<888> 10/31/12 Wednesday 8:00 P.M..  Town of Greenwich Wednesday Evening Message 10-31-12:

Good evening.  This is Captain Mark Kordick of the Town of Greenwich Police Department with the October 31st evening update on Hurricane Sandy from the Town’s Emergency Operations Center.

President Obama announced today that he has declared Connecticut a federal disaster area.  Importantly, this means Greenwich residents who suffered damage or were displaced by Hurricane Sandy are eligible for federal assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.  To get assistance residents must register directly with FEMA by telephone or online.  To register, call 1-800-621-FEMA, that’s 1-800-621-3362 or visit disasterassistance.gov.

The Town remains under a declared state of emergency.  The Town’s Emergency Operations Center remains open on a full-time basis.  Road clearing efforts remain underway in earnest.  The total number of full closures dropped below 300 today for the first time since the storm.  Connecticut Light and Power crews continue to work on power restoration.  63% of Greenwich residents remain without power.

The Town’s two emergency shelters, one at the Western Greenwich Civic Center and the other at the Eastern Middle School, remain open for all residents requiring shelter.  Temperatures have dropped and are predicted to lower overnight.  Residents without heat are welcome to drop-in either of the two emergency shelters at any time, day or night, even if it is just to warm up, get a meal or charge cellphones.  Hot showers can even be had at the Eastern Middle School shelter.  Bring a towel and toiletries if you can.  The Red Cross professionals and volunteers staffing the shelters are delighted when citizens come by.  Please, don’t be afraid to stop and check out what services are available at the shelter locations.

When driving, be aware that there are still several locations in Town where traffic signals are not functioning due to lack of power.  Under Connecticut state law, any intersection with a disabled traffic signal is to be navigated like an all-way stop intersection.  Motorists are required to stop completely and yield to traffic on the right.

The health department is recommending all residents keep food safety in mind over the coming days.  If your power has been out for an extended period, food in refrigerators and freezers is likely to have spoiled.  If power comes back, do not refreeze thawed food.  Complete food safety tips are available at the Town of Greenwich website.

Announcements and reminders:

As we return to normalcy, unless special circumstances dictate, the frequency of announcements made via this system will be reduced from two per day to one per day effective tomorrow.  The next scheduled announcement will come tomorrow evening.  Until then, please stay safe.

Town of Greenwich, Wednesday Morning Update 10-31-12:

Good morning and Happy Halloween.   This is  the daytime information update concerning Hurricane Sandy for Wednesday, October 31st.

The Town’s Emergency Operations Center remains open and we continue to marshal more and more assets for recovery and clean-up operations.  The Town remains in a declared State of Emergency.  The town’s two emergency shelters, one at the Western Greenwich Civic Center and one at the Eastern Middle School, remain open to any resident requiring assistance.  Even if residents do not require overnight shelter accommodations, the shelters, which are being staffed by the American Red Cross, are happy to have drop-in visitors looking to charge cell phones, get a snack, a cup of coffee or a hot meal.  Warm showers can even be had at the Eastern Middle School shelter.  Please bring your own towel and toiletries if you can.

Currently, 67% of Greenwich CL&P customers are without electric power.  There is no definitive timetable for complete restoration.  Keep in mind that some residents who currently have power may see it temporarily disconnected while other repairs are completed.  Connecticut Light and Power has leveraged repairs crews from as far away as Iowa who are currently at work in Town. The Town is providing all of the assistance we can – in the form of tree crews, debris removal crews, National Guard troops and police officers – to assist Connecticut Light and Power line crews with their restoration efforts.

Many streets remain completely or partially blocked.  Currently, there remain several hundred areas where streets and roads remain totally or partially blocked.  The Emergency Operations Center is maintaining a live, interactive, public map of the most significant closures which can be accessed by a link on the Town’s website at www.greenwichct.org.

Other information important to residents:

As many of you begin to clean-up and inspect your own property, please exercise extreme caution.  Many people are injured during clean-up and recovery operations.  Never approach downed wires.  Even downed wires that you think may not be live or have touched before, can become re-energized as power is restored to area neighborhoods.  As you inspect and clean-up your property, remember to take lots of pictures and save all of your receipts.

If you are returning to your damaged or flooded home, Town building inspections must be completed before utility services can be restored.  Please be on the lookout for and heed posted building inspection notices on your property.  Additional information and tips about how to safely return to your home can be found on the Town’s website at www.greenwichct.org.

This message will be updated again this evening via this same system.  Until then, please stay safe and remain patient as well all work through this difficult time together.

<888> 10/30/12 Tuesday 8:55 P.M..  Town of Greenwich Message 8 P.M. Tuesday 10-30-12:

Good evening.   This is the evening information update concerning Hurricane Sandy for Tuesday, October 30th.

The Town’s Emergency Operations Center remains fully open and has transitioned from a rescue mode into a recovery mode.  The town’s two emergency shelters, one at the Western Greenwich Civic Center and one at the Eastern Middle School remain open to any resident requiring assistance.  Much of today was spent by emergency and municipal personnel assessing the state of the Town, remedying emergency situations and requesting appropriate outside assistance.

Currently, 74% of Greenwich CL&P customers are without electric power.  This is a 10% improvement from this morning, however 21,597 customers are still without electric service in Town.  There is no definitive timetable for complete restoration.  Some residents who currently have power may see it temporarily disconnected for other repairs.  All residents should be prepared for a multiple day outage.  The Town is providing all of the assistance we can – in the form of tree crews, debris removal crews and police officers – to assist Connecticut Light and Power line crews with their restoration efforts.

Many streets remain completely or partially blocked.  We are making it a priority to clear emergency routes first and areas where residents are completely trapped with no means of entry or egress.  Several elements of the Connecticut National Guard have been mobilized by Governor Malloy at the request of the First Selectman and are in Town assisting with road clearing efforts. Currently, there are 483 areas where streets and roads remain totally or partially blocked.  The Emergency Operations Center is maintaining a live, interactive, public map of the most significant closures which can be accessed by a link on the Town’s website at www.greenwichct.org.

