Michael Louis Scott's Notes December 2023

12/31/23 Sunday  11:25 P.M.  I went to bed at 8 A.M..  I chatted with a relative at 10 A.M..  I moved some items around.  I had to repair a telephone line with a new telephone cable.  As far as I can tell the telephones now all work.  I woke up at 6 P.M..  I ate my usual breakfast of pineapple chunks, mandarin oranges, Jimmy Dean sausage egg and cheese croissant, two English muffins with Smart Balance spread, diet cranberry juice, and brewed coffee.  I chatted with a relative at 7 P.M..  I put clean linens on my bed.  I showered, and I cleaned up.  I did three loads of laundry, and I drank two more cups of coffee.  As far as I can tell the apartment is all fixed up for the New Years as best as I can do with my relatives that helped out a lot.  CIO

12/28/23 Thursday 10:30 P.M.  I worked with two relatives for about 15 hours today decluttering my apartment, eliminating most of the extra wiring, and cleaning the apartment.  I went to McDonalds for breakfast and dinner.  I also made two trips to the Greenwich Hardware store.  The apartment looks like a new apartment.  My social worker will visit at 11 A.M. tomorrow.  Hopefully she will approve.  CiO

12/27/23 Wednesday 8:25 P.M.  I have been straightening up my apartment the last three days with three relatives.  I relative has all of the electrical cables straightened up.  The apartment is beginning to look like new.  Another relative has been doing a lot of cleaning and designing.  I have been moving a lot of heavy items and bags of junk.  I have been eating at McDonalds.  CIO

12/25/23 Monday 2:00 P.M.  Merry Christmas.  Yesterday, I threw out seven televisions, three towner computers, two desktop computers, two laser printers, ten bags of cables and accessories, a computer chair, and a lot of other stuff.  I went to bed at 9 P.M., and I woke up 9:30 A.M., and after my usual breakfast I threw out two heavy speakers and two internet radios.  I have one television in the bed, and one television in the living room. I have only Dell 17 inch laptop in the living room and the the two year old HP laptop on the bedroom desk.  I also threw out two speaker systems.  I still have a lot of cables to untangle and throw out.  CIO

12/24/23 Sunday 11:55 A.M.  I drank my coffee outside.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  I will now shut down the primary work computer and start throwing out a whole lot of electronics including the primary work computer and 49 inch monitor.  In the future, I will work of the 17 inch Dell laptop with wireless possibly.

Merry Christmas.  CIO

End of Scott's Notes week of 12/24/23

12/24/23 Sunday 12:50 A.M.  I will now send out my weekly notes.  I will then go to bed.  I have to be awake in the daytime on Tuesday December 26, 2023, since relatives with be visiting to consult on my electrical problem, which I think I know how to solve.  Basically throw out a whole lot more stuff which looks good, but is really not expensive anymore.  The most expensive thing I own is a 2005 Volvo XC 70 with 125,000 miles.  I guess younger rich people do not know what it is like to get older and poor, but I do have a lot of experience in Greenwich which nobody appreciates anymore with their world viewpoints.  I guess they are all in love with, "McMansion Architecture", something I know a little bit about.  I could see if somebody wants to copy my apartment on property of the Greenwich Land Trust, and let me blog about the nature of back country Greenwich for whatever else it is worth.  CIO

12/24/23 Sunday 12:15 A.M.  I will now do this.  I put a whole wheat pita bread on a dinner plate.  I covered it on one side with Hellmann's mayonnaise.  I then alternated six extremely paper thin slices of deli sliced Virginia ham with three slices of deli Norwegian Jarlsberg cheese, and I folded one side over the other.  I ate it with a 12 ounce glass of www.coke.com Zero Sugar.  The slices of deli ham I am using are very paper thin, but the cheese is just about an eight of an inch thin , so it is basically a ham and cheese sandwich.  CIO

12/23/23 Saturday 11:35 P.M.  I found out about this place https://www.nantucket-ma.gov/157/Our-Island-Home out on www.nantucket.net .  I think I am too young though.

I will now go outside again.  CIO

12/23/23 Saturday 11:35 P.M.  I tried calling a few local numbers that might know me, but with the Holidays, nobody is available until after Christmas.

I will now go outside again.  CIO

12/23/23 Saturday 10:25 P.M.  I left a message with a local security agency that I may not be around anymore.  I left a message with some place way out in the hinterlands.  I will now go outside and drink a brewed coffee.  When I started working at Polaroid in the summer of 1968, there was a European coffee shop in the basement of the Pier One Imports business of Harvard Square.  Over the years, I have seen coffee go from five cents a cup to $5 a cup, so the price of real estate for coffee shops must have gone way up.  Last week Fox News said there were 700 Billionaires in the United States of America.  Today Fox News said there are 1100 Billionaires in the United States of America, so in one week 400 people became billionaires.  In the shop on East 57th Street in Manhattan, there was a book about 40 years ago called, "Penniless Billionaires."   I think it was a British publication.  CIO

12/23/23 Saturday 9:35 P.M.  After, the last note,  I went downtown to www.cvs.com on Greenwich Avenue.  I picked up three prescriptions, and I got my  RSV shot.  I then sat outside to the Junior Chamber of Commerce Park until 5:30 P.M..  I used the bathroom at the CFCF coffee twice.  I toured a bit of East Lewis Street.  I had a parking spot directly behind CVS for $2 cost.  I then returned home.  I picked up the mail.  I got a letter from Greenwich Communities the former Greenwich Housing Authority that I am being evicted from my disability apartment after 34 years as of January 5, 2024.  I have three days to protest to them.  They say I failed the electrical inspection on this past Wednesday.  I emailed Greenwich Communities and my Social Worker, I want to protest.  I will drop a letter off at Greenwich Communities this Tuesday December 26, 2023 to that effect.  I have two relatives visiting that same day.  They will suggest more for me to throw out.  I chatted with those relatives several times and a friend once.  I also called up a complaint line that I have twice.  I was given the complaint line to HUD of 1-202-708-1112.  I went outside several times, and I drank a cup of coffee once.  I showed two neighbors my newly remodeled apartment.  If need be, I will throw out most of the electronics and live much more simply which I have done before.  I still think it is like the Starship Enterprise in that the Starship is not supposed to interfere with existing civilizations.  I will now go outside again.  CIO

12/23/23 Saturday 2:00 P.M.  I will now go downtown to Green Witch Avenue to forage around.  CIO

12/23/23 Saturday 9:15 A.M.  I noticed yesterday on the garbage can outside www.starbucks.com on Greenwich Avenue, there was a sheet of paper advertising Golden Doodle puppies.  I woke up at 8:30 A.M..  I chatted with a friend.  I made my bed.  I went outside.  I will eat a Jimmy Dean Sausage, Egg, and cheese croissant with two toasted English muffins with Smart Balance spread, and pineapple chunks with mandarin oranges, and a glass of spring water with some pineapple juice and cranberry juice and a cup of coffee with artificial sweetener and almond milk.  I am not keeping cereal boxes anymore, because mice can get into the cereal boxes.  CIO

12/22/23 Friday 9:55 P.M.  I put a whole wheat pita bread on a dinner plate.  I covered it on one side with Hellmann's mayonnaise.  I then alternated eight extremely paper thin slices of deli sliced Virginia ham with four slices of deli Norwegian Jarlsberg cheese, and I folded one side over the other.  I ate it with a 12 ounce glass of www.coke.com Zero Sugar.  The slices of deli ham I am using are very paper thin, but the cheese is just about an eight of an inch thin , so it is basically a ham and cheese sandwich.  I will now shut down the primary work computer, and I will go to bed.  CIO

12/22/23 Friday 9:30 P.M.  I went downtown to the Board of Education Parking Lot.  I paid $2 cash to park there for two hours.  I sat out at the Veterans Bench and the Senior and the Arts Center for an hour and a half.  I walked up the www.chase.com Bank ATM machine at East Elm Street and Greenwich Avenue.  I used the bathroom at www.starbucks.com  too.   I then drove around the block on upper Greenwich Avenue three times to find a parking place.  The parking meter in front of the Steinway piano show room does not work.  They were not opened, but their piano benches do not look like mine, unless mine is a vintage one.  I sat out at the Junior Chamber of Commerce Park for a long time.  I sat inside www.cvs.com to warm up for a while.  I chatted with a homeless customer from Greenwich who had just come from the Greenwich Hospital and was waiting for a prescription.  I let the person use my ID to get their prescription.  The person sold me a Stop and Shop $30 gift card for $30 cash.  I chatted with the person outside, and I gave the person another $20 cash to get back to the homeless shelter in Stamford.  I then sat out some more in the Junior Chamber of Commerce Park.  I used the bathroom at the CFCF coffee shop.  I then went by the ATM machine at the Chase Bank again on the Northeast Corner of East Elm Street and Greenwich Avenue.  I then went to the Stop and Shop at 161 West Putnam Avenue.  I noticed on the way, there were four police cars parked at J.P. Morgan across the street from the Greenwich Library.  At the Stop and Shop, I bought a 12 pack of Jimmy Dean sausage, egg, and cheese croissants for $16.99, a six pack of Stop and Shop English muffins for $1.99, and a 24 ounce Marie Callender turkey and stuffing entree for $7.29 for $26.27 total.  I then returned home.  I picked up the mail.  The order with tracking of https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction?tRef=fullpage&tLc=2&text28777=&tLabels=9274890278838844949399%2C&tABt=false on the order for

12/22/23 Friday 2:00 P.M.  I went out to the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop across the street from the Hamilton Avenue School.  They have a seven foot long brown leather Castro sofa there for $400.  They also have a brown leather recliner with no price marked.  The have several dining room sets with chairs and lots of other stuff.  I bought a black lacquer mahogany piano bench which might be a Steinway piano bench for $38 cash.  I then returned home.  I installed the piano bench in front of the two Queen Anne chairs and partially in front of the Ethan Allen recliner.  It can be used as a coffee table or cocktail glass table or even a laptop computer table.  It looks quite nice.  Its seat lift up for sheet music too.  I also put the New Zealand sheep skin back on the Ethan Allen recliner.  It came from a relative that took a cruise to New Zealand.  Fred Von Mierers was into black lacquer coffee tables.

12/21/23 Thursday 1:40 P.M.  Actually, I think Chamonix is in France, but to go from Pisa to Chamonix on the train, one has to go through the St. Bernard tunnel pass on the train which comes out in Switzerland, so Swiss Customs has to check one's passport.  The Italians actually had a lot of good food, if one had a bit of extra money.  On my first trip to Europe, I took $1,500 in American Express Travelers checks which lasted the whole trip.  In Greece and Turkey, George Cary use to check my traveler's checks every night, I think waiting for me to run out of money.  I guess he had a bit of extra money, because when I left Greece on a ten hour flight to Boston on TWA, he had enough money to go to Italy, where he bought a FIAT limousine and toured around with Charlie Rutherford from Aiken, South Carolina.  In Greece he knew a woman with a Rolls Royce, so maybe he go lucky at the race track.  Also the last time I skied was in Italy at Carrera, where in two feet of fresh powder snow, I skied off a 200 foot cliff, but I landed on a snowy road in a snow plow blade full of snow which broke my fall.  The run at Carrera was full of mogules, and made a sharp turn to the right at the bottom which in the snow storm, I did not know.  When I made it back to the ski lodge, I think I had a hard drink.  CIO

12/21/23 Thursday 12:55 P.M.  I rested until noon.  I went outside, and I drank a brewed coffee.  I rehung the Swiss Cross Bowl at the left side of the kitchen entrance.  I have visited Switzerland twice.  The first time was in February 1972, when I got my $200 Urail Pass in Florence, Italy.  I took the train from Florence to Pisa, and then I caught an overnight train to Chamonix, Switzerland.  When we crossed into Switzerland, Swiss customs checked out my U.S.A. passport.  I then stayed up all night in Chamonix, where nothing was opened except the police station.  I then caught the morning commuter train to Grenoble, France.  The train station in Grenoble was full of pen ball machines, so I guess a bit of American Culture had come across the Atlantic to France.  I took a suburban train to a suburb outside of Grenoble, and I visited with my friend Churck King from Greenwich who was at the University of Grenoble.  They had a discothčque on the villa property called "Bird Land", where a lot of international students showed up at Midnight.  I think after a few days, I took the train to Barcelona and wandered around on the Ramblas for a few days.  I did have a very good meal at the Barcelona Yacht Club for about $5.  I then took the train back to Lyon, and back up to Grenoble and visited with Chuck for a few more days.  I then took the train back to Barcelona, and wandered around for a few days.  I met somebody from the Netherlands named Perry Heindrickman.  I then took the train down the Costa De Sol to Malaga on the south of Spain, where oranges were still out.  I wandered around for a day.  I then caught Iberia to Lanzerote for $40, where I stayed for about three weeks.  The third week there, I stayed with Rhone Dietrin and his Norwegian mother and friend.  His father was a pilot on S.A.S., and they lived in the cottage at the end of the runway.  I then took Iberia to Seville, and I caught and overnight train to Madrid.  I did not leave the train station in Madrid, but I caught a new high speed train to Pisa, and back to Florence for my examinations.  I then took the train to Rome, where I stayed up all night outside at the Vatican on Easter Eve, and that morning, I caught a flight to Athens, Greece; where I met up with George Cary coming from the Lake Forest College program in Dijon, France.  Around the first of June 1972, I returned back to Boston, and then back to Lake Forest College for graduation, which I missed because I drank beer the night before.   The second time I was in Switzerland was when I went to the Albertville, France Winter Olympics in 1992, and I did side trips for a day to Chamonix and also to Geneva.

