That branch is closing February 28, 2014. I stopped by CVS, and I toured the store, and I used the bathroom. I sat out for a while after my walk. I then drove by CVS again, and I bought six 12 packs of Schweppes Ginger Ale for $22 and $3.60 can deposit and $1.14 tax less a $4 off $20 CVS coupon for $22.74 total. In letting my retired neighbor use one of my guest computers to fill out job applications, I found out that it take four hours to fill out the Stop and Shop job application here http://www.stopandshop.com/about_us/employment.htm?careers=1 and six hours to fill out the CVS application here http://jobs.cvscaremark.com/articles/retail-jobs including a lot of lengthy surveys which do not make much sense. <888> 01/30/14 Thursday 3:55 A.M. They did not know what I was talking about, but they told me they have newer machines. The new hospital in Innsbruck, Austria in 1989 also had the same machine. I have never seen it anywhere else. When one is around the ocean at the beach for a long time, one gets a build up of sand, salt and wax in one's inner ear which can lead to temporary deafness unless treated. However, if one were subject to loud music, it is sort of nice to be selectively deaf. I currently every six months use about 20 drops of Debrox in each ear for 5 minutes holding my head sideways to keep the drops in , and then I wash out the ear with hot water with a hot water plastic ear ball that sprays the hot water into the ear. I think CVS has a kit that comes with Debrox or their generic version with the ear water ball. CIO

When I spent many years down around the pier on Steamboat Road, besides a number of veterans down there regularly, there were two marksman that showed up down there. One was an Elk Hunter from Harrison, New York with a NRA sticker on his vehicle, and he wore those black sunglasses like one wears after cataract surgery. On Holidays, there was also a Federal Judge from Bedford, New York with a NRA sticker on his vehicle. Whether either of them was the shooter at me is probably doubtful, since I do not think one can shoot that far to Tod's Point. However, as we all got older and had to work more at home, and 911 happened we put our disco lives into the background. <888> 01/27/14 Monday 4:45 A.M. I drank a 12 ounce glass of www.coke.com . Here in the Western Hemisphere in America, there are not that many Europeans that live here in exile anymore. I guess Europe has become so prosperous, they have all returned to the Eastern Hemisphere. They also do not seem to like to communicate with people over here anymore. I guess they seem to think they know it all. It is not like after World War II, when they needed our help. I manage to get along over here, but most people seem to think I am a first generation immigrant from Europe despite my extensive American back ground. The Europeans whom are here seem to work around me based on their reality as to how they perceive this area. I guess they are all looking for their European cousins to show up sooner or later. My father lived in Europe for a long time, so I was used to meeting and greeting with Europeans. However, now that I live more simply and am only able to sit out on a bench on Greenwich Avenue watching them come and go passing me by, I guess they are not use to seeing me out so much in public. However, as I have started to get older and the weather is much colder, I am enjoying spending more quiet time at home which is less stressful and more relaxing. To be constantly in the public eye is somewhat of a burden for myself and some of my more private friends that I have long since lost track of. I guess from what I know the only people whom are changing things in this area are the nearby residents of Manhattan whom visit on weekends and summer holidays. Whether they are here during the colder winter weather is opened to debate. CIO

End of Scott's Notes week of 01/26/14
<888> 01/26/14 Sunday 6:20 A.M. On a minor note, my father Louis Dale Scott died in 1989 at a relatively young age from many years of hard work. If he were alive, today would be his 95th birthday. I will now send out my weekly notes. I will then shut down the primary work computer. I will then eat a Greek yogurt. I will then go to bed. CIO
<888> 01/26/14 Sunday 6:20 A.M. Since in the period from 1973 to 1982, when I was around Manhattan, I spent a lot of time walking around Manhattan, I know my way around Manhattan from the old days. I also spent a lot of time walking around http://www.metmuseum.org/ keeping an eye on the art work. However, back then one was allowed to smoke cigarettes in the Engelhard Court which I did frequently and Tuesday nights a roast beef dinner with Yorkshire Pudding and beverage and trimmings cost $6.95 at the cafeteria, which was expensive, but it gave one a little bit of extra energy. Also when the tiny skinny fashion people took over Manhattan, they did not think people need to eat food and they also basically tried to run people into the ground for their own fun and profit. I still have a little bit of influence in the art world, and as a cleaver art detective I will now prove it. From this report http://www.greenwichct.org/upload/medialibrary/9c9/US_Secret_Service_Flyer.pdf , it mentions there are little 77 numbers on the back right side of the counterfeit hundred dollars bills, so what could 77 stand for. Well if one looks at the Aga Khan's 77th birthday web site http://www.amaana.org/agakhan/bd13.htm , he is now trying to sell cars, so either some of his people are pulling a joke or he ran out of money or like all wealthy people in his old age after years of extravagance, he is getting more frugal. For all I know we actually are in a Potemkin City which Greenwich, Connecticut is suppose to be, so instead of Greenwich, Connecticut USA, we are not in Greenwich, India which would not be this cold, but maybe Greenwich, Russia which would be cold, but on Bloomberg News, they advertise Mongolia all of the time, and since Gingus Khan came from Mongolia, the Aga Khan might still be in charge in Greenwich, Mongolia. CIO

