I also steamed a pound of cut asparagus and a dozen medium mushrooms which I put a little olive oil on them after cooking. I also reheated the mashed butternut squash which has a little bit of butter, honey, and maple syrup on it. We ate it all with a glass of iced tea. We then ate pieces of the homemade apple pie that my guest made. We will now go out for a walk. CIO

We then drove through town, and then I went by the Exxon gasoline station next to the Greenwich Library, and I bought $11.25 of premium unleaded gasoline at $2.359 a gallon for 14.6 miles per gallon usage averaging driving 13 miles per hours around town. We then returned back to my apartment, and I chatted on my friend's cell phone with a relative. CIO

Note: <888> 12/30/04 Thursday 11:50 P.M.: I am not getting the signal line on the Sony monitor that I use to get with the other cable, but the Sony monitor blurred after five minutes. I rebooted and changed the CMOS video init to PCI, and I will now wait and see what happens. I am online, but I do not think it is an online problem such as a hacker. However, we do know it worked in Safe mode when I was not online. CIO
Note: <888> 12/30/04 Thursday 11:25 P.M.: I adjusted the Nvidia settings for the Mad Dog Multimedia card. I did a reboot, and I selected for PCI to be the first video mode to boot instead of AGP. I booted in Window XP safe mode with the cable modem turned off. I set the Sony Monitor to power saver of 60 minutes in the monitor menu settings instead of 1 minute. For a half hour the Sony monitor did not blur of go fuzzy, so I do not think it is a problem with the Sony monitor. I then shut down, and I switch back the monitor cables, so the Sony Monitor is on the Mad Dog multimedia 64 meg. AGP video card, and the Dell monitor is on the Diamond Multimedia 32 meg. PCI video card. I did notice on the video cable connected from the Sony monitor to the Mad Dog AGP video card, the thread screws do not screw in all the way, so there could be conceivable a loose connection if it pulls out a little bit. I replaced the video cable with a new Dell video cable that I had that the thread screws screw in tightly. I connected the other USB devices to the Sony monitor. I then rebooted, and set the CMOS to AGP video init and then booted with the cable modem turned on. I will now see if the new video cable or the other setting changes I did fixes the problem. I can work on the computer while I wait to see it that fixed the problem of blurring on the Sony monitor. CIO
Note: <888> 12/30/04 Thursday 9:35 P.M.: The Sony monitor has faded out again, so I will have to replace it. This will take 10 to 15 minutes. I will now shut down. CIO
Note: <888> 12/30/04 Thursday 9:20 P.M.: Both monitors are clear right now, I will have to wait some more to see what if anything happens. CIO
Note: <888> 12/30/04 Thursday 8:55 P.M.: The Sony monitor went fuzzy again. Before I replace it, I will exchange both monitors with both video cards to see if that makes a difference. CIO
Note: <888> 12/30/04 Thursday 8:40 P.M.: I disconnected the Sony 20 inch monitor, and I put it on the dining room table, and I removed the four screws that hold the back of the case on. The two upper ones are on either side behind plastic covers. I then removed the six screws that hold the metal shielding cover on top on the inside, and I removed the metal shielding. I then used my tiny electronics vacuum, and I vacuumed the electronic parts and wires. I then used a regular Electrolux vacuum with hose and brush nozzle, and I vacuum the larger dusty areas. I then reversed the hose on the outlet of the Electrolux vacuum, and I blew out with the air the accumulated dust on the inside of the monitor covering the wires, electronic components, and other areas. I moved a few wires that were touching the rear of the glass tube. To avoid shock from the built up electric charge in the picture tube, I put on rubber gloves and rubber shoes, and I pushed down the heavy cable that goes into the glass picture tube to make sure it is making contact. I also pushed in on the other end where it goes into the electronics. The inside of the Sony monitor was quite dusty and dirty, so maybe that caused it not to work properly. I then put the shielding and the case cover back on the monitor, and I reconnected it. I am now testing it to see if it fades out or goes fuzzy again after five minutes. The Sony monitor also has four USB ports that I use. I had to remove the 3M hook from the right side of the monitor to open up the case. CIO
Note: <888> 12/30/04 Thursday 7:20 P.M.: I ate the pizza. The Sony monitor went fuzzy again, so I will now disconnect it and open it up and try to fix it. I once had a problem with a small spider climbing into it, and I heard a zap when that happened. CIO
Note: <888> 12/30/04 Thursday 7:05 P.M.: I checked the video cable on the back of the Sony monitor where it connects to the monitor, and it was lose, so I tightened the hand turn thumb screws on the cable, and I rebooted the computer, and I adjusted the monitor settings in the monitor control menu. I will now see if it fades out or goes fuzzy after a short period or not. The pizza is ready. CIO
Note: <888> 12/30/04 Thursday 6:45 P.M.: I opened up the Stouffer's 11.75 ounce box containing two double cheese French bread pizzas, and I put them in a aluminum baking pan that I keep on top of the General Electric microwave oven, and I put them in the Farberware convection oven at 325 degrees Fahrenheit for 18 minutes, a shorter baking time, since convection ovens cook faster. I will eat them with a glass of iced tea. I will now shut down the computer, and I will try to fix the Sony monitor or replace it. CIO
Note: <888> 12/30/04 Thursday 6:25 P.M.: I went out after the last message. I went by Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street. I then went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop, and I bought a 8 inch by 10 inch red leather picture frame with glass for a dollar. I then went by my 3 P.M. appointment. I next drove down by the waterfront, and since it was a warmer day, I walked out on to the pier to enjoy the view of Long Island Sound. I found a plastic place mat which contained a picture of the solar system with both English and French titles. I left it on the back seat of the Volvo with the black comforter. I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought three 6.5 ounce dry cans of California black pitted olives for .99 each, a 10 ounce bag of fresh spinach for $1.99, a few day old 10 ounce box of fresh mushrooms for .99, and a piece of fresh Atlantic salmon at $5.99 a pound for $5.54 for $11.49 total. I have a total Stop and Shop savings card total this year of $617.95. My CVS card savings for this year are $423.67. Thus with both savings cards, I have saved this year a $1,041.62 . Of course the Greenwich, Connecticut grocery and drugstore prices tend to be higher than the national average. I then went by the Food Emporium, and I bought four 5 ounce packages of Master Choice saffron rice for .59 each, two half gallons of Tropicana orange juice with calcium for $2.50 each, and fresh asparagus at $1.99 a pound for $1.87 for $9.23 total. I then returned home, and I had a message from my friend that he would not be coming down this afternoon. My friend called, and he will come down tomorrow afternoon between 3 P.M. and 4 P.M., and we will have the salmon, saffron rice, fresh asparagus and mushrooms for dinner tomorrow night on New Years Eve. My friend will spend the evening on New Years Eve, and we will take a walk at Tod's Point on New Years Day. It is suppose to 60 degrees on New Years Day. I am fixing my friend a good meal, since he will be dropping me off and picking me up at the airport when I travel to Florida next week and the week after. I then paid my final of four payments for my six month GEICO www.geico.com automobile insurance policy online where they deduct it in a few days from my checking account. I will not have GEICO automobile insurance payments in February or March. I pay about $800 a year for automobile insurance coverage of $100,000, $100,000, $300,000 which also includes collision and comprehensive insurance along with liability. The right Sony monitor keeps turning fuzzy, so after dinner, I will try to fix it by taking the cover off and checking the connections and cleaning it with my small electronics vacuum. If that does not work, I will move from the Dell backup computer the 19 inch Compaq monitor to the left side, and I will use my 20 inch Dell monitor for the right side. I will also have to change the 3M hooks on the sides of the two primary computer monitors, but they are the 3M hooks that remove easily. I would then take the spare 19 inch Dell monitor from the bedroom desk, and I would put it with the Dell backup computer. CIO
Note: <888> 12/30/04 Thursday 12:35 P.M.: I have four backup 19 inch monitors if the Sony 20 inch monitor malfunctions, but for now it is still occasionally working all right. I will now shut down the computer, and I will clean up, and I will go out for my 3 P.M. appointment. I will see how the Sony Monitor works when I get back. I have a guest at 4:30 P.M.. CIO

I made and ate my usual salad www.geocities.com/mikelscott/salad.htm . I did not use hummus. Instead of tuna fish, I used a tin of sardines that I chopped. I used three black olives, and seven small stuffed green olives. For the cheddar cheese portion, I used Stop and Shop Vermont extra sharp cheddar cheese and Kraft Cracker Barrel extra sharp white cheese. I used all of the other regular ingredients. I ate the salad with a glass of iced tea. I finished running Norton Speed Disk on the C: drive. I am tired, so I will now shut down the computer, and I will go to bed soon. Note: <888> 12/29/04 Wednesday 4:40 P.M.: I changed the hardware configuration around. I have the Siemens router connected to the Motorola cable modem. From the Siemens router LAN ports, I have the primary computer LAN on LAN port 1, the bedroom LAN connection on LAN port 2, the AT&T wireless router on LAN port 3, and the 8 port Ethernet Switch next to the Dell backup on LAN port 4. I have the power to the AT&T router connected to the left labeled switch on the Dell backup computer control panel. With this setup the backup computers and any wireless computers can print to the printers connected to the port box connected to the Siemens router. I installed the 54 Mbps 802.11g Wireless LAN USB 2.0 on the primary computer, and I disconnected its LAN cable, but first I installed the wireless drivers. When I plugged the 54 Mbps 802.11g Wireless LAN USB 2.0 to one of the two front USB 2.0 ports it was recognized, and it went online. It is interesting that it also detects another Netgear Wireless router at about half the same high speed, so it must be in a nearby apartment or in a neighboring building. I set up the default settings on the AT&T wireless router without any security. I connected the HP PhotoSmart 1000 printer into the extension cord for the cable modem, so it always has power for the memory card slots, but one has to turn it on to print with the switch on the printer. I ran all of the utilities, but I still have to run Norton Speed Disk. The AT&T wireless router with receiver a few feet away gives me the same internet speed as with the direct LAN connection. However, I will not be using it much since I have the direct LAN connection, but it is available for emergency wireless laptop use in the apartment are nearby in the building. To use the Dell backup computer online now, one also has to turn on the 8 port Ethernet adaptor which is switched on from the Dell backup computer control panel. I will now turn off the AT&T wireless router, and I will disconnect the 54 Mbps 802.11g Wireless LAN USB 2.0 and place it on the left side of the keyboard shelf of the Dell backup computer to have available for use with a laptop with USB port. Of course one would need to install the drivers. It would be the same to use the Siemens printer port in that one would need the drivers. I put the two CDs from the two devices in jewel cases, and I put them in the top center CD rack to the right of the computer chair, but for now, they are on top of it. I will now run Norton Speed Disk on the C: drive. CIO
Note: <888> 12/29/04 Wednesday 2:05 P.M.: I ran the utilities mentioned in the previous note including Norton Disk Doctor. I went outside, and I threw out some garbage, and I chatted with some neighbors, and I picked up the mail. I started making a batch of www.geocities.com/mikelscott/icetea.htm . I finished the C: drive to the D: drive backup with Windows backup Automatic System Recovery. I still have to backup the My Documents folder with its Favorites. At 1:15 P.M. FedEx www.fedex.com delivered the AT&T 6850G 108Mbps 802.11g Wireless Router - CompUSA.com . I need to make a sign for outside my apartment door for people at my door to ring both door bells, because I am not use to hearing the living room door bell, which is not very loud. I connected the AT&T wireless router transformer to the power strip to the right of the primary computer CPU that turns on with the router switch on the Belkin Desktop control panel. I moved the Texas long horn ashtray from on top of the speaker in the corner to the right of the primary computer, and I put it on top of the left monitor on the right side. I put the AT&T wireless router on top of that speaker which is in the corner about five feet off the floor, and I connected with a spare LAN cable the AT&T wireless router to the cable Motorola cable modem, and and the AT&T wireless router's first LAN port to the Siemens router. I turned on the Router switch on the Belkin control panel underneath the right monitor, and the computer went on line with that configuration. The AT&T wireless router came with a CD with drivers and software and manual that I have yet to look at. I also have not tested the Wireless LAN USB 2.0 adaptor. However, I should be sending out a 2.4 gigahertz WiFi signal. I will now back up the "My Documents" folder and then run Norton Speed Disk. CIO
Note: <888> 12/29/04 Wednesday 11:55 A.M.: I was up at 10 A.M.. I ate breakfast of oatmeal, toast with grape jelly, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I have been on the internet now, I think for over 10 years and using personal computers for 14 years. When I originally started to the use the internet with Netcom, one of the first web links I looked at was the one of the NASA Radar imaging satellite photographing volcanoes in the Cascades Range. I developed the web directory of Volcano links Michael Louis Scott's Volcanoes and Earthquakes and Geoscience Directory #2 March 17, 2004 and Volcanoes and Earthquakes and Geoscience Directory and Volcanos and Earthquakes and Geoscience, Scott's Internet Hotlist as part of my downloadable directory Download Scott's Internet Directory "scott008.zip" 2.30 megs and open "scotlist.htm" in web browser 12/20/04 . Most of the links came from reading Global Volcanism Program | Volcanic Activity Reports which I subscribed to via email and from looking at other Volcano web sites mostly in English. Since I live on limited subsistence income, I received a small amount of financial help from my family to help pay for the computer activity which is very expensive. I once applied to the United States Government through Congressman Christopher Shays of Connecticut for a $50,000 grant to continue my directory activity, but I was turned down, and the state of Connecticut quit paying for the electricity in the building that I live in which included electric heat, so my expenses went up. There was not too much interest in the directory or the volcano category, and after the terrorist attack of "911", Excite @Home went out of business, and Cablevision's new internet service provider Optimum.net would not allow static IP addresses, so one could run a internet server, and I could not afford a dedicated line to run the server, so I used the free geocities.com web site to run most of the substantial content from my old server. I also let the internet names mikescott.net and mikescott.org lapse. I never received any communications ever on my internet work from anyone involved in computers over the last two years except two emails from Bill Gates, one of which was encrypted, so I could not read it, and one from Tim Berners Lee, saying to keep up the good work. However, as the internet evolved, the technology evolved and my downloadable directory concept became a bit out of date. I did read on the internet that the United States government had funded Lawrence Livermore Laboratory Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory a billion dollars for research into volcanic problems. However, none of that funding was ever made available to me. Thus my internet presence is more of a home brewed presence based on my personal experience on limited income. It is really more of a public relations effort on my part to show that individuals whom by Yuppies are considered over the hill can still add their presence to main stream life in the world. Having only read one book in the last two years called "Krakatoa" by Simon Winchester Simon Winchester Krakatoa , it explained to me what happened back in 1882 when Krakatoa erupted which included a major tsunami. Thus the recent events without the volcanic eruption have mirrored that event in terms of the tsunami events recently in that part of the world. I am not a geologist or volcanologist, I just read the reports that others publish. I do know it is common knowledge after an earthquake around the ocean one can have a tsunami event. Most of the less developed countries still have seismic equipment as well as communications, but in an area like the Java sea where seismic events are so frequent due to the tectonic nature of the area, the general public probably becomes complacent over time and does not respond to warnings or alerts. It is my personal viewpoint that the recent earthquake could be caused by volcanic activity from the same fault as Krakatoa, and another major Krakatoa like event could occur sometime in the near future causing even more devastation. I have a theory that increased solar activity from the Sun excites the earth's core causing more tectonic activity, but it is only a theory. Since there are over 75,000 volcanoes on the planet earth and other major tectonic problems, more than likely the United States Government and other world governments and agencies are well aware of the geological nature of the planet and its risks, but unfortunately the human species is best adapted to this planet. I suppose the old conventional history and wisdom in the sub continent knows the historical nature of the area, but as Eastern and Western cultures intermingle different priorities seem to come to the forefront. Whatever, the case, I am tired, and I will now shut down the computer, and I will go to bed soon. BBC NEWS | Asia-Pacific | Asia earthquake toll still rising . CIO