I will now go outside again.  CIO

12/21/23 Thursday 10:20 A.M.  Save Energy https://www.stopwatts.com/ .  I woke up at 9:15 A.M.. CIO

12/20/23 Wednesday 9:55 P.M.  I put a whole wheat pita bread on a dinner plate.  I covered it on one side with Hellmann's mayonnaise.  I then alternated six slices of deli sliced ham with three slices of deli Norwegian Jarlsberg cheese, and I folded one side over the other.  I ate it with a 12 ounce glass of www.coke.com Zero Sugar.  The slices of deli ham I am using are very thin, but the cheese is just as thin , so it is basically a ham and cheese sandwich.  I will now shut down the primary work computer, and I will go to bed.  CIO

12/20/23 Wednesday 9:15 P.M.  I drove downtown to the Senior and the Arts Center.  I sat out for a while.  I got a cup of medium Peak coffee at www.starbucks.com with Splenda Sweetener and almond milk for $3.59.  I also put $20 on my Starbucks card.  I drank the coffee in front of the Senior and the Arts Center.  I sat out for a while longer.  I used the bathroom at Starbucks.  I sat out a while longer.  I then went to Whole Foods on East Putnam Avenue, and I used the bathroom there.  I bought a sesame seed bagel for $1.15.  I then ate the bagel at the Junior Chamber of Commerce Park.  I then used the bathroom at the CFCF coffee shop.  I then toured www.cvs.com .  I then returned home.  I picked up the mail.  I chatted with a relative and a friend.  I went outside.  I filed this report.  I will now go outside again.  CIO

12/20/23 Wednesday 4:10 P.M.  The Greenwich Communities Head of our building showed up with my Social Worker and the building custodians and three electricians.  I just chatted with my Social Worker while they inspected the apartment.  They took the circuit breaker cover off and did something.  The inspected the wiring, and the building supervisor said they would get back to me on the wiring.  The building supervisor found mouse droppings in the blue kitchen bookcase.  A worker is coming back next Tuesday to fix some ceiling tiles with small holes.  The Swiss Cross Bow fell down at the kitchen entrance.  I put it on top of the book case behind the Vizio television.  I inspected the Knorr rice bags in the kitchen and about half of them were eaten into by mice.  I threw the bad ones out.  I put the good Knorr rice bags in the upper left kitchen cabinet.  I moved the two cereal boxes to the cabinet above the kitchen stove.  I cleaned up the mouse dropping and rice dust on the blue book case shelves and floor beneath it.  Now there should be no food available to mice.

I will now go downtown to Green Witch Avenue and forage around.  CIO

12/20/23 Wednesday 2:55 P.M.  In the old days the Radio Corporation of America was started by Colonel Sarnoff of the British Army.  The Greenwich Country Club Member whom got me the job at CBS was also the President of Columbia Pictures and also President of Radio Shack.  He started out selling cheese from the back of his car in Wisconsin.  However, by 1962 he built an expensive Frank Lloyd Wright house on the waterfront in Riverside section of Greenwich, and more recently was paying $50,000 taxes on his house before he sold it and then passed away.  His grandson that I never met is still running a hedge fund in Greenwich though.  His son married somebody whose family were in the State Department.  I think he had a lot of connections in Greenwich.  He had the first Rolls Royce in town.  His wife volunteered at the Greenwich Hospital Gift Shop.  I guess there is money in dairy products, if you know how to milk a cow which is where most of King Charles' money comes from.  The Rockefellers even have Swiss Dairy cows over in North Tarrytown, New York.  Maybe they still have a milk truck.  CIO

12/20/23 Wednesday 2:35 P.M.  In the old days in the Navies around the world, they used flags for communications, which is where the expression "Flag and Tag" came from.  The British military also had Archer communications which was from when they used to send messages long distance with long bows.  In World War II, Pitney Bowes in Stamford, Connecticut made microdots for spy communications.  Alas with modern communications being very common worldwide, more than likely there are unknown lurkers on all of our systems whom do not know the relevance of what they are eves dropping on.  We do have a lot of coffee shops on Greenwich Avenue, if one wants to sit down and relax and use a modern device.  Captain Starbuck was a rich whaler out on www.nantucket.net, and he built three identical mansions for his three daughter on Main Street known as the Starbucks Mansions.  One of my last trips to Manhattan, I met somebody that owned the furniture company on Greenwich Avenue next to St. Mary's, and he told me his family used to own the Starbucks Mansion and also the Hope diamond that they gave to the Smithsonian Institution.  The Aga Khan is supposed to have a diamond the size of a grapefruit, he uses as a paper weight too.  The cheapest snack on Greenwich Avenue is a $2 croissant at www.cvs.com , but it is not a real croissant just a bread croissant.  They also have other pastries for the same price plus sometimes tax.  Sometimes they charge tax on food, and sometimes they do not depending on the type of food.

I will now go outside again.  CIO

12/20/23 Wednesday 1:45 P.M.  On publishing and money, there are a lot of government documents regulating banking, insurance, energy, the interstate commerce commission, the internal revenue service and just about everything else.  Try reading this for fun https://www.cbo.gov/topics/budget .  At Lake Forest College besides being a bank teller, I got a 100% in accounting.  I did commit one crime, at the vending machines at the Lake Forest College Commons twice, I used Woolworth's five dollar bill play money to make change, which might have gotten the government attention from the Treasury Department.  I just wanted to see if it would work.  I did not need the money.  Also the first microwave oven I ever saw was at the college commons, and it was made by Litton Industries.

I will now go outside and drink a brewed coffee.  CIO

12/20/23 Wednesday 1:15 P.M.  I went outside again.  Also about William Randolph Hearst besides being an orphan from a wealthy gold mining family in Colorado, his mother was probably from the Randolph family in Virginia that also lived in Greenwich across from Greenwich Academy.  Also Winston Churchill whom published more than any other politician had a mother from the Randolph family in Virginia.  I guess they know to read and write and type and dictate a lot over in Jolly Old England from what I can tell without ever having been there in my five European trips.  I once read that Princess Ann is also in charge of the British Royal family communications, and I once read her first husband Mark Phillips was living at the United State Equestrian Team headquarters in Gladstone, New Jersey which my friend from Sands Point had a grandfather that once owned it.  He had a lot of old four in hand carriages which is what they used to use in the old days for travel.  Also I have a relative who is retired and once was a medical doctor in the World Health Organization running hospitals, and the relative once live in Pueblo, Colorado where the United Stated Government Printing Office happens to be https://pueblo.gpo.gov/Publications/PuebloPubs.php  .  Most of the Standard United States Government Documents in this area are also available nearby at the States University of New York Library in nearby Purchase, New York, if one likes reading fine print.

I will now go outside again. CIO

Also in the park underneath the north side www.un.org which goes underground four stories, they do publishing in all of the languages around the world. CIO

12/20/23 Wednesday 12:25 P.M.  On other publishing notes, the name Gilbert Grosvenor is on the World War II veterans monument downtown on Greenwich Avenue.  They are supposed to be one of the largest land owners in London, England, and they also started National Geographic Magazine.  They also married into the Scottish Alexander Graham Bell family whom are in the communications business.  The Smithsonian Magazine of the Smithsonian Institute was started by the wealthy Englishman from England that never visited America.  The Yale College was started by wealthy Elihu Yale from India that never visited America.  The Cambridge Press also used to be in nearby Port Chester, New York, but when Port Chester got too expensive, I think they moved elsewhere.  If one gets tired of reading English and knows French, I recommend reading Paris Match magazine that writes about the Aga Khan all of the time.  CIO

12/20/23 Wednesday 11:55 A.M.   On other publishing notes, another Lake Forest College classmate that once lived in his Aunt's carriage house in Sands Point, Long Island where they were neighbors of Conde Nast that once had a big publishing operation in Old Greenwich and William Randolf Hearst whose company now owns the Greenwich Time.  On more interesting reading, if one wants to find out a thing or two, I would recommend reading the https://www.britannica.com/ and https://www.amazon.com/Encyclopaedia-Britannica-Print-Set-Inc/dp/1593398379/ref=asc_df_1593398379/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=459730632142&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=647260201844245299&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1014843&hvtargid=pla-943952832123&psc=1&mcid=98625f98db6a3579b3364d73255e3b2d&gclid=EAIaIQobChMImcXs47uegwMVqmZHAR3lSQdqEAQYAiABEgLNAvD_BwE which is not cheap.  I once bought a 1954 complete set for $40 at the Merry Go Round Mews thrift shop here in Greenwich, and my family once bought the complete set around 1958 for about $200 and also for the same price https://www.worldbook.com/worldbookencyclopedia2023 .  About all I know about Greenwich, Connecticut is that people read a lot, and one has to watch out for lawyers that read a lot and hedge fund people that read a lot that seem to have all of the money and medical people that have expensive educations that also read a lot.  Law Books and Medical Books also cost a lot of money.  One can visit the Yale COOP to see how expensive text books cost today.  I think Barbara Bush's family were involved in owning McCalls Magazine too.

I will now go outside again.  CIO

12/20/23 Wednesday 11:15 A.M.  I threw out the garbage, and I drank a brewed coffee.  On other publishing matters, one of my few friends in this area grew up on an estate in nearby Bedford, New York, and one of his next door neighbors were Lillian and Dewitt Wallace whom owned Reader's Digest who were also Richard Nixon's biggest backers.  A former brother in law now diseased whose father was a first selectman of Greenwich was one of the top people at Reader's Digest.  When we car pooled at Greenwich Country Day school, we also drove Cole family members whose father was the President of Reader's Digest.  They also donated the Cole Auditorium at the Greenwich Library.  In the old days, a lot of people used to read the Reader Digest.  One of my room mates on the Farm at Lake Forest College with the last name Cerf had a father whom owned Random House and Penguin Books on East 49th Street in Manhattan where Jackie Onassis worked.  His mother later married Robert Wagner the former Mayor of New York City whom also went to the Taft School in Watertown, Connecticut where Stillman Rockefeller from Greenwich was the oldest alumnus of the school aftert being on the Yale Olympic Rowing team.  His mother donated the Carnegie Track at Taft.  CIO

12/20/23 Wednesday 9:55 A.M.  I will now shower and clean up.  I have my electrical inspection in my apartment today at 3 P.M.. Also when I was way out in the middle of no where out on www.nantucket.net , I read the Nantucket Inquirer Mirror known as the Inky Mirror and lived close to the Nantucket Antheneum Library on India Street.  Way down in Key West out in the middle of no where, I read the Key West Citizen.  They even put my picture in the Key West Citizen around 1978 showing me reading the New York Times in Monroe County Library in Key West, and until Covid 19, I daily used the Greenwich Library most of my life in Greenwich.  Also since the Greenwich Library no longer has magazines which are now on the internet, I just read the magazines mostly off my home computer, thus the Greenwich Library has not seen me much in a long time.  CIO

12/20/23 Wednesday 9:40 A.M.  I drank my coffee outside.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  CIO

