I went outside, and I chatted with some neighbors. One of my neighbors has
thrown out a new piece of carpet that broke in half in the roll, but the two
unbroken sides could be aligned together and still used, if someone needs it.
It is lying along side the dumpster. I ate a bowl of K.C.

I ate breakfast of oatmeal with a sliced banana, a toasted bagel with olive oil,

went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train
station area. I chatted with another morning walker about economics.
I chatted with the construction crew working on the store just south of the
Greenwich Hardware store, and they told me it is going to be a Rugby store,
which seems to be odd for Greenwich Avenue. I stopped by CVS, and I
toured the store. They have sold out of the Sylvania energy
efficient bulbs. The same bulb in the RTH brand sells for $5 each
there, so each two pack is worth $10. Thus I have $140 in energy
efficient bulbs in reserve. I might check with some relatives to see
if they need them. I also have a lot of other spare light
bulbs, so I easily have over $200 in spare light bulbs in reserve, so as long as
I can afford electricity, we should be able to keep the lights on in Greenwich,
Connecticut at night in the near future, providing we have electricity, where
ever that comes from and from whatever energy source. After I
completed my walk, I chatted with a resident from Germany. I then
returned home. I noticed when I was going by the police and

P.M.: I chatted with a relative and a contact out of town.
Apparently with the current tracking
Tropical Depression ERNESTO five day tracking, coming ashore on the
Carolina's border, and going inland towards the foot hills of the Appalachian
mountains, there could be flooding on those river basins and watersheds, since
down in Florida the storm has between 5 and 15 inches of rain, and having the
storm over a larger area of land, it would mean more water running down in the
river basins and watersheds of the area. The worse case scenario
from my perspective based on what I know a lot of water could come down the
Potomac River, and the low lying areas of Virginia might flood.
That also might mean some of the low lying areas of Washington D.C. might flood,
but having never lived in that area, I am not sure how far the Capitol area is
above the river flood plain. I think the Lee family mansion is on
higher ground than the White House
www.whitehouse.gov from what I remember, the White House is only about 10
feet above the banks of the Potomac, but it is the nature of flooding that water
tends to run around its lowest point of access, and we all know that Washington
D.C. supposedly has some underground facilities, so possibly there might be a
problem down there in a couple of days. However, people tend to be
away until after Labor Day, so maybe things will be all right by then depending
on what happens. Water also tends to run off fairly fast in that area as I
recall, once the storm surge in the river has gone down. CIO

I put an inch of water in a three quart Revere pot with steamer tray and lid,
and I put in two ears of sweet corn, and about a cup of baby carrots and
broccoli crowns, and I steamed them on high electric heat, until the water began
to steam, and then I lowered the electric heat to medium to medium high.
All together, I cooked the vegetables for 15 minutes. During the
last 8 minutes of the vegetables steaming, I put a couple of tablespoons
of olive oil in a 7 inch diameter stick proof frying pan on medium high electric
heat, once the oil became hot, I put the last two of the boneless 5/8th inch
thick pork chop medallions in the frying pan. I seasoned them on both
sides with garlic powder, ground black pepper, and Italian seasoning cooking
them over medium electric heat flipping them with a cooking fork every minute
for six minutes all together. During the last two minutes, I put in
a few tablespoons of La Choy low sodium soy sauce, and I let the chops simmer in
it while the soy sauce evaporated flipping them once, and then I put them on a
dinner plate with two ears of corn on the cob with a little bit of olive oil on
the steamed corn, and I put the other vegetables in a bowl with a little bit of
olive oil on them. I ate it all with a glass of iced tea. I

various locations. I spent a $1.25 parking downtown.
During my walk, I chatted with one retired individual, and I walked him back to
his retirement home. I stopped by CVS. I then went by
Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street. I then returned
to CVS, and I bought eight two packs of the Sylvania energy efficient light
bulbs for $1.99 each two pack plus .96 tax for $16.88 total.
At the end of my walk, I chatted with another retired individual, and I sold two
of the two packs of energy efficient light bulbs to the individual for $2 each
for $4 total, so I only spent $12.88 on the six packages that I kept.
I used the bathroom at the senior and the arts center. I then drove
down by the waterfront. I then stopped by the Arnold Bread outlet,
and I bought a six pack of New York everything bagels for $1.85 and a 24 ounce
Entenmann's pineapple cheese cake for $2 less 10% senior discount of .39 for
$3.46 total. I then returned home, and I picked up my mail.
I put the spare bulbs on the side board shelf in the bedroom. I
moved some computer items from that location to the white bookcase.

P.M.: I cleaned my two pairs of reading glass and my old pair
of sun glasses in the Sharper Image Eyeglass Cleaning machine. I
first put dishwashing liquid and hot water in it, and I ran each pair through
about four cycles, and I then rinsed them underneath fresh water and set them
out. I then ran each pair through several cycles of a 50% vinegar
and 50% warm water solution, and I rinsed them off. I then polished the
lens with the polishing cloth. I tightened the eye frame screws with
the tiny eye glass screw driver I keep on my dining table. I also
removed the retaining straps while cleaning them. They seem to be
much clearer. I put the Sharper Image eye glass cleaning machine in
the white book shelf in the bedroom that I just installed. I also
put the small camera bag there. I installed six of the Sylvania 13
watt but glows like 60 watt fluorescent bulbs in the six remaining light
fixtures in the apartment that did not have them. I also installed
an extension cord from the computer power control switch that controls the light
above the computer, and it now also controls the light beneath Granddad Boven's
Excerpts from Boven Dutch Apple Pie
and
Boven Family Crest portrait, so it does not stay on all the time, which
would be a nuisance if one were trying to sleep on the living room couches.
They thus both turn off with the switch on the computer power control center.
I put the remaining 5 two packs of the Sylvania 13 watt fluorescent bulbs in the
on the lower shelf of the white book shelf in the bedroom, and I put the package
of four spare bent tip bulbs in my small bulb drawer in the bedroom mahogany
bureau. I also have a large supply of spare regular light bulbs that
use more electricity. CIO

P.M.: I went out after the last message. I went
downtown, and I walked the lower Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.
I then checked out bent tip bulbs at the Greenwich Hardware store, but they did
not come in four packs which are cheaper. I then went by CVS, and I
bought a four pack of RTH 25 watt bent tip bulbs for $3.99, and they had a sales
promotion of two
www.sylvania.com 13 watt
soft white mini 60 compact fluorescent bulbs which put out about 60 watts of
light and each bulb lasts about 7 years and saves $37 I guess during the life of
the bulb for $1.99 a two pack, so I bought 8 two packs for $15.92 plus $1.19 tax
for $21.10 total. The display with the bargain bulbs is at the far right
of the front store check out counter. I think the bulbs are normally
about $8 apiece, so it is a saving on the cost of the bulb and the electricity
used. I did not walk upper Greenwich Avenue, but I returned to my
car. I then went by the Greenwich Library, and I read the Financial
Times of London. There was an articles in it today about the German
process from the 1920s for converting coal into gas, which is suppose to be more
energy efficient than ethanol. I then went by the Greenwich Hospital
Thrift Shop. They have a couple of dozen used 20 inch Phillips color
television sets for $20 apiece. I bought a

can use one part vinegar and one part water, so maybe I will try it
shortly. Or possibly to do some warm soapy water first, and then the
vinegar and water mixture second. It came with a new glasses
polishing cloth. I then returned home, and I chatted with a
relative, and I left a call back message with someone on the Microsoft Partner
program. I also picked up my mail. I will also check
around the apartment, and I will replace any regular light bulbs with the new
low wattage light bulbs, and I already have 7 installed that the Greenwich

dumpster with three shelves besides the top and bottom which is 40.5 inches
high, 20.5 inches wide, and 7.5 inches deep. I brought it up to my
apartment, and I dried it off. I moved the paper shredder from
between the opened bedroom door and the white bureau, and I put the white
bookcase in that location. It just fits in, but the door will not
open all the way flush with the wall, but it opens most of the way.
Thus I have a little bit extra storage room in the bedroom. I moved
the paper shredder and wire folding cart to in front of the white bureau.
I then went out, and I went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop. I
then drove down by the waterfront on Steamboat Road, and two of the regular
fishermen were catching blue fish. I noticed over in Belle Haven,
they have torn down Victor Borge's house and they are in the process of tearing
down the Watson
www.ibm.com family home.
I believe each property was listed for $18.5 million, so I do not know if they
are subdividing them both into two acre lots or if they are making one $37
million lot. I noticed they also have taken out the dock at the
Watson property. Thus the waterfront seems to be getting more
expensive in Greenwich, Connecticut. I next went by the Greenwich
Library, and I read P.C. Magazine and P.C. World magazine. I then went by
the Stop and Shop, and I bought a package of four boneless pork chop medallions
for $3.59 a pound for $3.63, two 16 ounce jars of Planter's dry roasted lightly

washed the dishes, and I made my bed. While, I was asleep I downloaded
Vista Beta 2 build 5536. I downloaded it to the server, since that
is running anyway while I was asleep. On the primary computer, I did
a Windows XP Professional Automatic System Recovery backup from the C: drive to
the D: drive. While doing that after breakfast I watched a bit of
the SciFi channel. The movie about a dragon is coming on at 9 P.M.,
but I have work to do, so I will not watch it. I will install the
Vista beta shortly on the primary computer. CIO