<888> 01/26/14 Sunday 3:45 A.M. Now that I have your attention, I have a theory why it is getting colder here than normal. We have all read that every few hundred thousands years the earth flips on its axis. What if it does that but more slowly and not necessarily a 180 degree flip, but if it were a sideways more diagonal flip, it might explain the current weather conditions. Obviously if this were the case, a more advanced scientific group would already know it and be adjusting their new geopolitical portfolio to the new weather conditions. It is beginning to look like New England might be where Greenland once was in the future and since Europe is going downwards southerly, it might actually be warmer there. That is all I can figure out. I do know it is a 105 degrees Fahrenheit in southern Australia which seems a bit high, so maybe southern Australia is moving further northwards. CIO
<888> 01/26/14 Sunday 3:20 A.M. No News from Europe. I guess Europeans rest on weekends. CIO
<888> 01/26/14 Sunday 3:00 A.M. During World War II, it was the Nazi Zimmerman plan to invade the United States of America through Mexico. It is my viewpoint that when the Nazis lost, they built up a large force of Germans in Mexico over half a century, so all of these new Latino Mexicans showing up in this area are actually the avant guard of a larger German group which might try to come over here sooner or later. Of course the area seems to be getting better, but none of the "Old Guard" seem to be in charge anymore, so basically it seems like we have already lost before World War III has even begun. CIO
<888> 01/26/14 Sunday 2:20 A.M. I called up the Military Police at West Point at 1-845-938-3333 http://apps.militaryonesource.mil/MOS/f?p=MI:CONTENT:0::::P4_INST_ID,P4_CONTENT_DIRECTORY,P4_TAB:3745,ALL,IC , and I reminded them of the sniper incident at Tod's Point at the southwest picnic area during the last Thursday of the last week of May about 13 years ago. A local scuba diver I chatted with the area since then told me it could have been a Navy Seal. Today an Army Vet told me there are indeed Navy Seals in the area. Since I normally would not have been out there at that time of year, it was perhaps a case of mistaken identity for someone else they expected out there, since a florescent orange target marker was set up at the base of the tree where I was shot at. Beside replacing the bullet holes in the "No Clamming" signs, no investigation or interview was ever done. In other words it was either a cover up, or nobody believed me, although there were many witnesses. At the time JFK Jr. was a regular jogger out there, and George W. Bush appeared on television from Kennebunkport, Maine; so he could have been working his way north for the season while campaigning. The Bush family used to like playing horse shoes at Tod's Point. Whatever the case, there were lot of cars on the highway with people from down south going north for the season. Also at the end May, they have graduation at West Point, so a lot of military people converge onto this area from around the world. I even new Robert E. Lee's great grandson when he lived in Greenwich, and he had attended West Point, and he used to guard Mrs. Godfrey Rockefeller when she volunteered at the Merry Go Round Mews Thrift shop when it was there on Arch Street. One local waterfront neighbor told me it was just the local lobstermen fighting over lobster rights which sounds like a lot of baloney. Another friend told me it was Duck Hunters. At the time there were no boats are planes or helicopters or land base within shooting range, so it could have been a Navy Seal hidden in the water. If it were from a land base, it would have been a long shot, and my family just happened to be friends with somebody whom use to live at the nearest land base whom also worked at CBS at one time. Even if a bullet could carry over 2 miles at that distance the earth curves, so basically one would be firing into the ground or water. I did call up Donald Trump at the time, and I told him, and the following week he sold his house on the waterfront in Greenwich. CIO
<888> 01/26/14 Sunday 12:45 A.M. I threw out the garbage. I cleaned a couple of inches of powdered snow off the Volvo wagon. I picked up the mail. CIO
<888> 01/25/14 Saturday 11:20 P.M. I ate a 19 ounce Stouffer's meat lasagna with grated parmesan and Romano cheese and a 12 ounce glass of www.coke.com . Greenwich, Connecticut is mostly a hometown for the temporary rich. Once they finish for owning and maintaining an expensive house in Greenwich, Connecticut; they usually go back to being middle class of less. The local residents are always looking to enhance their fortunes by befriending other established residents of substance. Whether any of them succeed in the long run is opened for debate. If you ever chatted with some of those old thread worn pensioners nursing one cocktail all night long in one of those common beer and burger joints on the upper east side of Manhattan, they could probably tell you some stories about the so called rich and famous, but you might have to buy them another cocktail or two. I will now shower and clean up. CIO
<888> 01/25/14 Saturday 10:05 P.M. I chatted with an Irish friend who is one of my eyes and ears in Manhattan, and he did not tell me much that I did not already know. I chatted with a relative twice. I watched the program on Cspan TV with the Barbara Bush interview about her years in the White House. She said it is very cheap to live there. Of course, when I knew Helen Kress Williams, she would make on A&P tea bag last a week, and then she would use them in her garden for fertilizer. Of course some of us are so busy, we are not always able to economize as best we can. When I slept on a bed made of two by fours in the basement of the Grennon guest house in Nantucket on Hussey Street for $40 a week, I was earning $8.75 an hour as the head dishwasher at their restaurant working up to 80 hours a week, but I was not able to save much money, since everything else was very expensive like roast beef sandwiches at the A&P for $8, so when I left the island unemployed, I would quickly become destitute and homeless. I do much better here in Greenwich, Connecticut accepting my disability and not trying to change the world on limited income based on my experience. CIO
<888> 01/25/14 Saturday 8:15 P.M. If you have wampum, you can search for people here http://www.peoplesmart.com/ .
I chatted with a Dutch friend who like myself does not seem to know too many other Dutch people in this area. Maybe all of the Dutch people left in America should move back to the Netherlands where people might be more friendly. Recently a local Swedish business person from Ohio gave me the Hail Hitler salute on Greenwich Avenue, so I guess the Dutch American as they are perceived have a public relations problem in this area, since the Dutch also can have the same look as Germans or German Americans. Being Dutch and Scottish, I tend to worry more about the British, since the British are well known for fighting the Dutch and the Scottish. However, as a minor point of dispute my Grandma Scott's Gard family are from Devonshire, England; so I am also part English, so there is no point in fighting my own people. However the Gard family name besides being English can also be Swedish or French. Just because fat people wear suspenders does not mean they are German, it means they have no waist line to hold up their pants, so they have to wear suspenders or braces. CIO
<888> 01/25/14 Saturday 5:15 P.M. I ate breakfast of oatmeal with honey and milk, a toasted English muffin with olive oil, a 12 ounce glass of 50% punch and 50% cold filtered water and vitamins and supplements, and a cup of coffee with milk and Splenda sweetener. I used four forever stamps to mail two copies of the Frank Sinatra CD to a relative. I mailed it in the mail room downstairs. CIO
<888> 01/25/14 Saturday 7:55 A.M. I burned four copies of the Frank Sinatra CD. I also copied it to a pin drive, and I put it on the IBM ThinkCentre along side the Ethan Allen recliner. I put one copy in the Sony 300 CD Disk Player as CD number 48. I have not used the Sony 300 CD player in about a year and a half, and the door would not open on it. I disconnected it, and I fiddled with it, and I finally got the door to open. Five Brahms CDs had come out of the carrousel, but I was able to get the door opened, and I put them back in the carrousel, so the Sony 300 CD player now works just fine. One has to have CD set on the Technics amplifier for it to work. I also copied my music files from the primary work computer to the Nokia 520 16GB micro SD card, but not all of the music files show up on the Nokia 520, but enough for now do show up. I suppose it has to do with the way the phone recognizes the file structure. CIO
<888> 01/25/14 Saturday 5:30 A.M. I bought and downloaded 100 Frank Sinatra Songs $3.99 and 4 cents tax for $4.03 total for over five hours of Frank. I drank a 12 ounce glass of www.coke.com . CIO