12/20/23 Wednesday 8:50 A.M.  I woke up at 8 A.M.. CIO

12/19/23 Tuesday 8:00 P.M.  I went downtown to the Senior and the Arts Center, and I sat out for a long time.  I walked down to Zen Stationary, and I bought an "Line Em Up" scratch card for a dollar, and as usual I lost to the Bank of Bombay.  I then went to www.starbucks.com , and I bought a medium Pike coffee with Splenda sweetener and almond milk for $3.59 off my Starbucks card, and I drank it front of the Senior and the Arts Center.  I sat out for a while longer enjoying the Greenwich Avenue Holiday Lights.  I viewed the Holiday Christmas Tree Gifts in the lobby of the Greenwich Police Station.  I then drove to www.cvs.com on Greenwich Avenue.  I viewed the CFCF coffee shop.  Then at CVS, I bought a yellow remote control Chevrolet toy car for $13.81 total.  I then drove back down to the Board of Education Parking lot Veterans monument, and I donated the toy car to the police station Christmas tree.  I then used the bathroom at Starbucks.  I sat out some more at the Veterans monument.  I then went to the Stop and Shop at 161 West Putnam Avenue.  They have lots of prime rib of roast beef there on sale for $6.99 a pound.  I bought six pack of Stop and Shop English muffins for $1.99.  I then returned home.  I did not get any mail.  I sat outside.  I then filed this report.  I will now go outside again.  CIO

12/19/23 Tuesday 4:35 P.M.  I will now go downtown to Green Witch Avenue to forage around.  I have done my best today being a Key Board Jockey.  Actually if one knows literature, some times woman are better writers, since they have more experience, when men are working.  A writer is suppose to write from experience.  At Lake Forest College, they were always saying, "Publish are Perish."  I actually have learned a lot about Greenwich since June 1962 by reading the Greenwich Time, which I still pay $30 a month for the online attention.  I still scan the obituaries to see whom is still around too, or where they retired too.  CIO

12/19/23 Tuesday 4:30 P.M.  Back around Christmas Time in 1973, Fred Von Mieres had me at Barbara Rockefeller's town house on East 67th Street.  He also had me over to Walter Anneberg's triplex apartment on East End Avenue, when Walter Anneberg was Richard Nixon's ambassador to the Court of St. James in England.  Walter Anneberg owned TV Guide and the Daily Racing Form.  At the George H.W. Bush inaugural in January 1989, I went with George Gordon Cary and his fiance whom he married.  My friend from this area had for dates Admiral Halsey's daughter in law and a reporter for the Philadelphia Inquirer.  However, in the media there are so many people coving a major news event, the Associated Press and Reuters get a lot of the attention, and both companies were bought out by the Saudi Arabians over twenty years ago.  So much for a free press.  CIO

12/19/23 Tuesday 4:00 P.M.  I have met members of the Forbes family a number of times.  The first time, I visited West Point for a football came, when I was about 14 years old, I signed my name behind Hebert Hoover's in the guest book on the Forbes Yacht "The Highlander".  Alas, I learned in Fort Lauderdale, when I was homeless in the fall of 1976 around the King of Norway, I do not know to maintain a boat much less a yacht.  However, in my mother's home town in Holland, Michigan, they used to make Chris Craft boats https://www.chriscraft.com/  for Lake Michigan some of which were also down in Fort Lauderdale.  I also had the twin brother of one of my Lake Forest College roommates let me see his apartment in Manhattan on East 13th Street across the street from Woman's Wear Daily which is popular in the fashion business.  At CBS, I used to read Bill Board Magazine.  Most trades and business activities have their specialty magazines.  At Lake Forest College a classmate was Rob McGraw of McGraw Hill magazines.

I will now go outside again.  CIO

12/19/23 Tuesday 2:35 P.M.  I chatted with somebody downtown yesterday that had a NYP license plate, which means New York Press.  About twenty years ago, a friend took me to the Black Sheep restaurant in nearby Port Chester, New York, and I met the Vanderkook Twins whose parents met at Hope College in Holland, Michigan, and they told me their father was the editor of the Chicago Tribune.  Another relative use to know Sam Zell who owned the Chicago Tribune.  A friend who lives ten minutes away from President Biden in Delaware has an aunt that owned Newsweek Magazine, and whose family also own the largest railroad network in America.  When I was at CBS News Broadcast Building on West 57th Street, the New York Times would sell out first thing in the morning.  Walter Cronkite said a half hour news show was only 2.5 columns of the New York Times.  Fred Von Mierer's friend George Nichols that lived in Greenwich was an assistant editor of the New York Times.  The editor of the New York Times used to go to the Presbyterian Church in Greenwich.  Also at Greenwich Country Day, I had a classmate whose family were involved in owning the New York Times.  Another classmate at Greenwich Country Day had a father that ran Look Magazine.  Several classmates at Greenwich Country Day had fathers involved with Time Life.  A classmate at www.lakeforest.edu was from the Luce Family that started Time Life.  Also R.R. Donnelly out of Chicago published Time Life magazine and thousands of other magazines.  The President of Lake Forest College came from being the dean at Williams College, and when he left Lake Forest College went on to be the head of the Playboy foundation.  Another Greenwich Country Club member owned Gannett Publications which is headquartered in White Plains, New York nearby.  Alas with so much content on the internet anymore, a lot of the publishing and news companies might not be making too much money anymore.  It all depends on the advertising companies and their clients.  CIO

12/19/23 Tuesday 1:50 P.M.  Polar Bear News https://www.foxnews.com/video/6343311216112

About ten years ago, I thought about responding to an advertisement to write for the Greenwich Time, but it only paid $8,500 a year, which was not enough to live on in Greenwich.  A relative of a relative used to own the Greenwich Time, but that relative did not live in Greenwich, but on a 40 acre farm in Wilton.  When the relative's relative died, the relative gave $50 million to Stamford with $10 million for the Presbyterian Whale Church and I think the rest to the new Stamford Hospital.  Also on my fifth trip to California in August 1980, when I flew instead of driving I met Otis Chandler Jr. whose family owned the Times Mirror Company and the Greenwich Time back then.  The Chandler family also owns a lot of real estate in California, and the person I met had a 40 acre avocado farm with a Buckmaster Fuller house over looking the Pacific Ocean in Ocean Side, California.  The person I met was sort of curious as to why I was even out there, but having spent so many years freezing in the North Country, one is always curious about warmer places, which seem to be equally expensive.  I will now go outside and drink a brewed coffee.

I learned one think on King Charles reading his public relations is that he never eats lunch, which is why people do not like hanging out around him or traveling with him.  CIO

12/19/23 Tuesday 11:30 A.M.  I rested until 10:50 A.M..  I then went outside, and I drank a brewed coffee.  It is sort of Amusing that when I returned to Greenwich, Connecticut forty years ago as a penniless dishwasher from www.nantucket.net , and then after six months moved to a $400 a month welfare studio apartment at 700 Steamboat Road for 4.5 years where the Royal Bank of Scotland was located at 600 Steamboat Road in those days, that today there are now 700 Billionaires in the United States of America, when I used to watch the 700 Club Christian television broadcast by Pat Robertson.  When I built the garage apartment before that for Vivian Simmons West at 21 Circle Drive in Plandome Manor, Long Island, Reagan's head of the CIA was from Rosalyn, Long Island; where the paper for paper money used to be made.  It says here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_dollar 2.33 Trillion Dollars of Paper United States Currency is in circulation which works out to https://www.google.com/search?q=how+many+people+in+the+USA&sca_esv=592223378&source=hp&ei=48KBZbinCaL-ptQP-eG88Ao&iflsig=AO6bgOgAAAAAZYHQ85X0_EJvGw5tFeUStdHBH1xgJOuL&ved=0ahUKEwj4pPr_85uDAxUiv4kEHfkwD64Q4dUDCAw&uact=5&oq=how+many+people+in+the+USA&gs_lp=Egdnd3Mtd2l6Ihpob3cgbWFueSBwZW9wbGUgaW4gdGhlIFVTQTIMEAAYgAQYChhGGPsBMgcQABiABBgKMgcQABiABBgKMgcQABiABBgKMgcQABiABBgKMgcQABiABBgKMgcQABiABBgKMgcQABiABBgKMgcQABiABBgKMgcQABiABBgKSIhuUABY6WZwCHgAkAEAmAGMAaAB2xGqAQQzMy4xuAEDyAEA-AEBwgIKEAAYgAQYigUYQ8ICDhAuGIAEGLEDGMcBGNEDwgIOEC4YxwEYsQMY0QMYgATCAgsQABiABBixAxiDAcICCBAAGIAEGLEDwgIOEC4YgAQYsQMYgwEY1ALCAgUQABiABMICBRAuGIAEwgILEAAYgAQYigUYsQPCAgsQABiABBiKBRiRAsICChAuGIAEGIoFGEPCAhAQABiABBiKBRiRAhhGGPsBwgIREAAYgAQYigUYkQIYsQMYyQPCAgsQABiABBiKBRiSA8ICChAAGIAEGLEDGArCAgoQABiABBhGGPsB&sclient=gws-wiz 331.9 million people in the USA which works out to https://www.mymathtables.com/calculator/number/trillion-divide-by-million-calculator.html  $7,020.187 cash for everyone in the good old United States of America.  Thus I would say it is safe to assume a lot of people are hoarding paper cash in this country, if one thinks about it.

12/18/23 Monday 6:55 P.M.  I went out to the Acme grocery store at 160 West Putnam Avenue, and I bought a 48 ounce Almond Breeze vanilla unsweetened almond milk for $5.69.  I then drove down to the Senior and the Arts Center, and I sat out for a long time.  I used the bathroom at the Senior and the Arts Center.  I got my Senior Center parking pass for 2024 for $5.  I put it in my driver's side front window.  I walked all of the way down to the www.apple.com store, and I toured the store.  I also chatted with the eye glass shop north of it.  They do not take Medicaid.  I then sat out for a long time at the Senior and the Arts Center.  I then drove to www.cvs.com on Greenwich Avenue, and I toured the store.  I can not get my second shingles shot until six months after the first one.  I chatted with some one at the CFCF coffee shop.  I chatted with the drugstore on the north side of the CFCF coffee shop.  I told them about this Swedish mouthwash product that used to be $5 that is now $30 https://www.amazon.com/Vademecum-Mouthwash-and-Gargle-Concentrated/dp/B000O7PPV8/ref=asc_df_B000O7PPV8/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=642052669113&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=6089111219669703542&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1014843&hvtargid=pla-1948538778202&psc=1&mcid=cdfe1e8356853ef095d2462420c0100b .  I sat out for a while in the Junior Chamber of Commerce Park.  I then returned home.  I picked up the mail.  The order with tracking of https://www.walmart.com/orders/200011548910673/track/92144903444913610007306226?groupId=LTgxMjY4NDA5OA== or https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction?qtc_tLabels1=92144903444913610007306226 on the order for this clearance wreath from Sam Walton https://www.walmart.com/ip/Clearance-Sale-Christmas-Wreath-Christmas-Tree-Decorations-Xmas-Wreaths-Event-Party-Festive-Christmas-Ornament/1842285630?athbdg=L1400&from=/search for $16.99 arrived.  It is only 12 inches.  I hung it on the front door.  I gave a neighbor a bottle of pain relief pills.  I filed this report.  I will now go outside and drink a brewed coffee.

On a minor note over the last ten years, I have given $2219 in money to people asking for money on Greenwich Avenue and $1200 in religious donations, not to mention all of the time and gasoline I have spent on Greenwich Avenue in forty years, since I left www.nantucket.net where I had a few friends from the Boston area.

End of Scott's Notes week of 12/16/23

12/16/23 Saturday 8:55 P.M.  I chatted with a friend.  If one asks the Alexia Display to play Cspan, it plays podcasts.  It played a podcast by professor named Bryant at Bryant University in Northwestern, Rhode Island who wrote a book about "Mein Komf", which I never bothered reading.  Winston Churchill who started off as a newspaper reporter in the Boar War, where one of Queen Victoria's grandson's was killed wrote more than any other politician that I have read about.  He even refused to meet with Adolf Hitler in Germany during the 1930s when he was researching a book on some historical action.  I have a long lost friend who was a French Canadian Indian from Jay Peak, Vermont who used to always give me the "V" sign like Winston Churchill, and I think he knew how to sneak into Canada at that library in Vermont on the Canadian United States border that is on both sides of the border.  I think they used to call him the Artful Dodger in Greenwich, when he was homeless at Christ Church.  I do know he worked at both McDonalds and Wendy's for a number of years, but he was never interested in being a dishwasher out on Nantucket, where there are people from Vermont that speak both English and French.  He was a cold weather person, unlike some of the Reagan and Bush people around here from down South.  I went outside again.  I will now send out my weekly notes.  I will then shut down the primary work computer.  I will eat a yogurt and a croissant.  I will then go to bed.  CIO

12/16/23 Saturday 7:10 P.M.  These used to be 29 cents https://www.amazon.com/Starfire-Balsa-Wood-Glider-Plane/dp/B000GKW5Z2/ref=sr_1_29?crid=286Y2BEY2C8VY&keywords=balsa+wood+airplanes+for+kids&qid=1702770102&sprefix=Balsa+Wood+airplan%2Caps%2C121&sr=8-29 .

