Note: <888> 01/31/08 Thursday 3:40 A.M..  A relative wanted a copy of another relative's Christmas card.  When I went to use the Samsung all purpose machine, I had to change the USB cable from the 7 port USB adapter to the last USB port on the primary Vista CPU to get it to work.  I scanned the Christmas card, and I sent it to my relatives.  It took a bit of time.  I also used up to many resource, and the computer had to be restarted with the restart button.  The primary Vista computer with SP1 RC2 revision 2 now still take 12 to 15 minutes to still boot up completely.

Note: <888> 01/30/08 Wednesday 8:45 P.M..  I chatted with a relative.  I took a Revere five quart pot, and I filled it two thirds full with water, and I put it on the large electric burner, and I turned it on high, and I added a teaspoon of olive oil and a dash of sea salt.  It took about 15 minutes to boil with a lid on. I took a large stick proof frying pan, and I added a couple of tablespoons of olive oil and a couple of pads of 50% less fat butter.  I then peeled and minced two cloves of garlic, and I put them in the frying pan.  I then peeled and diced two medium small onions.  I then took a 8 ounce defrosted top round of beef London broil burger, and I chopped it into about half inch chunks.  I then turned on the frying pan to medium high, and once the fat began to bubble, I added the onions and the chopped meat.  I then seasoned it with garlic powder, Old Bay Seasoning, chicken and meat seasoning, beef bouillon seasoning, Italian spices, red cayenne pepper, bacon bits and ground black pepper.  I sautéed it all under the meat was browned and the onions were blanched.  I then added a 26 ounce jar of Francesco Rinaldi tomato sauce, and I mixed it all together adding a couple of tablespoon of Kikkoman low sodium soy sauce.  I brought it all to a boil, and then I put a lid on it, and I let it simmer covered with a lid over medium electric burner heat lowering it half way through to medium low and stirring it every few minutes or so.  While doing that, once the pot of water began to boil, I added a 16 ounce box of Barillo fettuccini, and I boiled it for 12 minutes stirring it occasionally.  Once it was done, I put a colander in another large pot, and I drained the water off the cooked fettuccini into the other pot.  I then put half of the fettuccini on a dinner plate, and I put the other half in a flat Rubbermaid container in the refrigerator.  I then put half of the tomato sauce on the fettuccini, and I put the other half in a round Rubbermaid container with lid, which I put in the refrigerator.  I dumped the hot water from the draining pot down the bathroom sink to clean out the soap scum.  I put a few tablespoons of Kraft grated parmesan cheese on the tomato and pasta dinner.  I ate it all with a glass of iced tea.  I chatted with a friend.  I will now go through my email.  It appears the problem with the primary Vista computer rebooting was caused by the Cablevision Digital TV cable plugged into the Hauppauge 1600 HDTV card, and since I disconnected it, it has not flashed the blue screen and crashed.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/30/08 Wednesday 5:30 P.M..  After I showered, and I cleaned up, I went downstairs, and I picked up the mail. I said hello to the building custodian and his visiting family and a neighbor.  With all of the Italians at www.ibm.com "Italian Business Machines" , their most important vendor is Planet Pizza .  I heard in the old days, they use to smuggle in motherboards in pizza boxes.  If the FIC server motherboard should go on the fritz, I have a spare identical FIC Via 400 motherboard which would work, and it is the same as the current motherboard, but it is not Via 600.  Of course my primary Vista computer Gigabyte motherboard and the two Gigabyte spare ones and the other spare one are all Via 600.  I also have a heck of a lot of other spare parts including CPU coolers and case fans and IDE cables and one good spare power supply,  and a new generic power supply, and a new 320 gigabyte Maxtor hard drive, so in a desktop CPU failure, I probably would be able to do onsite repairs in a day without ordering parts.  This morning, when I was trouble shooting the network system, I exchanged the FR114P Netgear Router from Mission Viejo, California with the one from Minnesota, and there is no problem with either one of them.  There is the possibility with the higher price of fuel in the United States of America, the internet infrastructure is not being maintained as well as it once used to be maintained, and possibly the technicians are not able to service the equipment as much as usual.  The parking lot for the ice skating rink in the back yard is full, so the town of Greenwich, Connecticut Welcome to the official Town of Greenwich Connecticut Web site is still maintaining that facility up to standard.  I have only been over there once in 24 years, and that was 21 years ago to take a friend of mine from Sao Paulo, Brazil ice skating. Although I have a strong pair of legs, I would be awkward ice skating, and I do not feel like breaking anything. CIO

