10/30/23 Monday 5:10 A.M.  I rested until 3 A.M..  I went outside, and I drank a brewed coffee.  I removed the white hooks and hose clamps from the living room ceiling.  From in front of the center living room window, I move the Ocean Digital Internet Radio and its Craig tower speaker to the top of the mahogany bureau in bedroom and the tower speaker on the window shelf.  Underneath the left living room window, I took out the wire shelf with the palm tree on it, and I move the folding oak table to its right further left.  I then moved the Queen Anne chair underneath the center living window further left, so one can see the televisions from there.  I put the wire rack with the palm tree underneath the right living room window on the right side of the Queen Anne chair.  From the folding oak table to its left, I moved the Alexa display and the Google display to the wire rack on the right side of the Queen Ann chair.  I moved from the bedroom desk the Ocean Digital internet radio the same wire rack.

I moved the small mahogany folding chair from in front of the left living room closet to the back wall of the kitchen.  I moved the bent oak chair from in front of the middle living room windows to in front of the left living room closet.  Under the middle living room window, I moved the wire stand holding the palm tree more to the left.  I then moved the Queen Anne chair from in front of the right living room window to in front of the middle living room window, so it is a more comfortable seating arrangement with the Ethan Allen recliner and the other Queen Anne chair.

10/29/23 Sunday 11:05 A.M.  I went downtown to www.cvs.com on Greenwich Avenue, and I toured the store.  I sat out in the Junior Chamber of Commerce Park across the street.  I used the bathroom at the CFCF coffee shop.  I then went to the Acme grocery store at 160 West Putnam Avenue.  I bought a 42 ounce Smart Balance spread for $9.69, a 48 ounce Simply Grapefruit juice for $4.79, and a package of sliced turkey breast for $8.78 and a dollar tax for $23.32 total.  I then returned home.  I sat outside.  I put away my groceries.  I chatted with a relative.  At the primary work computer, I disconnected the two red telephones, and I stored them away underneath the bedroom bookcase.  I now just have the two Panasonic telephones to the left of the primary work computer.  One of the red phones had increased volume control for a deaf person to hear, but for now I hear fine.  I ate a turkey wrap with a 12 ounce glass of Fresca with three ounces of grapefruit juice.  I went outside.  I will now shut down the primary work computer, and I will go to bed.  CIO

10/29/23 Sunday 8:35 A.M.  I rested a bit.  I chatted with a friend.  The friend said he would pay for me to visit with him to Vienna, Austria for five days at Christmas Time, if I paid for my airfare, which I can not afford https://www.kayak.com/flight-routes/United-States-US0/Vienna-Intl-VIE?sck=xerqgy3jlifh3vdapjygkq&tags=t%3A422_o_cy-253_d_c-22046_t_rt,f%3A631&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIlbq50qGbggMV5wqtBh397w89EAAYASAAEgIHOfD_BwE&aid=142746053508 .

End of Scott's Notes week of 10/29/23

10/29/23 Sunday 5:45 A.M.  I ate a roast beef sub with a 12 ounce glass of www.coke.com Zero Sugar.  There was hardly any roast beef on the sub but mostly lettuce.

I will now send out my weekly notes.  CIO

10/29/23 Sunday 5:10 A.M.  I will now go outside again.  CIO

10/29/23 Sunday 5:05 A.M.  I went through http://scott-mike.com/bf.htm .  CIO

10/29/23 Sunday 4:25 A.M.  For the Panasonic KX TG 6700 cordless phone system, I ordered https://www.amazon.com/3x-Pack-Panasonic-KX-TG6700-Replacement/dp/B00HKWHBF8/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=Panasonic+KX+TG6700+batteries&qid=1698566819&sr=8-3  for $11.99 and $4.99 shipping and $1.08 tax for $18.06 total.

I will now go outside again.  CIO

10/29/23 Sunday 3:30 A.M.  I went out, and I donated the two pairs of pants to the Charity Clothes container for Ovarian cancer at the northeast corner of the Stop and Shop parking lot at 161 West Putnam Avenue.  I then sat downtown at the Board of Education Parking Veterans monument for a long time.  I then returned home.  I sat outside.  I moved the standing brass lamp from the left side of the Queen Anne chair at the hallway entrance to the left side of the Ethan Allen recliner as one faces it places behind the small oak table with the remote controls and display devices.  Thus one has plenty of light for reading or viewing the small remote controls.  I also moved the ultrasonic pest control from the bathroom to the power strip nearest the apartment circuit breakers box.  Yesterday, I moved the LED desk lamp from the oak dining table to the right side of the living room desk.

I will now go outside and drink a brewed coffee.

10/29/23 Sunday 1:45 A.M.  I rested until 12:15 A.M..  I went outside, and I drank a brewed coffee.

On the right side of the bedroom closet, I have a lot of good pairs of pants that fit me.  I sorted them out by trying them all on, and I put the dark pants and the corduroy pants in the right side of the left living room closet.  Thus the right side of the bedroom closet only has blue jeans and khakis or tan colored pants.  I have a pair old blue jeans and a pair of too small khakis, I will now go out and donate to the clothing charity for Ovarian cancer drop off at the northeast parking lot of the Stop and Shop at 161 Putnam Avenue.  Recently people have been telling me to get a $50 expensive hair cut, but I think I am currently in the current fashion with the Dutch Grunge look.

10/28/23 Saturday 10:40 A.M.  I moved the dark oak end table from in front of the left living room closet to the left side of the Ethan Allen recliners as one faces it.  It has on it the Alexa display, the Google display, the Panasonic two line wireless telephone extension phone, the Samsung television remote control, the Samsung television sound bar remote control, and the Cable Box remote control.

10/28/23 Saturday 10:00 A.M.  I will now go outside again.  CIO

10/28/23 Saturday 9:55 A.M.  I chatted with a relative.  CIO

10/28/23 Saturday 7:40 A.M.  I chatted with a friend.  I will now go outside and drink a brewed coffee.  I figure on weekends the rich people whom can afford to buy coffee downtown will be moving around like they always do.  I once on a Saturday morning at the Greenwich Hardware store heard two financial types talking about taking over www.ibm.com when its stock was at a all time low, before it took off with the internet.  One has to be very advanced and tech savvy to work with IBM's advanced equipment.  I call home computers simply church computers.  CIO

10/28/23 Saturday 7:10 A.M.  In the spring of 1977 after I gave away my car to the Nantucket Hospital Thrift shop with all of my dress clothing and other items, I hitch hiked off Nantucket, and I showed up at the Boston Science Fair at the Prudential Center.  I also a lot of familiar faces having worked in Dr. Land's research laboratory on Osborne Street for Polaroid next to www.mit.edu .  I met a lawyer that lived on Beacon Hill.  I also met an www.army.mil major who wanted to recruit me for the Army.  After I left the science fair, I was walking across the Charles River Bridge, and I met a www.harvard.edu student who put me up for a night at a small apartment just west of Kindle Square.  That morning, I walked to the Howard Johnson's in Cambridge, and I ate a dollar bowl of oatmeal.  I then hitch hiked up to Stowe, Vermont to clean up the owners of the Le Languedoc's pub named Sister Kate's at Stowe for two weeks, and then I hitch hiked back to Nantucket for the season.  Thus besides the Gordon Folger Hotel, I was also involved with Le Languedoc as a pot scrubber back then.  For waiters, Le Languedoc used the Stowe Ski patrol where it is minus twenty degrees below zero on top of the Stowe Mountain in the winter.  Another employee doing maintenance was Ian Greenshield from Montreal, and he told me he was Jackie Onassis's body guard in Stowe, Vermont.  About the only friend I made since returning to Greenwich forty years ago, was a friend from Bedford, New York who grew up next to Helen Clay Frick there, and he also used to have a house in Stowe, Vermont; so he is still probably a cold weather person.  The British flag on my center window in the apartment was sold to me by a prominent member of the Old Guard here in Greenwich for $15 at the Merry Go Round Mews thrift shop.  She also once gave me a silver belt buckle that says "MIKE" on it, which I still have.  The big Scottish flag on the left living room window came from Tray Kelsey's 75% off rack at the old Greenwich Hardware store on Greenwich Avenue.  The big U.S.A. flag on the right living room window was bought off the internet for about $25.  The smaller U.S.A. flag in front of the bookcase on the left side of the hallway was bought for about $8 off the internet.  Most of the smaller flags of convenience were bought from the Greenwich Hardware store's flag stand over the years.  I still know Tray Kelsey's son who knows how to keep track of things going on in back country in the winter, when people are away.  I think he is involved with snow plowing and other cold weather maintenance.