I first got interested in aviation, when I lived in Decatur, Alabama; and my father let me fly on the Chemstrand Monsanto company DC 3 prop plane all of the time on short trips around the South.  Decatur shared an airport with Huntsville, Alabama where the NASA Redstone arsenal was first located.  When I first flew into Westchester County Airport in April 1962 on Mohawk Airlines to interview at Greenwich Country Day, before the family moved here in June 1962, I got to ride in a big black Cadillac Limousine to the Roger Sherman Hotel or some place like that in Stamford.  When John Webster interviewed me for Greenwich Country Day, he liked the way I chatted about golf.  In my ninth grade year at Greenwich Country Day School, I was able to start the Greenwich Country Day School golf team at the Greenwich Country Club, so at one time the Scottish had influence in Greenwich.  I used to be able to hit a driver almost three hundred yards, but I was only an eight handicap.  The Golf Pro at the Greenwich Country Club was Roy Bronson a former professional Canadian Hockey player.  Back in the old days, they could afford to keep the Greenwich Country Club open in February for a quick meal.  I guess the money is running out here in the winter, because they now close it in February.  Of course for what it costs to belong there, one could travel to a lot of exotic golf courses world wide for adventure.  However, some of the Old Guard in Greenwich are quite sedentary, and prefer to remain close to the Greenwich Hospital and their families volunteering as best as they can afford to do.  Tommy Chester whose mother had an insurance company here in Greenwich told me, he had lived in Vero Beach, Florida after World War II, before he moved to Greenwich.  I think he might have had something to do with Putnam Trust, because I always saw him around there.  His friend from Williams College was our neighbor in back country, and he was in charge of advertising for Buick and www.coke.com at McCann Erickson, and Chester worked at J. Walter Thomson .  I think his wife also owned a bank in Ohio.  When he moved out of Greenwich, he moved to Carmel, California and bought the radio station there, and I think his brother used to organize the music for the King Family, when they were on television.  Both of sons were captains of the Brunswick School football team, so they knew a lot of people.  They also went to prep school before Greenwich at Cranbrook Prep School near Detroit.

Deep Space Radio Signal https://www.foxweather.com/earth-space/fast-radio-burst-frb-seti-institute-california I think it was Hughes Satellite or Norden that made the Hubble Telescope Mirror in Danbury, Connecticut.  I was once up that way at a pub next to the BMW dealership.  I met the nephew of Queen Beatrice of the Netherlands who was a pilot on KLM when the 747 lost all four engines over the volcano in Alaska, but he was able to restart it.  I talked to a big tobacco dealer from Houston, and he told me IBM meant "Itty Bitty Mines".  Maybe that is because NASA is in Houston.  The pilot lived in Ridgefield, Connecticut.  He told me he flew around the world twice a week delivering flowers out of Schipoh Airport in Amsterdam.  I know former Prince Bernhard was also a pilot too.  Alas I do not speak Dutch, although I am half Dutch American.  For the four days I visited Amsterdam in 1992 before the Albertville Winter Olympics, I had a really good meal at the old mill tavern behind the palace.  It was the best fresh vegetables I ever tasted or maybe it was the Dutch Butter.  I think we also had two pork chops there.  I also saw the Dutch pilot there.  His family have a 500 year old Villa in Inchcaday in the Netherlands.  He also liked skiing.  He showed me a big scar on his legs from a skiing accident.  He told me the Greenwich people were too snobby, so that is why I have been sitting out in public for 40 years year round for anyone to see.  However, I do not get as much work done being in public all of the time.  When I lived at 700 Steamboat Road, I once saw someone that looked like Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands outside the Indian Harbor Yacht Club.  I know Queen Juliana of the Netherlands visited Holland, Michigan during World War II.  However, from what I have read King William and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands visited Grand Rapids, Michigan a few years ago, but did not bother to visit Holland, Michigan twenty miles away.  I guess they have enough tulips.  The Ridgefield, Connecticut hardware store used to sell toy balsa wood glider planes in the old days.  There might be other pilots up there, since the Dutch Pilot used to live there.  In the old days, the pub in Greenwich Village on Greenwich Street named "Uncle Charlie's" was on the sight of the old Dutch Settlement House, so some Manhattan people know their history.  I once went to the Duchess County Fair in the summer in Pawling, New York, and my Dutch friend told me a lot of the old Dutch families still live there and own the real estate in Manhattan after all of the these years.  In Lanzerote in February 1972, I stayed with a Norwegian family whose father was a pilot with S.A.S..  I guess since my father flew a million miles on Pan Am by 1954, I have seen a lot of other flight personnel.  Key West was one of the first places Pan Am started flying from.  I think they used a lot of Navy pilots from Pensacola, Florida too.

12/15/23 Friday 1:50 P.M.  I ate a croissant.  On my first trip to Europe during the first five months of 1972, I only weighed 145 pounds.  I learned the Europeans are very skinny.  In Italy they ate pizzas with a crust like a cracker with a little bit of ketchup on it.  In France, they ate sandwiches made out of horse meat.  In Spain, they seemed to have a bit more food, but a friend of my oldest sister knew the King of Spain, so maybe he saw I ate better.  In Greece they ate cucumber sandwiches and a deluxe meal was mosaka which is ground lamb with mashed potatoes.  In Turkey they ate very thin hamburgers.  However, the wine in those countries was relatively inexpensive.  On my trip to Germany in December 1980, when I weighed 150 pounds for only three days at Christmas Time, I ate hotdogs.  On my third trip to Oslo, Norway when I weighed 150 pounds for five weeks in February 1983, I only ate corn flakes and milk and Swedish crackers and orange juice.  On my fourth trip to Innsbruck, Austria in February 1987, when I weighed 200 pounds, I ate Roebuck which is like deer meat, and I also ate at www.mcdonalds.com .  On my fifth trip to France, and the Netherlands in February 1992, when I attended the Winter Olympics in Albertville at 175 pounds, my rich friend bought me a few good meals, but we mostly ate fetticini Alfredo at the cafeteria in Albertville.  We also ate breakfast at McDonalds in Geneva which was very expensive.  The wine was still cheap though.  Thus one has to be thin and not used to eating too much, when one visits Europe.  Also one has to walk a lot even if one has a rental car which we had the last time, and I bought my own used $300 Open in Greece and Turkey the first time, because the last time gasoline was over $10 a gallon.  In Paris at Siesta Time, everyone seemed to take home a tiny rotisserie chicken which was about half the size of an American rotisserie chicken.  In France, they only eat a croissant for breakfast.  CIO

12/15/23 Friday 10:05 A.M.  I went out to the Stop and Shop at 161 West Putnam Avenue, and I bought a package of Toufani whole wheat pita bread for $3.99.  I then went to the Acme grocery store across the street at 160 West Putnam Avenue, and I bought a five gallon bottle of Chrystal Rock water with bottle return for $7.49.  I then drove down to the Junior Chamber of Commerce Park, and I used the bathroom at the CFCF coffee shop.  I chatted with a friend on my cell phone.  I toured CVS across the street.  They have a berry Christmas wreath there for $25, but I do not need it with other wreath coming sooner or later.  I then drove down to the Senior and the Arts Center, and I sat out for a while.  I then viewed www.starbucks.com .  I then sat out some more.  I then returned home.  I used my little folding cart from the back seat of the car to bring up the 42 pound bottle of water.  I then put the little folding cart back in the car.  I sat outside, and I drank a brewed coffee.  I called up a neighbor, and I told them about the wolf still being in our neighborhood.  I filed this report.

Back around Christmas 1986 or 1987, when I first got a car in Greenwich, when I was living at 700 Steamboat Road, I drove out to my friend's carriage house in Sands Point, Long Island, and I visited with him.  I met his older cousin, and all he did was chat about "Ducks Unlimited".  The chairman of the board of www.lakeforest.edu William McCormick Blair actually started Ducks Unlimited.  On his big horse barn in Lake Bluff, Illinois; where my friend rode horses all of the time, there were ducks painted on the barn.  Also Henry Ford Junior's nephews also lived on that estate while attending Lake Forest College.  Lake Bluff, Illinois is also where Lester Armour lived, and his wife Lacey Armour was a niece of Czar Nicholas having escaped the revolution, when she met him in Monte Carlo during the revolution.  Czar Nicholas' mother being German royalty escaped to Denmark, and lived out her life there.

12/15/23 Friday 2:45 A.M.  Good News.  I just saw a shooting star in the North Sky, which is suppose to be good luck.

A Short List of the Astor 400 https://www.geni.com/projects/The-Gilded-Age-The-400-A-List-of-New-York-Elite-Society-Members-1870-1910/4490965 and https://timesmachine.nytimes.com/timesmachine/1892/02/16/108210917.pdf .  I guess the Scott family never made it into the 400, although they were one of the first settlers in the New Amsterdam colony owning two farms in Manhattan that were inherited by the Jay family, since they only had girls.  The Scott family also had one of the first farms in Princeton, New Jersey, and another member of the Scott family currently lives in the wealthiest area of Long Island out on Llyods Neck.  The Scott family used to own all of Long Island.  The Scott family also just happen to be the largest private land owners in England.  I suppose they have properties elsewhere.  Also my mother knew a member of the Astor family in Kennebunkport, and I went to the Taft School in Watertown, Connecticut with another member of the Astor family.  Alas in settling America, the Scott family might have lost touch with New Amsterdam.  The Scott family also had the land grant for Virginia which ran from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean.  However, having spent about five years way out on www.nantucket.net which is pretty deserted after the tourist season, I really do not like traveling, because based on my experience, it tends to get too crowded.  Being a night person most of my life, I am not really used to crowds.  CIO

12/14/23 Thursday 6:15 A.M.  I rested until 5:30 A.M..  I went outside, and I drank a brewed coffee.  This is what I looked like in Kennebunkport, Maine 40 years ago after leaving www.nantucket.net , before I drove down to Vero Beach with my mother with a stop in Greenwich and a visit to Fort Lauderdale during the Grenada Invasion and then returned to Nantucket and then flew out of Hyannis the day after the Kennedy Memorial with Jackie Onassis to Leguardia and then took the Amtrak up to Toronta, Canada for a week and then wandered around Manhattan twice for a week each time, and then finally returned to Greenwich 40 years ago http://mikelouisscott.com/mike-scott-kennebunkport-maine-august-1983.jpg .  I am about 150 pounds there, but eating good meals at the Greenwich Hospital Cafeteria for a few years, I quickly went up to 215 pounds.  When I was last in France for the Albertville, France Winter Olympics in February 1992, I was down to 175 pounds http://mikelouisscott.com/mlsparis.jpg .  CIO

12/14/23 Thursday 3:35 A.M.  As a minor financial note, the Alexa display says the Rothschild family is now worth $400 billion which is slightly more than the Rockefeller family $360 billion.  I had a Taft School classmate who was from the Rothschild family in Vienna, Austria, but they lost all of their property when the Nazis confiscated it in World War II.  He managed to get by working at Brown Brothers Harriman in Paris, France; so he speaks German, French and English.  According to the internet he was living near Nelson Rockefeller's apartment on Fifth Avenue on the north side of the Pierre Hotel.  However, with the turmoil in Manhattan, he might have moved back to his family home in www.princeton.edu , New Jersey.  His father was a medical doctor with Engelhard Gold and Minerals.  He was a good hockey and lacrosse goldie, so he can take care of himself.  My mother knew his mother in Vero Beach, Florida; but apparently the family is now out of money.  Maybe some members of the Rothschild family do not take care of other members.  He did give $5,000 to Bill Clinton's political campaign, and they once put his picture on the Taft School alumni magazine hoping they might get money.  They even put Robert F. Kennedy's Junior picture on the Taft School Alumni magazine, and he did not even go to Taft.  However, my new boy at Taft did give the school a  half million dollars, which is a lot of money.  His father was a neighbor in my building at 700 Steamboat Road.  He looked a bit like Rob www.ford.com , so maybe he was related.  I used to look like William Clay Ford Junior https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Clay_Ford_Jr. , the former chair of Ford Motor Company, but nobody ever noticed that.  I was told by a local expert that somebody in Ford family has a house in Greenwich, which is why the Greenwich Police Department drives Ford Police Cars unlike the General Motors Police cars in neighboring towns.  Still most prominent families have multiple homes, so they can be anywhere, depending on their business travels.  Back in the early days in the 1970s, there was a young blond boy working as a salesman at Griffith Ford on Milbank Avenue in Greenwich that was supposed to be Danish, but other than there, one never saw him in public, so maybe since he had the Ford family look, he was actually a Ford trying to learn the business.  Jimmy Eldert drove an old rusted out white Ford Mustang sedan in California, so maybe he had a Ford Connection too.  My local expert drove to old vintage Lincoln Town Cars, which he seemed to know how to get maintained.