Note: <888> 01/30/08 Wednesday 4:05 P.M..  I lost two days worth of email, when I restored the Vista Complete PC backup from the second hard drive to the first hard drive this morning.  However, I saved the few emails worth saving before the restore.  I will now shower and clean up.  It is not that expensive for me to shower and clean up, since last September, I bought at the Greenwich Hardware store http://www.greenwichhardware.com/  and installed a brass Find Deluxe Saver Shower Head and other Shower & Bath Repair at Aubuchon Hardware by Whedon Products The Flow Pro Model DS2C-AB Designer Saver Shower  Head which uses 1.8 to 2.5 gallons per minute at 80 PSI which can save $50 to $200 a year for $21.99 and a roll Teflon plumbers tape for free and $1.32 tax for $23.31 total.  Thus it is less expensive to shower and clean up every day, if I happen to have the time.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/30/08 Wednesday 1:20 P.M..  I was up at 8 A.M. this morning.  I restored the Vista Complete PC backup from the second hard drive to the first hard drive.  I was able to get the FIC server to go online with Vista server by disabling the Via onboard LAN, and I am just using the Netgear card.  However, I could not get it to ftp from the primary Vista computer to the FIC server, so I started up the FIC server in XP, and it seems to work just fine.  I chatted with a relative.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/30/08 Wednesday 2:05 A.M..  I have the FIC server working from Vista Server Beta SP1, but I can not get it to work from XP on the other partition.  I also can not FTP between the primary Vista computer, and the FIC server with either partition running.  I have tested all of the options.  All that I can think to do is to try the other router to see if that makes  a difference.  I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go to bed soon.  About midnight, I ate two fifths of a French butter crumb cake with some iced tea.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/29/08 Tuesday 11:45 P.M..  Both the FIC server, and the primary Vista computer were not displaying my homepage off the server.  I called up the Optimum Host provider at 1-800-504-5710 , and they told me to restart the computer and the router.  I eventually had the FIC server where they could see it in Vancouver, Canada, but my two computers here would not see it.  Both systems seem to be running fine now.  I saved the Router information, so it can be restored.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/29/08 Tuesday 6:20 P.M..  While watching the State of the Union address last night, I did a Vista Complete PC backup restore of the primary Vista computer, and the FIC server both partitions.  I left the server turned  off, when I went to bed.  I was awake at 8 A.M. this morning.  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted bagel with olive oil, orange and grape and cranraspberry juice with vitamins and supplements and coffee with milk and splenda sweetener.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  I made my bed.  I threw out the garbage, and I chatted with a neighbor.  I installed the recent updates on the FIC server XP partition, and I configured the most recent changes both on the XP and the Vista Server partitions.  On the FIC server, I did a Vista Complete PC backup of the XP and Vista partitions from the first hard drive to the second hard drive.  I showered, and I cleaned up.  I picked up my mail.  I received the order for The VistaPrint Everything must go free sale , and I ordered 10 custom letterheads for free, 250 premium business cards for free, 10 vertical large magnets with the business card information for free, a free rubber stamp with my address, and a custom made extra extra large t-shirt with a picture myself and the Audi that is on my homepage for $1.99 extra for the larger size, a $69.44 value for $1.99 and $7.45 slow 21 day shipping from Minnesota for $9.44 total.  I put one of the magnet card on the refrigerator.  I went out, and I gave one calling card to a neighbor.  I went by the New Lebannon school, and I was told the Connecticut primary is not until February 5, 2008.  I then went by the Arnold Bread Outlet, and I bought two six packs of Thomas' plain bagels for .99 each six pack and a 14 ounce Entenmann's French butter crumb cake for $2.25 for $4.23 total.  I then drove around Grass Island.  I saw a Yacht from Antigua heading south for the winter leaving the harbor.  I then went by the Chase Bank on Mason Street.  I gave one of their floor staff one of my calling cards.   I used the bathroom in the basement there.  I then went by the Greenwich Library, and I chatted with a patron from Cyprus about what I have been doing over the last 24 years or more. I gave one of my calling cards to a regular library patron and the fellow from Cyprus.  I was told Cyprus is made up by two volcanoes.  I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought green Chiquita bananas for .54 a pound for $1.57.  I then returned home.  I noticed the Cablevision equipment room door is left opened on the second floor by the elevator with the light on, so maybe Cablevision is coming this evening.  I am doing a XP ASR backup of the XP partition on the FIC server, and I will then start the Vista Server 2008 beta sp1 on the FIC server.  Computers take a bit of maintenance.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/29/08 Tuesday 12:35 A.M..  I have to vote in the Connecticut Republican Primary later on today.  Well, if I had been able to afford to buy some beach front property while I was living around the beach or traveling around the beach, I would be better off today.  Well, look at it this way, I don't have to worry about flooding.  I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go to bed soon.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/28/08 Monday 11:05 P.M..  I watched the State of the Union message.  From a Republican point of view, it was a very good speech.  I noticed one of the commentators said that the rebate bill would also include low income and social security individuals, so hopefully as an SSI recipient I will also get the rebate.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/28/08 Monday 8:35 P.M..  The President's www.whitehouse.gov is suppose to be delivered tonight at 9 P.M. on the major networks.  You can try to figure out if there are any robots in the audience of not.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/28/08 Monday 8:20 P.M..  I chatted with a relative earlier.  I disconnected the Cablevision cable that connects to the FIC server from the four way splitter in between the two laser printers.   Since neither computer has crashed or rebooted since I have them both disconnected, particularly the primary Vista computer, it would lead me to be believe my systems might be being hacked through the Cablevision cable.  Cablevision said today they do not put out a signal that would cause problems.  Possibly someone in the building or the neighborhood cable network is tampering with the Cablevision system.  However, from what I can tell both systems are still being hacked through the internet, and I am also getting denial of service attacks.  With technology today anything is possible.  When I chatted with the computer parts person on the order that was cancelled in Manhattan today, they told me they had visited Epcot center at www.disney.com recently on a 20 year old $85 ticket, when it costs more than three times that today.  I told him when I visited there in 1977 with Jimmy Eldert, I peaked behind a door that had been left ajar in an unopened exhibit, and I saw a lot of human robots, and then I explained that in the way technology has changed in 31 years since then, we could be dealing with robots today that look and act like real individuals.  For all we know the President www.whitehouse.gov is a Disney robot.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/28/08 Monday 7:10 P.M..  