Other information important to residents:

Many trees which have to fallen remain badly damaged.  Many wires remain down.  Please remember that it is never safe to approach downed wires.  Because many hazardous conditions still exist, the Town is urging all residents to avoid unnecessary travel for at least one more day.  Because that one additional day is Halloween, for everyone’s safety, the considered opinion of the Town’s public safety professionals is that Halloween trick-or-treating should be cancelled tomorrow evening.  The Town, in conjunction with the Public Schools will schedule an alternate day in the very near future for school Halloween celebrations and traditional trick-or-treating.  While I hate to seem the October equivalent of the Grinch, this decision was made with the children’s safety in mind.

This message will be updated tomorrow via this same system.  Until then, please stay safe and remain patient as well all work through this difficult time together.

<888> 10/30/12 Tuesday 7:20 P.M.  Town of Greenwich Hurricane Sandy Update Tuesday 10-30-12 Noon:

Good morning.   This is the daytime information update concerning Hurricane Sandy for Tuesday, October 30th.

Currently, just over 80% of Greenwich customers are without electric power.  There is no definitive timetable for restoration.  Many streets are completely or partially blocked with downed trees and wires.  Municipal Tree and Public Works crews are working to clear roadways as quickly as possible.  For obvious reasons they are concentrating initial efforts in the area of public safety facilities and the Greenwich Hospital.

The storm has significantly damaged the Verizon wireline telephone service infrastructure on a regional level.  Many telephone lines remain out of service including many to municipal buildings and facilities.  Redundant systems have helped 911 service to the Town’s Public Safety Dispatch center to be fully operational throughout the event and 911 service has not been effected.  In an emergency, dial 911 for help.

While the weather may appear to be clearing, we continue to urge all residents to remain indoors.  There are many power lines still down and many trees and branches that have been compromised by wind but have not yet fallen.  Until main thoroughfares are cleared, travel by vehicle remains both difficult and dangerous.  If you are outdoors, never approach downed wires.  Avoid puddles or standing water – especially those near downed wires.

Amtrak trains, Metro North railroad and Connecticut Transit Bus Service all remain suspended until further notice.  Connecticut Limited Access highways remain closed to all non-emergency traffic by order of Governor Malloy.  The Town of Greenwich Emergency Operations Center remains open and will continue to be staffed on an indefinite basis.  We intend to transition from rescue operations to recovery operations within the next several hours.

While some areas of Greenwich did suffer devastating property damage overnight, no fatalities or life-threatening bodily injuries are known to have occurred inside the Town’s limits.  Greenwich’s First Responders would like to extend our thanks to the many members of our community who heeded evacuation orders and have been cooperating with public safety officials throughout this ordeal.  Your continued assistance and understanding is appreciated.  In the coming days, as all of our collective patience runs thin, please remember that things will improve and everyone is working to restore normalcy as quickly as is possible.

An evening update announcement will be made via this system later today.  Until then please stay safe and remain indoors.

<888> 10/30/12 Tuesday 7:20 P.M.  Town of Greenwich Hurricane Sandy Warning, Monday 10-29-12 at 9 P.M..

The Governor’s office has advised our Emergency Operations Center that the western Connecticut shoreline will experience a wind-blown storm surge predicted to be seventeen and a half feet above average.  Five to seven foot waves in Long Island Sound will add additional height to the water.  Greenwich and Stamford are expected to be the worst hit areas in the state.  The Governor has mobilized the National Guard at our request and they are en route to our area but are unlikely to arrive prior to the midnight high tide.  This is a life threatening emergency.

If you failed to heed evacuation notices and are in any of the mandatory evacuation areas, you will experience flooding conditions in the coming hours.  The voluntary evacuation zone will experience flooding as well.

If you are in any of these evacuation areas or other low-lying places, do not panic however it is critical that you evacuate immediately.  Again, flooding conditions will be life threatening.  If you cannot evacuate, relocate to the highest level of the building you are in immediately.  Bring your pets and your cell phone.  Leave or move to higher ground now.  Do not assume that you will be able to make it higher ground once the event is upon us.

The storm is crossing the coastline into New Jersey.  Our area has been inundated with extraordinarily high winds which are predicted to continue to increasing and decreasing degrees overnight.  There are many trees and live wires down.  There are several fires burning throughout town and we have experienced at least one wind-related partial building collapse.  Most major roadways are partially or completely closed.  Unless you are evacuating from rising water, it is unsafe to be outdoors.  Every Greenwich resident who is not in a low-lying area should seek shelter and remain indoors until the storm has fully passed.  Currently, over 50 percent of the Town is without power and there is no immediate timetable for restoration.

Additional notices will be forthcoming throughout the night.  Once again, if you are in a coastal area, evacuation zone or other low-lying area prone to coastal flooding, leave immediately.  If you cannot leave immediately, move to the highest level of the building you are in and remain there.  Good luck and stay safe.

I slept until noon.  I went downstairs again.  I used extension cords, and I set up power from the hallway plugs that were on generator power to power a light in my apartment and keep the cell phone charged and run the portable radio.  I chatted with two relatives.  My Optimum Online telephone was not working, but Verizon was working.  I was able to get online with my laptop dialing up a local number with Juno dialup, but it was really too slow to use.  I checked outside around 3 P.M., and I chatted with neighbors.  The hallway plugs became overwhelmed because people were hooking up refrigerators, televisions, and microwaves which the generator could not handle, so the circuit breaker switch off the power to the hallway plugs.  The building custodian checked the apartments to get people to turn off the heavy load items.  About the time he was going to turn back on the hallway plugs circuit breaker, the power came on at 4:45 P.M..  I chatted with two relatives.  I chatted with my friend at East Fairfield Beach, and he survived the hurricane without flooding, but he was without power.  I put the apartment back to the way it was before the hurricane.  I ate a bag of 60% reduced fat Chex Mix this morning, and I had a cup of coffee with Splenda sweetener this afternoon and a English muffin and vitamins and supplements.  I chatted with a relative.  I watched some of www.news12.com Connecticut.  They said Round Hill Road in Greenwich from the Merritt Parkway to Lake Avenue was closed.  My Audi is all right.

<888> 10/29/12 Monday 4:15 P.M.  Town of Greenwich Hurricane Sandy Email Update Monday October 29, 2012

This is the daytime update of conditions related to Hurricane Sandy for Monday, October 29, 2012.