I will now go outside again.  CIO

10/28/23 Saturday 6:30 A.M.  I turned on the Nestle five gallon spring water dispenser.  I paid a $150 for it at I think the Shop Rite on the Greenwich Stamford border.  Nestle is the world's largest food company, and they also own www.perrier.com and the www.starbucks.com products distribution franchise.  It is a Swiss company that has offices nearby in White Plains, New York.  I once saw the President of Nestle on Bloomberg news, and he is very skinny like a lot of other Europeans.  I guess world wide all of their food does not go very far.  A former neighbor Klaus on Steamboat Road worked for them, but he moved to Westport.  Perrier used to have their headquarters across the street from me, but they were bought out by Great Waters of France part of Nestle, and I was told they moved up to Trumbull, Connecticut.  Many years ago, when I went to the tag sale of Roger Hall's our next door neighbor at 21 Cornelia Drive, he was the head beverage chemist at Canada Dry here in Greenwich.  They gave me a hundred big thick books on beverage chemistry which I gave to Perrier across the street.  At the time when my mother and myself lived at 21 Cornelia Drive, a friend of President Jerry Ford that went to www.yale.edu with him after World War II was always at our house.  His name was Skip Waltz, and he was chief of security at Norton Simon that owned Canada Dry.  Norton Simon also owned Halstead fashion which Helen Kress Williams started in business.  I guess, since I did not drink hardly any liquor in the pubs that I visited in Manhattan, but Canada Dry Club soda, people thought I worked for Canada Dry which used to have research offices on Old Track Road in Greenwich.  Skip Waltz retired to Rancho Mirage near Palm Springs in California where Jerry Ford and his wife also retired.  Fred Von Mierers' friend Walter Anneberg who was Richard Nixon's ambassador to England also retired there.  He had married Louis Rosenstiel's wife here in Greenwich, and she was Ronald Reagan's Chief of Protocal.

I will now go outside again.  CIO

10/28/23 Saturday 5:25 A.M.  I will now go outside and drink a brewed coffee.  The way I figure it, it costs $4 round trip to drive to www.starbucks.com down on Greenwich Avenue and another $4 for a cup of coffee there, so having my expensive K cups at home is cheaper.  The Nestle 5 gallon water dispenser can be turned on, so it has hot water for instant coffee and chilled cold water; but I figure that appliance uses as much electricity as a small refrigerator.  Also showering every day for three minutes uses a lot of expensive electricity, so being a www.nantucket.net conservationist by training, I even gave away my 1966 Chevrolet Biscayne, when I returned there in April 1977 just to be come a lowly scallop opener and pot scrubber at the Gordon Forger Hotel that season for $2.15 an hour.  The modern generation does not realize how hard the older generation has worked like spending forty years moving around Greenwich without being paid, although I thought I was a volunteer with a lot of experience.  CIO

10/28/23 Saturday 5:05 A.M.  I will now eat a half of a ham and cheese hogie with a 12 ounce glass of www.coke.com Zero Sugar.  CIO

10/28/23 Saturday 4:55 A.M.  I took down the smaller flags of convenience in the apartment, and I stored them in the  bottom drawer of the Danish end table in the living room.  I still have the small U.S.A. flag on the oak dining table.  I also have the large U.S.A. flag on the bookcase on the left side of the hallway entrance.  I still have the big U.S.A. flag on the right side of the living room windows.  On the center living room window, I still have the large British Union Jack.  On the left side of the living room windows, I still have the big Scottish flag.  CIO

10/28/23 Saturday 4:00 A.M.  I took out the computer table to the left of the primary work computer, and I threw it away.  I had to clear stuff off of it.  I then took off the LG portable air conditioner from the oak dining table, and I also stored away the Dell 17.3 inch laptop that was on the oak dining table in on the left living room closet shelf.  I then moved the oak dining table to the left wall at the entrance, where the small computer table was.  I vacuumed.  I moved one of the red and yellow carpets to the center of the living room.  I moved the Ethan Allen recliner out into the center of the living room.  I move the LG portable air conditioner to the floor in front of the center living room window.   I had to move a lot of stuff off the oak dining table elsewhere.  There are now only two eating places at it.  I put the Eton shortwave radio in front of the Sony CD player.  I moved the Ocean Digital amplifier internet radio and the Craig tower speaker by the folding oak table underneath the center living room window.  I moved another Himalayan salt lamp to the living room window shelf.  I put one of the oak chairs from the oak dining table to the left of the Queen Anne chair underneath the right living room windows.  I put a USA flag hanging in front of the bookcase on the left side of the hallway entrance.   In the bedroom, I move the LG portable air conditioner back a bit, so access to the bedroom desk and the left side of the bed is easier. I put the pineapple lamp on top of the Nestle water dispenser for light for the oak dining table.  I threw out the old B&M baked beans in the hallway cabinet.  I put two boxes of the Hormel 90 second food in that cabinet.  I put the other two boxes underneath the living room desk.  When one is hungry, one works harder.  That is 33 days of working on my apartment to make it better.  I guess I am a 33rd degree situation person.

10/27/23 Friday 2:35 A.M.  From the hallway sweater closet top shelf, I filled up two heavy duty Hefty brown leaf bags with a dozen heavy duty sweaters and polar fleece that are now too small for me.  From the left living room closet, I filled up another leaf bag with a half dozen new suit jackets and a half dozen new dress pants.  I will now go out and donate them to the Ovarian Cancer charity clothes drop at the northeast parking lots of the Stop and Shop at 161 West Putnam Avenue.

I went to the Stop and Shop, and I bought two turkey wraps for $5.99 each and a 12 pack of Jimmy Dean sausage, egg, and cheese croissants for $16.99 for $29.86 total.  I then returned home.  I put away the food.  I drank a brewed coffee outside.

Then on the left side of the kitchen I took the heavier stuff off the blue book case, and then I moved it out of position.  I then removed the four old layers of carpet underneath the blue bookcase and the left side of the kitchen, and then I threw it away.  I then swept that part of the kitchen floor.  I moved the blue bookcase back into position on the left side of the kitchen.  I threw out the white plastic stand that the three drawers of K cups were sitting on, and I put the K cup drawers on the bottom left of the blue bookcase.  I moved the spare K cup machine from the lower left kitchen cabinet to on top of the new Sunbeam iron on the top left of the right living room closet shelf.  I then moved from the other plastic rack that I threw away, and from it I put a dozen jars of instant coffee in the lower left kitchen cabinet.  I also put in that cabinet two 12 packs of Fresca.  I now have the Amazon microwave on the right top of the blue bookcase, and the Cuisine Art K cup machine on the left top of the blue bookcase.  It is all a bit more spacious.

I really do not want to get rid of my LAN cables, since I pay for 400 mbps LAN.  The fire marshal has approved the LAN cables several times in my apartment.  A LAN cable uses less energy than a flash light battery.  Also in my apartment wireless would be less than a tenth the speed or even slower.  Also my experience with wireless in the past is that it has been easily hacked many times.

How much electricity does an Ethernet cable use?
Power over Ethernet is injected onto the cable at a voltage between 44 and 57 volts DC, and typically 48 volts is used.