I made and ate my usual sautéed burger with onions and cheese, which I ate it with a microwaved potato with low salt butter and microwaved baby carrots and broccoli crowns with olive oil with a glass of iced tea.  I received a $10 check for the surveys I fill out for Knowledge Networks of Menlo Park, California.  Today I also received a UNICEF UNICEF - UNICEF Christmas card from the Dutch Royal Household The Dutch Royal House .  I think the Dutch like using Ajax cleaner instead of Comet cleaner, since Ajax is a Dutch Football team.  I send them a Christmas card every year and about 7 weeks later I get one back.  I guess the mail is still working from the Netherlands.  Since my mother is 100% Dutch from Holland, Michigan, I am half Dutch.  However, the Dutch no longer network with me anymore, since I do not visit New Amsterdam anymore.   A lot of the Dutch are multilingual, but when they speak English, they are usually thinking in several different languages, so when they finally spit it out, their English comes out sort of confusing.  I saw a Dutch kid walking around this past Saturday that looks like Jimmy Eldert use to look when he was younger, so maybe one of Jimmy's younger Dutch relatives showed up.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/28/08 Monday 4:55 P.M..   I searched the internet for any Netgear power adapters for the Netgear FR114P Prosafe Firewall/Print Server, and all I could find was used ones, so I ordered four of these similar products for 12VDC @ 800mA PLUG SUPPLY-MPJA, Inc. for $4.95 each for $19.80 subtotal and $8.86 UPS ground shipping for $28.66 total.  There is a $15 minimum order limit..  Thus I will have two power supplies for each of the three routers.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/28/08 Monday 2:45 P.M..   The order for the Netgear router power supply two Computers Plus - Detailed Product Information Netgear POWER ADAPTER FOR PS113/PS110 12VDC 800MA for $8.21 each and $10 charge for under $90 order plus UPS ground shipping of $8.56 for $34.98 total was not available, so I cancelled it.  I could order four of these similar products for 12VDC @ 800mA PLUG SUPPLY-MPJA, Inc. for $4.95 each for $19.80 subtotal and $8.86 UPS ground shipping for $28.66 total.  There is a $15 minimum order limit.   Possibly when I have money, I will order them next month.  They should work with the Netgear router, and there is no rush since plenty are available.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/28/08 Monday 12:45 P.M..  I went out, and I chatted with a neighbor.  I checked the mail, but it is not here yet.  I threw out the garbage, and I found two spare www.ge.com microwave round glass trays in a broken G.E. microwave by the dumpster.  When I was coming upstairs, I noticed the door to the Cablevision room with the stored air conditioners was left open.  I closed it.  Maybe somebody has been tampering with the Cablevision setup in the building.  I put the two spare G.E. glass trays in between the two small tables at the kitchen entrance.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/28/08 Monday 11:45 A.M..  I woke up at 8 A.M. this morning.  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted bagel with olive oil, orange and grape and cranraspberry juice with vitamins and supplements and coffee with milk and splenda sweetener.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  I made my bed.  I chatted with four security officials about the computer and internet problems that I have been having.  The primary FIC server was once again hacked again by the Monday morning hacker.  When I booted the primary Vista computer, it has not crashed with the Cable TV cable disconnected from it, but all of the audio devices were not working, and I was able to enable them by disabling them and enabling them, so it would seem somebody is still hacking my computers through the internet.  Basically it would seem the computer and internet technology is not reliable as it exists today, and if I had an important message to get through, I would use a stamp and a letter and the post office, which seems to be more reliable.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/28/08 Monday 12:20 A.M..  From what I know one of the Roosevelt boys was involved in building the Norwalk Aquarium, so more than likely the same group of Roosevelt democrats could be tampering with the electronics in the Cablevision system.  I would not put it past them.  Of course the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) could always pull their license to teach them a lesson and possibly bankrupt them.  I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go to bed soon.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/27/08 Sunday 8:10 P.M..  I woke up at 7 A.M..  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted bagel with olive oil, orange and grape and cranraspberry juice with vitamins and supplements and coffee with milk and splenda sweetener.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  I made my bed.  I chatted with a relative.  I went outside, and  checked out the outside environment.  I chatted with a neighbor.  I browsed the internet a bit.  I read the previous issues of www.forbes.com and the most recent issue of U.S. News and World Report.  I took a nap in the recliner.  I ate a 3.5 ounce tube of Pringle sour cream and onion potato chips with some iced tea.  I took another nap in the recliner.  I watched the movie the "Godfather III" .  I've seen it before.  I chatted with a relative.  I microwaved a Stauffer's 21 ounce frozen lasagna, and I put some grated parmesan cheese on it with oregano, and I ate it with a glass of iced tea.  Not much happening out here in the far side of town.  I guess everyone is staying cabin bound, trying to save on energy, so hopefully they can continue to go to work and afford to live here.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/24/08 Thursday 3:40 A.M..  I think I had a telephone call from a relative while I was asleep.  I woke up at 12:30 A.M..  I called up a local security group, and I told them about my energy depleted condition.  I mentioned that a blond haired blue eyed son of Arab banker had emailed me.  The individual use to live out in Sands Point, Long Island where the Harriman family lived.  I went to the Taft School in Watertown, Connecticut with the individual, and the individual use to like playing ice hockey.  Well, we have an ice rink in the back yard, but I don't know if they can afford to turn on the electric lights.  The local security individual suggested that I try using a space heater.   Since I have the electric baseboard heaters turned off in the apartment, it was 62.5 degrees Fahrenheit in the apartment.  I also have two DeLonghi oil filled electric radiators.  One is by the sweater closet and the French reproduction chair.  I keep it turned off.  I moved the other one from in front of the chair by the Sony television to the left of the Chinese computer desk with the laptop computer, and I plugged it into the power strip for the FIC server, and I used the decoy place mat from underneath the new HP laser printer to cover the Delonghi cord which runs across the living room entrance sitting area.  I then turned it on to medium setting power level 4 of 6.  It is currently about 66 degrees in that immediate area.  I then hung one of my large picture post cards on the upper outside of the apartment entrance door.  I took out the Saudi Arabian flag, and I hung it over the left living room closet, so now it is displayed in the living room.  Despite the fact that women have no rights in Saudi Arabia from my viewpoint no women live in my apartment, and my father used to work for Aramco amongst other oil companies, so I now have the Saudi Arabian flag flying, but it is not much warmer in the apartment except around the DeLonghi oil filled radiator.  From previous experience it seems the DeLonghi oil filled radiators give out a better quality more even heat, but they seem to use more electricity for the amount of heat produced compared to the electric baseboard radiators.  