Having turned to the west, the center of the storm itself remains about 200 miles from the coast of New Jersey and is continuing on its predicted north-northwesterly track.  Winds have accelerated in our area and wind speeds will continue to increase over the next several hours.  Several large trees and branches  have already come down in town which have resulted in some temporary localized road closures.  The high tide which occurred prior to noon this morning was several feet over normal and has already resulted in localized flooding and temporary road closures in low-lying areas.  No large area power outages have been reported yet in Town, however they are likely to occur.

Effective at 1:00 pm today, Governor Malloy ordered all limited-access roadways – highways with entrance and exit ramps – closed to non-emergency traffic until further notice.  Metro North Commuter railroad service remains suspended.

Residents who are not indoors should seek shelter now.  The only exception is for residents in mandatory evacuation zones who did not evacuate.  If you are still in a mandatory evacuation zone, you should leave immediately.  The Town has two emergency shelters open – one at the Eastern Middle School and the other at the Western Greenwich Civic Center in Glenville.

If you cannot leave immediately and are in a mandatory evacuation zone or other low-lying area that may flood, you should have a plan to shelter-in-place.  Move all people, pets, an emergency supply of food and clean water, medicines and other necessities to the highest floor of your home.  Bring a charged cell phone and charger.

Once again, outdoor conditions are becoming increasing hazardous and are expected to degrade over the next several hours.  Get indoors now and stay there.

The next critical period will include the run up to darkness through the period of high tide tonight at midnight.  The Town of Greenwich Emergency Operations Center is open and fully staffed.  The Town’s emergency responders, public works staff and area utility crews are standing by and ready to respond to emergencies.  That said, please do not rely solely on us to keep you safe.  The best way to ensure you and your family’s well-being is to remain aware of your surroundings and circumstances and be proactively responsible for your own safety.

We will provide an updated message via this notification system again this evening.  Please exercise extreme caution through the coming afternoon and evening.

Town of Greenwich Emergency Notification from Sunday October 28, 2012

Hurricane Sandy continues to move northward and is currently off the North Carolina coast.  The storm is anticipated to turn to the north-northwest shortly after midnight tonight.  The latest computer models show it coming ashore along the southern New Jersey coast early Tuesday.  As the storm is hundreds of miles wide, strong local effects are anticipated to be felt in Greenwich by tomorrow afternoon well in advance of the actual landfall.  Conditions after the early afternoon hours tomorrow, especially after dark on Monday night, will be particularly treacherous with high winds making travel dangerous.

Beside winds, the most devastating effects of this storm will include a massive storm surge of tidal water.  The latest predictions show storm surges along the western Long Island shoreline, to include all of Greenwich, of at least five to more than eleven feet above normal.  If these predictions hold true, there will be significant flooding in coastal areas and along rivers and waterways connected to Long Island Sound.

Earlier today, Greenwich First Selectman Peter Tesei, acting on the advice of the Governor’s Office, issued an immediate and mandatory evacuation order for large portions of coastal Greenwich.  Homes and businesses in the evacuation zone were notified by targeted, automated telephone calls and the distribution of paper evacuation order flyers.  If you remain unsure if you live in a mandatory evacuation zone, complete information, including maps and street lists can be found on the Town of Greenwich website at www.greenwichct.org.  If you evacuate, bring clothing, medicine and personal hygiene products for a stay of at least three (3) days.

The Town of Greenwich Emergency Operations Center is open and will remain so throughout the emergency.  The Town has opened two emergency evacuation shelters – one at the Eastern Middle School and the other at the Western Greenwich Civic Center.  All Greenwich schools will be closed, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.  Non-essential Town of Greenwich offices and all Greenwich Libraries will be closed on Monday.  Metro North railroad service has already been suspended and will remain so until further notice.

All residents should be prepared for power outages lasting for several days at least.  This storm will be a long duration event and will take more than one full day to move across our area.

For their own safety, residents should avoid non-essential travel after noon on Monday.  If you must be out in the storm, avoid downed wires and never enter or cross moving or rising water.  Make sure you keep a charged cell phone on hand.

We intend to deliver twice-daily announcements (morning and evening) via this notification system which will continue throughout the emergency.  More frequent announcements will be issued as warranted.  The next scheduled notice will be issued late Monday morning.  Thank you for your attention and remember to be especially careful throughout this dangerous storm.

