Note: <888> 01/31/08 Thursday 3:40 A.M..  A relative wanted a copy of another relative's Christmas card.  When I went to use the Samsung all purpose machine, I had to change the USB cable from the 7 port USB adapter to the last USB port on the primary Vista CPU to get it to work.  I scanned the Christmas card, and I sent it to my relatives.  It took a bit of time.  I also used up to many resource, and the computer had to be restarted with the restart button.  The primary Vista computer with SP1 RC2 revision 2 now still take 12 to 15 minutes to still boot up completely.

Note: <888> 01/30/08 Wednesday 8:45 P.M..  I chatted with a relative.  I took a Revere five quart pot, and I filled it two thirds full with water, and I put it on the large electric burner, and I turned it on high, and I added a teaspoon of olive oil and a dash of sea salt.  It took about 15 minutes to boil with a lid on. I took a large stick proof frying pan, and I added a couple of tablespoons of olive oil and a couple of pads of 50% less fat butter.  I then peeled and minced two cloves of garlic, and I put them in the frying pan.  I then peeled and diced two medium small onions.  I then took a 8 ounce defrosted top round of beef London broil burger, and I chopped it into about half inch chunks.  I then turned on the frying pan to medium high, and once the fat began to bubble, I added the onions and the chopped meat.  I then seasoned it with garlic powder, Old Bay Seasoning, chicken and meat seasoning, beef bouillon seasoning, Italian spices, red cayenne pepper, bacon bits and ground black pepper.  I sautéed it all under the meat was browned and the onions were blanched.  I then added a 26 ounce jar of Francesco Rinaldi tomato sauce, and I mixed it all together adding a couple of tablespoon of Kikkoman low sodium soy sauce.  I brought it all to a boil, and then I put a lid on it, and I let it simmer covered with a lid over medium electric burner heat lowering it half way through to medium low and stirring it every few minutes or so.  While doing that, once the pot of water began to boil, I added a 16 ounce box of Barillo fettuccini, and I boiled it for 12 minutes stirring it occasionally.  Once it was done, I put a colander in another large pot, and I drained the water off the cooked fettuccini into the other pot.  I then put half of the fettuccini on a dinner plate, and I put the other half in a flat Rubbermaid container in the refrigerator.  I then put half of the tomato sauce on the fettuccini, and I put the other half in a round Rubbermaid container with lid, which I put in the refrigerator.  I dumped the hot water from the draining pot down the bathroom sink to clean out the soap scum.  I put a few tablespoons of Kraft grated parmesan cheese on the tomato and pasta dinner.  I ate it all with a glass of iced tea.  I chatted with a friend.  I will now go through my email.  It appears the problem with the primary Vista computer rebooting was caused by the Cablevision Digital TV cable plugged into the Hauppauge 1600 HDTV card, and since I disconnected it, it has not flashed the blue screen and crashed.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/30/08 Wednesday 5:30 P.M..  After I showered, and I cleaned up, I went downstairs, and I picked up the mail. I said hello to the building custodian and his visiting family and a neighbor.  With all of the Italians at www.ibm.com "Italian Business Machines" , their most important vendor is Planet Pizza .  I heard in the old days, they use to smuggle in motherboards in pizza boxes.  If the FIC server motherboard should go on the fritz, I have a spare identical FIC Via 400 motherboard which would work, and it is the same as the current motherboard, but it is not Via 600.  Of course my primary Vista computer Gigabyte motherboard and the two Gigabyte spare ones and the other spare one are all Via 600.  I also have a heck of a lot of other spare parts including CPU coolers and case fans and IDE cables and one good spare power supply,  and a new generic power supply, and a new 320 gigabyte Maxtor hard drive, so in a desktop CPU failure, I probably would be able to do onsite repairs in a day without ordering parts.  This morning, when I was trouble shooting the network system, I exchanged the FR114P Netgear Router from Mission Viejo, California with the one from Minnesota, and there is no problem with either one of them.  There is the possibility with the higher price of fuel in the United States of America, the internet infrastructure is not being maintained as well as it once used to be maintained, and possibly the technicians are not able to service the equipment as much as usual.  The parking lot for the ice skating rink in the back yard is full, so the town of Greenwich, Connecticut Welcome to the official Town of Greenwich Connecticut Web site is still maintaining that facility up to standard.  I have only been over there once in 24 years, and that was 21 years ago to take a friend of mine from Sao Paulo, Brazil ice skating. Although I have a strong pair of legs, I would be awkward ice skating, and I do not feel like breaking anything. CIO

Note: <888> 01/30/08 Wednesday 4:05 P.M..  I lost two days worth of email, when I restored the Vista Complete PC backup from the second hard drive to the first hard drive this morning.  However, I saved the few emails worth saving before the restore.  I will now shower and clean up.  It is not that expensive for me to shower and clean up, since last September, I bought at the Greenwich Hardware store http://www.greenwichhardware.com/  and installed a brass Find Deluxe Saver Shower Head and other Shower & Bath Repair at Aubuchon Hardware by Whedon Products The Flow Pro Model DS2C-AB Designer Saver Shower  Head which uses 1.8 to 2.5 gallons per minute at 80 PSI which can save $50 to $200 a year for $21.99 and a roll Teflon plumbers tape for free and $1.32 tax for $23.31 total.  Thus it is less expensive to shower and clean up every day, if I happen to have the time.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/30/08 Wednesday 1:20 P.M..  I was up at 8 A.M. this morning.  I restored the Vista Complete PC backup from the second hard drive to the first hard drive.  I was able to get the FIC server to go online with Vista server by disabling the Via onboard LAN, and I am just using the Netgear card.  However, I could not get it to ftp from the primary Vista computer to the FIC server, so I started up the FIC server in XP, and it seems to work just fine.  I chatted with a relative.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/30/08 Wednesday 2:05 A.M..  I have the FIC server working from Vista Server Beta SP1, but I can not get it to work from XP on the other partition.  I also can not FTP between the primary Vista computer, and the FIC server with either partition running.  I have tested all of the options.  All that I can think to do is to try the other router to see if that makes  a difference.  I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go to bed soon.  About midnight, I ate two fifths of a French butter crumb cake with some iced tea.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/29/08 Tuesday 11:45 P.M..  Both the FIC server, and the primary Vista computer were not displaying my homepage off the server.  I called up the Optimum Host provider at 1-800-504-5710 , and they told me to restart the computer and the router.  I eventually had the FIC server where they could see it in Vancouver, Canada, but my two computers here would not see it.  Both systems seem to be running fine now.  I saved the Router information, so it can be restored.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/29/08 Tuesday 6:20 P.M..  While watching the State of the Union address last night, I did a Vista Complete PC backup restore of the primary Vista computer, and the FIC server both partitions.  I left the server turned  off, when I went to bed.  I was awake at 8 A.M. this morning.  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted bagel with olive oil, orange and grape and cranraspberry juice with vitamins and supplements and coffee with milk and splenda sweetener.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  I made my bed.  I threw out the garbage, and I chatted with a neighbor.  I installed the recent updates on the FIC server XP partition, and I configured the most recent changes both on the XP and the Vista Server partitions.  On the FIC server, I did a Vista Complete PC backup of the XP and Vista partitions from the first hard drive to the second hard drive.  I showered, and I cleaned up.  I picked up my mail.  I received the order for The VistaPrint Everything must go free sale , and I ordered 10 custom letterheads for free, 250 premium business cards for free, 10 vertical large magnets with the business card information for free, a free rubber stamp with my address, and a custom made extra extra large t-shirt with a picture myself and the Audi that is on my homepage for $1.99 extra for the larger size, a $69.44 value for $1.99 and $7.45 slow 21 day shipping from Minnesota for $9.44 total.  I put one of the magnet card on the refrigerator.  I went out, and I gave one calling card to a neighbor.  I went by the New Lebannon school, and I was told the Connecticut primary is not until February 5, 2008.  I then went by the Arnold Bread Outlet, and I bought two six packs of Thomas' plain bagels for .99 each six pack and a 14 ounce Entenmann's French butter crumb cake for $2.25 for $4.23 total.  I then drove around Grass Island.  I saw a Yacht from Antigua heading south for the winter leaving the harbor.  I then went by the Chase Bank on Mason Street.  I gave one of their floor staff one of my calling cards.   I used the bathroom in the basement there.  I then went by the Greenwich Library, and I chatted with a patron from Cyprus about what I have been doing over the last 24 years or more. I gave one of my calling cards to a regular library patron and the fellow from Cyprus.  I was told Cyprus is made up by two volcanoes.  I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought green Chiquita bananas for .54 a pound for $1.57.  I then returned home.  I noticed the Cablevision equipment room door is left opened on the second floor by the elevator with the light on, so maybe Cablevision is coming this evening.  I am doing a XP ASR backup of the XP partition on the FIC server, and I will then start the Vista Server 2008 beta sp1 on the FIC server.  Computers take a bit of maintenance.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/29/08 Tuesday 12:35 A.M..  I have to vote in the Connecticut Republican Primary later on today.  Well, if I had been able to afford to buy some beach front property while I was living around the beach or traveling around the beach, I would be better off today.  Well, look at it this way, I don't have to worry about flooding.  I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go to bed soon.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/28/08 Monday 11:05 P.M..  I watched the State of the Union message.  From a Republican point of view, it was a very good speech.  I noticed one of the commentators said that the rebate bill would also include low income and social security individuals, so hopefully as an SSI recipient I will also get the rebate.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/28/08 Monday 8:35 P.M..  The President's www.whitehouse.gov is suppose to be delivered tonight at 9 P.M. on the major networks.  You can try to figure out if there are any robots in the audience of not.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/28/08 Monday 8:20 P.M..  I chatted with a relative earlier.  I disconnected the Cablevision cable that connects to the FIC server from the four way splitter in between the two laser printers.   Since neither computer has crashed or rebooted since I have them both disconnected, particularly the primary Vista computer, it would lead me to be believe my systems might be being hacked through the Cablevision cable.  Cablevision said today they do not put out a signal that would cause problems.  Possibly someone in the building or the neighborhood cable network is tampering with the Cablevision system.  However, from what I can tell both systems are still being hacked through the internet, and I am also getting denial of service attacks.  With technology today anything is possible.  When I chatted with the computer parts person on the order that was cancelled in Manhattan today, they told me they had visited Epcot center at www.disney.com recently on a 20 year old $85 ticket, when it costs more than three times that today.  I told him when I visited there in 1977 with Jimmy Eldert, I peaked behind a door that had been left ajar in an unopened exhibit, and I saw a lot of human robots, and then I explained that in the way technology has changed in 31 years since then, we could be dealing with robots today that look and act like real individuals.  For all we know the President www.whitehouse.gov is a Disney robot.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/28/08 Monday 7:10 P.M..  I made and ate my usual sautéed burger with onions and cheese, which I ate it with a microwaved potato with low salt butter and microwaved baby carrots and broccoli crowns with olive oil with a glass of iced tea.  I received a $10 check for the surveys I fill out for Knowledge Networks of Menlo Park, California.  Today I also received a UNICEF UNICEF - UNICEF Christmas card from the Dutch Royal Household The Dutch Royal House .  I think the Dutch like using Ajax cleaner instead of Comet cleaner, since Ajax is a Dutch Football team.  I send them a Christmas card every year and about 7 weeks later I get one back.  I guess the mail is still working from the Netherlands.  Since my mother is 100% Dutch from Holland, Michigan, I am half Dutch.  However, the Dutch no longer network with me anymore, since I do not visit New Amsterdam anymore.   A lot of the Dutch are multilingual, but when they speak English, they are usually thinking in several different languages, so when they finally spit it out, their English comes out sort of confusing.  I saw a Dutch kid walking around this past Saturday that looks like Jimmy Eldert use to look when he was younger, so maybe one of Jimmy's younger Dutch relatives showed up.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/28/08 Monday 4:55 P.M..   I searched the internet for any Netgear power adapters for the Netgear FR114P Prosafe Firewall/Print Server, and all I could find was used ones, so I ordered four of these similar products for 12VDC @ 800mA PLUG SUPPLY-MPJA, Inc. for $4.95 each for $19.80 subtotal and $8.86 UPS ground shipping for $28.66 total.  