I will turn it off when I leave the apartment, and when I go to bed.   I ate breakfast of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted bagel with olive oil, orange and grape and cranraspberry juice with vitamins and supplements and coffee with milk and splenda sweetener.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  I made my bed.  I will now do some regular computer work.  I will now make up another batch of passion punch.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/23/08 Wednesday 12:10 P.M..  I woke up at 9 A.M. this morning.  I checked my www.chase.com accounts, and once again I had been charged $12 for having too many online transfers.  I called up the Mason Street branch, and I chatted with their most senior account manager, and I explained the situation.  They told me they keep track of the six times that one can transfer money not from the first of the month, but when they post their statements, which is later in the month.  They agreed to refund the $12.  I then called up the www.whitehouse.gov , and I explained to them they should get rid of the old 1920s wire transfer law that is still on the books, because it interferes with internet banking transactions.  The person that answered the telephone at the White House did not sound old enough to vote.  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted bagel with olive oil, orange and grape and cranraspberry juice with vitamins and supplements and coffee with milk and splenda sweetener.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  I made my bed.    I then went downstairs, and I chatted with some neighbors, and I threw out some garbage, and I picked up my mail.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/23/08 Wednesday 2:45 A.M..  I am always like the Maytag repairman, and I am not much aware of anything going on all of the time.  Much the same was with me, when I stayed at the Van Deusen town house in Manhattan on an off from 1980 to 1982, and my friend that let me use the apartment was a legal secretary for Cyrus Vance.  There were cold winters after Mount St. Helens down to minus 26 degrees Fahrenheit.  However, my friend had two dogs a White German Shepard a Doberman that I had to walk frequently up to six times a day to keep the dogs healthy, so I knew the neighborhood quite well.  On the night Ronald Reagan first arrived in Manhattan, I walked the white Sheppard from the Van Deusen town house at 315 West 74th street behind the Eagle Brook school and across from the Schwab house, and the dog and I walked east on West 72nd street through Central Park New York, and I brought the white Sheppard into the Waldorf Astoria, and all of Ronald Reagan's secret service agents were happy to see it, and they photographed it with a Polaroid camera.  My friend's father was a resident of Santa Barbara, California.  When the dog and I walked back through Central Park, there  was a commotion around the Dakota, and a passer by told me that John Lennon had been shot, so about a year later, I moved out of the neighborhood as I recall and after a boring trip to Key West, I built the garage apartment in Plandome Manor, Long Island in old man Grumman's neighborhood who was blind, so if her mother came back up from Tobago in the winter, she would have a warm substitute for the colder house.  It was about 7,000 hours work at $1.15 an hour which included storm windows, a foot of insulation in the ceiling and a built out north wall with a foot of insulation.  The garage had a 25 foot long steam radiator fed off the primary house German ship boiler which would have produced more heat in the primary house, but the interior decorators had painted over the bleeder valves on the steam radiators.  I replaced the ones that I was able to replace, and I also found the right one at the Wright Brother's Hardware store in Manhasset, Long Island to use on the long 25 foot steam radiator.  So the house was warm and comfortable back in February 1982, when I left with my years wages of $8,000 they paid me at the end for all of the work.  I visited relatives in Florida,  with  trips to the Washington D.C. area, New Haven, and I finally tried to move to Oslo, Norway, where they are suppose to have better social services, but the Norwegian and the United States government deported me back, and charged my family a $1,000.  I did not originally intend to visit Norway, but at J.F.K. airport, I had paid $825 in travelers checks to the www.sas.com counter attendant for the Round Trip S.A.S. package advertised in the New York Times to Stockholm, Sweden and a week stay at the S.A.S. hotel there.  Thus S.A.S. robbed me, and the Norwegians basically kidnapped me, because the Stockholm bound flight landed at the military airport in Oslo, and everyone got off the flight.  All the pilots were drinking Vodka in the rear of the flight during the long long flight.  We flew over mostly trees the whole way and not ocean.   While at Oslo, Norway, I stayed the Y.M.C.A., and they kicked me out after a couple of nights, and they let me stay at the West Hotel behind the palace for the rest of my stay.  I did not eat much because by that time, I was running out of money.  I returned via Copenhagen, but since I did not have funds, I stayed in the airport, and I ended up at J.F.K. for a week without money sleeping rough in the terminal at Easter time, and finally I returned to Nantucket, and I went back to work at the Languedoc.  What I do remember that I heard later in the news was the apartment at 315 West 74th street was two doors west of Sidney Biddle Barrows apartment better known as the Mayflower Madam.  Thus all of the long black stretch limousines I saw coming and going at what I thought was a luxury town house were the girls and customers, and I never figured that out while living there.  Well I am a bit tired, so I will now go back to bed soon.  Shut down time.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/23/08 Wednesday 12:50 A.M..  I woke up from my nap yesterday at 11 A.M..  I threw out some garbage, and I picked up my mail, and I made my bed.  I ate some chicken Ramen noodles with a glass of iced tea.  I showered, and I cleaned up.  I then went to my 3 P.M. appointment.  I was told by my 3 P.M. appointment that my www.cl-p.com energy assistance from the Federal government would adjust my budget amount that I pay on electricity, so for the next year instead of paying $181 a month, I will pay $135.  However, it does not give me anymore money to have for electricity than what I already have.  I then returned home.  I relaxed a bit.  I ate the reheated spaghetti dinner that I made yesterday.  I chatted with a relative.  The order for NetGear FR114P Router - Like new condition! - eBay (item 140198080049 end time Jan-19-08 08:35:48 PST) for $14.95 and $9 UPS shipping for $23.95 total arrived.  However, it did not come with its power supply.  I switched it around with the one that I already had using its power supply, and I updated its firmware, and I configured it.  The one that arrived today works just great.  I tested the other unit that I had taken off with a 12 volt 500 mA transformer that I had, and it works as well as with the Coba multivolt unit.  However, since they are on all of the time, I searched the net, and I ordered two Computers Plus - Detailed Product Information Netgear POWER ADAPTER FOR PS113/PS110 12VDC 800MA for $8.21 each and $10 charge for under $90 order plus UPS ground shipping of $8.56 for $34.98 total.  Now I will have the original new power supply for the unit that I got today, and a spare one for the three units in total that I have.  Since one of them runs all of the time with the server, I feel it is necessary to have the backup parts.  It is a modest expense to support my overall operation.  I put the other Netgear Router in its box with the 500mA power adapter that works with it.  I transferred the D-link router with its Siemens power supply to the Linksys box the Netgear router arrived with today.  I chatted with a friend.  CIO

