bargains.  It seems to me recently that the bargains show up on weekends, when the regular work week people have time to bottom fish.  Nobody seems to be interested in my web activity, which tells people how I manage to get by on minimal income and maintain my internet activity.  I guess most of the regular internet people are still looking for pie in the sky.  My appointment yesterday signed me up to receive a Thanksgiving meal delivered by the Second Congregational Church here in Greenwich, Connecticut.  The local business man that got me the job at www.cbsnews.com back in 1973 use to teach Sunday School at the Second Congregational Church.  However, my family attended the Round Hill Community Church, where I became a member of the Episcopal church after being a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Decatur, Alabama.  We were also members of the Dutch Reform Church in Holland, Michigan, where they raise Butterball turkeys, so we have established protestant roots here in the United States of America.  It would seem to me that, since I am not too active in the local churches in Greenwich, Connecticut that some of the daytime people could try being awake at night most of the time to see what the Maytag repairman viewpoint of Greenwich, Connecticut is all about.  I called up the www.whitehouse.gov telephone comments line this morning, and I suggested to them, since they are barrowing so much money from foreign investors, that they should try to have the automobile companies barrow money from foreign investors. Note: <888> 11/18/08 Tuesday 7:05 P.M..  I went out after the last note.  I went by the A&P Fresh, and I bought a five pound bag of red potatoes for $3.99.  I went by the Chase Bank on Mason Street.  I then went by CVS, and I picked up a prescription.  I bought a Glade Plug-ins Scented Oil Extra Outlets and Night Light device for $6.99 and a two pack of Glade Plug-ins Hawaiian Breeze refills for $3.99 and .66 tax for $11.64 total.  For buying over $10 in Glade products, I got $5 in CVS bonus bucks.  I bought buy one get one free of RTH 6 outlet power strips for $7.99 both less the $5 CVS bonus bucks  and .18 tax for $3.17 total.  I noticed in the rear alley behind CVS just north of the store on the west side of the alley, they have one of those Greenwich Parking Card recharge machines, but you have to use a minimum of $10, and you have to get the card at the Greenwich Town Hall to start out with.  I then went to my 3 P.M. appointment.  While waiting for my 3 P.M. appointment, I read a bulletin on the bulletin board about how to prepare for a worldwide Flu Pandemic that will come sooner or later.  It was quite scary.  They should post it on the internet, where more people can see it.  After my appointment, I chatted with somebody from Columbia.  Apparently, there are a lot of people from Columbia living here now.  I then went by the Greenwich Automotive Services Exxon gasoline station, and I told them I would not need a battery.  I put the 12 ounce container of Pennzoil concentrated fuel injector cleaner in my Audi gasoline tank, and I then put $5 of self service premium unleaded gasoline in the tank at $2.899 a gallon for 1.724 gallons for 26 miles driving since this past Sunday at odometer reading of 61903 miles for 15.0812 miles per gallon driving in mostly local traffic and the I-95 trip to Stamford and back.  I then returned home.  I picked up my mail. UPS had left a delivery for one of my neighbors of Omaha steaks, so I left them outside the neighbor's door.  The Tripp-Lite serial cable arrived.  I hooked it up to the Tripp-Lite UPS and the FIC server, and I installed its software, and I set it to home use, and I set to shut down the FIC computer after two minutes, if the power goes off.  I will now install the Glade scent device in the kitchen with the scent refill it came with.  I will remove the night light with the red bulb.  I don't really need a night light in the kitchen, since I leave the energy saving light on the stove hood on all of the time.  I will put the two power strips underneath the living room desk with the other electric cables.  I will put the spare Glade refills on the sideboard shelf in the bedroom.  I will put the old night light on the side board shelf in the bedroom.  CIO

It has 61899 miles on it with the www.autozone.com Duralast battery installation.  I said good morning to some neighbors.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/17/08 Monday 3:20 P.M..  Both the Autozone Duralast battery and the Sears Diehard are made by Johnson Controls Johnson Controls Inc. | en , so I basically I bought what I could afford on my budget.  I checked the Audi battery compartment again, and it is not a screw that is missing, but possibly part of a plastic clamp mechanism.  However, the plastic cover shield is adequately secure.  I brought up the old NAPA battery, and I put it on a wooden tea tray at the bedroom entrance with the Slaymaker jump start system on top of it.  It will be warmer inside, and since it should be fully charged, I could use it for backup purposes in the future, but at 4.5 years old I don't think it would have been very good for starting the Audi on a very cold day when out in the cold, particularly when I do not drive everyday in the winter.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/17/08 Monday 1:25 P.M..  After the last note, I went out, and I checked underneath the hood of the Audi.  One accesses the battery compartment through a flap behind the engine, but to replace the battery, one pulls off the rubber strip that runs the rear of the rear the engine compartment in front of the battery compartment, and lifts up the plastic covering.  I then went back up to the apartment, and I shut down the primary Vista computer.  I then went out without cleaning up.  I went by the Chase Bank on West Putnam Avenue, and then I used their drive-up ATM machine.  I then drove over to Exit 3 in downtown Greenwich, and I got on I-95 East to Exit 9 in Stamford, and I drove west on U.S. 1 about two miles to www.autozone.com .

I bought AutoZone.com | Shopping | Parts | Product Detail - Battery 48-DL #031698 for $89.99

$5 Core Charge

12 ounces of Pennzoil concentrated fuel injector cleaner for $3.99

two quarts of Castrol GTX 10W-30 motor oil for $3.99 each

7.50 ounce of Fast Orange Hand Cleaner and a roll of Scott mechanic paper towels for $2.19

less a $1.19 discount

plus $6.60 tax

for $116.55 total.

I then returned to my apartment building via I-95 West to Exit 2.

