Note: <888> 10/31/04 Sunday 11:50 P.M.: I made and ate my usual salad www.geocities.com/mikelscott/salad.htm . Instead of tuna fish, I used a tin of sardines that I chopped. For the Cheddar cheese portion, I used Stop and Shop Swiss cheese and Stop and Shop Vermont extra sharp cheddar cheese. I used all of the other regular ingredients. I ate the salad with a glass of iced tea. I watched some television. I ate two black licorice sticks. While I was downtown walking, someone asked me where the Asiana cafe was, and I did not know where it was. It is suppose to be a Chinese restaurant. I guess it is the restaurant where the old Tucson's bar and restaurant used to be according to this directory Greenwich, Connecticut Chamber of Commerce Dining in Greenwich . CIO
Note: <888> 10/31/04 Sunday 9:40 P.M.: I was up at 2 P.M. this afternoon. I ate breakfast of oatmeal, toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I went back to bed until 5 P.M.. Last night I ate three black licorice twists, and when I woke up I ate two, and I just ate three. I chatted with a friend, and I left a message with another friend. I put out by the dumpster, my old Royal coffee maker that I bought at the Old Greenwich Rummage Room thrift shop for $2 about six years ago, and someone picked it up while I was out. The blue corduroy love seat is still there. I went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue including the train station area, and I sat out at various locations. I stopped by CVS, and I bought two 7 ounce bags of black licorice twists for $1.19 each plus .14 tax for $2.52 total. I then completed my walk. I sat out briefly. I then drove down by the waterfront. I just now returned home. I drank some iced tea. I mailed a letter downstairs in the mail room. CIO
Note: <888> 10/31/04 Sunday 4:55 A.M.: I did some regular internet work. I will now shut down the computer, and I will go to bed. CIO
Note: <888> 10/31/04 Sunday 3:00 A.M.: I just thought about something, that it is this time of year in the back country areas of this area, that more than likely the Mountain Lions, Panthers, Bob Cats and Cougars might be traveling through this area on their annual migration further south. However, since it currently warmer in this area than normal, they might linger in this area. Also I have been told around horses that a radio going in the barn is suppose to keep coyotes away, but I don't think that would stop a predator cat. This is based on many years of experience out at night in this area, and I don't care what any so called environmental read estate experts claim because their ultimate goal is to sell real estate. If you want to know how I know some of this, it is because it has been leaked from NASA and other satellite agencies that have the capability of tracking such wild life. It once use to be my opinion that if one kept a domestic cat around the house, the big cats would not bother one's environment, that is only conjecture, and I have nothing to prove it might work. CIO
Note: <888> 10/31/04 Sunday 2:25 A.M.: When I reset up the apartment, since there is hardly any room under the new sofa, I also put the folding wooden card table chair behind the directors chair, so it is handy to use. I also moved the warm unopened 48 ounce can of Stop and Shop tomato juice on the wire rack behind the apartment entrance door. It is next to the two old cans of the same tomato juice that I keep for eliminating skunk odor, should I ever be sprayed by a skunk at night. I have them labeled "Old Skunk Juice". It is unusual this summer and fall, I have not seen any skunks like I normally do all the time. As I said in my notes about nine months ago, when I was commenting on the large amount of skunks in the area, that I spotted a great horn owl in the trees by the baseball field, so more than likely we have more great horned owls in the area that area eating the skunks. Last year we had one skunk the size of raccoon, so maybe that was the head skunk, and maybe when it took off, all of the other skunks did too. Also with the increased traffic in the area, there might be more road kill. CIO
Note: <888> 10/31/04 Sunday 1:20 A.M.: Both sofas look so nice, I do not feel like lying on them. Hopefully, I will get use to relaxing on the new one soon. Of course, one will have to straighten up the cushions on the new one, which was not the case with the old blue one. CIO
Note: <888> 10/31/04 Sunday 1:05 A.M.: Also the old blue couch is still outside by the dumpster if anyone wants it. CIO
Note: <888> 10/31/04 Sunday 1:50 A.M.: Happy Halloween. I went outside twice. The second time I set the clock back on my Volvo an hour to end daylight savings time. I then came back upstairs, and I set back my clocks and watches in the apartment. Thus in ten minutes give or take, it will be 1 A.M. Eastern Standard Time ending daylight savings time. In other words, one will have a 25 hour day or an extra hour to sleep. CIO