I then went downtown, and I cleaned off the snow from the benches downtown in front of the Senior and the Arts center, and the veterans monument across the street and the old post office plaza. I chatted with a regular at Starbucks. I returned home, and I picked up the mail. I put away my groceries. CIO
<888> 01/24/14 Friday 7:30 P.M. I chatted with a relative. I will now shower and clean up. I will then go out in the frigid Siberian weather of Greenwich, Connecticut. In my apartment hallway, I put up the Swedish and Scottish flags which are the two coldest largest flags I have besides the small Norwegian flag. A friend told me, one can fly round trip to Barbados for $450 and rent a house on the beach in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bequia for $250 a week, but with the cold weather up north, it might be busy in the Caribbean, so maybe one should keep on going to Sao Paulo, Brazil and look up Tony Pigato. Of course one would have to have the right honey and cream to go in the coffee too. Ed Powers, Fred's houseman might still be in the neighborhood, so maybe he would know more about the old time Bloomsbury salon at 420 East 49th street. Alas the fresh croissants from the Air France Concorde delivered from Paris are no longer available at the bakery at second avenue and 49th street on the southeast corner. <888> 01/24/14 Friday 4:50 A.M. I drank a 12 ounce glass of www.coke.com . The Scott family has had a long relationship with Coca Cola from what I know. In my generation, when I lived down south, it was a very popular soft drink, until we moved to Pepsi territory. At the First Presbyterian Church in Decatur, Alabama, one of my volunteer jobs after Sunday school was giving away soft drinks from the cooler. We had Coke, Orange Soda, and Lemon soda. I used to enjoy mixing them together for other flavors. When I got older, I had to go to church with the adults, so I no longer was able to hang out with the kids giving away soda pop. Up north in Boston, they call soda pop "Tonic". I guess Coke is a popular brand name world wide, but I started drinking less of it, when I was told it was good for removing rust from chrome automobile bumpers. Coke poured over a scoop or two of ice cream in a glass is called a "Float". Most people do not know the drink comes from Georgia which is some place they have never heard of, and probably will not visit. However, it is warmer there sometimes. Also if one is driving down south to Florida from up north, one usually has to drive through Georgia where there are a lot of paper mills also. South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, and Texas all have gators. Living up north all of these years, I still remember warmer winters down south, but I find the colder weather more stimulating, but of course with the warmer weather down south, one is not trapped inside for a long periods in the winter. it says that I once lived in East Hampton, Long Island and San Diego, California which is not correct. When I built the garage apartment out in Plandome Manor, Long Island in 1982, one of the grandsons was visiting Byram frequently, since he had a girl friend here, and he later became a chef in the Hamptons after going to Johnson and Wales college, but when I lost my complete set of identification in August 1980 along with traveling money, it could have been him. Also Fred Von Mierers knew a air traffic controller in the Hamptons or Montauk. Also around 1968, I drove out to East Hampton with Myles McGough to visit a girl friend of his who was Kingman Brewster's daughter associated with www.yale.edu . However, I do not have any San Diego connections other than driving through it. I once visited the Hotel Coronado there. Also in the summer of 1973, I visited South Hampton twice. Also when I was out in Port Washington, Long Island between 1979 and 1980, I visited the Hamptons once. We really should have two in the family house in Maine, since Carbon Monoxide is a heavy gas and could sink down into the basement around the furnace and not be detected upstairs. Hopefully the one in my apartment will not be set off by my frequent intestinal gas leaks or farts. <888> 01/21/14 Tuesday 8:40 P.M. Greenwich Snow Emergency Message:
This is an important message for all Greenwich residents
from the Greenwich Police Department. As many of you know, significant snowfall
is forecast for this evening through early Wednesday. In anticipation, the Town
of Greenwich Board of Selectmen has unanimously voted to declare a Snow
Emergency effective at 6:00 pm today, January 21st, 2014. The Snow Emergency
will remain in effect until cancelled.
During the period of the Snow Emergency no vehicles are permitted to remain
parked, stopped or standing on any Snow Emergency streets. Vehicles in
violation will be subject to ticketing and immediate towing. If you are unsure
if your vehicle is parked on a Snow Emergency street, a full list can be viewed
at the Town of Greenwich website -
www.greenwichct.org. Vehicles displaced from Snow Emergency streets may be
lawfully parked in municipal off-street parking lots until the snow emergency is
over. Your cooperation will ensure that road crews can keep Snow Emergency
streets open for emergency First Responder vehicle traffic.
The Town of Greenwich is fully prepared for the coming snow event. Additional
staffing, as appropriate, has been added to Public Works road crews and by
Greenwich's emergency responder agencies. At this time, the State of
Connecticut is anticipating that this will be a "moderate to major" snow event.
Temperatures are also forecast to be well below freezing overnight and it will
be windy, with gusts to 45 MPH. Sub-zero wind chills are likely to occur
overnight. The most significant snow accumulations are predicted to begin in
our area around 7:00 PM and continue until 4:00 AM tomorrow. Travel on roadways
is predicted to become quite hazardous after 8:00 PM this evening. It is
imperative that everyone exercise additional caution during the storm, limit
travel to only essential trips and dress appropriately for what could be
bitterly cold conditions.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation. Please stay indoors,
stay warm and stay safe.