10/26/23 Thursday 1:45 A.M.  From the back left side of the primary work computer, I threw out all of the rechargeable flash lights, the NOAA weather radio, and the rechargeable emergency radio.  I moved from the white book case on the right side of the kitchen entrance the Brother all purpose laser printer on the back side that I cleared up.  From the white book case on the right side of the kitchen entrance, I moved the Himalayan salt lamp and a family picture to the center window shelf.  I moved the pineapple lamp to the table on the left side of the primary work computer.  From the white bookcase, I moved the U.S.A. flag and the U.S. Air Force flag to the top drawer of the white bureau in the bedroom.  I moved the Red Cross medical kit to the wire rack behind the apartment entrance.  On the right living room closet shelf, I moved the boots and shoes to the floor from the top shelf.  From the white bookcase at the right side of the kitchen entrance, I moved the spare garbage bags, the Sunbeam iron, my spare computer tools, and my straw hat and a www.exxon.com Polar King hat to that shelf.  Also from the white bookcase on the right side of the kitchen entrance, I moved the www.cvs.com noodle meals to the upper right kitchen cabinet.  I then used my folding cart from the back of the car to get rid of the white bookcase on the right side of the kitchen entrance.  I then vacuumed and cleaned the area where it was.  Well in the old days, Fred Von Mierer's apartment at 420 East 49th Street was in a $150 ground floor apartment with over a hundred thousand dollars of antiques.  He called it the "Mouse Palace", so I call this place the "Mouse Palace East".  Up on www.nantucket.net Fred was so exhausted decorating, when he lived at John Rugg's on India Street in a rented room, he only painted it white lacquer with just a white lacquer bed, and nothing else.

From the right side of the Ethan Allen recliner, I moved the brass Shield of Pall Mall to the left side wall at the kitchen entrance.  From the upper right of the right bookcase in the hallway, I moved the hats and gloves and scarves to the top drawer of the mahogany bureau in the living room.  From that drawer I moved the new silk ties and old leather belts to the middle drawer.  From the right bookcase in the hallway, I moved the King James bibles to the middle hallway bookcase.  From the middle hallway bookcase, I moved the videotapes to the left hallway bookcase.  I moved some other items around too.  I took out the upper shelf in the right bookcase, and I stored it behind the bathroom door.  I then moved the two stereo speakers from on top of the right hallway bookcase to the first upper shelf.  Now the hallway bookcases have nothing on top of them.

I moved from the center kitchen counter, the K cups drawers to the floor to the right of the Nestle five gallon water dispenser.  I also put the wooden oak cutting board underneath the Cuisine Art four slice toaster on the kitchen counter.  Now the kitchen counter has more work space.  I never use the stove, but it would now be fairly simple to install a new stove, if Greenwich Communities thought it was important.  I basically microwave most of the time.  Recently to have more strength I have just been buying prepared deli sandwiches.

In 34 years on personal computers and the internet, I have not heard from anyone to speak of.  When I first got on the internet with Netcom, I heard twice from Bill Gates, but the second email was in PGP encryption.  He wanted to know what my web site was about, and back then I told him NASA could x-ray volcanoes with satellites like Mount Rainier near Redmond, Washington.  I heard twice from Tim Burners Lee, and he told me to keep it up while he was teaching at www.mit.edu .  I heard once from Mark Zuckerberg before he went to www.harvard.edu , when he had made the program Instant Messenger for American Online.  When the internet took off, they probably did not like me living near www.ibm.com in Armonk, so I guess they have worked around me all of these years.  Also I do not know programming code, just some COBOL from the summer of 1971 at Polaroid and a bit of HTML which is how web pages are made.  I also have known how to type, since I took a typing course on an IBM selectric at Eastern Middle school in the summer of 1965.  I remember when Google first started, they might have used my Yahoo data base of 75,000 web sites in my downloadable directory.  I remember in the early days of Google, I read they kept their server in closet, and they would buy replacement hard drives at CompUSA.  I guess once they get a lot of money they are using more advanced equipment.  Being disabled at age 39, when I started, I did not feel like starting a company, and I could not afford a $275 search engine for my data base.  Also www.internet.com came out of nearby Westport, Connecticut; so I figured the internet people were making money off the more private people in Greenwich whom prefer to stay private.  When I over hear people my age talking around the www.apple.com store on Greenwich Avenue, they mostly seem to be interested in Email.  I am not that familiar with the Apple product other than installing its IONS.  From what I can observe locally most people are not interested in desktop or laptop computers, and they prefer to use Apple Iphones or Android cell phones which require sharper vision which I do not have at age 73 and 34 years of personal computers and 35 years of reading books and periodicals before that.  Also cell phone are easier to carry, when one is constantly on the move.

10/23/23 Monday 11:10 P.M.  From the top of the hallway bookcases, I removed all of the stuff except the two speakers on the right side.  I moved the family pictures to the far right of the living room window shelf.  I moved the book light to a lower shelf.  I moved Himalayan salt lamp to the bedroom window.  I moved the signed Golf magazine to hanging above the bedroom closet.  I moved the Swiss cross bow to on top of the spare fans on the far right of the living room window shelf.  I threw out a little mahogany shelf.  From the top of the dark oak bookcases with the stereo system, I moved the clock to the right living room window shelf.  I left the little Budweiser beer mug up there that holds the short wave radio antenna.

Over 40 years ago, when I lived next door to the New Canaan police department, and today New Canaan is supposed to be the safest town in the United States.  At the last east bound exit in New Canaan off the Merritt Parkway, I think for Route 106, the Connecticut National Guard used to have an Armory.  However, the current governor of Connecticut lives in Greenwich, and he would have to mobilize the Connecticut National Guard.  My only friend left in Connecticut lives near the State Police in Bridgeport, and he has military experience, but at age 81, he can not see to drive to well at night.  When I visited the www.forbes.com family in Far Hills, New Jersey in the summer of 1974, there oldest brother Steve Forbes was away in the New York State National Guard, but he is pretty old too.

10/23/23 Monday 2:25 A.M.  I also have 34 years of personal computer experience.  I also spent four and a half years on www.nantucket.net dish washing, pot scrubbing, and cleaning up restaurants for up to twelve hours or more a day.  I also spent ten months building a garage apartment for over twelve hours a day or more at night for a family in the United States State Department next to Mr. Grumman who owned Grumman Aircraft the second largest Defense contractor in the United States of America.  There were two police cars parked next to the house 24 hours a day, so there was good security, but that was not good for networking.  The State Department family were also related to the Kaiser of Germany's consulate in Manhattan before World War One, and they had a relative who was a colonel in the United States Army.  Also, when I was sixteen years old in the summer, I spent three months building a house on Baldwin Farms South in Greenwich.  In Boston, I spent three months one summer building on the Boston waterfront a Italian restaurant.  Also I spent another three months one summer building a chemical assembly plant for Polaroid.  Also on Nantucket, I spent four months restoring the second oldest house on Nantucket.  Also in Key West, I hired dozens of people to work on restoring the Southern Most Hotel in America known as the Casa Marina and working as the night watchman at night on the project.  Also I worked for six months in Greenville, South Carolina expediting for Daniel Construction on building pharmaceutical plants around the country.  Thus it is not polite for people whom do not know me to say that I never did anything before or after my disability.

10/23/23 Monday 1:50 A.M.  With a new can of www.cvs.com furniture polish, I polished the kitchen cabinets, the mahogany bureau in the living room, and the mahogany bureau in the bedroom.

From experience around Fred Von Mierers interior decorating apartment from October 1973 to February 1975, there was a lot of cleaning, polishing, and vacuum cleaning which Fred let me have all of the fun doing, while he was out decorating.  When he introduced me to Kip www.forbes.com whom he met at a Sotheby's auction, Kip came over to visit me one night on West 20th Street across from the Anglican Seminary that Chris Hemphill and John Wells let me use while they were else where.  That night when Kip fell asleep, I did a complete cleaning of the whole apartment which at the time I thought was Teddy Roosevelt's old family town house in Manhattan.  Kips father had a town house on West 21st Street, and Teddies Roosevelt's town house was closer to Fifth Avenue.  Fred knew the more important details about maintaining expensive antique furniture which he learned from living with the Shah of Iran's family, the Krump family of Germany, and Richard Nixon's ambassador to Spain.  Helen Kress Williams was also the head trustee of the Brooklyn Museum, and she also used to finance the Park Avenue Armory antiques show.  Out here in Greenwich, the younger brother of my step father got Peter Brant to move to Greenwich, and amongst other ventures Peter Brant owns Antiques magazine.  He also grew up in Queens knowing former President Donald Trump.