A.M.: I chatted with a friend.
I took a Pyrex pie disk, and I rubbed its bottom with a little bit of olive oil.
I rinsed two remaining boneless chicken breasts with cold water and dried them
with a paper towel, I put them on a dinner plate, and I rubbed the bottom side
of each with a little olive oil, and then I spread Progresso Italian bread
crumbs on the bottom side, and then I did the same thing on the top side, and I
put them in the Pyrex pie dish, and I baked them at 350 degrees Fahrenheit in
the Farberware convection oven for 35 minutes. I put an inch of
water in a three quart Revere pot with steamer tray and lid, and I put in two
ears of sweet corn, and about a cup of baby carrots and broccoli crowns, and I
steamed them on high electric heat, until the water began to steam, and then I
lowered the electric heat to medium to medium high. All together, I
cooked the vegetables for 15 minutes. I put one of the chicken
breasts on a dinner plate with two ears of corn on the cob with a little bit of
olive oil on them, and I put the other vegetables in a bowl with a little bit of
olive oil on them. I put the other cooked chicken breast in a
Rubbermaid container in the refrigerator. I ate it all with a glass
of iced tea. I will now go through my email. CIO

A.M.: I was awake at 10 P.M..
I ate breakfast of oatmeal with a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with
olive oil, orange juice with vitamins and supplements, and coffee. I
washed the dishes, and I made my bed. I chatted with a relative.
I took a couple parts from the server, and I assembled those parts along with
parts from the Northgate Syntax computer, and I have them ready for the new red
Viper case when it arrives this Wednesday. I reconfigured the Northgate
Syntax computer with parts from the Dell V350 computer, and the Northgate Syntax
computer is now on the left side of the bedroom desk, and it runs just fine.
The Dell V350 case stripped of its parts is on the floor of the bedroom at the
bedroom entrance in front of the white bureau. The way the computers
are and will be configured when I received the new red aluminum case is
http://mikelouisscott.com/computer.htm . I also exchanged the
Pontec speakers from the bedroom with the Jensen speakers from the living room,
since the Pontec power cable did not work off the bedroom control panel.
Thus there is no working CPU attached to the brass and glass coffee table
configuration in the living room until I get the new case this Wednesday.

The two cushions for it, I put underneath the cushion on the chair between the

some reason copy the files from the server to the primary computer takes to

plus $2.95 shipping with coupon code "SHIP295" on over a $50 order for $55.46
total. I will build the system with my spare Epox motherboard, and I
will use the 20 gigabyte hard drive from the Northgate Syntax backup computer,
and the AMD Athlon XP 2000 processor, along with a LAN card, and I will use the
DVD/R from the server or one of the two DVD/RW from the primary computer and I
have extra CD/RW drives in the other backup computers, and I will use the 64
meg. PCI video card from the server, and I will put the 8 meg. PCI video card in
the Northgate as the second video card in the server, and the red viper case
comes with two case fans, and I have two spare CPU coolers, and the red viper
case comes without a power supply, but I have two new spare power supplies, so I
can configure it with one 512 meg. memory chip. On the Northgate Syntax
computer, I can put in the spare AMD Duron 1.6 meg. processor, and the second 10
gigabyte hard drive from the Dell V350, along with letting it only have one
CD/RW drive, and I can run it with the remaining 256 meg. memory chip.
I can put Linux on the Dell V350 and the Northgate Syntax, so basically I will
have the much slower Dell V350 working, but I will not have it setup, since
there is no room for it, and I don't have a monitor for it. I can
always add a 64 meg. PCI video card at a later date to the server for about $20
with shipping. Thus for $50, I will have a backup computer that runs
four times faster than the Dell V350, and I will have improved the backup coffee
table computer. The Viper 2 case

went back to sleep until 1 A.M.. I did some bottom fishing on
the internet. I washed the breakfast dishes, and I made up the sofa where
I took my nap. I have a couple of pillows stuffed underneath the
French reproduction chair with the sheep skin on it. I read my
primary computer Gigabyte motherboard manual, and the primary computer does not
completely turn off. Its fans keep going once the computer is turned off
by its case switch. I tried changing the case power cable around on
the motherboard, but that did not make a difference. I removed the front
panel, and the case front wires looked all right. All I can figure
out it the current power supply interacts with the motherboard differently than
the previous power supply that is now in the server. I lowered the
primary computer power supply fan to medium from high speed. I
cleaned the case filter at the front of the CPU. It all seems to be
working just fine. I just will have to continue turning off the complete
power to the computer with the UPC device and the control panel. I

Weather . I am somewhat confused by my present location in terms
of possible flooding. When I looked down the hill behind the
building, we seem to be at least 100 feet above the Byram River and the lower
area of Port Chester, New York. However when I drive south from my
building, it seems to be a flat road most of the way to the Byram Shore beach
and park which would be at sea level. Thus the road must gradually
go down hill from this location to sea level at Byram Shore. Of
course if Manhattan flooded in a hurricane, it would also have a lot of problems
with its electrical grid, and thus many of the people in high rise buildings
above sea level would be stuck in the upper floors without elevators working.
I have been told by an older individual in this area when the pier on Steamboat
Road floods, Manhattan is starting to flood. They now have computer
models about what can happen in a worse case scenario, but they do not show them
to the general public, so as not to scare them. Also there are
suppose to be 80 million people living along the Atlantic coast from the south
coast of Texas to the north of Maine. If you add the people in the
Caribbean, Latin America, and Canada, I think it would be safe to say over a
hundred million people are at risk from hurricane activity on the eastern coast
of the Americas. CIO

A.M.: I woke up at 1 P.M. yesterday.
I ate breakfast of oatmeal with a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with
olive oil, orange juice with vitamins and supplements, and coffee. I
washed the breakfast dishes, and I made my bed. I went out to my 4 P.M.
appointment. I then chatted with the MIT observer downtown.
The MIT observer wants me to print out this article

walked lower Greenwich Avenue and the train station area. I chatted
with a couple from England whom are living here. I gave the MIT
observer four cigarettes. I then went by the Food Emporium, and I
bought a package of four halves of boneless breasts of chicken for $1.79 a pound
for $3.96 and fresh Dole bananas for .69 a pound for $2.02 for $5.98 total.
I then returned home, and I went to bed again after picking up my mail.
I chatted with a friend whom needs a hernia operation. I woke
up at 11:30 P.M.. I took a Pyrex pie disk, and I rubbed its bottom
with a little bit of olive oil. I then opened up the package of four
boneless chicken breasts. I rinsed two with cold water and dried
them with a paper towel, and I put them in a Rubbermaid container in the
refrigerator. I rinsed the other two with cold water, and I dried
them with a paper towel. I put them on a dinner plate, and I rubbed
the bottom side of each with a little olive oil, and then I spread Progresso
Italian bread crumbs on the bottom side, and then I did the same thing on the
top side, and I put them in the Pyrex pie dish, and I baked them at 350 degrees
Fahrenheit in the Farberware convection oven for 35 minutes. I also
made up a batch of
Michael Louis
Scott's Microwave Oven Rice Recipe which I put two chicken bouillon cubes
in, and I put half of the rice on a dinner plate with one of the chicken
breasts, and I put the remaining rice in a Rubbermaid container and the other
cooked chicken breast in another Rubbermaid container, and I ate it all with a
side dish in a large soup bowl with one fourth of the chic pea and olive mixture
that I made last night along with a glass of iced tea. I then
drank a cup of coffee. I will now start two loads of laundry, and I
will put clean sheets on my bed. CIO

anyone is short on fuel and has a microwave oven, the last time I checked a 10
pound bag of Carolina enriched rice similar to Uncle Ben's was $4.99 at the Stop

Michael Louis Scott's Microwave
Oven Rice Recipe . One can add a little tomato ketchup or soy sauce or
chicken or beef bouillon powder or sesame oil or olive oil or butter or
margarine for a little flavoring. Rice is very popular with the
Asian and Hispanic communities, so as long as the price of it is inexpensive it
tends to be a staple item in their diet. However to ship 10 pounds
from the Carolinas might cost a little bit more anymore, so possibly it has gone
up in price. Of course there are other forms of bullion, and if one
had invested in them for the last few years, one more than likely kept up with

returned back to my apartment. I opened a 19 ounce can of Hormel

reheated it on two reheat cycles of the microwave, and I put it in a bowl, and I
ate it with a glass of iced tea. I will now put the 6 volt battery in the