There is a $15 minimum order limit..  Thus I will have two power supplies for each of the three routers.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/28/08 Monday 2:45 P.M..   The order for the Netgear router power supply two Computers Plus - Detailed Product Information Netgear POWER ADAPTER FOR PS113/PS110 12VDC 800MA for $8.21 each and $10 charge for under $90 order plus UPS ground shipping of $8.56 for $34.98 total was not available, so I cancelled it.  I could order four of these similar products for 12VDC @ 800mA PLUG SUPPLY-MPJA, Inc. for $4.95 each for $19.80 subtotal and $8.86 UPS ground shipping for $28.66 total.  There is a $15 minimum order limit.   Possibly when I have money, I will order them next month.  They should work with the Netgear router, and there is no rush since plenty are available.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/28/08 Monday 12:45 P.M..  I went out, and I chatted with a neighbor.  I checked the mail, but it is not here yet.  I threw out the garbage, and I found two spare www.ge.com microwave round glass trays in a broken G.E. microwave by the dumpster.  When I was coming upstairs, I noticed the door to the Cablevision room with the stored air conditioners was left open.  I closed it.  Maybe somebody has been tampering with the Cablevision setup in the building.  I put the two spare G.E. glass trays in between the two small tables at the kitchen entrance.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/28/08 Monday 11:45 A.M..  I woke up at 8 A.M. this morning.  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted bagel with olive oil, orange and grape and cranraspberry juice with vitamins and supplements and coffee with milk and splenda sweetener.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  I made my bed.  I chatted with four security officials about the computer and internet problems that I have been having.  The primary FIC server was once again hacked again by the Monday morning hacker.  When I booted the primary Vista computer, it has not crashed with the Cable TV cable disconnected from it, but all of the audio devices were not working, and I was able to enable them by disabling them and enabling them, so it would seem somebody is still hacking my computers through the internet.  Basically it would seem the computer and internet technology is not reliable as it exists today, and if I had an important message to get through, I would use a stamp and a letter and the post office, which seems to be more reliable.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/28/08 Monday 12:20 A.M..  From what I know one of the Roosevelt boys was involved in building the Norwalk Aquarium, so more than likely the same group of Roosevelt democrats could be tampering with the electronics in the Cablevision system.  I would not put it past them.  Of course the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) could always pull their license to teach them a lesson and possibly bankrupt them.  I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go to bed soon.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/27/08 Sunday 8:10 P.M..  I woke up at 7 A.M..  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted bagel with olive oil, orange and grape and cranraspberry juice with vitamins and supplements and coffee with milk and splenda sweetener.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  I made my bed.  I chatted with a relative.  I went outside, and  checked out the outside environment.  I chatted with a neighbor.  I browsed the internet a bit.  I read the previous issues of www.forbes.com and the most recent issue of U.S. News and World Report.  I took a nap in the recliner.  I ate a 3.5 ounce tube of Pringle sour cream and onion potato chips with some iced tea.  I took another nap in the recliner.  I watched the movie the "Godfather III" .  I've seen it before.  I chatted with a relative.  I microwaved a Stauffer's 21 ounce frozen lasagna, and I put some grated parmesan cheese on it with oregano, and I ate it with a glass of iced tea.  Not much happening out here in the far side of town.  I guess everyone is staying cabin bound, trying to save on energy, so hopefully they can continue to go to work and afford to live here.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/24/08 Thursday 3:40 A.M..  I think I had a telephone call from a relative while I was asleep.  I woke up at 12:30 A.M..  I called up a local security group, and I told them about my energy depleted condition.  I mentioned that a blond haired blue eyed son of Arab banker had emailed me.  The individual use to live out in Sands Point, Long Island where the Harriman family lived.  I went to the Taft School in Watertown, Connecticut with the individual, and the individual use to like playing ice hockey.  Well, we have an ice rink in the back yard, but I don't know if they can afford to turn on the electric lights.  The local security individual suggested that I try using a space heater.   Since I have the electric baseboard heaters turned off in the apartment, it was 62.5 degrees Fahrenheit in the apartment.  I also have two DeLonghi oil filled electric radiators.  One is by the sweater closet and the French reproduction chair.  I keep it turned off.  I moved the other one from in front of the chair by the Sony television to the left of the Chinese computer desk with the laptop computer, and I plugged it into the power strip for the FIC server, and I used the decoy place mat from underneath the new HP laser printer to cover the Delonghi cord which runs across the living room entrance sitting area.  I then turned it on to medium setting power level 4 of 6.  It is currently about 66 degrees in that immediate area.  I then hung one of my large picture post cards on the upper outside of the apartment entrance door.  I took out the Saudi Arabian flag, and I hung it over the left living room closet, so now it is displayed in the living room.  Despite the fact that women have no rights in Saudi Arabia from my viewpoint no women live in my apartment, and my father used to work for Aramco amongst other oil companies, so I now have the Saudi Arabian flag flying, but it is not much warmer in the apartment except around the DeLonghi oil filled radiator.  From previous experience it seems the DeLonghi oil filled radiators give out a better quality more even heat, but they seem to use more electricity for the amount of heat produced compared to the electric baseboard radiators.  I will turn it off when I leave the apartment, and when I go to bed.   I ate breakfast of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted bagel with olive oil, orange and grape and cranraspberry juice with vitamins and supplements and coffee with milk and splenda sweetener.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  I made my bed.  I will now do some regular computer work.  I will now make up another batch of passion punch.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/23/08 Wednesday 12:10 P.M..  I woke up at 9 A.M. this morning.  I checked my www.chase.com accounts, and once again I had been charged $12 for having too many online transfers.  I called up the Mason Street branch, and I chatted with their most senior account manager, and I explained the situation.  They told me they keep track of the six times that one can transfer money not from the first of the month, but when they post their statements, which is later in the month.  They agreed to refund the $12.  I then called up the www.whitehouse.gov , and I explained to them they should get rid of the old 1920s wire transfer law that is still on the books, because it interferes with internet banking transactions.  The person that answered the telephone at the White House did not sound old enough to vote.  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted bagel with olive oil, orange and grape and cranraspberry juice with vitamins and supplements and coffee with milk and splenda sweetener.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  I made my bed.    I then went downstairs, and I chatted with some neighbors, and I threw out some garbage, and I picked up my mail.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/23/08 Wednesday 2:45 A.M..  I am always like the Maytag repairman, and I am not much aware of anything going on all of the time.  Much the same was with me, when I stayed at the Van Deusen town house in Manhattan on an off from 1980 to 1982, and my friend that let me use the apartment was a legal secretary for Cyrus Vance.  There were cold winters after Mount St. Helens down to minus 26 degrees Fahrenheit.  However, my friend had two dogs a White German Shepard a Doberman that I had to walk frequently up to six times a day to keep the dogs healthy, so I knew the neighborhood quite well.  On the night Ronald Reagan first arrived in Manhattan, I walked the white Sheppard from the Van Deusen town house at 315 West 74th street behind the Eagle Brook school and across from the Schwab house, and the dog and I walked east on West 72nd street through Central Park New York, and I brought the white Sheppard into the Waldorf Astoria, and all of Ronald Reagan's secret service agents were happy to see it, and they photographed it with a Polaroid camera.  My friend's father was a resident of Santa Barbara, California.  When the dog and I walked back through Central Park, there  was a commotion around the Dakota, and a passer by told me that John Lennon had been shot, so about a year later, I moved out of the neighborhood as I recall and after a boring trip to Key West, I built the garage apartment in Plandome Manor, Long Island in old man Grumman's neighborhood who was blind, so if her mother came back up from Tobago in the winter, she would have a warm substitute for the colder house.  It was about 7,000 hours work at $1.15 an hour which included storm windows, a foot of insulation in the ceiling and a built out north wall with a foot of insulation.  The garage had a 25 foot long steam radiator fed off the primary house German ship boiler which would have produced more heat in the primary house, but the interior decorators had painted over the bleeder valves on the steam radiators.  I replaced the ones that I was able to replace, and I also found the right one at the Wright Brother's Hardware store in Manhasset, Long Island to use on the long 25 foot steam radiator.  So the house was warm and comfortable back in February 1982, when I left with my years wages of $8,000 they paid me at the end for all of the work.  I visited relatives in Florida,  with  trips to the Washington D.C. area, New Haven, and I finally tried to move to Oslo, Norway, where they are suppose to have better social services, but the Norwegian and the United States government deported me back, and charged my family a $1,000.  I did not originally intend to visit Norway, but at J.F.K. airport, I had paid $825 in travelers checks to the www.sas.com counter attendant for the Round Trip S.A.S. package advertised in the New York Times to Stockholm, Sweden and a week stay at the S.A.S. hotel there.  Thus S.A.S. robbed me, and the Norwegians basically kidnapped me, because the Stockholm bound flight landed at the military airport in Oslo, and everyone got off the flight.  All the pilots were drinking Vodka in the rear of the flight during the long long flight.  We flew over mostly trees the whole way and not ocean.   While at Oslo, Norway, I stayed the Y.M.C.A., and they kicked me out after a couple of nights, and they let me stay at the West Hotel behind the palace for the rest of my stay.  I did not eat much because by that time, I was running out of money.  I returned via Copenhagen, but since I did not have funds, I stayed in the airport, and I ended up at J.F.K. for a week without money sleeping rough in the terminal at Easter time, and finally I returned to Nantucket, and I went back to work at the Languedoc.  What I do remember that I heard later in the news was the apartment at 315 West 74th street was two doors west of Sidney Biddle Barrows apartment better known as the Mayflower Madam.  Thus all of the long black stretch limousines I saw coming and going at what I thought was a luxury town house were the girls and customers, and I never figured that out while living there.  Well I am a bit tired, so I will now go back to bed soon.  Shut down time.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/23/08 Wednesday 12:50 A.M..  I woke up from my nap yesterday at 11 A.M..  I threw out some garbage, and I picked up my mail, and I made my bed.  I ate some chicken Ramen noodles with a glass of iced tea.  I showered, and I cleaned up.  I then went to my 3 P.M. appointment.  I was told by my 3 P.M. appointment that my www.cl-p.com energy assistance from the Federal government would adjust my budget amount that I pay on electricity, so for the next year instead of paying $181 a month, I will pay $135.  However, it does not give me anymore money to have for electricity than what I already have.  I then returned home.  I relaxed a bit.  I ate the reheated spaghetti dinner that I made yesterday.  I chatted with a relative.  The order for NetGear FR114P Router - Like new condition! - eBay (item 140198080049 end time Jan-19-08 08:35:48 PST) for $14.95 and $9 UPS shipping for $23.95 total arrived.  However, it did not come with its power supply.  I switched it around with the one that I already had using its power supply, and I updated its firmware, and I configured it.  The one that arrived today works just great.  I tested the other unit that I had taken off with a 12 volt 500 mA transformer that I had, and it works as well as with the Coba multivolt unit.  However, since they are on all of the time, I searched the net, and I ordered two Computers Plus - Detailed Product Information Netgear POWER ADAPTER FOR PS113/PS110 12VDC 800MA for $8.21 each and $10 charge for under $90 order plus UPS ground shipping of $8.56 for $34.98 total.  Now I will have the original new power supply for the unit that I got today, and a spare one for the three units in total that I have.  Since one of them runs all of the time with the server, I feel it is necessary to have the backup parts.  It is a modest expense to support my overall operation.  I put the other Netgear Router in its box with the 500mA power adapter that works with it.  I transferred the D-link router with its Siemens power supply to the Linksys box the Netgear router arrived with today.  I chatted with a friend.  CIO