Note: <888> 10/30/04 Saturday 11:55 P.M.: I went out after the last message. I went by the Greenwich Library, and I read the Greenwich Time. I then went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue including the train station area. I sat out at various locations. I used the bathroom at Starbucks after my walk. I then drove down by the waterfront. I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought two 10 ounce bars of Stop and Shop Vermont extra sharp cheddar cheese for $1.99, a 8 ounce container of Stop and Shop low fat grated parmesan cheese for $2.69, a 16 ounce bag of baby carrots for $1.50, a bag of fresh spinach for $1.99, fresh broccoli crowns at $1.69 a pound for $2.08, a 10 ounce box of fresh mushrooms for $2.29, a quart of plum tomatoes for $3.49 for $17.53 total. I then returned home. I put away my groceries. While going upstairs, I noticed they had discarded a sofa from the community room because, they put in a new long and matching love seat sofa in the community room. I went outside with my Husky 2.25 million watt rechargeable lantern, and I measured the sofa. It is 38 inches wide, 20 inches high, and 7 feet long. I figured it would fit into my apartment. A neighbor from across the street help me carry up the cushions, and I showed the neighbor my apartment. Then another stronger neighbor help me drag the sofa to my apartment building elevator. I then was helped to put it in the elevator. Then I took it out of my elevator myself, and I dragged it to the hallway near my apartment taking it up six steps. I then moved the mahogany end tables into the hallway, and I removed the items from underneath the short blue corduroy sofa, and I took the cushions off the corduroy sofa, and I put them in the hallway. I then brought the blue corduroy sofa out of the apartment. I then brought in the new longer sofa. I put it in the same location as the other sofa. I then moved the maple side board further down towards the French reproduction sitting chair. I then put one mahogany end table along side the near end of the new sofa, and I put one of the small brass and glass end tables in front of it at the same end. I then put the other mahogany end table facing out towards the door from behind the new sofa backed against the maple side table. I then put all of the bric a brac and other items back in their same place as before. I put the backgammon game underneath the new sofa at the far end. I put the 3 packs of Perrier to the side and underneath the directors chair. I sprayed the new sofa with Febreze to freshen it. I put the black and white checked comforter along the back side of the new sofa with the blue and the grey knit comforter on top of it. I put two of the large beige pillows from the other green sofa at either end of the new sofa with the strawberry pillow in the middle. The two large green pillows that were on either end of the blue sofa, I put on either end of the green sofa with the third large beige pillow in the middle. I had to recenter the large brass and glass coffee table. The box of 500 legal envelopes from Staples, I put underneath the bedroom bed. I then took the blue corduroy sofa back downstairs the same way, and I left it by the dumpster. I then brought down the blue corduroy sofa cushions, and I put them on the sofa by the dumpster. The new sofa has down filled cushions, and it has a nice slightly worn but still in good shape beige with autumn leaf design of rose olive and gold which have a slight peach glow. Underneath the slip cover is a gold olive corduroy fabric. Since I am 6 feet tall, a 7 foot long sofa is more comfortable. Also since it is in the center of the room, it does not get the winter drafts that the long green sofa gets in front of the high outside windows with the elevated ceiling creating a large draft on cold winter days. It all looks quite inviting and quite comfortable by New York City Metropolitan Pied A Terre apartment standards. I chatted with a relative, and I told the relative what I had done. I started up the primary computer again, and the Siemens router did not work again, so I connected the cable modem directly to the primary computer motherboard LAN. Well, anyway if it is still there my old blue corduroy love seat that I paid $50 for at the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop about 10 years ago is out at the dumpster getting a slightly misty cleaning. I have washed the cushion covers and spary the blue sofa with upholstery cleaner twice in the last ten year, and most recently it was done about three years ago. CIO

The TCP Optimizer program from www.speedguide.net possibly changed some of my Motorola Surfboard Cable Modem settings. I used the Optimum Online setup disk, and I reinstalled the Cable Modem entering my account number. Right now the Siemens router is working properly. I also changed the LAN cable from my Siemens router to the LAN port on the computer. I am not sure if it is a permanent fix or not. The Symantec Security check though shows the Ping Port is now open, so I will see if in the Siemens Router setup, I can shut it. CIO