Windows Server 2008 launch, free software to attendees Heroes Happen Here :: Register For an Event

I registered for the New York General attendees Infrastructure IT Pro event, but I will have to wait to see if I am accepted.  If excepted, I am not sure whether I will attend.  Generally I avoid Manhattan for security reasons.  Not that it would be dangerous for me, but I am not very good at crossing busy city streets and dealing with traffic and lots of people, and the large amount of noise frequently disorients me.  It would be too costly to go to Hartford.  I already have three licenses of Windows Server 2008 as a beta tester, but I am not sure whether they expire or not.  It a most excellent server program, and it is hardly ever hacked, but the reason I do not always run it is that it does not have footers for

Mike Scott's Stats and Ads .  Also some of my programs do not work with it as a server, and I already have a copy of XP Professional that I am using on the server. CIO

Note: <888> 01/22/08 Tuesday 3:35 A.M..  I put the 12 inch Griswold frying pan on the large electric burner on medium high to medium electric burner heat, and I fried four strips of bacon, flipping them several times.  I then drained them with two paper towels on a plate.  I poured the bacon grease into a fat jar that I keep in the refrigerator.  I had already broken three extra large jumbo eggs in a metal bowl, and I added a tablespoon of milk and a few dashes of Italian seasoning, and I used a whisk to mix it all together.  I then put a couple of tablespoons of olive oil and a couple of pads of 50% less fat butter in the hot Griswold frying pan on medium electric burner heat, and once the fat bubbled, I added the egg mixture, and once the eggs began to harden, I scrambled them with a spatula.  At the same time I toasted a bagel, which I spread two pads of 50% less butter on each half.  I ate it all with a glass of iced tea.  Back during the oil embargo of the early 1970s, we mostly lived on scrambled eggs, English muffins and bacon, and coffee, which usually after being up all night patrolling New York City, we would have at some convenient diner or restaurant for about $2.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/22/08 Tuesday 2:15 A.M..  I woke up at 8:30 P.M.  I ate a 1/5th piece of apple pie.  I went out, and I went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought a dozen extra large jumbo eggs for $2.49 which expire February 16, 2008, a two pound bag of baby carrots for $2.99, Chiquita bananas at .54 a pound for $1.71, and broccoli crowns at $1.99 a pound for $2.21 for $9.40 total.  I chatted with a couple of staff like I always do.   There are signs posted in the dairy section saying that the price of milk and dairy products are going up world wide.  It takes a lot of expensive feed to feed dairy cows, so since feed is more expensive, their products go up.  I then went by the Greenwich Automotive Exxon Service station, and I bought $6 of self service premium unleaded gasoline at $3.799 a gallon for 1.58 gallons for 10.5 miles driving and 45 minutes idling for the last six days since last Tuesday at odometer reading of 59,457 miles for 6.646 miles per gallon with all of the idling that I have been doing.  I then went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.  I noticed they still have the old vintage Mercedes 220 SE convertible for sale at Carriage House Motors.  They are painting the show room.  The Greenwich Taxi stand waiting room is quite warm, and they just painted it, and the taxi drivers were gambling with dice.  From the Greenwich Train Station Plaza, I could see the usual amount of traffic on I-95, so lots of people are still driving.  There were no computer items discarded at the train station parking dumpster area.  I walked up to the top of Greenwich Avenue and back down.  I noticed at the top of Greenwich Avenue in the first parking space in front of the Chase Bank www.chase.com , there is a small blue Toyota always parked there.  It is a Toyota Yaris http://www.toyota.com/yaris/index.html , so that must be an inexpensive high miles per gallon car.  The former manager of the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop use to drive a Hyundai Accent or similar model, before she retired to Rhode Island.  After I finished my walk, I drove back down on the waterfront on Steamboat Road, and the retired U.S. Army colonel is back at his house on the end of the road on the left with his black Mercedes Benz from Maryland.  He looks like a younger version of my diseased step father, so maybe he is related.  The senior former military person in the area, probably still would be Al Haig, since he was a five star general.   Of course in Brazil, they have 20 star generals that nobody pays any attention to.  The lights seemed to be still working out on Long Island, and it is a clear view across Long Island Sound.  The Benedict house is all lighted up, so maybe the Tammany Hall New York politicians are out here again.  I then returned home.  It is a bit cold in my apartment, and it is currently 64.6 degrees Fahrenheit in the apartment.  I am wearing my leisure clothes, my Gap long underwear and my L.L. Bean long underwear with a knit blue Rossignol :: Pure mountain company ski cap that I found on Greenwich Avenue last winter. I also have on my wool socks and new fleece lined house slippers and to be a bit warmer, I am wearing a baby blue wool scarf.  It sort of feels like one were sitting outside on a fall day.  Not much going on here.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/21/08 Monday 1:50 P.M..  I chatted with a relative.  The telephone rang twice, but nobody was there, and I went downstairs to see if a package had arrived.  There was no package, but the elevator is out of order, and the Greenwich Housing Authority has been called.  It worked fine this morning, when I did my laundry.  I also had a computer magazine telephone call. While doing that, once the pot of water began to boil, I added a 16 ounce box of Barillo fettuccini, and I boiled it for 12 minutes stirring it occassionally. After every meal, I clean up the dishes, although I never mention it in my notes.  I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go to bed soon.  Stay warm. Note: <888> 01/21/08 Monday 10:25 A.M..  Around the apartment today in the colder temperature of the apartment, I am wearing the L.L. Bean red long underwear over my leisure clothes with my red heavy duty terry cloth robe and a heavy blue knit Speedo cap and my new wool lined house slippers with heavy wool socks.  I will not wear the new house slippers outside the building to keep them clean on the bottom.  I have an older pair to wear for brief trips outside the building.  The inside temperature of the living room is currently 68 degrees Fahrenheit.  I went downstairs, and I chatted with a couple of neighbors.  