I then removed the covering off the NAPA battery, and I disconnected the negative ground cable and then the positive ground cable, and the base retaining assembly.  I took out the NAPA battery.  I installed the new AutoZone battery the same way.  I did not buy WD40 at www.autozone.com because it was $5.99, but the terminals were clean, and I used the remaining WD40 I had to clean them.  I put the old NAPA battery in the rear of the Audi trunk with a battery carrying strap.  I could store it in the apartment for backup power, but I am not sure I will do that yet.  I have a spot light assembly that would work off of it.  I do not know if I could charge my old NAPA battery with my jump start systems.  I used to have a battery charger, so I will look to see if I still have it.  I think I got rid of it though.  It would be on the right living room closet shelf if I still had it.  I reset the security code on the Audi sound system.  I put the two quarts of Castrol oil and the Pennzoil fuel injector cleaner in the rear trunk passenger side small compartment.  I left the Scott mechanics' towels in the rear of the Audi, and I put the orange hand cleaner on the right side of the kitchen sink.  I chatted with a neighbor.  I did lose the rear retaining plastic bolt on the panel covering the battery housing, but it is secure enough without it.  I can check with Audi later about it.  It fell down into the engine housing.  I chatted with a relative.  I will now eat a baloney and cheese sandwich with 1/4th of a 5.5 ounce tube of Pringle sour cream and onion potato chips along with a dill pickle slice and a glass of watered down passion punch.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/17/08 Monday 9:45 A.M..   I checked with www.autozone.com in Stamford, Connecticut, and they have the battery in stock, but their battery installer will not be there until after lunch today, but they do install batteries.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/17/08 Monday 9:35 A.M.. At www.autozone.com , the AutoZone.com | Shopping | Parts | Product Detail - Battery would cost $95 plus tax, but I do not think I have the tools and know how to install it in my Audi.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/17/08 Monday 9:25 A.M..  At New Country Audi of Greenwich – Serving as your Fairfield, Stamford and Danbury Audi dealer says a new battery replacement there would cost slightly under $300.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/17/08 Monday 9:10 A.M..  I chatted with a relative.  It would cost $160  at Sears, White Plains, New York, Craftsman Tools, Fitness Equipment, Kenmore Appliances, Lawn & Garden - Sears.com to have their International Battery put in.  When I chatted with my relative, I was told to wait until I need a replacement battery, and I might try driving a little bit more now that we have colder weather in order to keep the Audi battery charged up.  Of course that would cost more in gasoline.  Even a new battery would not stay charged up long in the winter, if one did not drive the car a bit to keep it charged up.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/17/08 Monday 8:40 A.M..  Chris at Greenwich Exxon  said he could replace my 1998 Audi A6 battery with the Deka Euro Performance battery for $207.  He said the 4.5 year old NAPA battery is probably on its last legs.  I guess I will have it done soon.  I can afford to have it done, since I received my $600.60 Renter's Rebate.  I guess I will also pay my last two remaining www.geico.com insurance payments to pay off the automobile insurance policy through April 8, 2009 which would be about $235.  I will also have to pay to renew my Connecticut automobile registration, which will be about $85 for the next two years, since it expires in January 2009, but I have not yet received the renewal form for it yet.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/17/08 Monday 8:05 A.M..  I woke up, and I ate the other half of the nine ounce can of CVS smoked almonds.  I chatted with a relative.  I finally woke up at midnight.  For breakfast I ate a bowl of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted bagel with margarine, a glass of passion punch with vitamins and supplements, and a cup of coffee with milk and splenda.  I went back to bed until 4 A.M.. I made my bed.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  If you look at 1998 Audi A6 owned by Michael Scott , the NAPA battery in my Audi is 4.5 years old.  I figure it is probably good for another winter, since I have not had any problems with it.  I checked with Greenwich Exxon , but Chris is not in yet.  I know in two of my previous cars Greenwich Exxon has put in Deka Batteries, and they make these two Euro Performance AGM Battery 9AGM48: BMW, Audi, VW & More! - Remy Battery and Euro Performance Battery 9AGM49: BMW, Audi, VW & More! - Remy Battery , but I do not know whether they will fit into a 1998 Audi A6.  I can call them up at 1-800-455-7400 after 8 A.M. CST.  This more expensive battery here might work Audi A6 Battery (2001-00, V6 2.8L).  However, I figure it would be better to have a garage put in the battery, and the Riverside Service Center in Cos Cob, sells NAPA® Online batteries, which is like the current one that I have in the Audi that cost $107 to install in Kennebunkport, Maine 4.5 years ago.  However, I am just checking around.  As far as I know the current NAPA battery in the Audi is just fine.  It has a cover over it, so if I ever had to use the jump start systems that I have, I have to remove the cover with a flat blade screw driver.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/16/08 Sunday 2:55 P.M..  I ate half of a 9 ounce can of CVS smoked almonds, and I finished off the last five dried apricots of the open can.  I chatted with a relative.  One of these days, I will have to make it to Medallion Auto Parts in Port Chester, NY, New York - Local Business Information for Medallion Auto Parts in Port Chester, New York to buy some Castrol 10W30 motor oil, but there is no rush on that errand.  I chatted with a relative.  Nobody seems to call me up anymore, since I guess the general public finds computer people very boring.  I guess that would be the part of the general public that goes out to pubs for refreshments.  It is rather odd, that the real estate office just south of Starbucks on Greenwich Avenue is advertising small houses in the downtown Greenwich, Connecticut area for $2.5 million, which seems a bit pricey.  I have a friend in the real estate business that is quite cheap and thrifty, and he is available to contact at this web site Country Living Associates Richard Van Marter .  About 12 years ago, he bought a bank repossession next to the Knapp Tree Company in Wilton, Connecticut on three acres for with two rental units and the primary house for $350,000, and he put $100,000 into it, and he was able to sell it about seven years ago for $850,000.  After getting Lyme disease four times in three years in Redding, Connecticut while living in a rental, he finally bought two condos at St. Mary's By the Sea in East Fairfield Beach, Connecticut part of Bridgeport, Connecticut on the waterfront with Long Island Sound for $225,000 each, and he told me he pays $1,250 a year in property tax on each unit, and $225 a month maintenance on each unit, and he rents one unit to pay for the other one.  Thus that must have been the best deal in terms of waterfront property he found.  Of course 22 years ago, I was showing him houses on Steamboat Road in Greenwich, Connecticut for $250,000, and he thought they were too expensive, and he even turned down a chance to buy a two family house in Old Greenwich, Connecticut for $235,000, but it was not on the waterfront.   Thus I guess for now, real estate prices are holding their value a bit in the Greenwich, Connecticut area, but he told me that nothing was selling, and he is doing mostly rentals.  He told me the amount of rentals in the Fairfield County, Connecticut would be this size of a big city telephone book.  I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go to bed soon.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/14/08 Friday 11:30 A.M..  In the video clip on the television two nights ago, when Prince Phillip was visiting the Jamestown, Virginia museum, there was a discussion as to how horses came to America.  In my American education, I was taught the Spanish first brought them here.  However, since Prince Phillip is a world class equestrian he might be right, when he said they came over the land bridge from Asia.  Who knows maybe Gingis Khan brought them over from Mongolia, since we all know the Mongolians are big on horses.  I think the Aga Khan is descended from Gingis Khan, so might know the real truth.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/14/08 Friday 11:25 A.M..  I think the original tenant in the apartment that is having the new floor put in was a short curly haired lady that seemed to be private without many friends.  I still can not recall whom lived first in the apartment where the retired army person lived, but perhaps he was the original tenant.  Both vacant apartments across the hall have views of the baseball field in back, however for elderly or handicapped individuals, one has to walk up six steps from the second floor level, which bothered the previous British tenant with arthritis that passed away.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/14/08 Friday 10:55 A.M..  Well, the apartment immediately next door to me where an elderly African American lady lived for many years use to be visited by her six extremely very large African American brothers, who looked like they could be W. Averill Harriman's railroad porters.  After her, a polish couple lived in the same apartment, and they both passed away, and they use to throw protests at the United Nations, and they were held in German concentration camps in World War II, and they had lived in Argentina, so they also spoke Spanish.  They once had a house guest that looked like the former President of Syria before the current one along with many younger grandchildren visiting.  The current tenant there is a retired vending machine cigarette salesman from Manhattan who looks like Captain Tony from Key West, Florida.  In the apartment on the other side me, there was originally a Greek girl that reminded me of Christina Onassis.  Then there was a long time tenant that was the mother of a building custodian, and they were frequently visited by Amish relatives from Pennsylvania. Currently there is a Vietnamese computer engineer that learned computers at Oxford University, and now teaches www.yale.edu.  His frequent female companion works for a Chinese airline.  The tenant beyond that apartment was originally a long time tenant that was a nurse, so she would sit up reading all night and eventually moved to California with family where she passed away, and the current tenants are Parks and Recreation employees, and the female spouse who recently passed away had been a Greenwich Hospital cafeteria employee.  The apartment on the other side away from the nearest apartment had some original tenant that I can not remember, and then a long time tenant that was retired from www.army.mil and had been a custodian for the Board of Education, so he walked a lot having been in the Army.  The current tenant is a retired librarian like another tenant.  Of course there are probably some tenants in the building that I have never seen before like the family of illegal aliens living in the attic.  Also the African American family that run a ministry in town lived in the apartment where the tenant passed away across the hall before they moved elsewhere in the building and before them a younger disabled girl that did not go out much and before that I can not remember right now.  Obviously I keeping track of some many things to do with computers and the internet, I can not remember everything.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/14/08 Friday 10:05 A.M..  After dinner, I chatted with a relative.  I called the Greenwich Housing Authority at 1-203-869-1138, and I reported the smoke incident and the possible problem with the central building fire alarm system.  I saw the building custodian and unknown younger female with a cap go into the apartment across the hall where the neighbor died in August 2008, and the flooring people are currently putting in a new floor.  As I recall, the neighbor use to keep her medications for arthritis condition in the walking cane she carried around with her, so possibly they think she was up to something illegal.  The neighbor claimed her family worked for British Intelligence at the United Nations, and the neighbor also was the first person I knew of backing Obama two years ago.  She also backed Ned Lamont.  I do know the neighbor had lots of visitors, when she first moved in, and she said they were all relatives.  They did look like well known personalities such as Al Gore, Bill Clinton, and current president Bush.  She also had a female visitor from New Zealand, and a year before she passed away, she told me she had over John Travolta to visit, and I recall from television, he is a pilot.  Thus whatever British Intelligence operations they might still be still running could revolve around moving around people whom look like well known personalities, and at the same time her immediate relatives would also visit her frequently.  It is the nature of the social group in Greenwich that they tend to know a lot of people in the area, and my viewpoint, it was just more people for the local neighborhood watch.  The apartment adjacent to it, is where Kennedy security use to hang out, once his elderly sister vacated the apartment after a long time.  Now that both apartments are vacant, I assume I will have new neighbors to observe from my Maytag repairman viewpoint.  When I was younger, and I had more guests, I once had a friend that was a frequent visitor show up at 4 A.M. on Saturday morning after the bars closed in nearby New York, and he was with a Bill Gates and a Prince Charles look-a-alike, and I would not let them in the apartment, since they looked like they had been drinking, so possibly there are other people whom look like other people.  If I were casting Obama in a script, I would cast him as a rest room attendant or a waiter.  If you have observed as many people in one's life as I have, you would know there are a lot of people that look like other people in this world, and frequently people try to take advantage of that fact.  Most established people tend to be more private, and not seen as much in the public eye, since they can afford employees to help them with the every day activity in running their lives.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/14/08 Friday 8:30 A.M..  I was cooking the same meal as the last four dinners, and I must have pressed the Sharp Convection Microwave buttons wrong, and it started to smoke.  I turned it off, and I called "911", and I told them that the building smoke alarm might go off, but there was no problem but just smoke in the apartment.  They said, they would send over somebody from the fire department anyway.  I then opened the apartment door, and I used the two tower fans and the air purifier, the kitchen fan and the bathroom fan to cleat the air, and I called "911" to tell them, it did not look like the building smoke alarm was going off.  Also none of the three smoke detectors went off in the apartment, so I guess most of the smoke was confined to the kitchen and went out the adjacent front door to the hallway.  I guess I should put a smoke detector in the kitchen, but that might go off too frequently with the way I cook.  Two firemen arrived, and checked out the situation.  They said I should have the central building fire alarm checked, since it did not go off with the smoke in my apartment.  I chatted briefly, and they departed.  Most of the smoke seems to be out of the apartment.  I am now recooking the same meal as the last four nights, and there it is nothing wrong with the Sharp convection microwave oven, one just has to make sure one pressed the button in the right sequence.  I think I pressed "broil" instead of "convection" button before 350 Fahrenheit and then the time 35 minutes for the breaded boneless breast of chicken.  CIO

Subject: What percent of the Obama campaign donations defaulted on to banks and credit card companies and other financial institutions?

November 14, 2008

What percent of the Obama campaign donations defaulted on to banks and credit card companies and other financial institutions?

It would seem to me that probably a large percent of the Obama campaign contributions from relatively poor people making large contributions was probably defaulted on to the various financial institutions that leant them the credit to make the campaign contributions, and then the democrats in both houses bailed out the financial institutions in the bailout plan.

It would seem to me that this would be massive federal campaign contributions fraud and with democrat Chris Dodd as chair of the Senate Banking committee, it would seem to me that the democratic party has used federal funds to fund their victory, and that they have ignored the Federal contributions law, since they have a majority in both houses.

It would seem to me that if it were true, there were massive credit defaults on federal campaign contributions from democrat supporters, the democratic party could be sued in Federal Court, and the United States Supreme Court could overturn the democrat victory in the federal Presidential election.