Note: <888> 10/30/04 Saturday 10:05 A.M.: I chatted with a relative at 9 P.M. last night. I was up at 7 A.M. this morning. I had breakfast of oatmeal, toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. It seems it will be a rainy day today. This Sunday morning October 31, 2004 Halloween morning at 2 A.M. daylight savings time ends, and at 2 A.M., one sets back their clocks to 1 A.M.. I ran Ad-ware SE http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/ , I then downloaded and installed The home of Spybot-S&D!. Spybot froze, when I went to remove the detected items at the "C2.lop" files, so I used the Advanced features, and I selected "C2.lop" to be ignored. Spybot then ran successfully. I then used this download http://lop.com/help.html#how to uninstall "C2.lop". Thus hopefully my system is free of Spyware. I also ran Bazooka Bazooka™ Adware and Spyware Scanner - Free spyware scanner , and it did not detect any spyware. I also uninstalled the Microsoft Intellipoint 5.0 mouse driver, and I ran Norton WinDoctor 2003, and I rebooted. I will now send out my weekly notes. CIO
Note: <888> 10/29/04 Friday 7:50 P.M.: Well, I ate three pieces of black licorice twists. I will now shut down the computer, and I will go to bed soon. CIO
Note: <888> 10/29/04 Friday 7:40 P.M.: Well, I dare say, since it will be a cold winter up north, somebody will be drinking Rum in the North Country, so ergo whomever sells and distributes rum, more than likely should be able to pay their bills providing they have reputable, honest, sober accountants whom don't drink the Rum themselves. CIO

Note: <888> 10/29/04 Friday 5:55 P.M.: Earlier today when the mail arrived, I received the three cartons of Seneca Ultra Lights 100s that I ordered from http://www.smokemcheapcigarettes.com/ for $11 a carton plus $6 postage, which I paid $39 total for when I ordered them this past Sunday. They came in a three carton package instead of a larger box, so I guess people frequently order three cartons, which if one were a pack a day smoker would be about a month's supply. Recently, I think I have been smoking a little bit more, but I have not been keeping track. I moved the directors chair from beside the television chest, and I cleaned out and sorted through all of the empty electronics boxes. I saved the instructions and any spare parts, and I put them in a double thick plastic bag back in the cabinet on the left side, and I also took the bags of more recent electronics instructions and spare parts from underneath the bed, and I put it in the same place in the television cabinet in front of the other bag. I have lots of 5.25" floppy disk holders with 5.25 inch floppy disks on the right side of the cabinet along with the back side left of the cabinet. I also put the three 3.5 inch floppy disk holders on top of the electronics information and parts bags. I put back the directors chair in the same spot adjacent to the cabinet. To get into the false ceiling above the antique French chair slightly in front, I use the small solid wool oak table from the kitchen as a step latter. I did not use the folding wooden card table chair, which I now keep underneath the far rear of the blue sofa. With my current weight of 214 pounds by my bathroom scale, it would be risky to use the folding card table chair. I threw out the old electronics boxes, but I did save in the cabinet some small boxes that might be useful for shipping at some time in the future. CIO
Note: <888> 10/29/04 Friday 4:10 P.M.: I cracked three eggs, and I mixed them with a whisk in a steel bowl with a couple of tablespoons of milk, and I used my 10 inch omelet pan, and I put in a couple of tablespoons of olive oil and a couple pads of margarine, and I heated it over medium high electric burner, and I put in the egg mixture, and I reduced the heat to a small bit below medium, and I let the omelet cook until it was solid enough to turn over, and I flipped it with a spatula, and I added on both sides two 1/4 inch sliced plum tomatoes and five 8 1.5 inch by 1 inch by 3/16th inch slices of Stop and Shop Swiss cheese, and I put it on plate, and I aded a thin layer of grated parmesan cheese. I ate with it two pieces of toast each spread with two slices of margarine and cut in half. I also had a glass of iced tea with it. I wiped the omelet pan with a paper towel to keep it seasoned instead of washing it. CIO
Note: <888> 10/29/04 Friday 2:40 P.M.: There was another attempt to connect to my computer using the Netbus Trojan with Symantec www.symantec.com Norton Internet Security 2004 detected and blocked. I finished my house cleaning and watering the plants. I also cleaned the burners on the General Electric stove. I also cleaned the edges around the kitchen sink with CVS bleach spray and a old tooth brush. I went outside, and I threw out the garbage. I picked up mail. I received notification from the Connecticut Department of Social Services that because of funding cut backs, there would be a decrease in the NEON energy assistance program. Thus for what funds are available, individuals should apply earlier. I guess my karma with Saudi Arabia is running out, so I put the Saudi Arabian flag back up on the center