They told me the New England patriots and the New York Giants will be playing in the Superbowl in Arizona.  I opened a package of chicken Ramen noodles, and I put them in a quart Rubbermaid container with the ingredients of the flavor package, and I covered them with water, and I put the lid with a hole on top, and I microwaved them on one beverage cycle, and then I put them in a bowl with a little Italian seasoning on them.  I ate it with a glass of iced tea.  I chatted with another one of my friends just back in Manhattan from Georgia.  They were at Madison Avenue and 86th street, and I suggested that they stop by Bloomingdales at 86th street and 3rd Avenue on the northwest corner to get heavy knit caps.  Southern people never dress warm enough for New York City.  I mentioned a delicatessen that use to be just east of 3rd Avenue on the south side of 86th street, but they told me it was gone.  At mid block between 84th street and 85th street on the east side of third avenue, there used to be the Old Dutch Deli, and I recall a block further south on the same side, there use to be a Hungarian restaurant that served goulash for about $2, but that all was in the early 1970s, so times might have changed.  In very cold weather cell phone batteries do not last as long.  I will now go through my email.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/21/08 Monday 7:25 A.M..  I put away the laundry.  I have to air dry the red wool Pendleton shirt and the white wool long underwear.  The grey synthetic long underwear from the gap, I machine dried.  I showered, and I cleaned up.  I put on the new pair Two-Layer Union Suit, Men's: Hunting Gear and Apparel at L.L.Bean in XX Large Tall in color red for $34.95 and $5.95 shipping for $40.90.  They are so warm and comfortable, I turned down the living room heat to 60 degrees Fahrenheit, and I turned off the two tower fans.  I then went outside, and I threw out 15 old eggs and the garbage, and it was 13 degrees Fahrenheit according to the 1998 Audi A6 owned by Michael Scott temperature gauge, and it started right up the first try immediately without a seconds delay.  It speaks well for quality German engineering.  It had not been started since this past Thursday.  It has a four year old NAPA battery that was put in up in Kennebunkport, Maine four years ago.  I idled it for 25 minutes to charge up its battery, and I set the internal heat to maximum, so the Audi is fully warmed up.  I did a system check, and it came up "OK".  Thus I would say it is a very reliable car for starting on a cold winter's day.  It idles at 800 RPM, so it probably was not using as much gasoline as it would if one were driving it for the same period.  It takes a while for the heated driver's seat to warm up, and I think it comes on automatically, since I could not find a switch for it.  I only have used 9.1 miles on a full tank of gasoline, but I have idled it all together about 40 minutes on two different occasions.  I also sat out briefly for a while.  It is biting cold out, so one has to dress for the conditions.  I wore my heavy red terry cloth robe over my long underwear when I went out, but I did not wear gloves, and when sitting outside, my hands started to get a bit cold.  I emptied the outside ashtray at the north end of the building.  I could hear a neighbor coughing continually in an apartment nearby, but I am not sure which one.  I guess I will now do a little bit of regular computer work.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/21/08 Monday 4:50 A.M..  I turned the living room thermostat back up to 78 degrees Fahrenheit, and I still have the two tower fans going to blow the heat around the apartment.  After the laundry is done in five minutes, I will put it away.  I will then shower and clean up, which I have not done since this past Thursday.  The only thing I really need downtown is bananas, and I don't think it is worth making a special trip downtown in cold weather to get bananas.  Current outside temperature is 13 degrees Fahrenheit.  The Audi use to be left in the garage in Kennebunkport, Maine all winter, and only started up once a week or so, so I don't think it will hurt it, if I don't start it up every day.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/21/08 Monday 3:45 A.M..  The apartment is warm enough, so I turned the living room thermostat down to 70 degrees fahrenheit, and I turned the bedroom thermostat down to 60 degrees Fahrenheit.  I am doing two loads of laundry, and I am also doing a third load to wash the white quilted cover from the Ethan Allen recliner.  I put clean linens on the bed.  I have 10 minutes to go on the wash cycle.  I will eat breakfast during the dry cycle.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/21/08 Monday 2:35 A.M..   I woke up at midnight, and I also had a telephone call from a friend earlier that is back in Manhattan, and I might have had a telephone call from a relative.  It is currently 15 degreed Fahrenheit outside, and it is suppose to go down to 10 degrees Fahrenheit this morning.  On this web page Compuvest Corp. Switches , they show this refurbished item regularly $460 for $20 Compuvest Corp. Nortel BayStack 450-24T Switch Ethernet 10/100Mbps 24-Ports Refurbished AL2012A14  and $23.61 FedEx shipping which would be $43.61 total.  It weights 11.7 pounds, and it is 17.4 inches long, which is if I got it, it would require me to have the Minolta 1250W printer stand sitting on it with about 15 pounds of weight.  It seems to sturdy enough to support it.  However, it is a stackable Ethernet switch, and I am not tech savvy to know if it would work with my current system or not, or if it would need other components.  Right now I do not really need it, but it is an option if I needed an inexpensive replacement for my 16 port Netgear FS516.  In an emergency, I have the 8 port D-link switch and the 4 port Netgear switch which could be connected together for 13 ports.  I feel in the colder weather it is important to keep a little bit of money in reserve towards the end of the month.  The Audi has been starting up all right after three days of not being used in the winter.  I also have two heavy duty jump start systems if there was a problem.  The Audi's battery has a cover, so if one had to jump it, the cover underneath the hood would have to be removed some how.  I will now eat breakfast of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted bagel with olive oil, orange and grape and cranraspberry juice with vitamins and supplements and coffee with milk and splenda sweetener.  It is currently 70.2 degrees Fahrenheit inside the apartment.  I have a dozen eggs that I bought November 30, 2007, but this Ask Mr Breakfast -- When do eggs go bad? How long do they last after the date on the package?  says they would not be any good.  I keep forgetting to eat some eggs recently, and they always seem to go bad, before I eat them.  Maybe I am living too high on the hog.  Anyway, I will throw out the eggs.  CIO