Message from Canadian Prime Minister:
Statement by the Prime Minister of Canada on National Non-Smoking Week
January 19, 2014
Ottawa, Ontario
Prime Minister Stephen Harper today issued the following statement to mark National Non-Smoking Week, taking place from January 19-25, 2014:
“Each year, smoking takes a deadly toll on Canadians, with thousands succumbing to heart disease, lung cancer and many other illnesses that it causes. In addition to the physical damage caused by smoke and second-hand smoke, smoking also puts emotional and financial stress on families who are dealing with resulting health problems, and places a substantial financial burden on our communities and healthcare system.
“The health of Canadians is a top priority of our Government. This is why, along with provinces, territories, municipalities and other partners, we have taken substantial measures to inform Canadians about the many health risks associated with smoking, to discourage people from starting to smoke and help those who wish to quit.
“In the past five years, our Government has taken significant action to help Canadians stay smoke free. These measures include combating the trafficking and cross-border smuggling of contraband tobacco, restricting access to tobacco products, especially for youth, and prohibiting tobacco advertising in daily newspapers and free entertainment weeklies. We have also introduced new warning labels on cigarette and little cigar packages, which feature a national quitline phone number and web address for those who want to quit.
“During this year's National Non-Smoking Week, we are also launching a five-year tobacco cessation marketing campaign aimed at reducing smoking rates by helping young smokers aged 20-24 quit smoking. The "Break It Off" tobacco cessation campaign will use social media to target young Canadians who have a higher rate of smoking than the national average.
“While the work our Government has undertaken to eliminate smoking is producing encouraging results, there are still too many Canadians who smoke. That is why we will continue to work with stakeholders across the country to help Canadians become and stay smoke-free.
“I wish all Canadians a happy, healthy and smoke-free 2014.”

Since his family helped start the www.un.org , he has kept a presence in the New York area for a long time. It says his grandfather had his own state in India, and by today values, his grandfather was worth $165 billion. Thus if they did not give it all away to charity, more than likely he has other investments in this country. His roommate at www.harvard.edu was Adlai Stevenson III whose father was at the UN and also ran for President. Adlai Stevenson's farm area in Libertville, Illinois is now http://www.mettawa.org/ where www.hsbc.com is headquartered in this country. Thus more than likely somewhere out there in the wood work, he has lawyers, accountants, public relations people, and the other employees that are needed to keep one's house in order. I was told he might have up to 600 different homes worldwide, so he probably travels a lot in his job. Since he is legally a Swiss Citizen, it is my guess; he might show up at Davos http://www.weforum.org/ this coming week. I guess if he wanted to show up at the http://www.sochi2014.com/en , that the people from Moscow with the largest number of billionaires in the world might know how to entertain him. I once read that Joseph Stalin was 5 foot 6 inches tall, but here https://www.google.com/#q=How+tall+was+Mao+Tse+Tung , it says he was five foot eight inches tall, and Mao Zedong was five foot eleven inches and Vladimir Lenin was five foot five inches. Here it says Franklin Roosevelt was 6 foot 2 inches tall and some of his associates were shorter. http://www.catalogs.com/info/bestof/top-10-list-of-famous-tall-men-in-the-white-house . Aparently North Americans over generation eat more wheat which makes people taller and people in the southern hemisphere eat more corn meal which makes them shorter. I am not sure what grains the European politicians eat. They are taller in the Midwest of America, so by Midwest standards at 6 feet tall and 235 pound I am average to smaller. CIO

<888> 01/12/14 Sunday 1:15 P.M. $19.99 Omnitech 10 Sheet Cross-Cut Shredder . Back in the winter of 1978, the Key West Citizen newspaper published a picture of me reading in the Monroe Country Library, so if one were able to research their archives, one would see what I looked like back then. I was tanned, 6 feet tall and about 125 pounds. A lot of people thought John Bolton and myself were Episcopal priests, since we were around St. Margaret's Episcopal church next to the Casa Marina Hotel frequently. I think there was an older retired Episcopal priest that ran that church, and they had about 40 skinny older ladies that went to church there. Henry Flagler, when he built the Florida East Coast Railroad built hotels along the waterfront at major Florida railroad stops, and he also built an Episcopal church next to each hotel. His daughter used to go to the First Presbyterian Church here in Greenwich, Connecticut. Thus I guess one could say it is a railroad hotel and a railroad church. However, the Casa Marina Hotel is now part of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel chain, which is now a publicly traded company. When I was in Key West, I was told that all of the property along the waterfront was still owned by the United States Government, and it was just leased to the waterfront developers. In case of war or confrontation down there, the United States Government and Military could still reclaim their waterfront property. During World War II, the Casa Marina Hotel was used as the bachelor officers quarters. Before they started renovating the Casa Marina Hotel in the winter of 1976, they had used it a couple of years before as a Peace Corps Training Center. CIO
<888> 01/12/14 Sunday 11:35 A.M. Back in the 1970s during the major recession, people in the Florida Keys did not have very much money. When one drove down to the Florida Keys at night, one would see thousands of people on the many bridges with long poles with nets on the end with lanterns they would shine on the water, and they would be scooping up lots of shrimp from the water in the Florida Keys, so they would have something to eat. I could not afford to go out on a fishing boat, so I got a Cuban reel which is a plastic ring that can hold fifty pound test fishing line, and I would get old meat from the grocery store dumpsters to use for bait, and I would use a Mickey Mouse balloon from the Kress department store, and I would use a regular fishing hook, and I would let the wind by the Joint Chief of Staff building south of Mallory Square blow the balloon with the fishing line out to sea in the deep water, and I string the fishing line around one of the ship's pylons on shore, and I would try to catch some fish. The only thing is that I never ever got a nibble trying to fish that way. However, one could always buy fresh fish from the charter boat docks, since a lot of the charter boat fisherman did not eat their fish. John Bolton and myself once cooked a red snapper in Jimmy Eldert's apartment across the street from the Catholic church, and it seemed sort of strange that Jimmy complained that his apartment smelled of fish, since he had lived in Nantucket and Key West. I will now shower and clean up. CIO

I do not have my large library of hundreds of books anymore, since at a relative's advise I disposed of the books in the recycle dumpster about three years ago in the summer to build up the library at the dump. It took a whole dumpster. Also about the same time, I got rid of my large record collection that a friend of a neighbor picked up. That made more room for storage of computer parts and other items that I keep around. CIO