Note: <888> 12/28/04 Tuesday 11:55 P.M.: I went out after the last message. I found a nice Danish maple wooden chair with red leather seat that someone had left by our building dumpster. I put it in the back of my Volvo. I then went by the Greenwich Library. I next went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area. I stopped by Zyn stationary during my walk to pick up a couple of books of matches to have available, which I put in the side map holder of my Volvo's driver's door. During my walk, I sat out at various locations. I drove down by the waterfront. I then went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop, and I left the chair by their front entrance. Note: <888> 12/28/04 Tuesday 6:50 P.M.: I put the last of the green beans, an individual serving of broccoli, and six medium mushrooms in the five inch diameter by four inch high microwave proof plastic pot, and I added 1.5 inches of water, and I put the lid on, and I heated it on the vegetable cycle three times in the General Electric microwave oven. I drained it, and I put the vegetables in a large soup bowl, and I added three pads of margarine and a couple of teaspoons of olive oil. I also took the remaining inch thick piece of prime rib beef roast, and I put it on a microwave proof dinner plate along with the remaining Grey Owl Canadian Lake wild rice, and I put the microwave cover on the plate, and I heated it for three minutes on medium heat power level 5. The reason it was in Huntsville, Alabama is because Senator John Sparkman of Alabama was a long time serving senator in the United States congress for over 50 years, and being one of the senior senators, he put the research facility in Alabama. Also it was near the Tennessee River which has over a dozen hydroelectric dams as part of the Tennessee Valley Authority TVA which at the time had the cheapest electricity in the United States of America. However, Henry Ford's www.ford.com planned city at Muscle Shoals, Alabama: Main-Homepage never took off, when I last visited it around 1958, it was just streets and curb stones that were laid out in the 1920s, but no one ever wanted to move there. Note: <888> 12/27/04 Monday 9:35 P.M.: I went out after the last message. I went by the Arnold Bread outlet, and I bought a fresh loaf of Arnold multigrain bread for $2.27. The last two times I went there, they were out of Arnold croutons. I then drove down by the waterfront on Steamboat Road. I chatted with a visitor from London, and the visitor had a digital camera and was interested in our waterfront. I pointed out the sites. The visitor looked like a safe enough individual, and he bore a family resemblance to a famous British citizen, so I offered to show him around our waterfront. I drove him along our waterfront through Bruce Park, and then along the waterfront along River Road in Cos Cob and after I crossed the Mianus River bridge on U.S. 1, I turned left, and I drove through a local neighborhood in Riverside, and then I drove through Old Greenwich, and I drove the visitor out to Tod's Point. The visitor had a digital camera, and he photographed the New York skyline which was visible on a clear day. We walked out to the southwest picnic area, and I showed the visitor more of Long Island Sound. I then showed him the southeast beach area and the view to the east. We then drove back to the center of town, and I showed the visitor the Greenwich Country Club, since the visitor was wearing a sports jacket. I noticed they have torn down the Old Squash and Racquet ball courts, and they are building some sort of new facility. I then returned to the Greenwich Train Station, and I dropped the visitor off. The visitor is staying in Manhattan. He seemed to know quite a bit about computers. I then walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area. The visitor had left the train station. I went by CVS, and I then walked back down Greenwich Avenue to the ATM machine at Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Greenwich Avenue. I then returned back to CVS, and all of their Christmas merchandise is 50% off. I bought the last five Holiday gift packs containing one ten ounce can of Planter's www.planters.com Deluxe mixed nuts and one ten ounce can of Planters Jumbo cashews for half price for $2.99 each gift pack of two cans, and three buy one get one free of Advil 50 count tablets for $4.99 for a 100 tablets total, and a 14 ounce bag of M&M red and green candied peanuts for $1.49 less a $4 off coupon when I bought over $30 of merchandise for $27.41 total. I then completed my walk, and I used the bathroom at the senior and the arts center. I next went by the Greenwich Library, and I read the Greenwich Time. Note: <888> 12/24/04 Friday 10:45 P.M.: I went downtown after the last message. I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area. During my walk, I stopped by CVS, and I bought a 9.75 ounce can of Planter's Deluxe cashew nuts for $2.99. I completed my walk. I then drove down by the waterfront. I was told by another resident on Steamboat Road that the electricity was turned back on Steamboat Road at 10 P.M. on this past Thursday night. I then went by the Exxon gasoline station next to the Greenwich Library, and I bought $9 of premium unleaded gasoline at $2.399 a gallon for 14.6 miles per gallon usage driving at an average of 12 miles per hour. I only drove 35 miles since I filled up the tank on this past Tuesday, but when I filled up the tank on Tuesday, I used the middle self serve pump at Exxon station which never works properly and cuts off too soon, which means when I filled up this evening at the self serve pump on the east side of the three pumps, I was able to fill up the Volvo completely as usual. The middle pump cuts off too soon, and it has been that way for over a year, but I guess with the increased cost of gasoline prices, Exxon can not afford to fix it. They obviously know its broken. The Exxon gasoline station next to the Greenwich Library is one of those vintage 1950s Art Deco Standard Oil gasoline stations that once were very common around America. Both the Food Emporium and the Stop and Shop were closed. I returned to the center of town, and I chatted with another citizen. I then walked lower Greenwich Avenue and the train station area. Since on Christmas Eve, it was not too busy, there were a lot of night time places closed. I used the bathroom at the Greenwich Avenue movie theatre. The movie theatre at the Greenwich railroad station is undergoing renovation. I then returned to my Volvo, and I returned home. I had a notification from FedEx www.fedex.com that they had tried to deliver the package from www.newegg.com , but I was not here, so they will try to deliver it on Monday. I guess I will have to stay around on Monday until they deliver it, or I can leave the notification on Monday signed, and they will leave it at the front outside door, which I would rather not do. I can not use the wireless receiver until I receive the wireless router anyway. I chatted with a relative. CIO
Note: <888> 12/24/04 Friday 4:35 P.M.: I made and ate my usual salad www.geocities.com/mikelscott/salad.htm . For the cheddar cheese portion, I used www.cabotcheese.com Vermont extra sharp cheddar cheese. I used all of the other regular ingredients. I ate the salad with a glass of iced tea. I will now shut down the computer, and I will clean up, and I will go out for a walk downtown. CIO
Note: <888> 12/24/04 Friday 3:05 P.M.: One of the four sconce lights above the dining room table burned out, and I did not have an individual spare one, so I replaced all four with Philips www.philips.com Dura Max clear 15 watt bent tip bulbs. I put the three used ones back in the bulb drawer in the mahogany bureau in the bedroom. CIO
Note: <888> 12/24/04 Friday 2:25 P.M.: I was up at 6 A.M.. I ate breakfast of oatmeal with a sliced banana, toast with grape jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I went back to bed until 10 A.M.. I chatted with a friend. I did my house cleaning and watering the plants. I also took down the Saudi Arabian flag from the center hallway bookcase, since I do not think they would be around this time of year, and it will make the apartment look more Christmas festive with the items in the center hallway bookcase displayed. I also unlocked the lower cabinet on the center hallway bookcase which contains the Red Cross emergency supplies. I also turned up the apartment living room thermostat from 76 degrees Fahrenheit to 78 degrees Fahrenheit, so it is now about 73 degrees Fahrenheit in the apartment. I will leave it at the warmer temperature through out the weekend before I turn it back down two degrees Fahrenheit. Since the Saudi Arabian flag symbolized how much energy we consume here, I will also put it back up after New Years, if I remember. I also threw out the garbage. I am now cleaning the apartment with white vinegar in a spray bottle instead of orange cleaner spray. I also put the larger antique type chair in the kitchen at my primary eating place at the dining room table, and I moved the small oak chair from the dining room table to the kitchen with the cushion and quilted back cushion and a blue towel over the seat cushion. I have the chair at the dining room table slightly tiled back, so it can be pushed in further. I think it is mahogany, and it has a colonial design on it part of which is chipped off. I found it discarded on Greenwich Avenue at Best and Company during the 20 degree Fahrenheit morning I was walking around last week. CIO