A.M.: I have been thinking about some future backup computer
upgrades, but I can not afford them. Although I could buy another
computer case for $20 or $30 and use one of my spare motherboards with it and
one of my spare power supplies and use the Northgate Syntax AMD 2000 processor
and put the spare Duron 1.6 processor in the Northgate, and use a spare CPU
cooler, I would have to take the 512 meg. memory chip out of the Northgate and
put it in the new backup configuration as well as the hard drive from the
Northgate, and I would still need another video card, so I would have to get
dual video card for the server and use one of the server's two video cards for
the new backup configuration, and I would have to take one of the two 10
gigabyte hard drives out of the Dell V350 and put it in the Northgate, and I
would not have room to setup the Dell V350, so it would not be used, and the
Northgate would be the second computer on the bedroom desk.
Figuring video card for $50 and case for $20 or $30, we would be talking minimum
$80, but I would also need a dual video card adapter which would be about $10
with shipping, and a new PC backup configuration with 512 of memory would be all
right, but the Northgate would be too slow with 256 megs of memory, and I would
not be taking advantage of the three 128 meg. memory modules in the Dell V350
which will not work in the other computers, so it is best to leave them all as
they are presently configured and to save my spare parts in case I need them.
Maybe between Thanksgiving Time and Christmas time when I get my $300 Renter's
Rebate, I can reconsider. Also in October 2006, I will have both
automobile insurance and electricity bill payments, so I will not have any extra
money. Thus while the weather is nicer, I would rather use any
extra money in September to move around a little bit more and to get ready for
winter, instead of spending money on unnecessary computer parts, since as far as
I am concerned I have everything I need right now. In the process of
moving around, I am doing my own public relations, since some of the local
village idiots seem to spend time in pubs, but they do not know how to use
computers. I ate a bowl of barbeque potato chips. I will now

put a half cup of Quaker Old Fashioned oatmeal in a large microwave proof bowl
with a little less than a cup of water, and then put the bowl in a microwave
oven with a microwave lid on top of the bowl, and run the microwave on regular
cycle for 1 minute and 40 seconds. Once the oatmeal is cooked, one
can put a little bit of cinnamon and milk with it and stir it together and then
some sliced banana on top. When I went to Lake Forest College
www.lfc.edu back in 1968, a family friend
here in Greenwich, Connecticut named Jim Warburg wrote my recommendation to Mr.
Douglas in Lake Forest, Illinois whom had been Franklin Delano Roosevelt's
secretary of the Air Force. One of my roommates my junior year
at Lake Forest College was named David Field, and he lived for a while on the
Farm in northwest Lake Forest with three other roommates, and David Field dated
another Mr. Douglas's daughter in Lake Forest, Illinois. That Mr.
Douglas was president of Quaker Oats at the time. At the time David
Field was from Fairfield, Connecticut, but he might have been living on the farm
under an alias. For all I know his real name was David Eisenhower
Family Life at the White House Historical Photo Essay , but it were he sure
does not look the same today. The David Field that was a roommate on
the Farm was two years younger than myself, so he would be 54 and been born in
1952, and he drove a green MG and as I recall a brown BMW. No David Field
shows up in Fairfield, Connecticut today, so maybe David Field was David
Eisenhower living under an alias. I have been around a lot of people
over my life whom have used fake names. Perhaps from what I
know, it would seem that Military Intelligence should be advised that they talk
to much when they drink in bars. I recall seeing someone around
Christ Church in Greenwich, Connecticut the night Dorothy Bush died, and he was
a young minister there, and as I recall the fellow working there at the time
looked like David Eisenhower, so perhaps he has visited our area from time to
time. As I recall when I spoke to him that evening, I told him
the television trucks would be improper, and I told him to get rid of them, and
shortly thereafter they were gone. Of course if they would not
listen to David, more than likely his grandfather or father in law would know
somebody that they would listen to. CIO

welcome, but at one time the Scott family had the land grant for Virginia, so
probably there is a relative or two still in that neck of the woods.
The Rockefeller family in this area whom are suppose to be in the know always
tell everyone that I am from Virginia, but since I have lived here most of my
life, it would seem the Rocks are out of touch with reality.
The Scott family were pretty much original settlers in all of the Atlantic ocean
ports of settlement in North America from the earliest days, since they were
able to go back and forth to the Old World and since they maintained
communications with their various trading partners. For all I know
we are the original Rum Runners from the Caribbean, but more than likely since
the Spanish were down there a hundred years before us, we dealt with them when
we finally arrived on the scene later. CIO

Queen Elizabeth II is suppose to be 5 foot 3 inches tall, but as she gets older,
she probably leans over a bit like older people do. Her husband
Prince Phillip is suppose to be 5 foot 10 inches as is Charles their eldest son.
However, Prince William is suppose to be 6 foot 3 inches and Harry is suppose to
be 6 foot 2 inches tall, and Jimmy Carter is 5 foot 9 inches tall, so some of
the heights have changed since I last looked at them a few years ago.
Of course if we are trying to start a basketball team locally, I know at least a
dozen people here in town that are over 6 foot 6 inches tall or taller, but I am
not sure whether they play basketball or not. After the last message
I went out, and I drove downtown, and I chatted with the MIT observer.
I gave the MIT observer 4 cigarettes. I then walked lower Greenwich
Avenue and the train station area. The usual pub crawlers were out.
While chatting with the MIT observer, I overheard two couples walking up
Greenwich Avenue saying that Microsoft
www.microsoft.com is going to move all of their New York City employees to
Stamford, Connecticut which would be a couple of thousand employees.
However, it might be just rumor since I have not read the story in the news yet.
Once the North American branch of
www.rbs.co.uk
completes their office consolidation in Stamford, Connecticut in the next couple
of years, Stamford, Connecticut is suppose to the be the fourth largest
financial center in the world after New York City, London, and Hong Kong.
I think the deepest pockets in Stamford, Connecticut would be
www.ge.com Credit Corporation which is suppose
to have about a half trillion dollars of investment capital. I
next walked up Greenwich Avenue, and I turned west on West Elm Street, and I
walked over to the Food Emporium nearby. I bought a 48 ounce
container of Quaker Old Fashioned oatmeal for $4.19. I chatted with
a local Greenwich Fireman, and he told me there was a vintage airplane out at
Westchester airport. I then walked back East on West Putnam Avenue
to Greenwich Avenue and back down Greenwich Avenue. It changes all
of the time, but this past evening and during the early morning hours the upper
Greenwich Avenue pubs seemed to have been busier that the lower Greenwich Avenue
pubs. Of course all of that changes from night to night depending on whom
is trying to get lucky where. I put the oatmeal back in the car.
I chatted some more with the MIT observer. The MIT observer does not
agrees with all of Microsoft's business developments, but he is entitled to his
own viewpoint. I think the MIT observer having lived in Europe is
more pro Linux or Unix. Of course not every office secretary
or clerk as the same computer skills as someone whom went to
www.mit.edu , so obviously Microsoft serves a
certain niche market for people whom do not want to go to
www.mit.edu to learn how to use a computer.
He told me the Greek restaurant across from Polaroid's research laboratory near
MIT now serves pizza. I suppose if one found out where the Microsoft
office is going to be in Stamford, Connecticut, one could make a lot of money by
opening up a pizza parlor and deli and Chinese take out restaurant nearby and
maybe even a company pub. I next returned home, and on my way home,
I chatted with another regular night time person. CIO

Once the fat began to simmer, I added the salmon pattie, and I cooked it for
four minutes a side on medium to medium high electric burner heat.

Greenwich Hardware store. They carried it part number 15983
F4TCW 4 watt four inch florescent tube bulb for $6.99 and .42 tax for $7.41
total. I tried, it but the light switch is defective for that
particular bulb on the Volvo flashlight assembly, so I returned it, since it was
the last one they had. It looks like the Greenwich Hardware store is
expanding into the adjacent store on the street level in their new remodeling
job. I then went to my 3 P.M. appointment. I next went
by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop. I then went by Putnam Trust
Bank of New York on Mason Street. I then went downtown.
I gave the MIT observer the care package I had brought along with me.
I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.
I sat out at various locations. During my walk, I used the bathroom
at the senior and the arts center. I stopped by CVS, and I bought a
20% more 19.2 ounce jar of CVS dry roasted peanuts for $1.99. I then
completed my walk. At the end of my walk, I ran into another walker,
I walked back with the other walker to CVS and then we stopped by the Black
Forest bakery. I then sat out for a while with the other walker.
I then chatted briefly with the MIT observer. I then stopped by the
Greenwich Automotive Service Center Exxon gasoline station, and I bought $8 of
self service premium unleaded gasoline at $3.659 a gallon for 33.9 miles driving
this week at 13.7 miles per gallon driving about an average of 13 miles per
hour. I then returned home. I chatted with some
neighbors. I took a microwave proof dinner plate, and I put three
pieces of paper towels on it, and five evenly spaced pieces of bacon and two
more paper towels and the plastic microwave plate cover, and I put it in the
microwave oven, and I set the time to 4.5 minutes. I then broke in a
large metal bowl four large eggs, and I added a couple tablespoons of milk, a
tablespoon of grated parmesan cheese, a teaspoon of olive oil, and about a half
teaspoon of Italian spices, and I whisked it all together. I
then put a couple tablespoons of olive oil in a 10 inch stick proof frying pan,
and I heated in medium high electric burner heat, and once the fat began to
bubble, I started the bacon in the microwave, and I started toasting two halves
of an English muffin, and I added the egg mixture to the frying pan.
I cooked the eggs for about five minutes, until they were softly scrambled
lowing the heat halfway through the process to medium. I put a
little bit of olive oil on the English muffins, and I ate it all with a glass of
iced tea. I chatted with a relative. I always wash
my dishes after every meal. CIO