I noticed while I was out at Tod's Point this morning at high tide during a full moon in October, the water was up to about 2.5 feet from the road.  Thus in a day or two, when we get the hurricane with the high tides this time of year, there could be some major flooding along the shoreline in this area.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/27/12 Saturday 3:10 P.M.  I went downtown, and I walked lower Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.  At the Taco Joint across from the Greenwich Train Station there was a wounded pigeon on the ground fluttering its wings.  I did not touch it so as not to disturb it.  I called the Greenwich Police, and they said they would send someone over.  However, after about 10 minutes the pigeon quit moving, and when I touched it with my foot, it appeared dead.  A local merchant was sweeping the sidewalk, so he lifted the dead pigeon up with a broom and put it in the rear of a nearby garbage truck.  I did not touch the pigeon, since pigeons can have lice.  About that time the police showed up, and I told them the pigeon was dead.  After walking lower Greenwich Avenue, I used the bathroom at Starbucks.  I then sat out for a while.  I then drove over to Staples in Old Greenwich arriving about 7:45 A.M..  They opened at 9 A.M., and there were only three other customers, so there was not a large crowd waiting to buy Windows 8 products.  I bought Windows 8 Pro which comes with both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions for $69.99 less the $30 off coupon good only today mentioned earlier in my notes and $2.54 tax for $42.53 total.   I then bought two three packs of clamp binders for $8.29 a three pack less a online 20% off coupon for $1.66 off and .95 tax for $15.87 total.  I then drove over to Old Greenwich.  I went to the The Haircut Place - Old Greenwich Connecticut , and I got my hair cut short for $25.86 and $5 tip for $30.86 total.  I then chatted with a relative on my wireless telephone.  I then toured the Old Greenwich Rummage Room thrift shop.  On the way out of the parking lot by the Old Greenwich Fire Station, I noticed men and young men filling sand bags from a large pile of sand.  I then drove out to Tod's Point. I sat by the Southwest Parking area, and I chatted with a relative on my wireless telephone.  I then used the men's room at the new convenience station.  It is a quite nice rest room facility they built.  I then walked out the to the Southwest Picnic area, and I sat out for a while.  I then drove over to the Southeast Picnic, and I used the rest room, and I chatted with a local jogger.  I sat out for a while.  I then returned back to downtown Greenwich Avenue.  I chatted with a friend on my wireless telephone.  I then used the bathroom at Starbucks.  I sat out for a while enjoying the weather, and I chatted with a local walker.  I then used the bathroom at Starbucks a while.  I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought buy one six pack of Thomas' English muffins for $4.19 get two six packs free, two 19 ounce Stouffer's meat lasagnas for $2.50 each, bananas for .79 a pound for .66 and a 24 ounce package of Simply mashed potatoes for $2.50 for $12.35 total.  I then returned home, and I put away my groceries.  I had a telephone message from Linda McMahon for Senate 2012 campaign.  I saw the Republican Campaign headquarters on East Putnam Avenue in Cos Cob with lots of signs around it, but it is hard to find a parking place in that area.  Plus I am so big anymore, I might scare the volunteers.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/26/12 Friday 11:20 A.M.  Instead of clean up, I took my bedroom air conditioner out, which is sort of a tedious process.  First I had to move all of the items away from the window area.  Then one removes the duct tape from the left side Plexiglas.  I then hoisted the air conditioner out of the window on to the bed.  The air conditioner probably weighs about 70 pounds.  I then used my little folding cart from the rear of the Audi, and I rolled the air conditioner from the bedroom to near the rear side of the Ethan Allen recliner which I had moved forward temporarily.  I then slid it into place against the wall.  I then put everything back into position in both the living room and bedroom.  I put a Lakso fan in the opened bedroom window with screen to get a little bit of fresh air.  The bedroom window is easy enough to open and close at night, since it slides easily.  I will wait a couple of weeks to take the living room air conditioner out which is less tedious, and it only weighs about 40 pounds.  I threw out some garbage and I chatted with the ceiling installer about the hurricane.  I will now shower and clean up.  Also with the bedroom air conditioner out, I do not have to worry about rain getting into the apartment with the hurricane.  The living room air conditioner is in tighter in the living room window, so there should be no leakage problem.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/25/12 Thursday 6:55 A.M.  I reheated and ate the same Dinty Moore beef stew and rice mixture as yesterday along with a 12 ounce glass of Sprite.  If we should get Hurricane Sandy early next week, there might be power outages.  I am stocked up on batteries and emergency light needs.  The best place to get large quantities of batteries, if one needs them is the Port Chester, New York www.costco.com is you are a Costco member.  I am charging up my three jump start systems to make sure they are fully charged with their emergency lights.  I will now go downtown for a walk, and I will forage around.  I will wait until I return home to hang the dinner plate.  On the primary work computer, I disabled the McAfee addons for Internet Explorer, so Internet Explorer 8 works a little bit faster.  Of course Google Chrome on it works faster, but it might not have as good of security.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/24/12 Wednesday 3:55 P.M.  I seasoned 12 ounces of Dinty Moore beef stew with garlic powder, celery salt, ground black pepper, and soy sauce, and I heated it on two vegetable cycles in the G.E. microwave oven.  I put it on a half of portion of Michael Louis Scott's Microwave Oven Rice Recipe , and I ate it with a 12 ounce glass of A&W root beer.  I will now shut down the primary work computer, and I will go to bed soon.  I have been up since midnight, so I am a bit tired.  I noticed when I was looking at Google satellite maps of Greenwich on the faster IBM ThinkCentre computers today which it works on just fine, something that I never noticed in Greenwich before.  I always thought the Mianus pond with the Mianus reservoir, and I never knew the larger Mianus reservoir was further up in back country east of Stanwich Road.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/24/12 Wednesday 2:50 P.M.  I went out, and I chatted with neighbors a couple of times.  The building custodian put a new flush mechanism in the toilet tank, so the toilet is back up and running again.  I showed the building custodian Windows 8.  I was told by the ceiling people that they would not be doing my ceilings next Tuesday and Wednesday.  The building custodian said he would talk with them about when they will do the ceiling tiles and insulation.  From my viewpoint, they do not really need to do them, since it never really gets too cold in my apartment, and I should know after living here 23 years.  Usually with the minimal amount of heat going, it is never colder than 68 degrees Fahrenheit in my apartment.  I put the various items back in place in the bathroom.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/24/12 Wednesday 11:50 A.M.  On the fourth IBM ThinkCentre with the Windows 8 demo, for some reason the boot manager disappeared, so I had to restore it with the Windows 7 DVD.  It now shows both bootable partitions.  I worked with Windows 8.  Although the Windows 8 Email program does not work with POP3 from what I can tell, one can download the Windows Live Email program from Microsoft Live Essentials, and it does work with POP3 and Windows 8.  In Google Maps, the satellite photo of my building at 71 Vinci Drive is labeled as the nearby Western Middle School.  I have not seen many students around here today.  I chatted with a relative.  The building custodian still has not shown up to fix the toilet.  I called the Greenwich Housing Authority to make sure they got the work order.  When one turns the water off to the toilet with the shut off valve, the toilet works after a while, when one turns the shutoff valve back on, but after the first flush, it quits working again.  I went out, and I chatted with neighbors.  I got the blue plastic bucket out of the back of the Audi, and I put it in the bath tub.  One can flush a toilet by pouring a couple of gallons of water down it.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/24/12 Wednesday 9:15 A.M.  I chatted with the building custodian downstairs.  He said he would get to the toilet repair after his coffee break.  We agreed to do the ceilings and insulation in my apartment next Tuesday and Wednesday depending on how much time it takes.  I move the various items away from the toilet.  CIO