Windows Server 2008 launch, free software to attendees Heroes Happen Here :: Register For an Event

I registered for the New York General attendees Infrastructure IT Pro event, but I will have to wait to see if I am accepted.  If excepted, I am not sure whether I will attend.  Generally I avoid Manhattan for security reasons.  Not that it would be dangerous for me, but I am not very good at crossing busy city streets and dealing with traffic and lots of people, and the large amount of noise frequently disorients me.  It would be too costly to go to Hartford.  I already have three licenses of Windows Server 2008 as a beta tester, but I am not sure whether they expire or not.  It a most excellent server program, and it is hardly ever hacked, but the reason I do not always run it is that it does not have footers for

Mike Scott's Stats and Ads .  Also some of my programs do not work with it as a server, and I already have a copy of XP Professional that I am using on the server. CIO

Note: <888> 01/22/08 Tuesday 3:35 A.M..  I put the 12 inch Griswold frying pan on the large electric burner on medium high to medium electric burner heat, and I fried four strips of bacon, flipping them several times.  I then drained them with two paper towels on a plate.  I poured the bacon grease into a fat jar that I keep in the refrigerator.  I had already broken three extra large jumbo eggs in a metal bowl, and I added a tablespoon of milk and a few dashes of Italian seasoning, and I used a whisk to mix it all together.  I then put a couple of tablespoons of olive oil and a couple of pads of 50% less fat butter in the hot Griswold frying pan on medium electric burner heat, and once the fat bubbled, I added the egg mixture, and once the eggs began to harden, I scrambled them with a spatula.  At the same time I toasted a bagel, which I spread two pads of 50% less butter on each half.  I ate it all with a glass of iced tea.  Back during the oil embargo of the early 1970s, we mostly lived on scrambled eggs, English muffins and bacon, and coffee, which usually after being up all night patrolling New York City, we would have at some convenient diner or restaurant for about $2.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/22/08 Tuesday 2:15 A.M..  I woke up at 8:30 P.M.  I ate a 1/5th piece of apple pie.  I went out, and I went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought a dozen extra large jumbo eggs for $2.49 which expire February 16, 2008, a two pound bag of baby carrots for $2.99, Chiquita bananas at .54 a pound for $1.71, and broccoli crowns at $1.99 a pound for $2.21 for $9.40 total.  I chatted with a couple of staff like I always do.   There are signs posted in the dairy section saying that the price of milk and dairy products are going up world wide.  It takes a lot of expensive feed to feed dairy cows, so since feed is more expensive, their products go up.  I then went by the Greenwich Automotive Exxon Service station, and I bought $6 of self service premium unleaded gasoline at $3.799 a gallon for 1.58 gallons for 10.5 miles driving and 45 minutes idling for the last six days since last Tuesday at odometer reading of 59,457 miles for 6.646 miles per gallon with all of the idling that I have been doing.  I then went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.  I noticed they still have the old vintage Mercedes 220 SE convertible for sale at Carriage House Motors.  They are painting the show room.  The Greenwich Taxi stand waiting room is quite warm, and they just painted it, and the taxi drivers were gambling with dice.  From the Greenwich Train Station Plaza, I could see the usual amount of traffic on I-95, so lots of people are still driving.  There were no computer items discarded at the train station parking dumpster area.  I walked up to the top of Greenwich Avenue and back down.  I noticed at the top of Greenwich Avenue in the first parking space in front of the Chase Bank www.chase.com , there is a small blue Toyota always parked there.  It is a Toyota Yaris http://www.toyota.com/yaris/index.html , so that must be an inexpensive high miles per gallon car.  The former manager of the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop use to drive a Hyundai Accent or similar model, before she retired to Rhode Island.  After I finished my walk, I drove back down on the waterfront on Steamboat Road, and the retired U.S. Army colonel is back at his house on the end of the road on the left with his black Mercedes Benz from Maryland.  He looks like a younger version of my diseased step father, so maybe he is related.  The senior former military person in the area, probably still would be Al Haig, since he was a five star general.   Of course in Brazil, they have 20 star generals that nobody pays any attention to.  The lights seemed to be still working out on Long Island, and it is a clear view across Long Island Sound.  The Benedict house is all lighted up, so maybe the Tammany Hall New York politicians are out here again.  I then returned home.  It is a bit cold in my apartment, and it is currently 64.6 degrees Fahrenheit in the apartment.  I am wearing my leisure clothes, my Gap long underwear and my L.L. Bean long underwear with a knit blue Rossignol :: Pure mountain company ski cap that I found on Greenwich Avenue last winter. I also have on my wool socks and new fleece lined house slippers and to be a bit warmer, I am wearing a baby blue wool scarf.  It sort of feels like one were sitting outside on a fall day.  Not much going on here.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/21/08 Monday 1:50 P.M..  I chatted with a relative.  The telephone rang twice, but nobody was there, and I went downstairs to see if a package had arrived.  There was no package, but the elevator is out of order, and the Greenwich Housing Authority has been called.  It worked fine this morning, when I did my laundry.  I also had a computer magazine telephone call. While doing that, once the pot of water began to boil, I added a 16 ounce box of Barillo fettuccini, and I boiled it for 12 minutes stirring it occassionally. After every meal, I clean up the dishes, although I never mention it in my notes.  I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go to bed soon.  Stay warm. Note: <888> 01/21/08 Monday 10:25 A.M..  Around the apartment today in the colder temperature of the apartment, I am wearing the L.L. Bean red long underwear over my leisure clothes with my red heavy duty terry cloth robe and a heavy blue knit Speedo cap and my new wool lined house slippers with heavy wool socks.  I will not wear the new house slippers outside the building to keep them clean on the bottom.  I have an older pair to wear for brief trips outside the building.  The inside temperature of the living room is currently 68 degrees Fahrenheit.  I went downstairs, and I chatted with a couple of neighbors.  They told me the New England patriots and the New York Giants will be playing in the Superbowl in Arizona.  I opened a package of chicken Ramen noodles, and I put them in a quart Rubbermaid container with the ingredients of the flavor package, and I covered them with water, and I put the lid with a hole on top, and I microwaved them on one beverage cycle, and then I put them in a bowl with a little Italian seasoning on them.  I ate it with a glass of iced tea.  I chatted with another one of my friends just back in Manhattan from Georgia.  They were at Madison Avenue and 86th street, and I suggested that they stop by Bloomingdales at 86th street and 3rd Avenue on the northwest corner to get heavy knit caps.  Southern people never dress warm enough for New York City.  I mentioned a delicatessen that use to be just east of 3rd Avenue on the south side of 86th street, but they told me it was gone.  At mid block between 84th street and 85th street on the east side of third avenue, there used to be the Old Dutch Deli, and I recall a block further south on the same side, there use to be a Hungarian restaurant that served goulash for about $2, but that all was in the early 1970s, so times might have changed.  In very cold weather cell phone batteries do not last as long.  I will now go through my email.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/21/08 Monday 7:25 A.M..  I put away the laundry.  I have to air dry the red wool Pendleton shirt and the white wool long underwear.  The grey synthetic long underwear from the gap, I machine dried.  I showered, and I cleaned up.  I put on the new pair Two-Layer Union Suit, Men's: Hunting Gear and Apparel at L.L.Bean in XX Large Tall in color red for $34.95 and $5.95 shipping for $40.90.  They are so warm and comfortable, I turned down the living room heat to 60 degrees Fahrenheit, and I turned off the two tower fans.  I then went outside, and I threw out 15 old eggs and the garbage, and it was 13 degrees Fahrenheit according to the 1998 Audi A6 owned by Michael Scott temperature gauge, and it started right up the first try immediately without a seconds delay.  It speaks well for quality German engineering.  It had not been started since this past Thursday.  It has a four year old NAPA battery that was put in up in Kennebunkport, Maine four years ago.  I idled it for 25 minutes to charge up its battery, and I set the internal heat to maximum, so the Audi is fully warmed up.  I did a system check, and it came up "OK".  Thus I would say it is a very reliable car for starting on a cold winter's day.  It idles at 800 RPM, so it probably was not using as much gasoline as it would if one were driving it for the same period.  It takes a while for the heated driver's seat to warm up, and I think it comes on automatically, since I could not find a switch for it.  I only have used 9.1 miles on a full tank of gasoline, but I have idled it all together about 40 minutes on two different occasions.  I also sat out briefly for a while.  It is biting cold out, so one has to dress for the conditions.  I wore my heavy red terry cloth robe over my long underwear when I went out, but I did not wear gloves, and when sitting outside, my hands started to get a bit cold.  I emptied the outside ashtray at the north end of the building.  I could hear a neighbor coughing continually in an apartment nearby, but I am not sure which one.  I guess I will now do a little bit of regular computer work.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/21/08 Monday 4:50 A.M..  I turned the living room thermostat back up to 78 degrees Fahrenheit, and I still have the two tower fans going to blow the heat around the apartment.  After the laundry is done in five minutes, I will put it away.  I will then shower and clean up, which I have not done since this past Thursday.  The only thing I really need downtown is bananas, and I don't think it is worth making a special trip downtown in cold weather to get bananas.  Current outside temperature is 13 degrees Fahrenheit.  The Audi use to be left in the garage in Kennebunkport, Maine all winter, and only started up once a week or so, so I don't think it will hurt it, if I don't start it up every day.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/21/08 Monday 3:45 A.M..  The apartment is warm enough, so I turned the living room thermostat down to 70 degrees fahrenheit, and I turned the bedroom thermostat down to 60 degrees Fahrenheit.  I am doing two loads of laundry, and I am also doing a third load to wash the white quilted cover from the Ethan Allen recliner.  I put clean linens on the bed.  I have 10 minutes to go on the wash cycle.  I will eat breakfast during the dry cycle.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/21/08 Monday 2:35 A.M..   I woke up at midnight, and I also had a telephone call from a friend earlier that is back in Manhattan, and I might have had a telephone call from a relative.  It is currently 15 degreed Fahrenheit outside, and it is suppose to go down to 10 degrees Fahrenheit this morning.  On this web page Compuvest Corp. Switches , they show this refurbished item regularly $460 for $20 Compuvest Corp. Nortel BayStack 450-24T Switch Ethernet 10/100Mbps 24-Ports Refurbished AL2012A14  and $23.61 FedEx shipping which would be $43.61 total.  It weights 11.7 pounds, and it is 17.4 inches long, which is if I got it, it would require me to have the Minolta 1250W printer stand sitting on it with about 15 pounds of weight.  It seems to sturdy enough to support it.  However, it is a stackable Ethernet switch, and I am not tech savvy to know if it would work with my current system or not, or if it would need other components.  Right now I do not really need it, but it is an option if I needed an inexpensive replacement for my 16 port Netgear FS516.  In an emergency, I have the 8 port D-link switch and the 4 port Netgear switch which could be connected together for 13 ports.  I feel in the colder weather it is important to keep a little bit of money in reserve towards the end of the month.  The Audi has been starting up all right after three days of not being used in the winter.  I also have two heavy duty jump start systems if there was a problem.  The Audi's battery has a cover, so if one had to jump it, the cover underneath the hood would have to be removed some how.  I will now eat breakfast of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted bagel with olive oil, orange and grape and cranraspberry juice with vitamins and supplements and coffee with milk and splenda sweetener.  It is currently 70.2 degrees Fahrenheit inside the apartment.  I have a dozen eggs that I bought November 30, 2007, but this Ask Mr Breakfast -- When do eggs go bad? How long do they last after the date on the package?  says they would not be any good.  I keep forgetting to eat some eggs recently, and they always seem to go bad, before I eat them.  Maybe I am living too high on the hog.  Anyway, I will throw out the eggs.  CIO

I ate a piece of apple pie.

Well, even though its cold, it is a sunny day.

Swiss Sausage Crisis: How Bad? , my father once built a sausage casing factory for TeePak in Columbia, South Carolina, or somewhere near there.

Well, to be truthful, I once visited San Clemente, California to see the former house of Richard Nixon on the beach.  What surprised me it was on the north side of the entrance to Camp Pendleton, the U.S. Marine Corps base www.marine.mil , however I noticed a lot of long haired surfer types in the downtown area just outside the base.  I was told they were military brats, and they had their own sense of style.  That was back in 1978, so they must be old men by now.

Of course, they are use to warmer weather out there, so they probably do not make it up into the north country very much, unless they learn to travel.  What is interesting is that a great many California people are content where they are, and they have no interest in exploring Back East as they say. Ronald Reagan was if I am not mistake the third president from California, and Richard Nixon was the second one, and Herbert Hoover was the first one.  I once read that if California were a separate country, it would be the sixth largest economy in the world, so there must be quite a bit of money out there, unlike the economically ravaged New York area.  When www.exxon.com was headquartered in Manhattan and when www.texaco.com was headquartered in White Plains, New York, there was a lot more prosperity in this area.  Recently it just seems to be financial people handing foreign investments for unknown parties, and the old time residents have been pretty much left out in the cold so to speak.  When I worked for a German American family in 1982 for a year out in Long Island, they paid me $1.15 an hour for 7,000 hours of construction work, so they are not really enjoyable to work for, if you get my drift.  Whatever the real case, rich people have lawyers, so if one complains they just hide behind their lawyers.  I have a feeling if it has happened to me, it has happened to a lot of other people.  Up in Nantucket, the last nine months I worked there in 1983, I made $8.75 an hour, but at age 33 as a dishwasher, I was being burnt out working all of the time trying to afford to live on the rather expensive island.  I recall I left the island with about a $100 check and that was it after nine months of work.  I also did not drink alcohol very much on Nantucket, I would occasionally have a beer.  I might have looked like I was drinking since I was working over 80 hour weeks in a very hot sweaty job.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/20/08 Sunday 2:00 P.M..   I don't drink alcohol, but I know the Food Emporium in Port Chester, New York has a large alcohol and beer section, and if I am not mistaken in New York State, one can buy liquor on Sundays.  It comes from the fact that with 40 million people living within a hundred miles of Manhattan, there are all sorts of people working different work schedules 24 hours a day seven days a week, so the local New York state merchants try to meet their customers' needs as fits their schedules.  In my frequent calls to www.whitehouse.gov , it seems they only work 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. five week days, so not as much gets done compared to a larger group of people whom seem to work around the clock all of the time.  Of course, when one works longer hours, one has to pace oneself.  A lot of it comes from experience.  CIO

Plus $2.99 rush order fee and Less $2.99 preferred account fee and $8.34 one day delivery which would possibly mean this Tuesday or Wednesday for $98.33 total, since even in the best of times, I can not really afford it, and if something happens to my current Netgear switch, I still have the older eight port switch.  Currently, I am only using 12 switches on my 16 port Netgear switch, and I have only five lights turned on when I run the primary and server computers.  It is nice to have backup parts, but I might want to drive my Audi a little bit more now that I don't have much computer work to do anymore.  Since I have done this computer activity for a lot of years, and since I am getting older, I might want to continue with my computer activity, but I might want to refocus some of my energy into other directions besides computers, the internet, exercise walking, and daily maintenance routines.  Although it has kept me busy, I grew up before the personal computer and the internet revolution, so I try to keep in focus some of the other cultural skills I might have learned in the larger world around us.  Since Redmond, Washington is way out in the boon docks, I do not expect their newly minted money to have the same pan age as some of the old guard types whom manage to survive around here.  Quite frankly in Greenwich, Connecticut a bottle of Jack Daniels jackdaniels.com makes more friends than a laptop computer.  Having lived down south around kindly gentle southern people, I know that they work hard, but they also seem to have a certain cultural pattern of enjoying certain social functions, and if one really wanted to know where the cheapest 1.75 liter bottle of Jack Daniels is at the Riverside Shopping Plaza at the A&P liquor store, but they are not opened on Sunday in Connecticut, because we still have blue laws.  Alas having worked in resorts for many years, I have learned to cater to the visiting clientele whom usually seem to be able to afford to pay their bills.  Thus we are not in debt anymore.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/20/08 Sunday 12:50 P.M..  I chatted with a relative.  I watched part of a Zorro movie on television.  I used the Swivel Sweeper to do a light cleaning of my carpets, and I am now charging its battery pack which takes about two hours.  It is handy for picking of light amounts of traffic debris.  It is suppose to go down to 10 degrees Fahrenheit tonight, so it might be a bit colder in the apartment without the electric heat on, but the apartment seems to be retaining its heat.  I suppose with the lights, electronics, and appliances, they might generate a bit of heat.  I turn on the Honeywell Hepa air purifier for a couple of hours when I cook with onions.  I will try to stay up until about 5 P.M. today, so I will be back on more of a daytime schedule.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/20/08 Sunday 11:35 A.M..  I chatted with the United States Army Military police at 1-845-938-3333 United States Military Academy CONTRACT SERVICES FAQ over at www.usma.edu , and they told me that only people with United States Military Department of Defense Military Identification can use the Post Commissary and buy their product line at military discount prices.  I wonder if they sell gasoline over there at discount prices too.  I threw out the garbage.  One of my neighbors has a large mirror in the back of his pick up truck, so it causes a lot of glare in the parking area outside, and probably distorts the satellite view of the area.   Since 1959, the www.nasa.gov spy satellites could read the fine printing on a Marlboro box, if you get my drift wood.  When I was down in Key West, Florida, and I left in 1978 with a friend whose grandfather was a colonel in the U.S. Army based in Atlanta, Georgia, I explained to him I read about the www.dartmouth.com United States Army Cold Weather Studies program, but I could never afford to drive that far north to see what it is all about up in the snow belt.  From what I know, we are just keyboard jockeys down here around www.ibm.com , and not many people seem to think whatever IBM does is very important in terms of some of the personnel that might be in the area.  Of course in the old days, they called IBM, "I've Been Moved", the local Italian Mafia called it "Italian Business Machines", the tobacco salesman from Houston, Texas I once met up around the www.hughes.com facility in Danbury, Connecticut called it "Ity Bitty Minds", so whatever the real presence of IBM in the world today is opened to debate.  I was told that Armonk, New York is just a display museum of some of the older products that they used to make, so maybe they are doing something more modern in other parts of the world.  Of course their primary business has not been involved in the personal computer business for a long time, so unless one is ready to shell out big bucks for a Super Computer that might become quickly outdated and know how to use it and service it, you would be wasting your cigarette money bothering them.  From what I know which is not much, IBM is a professional business company, but it costs a lot of money to deal with them in this environment.  For example a Firewall program from IBM can cost over a $100,000 ; thus possibly it might actually work.  I chatted with some neighbors.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/20/08 Sunday 9:45 A.M.. Earlier I reset the Northgate Syntax Vista RC1 beta installation, so its final date of use it February 19, 2008.  After that I can install the final release version good for another four months or as long as I feel like reinstalling it and configuring it which takes quite a bit of time.  Currently it is 20 degrees Fahrenheit outside Greenwich, Connecticut (06830) Conditions & Forecast : Weather Underground , and it is 68.4 degrees Fahrenheit inside in the living room with the living room thermostat set at 50 degrees Fahrenheit.  Hopefully I am saving a bit of money on my www.cl-p.com bill without keeping the apartment heat too high.  Since we live in an active business community, we frequently have a lot of business travelers in the area, but nobody ever contacts me, since I am not in business.  From what I can tell, the cost of doing business and traveling to this area is very expensive, so usually only those corporate individuals whom are well financed seem to be able to afford to travel into this area.

