TODAY I WENT CANOEING WITH RICHARD UP AROUND DANBURY. WE CAME BACK DOWN TO

GREENWICH AND HAD DINNER. WE WENT INTO NEW YORK TO SEVERAL BARS AND HAD A

COUPLE

OF BARS. RAN INTO SOREN JORGENSEN IN GREENWICH VILLAGE EARLY SUNDAY

MORNING. WE DROVE HIM OUT TO HIS CAR IN DOBBS FERRY, AND FROM THERE FOLLOWED

HIM TO HIS APARTMENT IN NORWALK. HE HAS A NICE APARTMENT, BUT HE FEELS IT’S

NOT IN THE RIGHT NEIGHBORHOOD. HE SEEMS SINCERE AND FAIRLY INTELLIGENT. HE

SPENT FIFTEEN YEARS IN THE ROYAL DANISH BALLET, AND IS STILL IN GOOD SHAPE AT

31. HE HAS A NEW PORSCHE AND SEEMS FAIRLY SUCCESSFUL IN HIS BUSINESS. HIS

PARENTS KEEP HORSES. WOULD LIKE TO SEE HIM AGAIN. SOREN HAS A COMPUTER SO HE

KNOWS HOW TO OPERATE THEM. HE IS INTO HIS SOLAFLEX MACHINE.

WENT TO BED AT 7:30 AM. MOM CALLED AT 11:30 A.M., AND WAS A LITTLE TIRED FROM

GETTING READY FOR THE TRIP TO ENGLAND, AND ENTERTAINING GEORGE’S SONS. I AROSE

AT 3PM AND SAT IN THE SHORE PARK WITH RICHARD DOWN BY THE WATER CHATTING

FOR A WHILE. I COOKED DINNER FOR US AND THEN WENT BACK UP TO HIS PLACE FOR MY

CAR. DID LAUNDRY ON RETURNING AND READ THE SUNDAY PAPERS. WORKED ON THE

COMPUTER LATE AT NIGHT.

JUNE 11 199112 DAILY ACTIVITY 061191 SUMMARY

Today I bought a copy of DOS 5.0 and installed it on my computer. I spent $40 for it on sale for half price. I bought the manual for $10, and 50 backup disks for $29. I hope I get enough money from Eddie to make it through the month. Mom should be at Kennedy airport waiting for her flight tomorrow. The new DOS installs easily and makes my computer run faster. I had a slight problem with conflict with my virus scan program vshld77. I eliminated the problem by eliminating the \CV option on the vshield command.

Today I sent Eddie a copy of DOS 5.0. I went to the beach but could not get in because I did not have a valid beach card. The town hall beach card office said that my car

was mailed on June 5. I stopped by John Marganot ‘5 office and told him about Bill Tackaki, and the Mitsubishi connection dad had. The local paper is running stories on the Japanese in this area. I went to the library this evening. There was a bad storm this afternoon, many trees down. Mom left for England today. I saw the Phillips with their grandchildren outside Manero’s. I worked on the computer this evening.

I saw Dr. Hampton this afternoon. He has just returned from Ireland. He said there was snow in Scotland. I cleaned my fish tank this evening and watered the plants. I worked on the computer checked out a book on the library of congress that I started reading.

I got up late today. I walked around the beach this evening. I still have not received my beach card. I chatted with Richard and George. Richard won’t be around for the next two weeks. I took a nap in the evening. Went up to the bar in Norwalk not much happening. I drove into the city. As I was getting off the drive on second ave. and 92^nd st. I thought I saw Jim Eldert and a friend both with pony tails. Was not able to talk with them because of traffic. Not much happening in the city. I have to check out the University of Southern California swim team some day.

JUNE 15 1991 DAILY ACTIVITY 061591 SUMMARY

Richard called this morning. I told him what I did last night. The 1998 winter Olympics will be in Japan. Ed said he would send me money to make it through the month. He received the DOS 5.0 and should have no problem installing. I am going to read the DOS 5 manual this evening, and have no plans to do anything. Money is tight. I did not leave the apartment until 7PM this evening. The moon and the planets are apparently lined up in an interesting astronomical phenomena.