Sincerely Yours,

Michael Louis Scott

I had not used the HP Photosmart C4280 printer to print out any photos yet, so I figured out one has to put the 4 inch by 6 inch photo paper in the right side 4 inch by 6 inch carriage with the print side facing down, which is the side without the grey letters, and in the print window for the printer select the advanced HP option for 4 inch by 6 inch color with white frame and then in the print window select fit to paper, and I printed out a family picture of two relatives from Kennebunkport, Maine this past summer, and another picture of the British Royal family at the veterans day ceremony The Prince of Wales - The Queen led the nation as it paid its respects to Britain's war dead at the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday , and I let them dry 15 minutes.  I then put a sheet of white paper cut to fit over the picture of Howard Hughes in the Plexiglas frame over the front door, and I put the two pictures in held in place by Scotch tape looped around to be two sided, and I put the frame with the new pictures over the center front door on the inside.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/14/08 Friday 3:10 A.M..  Before going to bed this past afternoon, I ate 5 dried apricots.  I was given this web site about how some young people in Syracuse, New York hope to solve the energy crisis http://www.alchemicalnursery.org/ .  Of course when I dealt with Jimmy Eldert from Syracuse, New York when he was down in Key West, Florida, he was a vegetarian into yoga and holistic medicine, but he told me the first thing he did when he got back to Syracuse, New York was eat a roast beef dinner.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/14/08 Friday 2:40 A.M..   Well, they finally lighted up the New York Metropolitan area NexSat, NRL/NPOESS Next-Generation Weather Satellite Demonstration Project .  I am beginning to think the government satellite photographs are not too accurate, since there were no lights in the New York City metropolitan area two nights ago.  After the last note, I went by the Greenwich Hardware store, and I mailed the RMA video card return from the order Visiontek Radeon X1300 XGE 512MB AGP DDR2 DirectX 9 Video Card - 900102 - Buy.com for $36.99 with free shipping via UPS prepaid shipping UPS: Tracking Information .  If you figure it is suppose to be in Fremont, California on November 20, 2008, and it takes 10 days to process, and it takes another week to ship back, I guess I can not expect the replacement until around the end of the first week of December 2008.  If I should need to use the Epox computer in between then I could always move the video card from the bedroom gigabyte computer back into the Epox computer, but there is no rush.  I then went to my 3 P.M. appointment.  I then returned home.  I chatted with a couple of neighbors, and I picked up my mail.  I went to bed about 4 P.M..  I got up at 11:30 P.M..  For breakfast I ate a bowl of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted bagel with margarine, a glass of passion punch with vitamins and supplements, and a cup of coffee with milk and splenda.  I called up www.geico.com at 1-800-42GEICO, and they are still away in Georgia and San Diego, California.  I chatted with Microsoft in Redmond, Washington, and they are still awake.  I washed the breakfast dishes, and I made my bed.  I will now water the plants.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/13/08 Thursday 1:15 P.M..  I got an RMA, and I will ship it back paid by buy.com via UPS to Fremont, California.  It probably will take a couple of weeks to get a new one back.  Instead of eating dinner, I will eat a baloney and cheese sandwich with 1/3rd of a tube of Pringle sour cream and onion potato chips and a dill pickle slice and some watered down passion punch.  I will then shower and clean up, and I will go out and mail it at the Greenwich Hardware store that has UPS pickup and go to my 3 P.M. appointment.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/13/08 Thursday 12:45 P.M..  I chatted with a relative.  FedEx | Track is out for delivery for the order Visiontek Radeon X1300 XGE 512MB AGP DDR2 DirectX 9 Video Card - 900102 - Buy.com for $36.99 with free shipping arrived at 9:00 A.M..  I picked it up downstairs, and I chatted with neighbors.  I tried it on two different computers, and I called up VisionTek, and we determined that it was defective.  When I was packing it in the box to ship back, I noticed there was some sort of small diode in the box that had come off the video card, so I guess that is why it did not work.  I will get an RMA and return it to www.buy.com once I have time.  I chatted with a friend.  I will now make and eat the same dinner as the last four days.  I have to then shower and clean up.  I have a 3 P.M. appointment today.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/13/08 Thursday 6:40 A.M..  I decided to be a bit more anglophile in my apartment decoration, so although I have the British Union Jack on display on my left hallway bookcase, I moved the United States of America stars and stripes flag beneath the British Union Jack on the right hallway bookcase, and I moved the Cross of St. Andrews Scotland flag to on top on display in front of the right hallway bookcase.  I have a 3 P.M. appointment today.  It is misty outside, so I will not be going out for a walk this morning, and I will just stay home and do some regular computer routines.

Note: <888> 11/13/08 Thursday 6:20 A.M..  I woke up at 7:30 P.M..  I had a telephone call from a relative.  I watched the British Monarchy program for two hours.  I then watched an hour program on Prince Charles.  He was wearing a green onion or scallion on his lapel in one segment.  He should remember, since most of his income is derived from dairy farming that if you grow scallions around dairy cattle even if they are organic, the milk will taste like onions if the dairy cattle eat the scallions.  For breakfast I ate a bowl of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted bagel with margarine, a glass of passion punch with vitamins and supplements, and a cup of coffee with milk and splenda.  I went back to bed until 4:30 A.M..  I thought I heard some sort of animal moving around the false ceiling above my bedroom, but I did not investigate.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  I made my bed.  I finished off the open can of dried prunes eating five prunes, and then I open a can of dried apricots, and I ate 10 dried apricots.  I went outside, and I moved my car to its usual place.  I picked up the mail from yesterday.  I received a letter from Verisign to do a survey, and I will receive a $10 gift card from www.amazon.com .  I installed the Vista updates on the Northgate Syntax computer.  The next British Monarchy segment is Wednesday November 19, 2008 at 8:00 P.M. on channel 13 PBS and then at the same time and channel on Wednesday November 26, 2008, the day before Thanksgiving Channel 13 PSB Monarchy: The Royal Family at Work . Note: <888> 11/12/08 Wednesday 1:45 P.M..  After dinner, I chatted with a relative.  I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go to bed soon.  I have to be up at 7:30 P.M. to watch today Wednesday November 12, 2008 at 8 P.M. ET on PBS, there is a television special "Step Inside the World of the Windsors, Monarchy the Royal Family at Work".  Monarchy: The Royal Family at Work | PBS .  Also Prince Charles 60th birthday is this Friday; Prince Charles' 60th birthday is November 14, 2008 Charles, Prince of Wales - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, so he will probably have to withdraw from private life to make some sort of public appearance for the worldwide media that cover the British Royal family Welcome to the official web site of the British Monarchy, since there are 2.5 billion people in the British Commonwealth of Nations that England has networked up with Commonwealth Secretariat - Member States.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/12/08 Wednesday 11:55 A.M..  I went out after the last note, and I chatted with a neighbor.  I scraped the early morning frost off my Audi windows.  I drove over to Walgreen's in Old Greenwich, and I bought two 100 count boxes of Splenda for $2.99 each box for $5.98 total.  They only have Shell and Pennzoil motor oil there.  I then went over to Staples, and they cheerfully exchanged the Microsoft Wireless 6000 mouse and keyboard set, and they gave me the newest model that comes with a USB pen drive transmitter Wireless Keyboard 6000 .  I then returned home.  I removed the older mouse and keyboard drivers.  I then shut down the computer, and I removed the temporary 4000 set.  I then installed the USB pen transmitter in my USB hub just underneath the keyboard and near the mouse, so for it to work that hub has to be turned on at the control panel.  I set up the keyboard and mouse, and they worked fine with my system.  I then installed the latest drivers.  I then registered the new 2 year warranty with www.staplesesp.com .  The warranty from Microsoft is one year, and for $7.99 on a under $59.99 purchase last February 2008, I bought the additional warranty for another year from Staples.  The new wireless laser 6000 set is much more responsive than the previous set.  Let's hope it lasts a little longer.  I will now make and eat the same dinner at the last three nights.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/12/08 Wednesday 7:35 A.M..  I ate a triple Decker baloney and cheese sandwich with a dill pickle slice and 1/3rd of a tube of Pringle sour cream and onion potato chips and watered down passion punch.  When I go over to Staples, I will also stop by Walgreen's to see if they have some Castrol 10W30 motor oil.  I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go out as soon as I change into warmer clothes.  While over in Eastern Greenwich or Old Greenwich, I could take a tour of Tod's Point, but that would use up a lot more gasoline, and more than likely I will just return home.  There is no point in observing the downtown crowd, since they always ignore me anyway.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/12/08 Wednesday 6:40 A.M..  Judging from the fact that American Express is having financial problems, along with the existing financial problems, it looks like both political parties maxed out their credit in trying to get elected.  Now that some of them have been elected, I hate to think what they are going to do the economy already in crisis.  When Germany had similar problems in the 1930s and there was a large amount of inflation, a trillion marks would not even buy a dozen eggs, and people had to use wheel barrows to move their cash around.  I even have old German postage stamps which are marked over in trillions of marks.  A relative told me that Circuit City also had to close in Vero Beach, Florida; and the local Florida news says that many of the Florida tourist destinations are not very busy.  However with higher energy prices and colder weather up north, we are not much better off if at all up north, and at least it is warmer in Florida providing you have some place to stay inside.  Also food tends to be cheaper in Florida, since a lot of it is grown there, and does not need to be shipped.  The motto of the state of Florida is, "In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash."  CIO

Note: <888> 11/12/08 Wednesday 6:00 A.M..  After the last note, I had a technical problem.  The FIC server shut down to reboot after installing the latest Vista updates, so I restarted it again.  At the same time, the primary Vista computer crashed.  When I went to start the primary Vista computer, the Microsoft wireless 6000 keyboard would not work.  I tried turning off everything and then rebooting, and the keyboard would still not work.  The sending unit for the Microsoft wireless 6000 keyboard and mouse did not have its green light come on when I tried to reconnect it thus it was not working.  I tried a different USB port, and it still would not work, so I disconnected it all, and I installed my backup Microsoft wireless 4000 keyboard and mouse, and the system worked just fine.  When I booted up the primary Vista system, I checked the Vista updates, and it prompted me to install 29 updates for mostly Microsoft Office programs.  After installing them it prompted me to install 15 Microsoft Office and Vista updates, so I installed them.  I then did a Vista Complete PC backup from the first hard drive to the second hard drive.  I had the Microsoft wireless 6000 keyboard and mouse replaced in early October 2008 under the two year warranty that I have, and it looks like I have to go back over then, when they open at 8 A.M. this morning.  Since I have not experienced any problems with hackers recently, I assume it is a hardware failure.  Just to be on the safe side, I disconnected the Optimum Voice telephone line from the two line telephone port box by the Brother all purpose machine, and I connected it directly to the Brother machine, and I changed the two line telephone port box to the Verizon switch for the Verizon telephone lines on the small computer desk to the left of the primary Vista computer.  Thus there is no Verizon telephone line connected to any of the primary Vista computer devices.  I have had problems in the past with hackers using the Verizon telephone line.  One night about two years ago, I had the bioses flashed on three of the computers connected to the Verizon telephone line for backup.  I also moved the small wicker chair from the small computer desk to the bedroom desk, so it is easier to access that area, and I moved the larger wooden chair from the bedroom desk to the oak dining  table opposite the closets, and I moved the wooden chair from the oak dining table to the smaller computer desk, where it fits in just fine.  I have not been getting much sleep recently, so I do not have the energy to go out for a walk this morning.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/12/08 Wednesday 2:20 A.M..  For the month of October 2008, I paid my monthly average bill of $137, and the actual usage amount was about the same at $136.10.  I did not use electric heat or much air conditioning in October 2007.