hallway bookcase. One always hangs it with the sword upright on the left side for anyone else whom happens to own one but does not know how to hang or drape a Saudi Arabian flag. I also locked the Red Cross Emergency supplies liquor cabinet with a chain and pad lock. Although we still have visitors from Florida around and summer residents whom live in Florida in the winter, none of them seem to know me, since during my recent years in Florida up until 1982, I spent all of my time living outside during the winter, when I was younger and much fitter. However, since they are basically still fighting the Civil War down there, they like the Scott family from Virginia, but they are not too friendly with the Scott family from Illinois. Needless coming from a family from Illinois and Michigan, I will probably survive the warmer winters in Connecticut. Of course the last time I lived in Illinois up until 1972, number 2 fuel oil was only 12 cents a gallon, and I was earning over $200 a week plus other part time activities like selling antique Mercedes, so I could afford my $55 a month rent on the farm next to the Knollwood Country Club in Lake Forest, Illinois, and I could afford to eat out for breakfast every morning at Jim Mitchell's restaurant for $2, and I could afford to fill up my gasoline tank with Amoco now owned by British Petroleum gasoline which back then was about 29 cents a gallon, and I could afford to go to the movie for $1.25, and I could afford to get my hair cut for $2, and I could afford to buy salmon steaks at the Lakeside Food market for 39 cents a pound, and I could afford to take Bachelors of Arts degree in Conservative Economics at Lake Forest College, and I could afford to buy a six pack of Schlitz beer for .59, and I could afford a .35 one ounce Old Crow or Jim Beam bourbon on a cold night which I drank with ice and a few ounces of Canada Dry ginger ale, and I could afford my $200 a year Allstate automobile insurance, and I could afford to have dress shirts cleaned and pressed at the Chinese laundry for .35, and I could afford to have sports jackets dry cleaned for a dollar, and I could afford to have pants cleaned and pressed for .50, and I could afford student passes on most airlines to anywhere in the United States for $50, and I could afford $5 oil changes, and I could afford, studying in Europe which was much cheaper, and I could afford keeping a St. Bernard dog, which ate 50 pound bags of dried dog food along with canned dogged food, and I could afford to go down to Chicago and have a drink and play backgammon, and I could afford chat with friends and relatives and never have a phone bill over $20, and I could afford to furnish the entire farm house with furniture from the Salvation Army in Waukegan, Illinois delivered for about a total of $50, and I could afford cruise around to explore the local area on the north shore of Chicago, Illinois in one of my vintage Mercedes, and I could afford eat hamburgers at McDonalds for .15 each along with French fries for .15 and a coke for a dime, and I could afford to buy half gallons of frozen concentrated orange juice for .29, and I could afford to support small charities, and I could afford to buy my own books new a for a few dollars, but text books were more expensive at around $20 apiece, and I could afford to throw parties for my friends and neighbors and offer hospitality, and I could afford to go to public events, and I could afford to travel on the railroad, and I could afford know other people who supposedly could afford to do things, and I could afford to express my personal opinion. Thus since I am more economically insecure, I am more reserved, and since I also having majored in Economics, individuals or large groups of individuals whom are tremendously in Debt, frequently try to create mass inflation, so their debt is less expensive to pay off, thus since the United States of America is the largest debtor around here along with United States citizens, more than likely the United States government is creating mass inflation to lessen its debt obligations. Obviously back then I could also afford to buy new shoes, and since I am more frugal in my older years, even if I had the money I would still be frugal. The motto for the town of Greenwich, Connecticut is "Frugality and Fortune" which translated into British English is "Penny Thrifty and Pound Foolish". Whatever the case coming from a family that has lived around this area for close to 400 years, I think I will manage to survive for the rest of my life here, but if need be the trees might not. Well all of the experts from other parts don't seem to have the local experience here to deal with outside elements on a four seasons basis, but like when there are more Spanish from warmer areas in the summer here, there are more French Canadians from colder areas here in the winter. I will have to remember to dress warmly whenever I go outside. CIO