I will now go outside again.  CIO

12/14/23 Thursday 2:50 A.M.  I moved the Paris post card back to the kitchen wall.  I hung the Swiss Cross Bow on the left side of the Kitchen Entrance.  I like to pretend that it is the Roman Cross Bow that killed Jesus Christ which is a religious object and good luck.  Nobody hear seems to know whom William Tell was.

When I first returned to Greenwich on December 13, 1983; I was sort of bored after living out on www.nantucket.net .  On the evening of December 22, 1983, I went into Manhattan to a pub on the East Side, and I met somebody from Midland, Texas, and I told him about the cashmere bath robes that I had seen miss marked at Saks Fifth Avenue for $89, and he bought a lot for Christmas Gifts, when they should have been $890.  On December 23, I went back to the same pub, and met a party of people, and the head of the party paid a $1,500 bar bill, but he was only drinking www.perrier.com and Angostura Bitters.  He had me over as his apartment with his two twin sons by the Carnegie Tower on upper Fifth Avenue.  He told me he was the Doctor in charge of keeping people from drinking alcohol at the www.un.org .  He told me he was going to spend Christmas Day with Happy Rockefeller.  He gave me $136 to take a taxi back to Greenwich, but I walked back to Grand Central Station, and I took the train back out to Greenwich.  Since he had a Rockefeller Connection, and I did not know how to pay him back, I drove over to the Union Church in North Tarrytown about twenty years ago, and I gave the minister $78 in cash at Christmas Time.  Ever since then I have been sending the Union Church in North Tarrytown $20 at Christmas Time.  It is an old Dutch Reform Church in a nice neighborhood.  On Christmas Eve on December 24, 1983, I ate a turkey croissant at Rue de Croissant in Greenwich, and Cliff Robertson and Dina Merrill were in there.  I went into Manhattan to Greenwich Village, and I started touring around, but nobody was around on Christmas Eve.  I met a Danish person that looked like the actor Richard Chamberlin whom was a house guest of Harry Helmsley, and we walked around Greenwich Village, and he called up Harry Helmsley every hour on a pay phone to let him know where he was.  That Christmas Morning the headlines in Greenwich Time were that the Helmsleys had bought the big estate up on Round Hill Road.  After that I did not go into Manhattan for several years, until I got a car.  CIO

12/11/23 Monday 3:50 A.M.  I moved the big brass Shield of Pall Mall from the left side of the kitchen entrance to the left side of the left living room closet, so it is more easily seen.  I am not sure what shield it is really is, but it is something I found in the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop many moons ago.  I then moved the little framed post card of Paris, France to the left side of the kitchen entrance.  Beneath it in the same frame is another post card that shows Palm Beach, Florida in the 1930s.  If one ever went South of the Mason Dixon Line and could afford to visit Palm Beach, the main post office square in Palm Beach is called, "Scott Square."

Also in my grandmother Boven's attic, when I checked it out in Holland, Michigan besides the old Edison light bulb that I took, there were lots of post cards from St. Augustine, Florida, when my grandfather Boven was down there in the 1920s.  Also this week on Fox News, they are also showing a Town Meeting from Holland, Michigan; so I guess being near Grand Rapids with Jerry Ford's republicans, there might be some other interesting people in that area.  Also my mother told me many times that www.coke.com was invented in a drug store in Holland, Michigan.  Also some of Henry www.ford.com 's original partners were from Holland, Michigan.  In World War II, Senator Vandenberg was a powerful Senator from Michigan, and out on the west coast North of Santa Barbara, there is Vandenberg Air Force Base that is also part of NASA.

12/11/23 Monday 1:40 A.M.  Hurley Harris Haywood like in the Harris Trust Bank of Chicago served in Viet Nam as a Captain driving the base commander at Da Nang.  He also was a medivac helicopter rescue pilot, so he had combat training.  He also was on the Board of Trustees of Norwich Military Academy up in Vermont.  Thus he had a bit of experience.  Coming from Oak Brook, Illinois, he also knew how to fly Michael Butler's private fleet of Lear Jets.  Thus he did more than race Porsche Cam Ams.  When I knew him R.J. Reynolds sponsored his Porsche Cam Am racing team.  A relative of a relative had a father who was also President of R.J. Reynolds.  In the old days when he owned Brumos Porsche and Mercedes in Jacksonville, Florida; he also got the first choice of German cars that came off the container ships.  He  used to like to break them in by driving across country on Interstate 10 to the West Coast, where he had a daughter.  On Jimmy Eldert, when I visited him at the University of New Hampshire in April 1977, he liked swimming in the cold water ponds at that time of year, and I once drove him up to Dartmouth College for a day, and we toured around.  Having had a British Connection having worked for Queen Elizabeth at her Sandringham Estate, he might be in the Cold Stream Guards.  That same summer, he was seen walking around www.nantucket.net in a St. Andrew's University T Shirt from Scotland , so he might have been there too.  None of these people ever contact me in Greenwich, because they have other experiences than I do in the Greenwich and New York City area.  George Gordon Cary is from East Aurora, New York, where it is very cold in the winter outside Buffalo, and he also has lived in Toronto.  CIO

I have a recently diseased relative from Greenwich who was in the Army Tenth Mountain Division in World War II.  I also once learned that www.dartmouth.edu has a Army Cold Weather Studies Program.  However, to go that far up North, the United States Government would have to give one some money for living expenses and buy one a new www.gmc.com .  When Hurley Haywood drove me out of Lake Forest, Illinois in the Fall of 1972, he was General Hurley's grandson who was Franklin Delano Roosevelt's ambassador at large in World War II, and the first American to deal with Mao Tse Tung, when he was just a house painter.  Around the first of the year in 1973, Hurley had me as a guest at the Waldorf Towers where General Macarthur once lived.  Fred Von Mierers through friends once had me interview with General Pershing's grandson down on Wall Street, but alas I just ended up doing a lot of walking in my younger years.

I guess after 40 years on Greenwich Avenue year round at all hours of the day, at age 73 I have to get use to a quieter retirement routine inside.  I like being out in the fresh air though and driving around downtown when nobody is around, but I can also be a bit more creative at home, if I put my mine to it.

I will now go outside.  CIO

12/09/23 Saturday 4:10 A.M.  I can hear a heck of a lot of traffic on nearby Interstate 95 at this hour of the morning.  Maybe the Army of the South is finally going South after the hurricane season.  CIO

12/09/23 Saturday 3:35 A.M.  I rested.  I channel surfed.  I will now go outside and drink a brewed coffee.  CIO

12/09/23 Saturday 2:10 A.M.  I put a whole wheat pita bread on a dinner plate.  I covered it on one side with Hellmann's mayonnaise.  I then alternated six slices of deli sliced ham with four slices of deli Norwegian Jarlsberg cheese, and I folded one side over the other.  I ate it with a 12 ounce glass Fresca with three ounces of grapefruit juice.  The slices of deli ham I am using are very thin, but the cheese is just as thin , so it is basically a ham and cheese sandwich.

I will now rest some more.

Also the German Battenberg Family that married into the British Royal Family were simple makers of hardware for cabinets, and with long forgotten wars, they use that talent make military hardware like guns and lots of money.  Also I think the Chinese invented gunpowder which Genghis Khan https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genghis_Khan used to his advantage.  CIO

12/09/23 Saturday 1:40 A.M.  As a matter of fact, Alfred Nobel who financed the Nobel prizes including the Norwegian Nobel Peace Prize invented nitroglycerin which was used to make dynamite and was a munitions manufacturer, so Sweden was not too Neutral unlike they say.  Obviously the DuPont family in the gun powder business and later in the dynamite business had connections with the Swedes.  The DuPont family even financed the DuPont gymnasium here in Greenwich at the Brunswick School.  As President Eisenhower said on retirement, "Beware of the Military Industrial Complex."  I do know in the Viet Nam War the French Rothschilds were trying to control the off shore oil off of Viet Nam for British Petroleum which they also owned.  The current Archbishop of Canterbury also used to work for British Petroleum before he got into religion.  CIO

12/09/23 Saturday 1:15 A.M.  I happen to know that some security conscious people do not use the internet, but only use telephone line fax for communications.   Also in my setup, the fax machine uses the Optimum Telephone line which runs through the internet, so I do not know how secure that it.

Also way out on www.nantucket.net , when I lived at 31 India Street in the summers of 1977 and 1978, I did not have a camera as a Polaroid photographer, but in that period the President of Eastman Kodak built a nice house across the street from 31 India Street, so somebody was taking pictures.  The house had a widow's walk and they also employed chimney sweepers which was important in the old days.  When I first met the Warburg family in Greenwich in 1962, they were into photography and had a photo lab on their farm beside Jim Junior being a photographer at Greenwich Country Day.  However, being German they used very good Leica and Minox cameras and drove a 1956 Mercedes 190 Sedan and a 1951 Volkswagen with a split rear window which might be valuable today.  Jim Senior started the term in 1952, "The New World Order."  However with a vast international banking family I am not familiar with what activates other family members are involved with.  I do know after the Civil War in America, the Warburg Bank helped finance John Davidson Rockefeller in his oil ventures, so there was European financing.  The Warburg Bank even finance the Pennsylvania Railroad in that period, so maybe they helped Andrew Carnegie get started in business in United States Steel after working for the Pennsylvania Railroad building steel railroad bridges.  Also the Warburg Bank were agents of the Rothschild Bank, but I am not sure which Rothschild Bank in what country like England that financed the Suez Canal, or France that over threw the King of France, or Germany that overthrew the Kaiser of Germany or Austria that overthrew the Czar of Russia.  Man who does not read history is bound to repeat himself as they say.  Well rich monarchs were always going to the Rothschild Bank to finance wars with their neighbors, and when they lost they might have been bankrupt.  Andrew Carnegie even met with the Kaiser of Germany before World War One try to prevent the war.  All of the communists started out with Marx from Austria that like studying at the library in England.  Lenin did get some money from Stalin, because Stalin was an expert at robbing banks.

I will now go outside again.  CIO

12/09/23 Saturday 12:35 A.M.  The Xerox software is installed, so I can now scan and fax with the Xerox Workcentre 3215, besides printing with it.  CIO

12/09/23 Saturday 12:15 A.M.  I went outside, and I drank a brewed coffee.  Midnight Mike Magic.  Ninth Circle TV repair is at full power.  On the living room desk with the backup computer, I moved the small  Alexa display to the right side of the desk.  The RCA Cordless telephone that was on the left side of the desk had fallen off the left side of the desk, so I repositioned it to a more secure location on the left side of the living room desk.  However, to get it to work, I followed its telephone line which comes out of the Xerox all purpose machine.  The telephone cable to the Xerox all purpose machine was disconnected to its telephone line coupler, so I reconnected it.  Thus the RCA cordless telephone with its base station on the left side of the living room desk now works off the Optimum long distance line, and so does its cordless remote work on the left hallway bookcase.  I think it is only 900 Mhz, so it is not 2.4 Mhz like the Panasonic two line cordless telephone setup.  Thus the Xerox all purpose machine with copying and scanning and fax off the primary work computer is setup to work, but I never installed its software on the primary work computer, since it is also setup on the Brother All Purpose machine.  I don't use the Xerox all purpose machine except for printing, because the Xerox toner cartridges are very expensive.  It is Xerox Workcentre 3215, so I will now install its software on the primary work computer.  CIO

12/08/23 Friday 11:05 P.M.  I moved the brown and tan Queen Anne chair on the right side of the Ethan Allen recliner a little bit forward.  I then moved the folding mahogany chair made in Viet Nam from the kitchen to behind the brown and tan Queen Anne chair and behind the primary work computer chair.  Then from the left side of the hallway entrance, I moved one of the bent oak chairs into the kitchen.  Thus the hallway entrance is now more open.  Even in a small apartment, there are a lot of details.  In a small apartment, one sets up different small areas of focus.  In Manhattan where the wealthy literary people live, they have apartments with walls of books and a few family keep sakes.  A lot of people in Manhattan spend their entire lives in small apartments unlike the Mc Mansions out in the suburbs.