For October 2008, the average temperature was 51.9 degrees Fahrenheit compared to October 2007, when it was 59.7 degrees Fahrenheit.

The October 2008 usage per day was 22.80 kWh for a total of 684 kWh for 30 days.

For October 2007, the usage per day was 34.87 kWh for a total of 1046 kWh for 30 days, so I used about 40% less electricity this past October 2008, when it was on average 7.8 degrees Fahrenheit colder.  Thus I had a bit of savings by not using as much electric light or heat or air conditioning or hot water.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/12/08 Wednesday 1:25 A.M..  I woke up at 10:30 P.M., and I chatted with a relative in Florida.  Apparently the economic recession is a lot worse down in Florida than around here.  I went back to bed until 11:30 P.M..  For breakfast for a change, I made a three egg omelet with two slices of processed cheese and grated parmesan and Romano cheese, and I also had three strips of fried maple bacon, along with a toasted bagel with margarine, and coffee with splenda and milk and a glass of 50% passion punch and 50% cold filtered water along with vitamins and supplements.  I made my bed, and I washed the breakfast dishes.  I threw out the garbage.  There was not mail today on the Veterans Day holiday.  I will now shower and clean up.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/11/08 Tuesday 4:10 P.M..  It sounds like the Roosevelt family is still down in Key West, Florida Key West Hotel Resorts & Florida Keys Beach Accommodations - Casa Marina Resort Key West .  Of course some of the people whom could not afford the gasoline to drive further south are living comfortably at the John's Island Club which is more private.  Some people when they get older, and they have seen it all enjoy being around a few old friends, and once they have seen the world, and they pretty much know what is going on, they seem to enjoy a little bit of privacy.  From what I know residential lots at John's Island have to have Club memberships which can cost over $350,000 for the club memberships plus annual dues, so there are obviously other alternatives in the world of resorts, but my family has been going to Vero Beach for a long time, so more than likely if I ever make it down south in the future, I will probably be returning to Vero Beach, Florida.  I still have a $200 ticket credit on American airlines that is good until about mid January 2009.  However, having not traveled very much recently, I tend to be a bit afraid to fly on the old worn out aircraft that we are still flying in this country, and you can not smoke on the trains anymore, and I do not think I could handle a two day drive to Florida, so more than likely I will not be disrupting my family's Florida routine to help out with any grocery shopping tours in the near future.  Since I am use to working on the computer all of the time, I do not really know how to take time off, and I do not feel it is necessary to compete with the Florida Chamber of Commerce, since I pretty much know more about Florida than most people.  Maybe with all of the people down in Florida, we might get a few visitors on the return up north, but they never contact me, since I have more conservative viewpoints.  I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go to bed soon.  I have a feeling one of the reasons the economy is down is there have been too many executive conferences down south.  CIO

but I have been chained to my computers for the last 18 years, so I have pretty much lost track of everything else around me.

According to Michael Louis Scott's Resumee , I logged on to the internet in September 1994, but I can not recall if it was the internet or computer Bulletin Boards via telephone BBS.  I do know for about two years or more before I got on the internet, I was using computer bulletin boards via telephone, and I even lost my telephone for a while because of excessive long distance telephone charges.  Thus I was all ready working with computers by the time I went to the Albertville Olympics in the winter of 1992, so I would say it was probably around August 1990 or 1991 that I bought my first personal computer an Apple IIE for $100 from somebody at a tag sale on Round Hill Road from Belgium that worked for J.P. Morgan, and within  a few months, I bought a Compaq 286 for $300 from Andy Ousterhaut up in New Canaan, Connecticut before he moved back to Illinois.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/11/08 Tuesday 1:15 P.M..  I woke up at 10 A.M..  I watched some news.  I watched a program about sea life and volcanoes underneath the ocean on channel 727.  I then watched a program about England on channel 727.  While doing that I noticed that the order with tracking is FedEx | Track is on the order for PacificGeek.com - Tripp Lite SmartPro Tower GEEK Members SAVE $150 700SER  for $49.99 and $4.99 shipping for $54.98 total had arrived about 10 A.M. this morning.  I went downstairs, and it was in the mail room.  I brought it up, and I opened it up.  I put it underneath the keyboard of the primary Vista computer on the right side on top of a sheet of Plexiglas.  I connected it to the lower power control panel on the computer switch.  I connected both primary Vista computer and the FIC server to it.  In the United States and Canada one turns on the switch in back to On.  One turns on the UPS with the switch on the upper left front http://www.tripplite.com/shared/techdoc/Owners-Manual/931424.pdf.  It works just fine, and with the both computers running and the existing charge it had when it arrived, the computers stays on when I turn off the power control panel switch to simulate a power failure briefly.  Of course when fully charged the power reserve is only 6 to 20 minutes, so it is to permit a controlled shutdown or prevent power interruption during a brief power surge spike failure which also protects the computer equipment along the existing surge protectors.  One does not plug surge protectors into the UPS device though, since they can damage the device.  I stored away the shipping box for now.  It did not come with its serial cable which I can order so I can use the software with it.  I ate three bowls of white Cheez-its and 5 dried prunes along with some watered down passion punch.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/11/08 Tuesday 6:10 A.M..  Earlier this past summer, when I rearranged the apartment, I took down the larger flags from in front of the living room curtains, and I moved the smaller flags to the center hallway bookcase.  Since I have the flags, I decided it might be useful to display them, so I moved the smaller flags to on top of the left hallway bookcase.  In front of the right hallway bookcase, I put the larger Scottish flag of St. Andrews, and then on top of it the British Union Jack, and then on top of it, the United States of America stars and stripes.  In front of the left hallway bookcase, I put in some longer screws to hold more flags.  Then in this order, I put the Saudi Arabian flag, the United States Air Force flag, the Bermuda flag, the Swedish flag, the Dutch Tricolor flag, and finally on top the British Union Jack flag.  Thus currently the British Union Jack flag is showing on the left side, and the United States of America stars and stripes is showing the right side, with smaller flags above the left hallway bookcase.  Thus the flags can be easily rotated depending on which refugees might take shelter during the winter months in their course of traveling around the world.  In the warmer months, we get a much larger diverse group of people, so more than likely because it is warmer, they do not need to take shelter.   Of course now all of the items on display in the bookcases are no longer on display.  I moved the Prince Charles and Camilla and family wedding photographs frame to in front of the large potted plant in the window on top of the Lazy Susan.  Thus we are a bit more Anglophile in the apartment decorating.  CIO

I did some bottom fishing on the internet.  For breakfast for a change, I made a three egg omelet with two slices of processed cheese and grated parmesan and Romano cheese, and I also had four strips of fried maple bacon, along with a toasted bagel with margarine, and coffee with splenda and milk and a glass of 50% passion punch and 50% cold filtered water along with vitamins and supplements.  I made my bed, and I washed the breakfast dishes.  I threw out the garbage, and I picked up yesterday's mail.