Note: <888> 10/29/04 Friday 8:55 A.M.: I am in the process of doing my house cleaning. I did a special cleaning of the Water Pik and Braun electric toothbrush. I used an old tooth brush to clean them better with CVS spray bleach cleaner. I also cleaned the rust from around the bathroom sink with an old tooth brush and steel scouring pad. I am a little slow moving this morning. I ate 14 Town House crackers with 3/4 inch by 1.25 inch by 1/4 inch slices of Stop and Shop Swiss cheese. I checked on the customer service hotline for my $120 rebate on my previously owned Hyundai, and the rebate is only good at a Hyundai dealership and not until November 15, 2004. Someone from out in the nether world of the internet tried to connect to my computer with the Netbus trojan Netbus trojan thus although Norton Internet Security 2004 caught it and stopped it, my computer is not entirely shielded if outside intruders can attempt to attack it. I suppose because I am backing www.georgewbush.com , liberal computer people like those around MIT have tried to attack my computer. However, I should remind them MIT is not too comfortable if it is not heated in the winter. I read in the New York Times a liberal publication when I last visited Kennebunkport, Maine in September while the President was there that Bill Gates is backing George W. Bush. Also I have a feeling that the old dirty tricks don't work anymore. Since because of my previous work history, my internet activity is constantly monitored by the United States government, any intruders into my internet activity would also be monitored and eventually apprehended. I would advise any internet intruders to read one James Bamford's books on the National Security agency, if they think their Mickey Mouse computers are that stealthfully secured. Well, I was also told that the Stop and Shop company also owned by the Dutch company Ahold also owns the Costco www.costco.com warehouse shopping chain, so I might some time soon take out a Costco card for about $45, since it is only about a mile from me, and it would more than likely offer me some savings. However, I do not have much room in my apartment for storage and stocking up. CIO
Note: <888> 10/29/04 Friday 7:05 A.M.: I chatted with a friend. I will now do my house cleaning and watering the plants. CIO
Note: <888> 10/29/04 Friday 6:10 A.M.: I was up at 3 A.M. this morning. I ate breakfast of oatmeal with a sliced banana, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I connected the Siemens router to my computer and cable modem, and the computer would not go online. I finally connected the computer back up directly to the cable modem. I chatted with Optimum Online, and they have not changed any of the hardware or software settings. Technically it could be a problem with the Siemens router, but I can not afford the expense of replacing it at this time. I paid about $30 for it, since it was on sale about three years ago at CompUSA for $20 off from $100 with a $50 mail in rebate. It had a two year warranty. Anyway it does seem to take a little bit longer to log onto the internet when I first boot up with the computer connected directly to the cable modem, so maybe this is effecting the Siemens router. Well, Thank God Its Friday, so this morning it is now time for house keeping and watering the plants. I noticed this story which might be of interest to any waterfront types TCPalm: Harbor Branch tours are no more . There are a lot of people from Nantucket around the Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution since they were funded by the Johnson family foundation and members of the Johnson family also lived by the Jetties Beach in Nantucket. Nautical types seem to like going North and South like snow birds. I hear tell people are now returning back to Florida for the winter. To see how Florida fits into the rest of the world try NRL Monterey Satellite Photos and remember if one speaks English that England is further north than Hudson's Bay, Canada, so the English tend to be a cold weather group of people. CIO
Note: <888> 10/28/04 Thursday 8:00 P.M.: I ate two black licorice twists when I first returned home, and I just ate four black licorice twists. I will now shut down the computer, and I will go to bed. I have been awake for 27 hours. I will do my house cleaning when I wake up tomorrow. I have a theory that the warmer weather that we have experienced recently is just an earlier Indian Summer than normal. The flowers are still out, and the leaves have not turned. However, normally Indian Summer is about mid November, and to have it three weeks earlier might mean a colder winter. I think Indian Summer is caused when the oceans in the southern hemisphere start to heat up this time of year, and they send warmer waters north in the northerly currents, and if one lives by the ocean, one experiences a brief spell of warmer weather before winter sets in. CIO