I will now go outside again.  CIO

12/08/23 Friday 8:45 P.M.  I went outside, and I drank my coffee.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  CIO

12/08/23 Friday 7:00 P.M.  I woke up, and I ate a yogurt.  I finally woke up at 6:15 P.M..  I made my bed.  I went outside.  I picked up the mail. CIO

12/08/23 Friday 8:45 A.M.  I chatted with a relative.  I will now shut down the primary work computer, and I am going to bed.  CIO

12/08/23 Friday 8:20 A.M.  I was told by my neighbor who went to both Greenwich Hospital Emergency Room and the Stamford Hospital Emergency Room last night that both Emergency Rooms are over flowing with hundreds of refugees with children all wearing masks.

I am about to eat a 11 ounce Marie Callender chicken Alfredo meal with grated parmesan and Romano cheese and a 12 ounce glass of www.coke.com Zero Sugar.  CIO

12/08/23 Friday 7:40 A.M.  I practiced speaking American English.  Fred Von Mierers once tried to hire an Oxford Tutor to teach me Aristocratic English English, but I could not be bothered.  I chatted with a friend.  I will now go outside again.  If one had a little over $10 one could go to the Greenwich Hospital Cafeteria for a Farmer's Breakfast.  There is usually plenty of parking there this time of day.  The British Royalty are not really that prosperous.  King George VI Queen Elizabeth II's father went out hunting for food in a hunting party the day that he died.  I think he also set the clocks back a half hour, so he would always be on time.  I think there is a new bagel restaurant across the street from the Greenwich Train Station.  One could eat the bagel to go in the warm Greenwich Train Station which they are going to tear down and rebuild soon.  CIO

12/08/23 Friday 6:20 A.M.  When I attended www.lakeforest.edu from 1968 to 1972, we had very good security with Fort Sheridan with five thousand soldiers just to the South of us in Highwood, Illinois and Great Lakes Naval Station just to North of us with fifty thousand Navy personnel.  Thus during the sensitive Viet Nam War, I learned to mind my own business.  As I recall back then, there were no Asian students on our campus.  However, there was a Chinese laundry in town that only charged thirty five cents to wash and starch a Gant Oxford shirt which were made in New Haven, and the Gant Outlet in Norwalk, Connecticut used to sell for $5 unlike the same thing for $50 at the expensive Brooks Brother store.  The expensive Top Siders that the Yachtsmen wore on the East Coast cost $20 back then, but the United States Rubber factory store in Naugatuck, Connecticut use to sell them for $5.  Also when I was at the Taft School in Watertown, Connecticut from 1965 to 1968, the nearby town of Waterbury, Connecticut known as the Brass City was prosperous making artillery shells during the Viet Nam War too.  We also knew Bill De Sherburne in Greenwich that owned the brass lamp factory in Danbury.  When I got to www.nantucket.net , a group call Sherburne Associates was buying up all the waterfront property for some odd reason.  In my day, most of the housing stock in Nantucket were summer houses thrown together quickly without quality during the summer season for casual vacations.  They were quickly built with limited resources.  A lot of the cars were World War II rusted out Willy's Jeeps and a few more expensive American Motors jeeps.  There was only one Mobil station on the island.  By the time I left forty years ago, they had installed four British ship turbines for the power company to generate electricity that needed oil from off the island.  That British Turbine company is now owned by the Germans though, so maybe Fred Von Mierers and his German friends are important way out on Nantucket.  The head lawyer I knew about on Natucket was Henry Cabot Lodge Junior who was Richand Nixon's ambassador to Viet Nam.  A Taft classmate who was head monitor and served in Viet Nam was Bill Clinton's Deputy Defense Secretary is now retired on Nantucket.  He attended www.princeton.edu after the Viet Nam War.  I only visited Nantucket once since I left forty years ago for a weekend with Richard Van Marter, and the only person I recognized was Henry Bertram a Taft School classmate whose family I think owned Bertram Yachts.  His best friend at Taft for a long time Steve or Grant Porter was the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for many years.  He lived in Oyster Bay, Long Island.  CIO

12/08/23 Friday 5:30 A.M.  I practiced thinking and speaking English slowly.  I will now go outside and drink a brewed coffee.  No point facing the slow morning rush on Greenwich Avenue.  Basically Greenwich does not get busy until a few minutes before the New York Stock Exchange opens.  I have a friend with military experience that used to get up at 5 A.M., so I guess the military gets up earlier.  The Alexa display device says that ten million people work at night and the early morning hours in the United States of America, so I am not alone in this country at night.  However, they do not trust people on the East Coast which is full of foreigners.  Possibly the same on the West Coast.  CIO

12/08/23 Friday 3:35 A.M.  In my youth, when my father Louis Dale Scott had a corporate Monsanto membership at the Greenwich Country Club, and I was a 8 handicap golfer, I drove down from Boston, and I won the Junior Club Championship beating my best friend Chuck King and finally Peter Chester on the last hole.  We took the trophy cup which I was allowed to keep in Boston for a year to Herb Mayer's big house on Cherry Valley Road later owned by Mel Gibson and we drank champagne out of it.  I then drove back to Boston, where we kept it in my father's library at home for a year.  I got better in golf when up in Boston, although I was too busy working.  I even once played the longest golf course in America which was the International Telephone and Telegraph golf course in the Boston area which was 8700 yards long at the Professional tees.  Alas, when my family moved back to Greenwich with our Polaroid money in June 1973, when my father joined Combustion Engineering and then Continental Can, I could not afford to play golf at the Greenwich Country Club where we were still members.  I did go out there daily to charge cigarettes to my father.  I did play 18 holes out there in the summer of 1975 with Skip Walz who was the head of the Greens Committee which is the last time I played there.  Skip Walz was a friend of President Jerry Ford who was an honorary member there and had gone to www.yale.edu with him after World War II.  He was chief of security at Norton Simon that also owned the Canada Dry Research facility in Greenwich whose head beverage chemist Roger Hall lived next door to us on Cornelia Drive.  Also Paul Hicks who was assistant selectman of Greenwich was a neighbor.  It was a quiet neighborhood in those days.  Having been around a lot of beach front properties in my travels http://scott-mike.com/mlsbeach.htm and http://mikelouisscottcom.cv.siteprotect.net/mlsbeach.htm , somebody might have made money off Beach Front property, but none of it ever came my way.  I was told by the dermatologist Dr. Connors in Greenwich about 25 years ago not to go out in the sun until after 3 P.M., so I tried to take his advise.  Some of the companies my father worked for in the New York City area have paid a lot of taxes in this area unlike those individuals whom seem to get by buying and selling beans on the stock market.  My father's companies also made worthwhile products that people use in their every day lives.  Alas, other local business people try to mooch off profitable business ventures.  However, big companies do have lawyers and ways of protecting their intellectual property rights at least within this country.

I will now go outside again.  CIO

12/08/23 Friday 2:45 A.M.  This is sort of like my Nantucket Ashtray https://www.etsy.com/listing/1463968945/old-spouter-nantucket-mid-century-modern?gpla=1&gao=1& .  I guess someone on Nantucket used to do ceramics before they got into the more profitable business of Lightship baskets before the Asians took over that business.  CIO

12/08/23 Friday 1:30 A.M.  I leveled the miniature palm on the northwest side of the living room with a large print King James bible.   I then watered both miniature palms with two quarts of water each.  I then moved the family photo frame from the bookcase on the left side of the hallway, and I hung it on the left side living room closet.  I then moved the four inch miniature poinsettia plant from the oak dining table to in between the two glitter lamps on the left hallway entrance bookcase.  I knew from the German School of decorating at Fred Von Meier's apartment at 420 East 49th Street, one should not watch too much television because, "America Lives in a Hollywood Television Fantasy."  Also one can always try improve the overall setup of a small 450 foot square apartment by a few tweaks without doing too many major expenses like going to Sotheby's or Christie's auction houses with rich Scottish people like Kip Forbes trying to impress the cheap Scottish.  One of the last times I went to Manhattan was with Richard Van Matter over twenty years ago, and we had dinner and the Mayfair Restaurant on First Avenue and about 54th Street.  We then went across the street to either Billy's or Crawford's pub, and we met Ima Macdonald who lived in Noel Coward's old building on East 54th Street and looked like the Queen Mum of England.  She was with one of Winston Churchill's granddaughters worrying about crime in Manhattan.  She told me the Macdonald Clan had the Land Grant for Western Canada.  She was chatting with the sports editor of the New York Times who also frequented the same place.

I will now go outside again.  CIO

12/08/23 Friday 12:35 A.M.  Well, when I was in my 20s and early 30s, I looked like Prince Charles.  Today in my older age, I look a bit like https://www.rct.uk/collection/people/king-george-vi-king-of-the-united-kingdom-1895-1952#/type/subject and I also have a stutter.  I figure a lot of people have that look in England, but maybe they could pay me to be a Royal Decoy, since living in the crowded New York City area most of my life, I have been expert at avoiding trouble.  People in Manhattan used to always ask me how my mother was doing, but my mother hardly ever visited Manhattan except for July 4, 1976 when Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip were also there.  Still without money as the Duke of Windsor found out, one is nobody.  I once read that when Queen Elizabeth II was Queen, there were over 250 people in England that claimed they had a better right to be sovereign.  Maybe the Duke of Windsor might have thought my mother was a Vanderbilt which might attract royalty, since my mother was distantly related to the Vanderbilt's in the Netherlands.  CIO

12/08/23 Friday 12:05 A.M.  I went to the Stop and Shop at 161 West Putnam Avenue.  I bought a 48 ounce Silk vanilla unsweetened almond milk for $5.89 and five 8 ounce Green Giant microwave baby Brussels sprouts in butter sauce for $1 each for $10.89 total.  I then bought a four inch white poinsettia plant for $3.34.  I then toured www.cvs.com on Greenwich Avenue.  I then went by the new www.chase.com Bank ATM machine on the northeast corner of Greenwich Avenue and East Elm Street.  I then drove down Greenwich Avenue and past the Menorah at the World War One Veterans memorial and down Arch Street and back by the Greenwich Town Hall, and I returned home.  I put away the food.  I then put the grey bag back in the car.  I drank a brewed coffee outside.  I put the little four inch white poinsettia plant in between the two sitting places on the oak dining table.  I filed this report.  I will now go outside again.