Note: <888> 12/23/04 Thursday 8:55 P.M.: I microwaved a Celeste 6.65 ounce frozen deluxe pizza, and I also microwaved a Banquet 7 ounce chicken pot pie which I took out of the aluminum pan, and I put in a plastic microwave proof 1.75 inch high pot that I slipped into the Stouffer's chicken pot pie box with microwave browning paper on top, and I microwaved it all for 8 minutes on temperature setting medium or 5. I ate it all with a glass of iced tea. My www.newegg.com Fedex www.fedex.com order is suppose to arrive Monday December 27, 2004 by 4:30 P.M.. My www.compusa.com order probably takes longer because CompUSA is supposedly owned by a Saudi Arabian front company in Mexico, and since the Mexicans are never in a rush and have a "manyana" outlook on life, once Pablo gets his donkey out back of the office in Mexico and processes the order, and ships it via some yet unknown delivery method, it will arrive here in a little less than 2 weeks. The AT&T wireless router is made in Taiwan, so perhaps they have to drop ship their orders from Taiwan. Whatever the case, it will come in handy, if I ever have to run a small office here for a few users to use my high speed cable modem with their wireless laptops. Since I tend to be a very private individual in a retirement home of private older people, more than likely any individual with a wireless laptop trying to use the system would have access to my apartment from knowing me. I have a few friends and family that have a broader number of contacts, but if they ever visited, they might need to sit around on the comfortable furniture in my apartment and surf the internet, since on my limited budget in Greenwich, there is not much else to do. Of course since I have four computers in the apartment connected to the internet through LAN cables, and since I also threw out three computers and four monitors recently, I am currently NOT in need of a wireless laptop, but I have seen a great many travelers wandering around this area with them, so perhaps, someone that I know might be able to afford to use one. Whatever the case, this time of year, my apartment tends to be cooler and damper, so I can not guarantee a visitor the creature comforts that they might expect at home in my 450 square foot apartment. However, a great many New York metropolitan residents maintain simple small Pied A Terre apartments, and many times I have seen larger groups crowd into small apartments. However since I have a lot of electronics in the apartment, I do not try to entertain in the apartment, because I do not want the electronic systems to be disturbed. I maintain my apartment more like a user friendly home apartment office. It has taken 16 years at this particular location to build up to this level communications within my current setup in the apartment. Since most people in this town rely on the wider communications networks, I do not think many people actually pay much attention to my log on my work and lifestyle and house keeping routines. CIO
Note: <888> 12/23/04 Thursday 7:05 P.M.: I went out after the last message. I went by Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street. I then went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop. They will not be opened tomorrow. I then went to my 3 P.M. appointment which was running a half hour late. I next went by the Greenwich Library. I read the Greenwich Time. One long time library user apparently moved back to Wisconsin. I chatted with a Netherlands resident living here about the Dutch in America. I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I chatted with a former neighbor from Steamboat Road, and the electricity is apparently out on Steamboat Road around 5 P.M.. I bought a Hotel Style Beef Rib roast at $4.99 a pound on sale for $4 a pound off for $30.44, two 10.5 ounce cans of Campbell's mushroom gravy for .99 both, a 10 ounce box of fresh mushrooms for $2, a 6 ounce box of Grey Owl Canadian Lake Wild Rice 100% Naturally Grown Lake and River Wild Rice for $3.99, fresh green beans at .99 a pound for .99, four half gallons of Florida Natural orange juice with calcium for $2.50 each for $48.47 total. I had the butcher cut the roast into a 2.60 pound section and a 3.5 pound section. I then returned home, and I drank some iced tea. I put my groceries away, and I wrapped the 3.5 pound section of the roast which was already wrapped in plastic wrap, and I put four plastic bags around it, and I tied them with plastic wire ties, and I put it in the freezer to save until some future date. I will use the 2.60 pound section on Christmas Day for my Christmas dinner along with the other ingredients. I chatted with a relative. CIO
Note: <888> 12/23/04 Thursday 12:45 P.M.: I picked up my mail downstairs. I took the two remaining salmon cakes, and I put three tablespoons of olive oil in a eight inch diameter frying pan along with two pads of margarine, and I heated it over medium high electric heat, until it started to bubble, and I added the salmon cakes, and I reduced the electric burner heat to medium, and I cooked them 4.5 minutes per side. I reheated in the microwave oven the rice and baby peas left over from yesterday. I ate it all with a glass of iced tea. I will now shut down the computer, and I will clean up, and I will go out. I have a 3 P.M. appointment today. CIO
Note: <888> 12/23/04 Thursday 11:40 A.M.: I made up a list of my Nikai/Osaka made in China Super Touch Panel Caller ID Phone MT-1019 with super touch panel memory speed dial telephone numbers with numbers by each number, so one can easily find them on the LCD panel of the phone by pressing "Save" and then scrolling through the different saved telephone numbers with the up or down buttons. Once one has dialed or selected a long distance telephone number, one can just press "IP1", and the phone dials my Net2Phone Port Chester, New York access number and enters the account number and PIN number and dials the selected telephone number for 3.9 cents a minutes domestically and in Canada. If one knows the number of the saved memory telephone number, it is easier to find by number from the list. There are 30 saved telephone numbers on the list. One can dial an access number on it manually, but that takes a lot of buttons, so the dedicated "IP1" number for my account works better and is faster. I still have over $15 on the account, and I can recharge it over the internet with my debit card, when funds get low. Also on the Nikai/Osaka telephone, one does NOT press the "Delete" button for three seconds, or one will delete all the Memory Saved telephone number, which would happen too if one removed the batteries too. I chatted with a friend. CIO
Note: <888> 12/23/04 Thursday 9:35 A.M.: I chatted with a friend. When I travel down to Florida on January 5 and return on January 12, my friend is going to give me a ride to the LaGuardia airport and pick my up at the LaGuardia airport on my return thus I will not have to deal with the larger crowds in Manhattan in getting to the airport. CIO
Note: <888> 12/23/04 Thursday 9:10 A.M.: I ate the last 2.5 ounces of Planter's Deluxe cashew nuts and two black licorice sticks. Well on a rainy day in Greenwich, Connecticut Weather Underground: Greenwich, Connecticut Forecast although it is warmer today not much is really going on. The regular crowd whom do not like spending money because they are thrifty Yankees are probably sitting in the Greenwich Library Welcome to the Greenwich Library where it does not cost money to enjoy their services and enjoy their warmer environment, but for the automobile drivers, it does cost money to drive there. Lots of wives leave their husbands there while they shop downtown and another group of people having their cars repaired at the nearby automobile dealerships also use the library while their cars are being repaired. For a great many of the regular walkers or travelers in town, the library is part of their regular walking routine to see what is going on and gossip. It is my viewpoint, that a certain group whom does not really pay for the services of the Greenwich Library through local taxes tends to over use the library facilities, since they come from neighboring towns, which do not have such extensive library facilities, but they do pay automobile taxes on gasoline to travel here. Since they can afford to live in this area, and since they can afford to travel in this area, although they may or may not work in this area, they obviously enjoy a higher standard of living in their nearby environments, so possibly they are working the town of Greenwich, Connecticut Welcome to the official Town of Greenwich Connecticut Web site in order to sell the less expensive goods and services in other neighboring towns which might be more expensive in Greenwich, Connecticut. Since nobody ever calls me up on a local basis, it would seem to me, they all know that I can afford to partake in their higher standard of living as it relates to the town of Greenwich. Thus by staying home, I save money, but I do have a 3 P.M. appointment today. CIO
Note: <888> 12/23/04 Thursday 8:15 A.M.: My www.newegg.com order from yesterday, shipped via www.fedex.com from Edison, New Jersey yesterday at 2:30 P.M., and it left the FedEx origin location in Edison, New Jersey at 9:08 P.M. yesterday, so www.newegg.com is a local vendor in this area with very good prices. The www.compusa.com order from two days ago is still waiting to be processed, so CompUSA takes longer for their internet orders up to 10 days or more according to their billing information. CIO
Note: <888> 12/23/04 Thursday 7:55 A.M.: The Nikai/Osaka made in China Super Touch Panel Caller ID Phone MT-1019 with super touch panel that I bought at Walgreen's www.walgreens.com in Old Greenwich last week for $10 is like this Nikai-Osaka QL-800 Super Touch Panel Phone with Radio , but it does not have the radio feature. It works quite well, once one figures out how to program it. They have a $10 mail in rebate on the Atomic Clock weather panels this week, but I can live without one. I just checked with Walgreens at 203-637-1029, and they still have lots of the Nikai/Osaka made in China Super Touch Panel Caller ID Phone MT-1019 with super touch panel telephones at the front of their store in Old Greenwich, Connecticut for $10. It is about the best bargain I have found on a new item on sale for Christmas this year. Of course one has to figure out how to program it. CIO
Note: <888> 12/23/04 Thursday 7:10 A.M.: Before going to bed, I chatted with a relative, and I programmed the IP1 button on the Nikai/Osaka made in China Super Touch Panel Caller ID Phone MT-1019 with super touch panel. I programmed the IP1 button by entering the Port Chester, New York Net2Phone access number, then 10 pauses, then my Net2Phone account number, the 10 pauses, then my Net2Phone PIN number, and then I save it all. One uses the IP1 button by entering the long distance telephone number one wants to call or selecting one from the memory feature by selecting Save and then scrolling up or down to the specific number, then one presses IP1, and the telephone dials Net2Phone's local access number, enters the account and PIN number, and then dials the long distance telephone number. For the local access number of Net2Phone Net2Phone - Net2Phone Direct Calling Card - U.S. Access Numbers , they charge 3.9 cents a minute for domestic telephone calls including Canada all the time. The rates are slightly higher for overseas telephone call like London, England, where they supposedly also speak English for 4.9 cents a minute. Of course one also has to have funds in one's Net2Phone telephone account number. I went to bed about 10 P.M.. I was up at 5 P.M., and I ate breakfast of oatmeal with a sliced banana, toast with grape jam, orange juice with vitamins and supplements, and a cup of coffee. I went outside, and I threw out the garbage, and I also chatted with a neighbor. CIO

Note: <888> 12/22/04 Wednesday 5:25 P.M.: I am doing some regular computer work. I took my CVS Ear Wax Removal System ear drops, and since I am a bigger person instead of the recommended 10 drops, I put in 22 drops in one ear at a time, and then I held my head sideways for 10 minutes timing it with a egg timer and watching television making sure the ear drops stay in my ear working them pressing on the ear a bit, and then I used the CVS ear rubber ball type syringe, and I filled it with hot water that I put in the sink, and I rinsed out the ear with a full ear syringe a half dozen times, and a lot of ear wax came out of each ear. I did this one ear at a time. I can now hear much better. CIO
Note: <888> 12/22/04 Wednesday 3:45 P.M.: I put Vice President Dick and Lynne Cheney's Holiday Greetings letters in one of the two spare clear Plexiglas frames, and I hung it with a OOK nail on the wall to the right of the primary computer underneath my maternal grandfather Boven's portrait. CIO
Note: <888> 12/22/04 Wednesday 3:20 P.M.: I opened a 14.75 ounce can of Bumble Bee Alaska King salmon, and I left the lid on, and I rinsed it underneath cold water. I then drained it with the lid on it. I then emptied the salmon onto a plate, and I picked through it looking for any bones. I then put it in the Cuisine Art food processor, and I added a 1/8th of a teaspoon of Old Bay Seasoning, a teaspoon of dried parsley, a few dashes of ground black pepper, a few dashes of celery salt, and a half teaspoon of Italian seasoning, a half of a cup of Arnold large cut sour dough croutons, and one large fresh egg. I then blended the ingredients in the food processor, until they were all evenly mixed together. I then used a large tablespoon, and I scooped out four even size patties building them on a plate. I refrigerated two in a Rubbermaid container. I then heated over medium high electric heat in a 8 inch skilled three tablespoons of olive oil and two pads of margarine. Once the fat began to bubble, I added the two salmon patties, and I lowered the electric heat to medium, and I cooked them 4.5 minutes per side. I also made up a batch of rice the usual way in the China Village rice steamer. I also reheated in the microwave oven in a microwave proof plastic pot with lid half of a 15 ounce can of Le Sueur baby green peas with half of its water, and I refrigerated the other half in a small Rubbermaid container. I put the salmon patties on a dinner plate with half of the rice, and the other half of the rice I refrigerated in a Rubbermaid container. I put the drained heated peas in a bowl, and I ate a little bit of olive oil. I ate the salmon patties, rice, and baby green peas for dinner with a glass of iced tea. I read on the internet that people over 50 years of age which includes me are now allow to get flu shots, so I will have to look into getting one. CIO

Note: <888> 12/22/04 Wednesday 1:35 P.M.: I went out after the last message, and I went downtown. I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area. I sat out at various locations. During my walk, I stopped by CVS, and I bought two 7 ounce boxes of Gold Emblem cheese crackers for .99 each and a 7 ounce bag of black licorice twists for $1.19 plus .07 tax for $3.24 total. I then completed my walk. I used the bathroom at the senior and the arts center. I went by Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street. I then drove over to Old Greenwich, and I got my hair cut at The Haircut Place for $18 plus $5 tip for $23 total. I then walked over to the Second Congregational church Old Greenwich Rummage Room thrift shop, and everything is half price. I bought a 14 inch diameter and three inches thick round blue and white chair cushion for $2 plus .12 tax for $2.12 total. I then toured the Old Greenwich CVS store. I then drove out to Tod's Point, and I sat out at the southwest parking area enjoying the view. There was a large plume of smoke coming from the direction of Rye, New York rising up into the sky several hundred feet, so maybe there was a fire over there. I then drove back to central Greenwich, and I went to the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop, and I bought a 20 inch square quilted mainly white color pillow cover for $2.50, a dark green wooden 8" X 10" picture frame for $1, and a medium dark oak 8" X 10" picture frame for $1.50 for $5 total. Everything is half price at the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop. I then returned home, and I picked up my mail. I drank some iced tea. I put the round chair cushion on the blue bent oak chair at the dining room table. I put the back cushion on the chair in the kitchen down on the seat with blue towel on it, and I slid the quilted pillow case on the back of the chair, so it is not cushioned, but it looks nice. I was going to try to put the chair back cushion inside of the pillow case on the back, but it will not fit. I took out the picture of Queen Elizabeth II with President Bush and Laura Bush from the Plexiglas frame, and I put the picture in the dark green wooden frame, and I rehung it in the same place above the French reproduction chair by the hallway entrance. At that same location, I took out the picture of John D. Rockefeller and the seperate picture of Queen Beatrice of the Netherlands, and I put both pictures in side by side in the medium dark oak frame, and I rehung it in its same location. I put the two spare Plexiglas picture frames in the bedroom window on its shelf. CIO