I will now go outside and drink a brewed coffee thanks to a friend of the Aga Khan named Tony Renato Pigato from Sao Paulo, Brazil who owns twenty million acres of Brazilian coffee plantation.  The Aga Khan's oldest brother also lives in Brazil and was married to the actress Rita Hayworth.  The Aga Khan might still have a little money having been able to afford to have a house in Greenwich since World War I, and his family also helped finance the start of the United Nations.  His world wide headquarters is now in France, so he probably has some people whom speak French, and he is legally a Swiss Citizen.  CIO

The Piscah National Forest near www.biltmore.com has bears which I discovered, when I hiked the Appalachian trail for four days in late April 1978.  The Appalachian mountains are supposed to be the oldest mountains on the planet Earth all worn down over time.  When resting, I hung my food in a tree to hopefully avoid bear contact.  At that part of the trail there were signs posted that it was owned by the Champion Paper Company that a former relative once worked for.  Biltmore House was closed the Sunday morning, when I arrived via bus from Atlanta, so I was not able to tour it.  It is supposed to be the largest house in North America, so somebody in the Vanderbilt family has hung on to a bit of property.

From the right living room closet floor, I moved the boots and shoes to the right living room closet shelf.  From the stainless steel cart in the kitchen, I moved the new refurbished unused Cornier air oven to the right floor of the right living room closet.  I then moved the other items from the kitchen stainless steel cart to the blue book case to its left.  I then threw out the stainless steel cart.  I then cleared out two big brown heavy duty leaf bags of stuff from the lower left kitchen cabinet, so it is now empty.  I moved the Panasonic two line wireless phone to the kitchen sink spice rack along side the Alexa display.  I also threw out a few unused items from the upper center kitchen cabinet.

In the Northwest corner of the living room in the right dark oak book case on the lower two shelves behind the Vizio television, I threw out a dozen spare new power supplies for older computers, my cassette tape collections, about 50 smaller power supplies, some old video tapes including the ones on the opening of the Nixon library, and the Tall Ships in New York harbor, and a heck of a lot of other computer parts.  My trusty folding cart from the back of the 2005 Volvo XC 70 wagon with a 125,000 miles on it helped me carry it all down in two loads and also two heavy duty plastic leaf bags.  I have not had this much fun, since a relative had me use the same cart to throw out my private library of 400 books mostly from the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop which since they moved into their seven million dollar building do not ever want to see me again.  As a minor point of dispute, I did spend about 37 years going to the old Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop daily across from the telephone company on Sherwood Place keeping an eye on the place.

10/13/23 Friday 8:00 P.M.  I gave a neighbor who is not feeling well, a year expired box of 50 capsules of Aleve.  While sleeping this morning, I put the Hudson Bay blanket on top of the summer blanket.  Earlier today, I threw out the sun tea brewer from the kitchen.  Today is Friday the 13th.  CIO

10/13/23 Friday 6:55 P.M.  I chatted with a friend.  I threw out the two bags of old linens that I took out from underneath the bedroom desk this morning.  I saved two bath towels though.  At the bedroom entrance on the left, I emptied out the white bureau drawers.  Now in the top drawer there is just an official U.S.A. 49 star flag that Mrs. Garland at the New Canaan Visiting Nurse thrift shop sold to me for $5 before the 1989 inaugural.  In the top drawer there is also a new set of linens.  In the middle drawer there are four bathing suits that I used to wear on the beach in Kennebunk.  In the bottom drawer there is nothing.  From the left living room closet shelf, I moved the almost new and hardly used HP 15.6 laptop with its HP wireless mouse and Microsoft headset all of which I moved to the bedroom desk.  It is all setup.  I bought it new for $350 at the Target store in White Plains, New York almost two years ago with my Renter's Rebate money.  However, there is no printer in the bedroom anymore.  I will now go outside and drink a brewed coffee.  A new neighbor gave me a slice of pizza earlier.

10/13/23 Friday 4:35 P.M.  I drank my coffee outside.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  I drove five mile east to the Old Greenwich Shell Service center, and I got my DMV Connecticut emissions checked for $20 cash.  I then returned home.  I picked up the mail.  I will now go outside and drink a cup of coffee.  CIO

10/13/23 Friday 1:50 P.M.  I woke up at 1:15 P.M..  I made my bed.  I went outside.  I will eat a Jimmy Dean Sausage, Egg, and cheese croissant with two toasted English muffins with Smart Balance spread, and pineapple chunks with mandarin oranges, and a glass of spring water with some pineapple juice and cranberry juice and a cup of coffee with artificial sweetener and almond milk.  CIO

10/13/23 Friday 2:15 A.M.  I ate the turkey and bacon wrap with a 12 ounce glass of Fresca with three ounces of grapefruit juice.

I will now shut down the primary work computer, and I will go to bed.  CIO

10/13/23 Friday 1:35 A.M.  From underneath the bedroom desk, I stored all of the extra bed linens on the floor of the right side of the bedroom closet.  I also threw out three old monitors and a electric typewriter.  I also moved the spare wireless keyboards and wireless mice to on top of the Rubbermaid hamper to the right of the bedroom desk.  The only thing underneath the bedroom desk is the old portable air conditioner duct work on the right under side and the bedroom garbage can underneath the left side.  I also moved from in front of the left living room closet the small raw oak chair all of the way underneath the bedroom desk.  From the left side of the bedroom window, I threw out the box of cigarette tubes.

10/12/23 Thursday 11:50 P.M.  I went out to the Stop and Shop at 161 West Putnam Avenue.  I bought two 10 ounce Jimmy Dean steak and egg bowls for $2.99 each, a six pack of Stop and Shop English muffins for $1.99, and two 11 ounce Marie Callender chicken Alfredo bowls for $3 each and two turkey and bacon wraps for $5.99 each for $25.95 total.  I then went to the Putnam Shell at 401 West Putnam Avenue, and I bought $27.04 of self service premium gasoline for $4.899 a gallon for 5.52 gallons at odometer reading of 124771 miles for 73.5 miles driven since Sunday September 24, 2023 for 13.316 miles per gallon in local traffic.  I then returned home.  I put away my food.  I then went outside, and I put the grey bag back in the car, and I drank a brewed coffee.  I am going to throw away the bubble wrap in the Rubbermaid container in the bedroom, and I moved the spare headsets from underneath the bedroom desk to the Rubbermaid container.  I filed this report.

I will now go outside again.  CIO

10/12/23 Thursday 10:00 P.M.  I chatted with a friend.  Just a little while ago, I drank a brewed coffee.  In the northwest corner of the bedroom, I threw out the extra cables in the Rubbermaid hamper.  I still have two packages of bubble wrap in it and a Brother toner cartridge.  Underneath it, I  have one or two new wireless keyboard and wireless mice sets and one or two laser printer toner cartridges.  I emptied out the two right drawers of the bedroom desk.  The left bedroom desk drawer has postal supplies and a Brother ID system and business cards.  I emptied out the left night stand in the bedroom except some keep sakes, and I cleared items off the top of the left night stand.  I sorted out the right bedroom night stand, and I now mostly have spare telephone system parts in it.  On the mahogany bureau, I cleared out most of the items in the two top half size drawers except some smaller items.  Three of the four big drawers in the mahogany bureau have spare light bulbs.  The second big one down I emptied, and I moved my spare paper work from beneath the cable box into it.  I cleared out a lot of electronic items from the oak bookcase on top of the mahogany bureau.  I moved and connected the two Stanley jump start systems to the little white table lower level underneath the cable box.  I will see if they charge up.  I replaced the telephone jack face plate in the bedroom.  From underneath the Vizio TV in the living room, I threw out two remote control holders and some old remote controls.  From the left bookcase at that location, I threw out two wired keyboards.  I cleaned the caulk on the kitchen sink.  I filled up the K cup drawers.  In an emergency situation the smaller folding mahogany chair at the oak dining table can be moved into the kitchen surrounded by the brick walls surrounding it except the entrance.  One could peacefully watch television there in such a situation.  I put the www.af.mil flag over the USA flag on the white bookcase on the right at the kitchen entrance.