went out after the last message. I went by the Food Emporium, and I
bought Dole bananas at .69 a pound for $2.35. I chatted with a
former English neighbor from South Africa. I then went by CVS
on Greenwich Avenue, and I bought a 16 ounce jar of CVS Honey Roasted peanuts
for $1.99. There must a be a lot of people from down south around,
because that was the last of the nuts on sale. I chatted with the
Philippine staff about the volcano in the Philippines. I then drove
over to the new Radio Shack in Cos Cob by the Cos Cob fire house, and I bought a
Radio Shack Industrial Heavy Duty lantern battery for $4.99 plus .30 tax for
$5.29 total. They have an alkaline one for $15. I toured
their new store. I then returned to central Greenwich.
I walked lower Greenwich Avenue and the train station area. I bought
at Zyn stationary a Double Doubler scratch card for a dollar, but I did not win.
I chatted with another walker. One could hear a concert going on in
Baldwin Park. I chatted with the MIT observer, and apparently
although the MIT observer is from the United States of America having traveled
quite a bit and lived 45 places besides here, he might be of Lithuania origin,
but he is not sure. I gave him a banana. He said he could use some of the
clothes that I had prepared for him, and not the other stuff, so the next time I
go downtown, I will bring along the clothes, since it is getting colder here.
He said he might be heading south in a couple of days. I chatted
about technology in the area. I walked up Greenwich Avenue,
and I used the ATM machine at Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Greenwich Avenue,
and I sat out at the top of Greenwich Avenue at the Pickwick Plaza on their
stone wall. On rainy days the Chase Plaza at that same location has
a canopy for shelter. I walked back down Greenwich Avenue.
I then chatted some more with the MIT observer, and I gave him a third of a pack
of New York Seneca Ultra Lights 100s. I then went by the Stop
and Shop, and I bought a dozen extra large eggs for $1.69, two 1.75 quart
containers of Turkey Hill peaches and cream ice cream for $1.99 each, a 12 roll
pack of double rolls of Angel Soft toilet paper for $3.99, two 11 ounce
bags of Lays sour cream and onion potato chips for .99 each plus .24 tax for
$11.88 total. I then returned home, and I put away my
purchases. I installed the new lantern battery in my large yellow
Eveready lantern, but it blew out the krypton bulb that I had put in yesterday,
so I used the spare regular bulb. I have another spare krypton bulb
on the bedroom side board that I will use only for the flash lights. I put
the used lantern battery in the smaller regular size lantern, and I used CVS
super glue gel to secure the lantern battery handle. I keep both of
them behind the apartment entrance door. I reheated the remaining
cooked spaghetti in a Rubbermaid container and the tomato sauce in a microwave
proof pot with lid in the microwave, and I put it on a dinner plate with a
couple of tablespoons of grated parmesan cheese, and I ate it all with a glass
of iced tea. I had a telephone call from a friend that got

08/15/06 Tuesday 2:10 A.M.: As I
was preparing to leave, a representative of Queen Victoria's court here in
America called up on his way back home, and said he would be stopped by to visit
shortly. I quickly put the British Union Jack flag back on display
in the hallway, and I showered and I cleaned up. My guest arrived
shortly thereafter. I gave my guest a glass of iced tea. We
chatted for a while. My guest left around 10:30 P.M., and I gave him
a 5.5 ounce tube of Pringle sour cream and onion potato chips to eat on his way
home. My guest has a company car that he uses to drive around New
York State, and it is a Honda Civic Hybrid sedan
www.honda.com , which he has earlier since he is a New York State government
employee helping to save energy by promoting horses. It is a very fancy
modern car, and it supposedly switches from gasoline to electric power at slower
urban speeds. I guess it is the latest and friendliest in eco
friendly long distance transportation, since he drives about a hundred thousand
miles a year in New York State promoting the Horse Racing Industry.
After my guest left, I went downtown, and I chatted with the MIT observer about
the world as I know it today. He currently is not in need of any
care packages. I was a bit tired, so I did not walk downtown.
After chatting, I returned home. I put the frozen bread from the care
package in the freezer and the two cans of soda back in the refrigerator.
I left the care package underneath the telephone table in case it is needed in
the future by the MIT observer. I will now go through my email.
It is hot outside here in Greenwich still in August, so until Thursday I will
remain on a night schedule to stay cool inside and when I go out it will be
cooler in the evening. The MIT observer seems to be colder here this time
of year, since he was wearing a light jacket like he felt it is cold here, which
I guess would be the case if one were from Florida. CIO

08/14/06 Monday 8:20 P.M.: I boiled three quarts of water
with a teaspoon of olive oil and a dash of sea salt. I then
boiled for 10 minutes a 16 ounce package of San Georgio vermicelli noodles.
I then drained the water with a colander into another pot, and I threw the hot
water down the bathroom sink to clean out my shaving soap scum. During the
last five minutes of the boiling, I microwaved half the contents of a 26 ounce jar of
Ragu
Ragu - Promotions & Contests Robusto 7
herb tomato sauce in a microwave proof plastic pot with lid in the General
Electric microwave oven on the reheat cycle twice. I put half of the
cooked vermicelli noodles in a flat Rubbermaid container in the refrigerator,
and the other half I put on a dinner plate with the heated tomato sauce and a
few tablespoons of grated parmesan cheese. I ate it all with a
glass of iced tea. I put the remaining tomato sauce in the jar in the
refrigerator. I left messages with a few friends and family.
I was told by a neighbor that most of Port Chester, New York residents are from
the country Columbia in South America, and they are using the local Westchester
County airport for importing and exporting the various products that their
business cartel controls. You have to remember the Spanish have a
simplistic viewpoint on drug control since in Spain, there are no pharmaceutical
laws, and most people just go to the pharmacy and buy what they need without a
prescription unlike here in the United States of America. It sort of
leaves the doctor out as the middle man. It seems to be general knowledge
in the general public. I will now shower and I will clean up, and I
will go out for an evening stroll. I will also take the care package
in case the MIT observer is around. CIO
Note:<888>
08/14/06 Monday 6:40 P.M.:
I went outside, and I chatted with some neighbors. My socks
arrive from
www.ups.com , and I laid them out
on the back of the down sofa. They are quite nice, and seem to be durable
enough for walking and warm enough for the cooler weather, and they also are
mostly polyester, so they can be dried in the dryer. I brought up the Red
Eveready plastic flash light from the car, and I took out its batteries, and I
put the two D batteries from it in my apartment hard rubber RayOVac flash
light by the telephone table. I put two new alkaline heavy duty D
batteries in the plastic Red Eveready flash light. I also put three
new alkaline heavy duty D batteries in the RayOVac sportsman flash light by the
telephone table in the apartment. I also brought up the small Jim
Wynn Volvo flat plastic flash light from the car, and I but four new AA alkaline
batteries in it, but only its flash light part works, the 5 inch florescent tube
bulb needs to be replaced. I started recharging my 2.5 million watt
rechargeable lantern. I had one partially used lantern battery in
smaller lantern that worked, and I put it in the larger lantern behind the
apartment door with a new Krypton bulb, and I stored the regular bulb inside the
lantern. The smaller lantern does not have a lantern battery, and it has a
broken handle, so it is awkward to use. I will save the old batteries in
my old battery bag on the side board in the bedroom, but I will throw out the
three old lantern batteries. The last lantern battery that is still
good that I bought cost a $1.69 at Odd Job a few years ago, so I wonder what one
costs today at CVS today. Since I have a rechargeable lantern, I do
not need to replace it right away. I will now put the two flash
lights back in the Volvo. CIO

recall back in the period from September 1976 through about May 1978, when I

getting lice, and that is that I use to regularly swim in the cooler winter salt
water ocean, which probably prevented me from getting lice since I frequently
had the dried salt water ocean water residue all over my body. CIO