When I visited the Medici Palace in Florence, Italy in the winter of 1972, all of its walls were covered with art, and when I visited Versailles in the winter of 1992, they had lots of mirrors on the walls, so my apartment reflects their interior decoration a bit.  However, neither place had furniture, and I can afford a little bit of furniture in my apartment.  However, I am similar to them on another aspect, in that neither place was heated, and neither is my apartment for now, but it is currently 72.3 degrees Fahrenheit in my apartment.  I do not turn on the primary lights, since it warms the apartment up too much, but once it gets colder, I will turn on the lights for a few degrees more of warmth.  I had a telephone message from a local Vermont person who was driving down from Great Barrington, Massachusetts.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/10/08 Monday 2:45 P.M..  I finished installing Ubuntu 8.10 on the secondary partition on the bedroom Gigabyte computer, and I configured it a little bit.  Open Office 2.4 is installed on it, but the automatic updates do not install Open Office 3.0 on it, and I do not know how to install Linux program except through the Ubuntu installer.  The two printers connected to it work to.  However, there is no Linux driver for my network printers.  I ate 7 dried prunes.  I am a bit tired, so I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go to bed soon.  Have a good afternoon, and enjoy the warmer weather while it lasts.  I guess this might be a late season Indian Summer.  There are a whole lot of new faces in town, and last week I saw a whole lot of new faces, so I guess with all of the new business people more activity is happening in town than in the past.  Besides the four new buildings on Greenwich Avenue under construction and also the new police and fire station, there is also the new apartment complex across from the Delamar under construction, and also the two larger office building across the street from the Greenwich Library are being remodeled.  Also in the past years, we have a new hospital, library, YMCA pool, and the Hamilton Avenue school, and there also has been a tremendous amount of new home construction in back country, along with all of the new residential complexes downtown.  Thus depending on the comings and goings of our local population, you see plenty of people coming and going in the day time.  I have also heard rumors that there has been a lot of new construction in the neighboring communities.  It all seemed to have started with the new airport with most of its flights from Atlanta and Chicago.  Well, we are cooler that Atlanta and warmer than Chicago, or the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/10/08 Monday 11:35 A.M..  The bedroom gigabyte computer has a second 20 gigabyte hard drive that I use for XP Professional ASR backup.  Since the backup is only about 7 gigabytes, I repartitioned the second hard drive into a D: drive with 9 gigabytes that I am doing the XP Professional ASR backup on again.  Thus there is about 10 gigabytes of unpartitioned space on the second hard drive.  After the backup finishes, I will put www.ubuntu.com 8.10 on it.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/10/08 Monday 10:25 A.M..  I went out after the last note.  I chatted with a neighbor.  I went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.  I sat out at various locations.  On the way up Greenwich Avenue, I used the bathroom at the Senior and the Arts center.  On Sunday, when I was downtown, I noticed the Senior and the Arts center now has three regular grey squirrels and three regular black squirrels.  On the way up Greenwich Avenue, I stopped by the Greenwich Hardware store, and I briefed them on Windows 7 which is suppose to be available Christmas 2009.  I stopped by CVS, and I bought a Renuzit air freshener for .99 and .06 Connecticut sales tax for $1.05 total.  Coming out of CVS, I ran into another regular walker, and I walked with him from the top of Greenwich Avenue as far east at Christ Church and back downtown.  They are just finishing repairing the sidewalk in front of the new Y.M.C.A. swimming pool.  I then use the bathroom at the Senior and the Arts Center.  I put the Renuzit air freshener in the passenger side rear map holder, so there is better scent control in the Audi.  Frequently, when automobiles are not garaged, they get a musty odor from the additional dampness that they endure.  I then returned home.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/10/08 Monday 6:45 A.M..  I ate the same dinner as yesterday morning.  The tide chart for Greenwich, Connecticut is on my homepage at the bottom.  There is suppose to be high tide at 8:04 A.M. this morning, if anyone wants to do some drift fishing off the pier on Steamboat Road.  I figure with $3 a gallon gasoline and since I get about 11 to 12 miles per gallon in town driving, so about 11.5 miles per gallon, and it is 5 miles round trip to the Senior and the Arts center and 7 miles round trip to the bottom of Steamboat Road from my apartment at 71 Vinci Drive in Byram, Connecticut, it costs about 26 cents a mile for gasoline to drive or about $1.30 round trip to the senior and the arts center and $1.82 round trip from here to Steamboat Road.  I also pay slightly over $2 a day for automobile insurance.  However, it is the way I get exercise walking Greenwich Avenue when the weather is decent.  I tend to feel better if I get out a bit, particularly during the daytime after so much night time activity, and the morning is not to busy around here.  I also did a Vista Complete PC backup from the first hard drive to the second hard drive.  I will now shut down the primary Vista computer.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/10/08 Monday 3:20 A.M..  I woke up at 5 P.M., when a relative called and told me about making cold white Spanish almond soup.  I slept until 11 P.M..  The primary Vista computer was finished defragmenting the C: drive.  I then did a quick Microsoft Windows Defender scan.  I restored the power saving sleep feature to one hour.  I installed Microsoft Silverlight.  I installed the latest version of the Read Basic player.  Thus the primary Vista computer seems to be running just fine.  Earlier on Sunday, when I was looking at a BitTorent web page on Windows 7, the McAfee Internet Security Suite 2008 blocked certain programs from loading, so I think the computer is still all right.  For breakfast I ate a bowl of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted bagel with margarine, a glass of passion punch with vitamins and supplements, and a cup of coffee with milk and splenda.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  I made my bed.  I chatted with www.geico.com out in San Diego, California about some of my viewpoints on the current state of the world.  I chatted, and I cleaned up.  When I try to run the Windows Experience Index, the computer still crashes, so it is probably caused by the Nvidia drivers on my Nvidia GeForce 6200 AGP and PCI video cards for the four LCD monitors.  I am now using the October 2006 drivers, since I can not find the April 2006 drivers.  There is a recent October 2008 driver, but the earlier recent release cause the computer to crash with the two Nvidia cards.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/09/08 Sunday 2:50 P.M..  I put BitTorent on the primary Vista computer in case I want to download some entertainment files, however I disabled it in startup, and I blocked it in the McAfee Internet Security Suite 2008, so if I should use it, I have to unblock it.

I also noticed that in Internet Explorer, Tools, Internet Options, Programs, Manage add-ons, that the add-on "Research" without a publisher is an older Microsoft program, but another add-on "DASWebShop Class" published by a "not verified" "Test Company" is not mention in a Google search of it, so I disabled it.

I ate a bowl white Cheez-its with some watered down passion punch.

I will now try to defragment the C: drive with the power setting for Sleep turned off.  I will go to bed shortly.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/05/08 Wednesday 4:35 P.M..  I woke up during the night, and I ate 10 pitted prunes.  I finally woke up at 6 A.M. this morning.  I called www.cl-p.com , and I gave them the information on my energy grant, and faxed them a copy of the energy grant to their Matching Payment Program.  For breakfast I ate a bowl of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted bagel with margarine, a glass of passion punch with vitamins and supplements, and a cup of coffee with milk and splenda.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  I made my bed.  I showered, and I cleaned up.  I chatted with a friend and a relative.  I went out, and I took the www.johnmccain.com stickers out of my Audi windows.  I put them in the glove box.  I went by the Chase Bank on Mason Street.  I then went by the Wachovia Bank on Benedict Place, and I paid my rent to the Greenwich Housing Authority.  I chatted with a big man who still had a John McCain bumper sticker in his car window.  I then went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop.  A lot of their merchandise is half price.  I then drove down by the waterfront on Steamboat Road, and I saw some old neighbors drive by.  I noticed the new apartment buildings across from the Delamar Hotel are pretty much framed in.  I sat out for a while in Bruce Park.  I then drove over to Stamford, Connecticut on I-95 East, and I got off at exit 9, and I drove back west on the Boston Post Road four lights to Oil Star.  I got my oil and filter changed and fluids checked for $54.40 after using a $5 off coupon from the Greenwich grocery store circulars flier.  The put in an original Audi filter and regular Castrol 10W-30 oil.  They put the tire pressure back to the manufacture's recommendation of 32 PSI, which I should keep it at.

The itemized bill was:

Oil Star Service Package $38.79 with five quarts of Castrol 10W-30 oil

Audi Oil Filter $11

1.25 quarts of Castrol 10W-30 oil $4.76

Oil Disposal Fee $1.77

less $5 Discount Coupon

for $51.32 subtotal

Sales Tax $3.08

$54.40 total.

I then went back to Greenwich on I-95 West, and I got off at exit 5, and I returned to the center of town, and I went by the Chase Bank on Mason Street again.  I used the bathroom at the Bank of New York.  I then went downtown, but it was so busy I could not find a parking place.  I then went by the Greenwich Library, and I chatted with a couple of regulars.  I then went by the Greenwich Automotive Services Exxon gasoline station, and I bought $5 of self service premium gasoline at $3.119 a gallon for 1.602 gallons for 26.9 miles driving since this past Monday at odometer reading of 61823 miles for 16.7915 miles per gallon driving a little bit faster on the thruway part of the time.  I then parked in the Rolls Royce and Aston Martin dealer parking lot, and I tried to buy some Castrol 10W oil at the auto parts store next door, but it was not available.  I then returned home.  The mail was just arriving.

