With only two spots available for their men and three for the women in individual races, U.S. biathlon coaches are faced with the unenviable position of deciding who will sit and who will ski and shoot in the Olympics.

Blizzard Hampers Biathletes
NOZAWA ONSEN, Japan, Feb. 9, 1998 -- A storm front moved in faster than a bullet fired from a biathlon rifle, turning a postcard day into a competitor's nightmare during Sunday's practice session.

Biathletes Enjoy Total Japanese Experience
NAGANO, Japan, Feb. 9, 1998 -- While most Olympic competitors are staying in the dormitory-style athlete village, the U.S. Biathlon team is submersed in a total Japanese experience.
"This has been a good team bonding experience," said Assistant Coach Tim Derrick. "We are getting the best of both worlds, the Olympic experience mixed with the Japanese experience."