08/14/06 Monday 7:50 A.M.: I put
the care package for the MIT observer in another two larger plastic kitchen
garbage bags, so it is more easily transported by the MIT observer, since he
ditched his back pack, and thus the bags should not break easily if he had to
carry them. I have not had the MIT observer over at my apartment or
in my car, so I do not think I have to worry about lice. However, I
do sit around town on many public benches and in the Greenwich Library
occasionally, and I have also bought a lot of merchandise over the years at
various thrift shops around town. However, in my apartment I keep
four ultrasonic pest and bug zappers. However, just to be on the
safe side, I sprayed a little
CVS antibacterial disinfectant spray fresh linen scent

two scoops of butter pecan lite ice cream. I will now shut down the

08/14/06 Monday 6:15 A.M.: Happy
Birthday to a relative. I went out after the last message. I
went downtown, and I chatted with the MIT observer. Like other
people whom do not manage to graduate from college such as
mailto:billg@microsoft.com , the MIT
observer is having a hard time getting the electronic money from
www.mit.edu to work in this area. I
walked lower Greenwich Avenue. I then walked back up Greenwich
Avenue, and I chatted with the MIT observer again. With the higher
prices of fuel in this area, not many people seem to be lingering in around
Starbucks downtown on Greenwich Avenue anymore. I then walked up
Greenwich Avenue, and in front of the old Sam Goodys music store that went out
of business where they are constructing a Vineyard Vines clothing store, on the
bench I found two Planet Pizza large size boxes with about three uneaten slices
in each box. I took them back down Greenwich Avenue, and I gave them
to the MIT observer for a snack. Cold pizza is very common in
the computer business. I then walked back up to the top of Greenwich
Avenue, and I sat out for a while at the Pickwick Plaza. I then
walked east on East Putnam Avenue, and I chatted with the hanging plant watering
truck man, and the regular plant watering man is away back home visiting
Scotland. I then walked back to Greenwich Avenue, and I walked down
Greenwich Avenue. I chatted some more with the MIT observer. A
young lady in distress dressed like Cinderella was stopped by several Greenwich
Police cars, until they managed to get her a taxi cab in the early morning
hours. I then walked down lower Greenwich Avenue and the train station
area again. Apparently the bars are now opened on Sunday nights
Monday mornings, until 1 A.M., so they must have changed the Connecticut Blue
laws which used to close them at 11 P.M. on Sundays. I then returned back
to my car, and I drove directly back home. I ate the last of the
gelatin fruit mixture with some iced tea. The MIT observer is from
Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and although he has camped out all over America for
the last eight years, he is beginning to feel cool in this area. I
went through my older clothing, and I found a pair of smaller khaki pants that
had shrunk to about size 32 inches waste by 30 inches length, and they are made
by Banana Republic with extra large pockets such as computer nerds like.
I had to sew on a copper button, so they can be fastened properly. I found
an older Stanley Blacker faded cotton flannel shirt in white blue red and purple
pattern formerly 2XX large size before it shrank. I got a new 32
inch cloth belt in brown white green strip pattern that came with a pair of
pants. I got a pair of old white cotton socks. The MIT
observer seems to have contracted Lice from sleeping outside, so I got a CVS 12
ounce antibacterial disinfectant spray fresh linen scent unused and a Walgreen's
Ethyl Rubbing Alcohol 70% 16 ounce bottle and an a old dark green terry
cloth wash cloth. I put these in a double layer plastic grocery bag.
The MIT observer regularly uses the Greenwich Library internet computer
terminals, so some of their chairs probably have lice. For food I got a
8.5 ounce box of Triscuit reduced fat baked whole grain wheat crackers, a 18
ounce reduced fat Jif Creamy peanut butter, a 40% used load of frozen Arnold
dark German bread, a 12 ounce can of A&W diet root beer, a 12 ounce can of diet
Coke, a generic metal spoon, and new disposable razor, a .85 Crest cool mint
Multi-Care toothpaste, a new Colgate tooth brush, a package of Seneca Ultra
Lights 100s in a box, a generic red disposable lighter, and I went back downtown
with the bag, but the MIT observer was away sleeping rough as they say in
Outward Bound in England. I then walked lower Greenwich Avenue
again, and there was another happy camper sleeping on the steps of the office
building across from the Greenwich Train station. I walked the train
station area, and back up to the central Greenwich area, and the MIT observer
was not around. I then drove down by the waterfront, and I chatted
with the most regular early morning fisherman. I then returned to
the central Greenwich area briefly, and I returned home. I will take
the Care Package with me next time, I go downtown in the evening for the MIT
observer. Apparently in Connecticut which is close to Manhattan
people are so use to seeing people sleep rough that most people ignore them.
Since the MIT observer prefers not to use public shelters and social services
which frequently is the case with more fundamentalists Americans, I am just
trying to be neighborly in helping him out. I will not be doing it on a
regular basis, and we have good enough social services in this area that
individuals do not really need to bother members of the general public for help.
However, I guess the MIT observer in traveling around America for 8 years is
thinking more like the traditional Steinbeck type character in "Travels with
Charlie". I do not consider him a threat, but he should not be
bringing lice into public places such as the Greenwich Library, if you get my
drift. However, I am sure plenty of other people have done do so in the
past. CIO

Global gas prices . If you want to go for a drive, try being a
communist in Venezuela at 12 cents a gallon. Let's see what can we sell
Venezuela in return for fuel. Obviously they are a warm weather
country, so they probably have plenty of food. They are next to
Columbia, so they have access to drugs. Possibly they like to
travel, so we could offer package tours to the north country, where they get to
work as cheap immigrant help to see how the upscale Anglos live.
More than likely they already have cheap goods manufactured in Brazil.
Basically we could start our own oil company up north selling their cheap fuel.
Why don't we call it Anaconda Oil

I guess Venezuela has everything it needs, so I guess there is no point in
trying to get them to supply us with cheap oil, since Castro of Cuba seems to
have control over them. Alas, I only know about the Rockefeller
ranch in Venezuela, and
http://mikelouisscott.com/fred.htm 's partner Taylor Sterling supposedly
designed their ranch down there, so obviously if Fred were around he might have
a connection with Venezuela oil. Alas Fred does not know how to
drive a car, and he mostly walks or rides a bike, since he is Dutch.
I do recall that Fred's group of friends had a weakness for good quality liquor
since particularly they did not drive cars, of course much the same could be
said for most of Manhattan. We still have stretch limousines moving
around this area, so obviously a lesser few of the privileged few can afford to
hire them. With the energy needs of the Navy and the Air Force, I
have a feeling foot soldiers are going to become more popular in the military.
Alas, everyone knows the Air Force is the most computer literate branch of the
five services. Of course that does not mean they know how to supply
energy. For energy try

produce it one has to raise the crops such as field corn which takes energy and

The way I figure it gasoline in my 1995 Volvo 850 Turbo station wagon is costing
me about 35 cents a mile to drive locally. From where I live in
Byram by West Putnam Avenue neat the Port Chester, New York border is about 5
miles round trip downtown if I park by senior center, for about $1.75 round
trip, and if I drive down to the end of Steamboat Road on the same trip, it is
about another two miles for another 70 cents or about $2.45 round trip.
On my budget a daily $2.45 round trip to enjoy the view of Long Island sound is
awfully expensive, and if they really needed me down there, they could call me
up and invite me down. I lived on Steamboat Road for 4.5 years
before I moved here in Byram for the last 18.5 years. I have kept an
eye on downtown and Steamboat road for 23 years, so obviously I know the area,
but alas none of the local individuals give me much credit for that activity.
It is my professional viewpoint that with the local schools out and people on
vacation, the traffic is much lighter in this area at night and even on
weekends. Perhaps, some of us high tech people should redirect out
thinking away from computers for a while toward more energy efficient
transportation. However, the Europeans have been doing that for
quite some time, and they have a number of energy efficient cars for sale on
their markets, that they do not sell here because of EPA and Safety
considerations. Possibly they might think about reinstalling the trolley
cars in Greenwich that they one had running in Greenwich. I
recalling seeing trolley tracks on North Maple Avenue when I first moved into
this area in 1961. At night I have noticed local bus traffic going
east on Railroad Avenue to the Stamford transportation center.
CTTRANSIT Website has
http://www.cttransit.com/content/routesStamford.asp for our local area.
I printed out two copies of the 7 day schedule to have available, and I left
them on top of the Lexmark X1185 printer on the dining table.
Senior and disabled can use their medical cards to get half fare
http://www.cttransit.com/content/senior.asp . However, since
over 75% of the time, I seem to be on a night schedule, the bus is not an
option. Although I have a bike, I am keeping it in reserve in case
we run out of fuel or get very low. It does have a dynamo with
lights, but we do not have a user friendly bike road at night, and I have only
seen one person riding a bike at night around midnight coming from town.
Since a great deal of our traffic in this area is not that familiar with the
local area, it makes it more hazardous for pedestrians and bike riders too.