I slept all day. Awoke around 5pm. It started raining heavily. I went out briefly. I read the papers, and some of the economist. I ate dinner fell asleep. Woke up around midnight. Drove into the city. Not much going on. Very third world. Don’t plan to go back to the city until winter. Read more upon returning.

I woke up around 5PM again. Received check from Patty in the mail. Went down for the papers. Saw Tom Watson coming out of zyn stationary. Stopped by the library and read Fortune. Came back home and chatted with Breton briefly. He said he’s not interested in Greenwich. I don’t blame him. I told him about Splash. He said he does not go out much. He said he might go to winter Olympics. Chatted with Richard briefly. Chatted with Jan. She’s done with school and reading. Says she’ll send me a check. I have to write her when I receive her letter. I worked on the computer. Will spend rest of evening reading and working on computer. Do not mind night schedule when it’s hot. Have to get beach card, so I can go for walks.

I slept most of the day. I set of the fire alarm while cooking dinner around mid night. Went for a drive afterwards, and when I got off the turnpike, because of a wreck I got lost in the Bronx. When I returned home, I noticed my water pump was leaking. Spent the rest of the night reading and working on the computer.

This morning I went out and did errands and read the papers. I slept this afternoon and evening. It was close to a 100 degrees today. Tonight I plan to work on the computer and read.

Today I did errands downtown. I was back on a day time schedule. It was very hot today. Richard took me out to dinner at Luca’s Steak House this evening.

I had veal Marcella. Mother returned from England today. She had a cold the last three days in England. She had a very pleasant trip. The Webster’s are up in Kennebunkport. Richard suggested at dinner that I ask mother for money to go to the Olympics in France this winter. I don’t know if I am up to a long trip. I’ll have to ask Dr. Hampton.

Today I went to the beach with Richard it was a very pleasant overcast day.

We walked around the three mile walk. Richard had dinner down here. I did

I was on a day time schedule today. I went down early for the papers. I drove out to the airport and checked on flights to Portland. I picked my check up at lO A.M. I paid my rent. I paid my insurance. I paid my cablevision. I got my hair cut at Putnam barbers. Stillman Rockefeller and Mr. Van Buren were in the shop. I walked the whole length of Greenwich Ave.. I went back for lunch and a nap. At 4 PM I went out to Island Beach. I had dinner and chatted with Patty and Richard. I plan to go for a drive and then to the library.

Today I was on an early day time schedule. I read an article about IBM in fortune and also another article about the Japanese. I changed my aquarium water and watered the plants. I worked on the computer this afternoon and this evening. I plan to read some of the Economist this evening. I think I will take the train to Maine since parking at the airport or a cab would cost around $40.

Today I got up early and bought the papers and groceries. This afternoon I headed out for the beach but my car battery went dead around Cos Cob. I took the car to be serviced at Sears and got a new battery. I also need a new regulator. I chatted with Patty, George, and Richard this evening. I walked down town after dinner and then watched the fourth of July special on the television.

Today Richard came down around 2PM. We went into Manhattan for cocktails and dinner at the Townhouse. Met a few interesting people including a brief chat with a British chap who works for the United Nations. Got back about

Today Richard and I went for a drive up to Westport after reading the Sunday papers. Went out for a drive in the evening. On the way back I had car

problems with my car. It’s the same charging problem again. I’m charging

the battery and will take the car down to the garage tomorrow. I think it’s

a problem with one of the wires.

Today I took my car down to Amoco to have it tested. They suggested that I replace the alternator. I put in a rebuilt alternator which cost $60. The car was still not getting a charge. I took the car down to AMOCO and left it there for them to check the wiring and the choke. I took the ferry ride out to island beach. I went back home and chatted briefly with mother about the car problems. I took a nap and watched the second episode of Nobel House on television.

Today I saw Roz. I picked up my car. They said the charging system was all right. They adjusted the choke and charged the battery. The bill was $23. I overdrew my bank account $200 to have money to pay the bill and go up to Maine. I chatted with Richard briefly went to the library and maintained my usual nightly routine.