Hawaii discovered by Captain James Cook on this day January 20, 1778.  So Europeans have only been going to Hawaii for 230 years Hawaii --  Britannica Online Encyclopedia .  Maybe Jimmy Eldert is really Maui Jim.  It was my understanding that Captain James Cook was eaten by cannibals on one his trips to Hawaii.  Cooks Travel use to be in Greenwich, Connecticut, so maybe all of the rest of their customers were also eaten by cannibals, and nobody ever returned to tell the story.  I actually have been to Hawaii, but I was darkly tanned, and I dressed up a like I was from the Philippines, so maybe they did not realize I was European American.   When I am darkly tanned, I have more of a French look, which some people mistake for a Spanish look.  I have been to Spain, and the Spanish tend not to be very tanned, particularly in the winter.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/20/08 Sunday 8:05 A.M..  I printed out a paper copy of my computer list.  It runs 48 pages.  I put it on the Toshiba laptop with the Internet Beach Bum print out.  Earlier I ate two bowls of goldfish crackers.  I will now eat the same dinner as the last of four nights consisting of a sautéed burger with onions and cheese along with a microwaved potato with three pads of 50% less fat butter and a cup of microwaved steamed baby carrots and broccoli crowns along with a glass of iced tea.  Seems to be all quiet on the eastern front.  The reality of this area in the daytime is that there is an extremely large population density, but late at night and the morning hours, it is mostly like being the Maytag repairman.  They've returned Freemasons return to Greenwich - Greenwich Time .  I remember in the old days, they use to drive around in go carts at the St. Patrick's Day parade.  Granddad Scott was a 33rd degree Scottish Rite mason from the Champaign, Illinois lodge. My father was always too busy working to have time for fraternal organizations.  Much could be said for the same as me.  I noticed in the article they have a bar in their lodge and police officers are involved in the organization, so I guess they have to walk to and from their meetings, since Greenwich, Connecticut has an extremely tough drinking alcohol and driving law enforcement. I guess they could ride a bicycle to their meetings.  Some old timers drink, so they don't have to listen to their wives all of the time.  Tom Watson of www.ibm.com was a mason, and so was Gerald R. Ford.  I have an old broken dinner plate in my apartment by the toilet from the Putnam Lodge Masonic lodge, but those were the days when Greenwich, Connecticut was a farming community with lots of trees, so there was more heat and food with a working railroad carrying coal and working farms.  Alas the high tech business community seem to earn a lot of money here, but they do not seem to spend that much money here, since most them are New York City residents.  CIO

I am currently using a Netgear FS516 that I bought as a refurbished item for $44 two years ago, and since it runs all of the time, I thought at the rebate price of about $68.33 with shipping for a new item, it was worth buying.  I charged it, instead of paying for it.  Thus I am back in debt again.  I have an older 8 port D-link switch that might be handy in an emergency, but now I will be able use my older Netgear FS516 for backup.  It does take a lot of time and money to maintain the rather complex computer systems setup that I maintain in my apartment.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/20/08 Sunday 1:00 A.M..  I chatted with two friends after the last note.  I told one friend that is involved with race horses that the locals down in Ocala, Florida are eating their race horses, since they can not afford to feed them.  A relative told me about the story from www.tcpalm.com .  The Vero Beach newspaper is owned by the www.nytimes.com , so it should have fairly reliable news.  I had email back from a Taft classmate asking what about Watch Hill, Rhode Island.  I replied that I had never been to Watch Hill, Rhode Island, but my father had a friend Harvey Thayer who was an engineer at www.polaroid.com , and he had a summer place at Watch Hill, Rhode Island.  From what I know Watch Hill, Rhode Island is suppose to be a traditional New England summer community.  I think the old hotel there is only opened in the summer and not in the winter.  I went to bed about 2 P.M.  I had a telephone call from a relative.  I woke up at 10 P.M..  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted bagel with olive oil, orange and grape and cranraspberry juice with vitamins and supplements and coffee with milk and splenda sweetener.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  I made my bed.  I threw out some garbage, and I checked the Audi, and I picked up my mail.  Things are not any better or worse here than they have ever been.  This is pretty much the same type of routine that I have been through, since I first moved here in 1961.  However, since I now live in a smaller apartment instead of a big house, I have more free time for my internet activity and other computer activity, where as when one lives in a larger house, there is always a lot more to do.  I am not going downtown as much, since the energy to go downtown might come in more handy to keep my apartment warmer if it gets colder.  There was plenty of people whom live downtown, so they do not need me down there all of the time, since they are tending to stay more local anymore.  It is currently 66 degrees Fahrenheit in my apartment with the living room thermostat turned down to 50 degrees Fahrenheit, and one tends to get use to it after a while.  A friend of mine from Vermont says he keeps his apartment at 68 degrees Fahrenheit at St. Mary's By the Sea in East Fairfield Beach, Connecticut a condominium complex on the waterfront which is part of Bridgeport, Connecticut.  Since he works at Country Living Associates Richard Van Marter, Wilton, Connecticut , and he moved out of Redding, Connecticut since he got Lyme disease four times in three years, so hopefully around the waterfront, there are less deer tick, but that is not the case in Old Lyme, Connecticut.  He paid $225,000 each for two 1250 square foot one bedroom condos on the waterfront, and he pays $225 a month maintenance on each and $1,200 a year in property tax on each, and he rents one to pay for the other.  Since he is in the town of Bridgeport, Connecticut he is part of their school district with less taxes than Fairfield, but he claims the fresh produce is cheaper as is the price of fuel.  He says the electric bills in his apartment are only about $60 a month, but I would imagine, that does not include the heat.  Thus being in real estate in this area that is the decision he made.  I showed him property in Greenwich, Connecticut for 22 years, and although he looked at a number of places for less than $400,000 many years ago, he never bought here.  Originally he could have bought a house on Steamboat Road for less than $350,000.  Now I don't think there is anything there for less than $2,000,000; so he would have made money, if he had bought here.  I am not going downtown as much anymore, also because at my age, I get a bit uncomfortable walking and sitting out in the cold at night, and I am quite comfortable in my own apartment.  CIO

I then cleaned out the center desk drawer in the mahogany desk that I bought for $20 at a tag sale up on King Street 19 years ago, when I first moved in here.  It is a lot neater drawer now.  I sorted the various items in the desk to other locations where they fit better.  I threw out the old Radio Shack calculator which does not work even with new batteries that I tried.  When one is not hacked, one has more time for other types of activities.  I then moved around some pictures.  I moved the picture of President Bush and Laura Bush www.whitehouse.gov from on top of the Minolta PagePro 1350W laser printer in the living room to far left of the kitchen above the smoking chair.  I put the framed letter from Queen Elizabeth II saying she looked forward to her visit to Williamsburg, Virginia on the samelaser printer in the living room.  I moved from the kitchen location, the old dinner plate of St. Paul's church in Manhattan, and I hung it on the top left inside of the apartment door, and on the top far right inside, I move the Holiday 2007 Christmas letter from President Bush and family.  I put a lot of the other older presidential and vice presidential greetings in my current photo album in the center hallway bookcase.  I took out the NASA Space Shuttle launch picture from behind the bed, and I moved it on top of the Dell monitor on the right side of the bedroom window, so it is now displayed.  I used a pink paper clip to secure it, so it does not slide off.  I used another empty plastic frame, and I put in a new $2 bill that I was sent for a survey and the Bermuda and the Great Britain automobile  oval stickers, and I hung them to the left of the tern picture above the bed.  I took out an empty frame with out glass, and I put the Martha's Vineyard North Water Street print in it, and I hung it on the lower outside of my apartment entrance door.  I hung the small Bermuda flag on the upper part of the door, from the nail, I use for my Christmas wreath.  I sewed up my old change purse that had ripped, and I now have it available for use along with the identical new one that I am using to carry change around.  I have two new fancy ones in my left top mahogany bureau drawer in the bedroom,  but I have not used them yet.  All of the apartment tweaking takes a bit of time.   I will now cook and eat the same dinner at the last three nights.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/18/08 Friday 11:55 P.M..  It is going to be a little bit cold in here without the electric heat turned on in my apartment, when on Sunday night it is 12 degrees Fahrenheit 7-Day Forecast for Latitude 41.05N and Longitude -73.65W .  Joe Kennedy was on television last night advertising CITIZENS ENERGY , but alas I am in an all electric retirement home, so heating oil does not do us much good except for the emergency generator which only powers the emergency lights, and not the electric heat.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/18/08 Friday 11:15 P.M..  I woke up at 2:30 P.M. this afternoon.  I chatted with a relative.  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted bagel with olive oil, orange and grape and cranraspberry juice with vitamins and supplements and coffee with milk and splenda sweetener.  I went back to bed until 9 P.M.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  I made my bed.  I threw out the garbage and the old periodical literature.  I watered the plants.  Not much happening in this neck of the woods, but I hear more airplane traffic than normal, so possibly people are arriving at Westchester County Airport Westchester County - AirportMonitor - by Megadata - powered by PASSUR to enjoy the Doral Arrowwood Resort - Rye Brook, New York - Westchester County NY or some of the other nearby deluxe hotels in White Plains, New York where the Rockefeller family associates Rockefeller Sites run the World from.  In the book on W. Note: <888> 01/18/08 Friday 6:20 A.M..  I deleted some of the earlier Vista betas from the C: and the D: drives.  I then did a Vista Complete PC backup from the first hard drive to the second hard drive.  On the C: 149 GB drive, I have 64.7 GB left.  On the 186 GB D: drive, I have 51.7 GB left.  I watched some television while doing all of that.  I guess, although the computers seem to be running fine, the planet seems to be having problems again Thousands flee volcanic eruption in Colombia - CNN.com .  On the Saturday before Christmas when I did not yet have my Audi, I walked downtown to get my Christmas dinner.  While waiting for the bus back, I chatted with one of the produce workers at the Stop and Shop who is from Columbia, and he told me about the volcanic problem.  I told him that Lawrence Livermore Laboratory Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory about five years ago got a billion dollar grant for monitoring volcanic activity.   I told him that I just know how to run the computers, and that I read the Volcano reports from the Smithsonian Global Volcanism Program | Volcanic Activity Reports | SI / USGS Weekly Volcanic Activity Report , and there is more at http://www.volcano.si.edu/reports/usgs/#huila and Portal Corporativo de INGEOMINAS - Inicio .  A lot of web sites seem to use the Adobe Flash Player, but I do not have its plug-in installed anymore, since the plug-in makes my Vista Internet Explorer web browser crash.  I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go to bed soon.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/18/08 Friday 2:05 A.M..  Earlier today, when I downloaded the 64 bit and the 64 bit N versions of Vista SP1 RC final, with the new used Netgear router, I got 1600 KBPS second download speeds which is over twice as fast as the highest speeds I have gotten from http://connect.microsoft.com/ .  I burned two copies of each to DVD.  I finished configuring the Vista Ultimate SP1 RC final partition on the Epox backup computer.  I also backed it up with the XP partition from the first hard drive to the second hard drive.  I am now defragging the Vista partition.   With the final release of the beta, I can reactivate it three times after 30 days each time for 120 days total, so I will have to either reinstall and configure it around May 16, 2008, or I could just live with XP Professional on the Epox backup computer.  About the only difference from the earlier betas that I noticed is that it has night time cloud and stars view of Fjord which makes a good dark back ground wall paper on the desktop.   I put the tea in the refrigerator to become iced tea.  I ate a 1/5th piece of apple pie.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/17/08 Thursday 8:55 P.M..  I made and ate the same dinner as last night.  I am making up a batch of Formula One http://mikelouisscott.com/icetea.htm .  I chatted with a relative.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/17/08 Thursday 6:50 P.M..  I took the World Map Art by Joan Blaeu at AllPosters.com for $4.98 and Map of the World Prints by Richard Blome at AllPosters.com for $5.98, and I used "THNKU81" for free shipping through January 9, 2008 for $10.96 total, and I put them in the long frame that I had taken down, and I hung it vertically behind the bedroom door.  Underneath the maps is the old poster of Innsbruck, Austria I bought when I was in Innsbruck about 22 years ago.  It was one of the original pieces of artwork in my current apartment, when I moved in 19 years ago.  The new maps are pictured here http://mikelouisscott.com/mls-apt-011708/ .  CIO

Note: <888> 01/17/08 Thursday 5:25 P.M..  I went out after the last note.  I went by the George Weston Bakeries Arnold Bread outlet, and I bought two six packs of New York Everything bagels for .99 each six pack, and a 26 ounce Entenmann's homestyle apple pie for $2.25 for $4.23 total.  I then went by the Chase Bank on Mason Street, and I used their ATM machine, and I got some parking change.  They no longer take in the quarters from the town meters, so they do not have as many quarters as they use to have.  I then stopped by Peabody's garage, and I showed them my Audi, and I told them how I had sold the Buick wagon.  I then went to my usual 3 P.M. appointment.  I then returned home.  I chatted with the building custodian.  The Two-Layer Union Suit, Men's: Hunting Gear and Apparel at L.L.Bean in XX Large Tall in color red for $34.95 and $5.95 shipping for $40.90 arrived.  I unpacked the red union suit, and I hung it on the bathroom door with the other pair.  This order also arrived UPS: Tracking Information on my order for Men: Men's Knit Hats: Clearance: Bargains | Old Navy for $2.49, and five different types in extra large of Men: Men's Holiday Boxers: Boxers & Sleepwear: Bargains | Old Navy for $1.99 each and $5 shipping for $17.44 total.  I opened up the boxer shorts, and I put them away in the mahogany bureau in the living room with the other boxer shorts.  I put the white knit cap with the other caps on the back of the down sofa in the living room.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/17/08 Thursday 12:45 P.M..  I downloaded the full installs of Vista SP1 RC final for X86, 64 bit and 64 bit N, and I burned two copies of the X86 to DVD.  I was not able to reactivate the Vista SP1 RC on the Epox computer, so I installed the newer version, which should be good for four months with reactivation.  I am in the process of configuring it.  I will burn the Vista SP1 RC final 64 bit versions to DVD later on.  I threw out some garbage.  I picked up my mail.  The two map posters arrived.  I microwaved a  18.8 ounce can of Campbell's New England clam chowder, and I ate it with a glass of ice tea.  I will shut down both computers shortly, and I will shower and clean up, and I will go out for my 3 P.M. appointment.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/17/08 Thursday 7:45 A.M..  I was awake at 5 A.M..  I did some bottom fishing on the internet.  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted bagel with olive oil, orange and grape and cranraspberry juice with vitamins and supplements and coffee with milk and splenda sweetener.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  I made my bed.  I chatted briefly with a friend.  I will now install the Netgear router printer server driver on the Dell backup computer in the bedroom.  I will then try to reactivate the Vista partitions on the Northgate and Epox backup computers.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/16/08 Wednesday 6:05 P.M..  I installed the Netgear Router Printer server driver on the XP and Vista partitions on the Epox and Northgate backup computers.  I also installed it on the Toshiba laptop.  I also installed the other updates.  I installed the driver on the XP partition on the FIC server, and I am now running the FIC server with the XP IIS server.  At Speakeasy - Speed Test with Optimum Boost, I am getting 16851 kbps download and 4639 kbps upload speed.  I chatted with a relative.  I still need to install the Netgear Router Printer server driver on the Dell backup computer in the bedroom, but I do not at the moment feel like making my bed, so I can get at it.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/16/08 Wednesday 3:05 P.M..  With the Netgear FR114P router which is three to five years old technology, I am getting twice the download speed as with the D-Link 704P router.  At Speakeasy - Speed Test with Optimum Boost, I am getting 14787 kbps download and 4441 kbps upload speed.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/16/08 Wednesday 2:35 P.M..  After breakfast I washed the breakfast dishes, and I threw out the garbage and the Netgear router shipping box.  I picked up my mail.  I will now update the flash ware on the Netgear router.  I will then install the Netgear router network printer drivers on the other three networked computers.  I did not make my bed in case I need to take a nap.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/16/08 Wednesday 1:15 P.M..  I had a telephone call from a relative at 10 A.M..  I optimized the C: drive on the Vista computer while I was asleep.  About 11 A.M., the NetGear FR114P Router/Firewall - eBay (item 140198480694 end time Jan-13-08 16:39:21 PST) for $14.95 and $12.90 priority mail shipping for $27.85 total arrived.  I removed the D-link router, and I hooked up the new Netgear Router.  It was fairly easy to setup, and I have it all working just fine with the FIC server too.  It was simple to set up my Lexmark E238 laser printer on the Netgear Router printer port network.  I still have to install the latest firmware on the Netgear router, but it is all working just fine.  I put the D-link router in the Netgear router box.  I will now eat breakfast of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted bagel with olive oil, orange and grape and cranraspberry juice with vitamins and supplements and coffee with milk and splenda sweetener.  Without using the electric heat, the living room apartment is down to 69.3 degrees Fahrenheit.  What gave me the idea to turn down the heat more besides reducing the expense was on the Saturday before Christmas, when I was at the Stop and Shop in the early morning, I chatted with one of their managers, and he told me he kept his house at 62 degrees Fahrenheit.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/16/08 Wednesday 1:55 A.M..  I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go to bed soon.  Maybe now that Vista beta testing is over, and besides that I have been doing a lot of bottom fishing on the internet along with going through my email, I was thinking I should refocus my internet activities in some other more productive internet activity.  I will have to think about that some time.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/14/08 Monday 6:15 A.M..  I watched a PBS television show in HDTV about Digital High Definition television, but I guess I have not figured out how to use my HDTV system yet.  The younger geneation is suppose to be cleaver at using some of the more modern devices.  I watched a program about a Shanty Irish mechanic trying to improve the bicycle, and he came up with www.ford.com .  From what I know the Ford Motor Company is basically like Brown Brothers Harriman, and it is mostly a private company with 40% owned by the family and 40% owned by the Foundation, and probably the various company pension funds own the other 20%, and each Ford Motor Company operation in each separate country is a separate franchise, so basically different individuals might own more in terms of the overseas operations.  I think the Ford is the most popular car in England, and I once read that Henry Ford let Margaret Thatcher use his apartment in London, England, so she would not have to live above the grocery store where her real house was.  Thus from what I know a lot of successful people live somewhat simply at home, so they can be more profitable at work.  CIO