Note: <888> 10/28/04 Thursday 7:15 P.M.: I went out after the last message. I went downtown, and I sat out for a while. I went by the Merry Go Round Mews thrift shop, and I toured the store. I then made my 3 P.M. appointment. I next went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop. Everything is half price. I bought a pair of tan www.llbean.com 6 inch high size 10 winter boots like those L.L.Bean: Bean Boots by L.L.Bean®, Men's 6" for $5. They are in very good condition almost like new. I am actually foot size 9 1/2 width C, but with heavier winter socks, the boots should fit me just fine. I also bought a pale yellow and pale blue with thin cherry stripes chair pillow for $1.50. It has grids on the bottom side, so it won't slip. Thus I spent $6.50. Since I was tired, I forgot to get a receipt. I then returned home. I had a message on my answering machine from a relative. I put the L.L. Bean boots in my right living room closet with my other shoes. I put the decorative chair pillow on the directors chair, so it feels more comfortable. I relaxed a bit. I took the DeLonghi toaster oven baking tray, and I put the toaster oven on broil, and I put Hellmann's mayonnaise on two slices of bread, and I covered each piece of bread with three 1.25 inch by four inch by 1/8th inch slices of Stop and Shop Swiss cheese, and I seasoned its with Italian seasoning and a small amount of celery salt, and I heated it under the toaster oven broiler until it melted the cheese a bit without it running. I ate them for dinner with some iced tea. I reset the DeLonghi toaster oven to toast. When using the DeLonghi toaster oven because it generates heat, one has to have the kitchen stove fan on high, and frequently it sets off one of my own two smoke alarms in the apartment by the entrance but not the central building smoke detector system, so one has to be tall enough to reset the smoke alarm on the cieling even though it just goes off from the heat not smoke. One should know that heat rises. I tried starting the primary computer with the Siemens router, and it would not go online. Since it worked during the slow time this morning, there is something wrong with Optimum Online's service as it relates to my Siemens router, which they are not willing to deal with or have not figured out. Since it happens during busier times of the day, I would imagine the problem is with the Optimum Online service, and it has changed their setup. It does take a longer now for the computer when connected directly to the cable modem to go on line, so perhaps it is increased activity with Optimum Online usage, which I have never had problems with before. I think in the Advanced Siemens router setup program, one can set the time for it to search for an IP address, which with a longer time, it might still work during the busier time of the day. For now, I will leave the cable modem connected directly to the computer. CIO

Note: <888> 10/28/04 Thursday 12:25 P.M.: I am microwaving a 16 ounce Maria Callender breaded chicken parmesan dinner, which I will eat with a glass of iced tea. CIO
Note: <888> 10/28/04 Thursday 12:05 P.M.: I brought the Queen Anne chair downstairs, and my relative ran into some traffic which is not unusual for this area. They arrived here about 11:30 A.M., and they picked up the Queen Anne chair to take up to Kennebunkport, Maine http://www.geocities.com/mikelscott/137.htm to deliver to another relatives house. They put it in their Volvo sideways which is a new larger one than mine, so the driver could see out of the driver's side rear window. They left here about 11:45 P.M. to stop by Starbucks on Greenwich Avenue for coffee. They said there was major construction on I-84, so they are going to take the Merritt Parkway to I-91 and assume go the same way that I always go from Hartford, Connecticut. I called another relative to let them know that they had picked up the Queen Anne chair. I still have a 3 P.M. appointment today, so I will probably be going to bed after that. CIO
Note: <888> 10/28/04 Thursday 10:20 A.M.: One of my relatives called, and they will be here in about 30 minutes. I have a 3 P.M. appointment today, so after they leave, I will take a nap and then go out to my 3 P.M. appointment. I had a lot of sleep this week, so I should have no problems staying up that long. I was up at 5 P.M. last evening. CIO
Note: <888> 10/28/04 Thursday 9:45 A.M.: I put some more Heinz white vinegar in a bowl on the living room window shelf for scent control in the apartment. My relatives should be here shortly to pick up the Queen Anne chair. CIO
Note: <888> 10/28/04 Thursday 9:15 A.M.: I don't think it is safe to have a pointed object sticking up in the middle of the living room walk way, so I move the large French flag to on top of the Danish bar in the glass popcorn bowl. CIO
Note: <888> 10/28/04 Thursday 9:10 A.M.: I moved my large 8 inch by 12 inch French flag from on top of the computer speakers to the maple side table with the other smaller flags. It has a dangerous point on the end of it, so one has to be careful not to fall against it. CIO
Note: <888> 10/28/04 Thursday 8:55 A.M.: A few day ago, I filled the Australian Outback Survivor canteen hanging from the brass hat and coat rack behind the apartment entrance door with Brita filtered water to have available should we not have fresh water. CIO