I will now go outside again.

I did not photograph the United States Air Force flag.  A real United States Air Force person would probably recognize it.  The last job I had a Polaroid, my supervisor was a retired Air Force Captain.  Out on www.nantucket.net , one of the owners of the restaurant, where I worked the longest was a retired Air Force Major.  There were also personnel from Otis Air Force on Cape Cod living on Nantucket.  Back in the summer of 1977, I gave the Air Force Colonel's NORAD flight suit that I found along the highway hitch hiking in the Florida keys and wore in Key West to Bob Mullerin who skied in Stowe, Vermont and moved to Martha's Vineyard.  He was from Fairfield, Connecticut, and his father worked for www.exxon.com .  I suggested he try skiing at Colorado Springs where the Air Force Academy is that I once visited in 1971 with a friend from Colorado College.  I do live about five miles away from Westchester County airport, which also has Net Jets.  CIO

10/12/23 Thursday 4:25 P.M.  I sorted out, and I cleared out the wire rack behind the apartment entrance door.  On the right living room closet, I cleared out the top shelf except for two new microwave steamers.  On the floor, I cleared out my old Kiwi shoe shine kit, which was about my first business in Greenwich shining my father's shoes.  I have three pairs of winter snow boots on the right living room closet floor along with a laptop bag and a couple of laptop cases.  I also have an ironing board on the right side of the right living room closet and a new steam iron in the right book case at the kitchen entrance.  I have a lot of winter coats in the right living room closet, and I moved one to the left living room closet.  It does get colder here sooner or later, which the Country Club crowd that goes to Florida for the Winter never seems to know.

I will now go outside and drink a brewed coffee.

10/12/23 Thursday 2:25 P.M.  From the kitchen counter, I gave the new cappuccino espresso machine to a neighbor.  I cleared out the two spice racks above the kitchen sink.  I cleared out and organized the white book case on the right side of the kitchen entrance.  I found the www.af.mil flag and the Swedish flag, and I put them underneath the right side of the bed.  I have the white bookcase on the right side of the kitchen entrance covered with the U.S.A. flag.  There is an emergency medical kit in it too.

10/11/23 Wednesday 4:50 P.M.  I went downtown to the Acme grocery store, and I bought a pre-made roast beef sandwich on a Kaiser roll with lettuce and tomato for $7.99.  I then drove downtown to the Veterans monument, and I paid $3 in quarters to park for two hours.  I had a picnic in the Greenwich Common.  I spent most of my time sitting in front of the Senior and the Arts Center.  I used the bathroom there three times.  I chatted with a friend twice on my cell phone.  I then returned home.  I drank a brewed coffee outside.  I took the small raw oak chair from the living room desk, and I moved it in front of the left living room closet.  I chatted with a relative.

10/11/23 Wednesday 12:40 P.M.  I brought up from outside, the folding mahogany chair made in Viet Nam, and I put it at the right center of the oak dining table, so there are now four places to eat at the oak dining table.  It is not good to have an odd number at a dinner party.  However, I do not feel like cooking for four unless it were all microwave.  Fred Von Mierers got to go to all of the A List Social Register parties in Manhattan with Helen Kress Williams, so there would not be an odd number.  I guess with Fred's multiple language skills he was able to chat with guests with different languages.  There are a lot of take house places around Greenwich with meals ready to go.

10/10/23 Tuesday 11:20 P.M.  I put away the clean clothes.  I went out to the Stop and Shop at 161 West Putnam Avenue.  I bought a six pack of Stop and Shop English muffins for $1.99, two 48 ounce Ocean Spray diet cranberry juice for $3.49 each, two 14 ounce Boston Market meatloaf meals for $3.50, and a 48 ounce Silk vanilla unsweetened almond milk for $3.99 for $20.06 total.  I then returned home.  I put away my groceries.  I put the grey bag back in the car, and I sat outside.  I filed this report.  I will now go outside again.  CIO

10/10/23 Tuesday 3:00 A.M.  I disconnected the 24 port Netgear switch from the oak dining table, and I stored it in the dark pine bookcase in the bedroom.  I replaced it with an 8 port Netgear switch with a spare LAN cable if needed.   I put a LED light bulb in the book light on the hallway bookcase.  I put the spare power strips in a brown plastic bag, and I stored them behind the oak dining table.  I put a case of www.coke.com Zero sugar underneath the Queen Anne chair in front of the right living room closet.  I put a case of Fresca on the stainless steel rack in the kitchen.  Now there is only one 12 pack of Coke Zero Sugar underneath the Ethan Allen recliner, so it easily fully reclines and returns to its up right position.  From the living room I took six headsets and put them in a white plastic bag, and I stored them underneath the bedroom desk.  Now the bent oak chair with the pink cushion can be easily removed from the near end of the oak dining table.  I put it in front of the left living room closet, where it can be easily moved to gain access to the closet, which does not happen to much.  Now I have two eating places at the oak dining table, and I also have a oak folding table behind the bathroom door and another one behind the bedroom door and a black generic one on the left side of the left living room closet which can  be used for extra dining on take out food.  I do not plan to do much cooking in my kitchen besides microwaving.  I put a little Dutch and little Danish flag on the bookcase on the left side of the hallway entrance along with the Swedish and the Canadian flags.

10/10/23 Tuesday 1:25 A.M.  I will now go outside and drink a brewed coffee.  CIO

10/10/23 Tuesday 12:45 A.M.  I put new batteries in the living room Vizio TV remote control.  I also put new batteries in the remote controls of the three sound bars in the living room TV setup and the bathroom TV sound bar remote control.  As a matter of dispute, some older people tend to be a bit hard of hearing, so they need sound bars.  Ninth Circle TV repair has become a bit complex for the older generation who grew up with rabbit ears antennae and now there is internet connectivity not to mention cablevision.  However, all of its programming seems to be programmed for the younger generation except for Cspan documentaries.  I have to remind the local people all my internet activity began back in September 1989 when the only internet site was Jimmy Bolster's astronomy club bulletin board BBS with astronomy shareware from Old Greenwich which cost me close to $800 in telephone time logging on to other BBS web sites through telephone long distance with a loss of my telephone for over three years, when I had to use the cheaper pay phone in the Port Chester police station entrance to make a 35 cent long distance call to Long Island versus $2.50 for my building lobby pay phone in Connecticut.  John who I used to chat with at the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop taught physics at www.columbia.edu for fifty years and had a PHD in Physics from www.harvard.edu , and knew all of the original computer pioneers. He volunteered at the local astronomy club at the observatory on Milbank Avenue across the street from my original apartment in Greenwich at 100 Milbank Avenue.  He told me I was wasting my time by getting on the internet, but I had nothing else to do being mostly on a night schedule staring at the smoggy sky.  CIO

I will now go outside and view the galaxy waiting for signs of intelligence in the universe.  CIO

10/09/23 Monday 11:10 P.M.  I moved from underneath the bedroom desk the pink and green quilt, the Hudson's Bay blanket, the dark blue and grey afghan, the orange and yellow afghan, and a clean set of bed linen to on top of the cleared mahogany bureau in the bedroom.

I also setup the TLC sound bar on the bathroom on the 24 inch Insignia Smart TV.

I will now go outside and drink a brewed coffee.

I guess Midnight Mike is trying to get back on a night schedule for better or worse.  On a night schedule it is a lot colder when I go outside every hour during the four seasons, so I guess I am cold weather person.  Before Coved 19, I used to walk Greenwich Avenue in the wee hours of the morning, when it was frequently below 20 degrees Fahrenheit.  Alas I gave away my two Earmark snow suits, so whom ever got them can try using them, when it is colder in he wee hours of the morning.  Last January when it was 20 degrees Fahrenheit, when I was sitting outside at 8 P.M. at night in the Junior Chamber of Commerce Park, a local judge ordered me to go inside, so I took his advise.  CIO

10/09/23 Monday 9:50 P.M.  In the bedroom, I moved all of the vitamins and supplements in the dark pine bookcase to the wire rack on the right side of the bedroom entrance.  I moved the radio, the Lindbergh radio, and the jewelry box to the bedroom desk.  I cleared of the top of the mahogany bureau.  I reorganized the stuff in the dark pine bookcase on the left.