Maybe Jimmy Eldert of Malibu, California whose grandmother was from one of the founding GM Families with the last name Joy like in Joy street in Boston or the Joy family monument in Nantucket is actually involved with a little money from www.gm.com , but since the surfing is not too good in Michigan, he does not pay much attention to them.  However, he does have relatives, so more than likely he is still driving the old 1965 white Mustang coupe.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/14/08 Monday 4:00 A.M..   I also ate the last potato that I baked with the chicken after I microwaved the potato on a potato cycle.  Potatoes in bulk weigh a bit more, so they cost more to transport, so more than likely like apples, they have gone up in price.  I currently weight 210 pounds, so at six feet tall, I am not exactly starving.  However, there is nothing, but what I can afford to do regularly that diverts my attention from my computer and internet activity.  Since I am mostly an observer, when I am downtown on my frequent walks, and since I have been frequently on a night schedule over all of these years, I am not really networked with the powers that be in the local community.

There are a lot of skinny rich women in the area known as "Trophy Wives", so since their older husbands might be suffering from the local economic down turn, more than likely they might find this item handy, if they start to fell cold in this area Ultrawarm Coat, Long: Casual Coats and Jackets at L.L.Bean for women $124.95 plus shipping.  Skinny women with less body fat probably feel the cold more.  The full length down coat was a very popular coat in Manhattan during the oil embargo of the early 1970s, before I went down south in 1976, and started networking with some of the people whom own and produce the energy that we currently use in this area.  Alas, with all of their wealth, they probably no longer remember me, although they might still have economic assets in this area, that someone might need to keep any eye on.  Absentee ownership has its draw backs.  One of the Rockefeller estates in Lake Forest, Illinois www.lfc.edu was taken apart and removed piece by piece over a number of years by vandals, when they forgot to maintain it properly, when they took off traveling.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/14/08 Monday 2:20 A.M..  Since it is getting a bit colder in my living room with the thermostat set at 50 degrees Fahrenheit, although it is currently only 73.8 degrees Fahrenheit in the apartment, but it might get colder over time as the winter progresses, if we get colder weather, I went ahead and ordered from www.llbean.com a second Two-Layer Union Suit, Men's: Hunting Gear and Apparel at L.L.Bean in XX Large Tall in color red for $34.95 and $5.95 shipping for $40.90.  Now I will have a second pair when the other pair is drying for a day or two after washing.  Although it says you can put them in the dryer, it is my firm belief that they would probably shrink since they are part wool, so I do not want to risk it.  The pair I am currently wearing I bought from www.sierrantradingpost.com on sale for $10 with free shipping in July 2006, so they are not as warm as the Beaners, since they were made in El Salvador, however the Beaners are made in Canada, where they tend to know more about cold weather. I could always put my pair of grey GAP ones on over the El Salvador ones, and the GAP ones although not too heavy are looser fitting.  I think I will do that.  I got them from the GAP on Greenwich Avenue about 5 years ago at Christmas time for $40.  I will now make and eat the same dinner as the last four nights.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/14/08 Monday 1:10 A.M..  Back in December 1973, when I picked up George Cary http://mikelouisscott.com/photo/mike-scott-with-distant-relative-whom-knows-about-horses-with-relative-whom-knows-about-railroads-putnam-hotel-in-saratoga-ny-about-summer-1990.jpg at Newark airport, and we drove out to Gladstone, New Jersey to visit his grandfather Jay Coogan, I noticed Jay Coogan looked a bit like J. Paul Getty J. Paul Getty - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia , and I noticed he kept his hand cut stone English manor house at about 45 degrees Fahrenheit, which did not seem to bother George, since he was from East Aurora, New York near Buffalo, New York.  They did have some large fire places in the house though.   When I visited the Cary's pink stone villa in East Aurora, New York, they told me they had a small log cabin on the property, where they stayed during colder weather and blizzards to stay warmer.  That was the beginning of the Middle Eastern oil embargo, and I recall during the next couple of years of walking around Manhattan mostly in the neighborhood of the British consulate in Manhattan British Embassy in the USA: Consulate websites for New York City, there was a fellow that looked like Prince Philip Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia that use to drive the horse drawn carriages in Central Park, and one would always seem him waiting for a fare on the northeast corner of the Plaza Hotel New York Hotel: The Plaza Hotel in New York City .  I recall he use to keep a horse blanket on the carriage horse on cold winter's nights.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/14/08 Monday 12:40 A.M..  BBC NEWS | Middle East | Bush tour heads for Saudi Arabia .  I still have the Saudi Arabian flag stored away in the lower Rubbermaid laundry hamper in my bedroom, but I can not afford to fly it.  Maybe President Bush www.whitehouse.gov should ask the King of Saudi Arabia to supply enough cheap energy to supply electricity to heat out our all electric retirement home here in Byram, Connecticut a part of Greenwich, Connecticut which is suppose to be a Rockefeller, Vanderbilt, Watson and Bush family home town, when they are not busy traveling to the four corners of the planet using up too much precious energy.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/14/08 Monday 12:20 A.M..  I showered, and I cleaned up.  I put away the laundry.  I used the Swivel sweeper to quick clean the main walk areas in the apartment.  I am now charging up its battery.  I repositioned the brown runner in the entry way walk area to the hallway.  It tends to get out of alignment over time.  I put out another bowl of M&M red and green candies in the candy dish on the brass and glass coffee table.  I opened up another bag of www.newyorkcoffee.com , and I filled the Braun coffee bean grinder and the mason jar with fresh coffee.  I will now do some regular computer work.  According to my weather station it is 36.5 degrees Fahrenheit outside, and when I looked outside, it had quit raining, so hopefully we will not get any snow.  That tends to save the town of Greenwich, Connecticut quite a bit of money.  I do not even know if we have enough fuel in reserve in the New York area to plow it out, if we got a lot of snow.  Probably not.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/13/08 Sunday 10:40 P.M..  I started two loads of laundry, and I am just about to start the dry cycle.  I washed red long underwear in warm water, and I will drip dry it, although it is suppose to be shrink proof.  I put clean linens on the bed.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/13/08 Sunday 9:20 P.M..  When I was just about to shut down the primary Vista computer after the last note, I was prompted to install Vista updates.  Like the earlier Vista SP1 beta, the Vista SP1 RC final prompted me to reinstall the Vista Windows Update SP1 RC final a second time.  I did this, and I watched television while doing it.  I then did a Vista Complete PC backup from the first hard drive to the second hard drive.  I went to bed about 11 A.M..  I was awake at 6 P.M..  The weather forecast is now calling for a mix of rain, freezing rain, and light snow tonight Greenwich, Connecticut (06830) Conditions & Forecast : Weather Underground .  I chatted with a relative.  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted bagel with olive oil, orange and grape and cranraspberry juice with vitamins and supplements and coffee with milk and splenda sweetener.  I washed the breakfast dishes. I bought another NetGear FR114P Router/Firewall - eBay (item 140198480694 end time Jan-13-08 16:39:21 PST) for $14.95 and $12.90 priority mail shipping for $27.85 total.  Thus it should be a good identical backup item if I have to use it, and from what I can tell it is better than my D-link 704P router.  I would imagine it would work with Optimum Boost, since I also have a Netgear 16 port switch.  It has an LPT print server, so it should work with my existing setup, if I need to install it.    FR114P Support Page .  The Netgear Routers although they are older and probably not as fast as the newer routers are very heavy duty business grade routers, and since they run all of the time with my server running all of the time, I need the more heavy duty routers.  They are good value for the money, and they still cost new about $100 today.  With the print servers, I can still use my LPT printers that I still have hooked up to the network.  I did a Vista Complete PC backup from the first hard drive to the Bytecc external hard drive. CIO

Note: <888> 01/13/08 Sunday 8:30 A.M..  I chatted with a friend.  Well, not much happening on the quiet side of Greenwich, Connecticut.  Agency targets independent seniors - Greenwich Time .  I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go to bed soon.  Have a good day.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/13/08 Sunday 7:50 A.M..  I lowered the living room thermostat to 50 degrees Fahrenheit and the bedroom thermostat to 60 degrees Fahrenheit.  It is still warm enough in the apartment, possibly with the heat from the lights and the two computers.   The Canada Dollar is worth .9810 U.S. dollars Canadian Dollar to U.S. Dollar Exchange Rate - Yahoo! Note: <888> 01/13/08 Sunday 3:30 A.M..  I put the new AARP expiration stickers on my two AARP cards, and the expire May 2009.  I chatted with the Jorge down at the Key West Hotel Resorts & Florida Keys Beach Accommodations - Casa Marina Resort Key West .  He told me they had covered up the fireplace in the old lobby of the old part of the Hotel.  I suggested that they should expose it, so they could possibly use it for some extra warmth.  Back when I last visited there in February 1982, I do not think they had heat and air conditioning in the old part of the hotel.  I ate two 1.5 inch by .25 inch by 2 inch slices of New York extra sharp cheddar cheese.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/13/08 Sunday 1:25 A.M..  I did some surfing on the internet, and there are a few wired routers with print servers available on Ebay for auction ending in a few days, so I might look at them when the auctions are close to ending.  I went out without cleaning up.  I cleaned the frost off the Audi front and rear windows.  I move the ice scrapers and snow brushes from the trunk of the Audi to the driver's side rear back seat floor.  I went by the Valley Road Post Office, and I mailed the two Audi change of ownership post cards.  I then went by the Chase drive up ATM machine at the West Putnam Avenue Chase branch.  I then returned home.  Hughes Boulevard is in Mission Viejo, California.  Just because my web server stats don't show activity, somebody can use some web site like YouHide.com - Anonymous Proxy Server , and they would be invisible.  Not much happening in this neck of the woods.  I got my www.aarp.org renewal membership that I paid for on New Years Day.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/12/08 Saturday 10:55 P.M..  I just bought NetGear FR114P Router - Like new condition! - eBay (item 140198080049 end time Jan-19-08 08:35:48 PST) for $14.95 and $9 UPS shipping for $23.95 total.  Thus it should be a good enough backup item if I have to use it, and from what I can tell it is better than my D-link 704P router.  I would imagine it would work with Optimum Boost, since I also have a Netgear 16 port switch.  It has an LPT print server, so it should work with my existing setup, if I need to install it.   Mission Viejo, California is Howard Hughes territory near Laguna Beach, California.  Mission Viejo, means "Old Man Mission" in Spanish .  You can get it for about the same price here Netgear FR114P Cable/DSL ProSafe Firewall and Print Server Router - FR114PNA refurbished, but currently not available.  FR114P Support Page . CIO

Note: <888> 01/12/08 Saturday 10:20 P.M..  I made up some more passion punch.  I chatted with a relative.   NOAA weather alerts for this area National Weather Service Watch Warning Advisory Summary .  I am trying to figure out if I need a similar D-link router to use with Optimum Boost for backup.  It would seem the AT&T and the Linksys and the Siemens routers would work, but I probably have not figured out how to set them up properly.  Thus I do not think it is really necessary to order a backup D-link router with print server, since it is working fine, and if it did fail, there should be other alternatives with the routers that I already have.  The print server feature is not really that necessary, since I only use it on the backup computers which are mostly beta machines.  There might be something newer I could look into.  As usual it is six of one half a dozen of another.  I do not think I will be going out tonight, and more than likely with snow tomorrow night, and probably left over snow on Monday night, I might not be out for a few days.   I have everything I need at home.  I will now search newer wired routers with print servers.  I can not buy anything on impulse, since I have used up the maximum number of online transfers with my debit account at the Chase Bank.  The Federal Banking laws only allow one to transfer money from one account to another account six times a month, and then the Chase Bank charges a $12 fee for going over the limit.  Also the cycle does not start at the first of the month, but at the point of the month, when the Chase Bank sends out the statements, which is also the time any interest shows up on the account.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/12/08 Saturday 7:40 P.M..  I woke up at 4 P.M..  I started the FIC server, and it seems to be running fine.  I ordered Men: Men's Knit Hats: Clearance: Bargains | Old Navy for $2.49, Men: Men's Holiday-Print Sleep Bottoms: Clearance: Bargains | Old Navy in extra large for $3.49,  and five different types in extra large of Men: Men's Holiday Boxers: Boxers & Sleepwear: Bargains | Old Navy for $1.99 each and $5 shipping for $20.93 total.  I chatted with a relative.  I went outside, and I checked the Audi, and it seems to be all right.  It feels like snow.  Tomorrow Sunday night, we are suppose to have 6 to 12 inches of snow Greenwich, Connecticut (06830) Conditions & Forecast : Weather Underground .  I picked up my mail.  I chatted with one busy friend, and I left a message with another friend.  I chatted with a local security agency. For local computer parts in this area with www.compusa.com out of business, about an hour east of us used to be www.hmcomp.com up around Hamden, Connecticut, and it looks like they have gone out of business competing on the internet.  I recall they had moved to another town northwest of Hamden, Connecticut either Trumbull or Torrington, Connecticut, where I last saw them.  Ming was from mainland China, so he knew how to get parts out of China.  He is getting old, so he probably retired on all of his profits.  He use to be the most popular computer parts vendor at the Tri County computer trade fairs about 15 years ago.  Another one bites the dust.  Maybe his son took over elsewhere.  I will now eat my usual breakfast of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted bagel with olive oil, orange and grape and cranraspberry juice with vitamins and supplements and coffee with milk and splenda sweetener.  This week, I put in another blue toilet tablet in the toilet tank, and I also put in a bowl scent freshener.  I also put in two new CVS AA alkaline batteries in my Logitech wireless mouse.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/12/08 Saturday 10:00 A.M..  It seems like the weekend hacker is hacking my server again, so I will not be running it until I have time to check it out.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/12/08 Saturday 9:55 A.M..  I took the D-link router apart, and there was no replaceable fuse in it.  I reset the reset switch without the power turned on, and when I put it back together it now works again.  I reinstalled it, so I now have the server working again.  I chatted with a relative.