I ate a piece of apple pie.

Well, even though its cold, it is a sunny day.

Swiss Sausage Crisis: How Bad? , my father once built a sausage casing factory for TeePak in Columbia, South Carolina, or somewhere near there.

Well, to be truthful, I once visited San Clemente, California to see the former house of Richard Nixon on the beach.  What surprised me it was on the north side of the entrance to Camp Pendleton, the U.S. Marine Corps base www.marine.mil , however I noticed a lot of long haired surfer types in the downtown area just outside the base.  I was told they were military brats, and they had their own sense of style.  That was back in 1978, so they must be old men by now.

Of course, they are use to warmer weather out there, so they probably do not make it up into the north country very much, unless they learn to travel.  What is interesting is that a great many California people are content where they are, and they have no interest in exploring Back East as they say. Ronald Reagan was if I am not mistake the third president from California, and Richard Nixon was the second one, and Herbert Hoover was the first one.  I once read that if California were a separate country, it would be the sixth largest economy in the world, so there must be quite a bit of money out there, unlike the economically ravaged New York area.  When www.exxon.com was headquartered in Manhattan and when www.texaco.com was headquartered in White Plains, New York, there was a lot more prosperity in this area.  Recently it just seems to be financial people handing foreign investments for unknown parties, and the old time residents have been pretty much left out in the cold so to speak.  When I worked for a German American family in 1982 for a year out in Long Island, they paid me $1.15 an hour for 7,000 hours of construction work, so they are not really enjoyable to work for, if you get my drift.  Whatever the real case, rich people have lawyers, so if one complains they just hide behind their lawyers.  I have a feeling if it has happened to me, it has happened to a lot of other people.  Up in Nantucket, the last nine months I worked there in 1983, I made $8.75 an hour, but at age 33 as a dishwasher, I was being burnt out working all of the time trying to afford to live on the rather expensive island.  I recall I left the island with about a $100 check and that was it after nine months of work.  I also did not drink alcohol very much on Nantucket, I would occasionally have a beer.  I might have looked like I was drinking since I was working over 80 hour weeks in a very hot sweaty job.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/20/08 Sunday 2:00 P.M..   I don't drink alcohol, but I know the Food Emporium in Port Chester, New York has a large alcohol and beer section, and if I am not mistaken in New York State, one can buy liquor on Sundays.  It comes from the fact that with 40 million people living within a hundred miles of Manhattan, there are all sorts of people working different work schedules 24 hours a day seven days a week, so the local New York state merchants try to meet their customers' needs as fits their schedules.  In my frequent calls to www.whitehouse.gov , it seems they only work 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. five week days, so not as much gets done compared to a larger group of people whom seem to work around the clock all of the time.  Of course, when one works longer hours, one has to pace oneself.  A lot of it comes from experience.  CIO

Plus $2.99 rush order fee and Less $2.99 preferred account fee and $8.34 one day delivery which would possibly mean this Tuesday or Wednesday for $98.33 total, since even in the best of times, I can not really afford it, and if something happens to my current Netgear switch, I still have the older eight port switch.  Currently, I am only using 12 switches on my 16 port Netgear switch, and I have only five lights turned on when I run the primary and server computers.  It is nice to have backup parts, but I might want to drive my Audi a little bit more now that I don't have much computer work to do anymore.  Since I have done this computer activity for a lot of years, and since I am getting older, I might want to continue with my computer activity, but I might want to refocus some of my energy into other directions besides computers, the internet, exercise walking, and daily maintenance routines.  Although it has kept me busy, I grew up before the personal computer and the internet revolution, so I try to keep in focus some of the other cultural skills I might have learned in the larger world around us.  Since Redmond, Washington is way out in the boon docks, I do not expect their newly minted money to have the same pan age as some of the old guard types whom manage to survive around here.  Quite frankly in Greenwich, Connecticut a bottle of Jack Daniels jackdaniels.com makes more friends than a laptop computer.  Having lived down south around kindly gentle southern people, I know that they work hard, but they also seem to have a certain cultural pattern of enjoying certain social functions, and if one really wanted to know where the cheapest 1.75 liter bottle of Jack Daniels is at the Riverside Shopping Plaza at the A&P liquor store, but they are not opened on Sunday in Connecticut, because we still have blue laws.  Alas having worked in resorts for many years, I have learned to cater to the visiting clientele whom usually seem to be able to afford to pay their bills.  Thus we are not in debt anymore.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/20/08 Sunday 12:50 P.M..  I chatted with a relative.  I watched part of a Zorro movie on television.  I used the Swivel Sweeper to do a light cleaning of my carpets, and I am now charging its battery pack which takes about two hours.  It is handy for picking of light amounts of traffic debris.  It is suppose to go down to 10 degrees Fahrenheit tonight, so it might be a bit colder in the apartment without the electric heat on, but the apartment seems to be retaining its heat.  I suppose with the lights, electronics, and appliances, they might generate a bit of heat.  I turn on the Honeywell Hepa air purifier for a couple of hours when I cook with onions.  I will try to stay up until about 5 P.M. today, so I will be back on more of a daytime schedule.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/20/08 Sunday 11:35 A.M..  I chatted with the United States Army Military police at 1-845-938-3333 United States Military Academy CONTRACT SERVICES FAQ over at www.usma.edu , and they told me that only people with United States Military Department of Defense Military Identification can use the Post Commissary and buy their product line at military discount prices.  I wonder if they sell gasoline over there at discount prices too.  I threw out the garbage.  One of my neighbors has a large mirror in the back of his pick up truck, so it causes a lot of glare in the parking area outside, and probably distorts the satellite view of the area.   Since 1959, the www.nasa.gov spy satellites could read the fine printing on a Marlboro box, if you get my drift wood.  When I was down in Key West, Florida, and I left in 1978 with a friend whose grandfather was a colonel in the U.S. Army based in Atlanta, Georgia, I explained to him I read about the www.dartmouth.com United States Army Cold Weather Studies program, but I could never afford to drive that far north to see what it is all about up in the snow belt.  From what I know, we are just keyboard jockeys down here around www.ibm.com , and not many people seem to think whatever IBM does is very important in terms of some of the personnel that might be in the area.  Of course in the old days, they called IBM, "I've Been Moved", the local Italian Mafia called it "Italian Business Machines", the tobacco salesman from Houston, Texas I once met up around the www.hughes.com facility in Danbury, Connecticut called it "Ity Bitty Minds", so whatever the real presence of IBM in the world today is opened to debate.  I was told that Armonk, New York is just a display museum of some of the older products that they used to make, so maybe they are doing something more modern in other parts of the world.  Of course their primary business has not been involved in the personal computer business for a long time, so unless one is ready to shell out big bucks for a Super Computer that might become quickly outdated and know how to use it and service it, you would be wasting your cigarette money bothering them.  From what I know which is not much, IBM is a professional business company, but it costs a lot of money to deal with them in this environment.  For example a Firewall program from IBM can cost over a $100,000 ; thus possibly it might actually work.  I chatted with some neighbors.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/20/08 Sunday 9:45 A.M.. Earlier I reset the Northgate Syntax Vista RC1 beta installation, so its final date of use it February 19, 2008.  After that I can install the final release version good for another four months or as long as I feel like reinstalling it and configuring it which takes quite a bit of time.  Currently it is 20 degrees Fahrenheit outside Greenwich, Connecticut (06830) Conditions & Forecast : Weather Underground , and it is 68.4 degrees Fahrenheit inside in the living room with the living room thermostat set at 50 degrees Fahrenheit.  Hopefully I am saving a bit of money on my www.cl-p.com bill without keeping the apartment heat too high.  Since we live in an active business community, we frequently have a lot of business travelers in the area, but nobody ever contacts me, since I am not in business.  From what I can tell, the cost of doing business and traveling to this area is very expensive, so usually only those corporate individuals whom are well financed seem to be able to afford to travel into this area.