For some reason, my Windows 8 order at www.staples.com has been cancelled although they billed me already.  I emailed them, and I will call them up at 7 A.M..  It sounds like somebody does not want me to have Windows 8.  Having had it installed on my computers for about 13 months, it is not exactly a new product to me.  It is the nature of beta testers, they get bored of the product long before they are released.  Maybe in another year, the beta for Windows 9 will be out.  Microsoft does not pay their beta testers, since they are usually affiliated with other computer companies.  I live near www.ibm.com , but they have ignored me for 50 years other than sharing the same beaches with them around the world.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/23/12 Tuesday 5:00 P.M.  I woke up at noon.  I still had the splitting headache that I had when I went to bed earlier.  I called up www.microsoft.com at 1-800-936-5700, and I told the computer phone that I was interested in Windows 8.  I chatted with someone from New Deli, India for a long time.  I told him about the several problems that I had with Windows 8 RTM.  Besides, the older AMD processors not working with it, the Windows 8 email program does not support the POP3 email client that www.optimum.com uses, instead it has three other email protocols that I am not familiar with and Optimum does not offer.  I also told them about the installation problem I had with installing it on a second partition, but having the product activication coming up on the first partition, and the work around by restoring the first partition backup and then repairing the boot manager with the Windows 7 DVD and then the Windows 8 Consumer release DVD which is somewhat complex.  I chatted about what I have been doing for the last two decades.  I was told Windows 8 Pro is an upgrade, but one can install it without having Windows 7 installed by inserting the Windows 7 DVD.  I tried to go back to bed at 2 P.M., but I slept lightly.  Around 3 P.M., the order with tracking of UPS: Tracking Information on the order for Brew 1 Official Brew1 Single Cup Coffee Maker Website Brew1 Coffee Set with Coffee Maker, Travel Mugs, and reusable coffee capsule in Titanium from Family Daily Deal, 1 Sale A Day for $19.99 and $4.99 shipping for $24.98 total arrived.  I unpacked it.  I put it on the left side of the Krups espresso machine on the center kitchen counter.  I ran a 50% white vinegar and 50% water through it to clean it out, and then I ran cold water through it.  It holds 8 to 12 ounces of water.  I put its coffee cup hodler stand on top of the refrigerator since I won't be using it.  I cleaned the two travel mugs that came with it.  It has a fresh water filter that one uses for water only that I put on the wooden rack behind it.  It came with a plastic coffee holder that one puts coffee in, instead of using the expensive premeasured coffee holders.  I also left it on the wooden rack behind it after I made coffee.  The coffee that comes out of it, is hot and very tasty.  I got out my two smaller black coffee cups and saucers to have available for coffee use, and I cleaned them.  They are in the front of the cups kitchen cabinet on the far right of the kitchen to the left of the refrigerator.   I chatted with a relative who was having 10 medium shrimp for dinner.  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with honey and milk and sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with olive oil, a 12 ounce glass of watered down punch, and a cup of coffee with Splenda sweetener and milk.  I washed the breakfast dishes, and I made my bed.  I ran a 50% white vinegar and 50% water mixture through the Krups espresso machine.  I then ran cold water through it.  The Brew 1 coffee maker turns off automatically after it is done, but one has to wait about two minutes before using it again.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/21/12 Sunday 5:25 A.M.  This past Thursday, www.staples.com spammed their email list by sending out multiple messages by mistake, so this morning I got an email with a $20 off over $50 internet or store purchase, which is how I got the $20 off over $50 Staples purchase coupon.  Since I never use the IBM ThinkCentres except for beta testing and as backup emergency office equipment in case, a higher power ever needed a backup office, I might not put the copy Windows 8 on one of the IBM ThinkCentres, since it would probably never be used.  I think I might save it in case I ever do some major upgrade of my primary work computer or laptops sometime in the future.  However, I never use the two Dell Latitude D410 laptops except for vacation, so that might be necessary.  I will have to think about it.  Still it is a good price, since after the initial offering price, it will be $200.  I also have a spare unused copy of Windows 7 Home Edition.  If I did a hardware upgrade of the primary work computer, it would cripple my existing licenses, so I would probably not do that either.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/13/12 Saturday 12:50 A.M.  I went downtown, and it was not very busy.  I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.  I sat out at various locations.  There was nothing unusual to report.  After my walk, I drove down by the waterfront on Steamboat Road.  They are still remodeling the office building at 600 Steamboat Road.  Russ Reynolds and Associates has rented space there.  There was not much pub activity downtown.  There were still a few fishermen on the Steamboat Road pier, and it looked like they were still catching fish.  I then returned back home.  It seems to be all quiet in remote desolate area of lesser southwestern Connecticut near the New Amsterdam border.  The New Amsterdam colony still keeps a "Dutch Night Watch".  Once it gets colder, we still have the "Freezing Norwegian Patrol".  Current temperature at the Westchester County Airport at this hour is 36 degrees Fahrenheit.  However, it is warming up for a while after tonight, so there is no point in putting out my long underwear and rotating my summer and winter shirts yet.  Just a minor cold spell.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/12/12 Friday 10:45 P.M.  I ate a ham and cheese sandwich on a Kaiser roll with Hellmann's olive oil mayonnaise, Italian spices, ground black pepper, hot horseradish, olive oil and two quarter inch thick slices of a sweet onion with Lays salt and vinegar potato chips and a 12 ounce glass of Sprite.  I will now go downtown for an exercise walk.  Tomorrow is the alumni day for Greenwich Country Day when a lot of veteran Greenwich residents will be out in force on Old Church Road.  Since more than likely I will be sleeping, I will not be attending.  I was one of the four class photographers in the class of 1965 with Jimmy Warburg, Kathy Frick, and Vicky Milbank, but I don't recognize anyone from my class anymore with all of the old people around here.  CIO

I will now shut down the primary work computer, and I will go to bed soon.   Not much happening in this neck of the woods.  I have noticed there are always a lot of dog walkers downtown, and we do have several local pet supply shops in town like Welcome to Pet Pantry Warehouse and the pet supply store at the Whole Foods Shopping center which used to be behind CVS where the new post office now is.  Also unlike the downtown grocery stores, the Stop and Shop in the nearby Glenville section of Greenwich has one who aisle of pet food, so maybe your pets will find something to eat there.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/12/12 Friday 2:25 A.M.  I chatted with a local security agency.  Possibly all of the people downtown with beards are trying to remain incognito in Manhattan with their new security system with 5,000 computerized cameras in the busy area of Manhattan connected up to a massive Microsoft computer database with photo recognition.  The look that I am talking about is this look Nicholas II of Russia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia which use to be very common in Europe, since a lot of the European Nobility had that look.  Possibly the Russians are now sporting that look in mass.