I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.
I chatted with the MIT observer a number of times at various intervals during my
walk. The MIT observer use to work with the Radio Shack Tandy
computer back in the mid 1970s. I bought one from the Greenwich
Hospital Thrift shop about 10 years ago, but I got rid of it, when I did not
have anywhere to store it. I dropped off the NEC computer by the
Greenwich Avenue trash can by the veterans monument in case anyone needs an old
slow computer that works. I did not drive down by the waterfront,
since it is extra gasoline, and this time of year, there tends to be enough
people down there at night. I stopped by the Greenwich Automotive
Service Center Exxon gasoline station next to the Greenwich Library, and I
chatted with a Greenwich Country Day classmate whom has an older brother that
lives at Mercer Island out in Microsoft territory. I told him they
are probably using Microsoft to lure people out into that part of the country to
get unemployed young people to work at cleaning up the Hannaford Nuclear
reservation in eastern Washington state which would a hazardous job.
I bought $11 of self service premium unleaded gasoline at $3.699 a gallon for
30.4 miles driving this week at 12.6 miles per gallon averaging driving 13 miles
per hour. I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought ten 16 ounce
boxes of Ronzoni vermicelli at .60 a box, four 59 ounce carafes of Simply Orange
orange juice with calcium for $2.50 each, one 1.7 ounce Vanish Drop-in

08/11/06 Friday 7:00 P.M.: I
chatted with a relative. I tried to secure the new carpet in the
kitchen, so it does not slide around, but I think it will still slide around a
bit.
I used the lettuce spinner, and I cleaned about 3 ounces of fresh spinach, and I
spread it around a dinner plate. I then peeled and sliced into
1/16th inch thick slices 1/4th of a seedless English cucumber and spread it over
the spinach. I then opened a 2.75 ounce tin of Beach Cliff sardines
in water, and I drained its liquid on the salad, and then I chopped the sardines
into half inch square chunks, and I spread it around the salad. I
then washed and sliced into 1/16th inch thick slices four medium size
mushrooms, and I spread them around the salad. I then peeled
and diced half of a medium onion, and I spread it around the salad.
I then cut eight 2.5 inch by .75 inch by .25 inch slices of Land-O-Lakes
Monterey Jack cheddar cheese, and I cut those pieces into .75 inch by .5 inch by
.25 inch slices, and I spread them around the salad. I then spread about
1/3rd of a 5 ounce package of Cardini Caesar croutons around the salad.
I then rinsed under cold water, and I spread 5 grape tomatoes over the salad.
I spread 15 medium black pitted California olives over the salad. I
then spread a couple of tablespoons of grated parmesan cheese over the salad.
I then seasoned it with Italian balsamic vinegar and Italian extra virgin olive
oil. I ate it with a glass of iced tea. Earlier today,
the small rube tube inside the toilet tank mechanism had some off its fitting,
so the water would now swirl around in the toilet when one flushes it.
I fixed it by reattaching the small hose. I will now shut down the
primary computer, and I will shower, and I will clean up, and I will go out for
my usual evening stroll. CIO

motherboard for $30 and $12 shipping for $42 total
eBay: Gigabyte GA-7VT600-RZ Socket 462 Motherboard (item 190016928103 end time
Aug-06-06 02:42:16 PDT) arrived in the mail. I put all
four spare motherboards on top of the sideboard in the bedroom with the other
spare computer parts. The Gigabyte motherboard came in Soyo
motherboard box, and it was just the motherboard and no additional parts,
but that is all that I need. It only has two onboard USB ports, but
with my 4 port USB port card and the 2 port USB motherboard adapter, I would
still be able to connect all of my devices if I had to use it. I
threw out a bunch of old shipping boxes and the two Maxtor hard drive boxes and
a Acer CD drive that did not work. I put some file cabinet holders
in the back of the car to give to the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop.
I am also going to give them my Zoom 28,800 fax modem which cost me $150 when I
first got on the internet about 11 years ago. It is EISA not
PCI, but maybe somebody using an old computer could use it. Today
one can get a Sterling PCI 56,000 baud modem from
www.staples.com for $20 with $20 rebate
when they are offered, so it is virtually free except tax.
I boiled a pint of water. I took a .44 ounce package of Stop and Shop
cranberry sugar free gelatin mix and a .44 ounce package of Stop and Shop
raspberry sugar free gelatin mix, and I put their contents in a two quart Pyrex
casserole bowl, and I pour the pint of boiling water on it, and I mixed it all
together. I drained the juice from a 30 ounce can of Stop and Shop
fruit cocktail with pear juice and the juice from a 8 ounce can of Geisha
pineapple slices into a pint measuring cup, and I filled it the rest of the way
up to a pint of liquid with fresh orange juice to make a pint of liquid, and I
poured it in the hot gelatin mixture. I stirred it. I then put
the fruit cocktail in the mixture, and I mixed it. I then took the four
Geisha pineapple slices, and I spread them around on top of the gelatin mixture
evenly, so they are on top or slightly submerged. I then put the lid
on the Pyrex casserole bowl, and I put it in the refrigerator. In
four hours, I should have a gelatin fruit cocktail. I figure it
costs me 25 cents a mile in gasoline to drive my car. So when I go
downtown, and walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and then drive down
by the waterfront and then return home, it is 7 miles or $1.75 plus .25 a half
hour for parking, so a daytime trip can cost $2.75, if one parks for two hours.
I can drive from my current location on Vinci Drive off West Putnam Avenue to
the Greenwich Library for about a 2 mile round trip of 50 cents, and there is
not parking charge at the Greenwich Library. However, I would not
get my exercise walk. I normally do not walk West Putnam Avenue,
because it is too noisy. I also think it has too much traffic to
ride my bicycle in the daytime, and it is probably dangerous at night.
Still I have those options opened to me as the price of gasoline goes up in
price, and there is less traffic. CIO

There is a discarded air conditioner in the dumpster, but I am not sure whether
it works or not. A tenant's apartment was vacated recently, so it
might still work. I do not need it. There was also a 10 foot
by about 42 inch off white Berber carpet remnant rolled up in the dumpster.
I brought it up, and I folded it in half, so it is about 5 feet by 43 inches.
I took out the area rug from the kitchen, and I put it perpendicular to area rug
underneath the living room brass and glass coffee table, and although they
are different colors, they are the same type and pattern. The one I
put in also matches the down sofa. I put the remnant in the kitchen,
and it blends in well with the existing Berber carpet that was underneath the
area rug, and it fit just right, so it should not slide around, when one walks
on it. I exchange the pink and green area rug in the kitchen walk in
area, and I put it in front of the telephone table chair, and I move the lighter
pattern carpet into the kitchen walk in area, where it matches better.
Thus I have improved the overall appearance of the apartment at no expense.
I think the remnant that I put in the kitchen might be new or hardly used.

. The CPU cooler
actually came on this past Friday. It seems to be a very nice
motherboard, and it will be a useful spare motherboard as the newer hardware
comes out in the future, and the older parts are harder to find. I
intent to maintain my current systems, and it will be harder to fine spare parts
for them as they get older. It is similar to the
GIGABYTE - Motherboard -
Products 7VT600P-RZ that I am currently using, and I also have a
spare used Gigabyte 7VT600-RZ motherboard coming, which is the same, but it does
not have the SATA hard drive connectors, which I do not use anyway.
Thus I have two spare motherboards for each of my primary and server computers
for 4 total. If for some reason I do not need them in the future, I
can always sell them on
www.ebay.com .
However, as I said they are hard to find, and in the future they will be even
harder to find, when the more powerful systems are only available.
Also as I have said before, there is no point in using a 64 bit processor with
64 bit Windows, since not may 64 bit programs are available, and it would only
lead to additional expenses. CIO

Happy 18th birthday to a relative. I woke up at 8:30 A.M. this
morning.
I ate breakfast of oatmeal with a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with
olive oil, orange juice with vitamins and supplements, and coffee. I
washed the breakfast dishes. I made my bed. I went outside to
throw out some garbage. I found a discarded Dell L800R computer in
the dumpster, and I retrieved it. I put some memory in it, but it
did not work. I salvaged some parts from it. I took out its Intel
PIII 800 MHz processor that might work, and I put it with the AMD Duron 1.6 MHz
processor in the postal box on the sideboard in the bedroom. I took out
its Dell floppy drive, and I put it by the white bureau in the bedroom. I
took out its IDE and floppy cables, and I put them in the bottom left living
room desk drawer. I put its CPU cooler in the bottom right night
stand in the bedroom. I took out the broken CD drive from the Dell
V350 backup computer in the bedroom, and I put in the CD drive from the broken
Dell L800R. I also put in the Maxtor 10 gigabyte hard drive as a
second hard drive. I threw out the rest of the Dell L800R broken
computer and the broken CD drive. I did a backup from the first hard
drive to the second hard drive on the D350V computer, and then I optimized its
C: drive, so it is a little bit better running. All of my computer
information is at

are finding themselves at home more with the higher prices of fuel are spending
more time on whatever they normally do at home when they are not normally
cruising around. In Europe where gasoline has been over $9 a gallon
for many years, they frequently take naps in the afternoon, and they go out for
walks in the evening. However, I generally prefer to take my walks
when I first wake up, when I am less tired so as to get my system running
faster. At the end of the day, I just do my normal computer