I posted these pictures of the picture changes in my apartment from yesterday http://mikelouisscott.com/mls-apt-011208/  .

I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go to bed soon.  I chatted with a relative a little while ago.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/12/08 Saturday 7:55 A.M..  After the last note, the D-link router failed.  I tried connecting up the Siemens router, but I could not get the FIC server going.  I tried the Linksys wireless router, and I still can not get the FIC server to go online.  The D-link router that failed was not from the power adapter from the Siemens router that works with it fine.  I thus have a bit of tinkering ahead of me, when I wake up later today.  I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and after I straighten up the area around the computers, I will go to bed.  Have a good day.  Earlier I ate a couple of bowls of goldfish crackers.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/12/08 Saturday 1:05 A.M..  I chatted with two relatives.  I did another Vista Complete PC Backup from the first hard drive to the second hard drive to save the Vista SP1 RC downloads.  I also backed up the Vista SP1 RC C: drive to the Bytecc External Hard drive.  After dinner, I watered the plants, and I threw out the garbage and the periodical literature.  I watched a program about preserving land in the Canadian Rockies in Southern Alberta.  Quite frankly, they don't have to worry about me moving there, since I can not take the colder weather, and I am afraid of Grizzly Bears.  I saved the two heavy card board tubes that the prints came in, and I put them behind the French reproduction chair.  For some reason it was 77 degrees Fahrenheit in the apartment, so I turned down the living room thermostat to 60 degrees Fahrenheit, until it cools down a bit.  Well, I guess I will now go through my email.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/11/08 Friday 8:25 P.M.:  I had a charity telephone call from a caller for the elderly American Indians in North Dakota, and I explained that there was not much I could do, but I told them to look at my web site.  I just burned the Vista SP1 RC final downloaded to DVD two copies, and I put them with the rest of the Vista beta software in the white bookcase in the bedroom top shelf right.  Thus 31 months of Vista beta testing has come to an end, until they probably come out with Vista SP2 in another year or so.  Maybe we should have a 31 months of Vista party, but alas with the local economic recession in this area, we are pretty much left to our own devices.   I will probably install the final releases of Vista on the two beta machines once the earlier versions expire, but I do not have product keys for them, so they will expire after three months.  I still have XP on both beta machines.  Vista Server 2008 SP1 RC is still not out yet.  I have three product keys for it, so I technically eventually could set it up on the FIC server and the two beta machines once Vista SP1 RC expires on the beta machines.   I will now make and eat the same dinner as the last two nights.  I chatted with Microsoft today, but their operator was confused as usual.  I also chatted with www.geico.com down in Macon, Georgia, and they were a lot more chatty.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/11/08 Friday 6:35 P.M.:  After the last note, I downloaded the Microsoft Vista SP1 RC final version all language upgrade for X86 and 64 bit versions, and I also downloaded the combined X86 and 64 bit full install version.  Thus I guess the Vista SP1 RC upgrade windows download version I installed is the final release version.  I will burn two copies of each to DVD shortly.  I went to bed about 5 A.M..  I woke up at 10 A.M., when I had a computer magazine telephone call, and I finally got up at 1 P.M., when I had a no person telephone call.  The order  AllPosters.com - The World's Largest Poster and Print Store! Note: <888> 01/11/08 Friday 2:15 A.M.:    I turned down the living room thermostat to 70 degrees Fahrenheit, so it should go down eventually on colder nights to 64 degrees Fahrenheit in the living room, however it tends to warm up a bit on warmer days.  I will adjust it according to what I feel is necessary according to the outside temperature.  I cleaned most of the items on the plastic shelves on the General Electric microwave oven, and I put the stack of heavy plates on the far right middle cupboard shelf.   Thus there are less heavy items to fall on my head by the smoking chair.  Although we are not in California earthquake country, there is a fault line that runs through Greenwich, Connecticut just north of the Boston Post Road for the unaware.   I did not clean the plastic shelves on the microwave yet or the salad bowl.   I will now do some more computer work.  Basically the apartment could use a good thorough cleaning which would take at least a week, but I do not have time currently for such an endeavor.  As I have a little bit of extra time, I do a few minor upkeep tasks to keep the apartment in better order.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/11/08 Friday 1:10 A.M.:  Just to be on the safe side since the Deer Picture http://mikelouisscott.com/mls-apt-011008/DSCN0402.JPG weighs at least 30 pounds and has a heavier frame and heavier glass than the Tern picture which weighs about 10 pounds, I took a piece of picture wire, and I strung it through the deer picture hanging wire, and I looped it over the false ceiling support beam, so it has additional support should the two 75 pound OOK hooks give way.  The problem with OOK hooks and sheet rock is that if the sheet rock should get wet from a leaky roof it turns into a soft type of wet card board, and it will not support the OOK hooks.  Thus the deer picture is more secure.  Since the Tern picture only weighs about 10 pounds, and since it is lower with two 50 pound OOK hooks, it more than likely would not give way on a wet wall before the deer picture.  However, if needed I could string a piece of wire with an eye hook off the bottom back of the deer picture to the hanging wire of the tern picture, but I do not think it is necessary.  I might even have an eye hook available, however it would prevent the deer picture from lying flat against the wall, and with an OOK hook it is better that it lie flat against the wall.  I could screw it into the bottom of the pecan frame of the deer picture, but I would rather not risk splitting the wood which could happen with a hard wood.  I went through my last two days email earlier.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/10/08 Thursday 7:30 P.M.:  I went out after the last note.  I went by the Chase Bank on Mason Street, and I used their ATM machine.  I then went to my usual 3 P.M. appointment a half hour early.  I then went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop.  I then went downtown, and I sat out for a while.  I rode a short distance with a fellow walker while he parked his car at his residence.  I then sat out for some more.  I then walk up to the Greenwich Hardware store, and I bought a 75 pound OOK hook for $2.99 and a package of two 50 pound OOK hooks for $2.99 both plus .36 tax for $6.34 total.  I chatted with their staff, and I showed them my web site.  I then sat out some more downtown.  I then returned home.  I chatted with some neighbors.  I used the 75 pound OOK hook with the existing 75 pound OOK hook to hang the deer picture above the bed right against the bedroom ceiling, so it has two 75 pound OOK hooks now.  I tried hanging the empty frame, but I don't have the prints for it yet.  I then hung the Tern print beneath the deer print with about 1.5 inches in between, and it looks quite good with its light blue colors which match the blue and white bolsters on the bed.  Thus I think I will leave it there.  I put the empty frame behind the bedroom door.  One has to be careful with it, since it only has two glass diamonds holding in the matting material and the glass.  I have the other metal diamond fasteners in an envelope on the desk.  I might put the set of map prints in it vertically and hang it vertically on the back side of the bedroom door where the tern picture was.  I think the other set of French prints are smaller and will fit in the two smaller frames that I have available.   I chatted with a relative.  I chatted with another relative.  I will now reheat and eat the same dinner as last night.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/10/08 Thursday 1:35 P.M.:   When I checked the mail, I emptied the ashtray by the front entrance door.  I chatted with a neighbor.  I ate the last piece of chocolate filled crumb cake with a glass of iced tea.  I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go out for my 3 P.M. appointment.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/10/08 Thursday 1:05 P.M.:  I woke up at 9 A.M. this morning.  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted bagel with olive oil, orange and grape and cranraspberry juice with vitamins and supplements and coffee with milk and splenda sweetener.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  I made my bed.  I showered, and I cleaned up.  I went downstairs, and I signed my lease for another year.  I chatted with neighbors.  I went outside briefly.  On the new install of Vista SP1 RC refresh, I did a Vista Complete PC backup from the first hard drive to the second hard drive.  If there is a later version of the Vista SP1 RC refresh, I can always uninstall the version I have and install a newer version.  I took down the picture in the bedroom of the Audubon flamingo and the pelican, and I put those two prints in the aluminum frame with glass that I had stored behind the behind the bed, and I rehung it in the same location above the desk.  I have the empty frame which is four foot by 2 foot available to put in the two maps prints or the two French prints and to hang it beneath the deer print above the bed.  I could always hang the picture of the terns hanging on the back of the bed beneath the deer print, but I probably will put the two map prints in the empty frame and hang it beneath the deer print above the bed.  I have two Audubon dove prints that came out of the aluminum frame that I have to store some where, where they will be safe.  I will now check my mail.  I put a Glade Plug-in Hawaiian breeze scent bottle in the Glade Plug-in  scent holder in the kitchen.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/10/08 Thursday 1:20 A.M.:  I ate another 1/5th piece of chocolate filled crumb cake.