On the way downtown, I noticed they are fully underway in building the www.chase.com bank at the intersection of West Putnam Avenue and Lake Avenue on the Northwest corner where the www.exxon.com service station used to be. I parked downtown. I used the bathroom at the Greenwich Senior and Arts Center. I chatted with a couple of people there. I then walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area. I sat out at various locations. I stopped by the Greenwich Cigar store, and I played an Ace's High scratch card for a dollar, but the dealer's card of 9 beat my numbers, so I lost. I stopped by the www.apple.com store, and I told them about my Nokia Lumia 520 GoPhone. I used the bathroom at the Greenwich Senior and Arts Center on the way up Greenwich Avenue. Some of the political families my family have been around area down south, my father's company Chemstrand use to support various local politicians. My grandfather Scott's home turf of down state Illinois had many Illinois republicans. In Greenwich, Connecticut; we were neighbors of Lowell Weicker, the Bush family, Hicks, and the Rockefeller families. At Greenwich Country Day, I attended with members of the Warburg, Rockefeller, Deegan, Adams, and Morano families. At the Greenwich Country Club, the Harris family were members. At www.lfc.edu I was in charge of the young Republicans which included a classmate whose father ran the Rockefeller foundation. My mother's family were from Holland, Michigan which is near Grand Rapids, where the Ford family were from. One of my best friends in this area from Lake Forest College is related to the Harriman family. Another classmate at Lake Forest College was neighbors of the Kennedy family. Also Robert Morganthau's daughter was in my class at Lake Forest College. The family that I knew out on Long Island were neighbors of the Roosevelt family. Also another family had a father in the State Department. My father knew Dwight Eisenhower's son. With those connections, I probably know some other political people. I also know two RTM representatives here in Greenwich. The current first selectman used to be a floor officer at my local bank. A friend of my mine also knows the Weld family from nearby Bedford, New York. I also know members of the Garfield family, and I attended the Taft School which is related to the Taft family, and a members of the Harding, Ford, Adams, and Taft families were at Taft, while I attended. A member of the Van Buren family used to live in my building where I currently live as does a member of the Pataki family. I also use to know a neighbor of the Nixon family. My family is also a neighbor of the Bush family in Kennebunkport, Maine, and my stepfather's Agnew family who were summer residents of Kennebunkport, Maine since 1876 were also the Manhattan representative to the Albany, New York State legislature around 1914, when he outlawed horse racing in New York State which was not popular. I once met Chris Shays in Washington D.C.. Another relative's grandparents were neighbors of Nancy Reagan's parents in Arizona, and he is also related to Howard Baker. Another relative's husband was the assistant district attorney in Tulsa, Oklahoma, so he knew politicians from that area such as the Clintons. I also know a couple of Federal Judges along with a few local judges in this area. I also know a few lawyers. Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP , Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP , Milbank , The Law Firm of Vinson & Elkins, A Global Law Firm Serving Business Clients , and locally here in Greenwich, Connecticut named Larry Lawson on East Elm Street and Mason Street and Attorney Everett Fisher, Fogarty Cohen Selby & Nemiroff LLC, Greenwich, Connecticut . I was also in Plains, Georgia, when Jimmy Carter showed up at the Holiday Inn there, when he had announced that he was running for President. I also camped out by Ronald Reagan's ranch in Santa Barbara, California before he was elected President. CIO

I then will go to bed for the rest of the night and the early morning hours until I wake up to another cold morning in the cold country, but after all of these years I am use to it. <888> 01/07/14 Tuesday 8:25 P.M. I chatted with a friend and a relative. When I was younger, the week before the Lake Placid, New York Olympics in 1980 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1980_Winter_Olympics I left this area about 7 A.M., and I drove up the New York State Thruway to Buffalo, New York, and I cross the border into Canada, and I stopped at the Duty Free liquor store, and I bought a 1.5 liter of http://www.grand-marnier.com/dispatch.php for about $14, and I returned back the same way stopping off at Lake Placid, but when I explored it; nothing was going on, so I returned to this area around 11 P.M.. That was when gasoline was 59 cents a gallon and my 1971 yellow Subaru wagon that I bought for a $150 out in www.nantucket.net got about 52 miles per gallon on the highway. Of course, I made it back to Toronto, Ontario, Canada back in December 1983, when it was zero degrees Fahrenheit there. I slept on a couch at the Anglican seminary library at the University of Toronto, and I explored Toronto. It was about zero degrees Fahrenheit in the day time there, and after that adventure, I settled back into my family's home town of Green Witch, Connecticut; where I have lived the most of my life, and my family have some sort of connection here, since although we are a private family, we have been neighbors of various politicians who were not so private. Since I never pay much attention to government, I keep busy with my own activities which I am more experienced with. It seems one has to be a lawyer to be involved in government. CIO

<888> 01/07/14 Tuesday 2:20 P.M. I ate the other 40% of the meal that I made last night along with a 12 ounce glass of Schweppes Ginger Ale. I use to know quite a few people in Manhattan, but whenever I return to Greenwich, Connecticut; they seem to forget people way out here in the boondocks, but I find it more enjoyable, since it is less busy out here in the forests of Connecticut. <888> 01/07/14 Tuesday 11:00 A.M. I will now shower and clean up. There is not use in facing the Siberian tundra of Greenwich, Connecticut on frigid days. From my viewpoint, there is no point in starting a car, when it will just freeze up later in the day. I am stocked up on food supplies. However, I am out of bananas, I have no English muffin, and I only have two bagels left. Still I have plenty of other food. I guess a lot of people are sitting around the http://www.greenwichlibrary.org/ trying to stay warm and use their internet access. I am sure it costs a lot of money to keep the large McMansion homes in back country Greenwich warm. I suppose www.starbucks.com on Greenwich Avenue has some of their regulars trying to stay warm too. The Greenwich Train Station is suppose to have Optimum WiFi https://www.optimum.net/internet/hotspots/ . I think www.mcdonalds.com on West Putnam Avenue also has WiFi, but I am not sure about that. I am leaving my wireless going in my apartment, so that any neighbors in range can use it. I only do that in extreme situations, which I consider the present situation. The Greenwich Senior and Arts center just next to the Greenwich Police Station and north of Starbucks on Greenwich Avenue also has WiFi. CIO