Today mother called to verify my arrival time in Portland. I chatted with a British gentleman downtown. I talked with Mr. Ekland at the library. He thinks there’ll be an earthquake in California in the next five days. I chatted with the Swedish desk clerk at the Showboat. I think he’s one of the best looking young men in town. I saw Dr. Hampton in the afternoon. I called George to tell him Walter Terry’s father died. He told me he sat next to Rodman Rockefeller at lunch today, he thinks. The Japanese prime minister is in Kennebunkport with Bush. I went to the library this evening and bought some

ice cream. I also chatted briefly with Patty and Richard. The phone company said they would wait for a partial payment until August 3. I have to go down and see if mom’s letter arrived today.

Today I cleaned the fish tank. I went down town for a few errands. I called up Eric at the SHOWBOAT, and he said he was not interested in modeling. I napped this afternoon and did my laundry this evening. I will have dinner and do some packing later this evening. Richard is picking me up at 7:15 AM tomorrow to take me down to the Stamford train station to catch the train

to Maine.

I returned from Kennebunkport today. I visited mother, Jan, Patty, and Peggy and their families for the last ten days. The weather was great and I had a wonderful time. We had a large old house and spent time going to the beach. The time went fast. Patty and Peggy’s children are a lot of fun. It was great to get away. I had a few drinks in the evening and enjoyed the pleasant breezes and conversation on the porch in the evening. The girls all seem to be pretty much the same. The president was only up there my first evening then he was in Europe the rest of the time for the economic conference. Kennebunkport did not seem too busy.

Today I slept late and went to see Dr. Hampton this afternoon. I chatted briefly with George, Richard, and Breton Clark. I chatted with Kurt down town. I read the last four weeks of Newsweek. I worked a bit on the computer. It’s now three in the morning and I’m thinking of going to bed. I’m sending Jan some books on Poodles. I chatted with a fellow named Grey from Oklahoma today.

Richard and I drove back down from Saratoga after touring the racing museum with Laura Brodie. We drove around downtown Albany. I returned to Greenwich around 5PM and bought groceries, the papers and gas. I received a check from mother. I went to bed around 10 PM. I tried giving John a call but he refuses to answer the phone.

Today I got up early and ate and went back to bed. I got up around 10 PM and read the papers until 2PM by which time the storm from the hurricane was over. Gorbachav was kicked out of office. I went down town to get the papers and stopped by the library. I read the papers and went back to the libraryand read. I came home for dinner and watched the news and went back to the library and worked on the infotrack. I came home and finished the papers. I talked with Jan today and with Richard. Mother is still not home in Prouts Neck. I worked n the computer and went for drive down town and then to bed.

Today I went down town and bought the papers. I went to the library and read PC magazine. I chatted with mother on the phone. I bought two daisy wheel printers for $10 apiece and I’m selling one for $150. I had dinner and wrote mother a letter. Now I have to finish reading the papers and I will go to bed after doing some reading of the Economist.

Today I went down town for the papers. I chatted with Mr. Snyder at the library. ran into Henry Jonkers down town and went back to his place for coffee. I chatted about general information. His wife might have a job for Richard doing the Somers mall. I called up Richard and told him. I went home for dinner. I went down town late in the evening and met a fellow named Chris Groom. He attended University of Vermont, and is from Sherman Oaks, California. His father is an actor and he has aspirations to be an actor. He also is literate. He’s 24 years old, German, and good looking. He seems very smart. We chatted for about an hour.

Today I went downtown for the papers. I went to the beach and walked around the beach. I stopped by the hospital thrift shop. I went to see Dr. Hampton and had a nice chat with him. I ran into Chris on the way home. I took him for a drive in back country. I had him over for dinner. Told him he could stop by any time he wanted. He’s a very decent guy. Hope things work out for him in this area. Plan to work on the computer this evening and read.

Today I did a few errands. I invited Chris Groom over on Saturday. Jim Eldert’s phone is disconnected. I had Richard over resting all day. Richard and I decided not to go out to the Hamptons with George and Julie on Sunday.