08/07/06 Monday 1:00 P.M.: I emailed
some friends about a family matter. Since in the rather severe sun
light in my apartment I am worried that the British Union Jack in the hallway is
getting too much sunlight and will fade in the rather extreme summer sunlight
conditions in my apartment, I moved the large U.S.A. flag back in front of it to
protect it from fading. Thus currently in the bedroom hallway
showing is the United States of America flag and the United States Air Force
flag, but I am still displaying the smaller British Union Jack flag with old
smaller U.S.A. 48 star flag along with the other smaller flags on the Danish
bar. I hope the British are not offended, but I always change the
colors depending on the season, and more than likely the British are on Holiday
in the United Kingdom anyway. The Queen Mary II does not come back
to Manhattan until Thursday August 17, 2006
QM2 - Itinerary - 2006 , at
which time we might have to exchange it back to the British Union Jack.
I have a feeling the local United States of America authorities are probably
getting irritated with me for trying to be diplomatic with the British, but the
only friend that seems to chat with me occasionally anymore claims his family
got started working in America working for Queen Victoria, so from what I can
tell, although the British speak English, they do not know how to communicate in
terms of modern communications. CIO

I ate breakfast of oatmeal with a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with

washed the breakfast dishes. I made my bed. I went outside, and I
chatted with a fellow cigarette smoker. I noticed a town of
Greenwich tree truck came into our front parking area, but they did not inspect
the rear skating rink parking area for the tree storm damage. They
were pulling a chipper behind the truck. I checked my fuse box
underneath the hood of the Volvo, and the repair I made seems to have worked,
and one can latch the fuse box closed without using the duct tape.
The front passenger side head lamp washer blade sprayer attachment seems to be
held in place also. I chatted with a relative. I
showered, and I cleaned up. I went outside, and I chatted with a
neighbor and the building custodian. Well, the start of another busy
work week seems to be in progress, and since my primary activity is working on
the computers, I will continue that activity. CIO

chatted with a relative and a couple of friends. I will now shut

microwave a 7 ounce Banquet chicken pot pie, and I will eat it with a glass of

the local people here are away on vacation. CIO

08/06/06 Sunday 7:35 P.M.: Having
observed the old stone wharf pier on Steamboat Road for 22 years on a daily
basis this time around in Greenwich including living on Steamboat Road for the
first 5.5 years I was back in Greenwich, my favorite fisherman whom one does not
see too much comes down from Bedford, New York in a four wheel drive sports
utility vehicle with a "NRA" National Rifle Association sticker on his car, and
since he is a United States Government Federal judge people tend not to bother
him, and when he is out there, most everyone else steers away. Alas
Federal Judges have more important duties to perform besides keeping an eye out
on wharf rats. Rudy's tackle shop in Byram is constantly sending day
tripping fishermen out there, when the fishing is actually not that good on
Steamboat Road particularly at low tide, and from what I know it is actually
better in the Byram river along its shore, but the locals in Byram where Rudy's
tackle shop is located do not like seeing people from outside their neighborhood
fishing in their area. CIO
Note:<888>
08/06/06 Sunday 6:55 P.M.: I
went outside, and I used a part of a tube of CVS super glue gel to fix the
passenger side headlight washer where it broke off the washer arm, so hopefully
it will stay in place now. I did not use a Arnold bread tab splint
to make it more secure, since the color black of the windshield washer arm would
not match with a blue Arnold bread tab. Underneath the hood where the fuse
box cover is, I had secured it down with duct tape, since it plastic latch had
broken last winter. I bent back the metal pressure tab to release
the pressure on the broken latch, and I used the CVS super glue gel to reattach
the broken latch, and I reinforced it by gluing a white Arnold bread tab cut to
size on its inside of the latch, and I did not try clamping it shut yet, since I
want to give it time to firmly set. All of these minor maintenance
details which get much more complex with all of the computer maintenance is what
I call Mickey Mouse maintenance. I would have gotten a lot more of
them done earlier in the year, but for about the first six months of this year,
I constantly had problems with computer hackers which took a lot of my free time
that I could have used for other more productive activities not to mention a bit
of free recreational time. Thus it is my viewpoint that hackers are
an unwelcome group in the internet community, since they tend to waste people's
time, since most people have other activates to do besides working on the
computers. CIO

08/06/06 Sunday 5:50 P.M.: I
chatted with a relative. I went outside, and I chatted with some
neighbors. I walked around the building, and I inspected the storm
damage in the back yard by the playground and along the rear steps.
About a half dozen trees were taken down along with a utility light fixture by
the rear parking area which is still laying on the ground unrepaired. It
looks like one tree was removed, and the rest still need to be tended to.
One large limb on the tree by the steps came off ripping off the a large portion
of the trunk, so it is hard to tell whether that tree will survive or not.
Needless to say the town of Greenwich tree department will have a bit of extra
fire wood this winter. I had a message from the same relative, when
I returned. CIO

I used the lettuce spinner, and I cleaned about 3 ounces of fresh spinach, and I
spread it around a dinner plate. I then peeled and sliced into

I then rinsed under cold water, and I spread 11 grape tomatoes over the salad.
I spread 15 medium black pitted California olives over the salad. I
then spread a couple of tablespoons of grated parmesan cheese over the salad.
I then seasoned it with Italian balsamic vinegar and Italian extra virgin olive
oil. I ate it with a glass of iced tea. I chatted with a
relative whom has moved to the Silicone Valley area in California, so perhaps my
relative will become more high tech. I also chatted with
somebody outside Starbucks today, and they told me you are no long allowed to
smoke cigarettes outside in Palo Alto, California. I mentioned when
I went to California a number of times between 1978 and 1980, I felt a lot of
Howard Hughes' people were around me. I also mentioned that Howard
Hughes seems to have gotten to every place first being a pioneer in aviation.
Probably the reason we have not run out of gasoline in this area if you can

American Flags, Bunting, Flag Garland, Pulldowns, and Pleated Fans regularly
$48.90 for $15 and .90 tax for $15.90 total. I explained to them
from my perspective, I have lived around the United States Air Force or aviation
most of my life. I completed my walk, and I used the bathroom at
Starbucks. I then drove down by the waterfront, and it was full of
waterfront rats. I then went by the Food Emporium, and I bought a
gallon of America's Choice white vinegar for $1.99, a 15 ounce bottle of
The World of Kikkoman soy sauce for $2.59,
and a fresh bananas at .69 a pound for $1.53 for $6.11 total. I
found a Mercedes Benz
Mercedes-Benz International key on the grocery store floor, and I tracked
down the client that lost it. I then returned home.
I hung the United States Air Force flag in front of the left hallway bookcase in
front of the Netherlands flag, and that in front of the Saudi Arabian flag, and
that in front of the Swedish flag. Thus those four flags can be
rotated depending on the local political situation. I still have the
British Union Jack flying in front of the United States of America flag in front
of the right hallway bookcase. Earlier in the week, I moved the
small state of Florida flag from the Danish bar area to in front of the server
computer on top center of the two monitors. Also before I went out, I
moved the honey bee lamp in the bathroom from on top of the Panasonic 14 inch
television to on top of the small side table in front of the toilet, and I also
put a new 3.5 ounce CVS Clorox toilet tablet in the toilet tank. For
some reason, the CVS toilet tablets do not seem to dissolve completely in the
Greenwich water, and after a while they start to float and sink down into the
tank mechanism, so in the future I will buy the Stop and Shop blue borax tables.

washed the breakfast dishes. I called up, and I chatted with
Microsoft Security at 1-425-882-8080. I did a Microsoft Windows XP
Automatic System Recovery backup of the primary computer from the C: drive first
hard drive to the D: drive second
hard drive. I washed the breakfast dishes. I will now
make my bed, and then I will do a little bit of regular computer work.