Depending on compression the backup is from about 55 to 70 gigabytes. I will then do another one to the Seagate 2 TB external hard drive. Tonight is Russian Christmas Eve. CIO
<888> 01/06/14 Monday 7:10 P.M. On the IBM ThinkCentre by the Ethan Allen recliner, I finished installing Windows 8.1 on the second partition, and it runs just fine. However, when I went to restore the Windows 7 backup of the first partition from the Seagate 2 TB external hard drive, the Windows 7 DVD restore program still did not find any of my backups. I can not figure out what the problem is, since it recognizes the backups from the other computers. However, I am able to restore the first partition from the Western Digital external hard drive, by selecting not to format the drive and only to restore the system drive and not the data drive which would be the Windows 8.1 partition. I will then configure the boot managers by repairing it with the Windows 7 and then the Windows 8.1 DVDs. I will then have to put the free Paragon backup program on the first partition and make a Paragon backup to the Seagate 2 TB external hard drive. I chatted with a friend and a relative. CIO

Town of Greenwich, Connecticut Emergency Message:
Good afternoon.
This is a message from the Greenwich Police Department concerning weather
conditions and travel considerations for this evening and tomorrow. Today is
Monday, January 6th.
Evening temperatures are predicted to drop well below freezing tonight. Melting
snow from today’s warm temperatures and rainfall have left many walkways and
roadways wet. Dangerous driving conditions will be present when roadways freeze
over and so-called “black ice” forms. Similarly, there is significant potential
for ice accumulations on walkways, sidewalks and outdoor steps and stairs.
Yesterday morning we experienced similar conditions from a freezing rain event
and many motor vehicle collisions and slip and fall injuries – some serious –
were reported.
Temperatures are predicted to fall below 32 degrees a few hours after dark and
remain below freezing all day tomorrow. Accordingly, the Town of Greenwich is
advising all residents to exercise extreme caution if moving about outdoors or
driving – especially after 7:00 pm this evening. The frail elderly, people who
are unsteady on their feet or those who are mobility impaired will want to
exercise special care in icy environments.
Beyond the potential for icing conditions, bitterly cold temperatures tonight
and tomorrow will represent a danger to those outside without proper clothing.
Rapid temperature drops can also negatively affect underground water mains,
pipes in buildings and other infrastructure. Please be wary of these dangers.
All of the Town’s public safety agencies are fully staffed and prepared for what
could be a significant freezing event during the overnight period. Public Works
crews are out now treating roadways and they will remain on the job through the
night. Even so, drivers should make every effort to get off the roads by early
evening and everyone should use extra care when moving about outdoors after
temperatures drop below freezing.
Thank you for your attention and please exercise caution during what could be an
extraordinarily cold and icy period.
Capt. Mark Kordick

<888> 01/06/14 Monday 4:05 P.M. On the IBM ThinkCentre by the Ethan Allen recliner, I tried to get Outlook 2007 working on the Windows 7 partition, but it would not work no matter what I tried. However, I have Microsoft Live Email on it. I installed the Paragon backup program, and then I did another Complete PC backup of the first partition to the Seagate 2 TB external hard drive. I am now installing some more Windows 8 updates on the second partition. I discovered that I did not have Windows 8.1 on it previously, just the Windows 8.1 Enterprise Preview release which would have expired. After I have installed the updates, I will try to install Windows 8.1 from the Microsoft Store which is a free upgrade. All of this, because I really do not have anything else to do in the bad weather. It is warmer today, but it is raining out. CIO
<888> 01/06/14 Monday 1:55 P.M. Back in January 1989, I went with two friends http://mikelouisscott.com/photo/mike-scott-with-distant-relative-whom-knows-about-horses-with-relative-whom-knows-about-railroads-putnam-hotel-in-saratoga-ny-about-summer-1990.jpg and http://mikelouisscott.com/rv-ch-92.jpg to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_H._W._Bush inaugural. We stayed at the Dutch Inn in Georgetown, which I had discovered back in February 1983, where I also had stayed briefly, until Dr. Gillespie told me it was a flop house and had me move to the Georgetown Inn. At the Dutch Inn, my friend from New York brought his fiancée from Scotland. We went to the pre events the day before the inaugural including the Qualye reception which involved standing in a long line outside to see him for a brief period. The day of the inaugural, we went to Chris Shays' office. However, it was so cold that we watched it on television in the basement of the Dutch Inn while having lunch. We went out to dinner that night with our two dates, one of whom was Admiral Halsey's daughter in law whose husband was busy pulling around horse trailers in Maryland and the other was a reporter for the Philadelphia Inquirer. We had about a $900 dinner at an expensive French restaurant with two other friends that my friends paid for. My friend from Connecticut and myself and our dates went to the Connecticut party which was different than the New York party my other friend went to. I recall Michigan was also at the Connecticut party including a few other states. Our dates were busy networking. I chatted with a girl from Grand Haven, Michigan which is near Holland, Michigan. I also chatted with an older woman in wheel chair who was surrounded by eight joint chiefs of staff Marine honor guards in dress pinks. I thought she might have been http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean_MacArthur who might have seen me when I used to walk through the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Manhattan to warm up on one of my frequent walks when I lived there. After the party, my friend and I returned to the Dutch Inn. I then went out by myself to the 1782 restaurant, and I ran into Dr. Gillespie again, and we chatted until closing. He had me over to his house, and he introduced me to his new wife. We chatted until 6 A.M.. I then returned to the Dutch Inn, and my friends were getting ready to go to the National Cathedral event, but I finally went to bed for a while. The following day, I drove back to Greenwich with one of my friends. CIO