Richard went up this morning. I picked up my check and bought some groceries. I cleaned my fish tank yesterday. Chris Groom did not show up at noon today. I have to quit smoking my cigarette expenses this month were $98!!!!! Will probably

go up to Richard’s this evening, unless Chris stops by. I don’t think he likes smokers as a non smoker. I have to quit if only to feel better and save money.

Today I took my car in for a emission recall. While it was being serviced I went to the bank and library. I walked down the avenue and took the boat to Island Beach. I picked up the car and it seems to be running better. I went over to the Stamford Mall and picked up a supply of vitamins. I drove around Todd’s Point on the way back. I stopped by Caldors for auto polish. I drove home and washed the car and waxed it. I ate dinner and went to the library and ready yesterday’s Times. I bought groceries. I have to replace my automobile head light. I plan to read the papers this evening and possibly Newsweek and work on the computer.

SEPTEMBER 4 1991 DAILY ACTIVITY 090491 SUMMARY Today I saw my social worker. I paid my rent and cablevision. I installed a new left head lamp on the car. I bought groceries. I read the papers this afternoon. Chris stopped by for dinner, for and hour and a half. He’s moving today. I dropped him off in Port Chester. He has two brothers near his age in this area. I worked on the computer this evening.

We went down town and walked around Bruce Park. I saw Gordon Thurber playing tennis in the park. After Richard went home I read the papers. This evening I went to the library and read. Today I got up early arid read the papers a-id had breakfast. I went back to bed and got up around noon and watched Bush give a speech at the United Nations. worked on the computer in the afternoon, and went down town briefly. After dinner I went to the library and called up mother briefly. In the evening I worked on the computer and am too tired to read and will go to bed shortly.

Today I got up early and ate breakfast and watched the news. I went back to bad and got up a couple of hours later. After showing I worked on my car and repaired a leaky vacuum line. We had dinner at home, After Richard left I went to the library and read for a while.

I went over to Caldors and ran into Chris Groom on his way back from work. He’s working at a nursery in Rye delivering flowers. He says he has to find another place possibly in Rye. His mother lives in Rye. He came over and had coffee and did his laundry. I gave him one of my old watches to time his jogging. He’s quite smart and I enjoy visiting with him. Mother sent me an extra $25 to make it through the month.

Today I got up later in the morning and went down town for the papers. After reading the papers I had my annual apartment inspection. I then headed for the beach, but was waylaid at the Old Greenwich Thrift shop where I bought a number of copies of computer programs and Lotus Magellan. Then I saw Dr. Hampton. I worked on installing the programs until I picked up Chris Groom to do his laundry and have dinner. After chatting with Chris, he left as usual at ten PM. Later at night I worked on the computer, and hope to get to bed sooner or later.

Today I got up around noon. I’ve decided to let Chris Groom stay with me. He needs a place he can afford and Dr. Hampton thinks it’s all right. Chris needs a little help to quit drinking. He’s going to several AA meetings a week. However, I think he’s a fine young man and hope with a little guidance he will get his feet on the ground. He’s very smart and he should have gotten some decent professional help while he was living

in Greenwich. He’s in very good physical shape, so he should have no problem getting it together once he quits drinking all together. Also today I had problems starting my car. I think I need a new battery that can crank the car, enough to get it to start. I gave Chris a set of keys to the apartment. He should be back around ten this evening. He says he’s not gay although he’s had gay encounters.

Today I got up and read the papers. I read some of the Economist in the morning. I went to the IBM presentation for OS/2 at the Sheraton in Stamford. It seems to be a very reliable operating system which with Windows 3.1 in a short time should suffice for my immediate needs if I ever get a computer which will run it. Since I do mostly word processing it does not really matter I suppose, but it would be fun to have a state of the art system.

Today I received the keyboard din connector for the Compaq 286 motherboard. I installed the motherboard with the din connector and it worked properly. I saw Dr. Hampton this afternoon I renewed my nicotine patch prescription I had dinner. I read the papers and watched the news. After reading today’s papers and having dinner I went to the library and read Scientific America. Massachusetts is advertising a lot to try and get people to move there.