I have my other printers on the primary computer connected via USB cables, so I could leave the AT&T 6850G 108Mbps 802.11g Wireless Router - CompUSA.com connected all the time, and only switch to the Siemens router, when I need to print from the backup computers. Note: <888> 12/21/04 Tuesday 3:25 P.M.: I ordered this item from www.compusa.com . It is a AT&T 6850G 108Mbps 802.11g Wireless Router - CompUSA.com which at the store is normally $69.99, but an online order had a $37 instant rebate fro $32.99 plus I ordered two day shipping for $8.50 instead of $5 ground shipping, and it had about $2.49 tax for $43.98 total. The order receipt says it takes 7 to 10 days to ship. I do not have this yet AT&T 6550G 108Mbps 802.11g Wireless PCI Adapter - CompUSA.com or AT&T 6750G 108Mbps 802.11g Wireless Notebook Adapter - CompUSA.com, and at the moment I do not have the available funds to order either. I probably do not need it though since I have my desktop personal computers connected via the Siemens router and LAN cables. However, at the rebate price for the AT&T wireless router, I will have it available to use with a wireless laptop if I ever get one, or someone else needs to use one in my apartment. I do not know whether one can connect the AT&T wireless router to the Siemens router, or one has to connect it directly to the Motorola cable modem, but it would be simple enough to change the cable from the cable modem, since it is directly to the right of the computer chair. It is a very good price for the latest technology. CIO

I then went downtown, and I mailed at the central Greenwich Post Office the photo copies of my Volvo registration and title to a relative and my Northeast Utilities electricity payment and my Connecticut Department of Motors Vehicles registration renewal on the Volvo and the emissions. I then walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area. I sat out at various locations. During my walk, I stopped by CVS, and I bought a 9.75 ounce can of Planters deluxe whole cashews for $2.99. After my walk, I used one of the snow brushes in the back seat floor of my Volvo to clean off the snow from the benches by the veterans monument and in front of the senior center. I next went by the Greenwich Library, and I read the Greenwich Time. I then went by the Exxon gasoline station next to the Greenwich Library, and I bought $12 of premium unleaded gasoline for $2.399 a gallon for 13 miles per gallon usage driving an average of 14.6 miles per hour. I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought a 10 ounce bag of fresh spinach for $1.99, a 3 pound bag of yellow onions for $1.99, and four Campbell's 18.8 ounce dented cans of soup for .35 each for $5.38 total. One of the soups is Salisbury steak, one is burger bits, and two are chicken noodle. I then returned home, and I brought up my purchases in two trips. I then picked up my mail. I received in the mail a Christmas letter from Vice President Cheney. I then drank some iced tea. I then chatted with a couple of relatives, and the one relative received the Volvo title and registration that I sent by Outlook Express email. Something must be wrong with my Outlook 2003 email settings. I then took the family picture off the Dell backup computer, and I put it on top of the left primary computer monitor. I put the Ethernet network router from on top of the Dell backup computer, and I put it on the desk in front of it with the LAN cables facing up, and the lights down. I then put the HP Photo Smart 1000 printer on top of the Dell backup computer lengthwise. I then connected its parallel cable to the B port on my port box to the right of the primary computer connected to the Siemens port. I then connected a 10 foot USB cable from the HP Photo Smart 1000 printer to one of my USB hubs to the right of the primary computer CPU. I booted up the primary computer, and I downloaded the HP Windows XP printer drivers and a photo editing program. I then installed the HP drivers for the USB port, and it showed the HP printer color and black cartridges are two thirds full. I then printed out some test pages, and it works just fine. I cleaned and aligned the cartridge with the utilities. I then install the HP printer to the Siemens LPT port, and it only works that way if one has the USB cable unplugged from the back of the HP printer. However to use the USB cable, one can still have the LPT Siemens port connected. The HP printer utility gives one the option of selecting which port. It is available from a tray icon. I then installed the HP Image Zone express program. It came up with a picture of Prince William and Princess Maxima of the Netherlands that I had save on my computer, so I printed it out in 3.5 inches by 5 inches in color on the HP printer, and it came out just fine. I put it in the picture frame that held the old Paris post card by my apartment door. I then printed out a picture of Queen Beatrice of the Netherlands about 4.5 inches by 6 inches, and I cropped the paper, and I put it in the clear Plexiglas frame along side the picture of John D. Rockefeller hanging above the French antique reproduction chair with the sheep skin. I then printed out in 8 inches by 10 inches in black and white this years' Christmas picture of Prince Charles and Prince William and Prince Harry, and it is bit fuzzy since the original download was much smaller. I then went downstairs, and I got another one of my clear Plexiglas frames, that I had used for an elevator sign, which is not needed, and I put the picture of Prince Charles and sons in it, and I hung it above the apartment entrance door to the left of the picture of Howard Hughes with the Spruce Goose. The HP Photo Smart 1000 printer was made in 1999, so it is probably 4.5 years old, but it was probably a $250 plus inkjet printer in its time. It works very well. It has a lot of other features such as photo memory card readers and a separate tray for photo paper. I did not get the instructions with it, but it seems to work very well. The extra color ink cartridge that came with it will not work with it. I will do some research on the ink cartridges some time in the future, when I have some time. It is a very good back up inkjet printer, considering my Epson Stylus Color 880 is three years old, but I still have two spare black and two spare color cartridges for it. http://xtremetoner.com/ says that a black cartridge for the HP costs $15.50 and a color cartridge for it costs $23.95, and the HP51649A spare color cartridge that came with it is for the DeskJet 600 series, so it won't work. This links shows them for $12.95 and $17.95 respectively HP PhotoSmart 1100 Cartridges from The Printer Ink Warehouse - The BEST choice for HP PhotoSmart 1100 Cartridges . Of course the HP Photo Smart 1000 is still my backup inkjet printer, so I will probably not be using it much unless something happens to the Epson Stylus Color 880 inkjet printer. I also spent $1.50 downtown parking today. CIO
Note: <888> 12/20/04 Monday 11:55 A.M.: I have not received a reply on the email yet, so I will send to the relative two copies of the Volvo title and registration via the United States post office. I microwaved and ate a 18.8 ounce can of Campbell's New England clam chowder, which I put a handful of croutons with. I ate it with a glass of iced tea. I have a 4 P.M. appointment today. It is currently 12 degrees Fahrenheit Weather Underground: Greenwich, Connecticut Forecast . I checked the mail downstairs, and it has not arrived. It is plenty comfortable in my apartment. I will now shut down the computer, and I will shower and clean up, and I will then go out for some outside activity. I will dress warmly, but I am not sure that I will walk Greenwich Avenue or not depending how I feel. CIO
Note: <888> 12/20/04 Monday 10:35 A.M.: I felt a heat flash or a little bit faint, so I lied down on the green sofa for a while. I chatted with a relative. I just resent twice with Outlook Express instead of Outlook 2003 the Volvo title and registration that I sent three times before with Outlook 2003. Perhaps there is something wrong with my Outlook 2003 settings. CIO
Note: <888> 12/20/04 Monday 9:30 A.M.: I checked downstairs briefly, and I chatted with a neighbor. I transferred my updated directory to the Dell backup computer and some other files. I made out checks to pay my Northeast Utilities bill www.cl-p.com and my Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles registration and emissions tax of $85. I will now put the tea in the refrigerator. CIO
Note: <888> 12/20/04 Monday 8:05 A.M.: I turned on the two DeLonghi oil filled radiators in the living room to medium and temperature setting four to provide a little extra heat in my apartment living room. I am making up a fresh batch of www.geocities.com/mikelscott/icetea.htm . Yesterday when my guest was here, I gave him the Bedford, New York court house trivet, since he was raised in Bedford, New York although he no longer lives there. Also I gave him the set of new snow and ice tire cables, since they do not fit on my Volvo, and my guest frequently visits Vermont where he has relatives whom might be able to use them. CIO

I went back to bed until 6 P.M.. I watched part of a movie with Randolph Scott. I checked outside, and there was a couple of inches of snow so far. I heard the snow plow outside about 3 A.M. this morning. Local weather is cold at 10 degrees Fahrenheit Weather Underground: Greenwich, Connecticut Forecast , so it is a bit cold outside at the moment. I also added this page Michael Louis Scott's Short Online Shopping List to my interactive directory which might be easier to use than Michael Louis Scott's Online Shopping List , and I linked both from the homepage. Note: <888> 12/19/04 Sunday 5:55 P.M.: I went outside briefly after the last message. The east of the building outside door lock is broken on the outside, so one can not enter the building from that side. My guest arrived at 2:30 P.M.. We chatted a while. We then went for a drive downtown and by the waterfront and returned back to my apartment, and we chatted some more. My guest just left. I will now shut down the computer, and I will go to bed. CIO
Note: <888> 12/19/04 Sunday 1:45 P.M.: I went out after the last message. I went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area. I sat out at various locations. I toured CVS. I next drove down by the waterfront. I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought a 16 ounce bag of baby carrots for $1.50, broccoli crowns at $1.79 a pound for $1.74, and a 10 ounce box of fresh mushrooms for $1.99 for $5.23 total. I so far on my Stop and Shop card have $585.20 savings year to date. On my CVS card, I have about $365 in savings year to date. I then returned home. I drank some iced tea. I chatted with a friend. The friend is coming down to visit in about an hour. I noticed at the Stop and Shop beef roasts are on sale, and the restaurant standing rib roast was off from $8.99 a pound for only $4.99 a pound, but it still would be over $20, and I don't eat that much meat anymore. CVS also has 9 ounce cans of deluxe Planters cashews for $2.99, in case you have to feed a parrot. CIO

Note: <888> 12/19/04 Sunday 5:25 A.M.: I made and drank a cup of coffee. For coffee now, I grind a 50% mixture of 8 O'clock hazelnut and decaffeinated coffee beans, and I brew it in my Krups espresso cappuccino machine with about 10 ounce of water, and I add milk. For large amounts, I would use my Bran coffee maker. I noticed when I was in the Food Emporium on Friday night that a roast beef is about $12.99 a pound, so a four pound roast beef would be over $50, so we do not eat such luxury items anymore, not to mention living by myself, I would not be able to consume it all before it went bad. It did look tempting however. If one is looking at food items in America, and one is not from here and not familiar with the food items available, I would not buy the Alpo www.alpo.com brand of foods, since although it would probably not hurt you, it is meant for pet or domestic animal consumption. I also updated with a few more links Michael Louis Scott's Online Shopping List . CIO
Note: <888> 12/19/04 Sunday 4:05 A.M.: I put away the laundry. I made and ate my usual salad www.geocities.com/mikelscott/salad.htm . I use a tin of sardines that I chopped instead of tuna fish. For the cheddar cheese portion, I used Cabot Cabot Cheese - award winning Vermont cheddar Monterey Jack cheese. I used all of the other regular ingredients. I ate the salad with a glass of iced tea. Note: <888> 12/18/04 Saturday 12:55 A.M.: I put three teaspoons of olive oil and three pads of margarine in my 10 inch omelet pan, and I heated it over medium high electric heat, and once the fat began to bubble, I lowered it to a little lower than medium. I had already broken three eggs in a metal bowl, and I added a couple of tablespoons of milk, and I mixed it altogether with a whisk. I added the egg mixture to the omelet pan, and I let it heat until it was solid enough to flip over. I then flipped it over with a spatula. I then let it heat a little more until that side was cooked a little bit and it was puffy. I then slid it on to a microwave proof plate, and I added two sliced plum tomatoes sliced into 3/16 inch thick slices and 12 slices of Vermont extra sharp cheddar cheese 1.25 inch by 1.25 inch square, and seasoned it with Italian seasoning, and I put it all in the microwave oven with a microwave cover, and I heated it on reheat for half of the normal cycle to melt the cheese and warm the tomatoes. I then put the microwave proof plate with the open face omelet on another plate, and I sprinkled it with grated parmesan cheese. I also added two slices of toast with two slices each of margarine, and I cut the toast in half. I ate it all with a glass of iced tea. CIO
Note: <888> 12/17/04 Friday 11:45 P.M.: I went out after the last message. I went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area. I sat out at various locations. I stopped CVS, and they are sold out of Hanes long underwear, but I have plenty of long underwear for myself. I used the bathroom at the senior and the arts center twice. I chatted with another citizen. I drove down by the waterfront. I then toured the Stop and Shop. I then went to the Food Emporium and used the bathroom, and I bought a 40 bag box of Salada green tea for $2.49. I just now returned home, and I drank some iced tea. CIO