Note: <888> 11/05/08 Wednesday 1:40 A.M..   I seem to be having a better life now that I do not go downtown everyday for an exercise walk.  Of course, sooner or later I might need to do some errands or take the occasional walk.  I ate a 1/6th piece of Dutch apple crumb pie with some watered down passion punch.  I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go to bed soon.  Now that all of the hoopla is over about the election, for people up north we have winter coming soon.  As I told a friend of mine from Buffalo, New York today, "One Should Really Focus on Getting Ready for Winter", which some of us try to do based on what we can afford in this area.  I left a message with www.cl-p.com about my grant, and they are suppose to call me back.  My personal viewpoint as a professional economist and not a politician is that things in terms of the economy will only get worse in this country, and more than likely we will not being getting much foreign investment from abroad to stimulate the economy, because the general world trend is that there is mostly overall global recession.  Thus I would advise people to pull in their belts and get ready for hard times compared to the last 20 years of prosperity.  I remember during the recession in the late 1970s during the Jimmy Carter administration, about the only thing I could afford to do was to walk downtown in Port Washington, Long Island and buy a few groceries at the old run down A&P grocery store with very old food in stock on the shelves, and buy a pack of Marlboros at a nearby independent gasoline station for about $1.25, and as I recall gasoline cost about 59 cents a gallon, so if you adjust for inflation, we really are not doing that much better anymore.  About the only light at the end of the tunnel is that we now have more channels on television trying to sell us junk that we can not afford to buy.  I remember my roommate told me his father had a computer in the basement, and whenever I went down to check it out in the basement on Bar Beach Road in Port Washington, Long Island, there was no computer, and I saw was a new natural gas furnace that managed to keep the railroad flat apartment reasonably warm, and during that period they built a natural gas pipe line from Canada to Long Island, so there would be enough energy to stay warm.  The roommate's grandfather had been a geologist out of the University of Toronto University of Toronto  who had explored North America for the oil companies, so they managed to stay reasonably warm in their small railroad flat apartment.  I also recall there was a farm store nearby selling milk.  Since we have most of those conveniences here, I will be continuing to live in my present location for the long term future irregardless of the current local or national or global politics, and I personally hope no major volcanoes go up in the world that make it so cold here that we might not survive with less energy than we had in the last 1970s.  I am a bit tired, so I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go to bed soon.  I have to pay my rent later on today.  Of course at the same time, my family had a well heated townhouse in New Canaan, Connecticut that we never used, since the owners were living in Bermuda for a couple of winters.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/04/08 Tuesday 8:55 P.M..  I was not able to get through to www.cl-p.com , so since their phone lines are opened 24 hours, I will try later.  I put away the laundry.  I hooked up the replacement 7 Port LED USB 2.0 Hub, Clear Blue to the FIC server.  Its power comes on, when I turn on the power strip from the primary Vista computer control panel.  I moved the unpowered four port USB 2.0 device from the FIC server to the Northgate Syntax computer, and its 4 port device is located on the left side of the tower case.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/04/08 Tuesday 7:45 P.M..  I went out and voted after the last note.  At the New Lebanon elementary school where I voted, there were only a few people there when I arrived, but by the time the polls opened there were about 200 people waiting in line.  I filled out the ballot for the republican candidates.  However, when I went to give the ballot to the polling official to scan in the machine, the scanner was broken, so they put it in a slot on the lower left of the scanner platform to be scanned later.  I chatted with a retired www.navy.mil while waiting in line.  I then returned home, and I ate a piece of Dutch Apple crumb pie.  I went to bed, and I woke up and I ate 10 dried plums.  I finally woke up at 3:30 P.M..  For breakfast I ate a bowl of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted bagel with margarine, a glass of passion punch with vitamins and supplements, and a cup of coffee with milk and splenda.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  I chatted with two relatives and two friends.  I put clean linens on my bed.  I am doing two loads of laundry, and I have 25 minutes to go on the dry cycle.  I received notification from the CTE Energy Assistance program that my energy grant for the upcoming year 2009 is $925.  I am now trying to get through to www.cl-p.com to change my budget amount reflecting the new grant and my current account surplus.  I picked up the mail, and I received my rent statement from the Greenwich Housing Authority, so I have to pay it tomorrow.  The replacement order for 7 Port LED USB 2.0 Hub, Clear Blue for $6.99 with coupon code "HUBADAP7P" and free shipping for 6.99 total arrived.  I will put it on the FIC server in a little while.  I noticed on television recently that www.ford.com is advertising a new Lincoln Town car that does not have ignition keys but a simple start button, and one accessed the vehicle by pressing the images of numbers in a combination pattern on the driver's side window.  What has me confused is how one would gain access to the vehicle if the window had frost on it in the winter which is frequently the case up north.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/04/08 Tuesday 5:10 A.M..  Free coffee today Slickdeals.net .  I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will get ready to go out and vote at 6 A.M. at the New Lebanon elementary school in Byram, Connecticut where I live near the larger metropolis of Greenwich, Connecticut.  In the past on average only 46% of the registered voters in the Unites States of America have voted on election day in Presidential elections, which means 54% or what Richard Nixon called the "Silent Majority" where busy on other matters.  I had a theory back in 1976, when I lived in Greenville, South Carolina next to the first cablevision television station coming out of Atlanta, Georgia, that each state or area of the country could have a different President on Cablevision, so if you said the President was So and So, people would know where you were from.  Once I return from voting, I will go directly to bed.   I guess if the election is close, I might be watching the results later on tonight or early tomorrow morning.  Greenwich, Connecticut is an Exxon Rockefeller town, so most people here usually vote Republican despite what the foreign media people print.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/04/08 Tuesday 3:55 A.M..  I ate a 1/6th piece of Dutch Apple Crumb pie with a glass of watered down passion punch.  Having lived around the www.un.org , since 1961 when I moved here from Decatur, Alabama, I have seen a lot of international visitors over the years, however since I only know English, and I was a poor student of French for four years and Latin for 5 years, I do not try to speak other languages, and I have learned over time, when I speak with non English speaking visitors whom only know a little bit of English, the communications is frequently mixed up.  Thus I have frequently relied on visitors from England with a greater ability in foreign languages to help out on the foreign language communications.  However, my web log translates into other languages, so if anyone is curious as to what I do in my rather simple ordinary life, it can be easily translated.  Although I only know United States English, the equipment I use in my computer operations has easy access to the entire world on the internet, but alas it seems nobody has the time to communicate anymore, so I just chat with relatives about the price of tea in China.  I still have a theory we are not in Greenwich, Connecticut U.S.A., but in a town that looks exactly the same which is a Potemkin village Potemkin village - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia known as Greenwich, China.  For all I know Long Island sound is the Yanksee River.  I once saw Dorthy Bush lecturing on China at the Greenwich Country Club, and I once read in the Greenwich Time that Prescott Bush was building a country club like the Greenwich Country Club in China, so maybe they built an entire town or area like Greenwich, Connecticut in China.  After building the Great Wall of China - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia that would have been simple for the Chinese, but we still fly the U.S.A. flag here, so I assume we are in the U.S.A..  Who knows, it is open to conjecture.  CIO

Your Invitation to New York's Premier Whisky Event One of my more prosperous relatives always drank Glenlivet when times were good, and more people from the United Kingdom could afford to live here.  Alas the people in the United Kingdom do not seem to have that much money anymore, so they now take cheap vacations to far off destinations instead of visiting us regularly like they use to.  They do not invite us over there, since they drive on the wrong side of the road, and they are afraid we might kill ourselves traveling there.   The rich ones that use to come here could afford livery vehicles, and the rest seemed to spend a lot of time walking downtown all of the time like they might be in London, England.  A few of the more upwardly mobil types could afford a lot the smaller sports cars like MGs, Morgans, Triumphs, and Autin Healys, but in the anglophile glory days of Greenwich, it was more like a commune in which pretty much everyone knew everyone, and from what I can tell, since I was of Scottish English heritage and Dutch heritage, I pretty much had an open door to anywhere I went.  Believe it or not, everyone use to call me "Sir" in the old days, but that was when I was not afraid to dress up better.  Now for security reasons we tend to dress down most of the time, and we tend to move in random patterns, and we do not gather together in large groups anymore, although a great many of the experienced long time residents are still out in the wood work.

Note: <888> 11/04/08 Tuesday 12:30 A.M..  Today is elect you favorite dog catcher day.  I cut the Angus cab cut of top round of beef into four equal sizes which are about 1.5 inches thick and a little over a half pound apiece.  I refrigerated three of them in a Rubbermaid container.  I put a couple tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil and a few pads of margarine in a frying pan with two cloves of peeled minced garlic, and I turned it on medium high electric burner heat.  I browned each side quickly seasoning each side with garlic powder, ground black pepper, and Italian seasoning, and I continued to cook it about five minutes a side turning it every 30 seconds and mixing it with the fat and garlic.  Since the cut of meat had no fat, there was no grease.  For the last two minutes, I put about four tablespoons Kikkoman soy sauce in the pan, and I push the meat around in the fat and soy sauce on both sides, until if was mostly evaporated.  I then put it on a dinner plate with the burnt garlic and juices on top of it.  It was quite a delicious tender cut of meat, and tasted a bit like sirloin or roast beef about medium rare.  I ate it with my usual vegetable mixture, which is a medium potato cut into about 1/3rd inch cubic chunks, and about 10 baby carrots, and about four small sprigs of broccoli crowns, that I put in about 1.25 inches of water in a plastic Wal-Mart microwave pot with lid, and during the beef cooking process, I cooked it in the G.E. microwave oven on four vegetable cycles.  I then drained the water off with the lid, and I put the vegetables in a bowl with four pads of margarine, and then I sprinkle garlic powder, ground black pepper, and Italians seasoning on it.  I then put about four tablespoons of Stop and Shop grated parmesan and Romano cheese on it and then a couple of tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil on it, and when I eat it, I mix it all together for an "Au Gratin" effect.  I ate the dinner with watered down passion punch.  It was a very good dinner, and although the cut of meat looked a bit like London Broil, I know a cut of cab round roast is a bit like roast beef, so since it normally costs $6.99 a pound, and I bought it for $3.99 a pound it was a very good meal with a good cut of beef.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/03/08 Monday 10:55 P.M..  I was up 2 P.M..  During the night, I ate 15 dried prunes and a Kashi bar.  When I woke up, I installed the XP updates on the Toshiba laptop.  For breakfast I ate a bowl of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted bagel with margarine, a glass of passion punch with vitamins and supplements, and a cup of coffee with milk and splenda.  I made my bed, and I washed the breakfast dishes.  I chatted with a friend.  I shut down the Toshiba laptop.  I showered, and I cleaned up.  I went out with my folding cart, and I put it in the rear of the Audi.  I went by the Chase Bank, and I used the ATM machine.  I met the local branch manager, whom I think is Greek.  I was told their new branch will be where Harvey Electronics was located, and they have plenty of parking in the rear.  I can not figure out why with all of the Chase branches downtown, why they just don't just close a few branches, but I guess they can not afford to have one large consolidated bank office with parking.  The telescope is still at the Pickwick Plaza facing their parking lot.  I chatted with a local doctor about tropical medical research.  I then went downtown, and I stopped by Zen stationary.  I used the bathroom at Starbucks.  I then went by the Greenwich Library, and I chatted with a few regulars.  I then went by the Greenwich Automotive Services Exxon gasoline station, and I bought $8 of self service premium at $3.219 a gallon for 2.485 gallons for 31.3 miles driving since October 21, 2008 at odometer reading of 61796 miles at 12.5955 miles per gallon .  I cleaned the outside windows, and I checked the tires for 34 PSI.  I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought a 8 pack of Stop and Shop hot dog rolls for $1.67, a 6 pack of Stop and Shop bagels for $2, two 1 pound boxes of Land O Lakes margarine for $1.50 each, two 59 ounce containers of Simply Orange orange juice with calcium for $3 each, Wondabar German baloney for $2.99 a pound for $3.33, two 16 ounce containers of Billy Bee pure Canadian clover honey for $3.99 each, two 8.5 ounce Nabisco low fat triscuts for $2.50 each box, two 13.5 ounce Sunshine white Cheez-its for $2.50 a box, three 64 ounce Ocean Spray cranberry juice for $2.50 each, three 64 ounce Stop and Shop grape juice for $2 each, two 48 ounce Old Fashioned Quaker Oats for $4.59 each, one 15 ounce Kikkoman soy sauce for $2.29, a Angus top round London broil cab cut for $3.99 a pound for $9.94, a two pound bag of baby carrots for $2.50, a five pound bag of yellow potatoes for $3.99, broccoli crowns at $1.99 a pound for $2.67, and Dole organic bananas at .99 pound  for $2.27 for $90.17 total.  I then returned home, and I brought up my groceries with my folding shopping cart, and I picked up my mail, and I put away my groceries.  I chatted with two relatives.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/03/08 Monday 6:45 A.M..  I cancelled System Mechanic on the Toshiba laptop, but it is taking a while.  I am now waiting for the Toshiba laptop to shut down.  Once it shuts down, I will shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go to bed soon.  There does not seem to be much worth bottom fishing for on the internet with these economically recessed times.