08/04/06 Friday 7:35 P.M.:
www.ups.com delivered the package after the
last message. I chatted with some neighbors. I threw out
the package wrapping, and I will not open up the package the union suit came in
until later on this winter, since I plan to be here, despite the presence of our
southern visitors. I chatted with some neighbors. I
checked my car oil. I filled up the windshield washer container.
Everything looks all right underneath the hood. I was asked it the
1995 Volvo 850 Turbo station wagon is front wheel drive or rear wheel drive.
I do not know since there is hump in the middle like there is a drive shaft for
rear wheel drive, but the engine is mounted like it is a front wheel drive car.
I chatted with a relative and two friends. From what I can tell,
currently Greenwich, Connecticut is a
www.exxon.com company town heaven if you get my drift. However,
most of the traffic seems to be passing us up for points further northeast, and
it is not busy downtown, and once the weekend vacation traffic exits New York
City, it does not seem that busy here. Of course some of our
neighboring towns might be busier. I will now eat a bowl of the
gelatin fruit mixture with a glass of ice tea, and I will go to bed.
I will now shut down the primary computer. CIO

08/04/06 Friday 4:35 P.M.: I
finished my house cleaning. I threw out the old periodical
literature, old computer magazines, and old newspapers. I chatted
with a neighbor. I used the lettuce spinner, and I cleaned about 3
ounces of fresh spinach, and I spread it around a dinner plate. I
then peeled and sliced into 1/16th inch thick slices 1/4th of a seedless English
cucumber and spread it over the spinach. I then opened a 6 ounce can
of solid white albacore tuna fish, and I left its lid on, and I rinsed it
underneath cold water. I then flaked the tuna fish in a bowl, and I
spread it around the salad. I then washed and sliced into 1/16th inch
thick slices three medium size mushrooms, and I spread them around the
salad. I then peeled and diced half of a medium onion, and I spread
it around the salad. I then cut eight 2.5 inch by .75 inch by .25
inch slices of Land-O-Lakes Monterey Jack cheddar cheese, and I cut those pieces
into .75 inch by .5 inch by .25 inch slices, and I spread them around the salad.
I then spread about 1/4th of a 5 ounce package of Cardini Caesar croutons around
the salad. I then rinsed under cold water, and I spread 10 grape
tomatoes over the salad. I spread 15 medium black pitted California
olives over the salad. I then spread a couple of tablespoons of
grated parmesan cheese over the salad. I then seasoned it with
Italian balsamic vinegar and Italian extra virgin olive oil. I ate
it with a glass of iced tea. I then showered, and I cleaned up.
I glued back together a little drawer from the Chinese mirror drawer set in the
bedroom with Elmer's glue. I then went outside, and I checked my
front windshield wipers, and they looked like they needed to be replaced.
I went to Gateway Auto Supply at 154 Prospect Street here in Greenwich, and I
bought a 21 inch replacement set of two of Anco windshield wiper blades.
The regular service counter attendant installed them in my windshield wiper
blade sets, and I put them back on the Volvo, putting the one with air foil on
it in front of the driver's side. I was charged $7 for the purchase
and installing them in my existing windshield wiper holders. I then
sat out for about a half hour at Grass Island. They have painted
metal rail around the park, and they have a nice new bench there by the vent for
the sewer plant. I found a Stanley Utility knife that I put in the
back rear right side of my Volvo wagon underneath the rubber floor mat.
I then drove down by the waterfront on Steamboat Road. I then went
by CVS, and I picked up a prescription. I also bought a 1 liter bottle of
CVS Professional Oral Rinse alcohol free mouth wash for $2.99, a 16 ounce jar of
CVS dry roasted peanuts for $1.99, and a package of two gram tubes of CVS Super
Glue Gel for $1.97 plus .30 tax for $7.25 total. I then sat outside
downtown for about a half hour. I used the bathroom at the senior
and the arts center. I chatted with the hotdog truck vendor. I
then drove over to the Old Greenwich Mobil car wash, and I got the Volvo washed
with the Express Car wash for $5.99. I then towel dried the small
amount of remaining moisture. I also shook out the driver's side
floor mats. I then drove out to Tod's Point, and I sat out for about
a half hour at the southwest parking area. I used the bathroom at
that location. I studied the clouds. I then sat out for
a while at the southeast picnic area. Since they were anticipating
rain which never arrived, there were not many people at the beach. I
then went by the Old Greenwich Porricelli's Food Mart, and I bought two 8 ounce
package boxes of Alba Instant Non-Fat Dry Milk from cows not treated with rBST
fortified with Vitamins A and D for $7.99 each box of eight packages, and a two
liter can of Sclafani extra virgin olive oil for $17.99 for $33.97 total.
I then went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop, and their books are half
price. I then went by the Greenwich Automotive Service Station Exxon
gasoline station dealer next to the Greenwich Library, and I bought $24.50 of
premium unleaded self service gasoline at $3.699 a gallon for 98.7 miles driving
since July 19, 2006 for 14.2 miles per gallon averaging driving 13 miler per
hour miles locally. I then returned home, and I chatted with some
neighbors. My order of 7 cartons of New York Seneca Ultra Lights
100s arrived from
www.ordersmokesdirect.com . My

suppose to rain on Friday breaking the heat spell, so I will wait for it to
rain. There is a lot more jet traffic, so possibly lots of people
are escaping the hurricane threat down in the Gulf of Mexico area
National Hurricane Center /
Tropical Prediction Center , so we might be busy with hurricane refugees
whom have flown out of the threatened areas. More that likely Tropical
Storm Chris will pick up steam when it heads into the warmer waters of the
Florida straits and the Gulf of Mexico. If any oil platforms are disturbed
that could cause the price of gasoline and energy to rise even higher.
Of course this is only the first major storm of the season, it could be worse
later on in the season. I saw a white heron fly over the building today,
and this evening there was an eagle flying over the building, so the birds are
in our area. Birds frequently have more common sense about the

people whom watch too much television from half way around the world.

cocktail in the mixture, and I mixed it. I then took the four Geisha

08/01/06 Tuesday 3:55 A.M.: I
finished going through my email. I put four Gorton's
Gorton's of Gloucester - Welcome 7.6 ounce
total of crispy frozen haddock filets on a cookie sheet, and I baked them in the
Farberware Convection oven for 8 minutes a side. The power strip for the
Farberware convection oven went off, and I push its reset switch on the power
strip behind the television in the kitchen. While doing that I put
an inch of water in a Revere pot with steaming tray and lid, and I brought it to
a boil, and I put half of a 16 ounce package of Stop and Shop frozen snow pea
medley of vegetables to steam on medium electric burner heat for 6 minutes
having both get done at the same time. I also mixed a third of a cup
of Heinz ketchup with two tablespoons of Gold's horseradish, and I put the sauce
on the haddock filets on a dinner plate, and I put the vegetables in a bowl with
a little bit of olive oil. I ate it all with a glass of iced tea.
It is currently 76 degrees Fahrenheit outside, so I could walk downtown for a
little bit of exercise, but at age 56 one frequently has to go the bathroom when
one least expects it, and besides the Glory Days diner and the Shell gasoline
station on West Putnam Avenue, there are really no places to go to the bathroom,
so I think I would be more comfortable staying at home. On Saturday
morning, I barely made it home in time to go number 2. Also the
California medley of frozen vegetables was a bit old with frost burn, so they
might cause a bit of indigestion in a while. While cooking the
dinner, I also ate a few handfuls of lightly salted dry roasted peanuts.

08/01/06 Tuesday 2:10 A.M.: I
did some regular computer work. I printed out two copies of my
Microsoft Money 2006 monthly expense report for July 2006, and I put one copy in
a envelope, and I mailed it in the mail room downstairs to a relative.
I checked the outside parking lot, and it seems quiet. I will now go
through my email. I have a UPS Delivery today on my
order from
Bargain Barn at Sierra Trading Post and
Sunglasses
(Bargain Barn) at Sierra Trading Post - Save 35-70% on Famous Name Brands ,
that I ordered
Version Optics '04 LCA Sunglasses - Save 73% in (40) black / copper fade w/
yellow lens for $19.95 and .20 shipping for $20.15 total is
UPS Package Tracking
. The new catalytic converter for my 1995 Volvo 850 Turbo station
wagon is suppose to arrive today at the Greenwich Automotive Services Exxon
station today, so hopefully it will be ready later on this afternoon.
Since it is suppose to be in the mid 90s degrees Fahrenheit for the next few
days, we might how power brown outs, so one should be prepared. I
have been saving the 59 ounce clear plastic orange juice containers and putting
water in them, so since I have room currently in the refrigerator, I put eight
of them full of water in the refrigerator to have some extra chilled water in an
extensive brown out. Of course this time of year, a lot of people
are away, so hopefully the peak load usage of electricity during the heat of the
day might be less. I am obviously saving electricity by using it at night,
when there is not as much demand. CIO

08/01/06 Tuesday 12:25 A.M.: I
chatted with some neighbors after the last message. I then rested a
while, and then I worked on the computer until noon. I then went to
bed. At 1:15 P.M. a neighbor rang the door bell, and the neighbor
wanted to know if I had seen her Mac Gray laundry card. I had not.
I went back to bed until 9:15 P.M..
I ate breakfast of oatmeal, a toasted English muffin with olive oil, orange
juice with vitamins and supplements, and coffee. I went outside, and
I threw out the garbage. I picked up my mail. I chatted
with a neighbor. I washed the breakfast dishes, and I made my bed.
I showered, and I cleaned up. I will not be walking downtown, since
it is too hot out. I turned the General Electric Profile 15,500 BTU
air conditioner with remote control down to 70 degrees Fahrenheit, so it will
cool off the apartment. It suppose to be in the mid 90 degrees
Fahrenheit the next few days. I will now do some regular computer
work. CIO