Note: <888> 12/17/04 Friday 2:45 P.M.: I microwaved and ate a 18.8 ounce can of Campbell's split pea and ham soup with a glass of iced tea. I ran Norton Win Doctor 2003 and Ad-awareSE. I will now do my house cleaning and watering the plants. CIO
Note: <888> 12/17/04 Friday 2:15 P.M.: The send and receive feature of Microsoft Outlook 2003 quit working, so under the Help feature I ran the Microsoft Office 2003 repair feature, and it is now working just fine. CIO
Note: <888> 12/17/04 Friday 1:40 P.M.: I woke up during the night, and I ate a 10 ounce can of CVS smoked almonds. I was up at 6 A.M.. I ate breakfast of oatmeal, toast with grape jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I went back to bed until 10 A.M., when I chatted with a relative. The relatives that gave me my 1995 Volvo 850 Turbo station wagon needed copies of my registration and title since in Pennsylvania, it still showed up that they owned it. I went out to the car, and got the registration, and I scanned both the title and registration, and I emailed the scanned copies to my relative. I keep the title in my apartment in a hidden place. I made three copies each of the title and registration which I put in the metal file holder on the upright mahogany chest in the bedroom. I put the registration back in the Volvo. I then went out to Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street, and I did some banking business. I then returned home. I chatted with a relative. I washed my breakfast dishes, and I made my bed. Note: <888> 12/16/04 Thursday 9:10 P.M.: I did not fall asleep until about 9 A.M. this morning. I chatted with a friend and a relative. I woke up at 1 P.M.. I ate breakfast of oatmeal, toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I went out to my 3 P.M. appointment. I showed my 3 P.M. appointment the blank rifle cartridge that I found earlier this morning, and my 3 P.M. appointment said it was a blank. I put it back in the Yale cup when I returned home. I next went to the Greenwich Hospital thrift shop. They are short of staff, and they need someone to price the women's clothes that are stacking up in the back room. I then went downtown, and I walked up Greenwich Avenue, and I stopped by the Greenwich Hardware store, and I dropped of a prescription at CVS. I then walked up to the top of Greenwich Avenue, and I continued my walk after enjoying the view from the bench in front of the United States Trust Company, Morgan Stanley office, and the Chase bank of the Presbyterian Church in downtown Greenwich and whatever else is on Lafayette Place beside the Greenwich Hospital a block further north. I then walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area. I used the bathroom at the senior and the arts center. I then walked back up to CVS, and I picked up my prescription. I then used the bathroom at the senior and the arts center again. I found someone's eye glass lens that I left on the front table at the senior and the arts center. I then drove down by the waterfront. I next went by the Greenwich Library. Another patron hit the guard rail in the east parking lot, and I have kept telling the Greenwich Library for years, they need to put hard rubber bumpers on the guard rail to protect the patron's cars that hit it. They also should have higher more visible warning signs or markers, so individuals can see that it is there. I have seen at least a half dozen people over the years hit that guard rail. They also have put grey caulk into the sidewalk divide spaces and other areas around the east Library sidewalk which is still very wet, so individuals should be careful around there. Recently the Greenwich Time has not been available when I use the Greenwich Library, so I have not been able to read it. I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought Chiquita bananas at .69 a pound for $1.61. I bought the ones that were still a mixture of green and yellow color, so they will not be too ripe when I get around to using the last ones. I then returned home, and I chatted with a neighbor. I then microwaved and ate a 6.65 ounce Celeste deluxe frozen piazza, and a 7 ounce Banquet chicken pot pie which I microwave in a plastic microwave dish for 4 minutes in a Stouffer's chicken pot pie box with crisper paper. I ate it all with a glass of iced tea. I noticed that I have an interesting mold growing on the top of my balsamic vinegar bottle that I never use on the dining room table. I suppose I should throw it out, but it probably should be researched first to see if it is a variant of the penicillin mold that I found growing in my refrigerator a year ago. I did preserve a sample of that mold in my freezer in a bag of ice in a small Rubbermaid container. I also moved the third blue bent oak chair from the dining room table into the bedroom between the desk and the upright mahogany bureau, so there is more clearance room at the kitchen entrance. CIO
Note: <888> 12/16/04 Thursday 5:35 A.M.: I put a folded blue towel on the chair in the kitchen, so it will stay clean, since the cushion is white fabric, and I have my Krups coffee make on the counter above it, coffee might possibly spill on it at one time or another. I made and ate my usual salad www.geocities.com/mikelscott/salad.htm . For the cheddar cheese portion, I used Stop and Shop Vermont extra sharp cheddar cheese. I used all of the other regular ingredients. I ate the salad with a glass of iced tea. I will now shut down the computer, and I will go to bed soon. I have a 3 P.M. appointment today, so I will be up around noon. It is still a bit cold outside Weather Underground: Greenwich, Connecticut Forecast . CIO
Note: <888> 12/16/04 Thursday 3:45 A.M.: I went out after the last message. I went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area. I sat out at various locations. I found a discarded Chippendale type chair with white petit point cushion in front of Best and Company just north of the senior and arts center. I put it in the back of my Volvo. After I completed my walk, I drove down by the waterfront. While driving around the train station area, I noticed on the new pedestrian overpass that they are building, it looks like they are also going to install an elevator on either side. I also noticed that they are painting or striping the road at the I-95 intersection with Arch Street at Exit 4, so I guess the railroad overpass bridge work construction project is done at that location, but they still have to finish the platform area of the train station. While sitting at the bench at the north side of the veterans monument, I found what looked to be they same blank rifle cartridge on the ground that I found last night, and I turned into the Greenwich Police, so I picked it up, and I kept it this time. I next went by the Food Emporium, but the staff is there, but they have the store closed. I then went by Putnam Shell on West Putnam Avenue, and I chatted with the regular night person. He gave me one of their Norman Rockwell year 2005 calendars. I returned home, and I hung the calendar up on the back side of my apartment entrance door. I brought up the chair, and I took out the other chair from between the stove and hutch, and I put the new chair there. It is more comfortable to sit on when I smoke cigarettes by the kitchen stove fan. I put the back cushion from the other chair on the new chair. I then moved the regular bent oak chair that I sit on to eat to the left at the round oak dining table, and I put the chair from the kitchen which does not match the other dining chairs, but is much more comfortable with its cushion in my normal dining spot at the round oak table. Since I weigh 210 pounds the bent oak chairs with their hard wooden seats are a bit uncomfortable, so I will now be more comfortable sitting on the chair that I placed in my regular dining spot. It takes more time in the colder weather to dress up more comfortably and warm and to undress, but I was perfectly comfortable while I was outside tonight. It was not very busy out, but all the Christmas and Holiday lights are out on Greenwich Avenue along with the shop displays, so it looks very festive. I put the Pearl Harbor memorial day rifle shell blank casing in the Yale cup that I have on my right hallway bookcase. CIO
Note: <888> 12/15/04 Wednesday 11:55 P.M.: I reheated the vermicelli and tomato marinara sauce from last night, and I put on a thin layer of grated parmesan cheese. I ate it all with a glass of iced tea. I got rid of the humidifiers, since I have not used them in the last several years, since it does not get that dry in the apartment with the lesser amount of heat. Also the humidifiers put out lots of white chorine dust in the apartment which attaches itself to the electronics components in the apartment covering it with a dusty layer of white film which can effect the electronics. One can eliminate this by using the humidifier water filters which filter the chlorine and other particles out of the humidifier water, but the filters can be expensive if you can find them. I will now shut down the computer, and I will clean up and take a warm shower. I will then dress warmly, and I will go out downtown for my usual walk. CIO
Note: <888> 12/15/04 Wednesday 11:20 P.M.: As this story says with the additional demand on the heating systems during colder weather it is necessary to have an additional fire watch in the area in case anything goes wrong Greenwich Time - Winter makes an early appearance . CIO
Note: <888> 12/15/04 Wednesday 11:10 P.M.: Since it is currently 21 degrees Fahrenheit outside Weather Underground: Greenwich, Connecticut Forecast , I went to my cold weather option, and I turned on the two DeLonghi oil filled radiators to medium at temperature level 4, so they will provide a little extra warmth in the living room area. I do not turn the thermostat higher, since I do not like having the electric wall radiators too hot. Once the DeLonghi oil filled radiators heat up, there should be a more even heat in my apartment. Currently the temperature at the window ledge above the electric radiators is 71 degrees Fahrenheit, and it is 72 degrees Fahrenheit on the far side of the living room away from the radiators, and it is 65 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit in the bedroom, and the barometer says it is very dry, but I am not sure if that inside or outside, since the barometer is inside. At least in the colder dry weather, it is better for my arthritis. It still feel a bit damp inside though, but I am doing just fine, and I am stocked up on plenty of food, and the other necessities of life for maintaining the apartment. I also have plenty of winter clothing. I put the CD I have of "Midnight in Moscow" on the top of my CD rack. I had to move the brass and glass tables a bit to provide moveable air space around the DeLonghi oil filled radiators. Of course, I will have to pay for the additional electricity. I still have not paid my electricity bill this month, but I expect a Christmas gift check any day now, so I will pay my electricity bill when I receive that check. Having lived up north most of my life, I am use to the colder weather. However, I did read this story in the Greenwich Time www.greenwichtime.com that the Brazilians are cold, but although I know people from Brazil and Trans Brazilian airlines, if they are in this area, they never call me up. Of course, if Niagara Falls up on the Canadian border ever freezes which it occasionally does, we would have less electricity in this area, and currently we still have the older nuclear reactors in the area. I am still flying the Saudi Arabian flag in the apartment on the center hallway bookcase, since it symbolizes how much energy we use to live up here in the north country, although over 60% of the New York areas energy actually comes from Canada. When I go out, though I generally turn off the DeLonghi oil filled radiators, since although I have heavy extension cords on them, I do not think one should leave them running when not in the apartment because of the additional cost. CIO
Note: <888> 12/15/04 Wednesday 10:20 P.M.: I chatted with a relative. I did notice last night that the Indians from the north country might have come down here to visit, since it is a lot colder up north. I noticed one young Indian downtown at CVS, and he was wearing rubber flip flops for foot wear, but he lots of body fat. Of course, he might have been from Hawaii too. Frequently the people from Alaska go back and forth between Alaska and Hawaii. The native Alaskans and the native Polynesians have so much body fat, they tend not to notice the cold unlike the thin northern Europeans. I remember there use to be Polynesians from Hawaii working the Mobil gasoline station on the Merritt parkway in New Canaan, Connecticut when we had the cold winter in 1982, and it was down to minus 26 degrees below zero Fahrenheit. I found this link to the Texas Hill country Texas Hill Country Online - Visitor & Travel Guide and Maps of the Texas Hill Country , but I think that area is like the Appalachian mountains or the Ozarks, and they tend to be a very inbred group of locals whom do not trust outsiders. A relative there told me the temperature there is down to the mid teens Fahrenheit, so it is cold all over the country. I know it is down to freezing in Florida, and it is not yet winter. Of course when it gets cold up north, some of the wild game also tends to migrate further south into this region too. In the old days around the United States Navy in Key West, Florida, they use to play a song that said, "Don't Rock the Boat Baby." CIO
Note: <888> 12/15/04 Wednesday 9:50 P.M.: I washed the breakfast dishes, and I made my bed. I do know both the Hatfield and the McCoy families live in this area, so maybe they are still feuding. There also used to be a retired World War II veteran in this area that looked Buddy Epson the actor of the Beverly Hillbillies fame. The individual has since died, but he grew up on the local waterfront, and he use to caddy for John Davidson Rockefeller, who he said was really cheap and only paid him a dime a round. About the last thing that old time veteran told me when he use to hang out on the waterfront was, "There Ain't No More Kentucky Wind Anymore.", which when translated from the American vernacular English of the hill country is that with the modern laser sighted rifle scopes, people tend not to miss their targets. However, other factors like being on a boat which is always rocking, or the wind, or the fact over a distance that the earth curves, could still imply that there is still Kentucky wind these day. Kentucky wind means when they take a shot at you, and they just miss you, and there is a slight breeze as it goes by. Maybe there is some sort of granny character out there like in the Beverly Hillbillies. However, the Appalachian mountain region of Kentucky is not referred to as the "Hill Country". There is an area in Texas referred to as "The Texas Hill Country". I am not exactly sure where it is in Texas though. The last time I drove over to North Tarrytown, New York about seven years ago before Christmas time in my old white 1975 Volvo, I stopped by the minister's house at the Union Presbyterian Church, and I gave him $78 for the choir fund, which is all that I had on me at the time. When I returned to Greenwich, I saw a different group of people in Greenwich than usual, and the locals seem to have followed me down from North Tarrytown, New York. One individual looked a little bit like Wild Bill Hickcock. Of course if we are still having problems with the Indians, I would get a bit concerned if someone shows up looking like George Armstrong Custer. Of course from watching a lot of Sherlock Holmes on television over the years, frequently when something happens to a man, it is irate wife that is the source of the problem. CIO
Note: <888> 12/15/04 Wednesday 9:05 P.M.: I was up at 4 P.M., and UPS arrived and delivered my Hyundai Eisenhower light weight jacket from Danbury Hyundai. It fits just fine. I hung it in the left living room closet, and it will be useful in the spring and fall when it is warmer. It is currently 25 degrees Fahrenheit Weather Underground: Greenwich, Connecticut Forecast . I ate breakfast of oatmeal with a sliced banana, toast with grape jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I went back to bed until 8 P.M., and the television seems to have the usual programming that they provide when the children are home on Christmas vacation. I guess they are out earlier this year. I sent this message out to some concerned parties this morning before going to bed. The text of the message is as follows:
from Mike Scott, rifle cartridge found at veterans monument last night on Greenwich Avenue in Greenwich, Connecticut
This past midnight, I was sitting at the north bench at the veteran’s monument on a break from my usual walk having a cigarette, an on the ground at my feet, I found a two inch long by 3/8th inch diameter rifle casing with crimped head. I took it to the Greenwich Police, and they said it was a blank left over from the Pearl Harbor veterans ceremony. However, I do know that there is a casing like that holds a copper projectile, and I do know that it was not there on previous nights after the ceremony. I do know they had a Pearl Harbor ceremony, but I was not there, so I do not know if there was a 21 gun salute or not. However, it seems strange since I sit there every day, it was not there earlier.
Remember on a previous May evening about five years ago, when current President Bush was traveling through this area on the campaign before he was first elected, someone took a shot at me at Tod’s Point on the walk to the southwest picnic area. I looked into that myself, and thought it could have come from the Bell tower at Indian Harbor or someone on a sailboat in the harbor. I did notice on Steamboat Road at the Indian Harbor Yacht Club, and individual boarding the launch with a small bag of golf clubs which is unusual that could have held a rifle. My white Volvo was parked behind the bushes at Tod’s Point, so I was not associated with the Volvo, and there was a florescent orange target marker at the base of the tree where the bark was shot off of. At a distance, I could look a bit like Bush, but at the time I thought someone thought I might look like Donald Trump who would have enemies too. Also there is man from Harrison, New York in a black pickup truck or SUV van whom is a veteran and is also an Elk hunter in Canada, and he is always around the waterfront on Steamboat Road with his wife. Possibly it was his black pickup truck last Friday when my Volvo was moved. It is just a coincidence, it seems strange, and it should be a warning. Possibly we could have other VIPs in the area too. Stay warm; I am on a night schedule, about to go to bed. I probably will be going out at night again tonight.