10/09/23 Monday 4:35 P.M.  From behind the bathroom door, I threw out a four foot plank and two shelves, so the bathroom door now fully opens.  I moved from the open side of the bathroom door my two L.L. Bean red union suits and bath robe to the hooks on the open bedroom door.  Thus the bathroom entrance is fully clear.  From the wire rack on the right side of the bedroom entrance, I threw out all of the items except some old medication.

I moved the can foods on the floor in the kitchen to the hallway cabinet.  I took the slip covers off the Ethan Allen recliner and the Queen Anne chair underneath the right living room window, and I threw the slip covers away.  The Ethan Allen recliner now fully reclines, but one has to push it up from behind to raise it up.  I will  now go outside again.

10/07/23 Saturday 4:05 P.M.  From the hallway, I threw out the old curved mirror that used to be part of the mahogany bureau in the living room.  From in front of the two right windows in the living room, I moved the new mirror from there into the hallway, where the other mirror was.  I moved the Google display from the window sill to the folding oak table on the right side of the Ethan Allen recliner along side the Alexa display.  I put a little lamp on the window sill.  I threw out two old 24 port net switches.  From the back side of the Ethan Allen recliner, I moved the Craig tower speaker to the floor on the left side of the Ethan Allen recliner.  If I took the slip covers off the Ethan Allen recliner, it would now recline, if I moved it back a bit.  However, right now I do not think it is necessary.  I threw out the magazine rack with all of its old magazines.

I chatted with a friend.  CIO

10/07/23 Saturday 1:55 P.M.  From the center living room window area, I moved two plants to the far right window area along with a smaller aloe plant from the left living room window area.  I threw out two bigger plants from the left living room window area shelf.  From the left living room window shelf, I threw out two big mirrors.  On the left living room shelf, I put a German beer stein, a Boston bean pot, and a Hyannis candle holder.

10/06/23 Friday 7:25 P.M.  I put the three hanging plants in the apartment out in the garden.  On the left living room closet, I moved the shoe rack in front of it into inside the left living room closet.  From the far end of the oak dining table, I moved the two 17.3 inch Dell, the 15.6 inch HP, and the Apple Mac Book to the top left shelf in the left living room closet along with their power supplies and their wireless mice.  Thus I only have the Ipad and the Android tablet on the left side at the far end of the oak dining table.  Also the left living room closet is free to open, if one moves the small oak table slightly forward from its left side.  On the bedroom desk, I took out the SSD drive from the Dell Optiplex 790 SFF desktop, and I threw away the Dell Optiplex 790 SFF desktop.  Thus I now only have the primary and the backup computer to its left on the living room desk setup.

10/05/23 Thursday 10:15 A.M.  I took the six pairs of shoes off the back of the bedroom door, and I put them in the left living room closet floor.  I removed the shoe rack off the back of the bedroom door, so the bedroom door now opens fully.  Off the stainless steel rack that was in front of the left living room closet, I moved the two Dell 17.3 inch laptops and the Apple Mac book to the far end of the oak dining table along with the almost new HP 15.6 laptop.  I threw out the HP 17.3 inch laptop that was there along with the HP  17.3 inch laptop from the stainless steel cart.  Then from the stainless steel cart in front of the left living room closet, I threw out five Windows laptop and three Chromebook laptops, and the brother lazer printer.  I removed the cables, and I threw out the stainless steel cart, and I moved the shoe rack from the hallway to in front of the left living room closet.  I moved from behind the bathroom the spare Volvo door panel and the box of white plastic bags, and I put them in the left living room closet floor.  I moved the small dark oak table on the left side of the Queen Anne chair at the hallway entrance to the right side of the Queen Anne chair in front of the left living room closet.  I threw out the tower speaker.  I put the Google and Alexa displays and the cordless telephone on the small oak table along with the television remote controls.  Thus the hallway entrance is totally opened up.  Also one easily move the shoe stand to open up the left living closet, if one needs formal clothing.  I threw out the folding mahogany chair in the kitchen, and I organized the stuff that was behind and beneath it.  I threw out the mahogany chair behind the primary work computer chair, and I threw out the mahogany chair that was at the desk to the left of the primary work computer.  On the desk to the left of the primary work computer, I threw out the 20 inch AOC monitor, and I removed the SSD drives from the two Dell Optiplex 790 SFF factor desktops, and then I threw out the desktops.  From there I threw out the Dell laser printer and the Richo color laser printer.  From the mahogany table at the apartment entrance, I moved the smaller items on it to the area to the left of the primary work computer that I cleared out, and I threw out a lot of other smaller items.  I then gave the mahogany table at the apartment entrance to a neighbor.

Thus there is one tower and one desktop computer in the living room and four laptops.  The area at the entrance of the apartment as it leads to the primary work computer is all opened up to as is the area around the left side of the oak dining table and passage way into the apartment.

10/03/23 Tuesday 4:05 A.M.  I remember the Nixon Agnew days in this area.  I was living on Morton or Swanson chicken pot pies which were four or five for a dollar.  Nixon's head of the Federal Reserve Bank Arthur Burns lived here, and I used to see him all of the time, and he started, "Wage and Price Controls" on the national economy, and it only cost $5 for a tank of gasoline.  Knowing economics, I knew it would get worse.  Helen Kress Williams as the Head of the Opera Guild in Manhattan amongst other charities knew about little old ladies living on tea and toast and sometimes cat food if they could afford it.  Helen was personal friends of Eleanor Roosevelt living next door to Alice Roosevelt in Oyster Bay, Long Island.  She told me in World War II, if the Germans invaded they were going to plant poison ivy around all the churches.  She would make one A&P tea bag last a week, and then she would use the old tea bags in the garden.  She was also involved with the Long Island Garden Club, and once came out here with some friends to see what we were doing out here.  She also knew Rose Kennedy, and told me the Irish Potato feminine blight was caused by the active volcanoes in Iceland.  She also told me in 1882 after the volcano Krakatoa erupted, there was a fifteen foot snow fall in Manhattan.  Her neighbors the Roosevelts in Oyster Bay were involved in starting up the Natural History Museum in Manhattan.  However, when Jerry Ford and Nelson Rockefeller were in office next, the Republicans thought they might earn some more money, so the threw a Republican Fund Raising dinner at the Plaza Hotel that Fred Von Mierers worked on setting up, but I guess they did not get any money, and the big event at that time was the Field Club here in Greenwich advertised in the Greenwich Time, a roast beef dinner for anyone for $7 a head with big thick slices of roast beef.  Somebody from Greenwich with money must have snuck down to the Meat Packing District on West 14th street and come up with a big chunk of beef.  Around February 1975, when Fred Von Mierer, George Nichols and myself spent three nights with a Uhaul trailer moving her from the gate house on her forty acre estate in Oyster Bay on the waterfront to a nice house next to the Locust Valley fire house, they bought a big Perdue chicken from the 24 hour A&P in Glencoe and cooked it with butter and white wine, so we would have something to eat.  She also took Fred and myself to Sunday Dinner at the Winter Club.  At that time it was about zero degrees Fahrenheit.  Next to the house in Locust Valley, there was a pub, where all of the young people were wearing orange parkas, so I thought they might be from the House of Orange Nassau.  At the deli in Oyster Bay, they also sold Norwegian Ringness beer, because the King of Norway spent some time out there in World War II, when he was in exile.  He was a member of the Swanika Corinthian Yacht Club in Oyster Bay.

10/03/23 Tuesday 3:00 A.M.  From the near left side of the oak dining table, I threw out three old Ipads with their cases and ten old cell phones with their cases.  I kept their cables and a five port USB device in a white plastic bag that I put on the right side of the living room desk.  Also I put four cell phone headsets on the chair beneath at that location beneath the left side of the oak dining table.  Also from the center hallway bookcase cabinet lower enclosure and the Danish bar setup in between the living room televisions, I threw out about a hundred old boxes of nicotine patches.  I will now go outside and drink a brewed coffee.