Sign of the times Mystery of the missing political signage solved? - Greenwich Time

I will go ahead and shut down the primary Vista computer, and wait for the Toshiba laptop to do its thing, and then I will head off to bed.  I have to be on a bit of a daytime schedule tomorrow, so I can get out and vote.  Maybe I will vote first thing in the morning after being up all night.  If I am up early enough today, I have to do some first of the month grocery shopping later on probably in the early evening.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/03/08 Monday 6:20 A.M..  I ate two Nathan's hotdogs with buns with ketchup and Dijon mustard and watered down passion punch.  System Mechanic is taking forever to run on the older Toshiba laptop.  Once it has run, I will shut it down, and I will install the XP updates later.  Since I never travel or feel inclined to work with computers outside my home office apartment environment, I have no need of a newer laptop computer, and I am more comfortable using the large screens on my primary Vista computer.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/03/08 Monday 5:35 A.M..  On the Toshiba Laptop, the 2X card was another LAN card, so I took it out.  The Toshiba laptop has a small built in telephone modem connector on its left side that I connected the telephone line to, so it is now connected to the telephone line, the wireless, and the LAN.  I checked out an earlier version of Juno, and it worked just fine, but it had bad scripts.  I left it one though, because, when one closes it, it still stays connected to the Juno dialer like a modem dialer which is handy.  www.juno.com has local telephone dial up service in this area.  Since with Verizon, I have free dialing service to adjacent communities for a couple dollars more a month, I can call the Juno numbers in Stamford, Port Chester, Armonk Village, besides the Greenwich numbers.  I connect at 44,000 Kbs.  Still it is a handy backup setup in case of a power failure.  I did not put on Open Office 3.0 because I only have 600 megs of space left on the C: drive.  When I got the Toshiba laptop a few years ago for $5 at the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop it was broken.  I reseated its memory, and the hard drive had two bad sectors, so I repartitioned the hard drive to eliminate the space between the two bad sectors.  I have XP home on it with a few minors programs.  I took off the virus program earlier, since it used too much memory.  It only has a 128 and a 64 meg. memory chips.  I do have an older copy of Microsoft Word and Microsoft FrontPage Express on it, so I could blog on it in a power failure and read the news.   I am now running System Mechanic, and I will then install the XP updates on it.  I also put the latest version of Juno on it, which works just fine, but when you close it out, it disconnects the telephone modem.  I put the round blue and white check cushion from the bedroom chair on the wicker chair at the small computer desk with the Toshiba laptop, so it is more comfortable.  I also hooked up the USB 1.0 4 port device to it.  Since it only has one USB 1.0 port, there is no point using the USB 2.0 four port device that I also have on the desk.  I can not install System Mechanic on the new setup of the primary Vista computer, since the number of times I can install it with my current license expired.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/03/08 Monday 3:35 A.M..  Thus if the power went off, I would not be able to use the desktop computers.  However, in the past I have setup the nine year old Toshiba laptop to work with Verizon on local free internet numbers.  However, it probably has a worn out battery.  However, I would be able to run its power off the Tripp-Lite UPS power device that it will be near, probably a lot longer than the original Toshiba battery.  I had to look through my spare parts to fine the telephone card for it, and it was on the wicker rack at the bedroom entrance along with the Netgear wireless USB device.  The Netgear wireless USB device has a broken three inch antenna, but its wire is still connected to it, so I hold it in position with tape.  I would also be able to run a lamp with a 15 watt bulb off the Tripp-Lite UPS device, if the power were off for a while. I also have a small flashlight type bulb in the Slaymaker jump start system that would last quite a long time, and the two small GE emergency lights that would last for about an hour.  Candles are available, but they would be a fire hazard, and they would use up the oxygen in a closed apartment.  I also have two small hurricane lamps and hurricane lamp oil that I keep safely stored away in a heavy glass container.  Thus I would be better prepared with the Tripp-Lite UPS device.  I had the old UPS devices setup that way, before I got rid of them.  To make matters practical to more easily access the small computer table with the nine year old Toshiba laptop, I moved Howard Prince's www.harvard.edu chair that I bought for $45 at the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop, and I moved it along side the telephone tea table with all of the telephones, and the Harvard Chair is facing the oak dining table. I moved the DeLonghi oil filled radiator from that location to in front of the Panasonic television small table in front of the French reproduction chair, and I moved the paper shredder to in front of it too, so I can easily access the lower bureau drawer, where I keep my underwear.  I put a small folding wicker chair that was stored underneath the Sony television, and I put it at the small computer desk with the Toshiba laptop.  I took out the Netgear wireless card and the LAN card, and I put in the telephone card that is 2X thick, and I connected it up the unused labeled Samsung port on the port boxes behind it by the Brother machine, and I switched it to Samsung from Brother, so it will be able to go online with Verizon.  I will shortly check it out to see if the local free telephone line internet numbers are still available in a power failure.  I hooked it up with the little retractable telephone line cord, I keep by the Toshiba laptop.  I also found a USB 1.0 four port device that I put in the upper left desk drawer.  After I test the telephone setup on the Toshiba, and make any changes necessary, I will put back in the other two cards, and I will uninstall Open Office 2.1, and I will install Open Office 3.0 on it, so I will be busy for a while.  I can store the Netgear wireless USB device and the telephone card in their boxes on the wicker rack on the wall behind the Toshiba laptop.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/03/08 Monday 2:10 A.M..  If the cable modem did work with the Tripp-Lite UPS device in a power outage, I also could connect up the router and the network switch to it, since they do not use much wattage, but I have a feeling, one would not be able to use the computer for more than 6 to 20 minutes depending on how long the output last, and the LCD monitor on the FIC server uses a lot of wattage.  It is primarily for safe shut down of the computer system, and not to run it.  I could plug the cable modem into the UPS device with an extension cord for it to work, so one would still have free long distance.  However, I also have about $22 on long distance telephone cards that are available with Verizon, plus the two new cordless 2.4 GHz telephones for Maine came with $5 long distance telephone cards which would be available.  The telephone service from Verizon usually works in power failures, but one has to use one of the regular telephones and not the cordless or any other telephones that rely on transformers like the two line corded telephones.  I have a regular Verizon telephone by my bed, and it is the white Princess telephone hung on the speaker and the Radio Shack enhanced sound wall phone in the kitchen to the right side of the Farberware convection oven.  I also have the AT&T wireless telephone, but that costs 25 cents a minute.  However, it is the nature of Greenwich, Connecticut over the 20 years that I have lived here at this location, not too much ever goes wrong, but I spend a great deal of time and money maintaining my communications environment.  As I recall when  worked at www.cbsnews.com for 2.5 months during Watergate, they never took any union dues out of my paycheck of $85 a week after taxes, so I do not think I have ever been a member of the communications workers of America or any other union for that matter.  However, Granddad Scott who was the political brains in the family worked for the Illinois Central Railroad for 60 years, so he would have been a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Workers which also has one of the best pension plans in America, as I recall my racehorse inspector friend is a nephew of the nephew of W. Averill Harriman, and whether Uncles Charlie's mother E.H. Harriman's daughter ever had any working knowledge of the Union Pacific railroad really does not need to be debated.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/03/08 Monday 1:40 A.M..  Also in an emergency black out, I might be able to plug the Optimum Online Cable modem with the Tripp-Lite UPS device, but although the cable modem Optimum Voice long distance might work, it might be dependant on other electronics working in the building or area.   We do have a generator for the building, but it only powers the emergency lights, and the only time it has ever kicked in that I know of, there were other low lights in the apartment working.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/03/08 Monday 1:35 A.M..  I heard on the www.foxnews.com that the Black Panthers paid for Obama to go to www.harvard.edu , and it is generally known that the main source of money for the Black Panthers is drug dealing.  Thus Obama could be the candidate of the drug cartel.  However, I also could write that South America has good relations with the Philippines, and the friendly staff from the Philippines at CVS on Greenwich Avenue sold me a 15 ounce container of CVS baby powder several years ago for about $2.  However, I never used it, and if it were some missing drug shipment of cocaine cocaine prices by crack cocaine addiction .com it would be worth more, however, technically the powdered milk in my apartment or flour or sugar could be cocaine, but my family is not affiliated with that business, however when we lived here and down south, we knew people affiliated with www.coke.com which is a less expensive product but very profitable.  Even Berkshire Hathaway BERKSHIRE HATHAWAY INC. has invested in Coca Cola.  I have a lower drawer of soft drinks in cans in the refrigerator with some diet Coke, and they are about two to four years old.  I also have the bottles of nine year old mixers which look flat, and I also have a six pack of 1899 Coca Cola in bottles that has never been refrigerated that I bought last Christmas along with all of the old bottles of undrunk beer in my apartment too.  Thus I was prepared to entertain for years, but my only regular guest always liked dining out, until he quit showing up three years ago, and nobody else ever showed up over the years, and now that the apartment is so technically complex, I am not sure I want to entertain anyone at the chance of having my computer systems messed up along with the other electronics.  I still have a bit of coffee left to http://mikelouisscott.com/inventory.htm .   I have one friend that has not been here in two years, and he usually has one or two beers, and I have some year old Heineken, but he tends to not visit anymore, since he is heavily involved in other matters not relating to Greenwich.   Of course the really dangerous political group in this country is the Grey Panthers, and that is the large group of retired people whom tend to be conservative, and they tend to obey the law. Note: <888> 11/03/08 Monday 12:55 A.M..  If you read the SMART700SER - SmartPro Tower UPS System - Intelligent, line-interactive battery backup and network power management and its manual http://www.tripplite.com/shared/techdoc/Owners-Manual/931424.pdf , it says, you should not plug a surge protector into it, or the UPS can be damaged, so I will have to plug the primary Vista computer and the FIC server directly into it, and turn them on and off with the computer switches.  However, I would assume you can plug the Tripp-Lite UPS device into a surge protector which I will.  However, the primary Vista computer power supply is 800 watts, and the FIC server is 450 watts, and the Tripp-Lite UPS device is rated to 450 watts, so I am not sure if the computers actually draw that much power or not, and if it will support both computers.  If not I will just use it on the FIC server.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/03/08 Monday 12:35 A.M..  The PowerAlert Software is here PowerAlert Network Management Software Downloads and Software, Firmware & Driver Downloads , but the 750 unit needs a patch, so though it is not mentioned the 700 unit might need the same patch depending on the serial number.  I ate a 1/6th piece of the Dutch Apple crumb pie.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/02/08 Sunday 11:35 P.M..  To connect the Tripp Lite UPS device to the FIC server.  It says it has a Smart RS-232 port which needs to be connected to my FIC server serial port with a DB9 female connection.  However, the new ones come with the software and the cable, so hopefully the refurbished one will also come with them.   There looks to be one here APC UPS Smart Signaling Serial Cable RS232 DB9 940-0095 - eBay (item 260307866222 end time Nov-05-08 12:43:15 PST) and another here 940-0095B APC Cable For UPS [xxx] - $9.99 : Al-Tech Electronics , however, they are for APC and not Tripp Lite, so I do not know if they would work or not, but hopefully the Tripp Lite will come with the cable too like the news ones.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/02/08 Sunday 10:25 P.M..  I am baking a Mrs. Smith's frozen Dutch Apple crumb pie for and hour, and after it cools for a half hour, I will eat a 1/6th slice.  I also cut out the dollar off coupon from the inside the box.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/02/08 Sunday 9:55 P.M..  I ate the last of seven dried prunes of the container of open Sunsweet dried prunes.  I chatted with a relative who was visiting a friend today, and the friend's three year old flat screen LCD Toshiba television exploded while a former top executive from IBM was watching it, however the picture kept working while there was glass all over the place.  My relative thought the local www.bestbuy.com would probably have to investigate the matter.  The relative was in Florida which is the lightning capital of the nation, so generally with electronics in Florida it is best to buy a surge protector electrical strip at www.samsclub.com or some other vendor.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/02/08 Sunday 8:55 P.M..  Although I am suppose to not buy too many computer items anymore, I have to maintain the equipment that I have already invested in, and I feel having the new UPS device will protect my equipment better.  Although I have not made any money or profit in my 16 years of computer efforts, it is what I do to keep active most of the time.  From a technical point of view at age 58, I am would not be very good at retraining into any other activity.  I watched part of the Jim Cary movie "Fun with Dick and Jane" about a fictional economic recession that came to pass recently.  However, from my point of view, I have been in a economic recession for the past 35 years, so I am pretty much use to the status quo.  I can guarantee you nobody is beating a path to my door way.  I have been in economic decline for so long, I do not even have bill collectors bothering me anymore.