<888> 01/06/14 Monday 11:35 A.M. On the IBM ThinkCentre by the Ethan Allen recliner, I will also rename the Windows 7 partition, so I can also do a Complete PC backup of just the Windows 7 partition to the Seagate 2 TB external hard drive. After I have the three backups, I could install Windows 8.1 on the second Windows 8 partition, and when product activation comes up on the first Windows 7 partition, I could restore Windows 7 partition backup to enable it, and then go through the procedure that I have learned of enabling the boot manager for both partitions. I could then try to do a free Paragon backup of both partitions, but I think I tried that before, and the Paragon restore boot CD did not work on the IBM ThinkCentre along side the Ethan Allen recliner. CIO
<888> 01/06/14 Monday 11:10 A.M. On the IBM ThinkCentre along side the Ethan Allen recliner, I have the updates installed on both partitions. I also put Norton Internet Security 2014 on the first partition. Both partitions are running just fine. On the Windows 7 partition, after I installed the last of the updates, the system would not boot up properly. I had already installed a wired keyboard, so I could try the F8 options, but they did not work, but a System restore from an hour earlier fixed the problem. I will not put Windows 8.1 on the Windows 8 second partition, since one can not back up or restore Windows 8.1. I am now backing it up with the Windows 7 Complete PC backup from the first partition doing a backup of both partitions to the Seagate 2 TB external hard drive. I will then make a second backup to the Western Digital external hard drive. Since to fix the system, I had to restore the backup from a year ago, it took a long time to install the updates on both partitions. Although I hardly ever use the IBM ThinkCentre along side the Ethan Allen recliner, it happens to be my primary demo computer for my Microsoft configurations, as I have figured out how to do them. <888> 01/05/14 Sunday 1:35 P.M. I used the Seagate Utilities, and I did a low level format of the IBM ThinkCentre along side the Ethan Allen recliner. When I tried to install the Windows 8.1 backup from the Seagate 2 TB hard drive, it still would not work. I also tried two other Windows 8 and Windows 7 backups on the Seagate 2 TB hard drive using, the Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1 DVDs, and none of them would work. In Windows 7 DVD, it would not find the IBM ThinkCentre backups. In Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 DVD, it found the backups, but gave an error message that the backups were created with a different operating system. I am now restoring the December 11, 2012 backup from the Rosewell external hard drive, and then I will have to install the windows updates on both partitions. I can not figure out why the restores of the backups from the 2 TB Seagate external hard drive would not work. CIO
<888> 01/05/14 Sunday 10:10 A.M. On the IBM ThinkCentre computer along side the Ethan Allen recliner, I tried restoring the Windows 8.1 backup that I made on November 11, 2013; but the restore program from the DVD would not find the backup although it is on the Seagate 2 TB external hard drive. I mentioned the procedure in my November 11, 2013 note at 12:45 P.M. here http://mikelouisscott.com/11013013.htm , but I never actually tried to do the restore. All I can think of is that since the Windows 8.1 Complete PC backup has different partitioning, one might have to do a low level format of the IBM ThinkCentre hard drive first, and then restore the Paragon backup of the first boot partition, and then see if the Windows 8.1 DVD restore program finds the Windows 8.1 backup. For now, I will leave Windows 8 on it, and not worry about it. CIO

<888> 01/03/14 Friday 5:50 A.M. I turned off the two DeLonghi oil filled radiators, since it is now 72.8 degrees Fahrenheit in the apartment. Since they are away from the window wall with the high ceiling and underneath the lower ceiling part, they bring the heat out into the main part of the apartment living room. However, they are expensive to run, but are probably more efficient than the wall electric radiators, since they maintain an even heat. I also keep a tower fan on the window ledge to blow the wall electric heat out into the apartment instead of letting it all rise into the ceiling area. Now that there are double pane windows in the apartment and fiberglass insulation in the false ceilings, the apartment is less drafty and warmer, and the electric bills are a bit less expensive. I went outside, and I measured the snow on the front sidewalk, and it is 4.5 inches deep, however that might now be an accurate measurement, since the snow is very powdery in the extreme cold weather, and it is blowing around with accumulations elsewhere and bare sports in the windy areas. There is little or no snow on the car roofs which are up in the wind. CIO

Town of Greenwich, Connecticut Snow Notice:
This is Greenwich First
Selectman Peter Tesei with an important message for all Greenwich residents. As
many of you know, significant snowfall and bitterly cold temperatures are
anticipated to occur this evening through Friday morning. Accordingly, the Town
of Greenwich Board of Selectmen unanimously voted to declare a Snow Emergency
effective at 6:00 pm today, January 2nd, 2014. The Snow Emergency will remain
in effect until cancelled.
During the period of the Snow Emergency no vehicles are permitted to remain
parked, stopped or standing on any Snow Emergency Route. Vehicles in violation
will be subject to ticketing and immediate towing. If you are unsure if your
vehicle is parked on a Snow Emergency Route, a full list of all routes can be
viewed at the Town of Greenwich website -
www.greenwichct.org. Vehicles displaced from Snow Emergency Routes may be
lawfully parked in municipal off-street parking lots until the snow emergency is
over. Your cooperation will ensure that road crews can keep Snow Emergency
Routes open for emergency First Responder vehicle traffic.
The Town of Greenwich is fully prepared for the coming snow event. Additional
staffing, as appropriate, has been added to Public Works road crews and by
Greenwich's emergency responder agencies. At this time, we anticipate the storm
will be a moderate duration event with moderate impact. Even so, it is
imperative that everyone exercise additional caution during the storm, limit
travel to only essential trips and dress appropriately for the bitterly cold
conditions.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation and best wishes for a safe
New Year.