End of Message:
My viewpoint about that incident five and a half years ago was with wealthy people in this area, they also have expensive toys, so possibly some youngster got into their father's gun cabinet and was practicing a little duck hunting. I have seen duck hunters around the waterfront during other holiday periods, and possibly some local family tries to bag a Long Island duck for their Christmas dinner. Of course it could be some Annie Oakley type whom is upset with the local men in general. CIO

Note: <888> 12/15/04 Wednesday 6:55 A.M.: If I am not mistaken, Winfield Scott ran for President of the United States of America on the Whig party against Zachary Taylor and lost, but he also had a falling out with the Whig party, and he started an alternative political party called the Democratic party. At one time in the early 1970s, there also were three United States senators at the same time in the United States senate with the last name Scott, one from Pennsylvania, one from Virginia, and one from North Carolina, so obviously the family has some political presence in the country today. Note: <888> 12/15/04 Wednesday 6:35 A.M.: Of course if anyone knows anything about polite society in Old New York, Lady Astor once built a ballroom in her house on Astor Place with a ballroom for 400 guests, which became known as the New York Society 400. I believe such established clubs as the Greenwich Country Club also have only 400 members, many of whom are from the original 400. Of course after hundreds of years, the 400 like the Mayflower society has greatly increased in numbers. The descendants of the Mayflower settlement in Plymouth, Massachusetts number over 20 million people. I have always worried that the number 400 might represent that the Europeans in New York, only had a 400 year lease on New Amsterdam founded in 1620, and in the year 2020, all of the Europeans would have to give back New Amsterdam to the Indians and return elsewhere, but I have never read that fact anywhere. Of course the New Amsterdam night watch is an honorary society of the founding families of New Amsterdam or New York, quite a few of them like my family which were Scottish or English and were not Dutch, and as seafaring families, they also included Norwegians. I am Dutch on my mother's side of the family named Boven that arrived here in America from the Netherlands in 1842 settling in the area that eventually became Holland, Michigan. However, there are still families in this area from the original founding families of New Amsterdam, and I have met a great many of them over the years. Also a Captain Scott, originally founded South Hampton, Long Island, and another Michael Scott owned all of Long Island until 1700, when he moved to Jamaica which was more profitable at the time due to the rum trade. Thus obviously the Scott family would have presence all over the east coast of the Americas in its inception, including the charter of Virginia. In 2007, we have the 400th anniversary of Virginia, so maybe someone down there will want to see me, since I am descended from Winfield Scott, the Virginia branch of the Scott family. Winfield Scott besides winning the war with Mexico, also was offered command of both the Union and the Confederate militaries during the Civil war, and since he was already in his 70s, he moved to Paris for the Civil war. He also helped start the United States Military academy at West Point www.usma.edu , and his town house is still in Manhattan just south of the Forbes building on west 13th street, and it is the Italian studies institute for New York University. He is buried at West Point. I believe he also participated in the French and Indian wars and the attempt to capture Quebec, and he more than likely was involved in the American revolution, but I have never read in what capacity. The Scott and Mason families at one time each owned half of the chartered state of Virginia, and Scott is the family name of the Marquis of Queensbury family in England. There are only two Marquis in England, and they are the highest rank of Nobility after the immediate British Royal family. Thus possibly the lesser sons of the Marquis of Queensbury were given land grants in various colonies of the British empire. CIO

Bacon, Jr. , of course nobody has ever heard of the name Nixon, and I suppose nobody knows the Peabody family in Massachusetts. Bink as we use to call him was raised in the house next to the Bobby Kennedy's in Hyannisport, Massachusetts, so more than likely he would know that family too. However, the last time I spoke with him was in Nantucket around 1976, and I was darkly tanned from having spent the summer outside, so maybe he thought I was Saudi Arabian. Of course I later would show up in Nantucket more tanned after my winter visits in Florida and California. Note: <888> 12/15/04 Wednesday 5:20 A.M.: Of course the colonization of North America by the Vikings, the Dutch, the French, and the English and the Scottish came after other countries in Europe such as Spain, Portugal, Italy, Belgium, France, and the Netherlands had set up colonies and trading relationships in other parts of the Americas, Africa, and Asia. Thus the British Royal family never really had too much money until Queen Victoria married Prince Albert of Belgium whom was King Leopold of Belgium's nephew. King Leopold was wealthy from the trade and colonization in the Belgium Congo. Queen Victoria's children and grandchildren married into the royal families of Russia, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Greece, and some other countries I forget now, thus they became established, so the various European royal families are not only linked through financial relationships but also birth. There is an old fashioned expression called "Robbing Peter to Pay Paul", which comes from the Christian church since Peter the apostle started the Christian Church and St. Paul was a tax collector before he changed to the Christian faith. Whatever the case, one should take whatever one's skill are, and try to make a living, because history is based on other people's experiences in other times, and currently the world is a much smaller and more complicated place, and the Asian economies are becoming more powerful. I was thinking recently, when container ships full of goods arrive from Asia, we should ship back container ships full of beer, so the Asians will have something in return for all of their hard work. The last time I was at Newark International airport about five years ago to drop off a friend for a flight to Florida, I noticed they still have one of the many Budweiser breweries near Port Elizabeth, New Jersey, so it is convenient to the container ships. I threw out some garbage, and I checked outside briefly. CIO
Note: <888> 12/15/04 Wednesday 4:50 A.M.: How this fits into today's political economy is that the Bush family were friends of the Rockefeller family, and they worked for the Harriman family, and the Harrimans were able to barrow money from Belmont who was an agent of the Rothschild family. In the book on the Harrimans, it said that the Harrimans took care of matters that the Rockefeller family did not or were not able to handle personally themselves. Alas if any Germans show up asking for their money back, I do not speak German, and I think the money has long since been invested all over this country. CIO
Note: <888> 12/15/04 Wednesday 4:25 A.M.: I put 3.5 quarts of water in a 5 quart Revere pot, and I brought it to a boil with the lid on over high electric burner heat. I also put in a teaspoon of olive oil and a couple of dashes of salt. I then boiled with the lid off a 16 ounce box of Stop and Shop vermicelli for six minutes. While doing this, I put half of a 26 ounce jar of Master Choice marinara sauce in a plastic microwave proof pot with lid, and I heated it on reheat. I drained the vermicelli in a colander, and I put half on a dinner plate and half in a Rubbermaid container in the refrigerator. I put the remaining half of the marinara sauce in the jar in the refrigerator. I put the heated sauce on the cooked vermicelli, and I added a thin layer of grated parmesan cheese. I ate it all with a glass of iced tea. I have lived here since 1962, but some people do not seem to realize the Scott family longevity in this area. However, two members of the Scott family had two of the first farms in the New Amsterdam colony in Manhattan, and also John Jay's mother was a Scott, and the Jay family inherited the Scott family properties in this area. However, the Jay homestead in Bedford, New York was sold by the family in the middle of the 20th century. Also my mother's Bovan family are descended from the same family that was once quite established in this area called Vanderbilt, since my mother's grandmother's maiden name was Vanvylabelt, which is the correct Dutch pronunciation of Vanderbilt which is anglicized. Also, in this area, the only established family that seems to command respect is the Rockefeller family, and since Colonel Tom Scott after the Civil War was president of the Pennsylvania railroad which prospered because they were able to barrow money from the Warburg family bank, which was able to barrow money from the Rothschild family bank, and the Rothschilds were able to barrow money from the Kaiser of Germany at a quarter of a percent interest. The Kaiser was of course able to raise and levy taxes. Tom Scott as president of the Pennsylvania railroad organized the Standard Oil Trust for John Davidson Rockefeller, and he gave John Davidson Rockefeller the monopoly on hauling oil out of the Midwest on the Pennsylvania Railroad, so John Davidson Rockefeller prospered. However, Tom Scott's telegraph operator was a young man named Andrew Carnegie, and Andrew Carnegie also prospered. However, Tom Scott went bankrupt about 1874, when there was a stock market turmoil, and neither John Davidson Rockefeller or Andrew Carnegie would help him out in the stock market. However, other members of the Scott family still prospered and the actor Randolph Scott was married to Pierre DuPont's only daughter Ruth DuPont Scott, and as the only child of Pierre DuPont, she inherited 25% of DuPont and 25% of General Motors. Thus I still have the Scott family name. Also Warren Buffet's original partner in Omaha, Nebraska was Chester Scott. My father's name was Louis Dale Scott and both he and my grandfather Clarence Scott were both from Champaign, Illinois, and my father as a corporate employee of a Rockefeller family company moved the family here to Greenwich, Connecticut in 1962. However, I can not hope to get lucky and marry a Rockefeller, since I am also already related to the Rockefeller family branch here. My father's mother was Elizabeth Gard Scott, and her mother's maiden name was Sinia Miller Clarence SCOTT/Mary Elizabeth Lizzie GARD , and her mother's maiden was Emmaline Handy Davidson William W GARD/Sinia MILLER and Daniel W GARD/Emmaline Handy DAVIDSON , so I am already related to the John Davidson Rockefeller family. I have met a few other members of the Davidson family in my life, and I attended Lake Forest College www.lfc.edu with a member of the Davidson family from Minnesota. Thus although I am personally very near sighted and awkward around equipment such as motorcycles, there might be other Davidson family members whom participate in the family company Harley-Davidson | Country Selector . However having the engineering skills which seem to run in many of these families might not also be the same skills it takes to lead a motorcycle group of riders or what ever groups use the products made by these skilled engineering families. Thus driving about 60 miles per hour, I helped clean out my Volvo's spark plugs and emissions system from when I normally drive more slowly all the time. I then finished my walk up Greenwich Avenue, and I walked back down Greenwich Avenue, and I used the ATM machine at the Greenwich Avenue branch of Putnam Trust Bank of New York. I then sat out at the north bench on the north side of the veterans monument, and I had a cigarette. I noticed something hard in the dirt, and I pried it out of the dirt. It was about a 1.75 inch long and 3/8th inch diameter brass rifle cartridge casing with a crimped head. I took it over to the desk at the Greenwich Police department about 200 feet away, and I gave it to them. They said it was a blank probably left over from the Pearl Harbor Day ceremony at the Veterans Monument. I could not tell whether it had been fired or not, but the tip was still crimped. Starbucks cleaning crew arrived at midnight. I then walked lower Greenwich Avenue. I next drove down by the waterfront. I then went by the Food Emporium, and although their staff is there, they were closed for a break, and I am not sure whether they are there or not. I also have my polar bear hat on the hat rack behind the apartment door. There are other baseball type hats on the inside of the bedroom door hanging above the entrance, and I also have a pair of heavy snow mittens and a pair of heavy leather gloves on the right side of the bedroom sideboard sitting on top of the spare cable modems. I have lots of winter clothing, so I am prepared to go outside after I shower and clean up. I then slid it on to a microwave proof plate, and I added a quarter of a pound of quarter inch thick sliced Danish plumrose ham and ten 3/32nds inch thick by 1.25 inch by 1.25 inch slices of Stop and Shop Vermont extra sharp cheddar cheese evenly spread over the open faced omelet, and I seasoned it with Italian seasoning, and I put it all in the microwave oven with a microwave cover, and I heated it on reheat for half of the normal cycle to melt the cheese and warm the ham. I then put the microwave proof plate with the open face omelet on another plate, and I sprinkled it with grated parmesan cheese. I also added two slices of toast with two slices each of margarine, and I cut the toast in half. I ate it all with a glass of iced tea. I will now get ready to go out. I am not sure if there is any warming effect off the Hudson River, when one is near it or not, such as we get near Long Island Sound. I suppose the cadets at the www.usma.edu are a little better protected from the elements, since they are on the west side of the river, but they are on a high bluff. For the cheddar cheese portion, I used Norwegian Jarlsberg cheese and Stop and Shop Vermont extra sharp cheddar cheese. I ate the salad with a glass of iced tea. I was thinking to save money, I could save my orange cleaner spray bottles which cost about $2 each for a quart of orange cleaner in a spray bottle at CVS, and I could reuse them with Master Choice white vinegar that costs $1.89 a gallon at the Food Emporium or $2.49 a gallon for Stop and Shop white vinegar. There are plenty of uses for inexpensive white vinegar The Vinegar Page and More Baking Soda and Vinegar Uses and Frugal Living . Of course one has to be able to afford to buy the vinegar and transport it back to one's home. Needless to say, I am doing just fine, since I am use to living on a frugal budget. I still think since I only watch the television when I have breakfast that I could save $54 a month on the Cablevision television bill, if I did not subscribe to it. However, usually when I discontinue Cablevision, something happens that I am interested in watching. However for a great many years I did not have cable television while I lived here, and I would sit in my old big comfortable leather reading chair underneath the brass pedestal lamp with Victorian lamp shade that I gave to a friend in Irvington, New York whom did not have a heating problem since he lived above a bakery, and I would read the Economist www.economist.com magazine which does a very good job on reporting on world events, but they are frequently a couple of weeks out of date, but they are very perceptive and insightful, and it is extremely well written. However, since I do not have the time to read it fully front page to back anymore since I have been on personal computers for 14 years, I guess I have missed out on their content. I also gave the friend from Minnesota in Irvington, New York the complete collection of Washington Irving's writings which I recall were about 24 volumes, since I had bought them at a church sale at the Episcopal Church in Tarrytown, New York for a few dollars. Note: <888> 12/13/04 Monday 12:55 A.M.: As I said in my notes last night, one should not believe everything one reads, such as Federal analysts forecast oil prices will remain around $30 a barrel - 12/12/04 . It is my personal viewpoint that with oil currently at $50 or more a barrel that with a colder winter and increased demand and more scarcity that oil could go to over a $100 a barrel. Thus at the higher price of oil alternative energy sources such as coal degasification would be much more profitable, and I suppose people would start looking into nuclear energy again. I remember in France about 13 years ago, I was paying over $8 a gallon for gasoline, but that was mostly due to French taxes. CIO