10/02/23 Monday 11:35 P.M.  I got back to work.  I put eight pairs of shoes in a brown leaf bag.  I moved from the shoe stands six pair of shoes to the back of the bedroom closet shoe rack.  From the CVS shoe rack in front of the Queen Anne chair at the hallway entrance, I moved the rest of its shoes to the shoe stand at the hallway entrance.  On the Apple Imac on the CVS shoe rack in front of the Queen Anne chair at the hallway entrance, I deleted its hard drive setup and did a new install of Apple OS Maverick.  I then threw it out by the dumpster.  It cost me about $250 a few years ago, and it is also in perfect shape.  I also threw out the CVS shoe stand.  Thus the area in front of the Queen Anne chair and around the far end of the oak dining table is now more spacious.  From the hallway, I threw out the Lakso tower fan.  From the hallway, I threw out the three bottles of COVID 19 cleaner and two bottles of old Downy.  I moved the bottles of Tide to along side the toilet in the bathroom.  Now the bathroom door can fully close for privacy.  I went out to the Stop and Shop parking lot at 161 East Putnam Avenue, and I put the bag of shoes in the clothes and shoes container on the east side of the rear parking lot.  At the Stop and Shop, I bought two four packs of Chaboni yogurt for $3.99 each four pack, a 48 ounce Florida Natural Ruby Red grapefruit juice for $4.29 and a six pack of Stop and Shop English muffins for $1.99 for $14.26 total.  I then returned home, and I put away the groceries.  I put the grey bag back in the car.  I drank a brewed coffee outside.  I finished the activity above.

10/02/23 Monday 3:55 A.M.  On religion Helen Kress Williams, Fred Von Mierers, and Vivian Simmons West all went to St. Bartholomew's church on the north side of the Waldorf Astoria.  Happy Rockefeller also once threw a big outdoor party there too, so maybe some of the Rockefellers went there too.  Fred's Major Duomo ended up working at Grace Church on University Place in Greenwich Village, a very established church.  Vivian Simmons West's daughter Julie Bolton and son in law Peter Bolton were married at the Anglican Church on Fifth Avenue and 11th Street.  Richard Van Marter's parents were also married there.  John Michael Barrett's family from Bloomington, Indiana owned the lime stone quarry that supplied the lime stone for the National Cathedral and St. John's church in Manhattan.  Peter Bolton's second wife  Beverly from Nova Scotia worked for the World Council of Churches.  My stepfather's family went to the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church.  In Greenwich in 1963, I was confirmed as a member of the Round Hill Community Church, but one has to be rich to go there, because J.P. Morgan's daughter started it.  My stepfather's Bliss family also donated the property for the New Canaan Presbyterian Church.  My stepfather's family went to St. Anne's church in Kennebunkport, since 1872.  My mother's Dutch family in Holland, Michigan have a lot of Dutch Reform churches a seminary at Hope College.  My grandfather Scott was a 33rd degree Scottish Rite mason, and my father's grandmother's Gard family from Lincolnshire, England that settled York, Maine four hundred years ago, I think were Roman Catholic.

10/02/23 Monday 2:35 A.M.  I drank a cup of coffee outside.  I used to look a bit like William Clay Ford, when I used Fred Von Mierers' apartment at 420 East 49th Street now the German Consulate two blocks north of the Ford Foundation.  I was told some of the Ford family members have houses in Greenwich too.  However, some people thought I looked more like Prince Albert on Monaco, since I had to try to speak French a lot of times.  Fred Von Mierers' girl friend was Sona Van Voohes the daughter of a Park Avenue Doctor who was also Ted Kennedy's doctor, and they also had a house on Nantucket.  We spent a lot of time maintaining Fred's apartment in case any of Helen Kress Williams' friends from Houston, Texas showed up to spend money.  Helen's son Claud Williams was the largest highway contractor in America, and I think they were also related to Williams Brothers' Energy a big Energy company in America.  Helen's grandson was also going to Babson College, when I met him when he showed up to visit Fred.  I have some relatives familiar with Texas, but they do not like dealing with me, since I am not familiar with Texas other than driving across it a few times.  CIO

10/02/23 Monday 12:50 A.M.  I rested until 9:15 P.M..  I went outside, and I drank a brewed coffee.  The right side dumpster still has some room in it.  In front of the left living room closet, I moved the stainless steel cart on wheels with the laptop computers to the right, and  I opened up the left living room closet.  I threw out the two foot artificial Christmas tree and ornaments and the artificial www.cvs.com Christmas wreath from the top shelf.  From the right side of the top shelf, I threw out the computer boxes with old computer parts and the boxes with the old external hard drives.  From the floor which was mostly cleared, I moved the spare florescent lights to behind the Queen Anne chair at the hallway entrance.  I threw out a CD case, a printer stand, and some laptop coolers and cases, so the left living room closet floor is now completely clear.  From the hanging clothes, I put the two Aramark snow suits in leaf bags, and in another leaf bag, I put in the $400 size 40 Brooks Brother brown leather jacket, the pink sports jacket, the lime green sports jacket, several old sports jackets and trousers. a dark blue Joseph Bank parka, a tan L.L. Bean denim jacket, a yellow wind breaker and a orange wind breaker.  I moved the Joseph Bank 2 XL leather jacket to the hook on the right living room closet.  I still have the more formal Joseph Bank blazers, suit jackets and trousers and suits and the full length black wool over coat.  I threw out the London Fog rain coat.   I then took the three leaf bags full of clothes to the Stop and Shop east side parking lot clothing and shoe drop off containers, and I put them inside the containers.  I then drove down Greenwich Avenue and back my usual way.  I returned home.  I went outside, and I drank a brewed coffee, and I ate a croissant.

End of Scott's Notes week of 10/01/23

10/01/23 Sunday 8:15 A.M.  Well at the first of October a lot of the warm weather people might be heading down South.

I will now send out my weekly notes.  CIO

10/01/23 Sunday 7:45 A.M.  I chatted with a friend.  I guess the reason my family knew automobile people was that my father's first wife's father was Owen Coon the founder of General Finance the largest automobile finance company in America years ago.  When we lived in the Boston area, and I drove a 1967 Mustang convertible with Firestone wide oval tires with a three speed stick shift, one of my relatives knew Edsel Ford, when he was going to nearby Babson College.  William Clay Ford is about my age, so maybe when I was driving that Mustang around Cambridge, when he was going to www.mit.edu , I might have been around some of his friends.  There were a lot of blond haired Irish in Boston in those day.  The Irish always look like they are starving, but when sees a lot of well fed Irish people somebody must be helping them out with food.

I will now go outside again.  CIO

10/01/23 Sunday 6:50 A.M.  When I knew Jimmy Eldert out on Nantucket, Key West, Manhattan, and Santa Cruz; he looked a lot like Rob Ford, so maybe at Fred Von Mierer's apartment at 420 East 49th Street two blocks north of the Ford Foundation, since he was an actor, they used him as a Ford decoy.  Joe MacDonald was a frequent visitor at Fred's apartment, and Anne Ford MacDonald was Henry Ford Jr.'s first wife.  When Fred moved to East 54th Street on the East Side of First Avenue, it was where Joe MacDonald lived.  Also Noel Coward once lived there.  When I met a women when I had dinner at the Mayfair restaurant near there named Mrs. MacDonald that looked like the Queen Mum of England, she told me the MacDonald family had the land grant for Western Canada.  She was with somebody that might have been Winston Churchill's grand daughter, and she was complaining about crime in Manhattan to me.  She like going to Billy's bar across the street, where she like chatting with the Sports Editor of the New York Times.  When I knew Bobby Fink, he introduced me to brothers Michael and Louis from England that had the pent house apartment in that building.  Ted Kennedy also had an apartment in that building.  The arch diocese of Manhattan has their offices across the street on First Avenue.  When I was at Daniel Construction now part of www.fluor.com , when I had Fred's new address in my desk address file, when I got back to Manhattan; there was a new 40 story building somebody built across the street from the building on East 54th Street.  There was also somebody named Billy from South Carolina that lived in that building.