<888> 01/03/14 Friday 4:20 A.M. My weather station remote says it is 9.3 degrees Fahrenheit outside my window right now. The National Weather Service says it is 5 degrees Fahrenheit http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?CityName=Greenwich&state=CT&site=OKX&lat=41.0613&lon=-73.6368#.UsZ-Qvvy3c8 . The Hipo Weather Station from Westchester County Airport says it is 14 degrees Fahrenheit. The http://www.greenwichtime.com/ says it is 8.7 degrees Fahrenheit. In Kennebunkport, Maine where my family has a summer house it is minus 2 degrees Fahrenheit http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=43.3920334&lon=-70.44387949999998&site=all&smap=1&searchresult=Kennebunkport%2C%20ME%2004046%2C%20USA#.UsZ_WPvy3c8 and like here they are expecting six to ten inches of snow. <888> 01/03/14 Friday 3:45 A.M. I ate a 16 ounce Marie Callender chicken and bacon pot pie with a 12 ounce glass of Schweppes Ginger Ale. This former resident of Greenwich http://mikelouisscott.com/chris2000.jpg was raised in north eastern Vermont, so he knew how to deal with severe winter conditions. He worked at Wendy's and he also worked at http://www.christchurchgreenwich.org/ . The forty skinny ladies at Christ Church that control the Town of Greenwich, Connecticut liked him, and they found him very helpful. I had him over at my apartment a few times here in Byram, and I once was chatting with him, and he fell asleep on the sofa, and I kept talking because from my viewpoint there was somebody else there that looked a bit like him that might have been a ghost from the Christ Church cemetery that followed him around. The ghost sort of looked like the actor http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kris_Kristofferson and had the same http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talisman as Chris from Christ Church. I figured it was probably some old Viking Ghost that got here before the recent European settlers of the last four to five hundred years. Alas Chris is not in this area to shovel snow at Christ Church, but I stay in touch with him on his facebook page, and I try to respect his privacy. I heard from another Facebook contact that it is extremely cold in Minnesota, and it is coming our way. Make sure your pipes don't freeze and don't leave any pets outside and be sure to keep the Freezing Norwegian Patrol active. There are too large monument type stones on the property of Vinci Drive, and I once thought they might be old boundry markers from the boundry of the New Haven and the New Amsterdam colony, since this was part of Lyon Farm whose homestead was moved just down the hill. However, the old monument stones might be old Druid stones from previous explorers. CIO

<888> 01/03/14 Friday 12:55 A.M. I have 40 minutes to go on one large dry cycle, and I put the other regular dry cycle away. Thus instead of costing me $5 for four regular machines, the laundry cost $6.75. CIO
<888> 01/03/14 Friday 12:35 A.M. I went down to the laundry room, but the far right Maytag washer machine was unbalanced again, and I tried to restart it by unplugging it, and then its front panel went black when I plugged it with the door locked. I tried resetting the circuit breakers in the mail room. Its door did unlock, so I put a load of wet laundry in the larger dryer which costs more money of $1.50 , and it will take about two large dryer loads to get dry. I also started a regular dryer load. I was finally able to get the far right Maytag laundry machine working by leaving it unplugged for a few minutes and then plugging it in. It then came on with six minutes to go which was too late to spin dry the laundry. I chatted with a neighbor. CIO
<888> 01/02/14 Thursday 11:10 P.M. I put clean linens on the bed. I showered, and I cleaned up. I started two loads of laundry, and I have 20 minutes to go on the wash cycles. I threw out the garbage and the old periodical literature. There is a yellow construction tape strung the entire length of the east wing parking area, so I guess they need that parking space for the construction work. However, once the snow is over, they will also have to plow those spaces. I watered the plants. CIO

I ate breakfast of oatmeal with honey and milk and sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with olive oil, a 12 ounce glass of 50% punch and 50% cold filtered water and vitamins and supplements, and a cup of coffee with milk and Splenda sweetener. I washed the breakfast dishes. Recently the Stop and Shop has been sold out of Stop and Shop English muffins, but there are still Thomas' English muffins which are a lot more expensive. They make Thomas' English muffins at the nearby Byram commercial bakery which is now owned by http://www.bimbobakeriesusa.com/ and http://www.bimbobakeriesusa.com/our_brands/arnold.html , so somebody is probably working over there 24 hours a day. <888> 01/02/14 Thursday 10:20 A.M. Well, the http://www.greenwichtime.com/ said 15 years ago that http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guy_de_Rothschild had moved to Byram Shore Road in the Byram section of Greenwich, Connecticut, and since his family are world class smugglers http://www.prisonplanet.com/rothschilds-rockefellers-trillionaires-of-the-world.html , this area for some of the new people is doing better than in the past. All I can tell from the local viewpoint is that http://www.varmax.com/ now has a larger assortment of liquors and wines from around the world, so it is not like the old days, when the teenagers would drive over to Port Chester, New York and buy a case of Colt 45 Malt Liquor http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colt_45_(malt_liquor) for $4. However, back in the 1960s a teenager would die from drinking and driving about every six months here in town. Of course using electronic devices while driving today probably causes more driving accidents. I chatted with a relative and a friend. CIO

I ate some Lays sour cream and onion potato chips and a slice of Swiss Cheese.
From my perspective, I am doing a lot better than the mid 1970s when Ford and Rockefeller were President and Vice President and my family lived in the Bush Rockefeller neighborhood in Greenwich, Connecticut. After a night in Manhattan, when most of my relatives were away, I would return home to an empty house, and the only thing in the refrigerator would be eggs and a five pound box of mushrooms from Bonjournos. I became an expert at making mushroom omelets, and occasionally English muffins would show up out of no where. Of course back then, I only weighed about 130 pounds at six feet tall at age 25, so I did not need as much food. The only person around here that seems to have money once was a neighbor of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Overholt . It costs $15 a bottle here http://www.binnys.com/spirits/Old_Overholt_Rye_Whiskey_195761.html . His neighbor used to have barrels of it in their basement. CIO

<888> 01/02/14 Thursday 7:05 A.M. I woke up at 2:30 A.M.. I spent some more time putting more applications on the $59 with free shipping Nokia Lumia 520 No Contract for AT&T . I do not run my wireless, when I am not using it. I now have 450 megabytes of free space left on it. There is a storage cleaner application to free up a bit of free space. I have more than enough applications. I probably will not use it too much, since I do not travel far from my apartment. When I do go out, I like to be free from the internet and to observe ordinary life in our simple community. However, if I ever did have to travel a short distance, and there was free wireless, it would be handy. The AT&T GoPhone data plans are absurdly expensive for the common person. I ate a muffin. I chatted with a friend. Sometimes Amazon sells it for $40, but they are higher now $59.99 with free shipping Nokia Lumia 520 GoPhone (AT&T) . If it were $40 again, I might buy another one for backup. Since Apple sells their phones which are about 50% bigger for several hundred or more dollars http://store.apple.com/us/buy-iphone/iphone5s with service contract plans which cost more, I can not figure out why anyone would spend the extra money for an Apple.