On a mute point on the computer business, www.ibm.com 's corporate headquarters in Armonk, New York is located on a relative's old estate, and www.dell.com 's corporate headquarters down in Texas are located on another relative's former ranch, so I guess some of my relatives had property to sell, not that it did me any good personally.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/02/08 Sunday 7:40 P.M..  My previous UPS devices were two of these 650VA Two Outlet 110VAC UPS UPS-650-BE which began to overheat and create a fire hazard after two years, and I threw them  away, and they came from www.geeks.com .  I also know that the Geeks web site has had their credits cards hacked on the internet in the past, and it is located in Oceanside, California where Tom Cruise and the Scientologists have a presence.  Also their free shipping would be UPS land shipping from California.  I figured www.pacificgeek.com since they ship out of Nevada via www.fedex.com might be faster, and since Nevada is where Howard Hughes has some high tech research around Area 51, it might be more useful to do some business with them instead of the Beach Boys in Oceanside, California.  I fried a 6.5 ounce Plumrose ham steak in margarine and olive oil and garlic powder, pepper, and Italian seasoning, and I put some Dijon mustard on it, and I ate it with a 6.5 ounce package of microwave Green Giant spinach with margarine and watered down passion punch.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/02/08 Sunday 6:45 P.M.. If the batteries need to be replaced on the Tripp Lite unit, they can be replaced with two of these PowerStar Replacement for RBC52 Kit which would cost $33.44 with shipping for the LMR batteries.  I could have bought it here earlier in the week with free shipping on $50, but I did not buy it at the time Tripp Lite SMART700SER 700VA/450W 6-Outlet UPS Tower System Tripp-Lite SMART700SER , and the free shipping deal is not available now anyway.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/02/08 Sunday 6:00 P.M..  I printed out the Microsoft Money 2006 report for October 2008, and I have it ready to mail to an interested relative.  I will hook up the Tripp Lite UPS SMART700SER - SmartPro Tower UPS System - Intelligent, line-interactive battery backup and network power management to both the primary Vista computer, and the FIC server, so they both have battery backup.  It weighs 22 pounds, so $5 shipping is a good deal.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/02/08 Sunday 5:25 P.M.. I ordered PacificGeek.com - Tripp Lite SmartPro Tower GEEK Members SAVE $150 700SER  for $49.99 and $4.99 shipping for $54.98 total.  It is refurbished, but it sells for more new Tripp Lite SmartPro Tower 700SER UPS - SMART700SER - RitzCamera.com.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/02/08 Sunday 4:55 P.M..  I woke up at noon.  For breakfast I ate a bowl of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted bagel with margarine, a glass of passion punch with vitamins and supplements, and a cup of coffee with milk and splenda.  I made my bed, and I washed the breakfast dishes.  I chatted with two friends.

PacificGeek.com - Dell GX60 2.4GHz Desktop System Under $100 GX60 .  Supposable $5 shipping today, but it does not come up in their cart.  If comes with XP Professional preinstalled with XP COA, but if you had to reinstall XP, you might need this PacificGeek.com XP Dell restore , if it does not come with the Disks, which it looks like it does not.  This PacificGeek.com - Dell Restore DVD Windows Vista Business 0J229H R053G supposedly will put Vista Business on a Dell XP Professional computer, but you might need more memory.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/02/08 Sunday 1:55 A.M..  I woke up at 7 P.M..  For breakfast I ate a bowl of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted bagel with margarine, a glass of passion punch with vitamins and supplements, and a cup of coffee with milk and splenda.  I made my bed, and I washed the breakfast dishes.  I went outside, and I threw out the garbage, and I chatted with a neighbor.  I picked up my mail.  I chatted with two neighbors.  I defragmented the C: drive on the Northgate Syntax computer.  I ate 5 dried prunes.  I showered, and I cleaned up.  I read some of the recent computer periodical magazines, and I threw them away.  I received a letter from the Chase Bank on 10 Mason street where I bank, and they are moving their offices from that location to 19 West Putnam Avenue.  They will close their 10 Mason Street office on Friday January 23, 2008 at 3 P.M., and they will open their new office on Monday January 26, 2009.  I think that new location might be where the old bowling alley was.  I hope they have easy parking.  I baked a 16 ounce box of America's Choice fish sticks, and I also mixed together 1/2 of a cup of ketchup with two tablespoons of horse radish for seasoning that I ate the fish sticks with.  I also ate my usual vegetable mixture without the broccoli.  I also ate the meal with watered down passion punch.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/01/08 Saturday 11:40 A.M..  I ate 10 dried prunes and a Kashi bar.  I finished configuring the Northgate Syntax computer Vista Home partition, and I backed it up to the Bytecc external hard drive with the Vista Server installation on the second hard drive.  There was no room to install Ubuntu 8.10 on a resized partition on the second hard drive with Vista Server.  I ate a toasted bagel with margarine.  I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go to bed shortly.  I will change the calendar pages also.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/01/08 Saturday 4:25 A.M..  I did a 2% low level format of both hard drive on the Northgate Syntax computer, and I am now restoring the Vista Home Complete PC backup I made with Vista Server SP1 which expired.  Once it is restored, I will have to configure the changes the on the Vista Home partition.  I will then install Vista Server SP1 and make another Vista Complete PC backup of the Vista Home partition.  I will then delete the Vista Server SP1 partition, and I will install Ubuntu 8.10 on the second partition.  This does all does not take much work, just waiting for the machine to complete the restores and installations and backups.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/01/08 Saturday 2:25 A.M..  Beside Vista home, I have three different installs on Ubuntu on the Northgate Sytnax computer, and I could clean them up, when I have the time by restoring the Vista backup, and reinstalling Ubuntu on a clean second hard drive.  I do not know how to remove the Ubuntu boot manager from the first hard drive.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/01/08 Saturday 1:00 A.M..  I ate 10 dried prunes.  A friend said that I should throw out the six frozen crab cakes that I bought last January 2007, since they probably are not any good.  I have to remember that.  CIO

Note: <888> 11/01/08 Saturday 12:50 A.M..  I chatted with a friend about the price of soy beans in Brazil.  I downloaded Ubuntu 8.10, and I burned it to CD with the Nero program.  I am installing it on the Northgate Syntax computer.  I ate my usual vegetable mixture along with a Plumrose 6 ounce ham steak that I fried in margarine and olive oil, and I flavored it with garlic powder, ground black pepper, and Italian spices.  Once it was cooked, I put some Dijon mustard on it.  I ate it all with a glass of watered down passion punch.  I have a switch on the Brother MFC-8840D machine on the right side on the base on its stand, and it switches the incoming line from "A" Optimum Online to "B" Verizon.  I usually keep it on "B", so the two telephones on the three splitter that comes off of it are on Verizon.  If I need to send a toll free fax, I have to switch to "A" for Optimum online.  CIO