Hawaii discovered by Captain James Cook on this day January 20, 1778.  So Europeans have only been going to Hawaii for 230 years Hawaii --  Britannica Online Encyclopedia .  Maybe Jimmy Eldert is really Maui Jim.  It was my understanding that Captain James Cook was eaten by cannibals on one his trips to Hawaii.  Cooks Travel use to be in Greenwich, Connecticut, so maybe all of the rest of their customers were also eaten by cannibals, and nobody ever returned to tell the story.  I actually have been to Hawaii, but I was darkly tanned, and I dressed up a like I was from the Philippines, so maybe they did not realize I was European American.   When I am darkly tanned, I have more of a French look, which some people mistake for a Spanish look.  I have been to Spain, and the Spanish tend not to be very tanned, particularly in the winter.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/20/08 Sunday 8:05 A.M..  I printed out a paper copy of my computer list.  It runs 48 pages.  I put it on the Toshiba laptop with the Internet Beach Bum print out.  Earlier I ate two bowls of goldfish crackers.  I will now eat the same dinner as the last of four nights consisting of a sautéed burger with onions and cheese along with a microwaved potato with three pads of 50% less fat butter and a cup of microwaved steamed baby carrots and broccoli crowns along with a glass of iced tea.  Seems to be all quiet on the eastern front.  The reality of this area in the daytime is that there is an extremely large population density, but late at night and the morning hours, it is mostly like being the Maytag repairman.  They've returned Freemasons return to Greenwich - Greenwich Time .  I remember in the old days, they use to drive around in go carts at the St. Patrick's Day parade.  Granddad Scott was a 33rd degree Scottish Rite mason from the Champaign, Illinois lodge. My father was always too busy working to have time for fraternal organizations.  Much could be said for the same as me.  I noticed in the article they have a bar in their lodge and police officers are involved in the organization, so I guess they have to walk to and from their meetings, since Greenwich, Connecticut has an extremely tough drinking alcohol and driving law enforcement. I guess they could ride a bicycle to their meetings.  Some old timers drink, so they don't have to listen to their wives all of the time.  Tom Watson of www.ibm.com was a mason, and so was Gerald R. Ford.  I have an old broken dinner plate in my apartment by the toilet from the Putnam Lodge Masonic lodge, but those were the days when Greenwich, Connecticut was a farming community with lots of trees, so there was more heat and food with a working railroad carrying coal and working farms.  Alas the high tech business community seem to earn a lot of money here, but they do not seem to spend that much money here, since most them are New York City residents.  CIO

I am currently using a Netgear FS516 that I bought as a refurbished item for $44 two years ago, and since it runs all of the time, I thought at the rebate price of about $68.33 with shipping for a new item, it was worth buying.  I charged it, instead of paying for it.  Thus I am back in debt again.  I have an older 8 port D-link switch that might be handy in an emergency, but now I will be able use my older Netgear FS516 for backup.  It does take a lot of time and money to maintain the rather complex computer systems setup that I maintain in my apartment.  CIO

Note: <888> 01/20/08 Sunday 1:00 A.M..  I chatted with two friends after the last note.  I told one friend that is involved with race horses that the locals down in Ocala, Florida are eating their race horses, since they can not afford to feed them.  A relative told me about the story from www.tcpalm.com .  The Vero Beach newspaper is owned by the www.nytimes.com , so it should have fairly reliable news.  I had email back from a Taft classmate asking what about Watch Hill, Rhode Island.  I replied that I had never been to Watch Hill, Rhode Island, but my father had a friend Harvey Thayer who was an engineer at www.polaroid.com , and he had a summer place at Watch Hill, Rhode Island.  From what I know Watch Hill, Rhode Island is suppose to be a traditional New England summer community.  I think the old hotel there is only opened in the summer and not in the winter.  I went to bed about 2 P.M.  I had a telephone call from a relative.  I woke up at 10 P.M..  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted bagel with olive oil, orange and grape and cranraspberry juice with vitamins and supplements and coffee with milk and splenda sweetener.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  I made my bed.  I threw out some garbage, and I checked the Audi, and I picked up my mail.  Things are not any better or worse here than they have ever been.  This is pretty much the same type of routine that I have been through, since I first moved here in 1961.  However, since I now live in a smaller apartment instead of a big house, I have more free time for my internet activity and other computer activity, where as when one lives in a larger house, there is always a lot more to do.  I am not going downtown as much, since the energy to go downtown might come in more handy to keep my apartment warmer if it gets colder.  There was plenty of people whom live downtown, so they do not need me down there all of the time, since they are tending to stay more local anymore.  It is currently 66 degrees Fahrenheit in my apartment with the living room thermostat turned down to 50 degrees Fahrenheit, and one tends to get use to it after a while.  A friend of mine from Vermont says he keeps his apartment at 68 degrees Fahrenheit at St. Mary's By the Sea in East Fairfield Beach, Connecticut a condominium complex on the waterfront which is part of Bridgeport, Connecticut.  Since he works at Country Living Associates Richard Van Marter, Wilton, Connecticut , and he moved out of Redding, Connecticut since he got Lyme disease four times in three years, so hopefully around the waterfront, there are less deer tick, but that is not the case in Old Lyme, Connecticut.  He paid $225,000 each for two 1250 square foot one bedroom condos on the waterfront, and he pays $225 a month maintenance on each and $1,200 a year in property tax on each, and he rents one to pay for the other.  Since he is in the town of Bridgeport, Connecticut he is part of their school district with less taxes than Fairfield, but he claims the fresh produce is cheaper as is the price of fuel.  He says the electric bills in his apartment are only about $60 a month, but I would imagine, that does not include the heat.  Thus being in real estate in this area that is the decision he made.  I showed him property in Greenwich, Connecticut for 22 years, and although he looked at a number of places for less than $400,000 many years ago, he never bought here.  Originally he could have bought a house on Steamboat Road for less than $350,000.  Now I don't think there is anything there for less than $2,000,000; so he would have made money, if he had bought here.  I am not going downtown as much anymore, also because at my age, I get a bit uncomfortable walking and sitting out in the cold at night, and I am quite comfortable in my own apartment.  CIO