I used to think that I might be the illegitimate son of the Duke of Windsor, and I was the real King of England.  My birth certificate in Alton, Illinois was signed by a Paul Price; like he was paid a price to sign it.  Alton, Illinois was across the River from St. Louis, Illinois; where McDonald Douglas aircraft was located, and the Duke of Windsor was an experience pilot traveling all of the time and my mother was good looking, but that is just probably another story trying to sell more coffee on Greenwich Avenue, but I have seen in my life a lot of British Royalty, but from what I learned from the internet all of the British Royalty do is travel around all of the time making public appearances, so lots of people see them all of the time.  I did learn off Sky News that the British railroads are no longer functional, and they are delayed and cancelled all of the time.  CIO

12/06/23 Wednesday 11:10 P.M.  At my Scott family's last house in Greenwich at 21 Cornelia Drive, we were neighbors of Mrs. Peterson whose husband was the founder of United State Tobacco which used to be across the street from the www.greenwichlibrary.org and in her estate she left $20 million to the Greenwich Library which was used to build the Peterson addition.  When my family were neighbors of Lowell Weicker's on Baldwin Farms North and also Baldwin Farms South, we knew the Cole family who were president of Reader's Digest which also gave a lot of money to Greenwich Library.  My only friend in the area was next door neighbors in Bedford, New York to the Wallace family that owned Reader's Digest.  I quit using the Greenwich Library regularly when Covid 19 broke out, but after all of the years around the Greenwich Library, people in Greenwich pretty much associate me with the Greenwich Library, although with the internet, I now do most of my research work at home.  Also having worked for Daniel Construction briefly in Greenville, South Carolina; I knew about other construction companies.  When I was last in Manhattan, Turner Construction built the annex to St. Vincent's Hospital in Greenwich Village.  Also Turner Construction built the new $450 million Watson Pavilion at the Greenwich Hospital.  Also my old neighbor on Steamboat Road who became President Trump, also was in the construction business.  He built the ice rink in Central Park very fast, so maybe he could have somebody build the new ice rink behind my building fairly fast.  CIO

12/05/23 Tuesday 7:35 A.M.  I practiced speaking Midwestern slow English which I once knew.  In cold weather, when one is outside, one tends to speak faster.  I then went outside.  I chatted with a friend.  I did not go downtown because to get a breakfast at McDonalds is about $8.68 and round trip downtown is about $4 in gasoline, so I figure for a $13 trip, I can eat better at home.  I will now shut down the primary work computer.  I will eat a yogurt.  I will then go to bed.  CIO

12/05/23 Tuesday 5:55 A.M.  On the Vizio 42 inch television on the far left side in the living room, MAX does work.  I then installed MAX on the 49 inch Samsung television on the far right side.  Good News, when one subscribes to MAX, one also gets Turner Classic Movies, so there is no need to subscribe to it on Cablevision.  Also on the Alexa Display, it now says the Rockefeller family are now worth $360 billion, and it shows a pictures of Nelson Rockefeller, so they made a quick $30 billion in a week.  However, the Alexa display says the Walton family is the wealthiest family.  It also says Elon Musk is the wealthiest person.  My viewpoint is that if the Rockefeller family still have influence in Greenwich besides the three major banks they control, they should figure out whom or whomever it is that thinks they can dictate policy around here.  Obviously with three major banks in town called www.chase.com J.P. Morgan, the Bank of New York Mellon, and CitiBank, they pay a lot of taxes whether or not they chose to live here year round or not.  It seems like somebody at the Round Hill Club whom never goes downtown and does not know what really goes on is trying to think that the internet does not exist, although 3.5 billion people in the world are using it.  Basically, if I were rich and bothered to own a computer, I would not put my portfolio on it, since it can be hacked to one's detriment.  When I knew Alex Gardner at the Greenwich Library and whom had gone to www.harvard.edu on R.O.T.C. and had a pent house at the John Hancock Building in Chicago next to the Drake Hotel which was John D. Rockefeller's III legal address for tax purposes, and whom had worked at Las Almos, and whom ran a fund in this area, he told me he prefered to balance out long hand at the end of every day.  He also drove a www.ford.com Explorer around at night, and he told me lived in New Canaan which is supposed to be the safest town in the United States, but the last time I saw him, he told me he had Parkinson's Syndrome, and he was walking around the Greenwich Library with a woman that looked like Laura Bush.  I also knew Zeb Garner from New Canaan in Manhattan, and he once visited our last house in Greenwich.

I will now go outside again.  CIO

12/05/23 Tuesday 4:55 A.M.  I put the throw pillow I took off the brown and tan Queen Anne chair, and I put it on the bent oak chair on the left side of the hallway entrance.  I moved the blue chair cushion from there to the folding mahogany chair from Viet Nam in the kitchen.  I updated the software on the Ocean Digital internet radio on the right side of the Queen Anne chair underneath the living room windows.  I channel surfed.  The 49 inch Samsung television has a Samsung app that has lots of other channels.  Beside Amazon and Netflix, it had HBO Max, but it now says HBO Max is not available.  It does have the Roku channel with lots of different channels.  I moved the stack of fairly new magazines from on top of the Apple laptop on the oak dining table to behind the bent oak chair by the hallway closet in the far right bookcase behind it.  It seems rather strange that the so called authorities in Greenwich deny that I have spent 40 years on Greenwich Avenue and most of it in the night hours.  One of the head judges in town knows that, because he has seen me in the early morning hours and early night hours many times.  Not to mention in the 4.5 years I lived on Steamboat Road, I lived across the street from another judge.  Also the local lawyer that I had look into my father's estate is also now a judge.  The first person I ever visited in Manhattan was a Taft Classmate Bob Sweet, whose father was deputy mayor in the Lindsay administration, and went on to become a Federal Judge until he passed away a few years ago.  Other Greenwich Country Day and Taft School classmates also happen to be judges also.  I do not know much about my classmates from Lake Forest College, but I was in class with the nephews of Henry Ford, so they might be able to afford lawyers.  One of the Ford boys became the mayor Vail, Colorado, before he bought a house in Hawaii.  It one wants to spend $30 a month, one can use this web site https://www.instantcheckmate.com/ to find out pretty much anything about anybody.  In using it, I found that some people I had once known had retired to Naples, Florida and then passed away.  Even the roommate from the Farm at Lake Forest College that used to stay up all night near the White House passed away in Naples, Florida.

I will now go outside again.  CIO

12/05/23 Tuesday 3:20 A.M.  I took the New Zealand sheep skin off the Queen Anne chair underneath the living room windows, and I stored it on the left side shelf of the bedroom closet shelf.  I then moved the Queen Anne chair that was underneath the living room windows to where the Queen Anne chair was on the right side of the Ethan Allen recliner.  I moved the Queen Anne chair that was on the right side of the Ethan Allen recliner to underneath the living room windows.  The brown and tan Queen chair on the right side of the Ethan Allen recliner is a bit bigger than the other one, and it is deeper for a bigger person to sit on and watch the Vizio 42 inch Smart TV on the far left of the living room television setup.

I will now go outside again.

12/04/23 Monday 7:40 P.M.  Back in the old days in Manhattan, there were hard working people from Vermont staying awake all night trying to sell live Christmas Trees at First Avenue and Beekman Place.  I guess with Stephen Rockefeller being the dean of Middlebury College up in Vermont, he had some friends trying to make a little extra money out of Vermont.  Also they sold live Christmas Trees on the northwest corner of Broadway and 72nd Street.  I also read about some hard working people from down South trying to sell live Christmas Trees in Greenwich Village.  In Holland, Michigan in the old days, they used to grow Scotch Pine Christmas Trees too.  Back around January 1975, I stayed with George Gordon Cary at his Aunt Mary Harriman Rumsey's apartment on East 72nd Street which was in a nice neighborhood.  Shortly there after Fred Von Mierers had myself and George Nichols the assistant editor of the New York Times move Helen Kress Williams from her gate house at the 40 acre estate on Long Island Sound in Oyster Bay, Long Island to a nice house next to the fire house in Locust Valley, Long Island.  It was a lot of work on a zero degree nights Fahrenheit for about three days.  I spent a lot of time trying to get the old antique grandfather's clock going too.  Helen Kress Williams liked collecting the mustache cups of famous men, so she had a lot of vintage mustache cups along with a lot of other vintage antiques.  She did take us to Sunday Dinner at the Winter Club in Oyster Bay.  On the way out to Greenwich on the New Haven line, I was arrested for not paying a $2.15 train fare and held over night in the Mount Vernon jail.  When I got out of jail that morning, the headlines in the Daily News was the Penn Central Railroad was bankrupt.  That evening or the next evening, I drove my mother and youngest sister into Manhattan, and we stopped by Fred's apartment at 420 East 49th Street, and I showed them around.  We then picked up Helen Kress Williams at her apartment at East 67th Street, and we all went to my loft party above the Oldsmobile garage on West 57th Street across from the CBS broadcast center.   There were about five hundred people there.  They decorated the place with aquariums and entry to the party was only $5 with all that one could drink.  I recall chatting with a Japanese pianist name Lance, and I was later told he was Emperor Hirohito of Japan's grandson.  I think the night I was arrested, I had been invited to Kip Forbes' Victorian Society Party at Grammercy Park, but I think it cost a lot of money to go to, so I was not able to attend.  I recall after my party in the blizzard, I started spending more time in the economically depressed Greenwich, Connecticut before I hitchhiked to www.nantucket.net in July 1975 after having spent the Spring of 1975 swimming at the lake at Conyers Farm with the class of 1975 from the Greenwich High School.  I recall in Locust Valley, there was a pub called "Sporters" next to Helen Kress Williams new rental house with lots of youth wearing orange parkas, so I thought they might have been from the House of Orange Nassau.  I do know in that period in Manhattan, I knew Jeremy Wind who had a small apartment on East 75th Street and a big horse farm with George Morrison in New Hope, Pennsylvania that I visited once with George Cary, and Jeremy was a Knight of the House of Orange.  Also once at the Ninth Circle Pub, I met a read haired older man that was staying at the Chelsea Hotel, and he told me he lived at the Frick Estate on Long Island which might have been the retirement Frick Mansion in Glencoe, Long Island where Vivian West stayed when she was recuperating from a cigarette burn accident back in December 1980.

12/03/23 Sunday 6:10 P.M.  When I used Fred Von Mierers' apartment at 420 East 49th Street from October 1973 to February 1975, the father of a www.lakeforest.edu roommate Bennett Cerf owned Random House on East 49th Street where Jackie Kennedy Onassis worked, and it also housed the Swedish and Norwegian consulates to the United Nations.  On the northeast corner of East 50th Street and First Avenue, there was a Greek coffee shop, and a bacon and eggs and English muffin and coffee and orange juice breakfast was about $2.50 and a .50 tip.  Up at around 54th Street and Second Avenue, one could buy the New York Times for a quarter at a news stand to read there.  Beekman Place was made popular by the movie, "Auntie Mame."  On east 54th Street just east of First Avenue, where Fred moved, Joe MacDonald lived.  Noel Coward also lived there.  The building was made famous by the movie, "The Gumball Rally", about the a automobile race from that building to Malibu.  It also later started from the Lock, Stock, and Barrel pub in Darien, Connecticut.  I think Teddy Kennedy might have had an apartment in that building too.  Walter Cronkite lived nearby on Sutton Place.  At 59th Street and First Avenue on the northwest corner was Daly's restaurant near Ford Modeling.  I knew two waiters there that had worked for CBS.  I met Shawn Hemingway there when he got out of school in Switzerland, and he was Ernest Hemingway's nephew.  There was also a covered tennis court underneath the Queensboro Bridge.  Joe DiMaggio and Marylyn Monroe lived on East 57th Street and the East River.  When I had to move out of Julie Bolton's apartment at 315 West 74th Street in February 1982, when it was a minus 20 below wind chill factor, I met Bobby Fink who lived on East 52nd Street above a little Episcopal Church in a well heated studio apartment.  He put me up for a week, before I flew down to Key West.  He had the first cable television I ever saw, but all that was on it was "Dr. Zhivago" being played over and over.  Fred Von Mierers also introduced me to Tennessee Williams on East 52nd Street.  As I recall Abby Rockefeller had a half block long house designed by Phillip Johnson East 52nd Street.  Across the street from it was the small vest pocket park donated by Bill Paley of CBS.  She also donated a museum in Ridgefield, Connecticut.  Also one of her husband's relatives might now be running the Rockefeller Foundation out of Florida, where he is an artist.