Also when I came off Nantucket in December 1983, Greenwich Social Service got me the $225 a month apartment in the attic at 100 Milbank Avenue and gave me $200 a month in welfare money, which went on even at 700 Steamboat Road for $400 a month to $475 a month, when I moved to this Byram Public housing for elderly and disabled individuals in January 1989.  I had expensive hospital bills, so I was not eligible for unemployment from working out on Nantucket.  I also ate a croissant, when I last went out.  One of my last friends in Lake Forest, had a grandmother that owned Morgan Stanley, so possibly they were related to Lord Stanley up in Canada.  Several of my professors at Lake Forest College were from McGill University in Montreal, where it is the Keysian School of Economics verus the University of Chicago Milton Freeman school of Economics that David Rockefeller had a PHD in, because his family gave them a hundred million dollars. John Davidson Rockefeller Jr.'s legal address for tax purposes was the Drake Hotel on Lake Michigan in Chicago.  Another celebrity couple John and Avra Rockefeller also lived there.

I will now go outside again.  CIO

10/01/23 Sunday 5:55 A.M.  In the summer of 1974, when I was a guest of Kip Forbes at the Forbes farm in Far Hills, New Jersey, I knew there was a Greenwich connection with them since Mr. Dunn who lived on Glenville Road here in Greenwich was the publisher of Forbes magazine.  At www.lakeforest.edu where I spent a lot of time at the library, I knew Mr. Donnelly who donated that library owned R.R. Donnelly which published over two million magazines world wide including Time Life magazine that had people from here in Greenwich including its chairman Mr. Lenin and the Luce family also lived in the area, and they started Time Life after working in China.  Their daughter was a classmate at Lake Forest College.  However, from my perspective in economics that I learned there, Rob and Rick www.ford.com that I went to Taft and Lake Forest College with who were Henry Ford Jr.'s nephews probably had a large circle of friends.  William McCormick Blair who was the chairman of the Board of Trustees at Lake Forest College, was my friend's father's room mate at www.harvard.edu , where my friend's father was on the Board of Over Seers.  William McCormick Blair had a big estate in Lake Bluff, Illinois; and he started Ducks Unlimited, where my friend went horse back riding every day.  He was also President Kennedy's ambassador to Denmark and the Philippines.  The Ford nephews lived on his estate, so they were more private.  Another classmate from Tulsa named John Riggs had a family connection in owning the Riggs National Bank the main bank in Washington D.C. which I guess had Oklahoma oil money.

I will now go outside and drink a brewed coffee.  CIO

10/01/23 Sunday 5:25 A.M.  Expensive House sale on Nantucket https://www.forbes.com/sites/brianbushard/2023/09/29/barstool-founder-dave-portnoy-buys-most-expensive-home-in-massachusetts-history-this-42-million-nantucket-mansion/?sh=16521e4b522b

The most I ever earned on Nantucket in the summer of 1983 was $8.75 an hour before taxes as the head dish washer, pot scrubber, and food prep work at https://languedocbistro.com/ from when I got back from Oslo, Norway at Easter Time in April 1983 until December 1983.  I basically knew the people that I worked with, and that was about it.  At the time the Mianus River Bridge fell down in Greenwich, so I was afraid to return to Greenwich.

10/01/23 Sunday 4:45 A.M.  When I first came off Nantucket in December 1983 to Le Guardia airport from Hyannis with Jackie Onassis on the plane, I took the Amtrak up to Toronto for a couple of weeks, where I stayed at the Anglican Seminary Library at the University of Toronto where John Bolton's grandfather West majored in Geology before discovering the oil in Saudi Arabia.  It was zero degrees Fahrenheit up there, so when I came back to Manhattan, I spent two different weeks wandering homeless with a stay at the Greenwich Hospital, and the second time there, they said I was disabled, and my Social Worker Sid Ferie found me an inexpensive apartment in the attic at 100 Milbank Avenue here in Greenwich.  In the homeless period in Manhattan, I would go Uncle Charlie's on Greenwich Street in Greenwich Village until it closed, and then I would rest at the East Side Airline terminal where Wolf Peugeot was located across the street from the Manhattan Power station that got coal from a underground railroad connection across the Hudson River.  On the second floor of the East Side Airline terminal, there was a tennis club, where I would sneak in and shower and clean up.  None of those places are there anymore.

I will now go outside again.  CIO

10/01/23 Sunday 4:10 A.M.  Greenwich, Connecticut used to have a Florida connection.  The Manero family that had a small farm on Glenville Road across from the former Rockefeller family estate had a steak house on Steamboat Road.  They also had a steak house in Manhasset, Long Island, a steak house in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and a steak house in Hollywood, Florida.  However, since nobody can afford to eat steak anymore, they probably went out of business elsewhere too.  They still have Greenwich Prime Meats https://www.yelp.com/biz/greenwich-prime-meats-greenwich .  When I frequented Steamboat Road for forty years, occasionally on my birthday, I would buy a steak sandwich at their Steamboat Road business for about $7 and eat it on the steps of the Royal Bank of Scotland on the Harbor across from them.  Alas with the Royal Bank of Scotland there, I never made any Scottish connections, but I knew John Bonham whose family owned Bessemer Trust which now occupies that building at 600 Steamboat Road.  Ogden Phipps family that are involved with Bessemer Trust know my friend who used to live in Sands Point, New York at W. Averill Harriman's sister's estate, and he used to also be in charge of the Jockey Club https://www.jockeyclub.com/ in Manhattan.  My friend that knew them is from East Aurora, New York outside of Buffalo, New York where all of the electricity comes from Niagara Falls, and back in the Fall of 1972, he and his family had me at the Fort Erie race track south of Toronto with the Queen Mum of England, so they have an Anglophile connection through his grandfather Jay Cogan that went to Sandhurst Military Academy in England and lived in Gladstone, New Jersey as president of the Illinois Central Railroad that my Grandfather Scott worked for sixty years as a railroad engineer and fireman on old steam locomotives that hauled lots of coal.  However, since nobody seems to use coal anymore, I guess that is not important.  Maybe we should have a railroad strike.  My grandfather Scott was heavily involved with the Brotherhood of Railway Workers which is supposed to be the best union in the United State of America.  On my first trip to Europe, I did get to ride on a lot of trains.  The Carnegie family probably sold steel to the railroads with their United States Steel business before J.P. Morgan bought out Carnegie, and the local Frick family with Bethlehem Steel probably sold them a lot of steel.  Andrew Carnegie was only five foot three inches tall, and he use to weave Harris Tweed cloth in Scotland before he came to America and worked for Tom Scott, the President of the Pennsylvania Railroad.  They still have the Carnegie Foundation I think in Manhattan.  On the Netflix series on the Medici family, I learned the Medici family in Italy used to use Scottish mercenaries, and that is probably why there is the Scottish Gate in Vienna, Austria, where one of the Medici woman became Queen besides another one being Queen of France.  I guess in the old days, there was a lot of money in wool

10/01/23 Sunday 3:05 A.M.  I practiced speaking slow Midwestern English unlike fast talking New Yorker English.  A lot of people whom think like to think before they talk.

I replaced the 15 watt bulbs in four Himalayan Salt lamps in the living room.

I am still waiting for my old Black and Decker Dust Buster to charge up before I use it.

In the Winter here when it is very cold to go outside, we sometimes like watching reruns of Ice Station Zebra and Dr. Zhivago which was playing on the first cable system in Manhattan in February 1982, when there was a minus 26 degree Fahrenheit wind chill outside, and as I recall I only had my $5 street parka with the colors of www.columbia.edu on it.  If it were not for Bobby Fink from Hollywood, Florida putting me up for a week above a little Episcopal Church on East 52nd street, I might have frozen to death.  It was a small studio apartment with a lot of heat.

I will now go outside and drink a brewed coffee.