In other unreported news while I was away.  I was told that the major Scottish presence in Greenwich, the Citizen's Bank on upper Greenwich Avenue had a fire in their nearly new building, and the building is currently surrounded with scaffolding for repairs.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/11/12 Thursday 5:05 P.M.  I went outside, and I threw out the garbage.  I chatted with neighbors.  I delivered a UPS package to a neighbor.  UPS no longer delivers packages to the apartment front door, but leaves them in between the two front doors of the building.  The building custodian told me, he wants the ceiling people to do my apartment soon, so he can clean up this area of the building before they go into another area.  However, the ceiling installers told me they would do it at the end of the project, since my apartment is more complicated.  Thus I am getting conflicting messages from different groups of people.  I picked up the mail.  I went back outside, and I got the long grey three cable extension cord out of the trunk of the Audi.  I put it on the top shelf of the right living room closet to have available for ironing clothes.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/11/12 Thursday 3:00 A.M.  I watched Series 2 Episode 3 of "Sherlock Holmes".  Well not much happening way out here in the boon docks of Greenwich, Connecticut.  However, some people like "Peace and Quiet" as opposed to the hustle and bustle of the Big City Life a little ways to the West of Us.  Still we do get a lot of traffic moving further east to the even simpler life further out in Connecticut.  I was against all of the Office buildings being built in Greenwich when it was discussed back in 1974, and it was explained to me, they would pay enough taxes, so the long term residents would be able to afford to live here.  Of course with the inflated value of residential real estate and the very high property taxes, I am not sure how many of those long term residents managed to survive in this area.  Still I try to be diplomatic with the new comers, since more than likely the same will happen to them some time in the future, as they become accustomed to the constant rise of the Cost of Living in this area.  In the old days, when we could afford property, we did quite a bit of gardening.  Now that I am absented minded blogger on the internet, I keep waiting for some sort of brain storm that I can write about.  Greenwich Avenue really does not have much to write about, since it is mostly a daily transient group of people checking out our various shopping venues.  The women particularly like to shop until they drop, since they do not seem to have anything else to do.  Having grown up in matriarchal family I know that.  I will now shut down the primary work computer, and I will go to bed soon.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/10/12 Wednesday 2:55 A.M.  I turned off the Router, so in rebooting the FIC server with the latest updates, the Netgear Storage device would not interfere with the FIC server booting until I turned off its software in Services.  McAfee total security had expired on the first and second IBM ThinkCentres, so I uninstalled it, and I put Microsoft Security Essentials on them using the Microsoft Windows Firewall.  Basically eight of my 10 computers are backup computers that I use for beta testing various operating systems as they become available.  I have them all backed up to external hard drives, so I can return them to working condition after I use them for beta testing.  I have not tested the new version of Ubuntu, but I currently do not have a computer available to put it on, since I need to keep my primary configurations.  For some reason the FIC server with Vista Ultimate takes a long time to boot up, but Vista was always a slow starter.  I think I might have a Windows 7 Server program, but possibly it might be a Vista 7 Server program, but I like running the server with the IIS server from the regular operating system, so I can use the other programs with it.  I transferred the TV connection to the Sceptre TV which is now connected up with the Epox computer for viewing internet content on the HDTV.   I still have three new Seagate 300 gigabyte hard drives in reserve for my primary work computer, and I also have two new spare 160 gigabyte hard drives in reserve backup for the FIC server.  I also have spare motherboards for both of them.  I also have a lot other spares parts including backup power supplies for the primary computer and the FIC server.  I have spare routers, net switches, and a spare cable modem also.  However, I don't have a Spare for myself, so I should work on trying to get myself healthier.  I am thinking about quitting smoking after the election no matter whom wins, and I also need to lose at least forty to six pounds of weight which at this point seems a pipe dream.  I also need to have a crown put on one of my molars, and get my teeth checked and cleaned.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/08/12 Monday 3:55 A.M.  I took the 3.75 year old Maxtor 320 gigabyte hard drive out of the primary work computer, although it still works, and I saved in a Seagate hard drive box without changing it.  I put in a new 300 gigabyte Seagate PATA hard drive, and since I had shrunk the 320 hard drive before doing my most recent backup, I was able to restore my Completer PC backup from August 28, 2012.  I installed the updates and recent changes.  While I had the system opened, I installed the 320 gigabyte Maxtor hard drive from the Netgear Storage device temporarily and did a 1% low level format.  I reinstalled it in the Netgear Storage device.  When I rebooted Windows I had to reinstalled the Netgear storage device software, but it now works.  For some reason the first partition was erased with the 1% low level format, but not the second partition.  I then restored the FIC server backup, and I disabled McAfee Internet Security updates, so I am now able to transfer files through the network.  I now have to transfer some files to the storage device.  For some reason the FIC server turned off twice, but it should not be a software problem.  I ate apple pastry.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/07/12 Sunday 9:20 P.M.  I tried to use the Netgear Storage device with the IBM ThinkCentre by the hallway, but it would not work.  I tried to use it with the Epox computer and it caused the computer to crash.  I had to change the LAN cable routing temporarily to try it.  It leads me to believe there is something wrong with the Netgear Storage device, since neither of those computers have the McAfee firewall.  I am backing up my server folder to the second hard drive on the Epox computer.  I chatted with a relative.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/06/12 Saturday 9:45 P.M.  I went downtown.  I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.  I sat out at various locations.  I chatted with a few local people.  I used the bathroom at Starbucks at the beginning of my walk.  I stopped by CVS and used the bathroom.  I bought four 18.5 ounce cans of Progresso New England clam chowder for 94 cents each for $3.76 total.  On the way down Greenwich Avenue, I stopped by the new coffee shop "CFCF", and they told me a 8 ounce bag of their gourmet blend coffee costs $18.  They were playing Frank Sinatra music, and it is a very nice ambience.  I told them about McNulty's Tea & Coffee Co., Inc. down on Christopher street in Greenwich Village Manhattan.  I finished my walk.  I then went to the Stop and Shop shopping center.  I toured Vals Discount Wines valsputnamwines.com .  I noticed that an eight ounce bottle of Angostura Bitters now costs $15.99.  I used to use it in my iced tea and fruit salads.  I then went to the Stop and Shop.  I bought a four pack of day old muffins for $2, a pound of Stop and Shop premium deli sliced ham for $4.99 a pound for $5.06, a pound of Stop and Shop premium deli sliced provolone cheese for $5.99 a pound for $6.14, a 16 ounce Boston Market beef steak and noodles dinner for $2, a 16 ounce Boston Market meat loaf dinner for $2, a 12 ounce package of Purdue chicken cutlets for $3.34, a 24 ounce package of Simply mashed potatoes for $2.50, and bananas for .79 a pound for .99 for $24.03 total.  I put my groceries in the Audi, and then I went back in the store, and I used the bathroom.  I bought broccoli crowns for $1.19 a pound for $1.15, and buy one get one free of 10.5 ounce Gorton's fish filets for $5.99 both for $7.14 total.  I then went by the Putnam Shell at 401 West Putnam Avenue, and I bought $12 of self service V-Power gasoline with a dime off with my Stop and Shop card for $4.619 a gallon for 2.597 gallons at odometer reading of 71429 miles for 30.1 miles driving since Monday October 1, 2012 for 11.591 miles per gallon in mostly local traffic.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/06/12 Saturday 4:10 A.M.  There is no report in the GreenwichTime.com - GreenwichTime about anything unusual happening in my building yesterday, so more than likely the diseased died of natural causes.  The building where I live is for elderly and disabled individuals, so we have a higher rate of mortality than the average apartment building.  About seven years ago, we had three people die in two weeks.   As a long term resident since the building opened about 23 years ago, it is mostly like being the Maytag repairman.  I do know the building was built around 1907, and was the Byram elementary school for many years. In in 1979, when I lived across the street for a couple of months at Putnam Green it was already shut down from what I recall.  Thus the building was abandoned for a number of years until they paid $2.5 million to remodel it into public housing when I moved in about 23 years ago.  Still it is an older building.  About the only unusual thing I have known about besides asbestos problems is that over the years I have seen a number of unusual spiders including a  large one about three inches in diameter that I saw on a tree outside the building this past summer.   I am not sure if they are health hazards, but they could possibly be, and I don't know if anyone has looked into any unusual or dangerous spider sighting in the building or the area.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/06/12 Saturday 3:30 A.M.  All of our deja vue friends from Manhattan who had a good time out here this past summer have forsaken us for good times in their urban play grounds.  I guess we could always tell them that the polar bears Polar Bears - Central Park Zoo escaped in the Central Park Zoo, and maybe some of them would come out here and visit us in our winter doldrums during the colder periods of the year.  However, New Yorkers seem to think they know it all from the www.nytimes.com .  CIO