When I first started using Fred Von Mierers' apartment at 420 East 49th Street in October 1973 about the time the stock market crashed and the Arab oil embargo started, there were Greenwich connections in Fred's neighborhood.  Wilbur Banks from Greenwich showed up at Fred's apartment and sold him a new Electrolux vacuum cleaner with power nozzle for about $400.  Fred's boss Billy Baldwin was friends of the Duke of Windsor, and the Duke of Windsor once dedicated a statue at the Electrolux factory in Old Greenwich.  Also when the Duke of Windsor was governor of the Bahamas, he would barrow the Swedish owner of Electrolux's yacht called the, "Southern Cross."  Also in Fred's Beekman Place neighborhood on East 52nd Street near Henry Kissinger, Michael Bickford from Greenwich had an apartment.  The Bickfords were famous in the old days for Bickford's coffee shops which evolved into Ihop or the International House of Pancakes.  Michael Bickford, when he was a student at www.harvard.edu was mugged at the Bickford's coffee shop at Harvard Square.  I knew some of the younger members of his family all of which are probably old men by now.  Also the two Royal Blue Daimlers I used to see parked in DPL spots on East 49th Street, I once saw one of them being maintained at the www.exxon.com gasoline station across from the Greenwich Library which is now a www.chase.com Bank at Deerfield Place.  CIO

12/03/23 Sunday 6:10 A.M.  One of the important things that Fred Von Mierers and Helen Kress Williams worked on was this Ball https://www.internationaldebutanteball.org/ which is probably a very complex affair.  When I knew Fred, and I turned on the little six inch Sony television with rabbit ears in his apartment at 420 East 49th Street, he showed up on the television shaking hands with General William Westmoreland whom also was an honorary member of the Greenwich Country Club here in Greenwich.  I even ended up living in Greenville, South Carolina for six months, where he was from.  However, right before the bicentennial on July 4, 1976 I had to quickly move back up to Greenwich with a U-haul trailer, and I attended the festivities, and I stood in front of every one in Battery Park, while my mother and her Indian Harbor Yacht Club friends viewed it from the pent house of the www.chase.com Bank down on Wall Street.  I even saw Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip the following day touring Bloomingdales, where they must sell a lot of wool products.  As I recall after that I went back up to www.nantucket.net , but for lack of funds I returned to Greenwich, and then around the third week of September 1976, I drove down to Fort Lauderdale where the King of Norway just happened to be visiting.  I  guess he brought a lot of cold weather down with him, since that was a cold winter in Florida, and on Thanksgiving Morning in 1976, according to the Bank Sign at the Swimming Hall of Fame, it was 21 degrees Fahrenheit with the University of New Hampshire swim team swimming outside.  However, I recall seeing the Norwegian training tall ship down there the Christian Rydek.  The Florida Sea Scouts also had a tall ship down there.  Also there was a Tall ship named the "Unicorn".  At that period the British cruise ship Queen Elizabeth II used to show up in Port Everglades, and I was told by their Captain they had a deluxe pent house suite that only the Rockefellers or the Kennedys could possibly afford.  The cruise ship beside delivering liquor around the world would also deliver about fifty Rolls Royce cars to Palm Beach, which I would not afford.

12/03/23 Sunday 5:25 A.M.  I moved the folding mahogany chair from Viet Nam from the kitchen to along side the sweater closet in the hallway.  I moved the bent oak chair from in front of the mahogany bureau in the living room into the kitchen.  This might apply to my apartment https://thedesigntabloid.com/2011/09/22/decor-dictionary-chinoiserie/.  The last time I actually talked to Fred Von Mierers in his new apartment on East 54th Street just east of First Avenue a year or two before he died in North Carolina, he told me was working for Mrs. Vanderbilt in Newport, Rhode Island.  He also was reading big thick books over 400 years old in Chinese.  I do know at www.rockefeller.edu the library was full of books in Chinese that were very old.

12/03/23 Sunday 3:55 A.M.  From behind the Queen Anne chair, I moved one of the bent oak chair to in front of the bookcase on the left side of the hallway entrance.  I moved the other bent oak chair from behind the Queen Anne chair to in front of the mahogany bureau to the right of the cable box.  I moved the Ethan Allen recliner where the Queen Anne chair was, and I moved the Queen Anne chair where the Ethan Allen recliner was.  I put the orange and yellow throw that my mother made on the back of the Queen Anne chair.  I took the dark blue and light blue comforter off the Ethan Allen recliner, and I store it back on the left side of the bedroom closet shelf.  I put on of the throw pillows on the Ethan Allen recliner.  Now the Ethan Allen recliner more fully reclines.  Thus the sitting area is more conversational for a small group of people to conspire to take over Greenwich or whatever they are planning.  That 125 pound Ethan Allen recliner is awfully heavy.  I do not know how I was able to bring it up here about four years ago from the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop.

12/03/23 Sunday 2:10 A.M.  I rested a bit.  I channel surfed.  I went outside, and I drank a brewed coffee.  When John Bolton and myself arrived way out on www.nantucket.net in the spring of 1978, we stayed at Flossie's board house at 31 India Street.  Flossie pretty much knew everyone on the island, and she knew me from the year before.  She was able to get a John a job at Cumberland Farms just outside of town, since Bill Morrison another one of her guests also worked there.  I though Bill Morrison might have been from down South, since down South there used to be a Morrison's cafeterias all over the South, and they used to even do catering at the Senior Center here.  Bill Morrison probably weighed close to 350 pounds or more, but William Frances Morrison was also the real name of John Wayne.  I remember when using Fred Von Mierer's apartment at 420 East 49th Street in Manhattan, John Wayne's son lived on Beekman Place.  I saw him a number of times, but I never chatted with him.  I recall seeing somebody that looked like John Wayne, when I was in Laguna Beach later on that year.  Also at the time, Johnny Caron of the Tonight show lived on Beekman Place.  Fred knew the Shah of Iran's niece that lived on Beekman Place.  John D. Rockefeller III lived on Beekman Place.  The British ambassador to the United Nations lived on Beekman Place.  David Wise who wrote the book on the CIA lived on Beekman Place.  Huntington Hartford of the A&P grocery store chain lived on Beekman Place.  The current secretary of state grew up on Beekman Place.  John Beninger a Lake Forest college classmate lived on Beekman Place.  Henry Kissinger lived two blocks North on East 52nd Street across from Gretta Garbo near the River Club.  Also Paul Mellon's son ran a florist on First Avenue next to Beekman Place.  Just south of 49th Street I think on 47th Street, there was a whole block building for the Ford Foundation near the www.un.org on the East River.  Howard Hughes also lived on East 49th Street, so as a younger person I was probably walking around a lot of famous people that I did not notice.  Also Fred's butler or major domo Ed Powers had a street level room just east of Fred's apartment, where he kept stuff, when he was not doing errands on the Beekman Place area.  I once saw him in Old Greenwich, and I read off the internet, he was now working at Grace Church on University Place and 13th Street in Greenwich Village, one of the wealthiest churches in the New York City area.  Buz King whose family had a nice house on the beach in Daytona, and he did catering in Manhattan told me Fred was a complete fraud.  Also the Kips Bay boys club was at 51st Street and First Avenue.  The Vanderbilt Y.M.C.A. was at about 47th Street and Second Avenue, so there were other younger people in the Beekman Place neighborhood in my day, but they are all probably retired by now.  CIO

12/01/23 Friday 8:55 A.M.  I channel surfed.  I went outside again.  I guess not too many people go to work on Fridays anymore.  They seem to work a four day work week, or work at home on Fridays.  I know in France, because there are so many people in Europe, they only work a 28 hour work week, and they also get two months vacation in the summer.  I was once told by a Canadian neighbor that the Canadians all leave Canada after Canadian Thanksgiving day, which I think is some time in October.  Alas, since nobody pretty much communicates with me, I guess the wealthier people in this area have their own private sources of information based on what they can afford.  Half the Town of Greenwich is supposed to be under sixteen years of age, so that keeps a lot of the older generation busier with activities that relate to the younger generation.  When I was 15 years old, I took a summer school course at Eastern Middle School in typing on an www.ibm.com Selectric type writer which had the little round ball with characters.  I suppose a lot of non typing people are now dictating to their smart devices.  In Civilian typing, they teach, "The Quick Brown Fox Jumped over the Lazy Dog."  In the military typing, they teach, "Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country," or something like that.  I found this though https://10fastfingers.com/text/55347-The-Military-Alphabet .  My last room mate in Manhattan up until February 1982 was the head of word processing in Cyrus Vance's law firm after he was secretary of state.  On the old non computer word processors, she could type 182 words per minute.  I guess she listened to lawyers off Dictaphone tapes.  Law school is expensive https://law.yale.edu/admissions/cost-financial-aid/cost-attendance , so I guess I first got into trouble in Greenwich in October 1975 for camping out in the basement of the Yale Law School, although I did know William Polk Cary in Manhattan whose family were involved in starting the law firm of Davis Polk and Wardwell.  I think the Polk was former President Polk, so they have been in business for a long time.  I think the last time I was around the Yale Law School, I saw somebody going to breakfast there at 7 A.M., and he was from Illinois, when most of the other students did not show up until much later in the morning.  I think about that time, I saw John Lindsay the former mayor of New York City lecture on Ethics, but very few students attended.  I did visit www.yale.edu when former President George H.W. Bush spoke at one of their graduations.  My stepfather's father gave $50,000 to Yale in 1872, so he must have gone to Yale, when my step father only went to www.princeton.edu which is more a country atmosphere.  Andrew Carnegie endowed Princeton with a grant to always have green lawns or a sod farm, so they probably still grow sod their with the Carnegie endowment.  Tom Scott after the Civil War employed Andrew Carnegie as a telegraph operator and let him use his private library.  Tom Scott was the President of the Pennsylvania Railroad, and he also organized the Standard Oil Trust of John Davidson Rockefeller.  I guess a lot is lost in Modern History.  In  the old days, both the President of the Pennsylvania Railroad the President of Scott Paper were on the Board of J.P. Morgan, so there might be a little money in Pennsylvania that somebody forgot about.  All I hear about here is Helen Clay Frick from Pittsburg living in a little farm house in the old days in Bedford, New York.  Bessemer Trust is down at 600 Steamboat Road, and it used to be known as, "Rich Aunt Bessie," when in the old days, people took the railroad to Palm Beach, but I can not remember the name of that movie.  I do recall hearing or reading at one time, the Vanderbilt family before they went broke once kept a minor presence in Palm Beach with their railroad connections and shipping connections.  I found though in my period in South Florida, it also gets cold in the Winter in Palm Beach according to the Bank sign on the Florida Turnpike, so without any place to stay, I found Key West a bit warmer.  I did once read in the Fort Lauderdale Sun Sentinel that somebody name Michael Vanderbilt owned a million acres of property in Florida.  It must have been an old railroad grant that people forgot about up North.

I will now go outside again.  CIO

12/01/23 Friday 6:55 A.M.  When I was at www.lakeforest.edu , the last year I was a student representative on the Board of Trustees.  I learned about the college's only asset was this $7 million building that housed this music company https://www.lyonhealy.com/  CIO

12/01/23 Friday 6:50 A.M.  I listened to music off the Amazon Display.  I put a mouse pad underneath it, so it does not vibrate on top of the brass and glass end table.  I will now go outside and drink a brewed coffee.  CIO

12/01/23 Friday 4:20 A.M.  Once winters sets in here in the Northeast, people lead a quieter routine.  I imagine a lot of people in Greenwich still spend a lot of time reading books from the www.greenwichlibrary.org , but when I chat with people downtown, they seem to have a different viewpoint in downtown Greenwich, and they are only interested in making money however they do it.  CIO

12/01/23 Friday 4:05 A.M.  Big Mac news https://www.foxbusiness.com/markets/mcdonalds-revamp-burger-patties-major-fast-food-overhaul-no-more-dry-patties .  When I went to www.lakeforest.edu from 1968 to 1972, instead of eating at the cafeteria the last two years, when I lived off campus at the Farm in Knollwood, Illinois, I would eat a later breakfast at Mitchell's restaurant in downtown Lake Forest of scrambled eggs, bacon, pancakes with syrup, orange juice, and coffee.  For dinner, I would drive to west side of town by the railroad tracks, and I would go to www.mcdonalds.com and I would eat two 15 cent cheeseburgers with 15 cent French fries and a dime www.coke.com .  Some times for a late night snack or early morning breakfast, I would go out with friends to the Harvey's restaurant on the Milwaukee toll road near the farm and have a farmers breakfast of scrambles eggs, hash brown potatoes, bacon, toast with butter, and coffee.  In Illinois it is closer to where a lot of the food in America comes from, so the food was cheaper out there in my time unlike back East, where it all has to be trucked in from else where.  CIO

12/01/23 Friday 3:45 A.M.  At 3:30 A.M., when I was outside at the picnic table, the light colored lame wolf walked by me about fifty feet away.  I guess it is used to seeing me around.  With all of the leaves in the woods this time of year, it makes noise moving around.  Out on www.nantucket.net , we did not have many wild animals, but there were probably great white sharks and orcas.  CIO

I guess there are not many night people out in the boon docks of greater southwestern Connecticut.  Back when I was younger, we would some times drive to the rest areas in Darien, Connecticut off Interstate 95 to see if there were any travelers in this area, but at my age; they tell me that would be too dangerous.

I will now go outside and drink a brewed coffee.  CIO