As a beta tester for Vista SP1, the Vista SP1 RC refresh was just made available to me, so I uninstalled the previous update from a month ago, and I installed the latest release.  I am not sure whether it is the final release or not.  I watched some television while doing all of it.  I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go to bed soon.  I have to be up at 7 A.M. this morning, so I can sign my lease at 10 A.M..  I also have my regular 3 P.M. appointment.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/09/08 Wednesday 9:35 P.M.:  I watched a television program about the Old Dutch Church cemetery in Sleepy Hallow, New York.  I could never afford to drive over there to see what it all about, although I have visited North Tarrytown, New York a half dozen times or so.  Tarrytown, New York has a much steeper main street for exercise walking up and down, and the road up to North Tarrytown, New York is even steeper.   It was originally popular as a summer retreat, since the cool Hudson River breezes would keep it a bit cooler in the summer, but conversely in the winter, the very cold Northwest winds make it equally colder.   They said William Rockefeller is buried there, but they did not say where his older brother John Davidson Rockefeller is buried.  I once read that John Davidson Rockefeller spent his retirement winters in Ormond Beach, Florida, and he use to sing in an African American Baptist church choir during his retirement years, so maybe he is buried down south.  Andrew Carnegie and Walter Chrysler are also buried at the Sleepy Hallow cemetery along with Washington Irving, one of its founders.  I use to drive over to Irvington, New York to visit Scott Nelson from Minnesota, who lived above the bakery there, so he had cheaper heating bills, but the last I heard he was going to dental school at Columbia University www.columbia.edu .  Says here, John D. Rockefeller is buried in Cleveland, Ohio John D. Rockefeller Dies at 97 in His Florida Home; Funeral to be Held Here , so they must be from there.  They probably have cheaper taxes there too.  The legal address for paying taxes for John D. Rockefeller III was the Drake Hotel Chicago Hotels: The Drake Hotel, A Luxury Chicago, Illinois Hotel, Official Site. on Chicago, Illinois' waterfront.  However, the last I heard the family had over 600 homes worldwide, so they could be pretty much anywhere.  My best bet is they don't like being bothered, and they need inexpensive help, so they could be living on a ranch in Argentina or Australia where the Yankee dollar goes further.  I will now go through my email.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/09/08 Wednesday 8:05 P.M.:  I opened up the package of six boneless chicken breasts, and I put four of them in a large flat Rubbermaid container.   I then rinsed off the other two in cold water, and I dried them with a paper towel.   I then put a thin coat of olive oil in a Pyrex pie dish, and on a separate plate, I rubbed the bottom side of the boneless chicken breasts with olive oil, and then I spread a thick coating of Italian seasoned bread crumbs on them, and then I did the same with the top side and the other boneless chicken breasts.   I then put them in the Pyrex pie dish, and I baked them in the Farberware convection oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 35 minutes.  I also made up a batch of http://www.geocities.com/mikelscott/mlsrice.htm to which I also added two teaspoons of Kikkoman soy sauce and oregano Seasoning and chicken bullion seasoning.  I ate half, and I put the other half in a Rubbermaid container in the refrigerator.  I also steamed in a two quart Revere pot with steamer tray and lid about 1.5 cups of baby carrots and broccoli crowns for 15 minutes on medium high electric burner heat, and I put some olive oil on the vegetables.  I put the other baked boneless chicken breast in a Rubbermaid container in the refrigerator.  I ate it all with a glass of iced tea.   I will now throw out the garbage.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/09/08 Wednesday 6:35 P.M.:  I watched some television.  While doing that one at a time, I put 15 drops of CVS ear drops in each year for 10 minutes holding that hear sideways up, and then I used hot water with an ear water bulb to clean out the old wax from each ear.  Quite a bit of ear wax came out of each ear, so now I have better hearing.  I also used the toilet plunger and hot water to clean out the shaving soap scum out of the bathroom sink drain, so it drains better.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/09/08 Wednesday 5:15 P.M.:  I ate a 1/5th piece of chocolate filled crumb cake.  I sorted out my old Christmas cards in the bookcase, and I put them in a bag on the top right bookcase.  I put the ones with pictures and some other pictures and photographs in a new photograph album that I started.  President abroad Welcome to the White House , and while he is out of the country Vice President of the United States - Richard B. Cheney is in charge.  I could go out, but since I will have to make and eat dinner later on and be up earlier tomorrow, I will not be going out.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/09/08 Wednesday 4:10 P.M.:  I was awake at 10 A.M. this morning.  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted bagel with olive oil, orange and grape and cranraspberry juice with vitamins and supplements and coffee with milk and splenda sweetener.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  I made my bed.  I took down the small framed family pictures above the bed in the bedroom, and I put them along the upper area above the kitchen cabinets.  I also put one above just to the left of the living room dining table, and I put one to the right above the sweater closet, and I put one above the Jensen weather station to the left of the bedroom door.  I move one from the kitchen to the right of the toilet.  I put the Martha's' Vineyard print behind the bedroom door along with the few other prints that I am not using.  I can also use the dog playing poker print frame for one of the French prints that I ordered.  I took down the print above the Sony television in the living room of deer in the woods called "The Legend of Mingo Creek", and I hung it high over the bed with a 75 pound OOK hook.  I have room beneath it for the four new prints possibly depending on what frames I have available.  Where the deer print was I hung the framed picture of the driving of spike of the Northern Pacific railroad.  While moving stuff around in that area, I broke the white ceramic soup holder and its cover which was on the window shelf.  I took down the small artificial Christmas tree and artificial Christmas wreath, and I stored them away.  I put the Swedish globe on the teak stand on the white wicker breakfast tray on the living room window sill and along with the small brass figurine of two horses.  I threw out the garbage and the broken soup tourine.  I picked up my mail.  I chatted with two relatives.  I took down the flags off the hallway bookcases, so the items in the bookcases are once again displayed.  I took the Christmas cards out of the copper French restaurant sculpture, and I put the cards in a shelf on the bookcase.  I called the Greenwich Housing Authority at 1-203-869-1138 about the open ventilation shaft outside my bedroom window, and I left a message.  I have a dental cleaning scheduled for April 2008 and the filling that I still need is scheduled for June 2008.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/09/08 Wednesday 1:40 A.M.:  I moved the Map of Magellan from off the bathroom door behind the long underwear, and I hung it over the wire rack at the bedroom entrance.  I moved the Northern Pacific railroad picture from that location to behind the bathroom door.  I have a 24 inch by 36 inch aluminum frame with glass behind the headboard of the bed that I can put the two maps in that I just bought and hang it vertically, but I am not sure where in the apartment I will be able to hang it.  I will have to figure out that later.  I also have a frame with a print from Martha's Vineyard, I can put one of the French prints in.  I have another Martha's Vineyard print of a sail boat, but I am not sure where it is.  It might be behind the old map print of Scandinavia or behind the map of Magellan.  It matches the other Martha's Vineyard print.  I bought the two Martha's Vineyard prints about 19 years ago, when I first moved in here at the Boy Scout tag sale in Darien for about 50 cents apiece.  Thus we have become more upscale in our print collection, but we are running out of wall space.  I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go to bed soon.  I do not have any appointments today, but I have to sign my lease this Thursday between 10 A.M. and 1 P.M. in the community room downstairs, and I also have my usual 3 P.M. appointment.  I have been so busy with the computers that certain aspects of my apartment interior decoration are falling behind.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/09/08 Wednesday 12:55 A.M.:  I bought World Map Art by Joan Blaeu at AllPosters.com for $4.98 and Map of the World Prints by Richard Blome at AllPosters.com for $5.98, and I used "THNKU81" for free shipping through January 9, 2008 for $10.96 total.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/08/08 Tuesday 9:00 P.M.:  I ate the dinner with two microwaved potatoes, and I also ate a 1/6th piece of chocolate chip crumb cake.   I will now go through my email.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/08/08 Tuesday 7:35 P.M.:  After the last note, I switched the FIC server from the XP IIS server to the Vista beta RC3 2008 server.  The ATI catalyst driver for it seems to have some incompatibilities, but it still works fine enough.  However, when I woke up at noon today, the FIC server was shut down like it had been hacked.  It has worked fine all afternoon, and the Netgear Switch lights are not flashing all of the time like with the XP IIS server, so I will run it for a while longer to see if it gets rid of the hackers.  I have had problems with hackers for years, so I just deal with it, and it is the nature of the internet that one can not do much about it. I went out, and I went by the Chase Bank on Mason Street, and then I went by the Wachovia Bank on Benedict Place, and I paid my rent to the Greenwich Housing Authority.  I then went to my 3 P.M. appointment, but the appointment was not there, so it will have to be rescheduled.  I then went downtown, and I use the bathroom at the senior and the arts center.  I walked upper Greenwich Avenue.  I stopped by CVS, and I bought two more $29.99 value packs of batteries for $9.99 and $4.99 containing each pack CVS alkaline batteries 4 C, 4 D, 10 AA, 8 AAA, and a case plus buy one get one free of 60 capsule MSM 1000 mg. for $6.79 both and .54 tax and $2 off a $10 CVS item purchase coupon and $4 off coupon from the internet for $16.31 total.  I completed my walk, and then I sat out for a while.  Recently I have not been walking lower Greenwich Avenue, because I find walking upper Greenwich Avenue more relaxing than dealing with all of the activity around the train station transportation area.  I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought a 6 pack of White Gem boneless breasts of chicken for $1.99 a pound for $5.93, a two pound bag of baby carrots for $2.99, green Chiquita bananas for .54 a pound for $1.56, and broccoli crowns at a $1.99 a pound for $2.41 for $12.89 total.  I then returned home.  On the way home, I was stopped by a Greenwich Police Officer at Weaver Street, and I pulled into the offices of the RBC Royal Bank Gateway off Weaver Street, and they checked my Connecticut license plate registration, my www.geico.com insurance card, and my Connecticut driver's license, and since all of them were in order, they let me go.  I was at the Connecticut DMV 12 days ago to register the Audi, and transfer the title, but it still does not show up on the police car computers.  I then returned home, and I chatted with some neighbors.  My new subscription issue of US News & World Report - Breaking News, World News, Business News, and America's Best Colleges - USNews.com for the 40 issue subscription order arrived, and I put it on the brass and glass coffee table.  The PQI 1GB 60X Secure Digital (SD) Memory Card - Retail Package (Free Ground Shipping)  for $6.99 with free shipping arrived.  I put it in my Polaroid 3 megabyte digital camera, so now both digital cameras have SD cards.  I will now eat the last of the cold eye round of beef dinner as the 11 nights.  I also can only afford to drive down by the waterfront on Steamboat Road about once a week now, since the local neighbors seem to be unaware of my presence down there for the last 24 years.  However, there is a traffic camera at corner across the street from the Delamar hotel The Delamar on Greenwich Harbor that has documented my presence in that area for the last 24 years, not to mention I lived on Steamboat Road for 5 and a half years, and I seem to know more people over there than in this neighborhood besides my immediate neighbors in my current building.  CIO

I am a bit tired, so I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go to bed soon.  Not much happening around here recently, but people seem to be enjoying the warmer weather.

I wander if anything unusual will happen on 08/08/08, "Crazy Eights"  CIO

Note: <888> 01/08/08 Tuesday 1:15 A.M.:  My cable modem has been showing a lot of activity on the Netgear Network switch when I am not doing anything and when the server Megaproxy program is turned off, so it would seem either the primary Vista computer or the FIC server is doing something in the background that I can not account for.  More than likely it is the FIC server, since I noticed the same activity earlier today, when the primary Vista computer was turned on.  I have to remind any local people whom might be up to mischief that they can be prosecuted and their assets can be seized for internet activity that is against the law, but it might be just another spider trying to index my server.  Of course, I do not put everything in my web notes.  Also I only read the first third of James Bamford's first book on the National Security agency, and if I had read the last two thirds and the later sequel, I might know more.  One could look up the National Security Agency budget in the Federal budget to see how much money they have to bother people with for whatever reason.  The web server shows no unusual activity to account for the Network Switch activity.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/07/08 Monday 10:20 P.M.:  I made and ate the same dinner as the last 10 nights.  Today is Russian Christmas, so you can take you Christmas decorations down in another week if you wish.  I ate a 1/6th piece of Chocolate Chip crumb cake after dinner.  I chatted with www.geico.com 1-800-42GEICO about some general intelligence.  They told me it was 60 degrees Fahrenheit up in Buffalo, New York, but I don't know if it will last long.  When I was downtown today, I overheard two people chatting about being from Grenada, so maybe they brought the warmer weather up from the Caribbean.  Since they were darkly tanned, I assumed Grenada in the Caribbean as opposed to Grenada, Spain, which is colder in the winter.  I will now go through my email.  I have an appointment tomorrow afternoon at 3 P.M..  CIO

Note: <888> 01/07/08 Monday 6:40 P.M.:  I woke up at 10:30 A.M. on Sunday when a relative called.  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted bagel with olive oil, orange and grape and cranraspberry juice with vitamins and supplements and coffee with milk and splenda sweetener.  I went back to bed until about 6 P.M..  I washed the breakfast dishes.  I chatted with a couple of relatives and a friend.  I watched some television.  I went back to bed until midnight.  I ate the same dinner as the last eight nights.  I went back to bed until 9 A.M. this morning.  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted bagel with olive oil, orange and grape and cranraspberry juice with vitamins and supplements and coffee with milk and splenda sweetener.  I washed the dishes, and I made my bed.  I picked up my mail.  I showered, and I cleaned up.  I went out, and I went by the Chase Bank on Mason Street.  I then went to the Greenwich Hospital Dental Outpatient Clinic, and I had one cavity filled, and I still need to get another one filled at a future date.  I probably should not eat the discounted chocolate candy that I bought from CVS.  I also need to get a crown done  on my lower rear right molar, when I have the available time to go to the University of Connecticut dental school in Farmington, Connecticut, where they take my Connecticut State medical plan.  I then went downtown, and I walked up Greenwich Avenue, and I went by CVS.  I bought an RTH electric can opener and knife sharpener for $9.99, another $29.99 value package of CVS alkaline batteries containing 10 AA, 8 AAA, 4 D, and 4 C batteries, regularly $9.99 less 50% discount for $4.99, and two five packs of BIC 2X butane lighters for $2.99 each and .84 tax less a $3 off $15 coupon and a $4 off $20 coupon for $14.80 total.    I then finished my walk of upper Greenwich Avenue.  I put my purchases in the car.  I sat out for a while.   I chatted with a relative on my AT&T Go phone.  I then went by www.newcountry.com Audi, and I bought three lug nut caps for my 1998 Audi A6 part # 3410C321-601-173-A-Z37 for $1.47 each and .26 tax for $4.67 total.  I put one each on the two rear wheels that did not have lug nut caps on their lug nuts, and I put the third in the glove compartment to have for a spare.  I then drove down by the waterfront on Grass Island, and I stood out for a while, and I enjoyed the view. I then drove by the George Weston Bakeries Arnold Bread  Outlet, and I bought a six pack of Thomas' onion bagels for .99 and a 26 ounce Entenmann's chocolate chip crumb cake for $2.25 for $3.24 total.  I then returned home.  I chatted with a neighbor.  I will put the new RTH Round the House electric can opener to the right of the kitchen sink.   CIO

Note: <888> 01/06/08 Sunday 2:50 A.M.:  I will now send out my weekly notes.  According to the Oregon Scientific Weather station, it is 73.4 degrees Fahrenheit inside by the living room dining table and 28% humidity, and outside a half inch from the north living room window, it is 38.8 degrees Fahrenheit and 77% humidity.  I will have to wait and see if the temperature drops lower inside with the four degree Fahrenheit lower thermostat setting, and it will probably take a day or so to tell.  Next Sunday, the Queen Mary II is back again QM2 - Itinerary - 2008 .  I sometimes hope, they will sail it up Long Island Sound, so I can get a chance to see it, while I am bird watching around the waterfront.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/05/08 Saturday 11:55 P.M.:  Now that it is cooler in the apartment, I put on my new Union Suit  Two-Layer Union Suit, Men's: Hunting Gear and Apparel at L.L.Bean that I ordered it in red in double extra large tall for $34.99, and I used coupon code "2700000" for free 3 to 5 day ground shipping for $34.95 total over my leisure clothes, and I am also wearing a knit cap that I found on Greenwich Avenue now the apartment is cooler.  One should always try to keep one's head covered in colder climate conditions, since one can lose 50% of one's body heat through one's head.  I still have one of these Icelandic knit caps Icelandic Wool | Wool Accessories | Ash Heather Wool Cap that I  bought at the Icelandic sweater store in Toronto, Canada in December 1983 for $40 American.  They seem to have gotten cheaper unlike everything else.  I would recommend Air Mail delivery of $10.50 for faster delivery instead of $8 economy which might take time on the mail boat from Iceland, thus with air mail delivery it would be $32.80 which is cheaper than what I paid for it 24 years ago.  I wear mine on the coldest days of the year outside, and it works just fine down here when it is 20 degrees Fahrenheit or lower.  If one were thinking about going to the Winter Olympics up in Western Canada Vancouver 2010 in a couple of years, you would probably want some of these products Canada Goose, particularly if one had thin blood from a warmer country. CIO