Note: <888> 10/06/12 Saturday 3:05 A.M.   I ate a 14 ounce Maria Callender honey roasted chicken dinner with a 12 ounce diet www.coke.com .  I called up the answering service at the Greenwich Housing Authority at 1-203-869-1138, and I told them about the sticks in the outside doors.  I called up a local pub in Manhattan where a friend of mine that owned stock in the World Trade Center used to go before "911", and I told him my friend no longer visits Manhattan, but I was told the Pub is still a lively place.  Of course back up until 1982, when I used to live in Manhattan and visit Manhattan frequently, I only weighed 135 pounds, and I guess at 230 pounds, they would probably not want to see me with my pot belly.  Also I no longer have my New York accent living out here in the wastelands of Connecticut, which most New Yorkers think are light years away, but at this hour of the morning it is only a 20 minute drive to get there, if you get my drift.  They told me one can smoke outside on the steps of the Bar, but I guess they might even have wireless to use outside on the steps which is not a very inviting invitation from a city my family help start, that I can only smoke cigarettes on the steps of a bar, which out here I can do the same.  They obviously do not like me in New Amsterdam, because I do not have any big time wampum.  Of course some of my wealthier friends do not go to public places at their age, but only private clubs that one has to be invited to join.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/01/12 Monday 11:05 P.M.   On another more important detail, the internet activity that I am involved in evolved from the astronomy club BBS in Old Greenwich, Connecticut about 22 years ago, when I used to download free shareware programs from their computer bulletin board.  I heard about 10 years ago Jimmy Bolster is now working at the astrophysics observatory in Argentina.  When I was chatting with the unemployed homeless African American garbage truck driver from Hartford, Connecticut last night, I saw a "Shooting Star" about 10:20 P.M. EDT on September 30, 2012 in the northeast sky going from about 11 A.M. to 4 P.M. on a clock scale.  Since that angle is near the ocean, if it did not burn up in the upper atmosphere, more than likely it probably landed in the Atlantic ocean.  I would say it was at least 50 miles high when I saw it, and it was quite bright.  Since I felt it was an omen from the Gods, I gave the truck drive $2 to get a cup of coffee, but he could have gotten dinner for that same price at www.mcdonalds.com on West Putnam Avenue.  I noticed just to the east of that McDonalds at the Mercedes-Benz New and Used Car Dealer - Bridgeport-Stamford-Norwalk, CT | Mercedes-Benz of Greenwich they have a new Mercedes Benz Gull Wing Roadster , but this is not it 2012 New Mercedes-Benz CL63 AMG at Mercedes-Benz of Greenwich Serving Bridgeport-Stamford-Norwalk, CT, IID 9416743 , but like this 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Gullwing - Specifications, Pictures, Prices , here the two 2012 models they still have New Cars at Mercedes-Benz of Greenwich Serving Bridgeport-Stamford-Norwalk, CT, Inventory , but old timers like me are not allow to drive fancy new sports cars, since we are not reliable enough to drive them, and even if I were bill gates, I would prefer a Maybach USA with a chauffeur to reduce the stress of traveling, but I never go far anyway, so the point is mute.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/01/12 Monday 8:35 P.M.  I went downtown to CVS.  I picked up a prescription, and I paid 50 cents parking.  I then went further downtown.   I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area, but I first walked up Greenwich Avenue instead of down Greenwich Avenue.  I chatted with a few locals.  I toured CVS again and used the bathroom.  I noticed something new on Greenwich Avenue, but I forget what it was.  I stopped by MacInspires and the Apple computer store.  I used the bathroom at Starbucks, and I chatted with staff.  I chatted with someone that looked like a relative of Robert E. Lee.  I chatted with someone from Manhattan waiting at the train station.  The old deli south of the old post office is now reopened under a new named and configuration.  I chatted with a motorcycle person.  I sat out for a while.  I then went by the A&P Fresh.  I bought a 16 ounce Saddlers pulled barbecue chicken for $5.99 with another $1.25 off with a coupon on the package, two 12.5 ounce Lay's Salt and Vinegar potato chips for buy one get one free for $4.29 both, a sweet onion for $1.49 a pound for $1.28, and a bulb of garlic for $2.99 a pound for .48 for $12.03 total.  I then returned home, and I put away my groceries.  I noticed in the roasted chicken rack, the also have about a pound of cooked meat loaf for $7.99.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/01/12 Monday 4:20 P.M.  I went downstairs, and I chatted with neighbors and the building custodian.  I picked up the mail.  I will now go downtown and sit out for a while.   I probably will not walk, since I only had five hours of sleep this morning.   CIO