For the cheddar cheese portion, I used Norwegian Jarlsberg cheese. I ate the salad with a glass of iced tea. I commented to a customer at the Stop and Shop tonight from Florida whom was buying imported white vinegar that conceivably, one could make an imitation of balsamic vinegar by using about one part Lea and Perrins Worcestershire sauce and seven parts regular white vinegar, but I have not tried it. I think balsamic vinegar is made from red wine that is fermented and aged in wooden casks. Of course the quality of the wine would also effect the quality of the vinegar. Also traditionally in the old days, the northern people did not have access to Vitamin C tablets or orange juice, but they did have apples which the made into apple juice and then into apple vinegar, or grapes which they made into vinegar, so they would take a teaspoon of vinegar with a glass of water to get their vitamin C supply particularly during the winter when food was not fresh. I suppose if one could not afford orange juice or vitamin C tables, one could do the same. Vitamin C is Acetic Acid and also happens in a different dilution formula also happen to be the same as used when developing photography prints when transferring from the Developer solution in to the Acetic Acid mixture to stop development and then into the fixer to fix the print and then to the wetting solution to remove spots. At either end of Railroad Avenue between Arch street and Greenwich Avenue, they have the police blocking the road because of road repaving at Railroad Avenue and Arch Street. I guess it is part of the new bridge project that is basically almost complete, so the intersection going underneath the railroad is wider by one or two lanes along with the new railroad platforms and stairs. Of course they are still working on the railroad pedestrian overpass, so one has to walk around to get from one side to the other. The train station is now opened on Sunday, but it closes about 8 P.M.. I studied the Miller Motor Cars http://www.millermotorcars.com/ dealership across the train station, and they have the usual display of Rolls Royces, Bentleys, and Ferraris. However, most of them are convertibles, so I guess they are catering to the warmer weather crowd. I then completed my walk. I next drove down by the waterfront. I then went by the ATM machine at Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street. I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought five Banquet 7 ounce chicken pot pies for $3 all, a four pack of six ounce cans of Chicken of the Sea solid white albacore tuna fish for $3.99 all, a quart of plum tomatoes for $3.99, a bunch of broccoli for .99 a pound for $1.07, a 17 ounce bottle of Colavita Italian balsamic vinegar for $2.99 for $15.04 total. I then returned home. I drank some iced tea. I chatted with a relative. CIO

I still have it, and I have thought about trying to fix it, but I do not have a triple blade Phillips type driver bit to open it up. I have it stored in my bedroom closet. I could take it to be repaired at the appliance repair shop on High Ridge Road in Stamford, Connecticut, but it might cost more to repair than I am willing to pay. Note: <888> 12/11/04 Saturday 7:45 P.M.: I chatted with my neighbor downstairs after the last message. My neighbors watches a lot of television unlike me. I told the neighbor that I had not followed the Peterson murder trial, and from what I know anyone could be set up with enough time and money and coconspirators. I do recall one news story that possibly members of the occult in California were involved in the murder which is a whole different kettle of fish. Since I was once advised by my grandfather Scott to believe nothing that I hear and half of what I see, it sometimes is hard to figure out what other people's reality is based on how much television they seem to watch and from where. Basically television comes into this area via Cablevision from Norwalk, Connecticut which comes out of Westbury, Long Island, so since much of what is on television seems to be California programming, it would seem to be there are a lot of people from California out on Long Island, which is par for the course since California people tend to gravitate towards the beach. Most of the Europeans and foreigners I know in this area prefer www.directtv.com which provides most of the entertainment programming they are use to. However, in this building that I live in which is administered by Greenwich Public Housing Authority, we are not allowed to have satellite television dishes, so we are limited to the Cable Television marketing concepts of media. Obviously they could install a central DirectTV antenna system, but that would probably cost more money, and more than likely Cablevision seems to be the preferred method of television viewing that the public housing residents whom can afford it prefer to watch. Whatever, the case since I was raised in an environment where I read most of the time, I use the Cable Television news as a handy reference to see what the general public is focused on. Since I have cable modem internet access in my apartment, I also look at a lot of other news that the cable news market does not cover. Since very few of the residents in my building use the Greenwich Library, I am not sure how well versed they are on the overall large amount of media available in the world today. If one simply looked at World News - WN Network , there is obviously a lot of news in the world today that is not covered by the simpler cable news networks and other local media in this area. In the old days, the motto of the New York Times was "All the News that is Fit to Print", but today most news organizations' motto is "All the News that they can afford to cover". A great many of our local senior citizens still depend on the local radio station 1490 AM, but its content has changed in the last few years, since it is now providing more canned network programming by their new owners. After I chatted with my neighbor, I went to bed, and I was up at 11 A.M., when I picked up the package outside my door from http://www.smokemcheapcigarettes.com/ that I ordered that contained 10 cartons of Seneca Ultra Lights 100s in the box. This should be enough to take me through January 2005, hopefully by which time I will be able to quit smoking cigarettes. I went back to bed, and I was up at 4 P.M.. I went outside, and I checked my mail, and I threw out some garbage. I chatted with a relative. I ran a cup of white vinegar through my Krups espresso coffee machine that I use for breakfast coffee, and then I ran a cup of water through it. Thus it now should be decalcified, and the coffee with breakfast tasted better. I ate breakfast of oatmeal with a sliced banana, toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I put a new 100 watt light bulb in the central living room lamp with the Victorian lamp shade on the center window shelf. I received this email from www.geico.com .

End of message from GEICO. I decided I have done most of their recommendations, but I do not like keeping flares in my car. I also do not have a first aid kit in the car. Water in the car would freeze around here. However, I decided to take the black cotton comforter off the back of the Scott family living room sofa in my apartment, and I will put it in the back seat of my Volvo to have available for warmth and comfort should the need arise. However, I do not driver far most of the time, but all of us in this area know that the weather in this area sooner of later will get a lot colder and more frigid, so one should be prepared. I keep my snow shovel which is actually a coal shovel in the left living room closet. I do not have all season mud and snow radial tires on the Volvo, but I have high speed highway tires which only have 3/32nds of an inch tread left on them. However, for local driving in this area during the winter, since I am near U.S. 1 about 100 feet away that should be fine. However, for highway or back country driving in lots of snow or slush or ice, I might have a problem. However, I tend to only drive in the winter once the roads are cleared. CIO

Note: <888> 12/11/04 Saturday 5:35 A.M.: A full size silk damask quilted bedspread like I gave to the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop cost over $100 about 30 years ago, but not available today, at least on the internet. However, it was given to me about 16 years ago by a friend. It was also a bit dirty, since it was displayed and used when I smoked in my apartment before I started smoking at the kitchen fan like I have for the last couple of years. I think it was silk, and it was sort of a lime moss green satin finish. However, I told a Greenwich Hospital thrift shop employee whom is a neighbor that I was giving it to them, and since the person that gave it to me was also a former Greenwich Hospital thrift shop employee, more than likely more than a few people around the Greenwich Hospital thrift shop over the years have seen it. I actually was in such a rush to clear out the false ceiling above my bed that I did not take much notice as to what was in the bags that I gave them other than what I could remember. Anyway, I could not afford to have it cleaned properly anyway. It would have looked nice draped along the back of the old Scott family sofa, since the moss green corduroy www.surefit.com cover on it is about the same color. However, I have a black and another white and light striped cotton comforter along the back of the Scott family sofa along with the blue and grey afghan. The two cotton comforters came from the dumpster at the ELDC thrift shop, which is now out of business. CIO

I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought a 4 ounce container of Elmer's washable school glue for $1.39, two Stop and Shop blue toilet bowl cleaner tablets for .99 each, a gallon of Stop and Shop white vinegar for $2.59, and 10 ounces of fresh spinach for $1.99 for $8.15 total. I then went downtown, and I chatted with another citizen. I then next walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue including the train station area, and I sat out at various locations. I next drove down by the waterfront. I then returned home. I used the wire cart that I keep in my apartment to bring up my purchases. I drank some iced tea. I used the Elmer's glue Elmers.com - School Glues, Art Supplies, and other adhesives for every use. to glue the handle on the lower drawer of the long mahogany bureau in the living room. It is an expensive order, but it was over a $167.05 in savings. I unpacked the items, and they all fit just fine. When opening my lower mahogany bureau drawer part of the drawer puller rail broke off, so I will have to glue it when I get some Elmer's glue. I picked up my mail downstairs. I ate breakfast of oatmeal with a sliced banana, toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I went back to bed until 4:30 P.M.. I then let it heat a little more until that side was cooked a little bit and it was puffy. I then slid it on to a microwave proof plate, and I added one sliced vine ripen tomato sliced into 1/8 inch thick slices and 3 triangle shaped slices of Norwegian Jarlsberg cheese five inches high and three inches at the base by 1/16th inch thick, and seasoned it with Italian seasoning, and I put it all in the microwave oven with a microwave cover, and I heated it on reheat for half of the normal cycle to melt the cheese and warm the tomatoes. I ate the salad with a glass of iced tea. I put on my GAP www.gap.com full length long underwear on underneath my leisure clothes. CIO
Note: <888> 12/06/04 Monday 7:15 P.M.: I went out after the last message. I went by the Arnold bread store outlet, and I bought a loaf of 100% whole wheat bread for $1.45. I then went to my 4 P.M. appointment. I next drove down by the waterfront. I then drove through town, and I was told that the Korean vegetable and fruit store Greenwich produce might be reopening, but it is still closed. I then drove by CVS, and I bought five Gillette www.gillette.com Right Guard Xtreme sport invisible solid anti-perspirant deodorant cool peak 2.8 ounce for $1.99 each, 10 Beach Cliff 3.75 ounce tins of sardines with water for 2 for .99, five Star-Kist solid white albacore tuna fish for .99 each, and a 2.75 ounce jar of Gold Emblem cinnamon for .88 less a $4 off store coupon plus .15 tax for $16.88 total. I did not walk, since it is very cold and damp out. I next went by the ATM machine at Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street. I then went by the Greenwich Library, and I read the Greenwich Time. I next went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought vine ripe tomatoes at $3.49 a pound for $4.82, Chiquita bananas at .69 a pound for $1.74, and a 20 ounce bag of Tostitos restaurant style corn chips for $2.99 for $9.55 total. At the current price of tomatoes, I might not be able to keep buying them in the future. They did not have any quarts of plum tomatoes for $3.99. I then returned home, and I drank some iced tea. On Sunday, I put $5 more on my laundry card, so I have $17.85 total on it. CIO