Note: <888> 01/05/08 Saturday 9:55 P.M.:  I woke up at 10 A.M. this morning.  I chatted with a relative.  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a two day old muffin, orange and grape and cranraspberry juice with vitamins and supplements and coffee with milk and splenda sweetener.  I made my bed, and I washed the breakfast dishes.  I went outside, and I threw out some garbage, and I picked up my mail, and I chatted with a neighbor.  I noticed the indoor ice skating rink behind my building had a full parking lot.  I filled out the paper work for signing my yearly lease agreement this Thursday in the community room between 10 A.M. and 1 P.M..  I have a dental appointment this Monday about 1 P.M.  I received notification from the NEON Federal Energy assistance program that my energy assistance will be $675 this year down from $875, but it has not yet been deposited in my electricity account.  My electricity bill for December 2007 was $252 which is above the monthly average of $182 that I pay.  I have already paid the January 2008 bill.  Thus in my only two yearly subsidies of the Renters Rebate which last year was $875 and this year was $325 and the Energy assistance which last year was $875 and this year was $675,  have lost $750 in annual subsidies this year, so things are tight around here.  I turned down the apartment thermostat in my living room from 78 degrees which leaves the living room at 70 degrees Fahrenheit to 74 degrees which will probably leave the living room at 66 degrees Fahrenheit.  I leave the bedroom at 70 degrees, but it is more like 60 degrees in the bedroom.  I do not use the bathroom heater.  I use the tower fans in the living room and the tower fan in the hallway to blow the heat around.  My bedroom is colder because on its outside wall over the rain patio, there is a five foot by two foot opening into a ventilation shaft in the outside wall with a metal grate, and the opening is left opened, and not closed off by a damper.  I have mentioned it a number times, but the Greenwich Housing Authority has never done anything about it in 19 years.  No matter what I have to keep a roof over my head, so I try not to complain too much.  I showered, and I cleaned up.  I went out, and I returned the Vista computer book at the Greenwich Library.  I then chatted with a Swedish patron.  I also chatted with a regular patron who has a legal back ground.  Unfortunately it seems in the United States of America, there is no continuity in government between different political administrations, so anyone whom serves in any sort of government  position is left hanging by anyone who is newly elected to office.  I then went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.  I stopped by Zen stationary and the Greenwich Cigar store, and I played a dollar scratch card at both locations, and I lost at both locations.  I played a Holiday Doubler at Zen stationary, and I played an Aces High at the Greenwich Cigar store.  I stopped by CVS on the way up Greenwich Avenue, and I bought five 8.5 ounce bags of Hershey Kisses with caramel for .29 each and three 8.5 ounce bags of Hershey  Kisses with cherry filling for .29 each plus .14 tax for $2.46 total.  I then bought  two packages of CVS alkaline batteries each worth $29.99 for $9.99 each package less 50% off the second package thus it was $4.99  and each package containing a storage container, 10 AA, 8 AAA, 4 C, and 4D CVS alkaline batteries plus I used a $2 off $10 CVS item coupon, and a $5.50 yearly bonus bucks discount coupon and .45 tax for $7.93 total.  I then sat out across the street from the Ginger Man on the bench, and I ate a half of a 8.5 ounce bag of the Hershey caramel filled kisses, and when I got home, I put the rest of the bag in the candy bowl on the brass and glass coffee table.  I then completed my walk.  I then put my purchases in the Audi.  I then used the bathroom at Starbucks.  I saw a black Audi of America > See All Models > Audi R8 that had a Lotus of Greenwich license plate frame on it from a Greenwich dealer I can not remember, but not www.newcountry.com .  I then went by the Greenwich Automotive Exxon Service station, and I bought $6 of premium self service gasoline at $3.839 a gallon for 1.564 gallons for 17.8 miles driving since this past Tuesday evening at odometer reading of 59,416 or 11.381 miles per gallon driving locally in stop and go traffic at about 0 to 30 miles per hour.  It can take one 15 minutes to drive the mile on Greenwich Avenue some times, so it involves a lot of idling using precious fuel.  While out, I mailed  a customer survey to www.geico.com at the central Greenwich Post Office.  I also chatted with two relatives with my AT&T Go Phone, and I was told by AT&T that if I pay my $25 three month payment by January 30, 2006, I can roll over the $19 of time I still have left on the Motorola wireless Go phone.  At 25 cents a minute, I do not use it too much, but I always take it with me, when I go out.   I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought three 10 ounce Stop and Shop Vermont extra sharp cheddar cheese for $2.69 each, and two 6 ounce Gold's Hot Horse Radish $1.59 each for $11.25 total.  I then returned home, and I chatted with a neighbor.  I will now eat the same cold beef meal as 6 out of the last 8 nights.   White Gem boneless breasts of Chicken are $1.99 a pound at the Stop and Shop, but there were only two packages left, when I was there two hours ago.  Usually in the morning, they put more Note: <888> 01/04/08 Friday 9:05 P.M.:  I watched some television.  The B.B.C. television program "Keeping Up Appearences" is now on the high definition television network here.  That is really about all we know about the Upper Classes in England.   I will now shut down the primary Vista computer.  I nippled on a few pieces of Hershey mini chocolate bars for an after dinner snack.  Stay Warm.   The Bush family are suppose to be cousins of the British Royal family, so I guess they are use to living like Royalty.  I once read that the British Royal family besides being related to the other Crowned head of Europe, were also related to the Roosevelts, the Churchills, and the Hitlers, so I would imagine they have a few other odd distant relatives.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/04/08 Friday 7:00 P.M.:  I ate the same cold beef dinner as the last five out of seven nights.  I put the new rechargable radio flash light back in its box and packaging along with the cell phone charger adapters, and I put it with the other flash lights on the top shelf of the night stand in the kitchen along with the Coba power adapter.  I just remembered an 11th Donald, which is Donald Breem, the billionaire developer of Orange Country, California, that is the good friend of the Bushs, so that is 11 Donalds.   Two more, and we will have a baker's dozen.  There was once on television Don Amiche, and of course there is Donald Duck www.disney.com for 13 Donalds, a baker's dozen.  Of course there was Don Pardo, the game show announce in the old days, so that is 14 Donalds, for 15 Donalds, there is Don Quixote.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/04/08 Friday 4:15 P.M.:  I made a telephone call to someone that speaks English.  I will now go through my email.  Look at this way I have short term loans out to the Vanderbilts and a Dutch printing company, until they return the funds to my account in a day or two.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/04/08 Friday 2:40 P.M.:  I woke up at 8 A.M. this morning.  I called up www.biltmore.com , and I cancelled the order for the Wassail, since it has cinnamon in it, and it might make me toot. I called up the Greenwich Country Club at 1-203-869-1000 http://www.geocities.com/mike2scott2006/Greenwich-Country-Club.jpg , and I chatted with the manager.  I mentioned that back in the 1960s and 1970s, when my family were members that I recall their furnace burned coal, which might be more economical today than the current natural gas they are now using from Canada.  I mentioned that the president of Peabody coal use to also live in Greenwich.  A lot of commercial furnaces and power plants can burn coal, fuel oil, or natural gas.  Possibly there is still an old railroad siding over in Cos Cob, where the Cos Cob power plant use to be, where they could off load coal from the railroad, and deliver it to any coal burning facilities in the area.  Coal in bulk is very heavy, so it is expensive to transport.  I was always against them tearing down the old railroad Cos Cob power plant, and I expressed my opinion that it would be a valuable generator of power at the time if oil were ever in short supply or more expensive, but nobody ever listens to me.  I picked up my mail, and I chatted with our new custodian.  I received the  Buy.com - Survivor 10 in 1 Solar-Powered Crank, LED Emergency Lamp, AM/FM Weather Band Radio with Cell Phone Charger - 00064 $10 with free shipping which I ordered with this 5% discount link Buy.com - Coupons  for $9.50 total with free shipping.  It seems to work just fine.  I got out my Coby small power adapter with different tips, and I have it charging up on a 4.5 volt tip with positive setting.  One can also charge it up with the solar power panel on it.  Once it is fully charged in four hours at 5 P.M., its radio will last 8 hours.  I also put in two new D alkaline batteries in it, for it to be able to work off batteries too.  If one sets on the other switch besides batteries, it will run off the charged power cell, which can be charged by the external Coby power adapter, the solar cell, or the hand crank.  It has a weather station besides AM/FM along with a regular and flashing light and a cell phone charger.  Thus it should be a handy device to have around in emergencies.  I currently have it sitting on the Toshiba laptop.  I ordered for the Polaroid 3.1 MP digital camera for $6.99 with free shipping PQI 1GB 60X Secure Digital (SD) Memory Card - Retail Package (Free Ground Shipping) , so that camera should be operational, once I receive it.  I guess now I will water the plants, and I will throw out the garbage and the old periodical literature.  I got a Holiday card from Vice President Vice President of the United States - Richard B. Cheney and Mrs. Cheney Mrs. Lynne Cheney .  I guess the President www.whitehouse.gov can not afford to send out Holiday cards. CIO

Note: <888> 01/04/08 Friday 12:55 A.M.:  I ate another day old muffin.  Wassail - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia .  The way I figure it, the Vanderbilts have a lot of farm resources on their estate, so whatever is in the Wassail mix is probably the right way to make it, or they know where to get it from.  Being down south, they might have access to spices from the Indies or some other far away locations to add to it.  However, for all I know it is just dried peaches, because that is all I saw growing around the Biltmore estate, when I took the bus through there before hiking the Appalachian Trail for four days in April of 1978.  In the various recipes on the internet, it says it might have cinnamon in it, and it is commonly used with cider, and the 12th of January is coming soon, so I think I will find it useful in my tea mixture.  They are one pound packages, so more than likely at $5 a pound, it is a good deal for a spice ingredient that I would use in quanity.  I am a bit tired, so I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go to bed soon.  Traditionally anymore, I do not go out on Fridays, since I tend to sleep late, and I let the children play downtown on Friday afternoons after school.  Of course at my old advanced age of 57, most everyone looks like children.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/03/08 Thursday 11:40 P.M.:  In recognition of a long forgotten Dutch family struggling to keep the American Economy going in one of the original Dutch West Indies Company's original businesses in the spice business, I ordered from www.biltmore.com from Biltmore Online Store from Biltmore Specials , 6 bags of Wassail Spice Blend Browsing Store - Biltmore Estate Wassail Spice Blend at $6 a bag less coupon code of "WASSAIL" for the sixth bag free plus $10 standard shipping, which probably mean it will be coming by the Cho Cho for $40 total.  I can not be as lavish as the Vanderbilts with my spices, but I figure, I could add about two tablespoons of the Biltmore Wassail Spice Blend in my Formula One http://mikelouisscott.com/icetea.htm mixture every week when I make it to add a little bit more flavor to it.  It will also keep the Dutch in business.  For all I know, they make it from their flower garden petals. CIO

Note: <888> 01/03/08 Thursday 11:10 P.M.:  I went out after the last note, and I went to my usual 3 P.M. appointment on Thursday.  I then went downtown, and I used the bathroom at the Senior and the Arts Center.  I then walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.  During my walk up Greenwich Avenue, I stopped by CVS.  I chatted with a friend of one of my neighbors.  After my walk, I went by the Greenwich Library, and I chatted with some staff members and a regular patron.  I read the Greenwich Time www.greenwichtime.com , and it is now suppose to be owned by the Connecticut Post a Hearst Publication.   I then returned home.  I took the three pound eye round of top round of beef, and I put it on a baking rack in a baking pan, and I seasoned it with ground black pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning generously.  I then covered it with Kraft Barbeque sauce.  I baked it in the convection over at 325 degrees for 30 minutes.  I also baked with it two potatoes that I scrubbed with cold water and a vegetable brush, and I pricked on four sides three times each side with a fork, and I microwave on one potato cycle first.  For the last five minutes of the cooking cycle, I microwaved in a plastic microwave pot with lid in an inch of water a cup of baby carrots and broccoli crowns on the vegetable cycle.  I put the steamed vegetables in a bowl with a little bit of olive oil. I put the baked potato on a plate, and I sliced it open with a knife, and I cut diagonal slices inside it, and I added three pads of 50% less fat butter to melt.  I cut off two half inch slices of the hot beef, and I put them on the dinner plate with the potato, and the beef juices.  I put the rest of the beef in a Rubbermaid container, and I refrigerated it.  I ate the dinner with a glass of iced tea.   I chatted with two relatives and a officer at London Detachment R.C.M.P. .  Not much happening here, and I suppose over there in Hill Billy Heaven over in North Tarrytown, New York, they are still trying to keep up with www.biltmore.com .  They have to remember the Vanderbilts got it all cheap 200 years before the Rockefellers had money.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/03/08 Thursday 2:15 P.M.:  I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go out for my 3 P.M. appointment.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/03/08 Thursday 2:00 P.M.:  I woke up this morning at 7 A.M..  The new red Union Suit kept me perfectly warm.  I cancelled my order on the Business Cards and other items to save money.  It was 13 degrees Fahrenheit here this morning outside.  I threw out some garbage, and I chatted with a neighbor.  Local fish story Greenwich boy bags 551-pound shark - Greenwich Time .  I chatted with a relative.  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted bagel with olive oil, orange and grape and cranraspberry juice with vitamins and supplements and coffee with milk and splenda sweetener.  I made my bed, and I washed the breakfast dishes.  I went out, and the Audi started right up in the cold weather.  I went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop.  I then went by the Senior and the Arts Center.  I got my year 2008 parking permit, and I had to reregister as a member, since they had lost me in their computer database.  I was sent a Senior Center membership card, when I turned 50, and I still have it, but now they say you have to be 55, so at age 57 I am eligible.  When I got home, I made three copies of the Senior Center parking permit, and the Senior Center pass to have for my records.  I put the parking permit in the arm rest in between the seats on the Audi.  The MP3 music player works just great.  I then went by the Val's Liquors, and I bought an 8 ounce bottle of Angostura bitters for $9.50 with tax.  I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought a four pack of day old muffins for $1.50, a half gallon of Tropicana premium orange juice with calcium for $3, three Old Orchard 70% light grape juice for $1.99 each, three Old Orchard 70% light apple and cranberry juice for $1.99 each, two 48 ounce containers of Quaker Old Fashioned Oatmeal for $4.49 each, a two pack or 1.75 ounce Stop and Shop blue toilet tablets for $2.69, two 38 ounce boxes of Pepperidge Farm whole wheat goldfish crackers for $5.35 each box, two one liter bottles of Citrus OneCare mouth wash for $2.50 each, a eye round of top round roast for $2.99 a pound for $9.24, a two pound bag of baby carrots for $2.99, fresh Chiquita bananas at .54 a pound for $1.40, broccoli crowns at $1.99 a pound for $2.13 and .46 tax for $69.52 total.  I then returned home, and I brought up my groceries with my folding cart, and I put them away.  I chatted with a fellow walker, and I told him the new Senior Center parking permits were available.  I ate one of the muffins.  I have my usual 3 P.M. appointment today.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/02/08 Wednesday 7:20 P.M.:  I ate the rest of the cold eye round of beef in the same meal as the last two nights.  I chatted with a relative.  I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go to bed soon.  Stay warm, it is suppose to go down to 10 degrees Fahrenheit tonight and tomorrow morning Greenwich, Connecticut (06830) Conditions & Forecast : Weather Underground .  CIO

and $8 ground shipping for $36.98 total arrived via Fedex FedEx | Track .  Shortly after that, my order from www.ordersmokesdirect.com arrived with 8 cartons of New York Seneca Ultra Lights 100s in a box.    I took the new Kingston 1 gigabyte memory card, and I copied my Elvis and Beatles MP3 to it.  It only seems to hold about 40% full.  I had formatted with the Default FAT and Default Sectors.  I took the similar 1 gigabyte Kingston MP3 memory card out of the Polaroid digital camera, and I formatted it the same way, and I copied some other vintage music MP3s to it including some Broadway tunes.  I then went outside, and I plugged the Wireless transmitter into the Audi cigarette lighter.  I set it a frequency 88.1 FM, and I set the Audi Radio FM1 and FM2 presets 1 and 2 to 88.1 FM.  The FM transmitter works just fine.  I left the instructions in the arm rest with the Ipod cable for it and the empty SD card case with the spare fuse.  I keep the center arm rest in its up position for local driving, and I put the other SD card with its case and the remote control in between the seats.  I have the SD card with the vintage music and Broadway tunes installed, so it is all good to go.  The FM transmitter stays on all of the time, so I have it set to Pause when not using it.  Technically, I could install it in the back seat cigarette lighter, if I had a back seat disk jockey.  It is a bit cold out, so I don't think I will be going out today, since I was out on Monday and Tuesday.  CIO