Note: <888> 10/01/12 Monday 3:05 P.M.  I will now shower and clean up.  I generally do not go out on Mondays, since Mondays on nice days in Greenwich, Connecticut are reserved for senior citizens to do their first of the week errands, and it is a slower pace around town, but not always Man, 84, hit by car in Greenwich - GreenwichTime .  CIO

Note: <888> 10/01/12 Monday 2:45 P.M.  I called up the Malibu, California sheriff's department at 1-310-456-6652, and I chatted with them, and then I called up the Contact Us (Getty Trust) at 1-310-440-7300, and I checked to make sure that nothing disappeared from their Malibu branch on Labor Day in 1980, when John Bolton and myself saw Fred Von Mierers walking out the Museum, when it was closed on Labor Day 1980.  As usual they seemed pretty laid back in California, and not too concerned with petty details of computer nerds.  Goofy who use to live here in Greenwich, Connecticut at Conyers Farm looked like J. Paul Getty - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia , but I have only seen him once since "911".  Believe it or not J. Paul Getty's mother's trust "The Sarah Getty Trust" is suppose to have more money that J. Paul Getty, so some group of old ladies somewhere are sitting on a large pile of money and keeping quiet.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/01/12 Monday 1:30 P.M.  I woke up at 9 A.M. this morning, when the Greenwich Housing Authority representative called about the ceiling replacement and insulation installation.  I told them what I had been told last week.  About 10 A.M., a relative called, and I had another telephone call.  I went out and I talked to the ceiling replacement person, and he told me, he would give me at least a week's warning before he does my apartment.  I chatted with neighbors downstairs.  I chatted with a local security firm.  I chatted about business with the Citizens bank on Greenwich Avenue.  I chatted with a relative.  I left a message with a friend.   I ate breakfast of oatmeal with honey and milk and sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with olive oil, a 12 ounce glass of watered down punch, and a cup of coffee with Splenda sweetener and milk.  I washed the breakfast dishes, and I made my bed.  As far as I know, I have limited connections with the www.cia.gov .  Basically we have been Bush neighbors since 1962, and we might have known them down south, before we moved here in June 1962.  George H.W. Bush did run the C.I.A. in the early 1970s.  I also had a classmate at www.lfc.edu whose father was in the O.S.S. during World War II.  Jim Eldert's godfather was E. Howard Hunt.  It is in the Charter of the C.I.A., they are not allowed to conduct operations within the United Stated of America.  However, the other government security organizations and foreign governments obviously do so.  Since the Bush family lived in Greenwich, Connecticut for a long time around the Harriman and Rockefeller groups, there are obviously a lot of government agents of some sort in this area.  Most of them are democrats, so they do not like me, since I am a Republican Party member.  That is pretty much all I know.  We also use to be neighbors of Lowell Weicker who was a local Connecticut politician.  The new younger generation of young Turks whom have taken over the politics in this country do not pay attention to me, since most of my life I kept busy working, and not playing politics.  Also at the Taft School in Watertown, Connecticut, the Spanish language teacher Beezer Manning had been a C.I.A. agent in Brazil.  Manning was President Taft's wife's family.  My father Louis Dale Scott did know Ian Fleming who wrote the James Bond series of books and who was a British Intelligent agent.  A local pharmacist in this area, told me I am running a C.I.A. safe house, but from what I know, no one has ever contacted me, besides someone from the www.army.mil who is long since retired.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/01/12 Monday 1:05 A.M.  I went out, and I threw out the garbage.  I went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought bananas for .79 a pound for .92 cents.  I then went downtown.  I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue, and the train station area.  I stopped by Starbucks at the beginning of my walk, and I chatted with a regular, and I used the bathroom.  On the way up Greenwich Avenue, I toured CVS.  On the way down Greenwich Avenue, I chatted with a homeless African American garbage truck drive from Hartford, Connecticut who was asking for money.  I gave him $2 for coffee.  As I was chatting with him, I saw a bright shooting star in the northeast sky above the Citizens Bank.  He told me in Connecticut, they now charge $8 a night to stay in the homeless shelters.  I told him about Waste disposal, Collection and Removal, Recycling Centers | Waste Management in Norwalk, Connecticut, if he needed a job driving a garbage truck.  He said he had a class B driver's license.  I then finished my walk.  I sat out for a while.  I then drove down by the waterfront on Steamboat Road, and there were a few fisherman out on the pier.  I then drove over to Walgreen's in Old Greenwich, but they no longer carry the jars of toilet tank blue cleaner.  I chatted with the night clerk from New Canaan about New Canaan.  I-95 going east was at a standstill, so there was a lot of traffic on U.S. 1 going east.  I then went by CVS at the Riverside Shopping Plaza, and two blue toilet tank tablets there are $4.19, so I did not buy them.  I used the bathroom there, and I chatted with a staff member from Peru.  I then went by www.mcdonalds.com at the Riverside exit 5 of I-95, and they were busy with the highway backup.  The sales clerk was from Hondurus  I bought four three McDoubles for a dollar each and 19 cents tax for $3.19.  I ate them there.  I then returned to downtown Greenwich, and I sat out for a while.  I then went by the Putnam Shell at 401 West Putnam Avenue, and I bought $10 of self service V-Power premium gasoline for $4.719 a gallon less a dime a gallon off with my Stop and Shop card for $4.619 a gallon for 2.164 gallons at odometer reading of 71399 miles for 25.2 miles driven since this past Wednesday September 26, 2012 for 11.646 miles per gallon in mostly local traffic.  There is a sign on the Shell Station front glass door that they need help and to inquire within.  I then returned home.  I printed out two copies of my Microsoft Money 2007 Income versus Spending report for September 2012, and I put one copy in an addressed envelope with forever stamp to mail to an interested relative.  I mailed it in the mail room downstairs.  CIO