I hope they don't start hitting cars with them, which would be considered a felony. I am not sure what type of pink paint it is and whether it washes off. Danbury Hyundai took the $120 cost off my www.myecount.com card, so the jacket is now paid for, and the sale went through their VISA machine. I guess they will ship it to me when it arrives to them at the end of the week. CIO
Note: <888> 12/06/04 Monday 11:40 A.M.: I was up at 8 A.M.. I ate breakfast of oatmeal, toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I received a telephone call from Danbury Hyundai http://www.danburydodge.com/hyundai.htm , and for my jacket order, they needed the full account number from www.myecount.com , which I came them along with the correct expiration date. After breakfast I called them back, and they told me they would not run the Hyundai rebate card through the VISA machine, until they received the jacket. Thus with the shorter 10 digit number on the card, the $120 balance still shows up. However, one can not enter the longer 16 digit number at www.myecount.com which is on the card form letter, which is the number that Visa will accept along with the correct expiration date. They said they would ship me the jacket when it arrives, and the $120 on the card should cover shipping and taxes. Well, we will have to wait and see what happens. I looked for one of my SCOTT stickers to put in my Volvo back window, but I could not find one, but I did find small 3 inch by 5 inch U.S.A. flag sticker, so I went outside, and I put the U.S.A. flag sticker in my back passenger side Volvo window just above the Greenwich Country Day alumni sticker. I cleaned up, and I went out. I drove downtown. I walked with another regular walker, and I walked up Greenwich Avenue and west of west Elm Street, and we stopped by William Pitt Real Estate http://www.williampitt.com/ . We then went by the Greenwich Library. We next walked east on Putnam Avenue as far as Christ Church. We then walked back west on Putnam Avenue, and we stopped by Whole Foods to sit outside at the outdoor tables. We then walked down Mason Street, and we walked back west on Benedict Place, and we parted company around the senior and the arts center. I then sat out for a while, and I used the bathroom at the senior and the arts center. I next walk back up Greenwich Avenue to the ATM machine at Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Greenwich Avenue. I was told that when they scratch one's paint job on the car, it is called "keying" the car, because they usually use a key. I learned a trick or too when I was young, and if I found the individual, I would throw a balloon full of pink paint at their car. I next drove down by the waterfront, and it seems like there is still life out on Long Island from my viewpoint. I then went by Radio Shack in Cos Cob. I next went by the Greenwich Library. I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought five 6 ounce dry cans of California medium black pitted olives for .99 a can, two 8 ounce bars of Cabot Cabot Cheese - award winning Vermont cheddar Vermont Monterey Jack cheese for $2 each, two 28 ounce bars of Goya chick peas for $1.19 each, and fresh broccoli crowns at $1.69 a pound for $1.66 for $12.99 total. They will call me to confirm the order, and I might have to pay tax or shipping. I then went to http://www.smokemcheapcigarettes.com/ , and I ordered 10 cartons of Seneca Ultra Lights 100s box for $11 each for $110 plus $1.20 each postage for $12 for $122 total. I have three cartons currently, but I wanted to order enough to take me through my January 12 return from my week trip to Florida. CIO
Note: <888> 12/05/04 Sunday 4:25 A.M.: I was just thinking if there are any places like Buckingham Palace or the White House that are getting too expensive for their respective governments to maintain, they could just put a few polar bears or white bears in their fenced in compounds, and it would tend to deter intruders, and more than likely might attract more tourists in their urban environments. Of course somebody would have to pay the bear keepers. I remember when I was in turkey in May 1972, lots of the young boys would be seen strolling the streets with their pet bears, which seemed to be a quaint custom, of course they were young bears too. Thus I would imagine a few people in the north country probably still keep pet bears, but the last one I recall seeing one in terms of polar bears was Scandia at the Central Park Children's Zoo, but Scandia looked awfully cramped in her small cage, so maybe they returned her back to the wild, and maybe Scandia got home sick and returned back to the New York area looking for free meals and lodging. The December 2004 World Wildlife Fund calendar www.wwf.org is a picture of Polar Bears, and a British lady that use to live in my current building use to keep a picture of polar bears on her front door. Note: <888> 12/04/04 Saturday 8:45 P.M.: I went outside with my Husky 2.25 million watt lantern, and I checked the perimeter of the building, and I checked out my Volvo. There are actually two six inch scratches on it, and a 15 inch scratch on it, so if I had the authority, I would give the individual 27 months in jail, when I catch them. Although I have an older 10 year car, in an area like Greenwich, Connecticut where automobiles can frequently cost over $100,000, we take vandalism very seriously. On an expensive car repairing scratches can cost thousands of dollars, so it would be considered a felony crime. Also since the gasoline tank flap was tampered with, it would seem we have gypsies in the area trying to steal gasoline out of automobiles. Whether it happened here at Vinci Drive or elsewhere downtown, it is hard to tell, but it seems like it happened downtown last night. The Greenwich Police department told me, they are going to increase patrols in the downtown area. I am charging up the Husky 2.25 million watt lantern, which takes 12 hours for it to be fully charged or when the green light comes on. Of course, I do not have any legal authority to convict somebody of vandalizing my Volvo, but I know plenty of other people that do. Somebody also scratched my Hyundai in the same location on the driver's side rear panel, and it was parked at the same location at the Board of Education, and as I mentioned before it was youngsters from Cos Cob that also scratched Nazi graffiti and racial slurs on the Greenwich Board of Education Van at the same location, as it was reported at the time in the Greenwich Time. I just finished chatting with a relative. Some neighbors downstairs are watching the Dutch opera on television. CIO
End of Scott's Notes week of 12/04/04:
Note: <888> 12/04/04 Saturday 6:40 P.M.: I chatted with a relative about 10 A.M.. I slept until 3:30 P.M.. I ate breakfast of oatmeal, toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I picked up my mail downstairs. I watched some television, and rested some more. I made out checks to pay my Verizon, Optimum Online cable modem, and Cablevision bills. Perhaps what happened last night was just bad timing on my part, but it seems strange since it is generally so quiet around here most of the time that anything out of the ordinary would ever happen here. Perhaps, we have some out of town visitors that nobody has taken note of. I will now send out my weekly notes. CIO
Note: <888> 12/04/04 Saturday 9:15 A.M.: I rested until 4 A.M. this morning, and I thought about something that happened last night. When I went downtown, and I went to park in the first parking place on the left at the Board of Education Parking lot. However, there was a black truck parked in the second parking place to the left to far over to the left, so I could not get into the first parking place on the left. I then parked in the third parking place to the left. There were about 20 youth around the loading platform at the Board of Education parking lot. When I was walking lower Greenwich Avenue and the train station area, two young white males asked me for a cigarette which I gave them. I was chatting with owner of the Figaro restaurant at the time. I then sat out in front of the senior center, and I smoked a cigarette. I then walked upper Greenwich Avenue, and I made my purchases at CVS, and I sat out at the top of Greenwich Avenue. I then returned to my Volvo, and I put my purchases in the Volvo, and I locked the Volvo. I then went into the senior and the arts center, and I used the bathroom. I then sat out in front of the Senior and Arts center, and I smoked another cigarette. I noticed another white male with long hair about my age smoking a cigarette and drinking coffee whom looked a bit familiar. I was wearing my polar bear winter cap, so I was not easily recognized. I studied my car, and I tried to figure out what the problem was. I went back to my Volvo, and the car doors were unlocked, and I thought I might have forgotten to lock them. I then noticed that my Volvo was in the second parking place to the left not where I had parked it originally, but moved over one parking place to the left in the second spot. There was a white van parked in the third parking place, where I had originally parked. When I went to the Exxon gasoline station to get gas, my lockable gas tank filler lid would not open like somebody had tampered with it. I pressed on it, and I relocked and unlocked the Volvo, and it finally opened. I put $13.25 of premium unleaded gasoline in the Volvo, which is about twice as much as I should have put in, since I drove the car only 45 miles since filling it up last Sunday, and I get 13 to 14 miles per gallon local driving. I returned home. I phoned this information into the police around 4:30 A.M., when I woke up after thinking about it. I then called GEICO insurance www.geico.com 1-800-841-3000, and I chatted with them. I then woke up at 6:30 A.M. when a friend called. Since it was daylight, I went out, and I checked my Volvo, and the gas tank filler lid looks like it has been pulled out a bit like someone tried to force it open, although it still locks. On the left rear panel there is a 15 inch scratch like somebody dragged a nail over it, and there is about a 5 inch scratch on the left rear door. I check my Volvo exterior most every day. Also when I returned home, my apartment lights were turned on, and I always turn them off. It seems to me that some persons are parties unknown might have gained access to my apartment to my keys for the Volvo which also includes the key for the truck bar steering wheel lock. Thus either the Volvo was driven about 20 to 30 miles while I was walking Greenwich Avenue which means somebody would have needed both keys or a group of people lifted the Volvo up, and moved it over one parking place. Also it was unusual at that time of night for somebody else to be out smoking a cigarette at the senior and the arts center about 9:30 P.M., but the person was also drinking coffee from Starbucks. There were a lot of out of state license plates last night, and I remember ones from North Caroline, Indiana, Virginia, and Georgia, which is unusual for this time of year. I also reported the information to my insurance company GEICO www.geico.com about 5 A.M., and I reported the additional information to the Greenwich Police department about 8:15 A.M.. In summary several years ago, I had somebody scratch my Hyundai at the same location, and the Greenwich Board of Education van also had Nazi and Racial graffiti scratched on it about the same time. The culprits of that incident were caught, and they lived in Cos Cob according to the Greenwich Time. I do have a "GW04" sticker on my Volvo rear window as well as a three star Republican elephant symbol and a Greenwich Country Day alumni sticker, so perhaps the vandals don't like those groups, or since I have been walking Greenwich Avenue daily for 21 years, maybe they do not like me. There was a larger police patrol car presence downtown last night compared to normal nights. We also have had gas cap vandalism and scratches on our cars at Vinci drive too, but it is hard to tell how or why my Volvo was moved over one place, and the car seems to have consumed an extra 30 miles of driving, although the odometer remained the same. It is all a mystery. I do not think I am absent minded, and I think there is some mischief afoot. Also since yesterday was the third of the month when retired people usually get their social security, we frequently get gangs working the town around the third of the month. CIO

I sat out at various locations. I stopped by CVS, and I bought a 10 ounce can of CVS lightly salted cashew nuts for $2.50 and buy one get one free of Comet cleaner for .99 both plus .06 tax for $3.55 total. After my walk, I used the bathroom at the senior and the arts center. I then drove down by the waterfront. I then went by the Exxon gasoline station next to the Greenwich Library, and I filled my Volvo all the way up with $13.75 of premium unleaded gasoline at $2.479 a gallon for 13 miles per gallon usage at 11 miles per hour average driving. I was able to put more in because the last two times I filled up, I did not fill it up all the way up. I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought four 10 ounce bars of Stop and Shop Vermont extra sharp cheddar cheese for $1.99 each, two half gallons of Tropicana Premium orange juice with calcium for $2.50 each, four 6.65 ounce Celeste Deluxe pizzas for $1.25 each, a 16 ounce Maria Callender turkey pot pie for $2.50, a 14 ounce Maria Callender chicken tenders meal for $2.50, 10 six ounce cans of Bumble Bee solid white albacore tuna fish for $1 each, five 26 ounce jars of Francesco Rinaldi tomato sauce with mushrooms, garlic, and green peppers for $1 each, four boxes of Jolly Time microwave popcorn for $1 each, a 10 quart 10 package container of Stop and Shop powdered whole milk for $6.99, four quart jars of Stop and Shop grape jelly for $1 each, five 18 ounce containers of Stop and Shop old fashioned oatmeal for $1 each, a 10 ounce bag of fresh spinach for $1.99, and a 8 ounce container of Stop and Shop low fat grated cheese topping for $2.69 for $62.63 total. I then returned home, and I used the wire cart in my apartment to bring up my purchases and put them away. I drank some iced tea. CIO

I went to www.hyundaiusa.com , and I ordered with my Ecount card which works like a Visa card from the Hyundai Rebate settlement, from the Hyundai Apparel and Merchandise link a Hyundai light weight khaki jacket in XXXlarge size for $115.79. The card is good for $120, but the Danbury Hyundai dealership first has to contact me to confirm the order. Also I am not sure if that includes tax or shipping in which case, I would probably have to pay more than the $120 card. I ordered the larger XXXlarge size instead of XXlarge, since I think they run small. I will now shut down the computer, and I will clean up, and I will go out. Hopefully the Ecount Visa card will work online too. CIO

Note: <888> 12/01/04 Wednesday 4:05 A.M.: I was up at 2 A.M.. The original movie "Good Bye Mr. Chips" was on the Turner Movie channel, but since I had seen it many times before, I did not watch it. I had breakfast of oatmeal, toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I watched the Cspan news about President Bush's visit to Canada. The last time I was in Canada was on a visit to Toronto, Canada about 21 years ago, but I still know quite a few Canadians whom live down here. I got a crank fax call about 3:30 A.M.. I exchanged the older General Electric 25 channel cordless telephone with the newer General Electric 900 MHz cordless telephone, so the more powerful General Electric 900 MHz cordless telephone is on the small mahogany tea stand at the apartment entrance with the other telephone equipment. I put the older General Electric 25 channel cordless telephone on the left side of the bedroom desk. CIO