Note: <888> 10/28/04 Thursday 8:45 A.M.: I moved the folding oak table in front of the book case below the stereo system back into the stand with other folding oak tables. I put the CD rack with the CDs to the left of the stand. I put the telephone books on top of the stand. I put the folding wood and black canvas directors chair in front of the folding oak table stand, so it is available for seating at that location. Since it is not too big one has access to the stereo system, the books, and CDs. One can also move it easily if one wants to open up the four foot by four foot by 20 inch cabinet that the stereo speakers and Orion television sits on. Presently I just have a lot of old 5.25 inch floppy disk cases and old 5.25 inch floppy disks stored in it. I also have a large number of empty boxes from electronics purchased in it. If I cleaned it out, I would be able to use it for more useful storage, but now with the Queen Anne chair not in that location, it is more easily accessible with the light folding directors chair in that location. I have nicked named the large cabinet the Princess Diana memorial television cabinet, since I bought it the Saturday morning at the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop before she passed away. I was so exhausted after being up all that previous night that after carrying it into my car and carrying it up to my apartment, I slept until my eldest sister called me about 1 A.M. that Sunday morning to tell me that Princess Diana had been in a car wreck, so it has a bit of sentimental value. I have not looked in it in so long, one never knows what one will fine, but I think it is mostly empty boxes and possibly the instructions for some of the electronics. The directors chair is not as comfortable as the Queen Anne chair, but if I ever had a number of people over at my apartment, it would be considered comfortable enough along with the other furnishings. My relatives plans to have it reupholstered and use it in their house in Maine where it originally came from after being in another relatives house and my apartment. CIO
Note: <888> 10/28/04 Thursday 7:55 A.M.: I threw out some garbage. I also connected the 8 port Ethernet switch on top of the Dell backup computer directly to the Siemens router, and I also have the Dell backup computer now connected directly to the Siemens router, so one does not need to turn on the Ethernet port for the Dell to go online. CIO
Note: <888> 10/28/04 Thursday 7:35 A.M.: The AMD backup computer in the bedroom in running just fine. It goes online when one has the cable modem turned on and the Siemens router turned on and one turns on the Linksys hub in the bedroom by turning on the power strip between the computers on the left side of the desk. The power strip is behind the Radio Shack speaker phone. Also a couple of days ago, I moved the second power strip from the floor by the living room desk to the right side of the primary computer, and I have it plugged into the control panel router switch, and I have the Siemens router transformer plugged into that power strip. I am running some updates on the AMD backup computer in the bedroom. Well for now the Siemens router seems to be working. Maybe one just has to let it warm up for a minute before turning on the primary computer. However, it could be that with so many devices connected to routers and hubs on Optimum Online's service, they are running out of IP addresses. CIO
Note: <888> 10/28/04 Thursday 6:35 A.M.: At the moment the Siemens router is working properly. With primary computer turned off, I followed the Optimum Online instructions, and I first turned on the cable modem until the four green lights were all lit up. I then turned on the Siemens router, and I let it warm up for over a minute, and when I started the primary computer, it went online without any problems. I will now setup the Cmos settings on the AMD backup computer, and see if it goes online in the bedroom. I once ran it at 450 Mhz which is the processor speed, but it would occassionally freeze, so I lowered its Cmos setting to 366 Mhz. It seems like its Cmos battery runs out in it less than a year, which means there might be a power drain, or maybe I just lost track of time. CIO
Note: <888> 10/28/04 Thursday 6:10 A.M.: I replaced the Lithium 3 volt #2032 Cmos battery in the bedroom AMD 450 MHz computer running at 366 Mhz on the bedroom desk. I will now shut down the primary computer and cable modem to see if I can get the Siemens router working, so the backup computers work online. CIO
Note: <888> 10/28/04 Thursday 5:30 A.M.: I put the ice tea in the refrigerator. Since about Labor Day in 1990 when I bought my first personal computer a Apple IIE for $100 at a tag sale on Round Hill Road from somebody whom worked for J.P. Morgan from Belgium, I have been using personal computers regularly since then. I replaced the Apple IIE with a PC DOS computer that November which I bought in New Canaan, Connecticut for $250 from somebody from Holland, Michigan and Lake Forest, Illinois, and it was an Compaq 286. Thus times have changed in the personal computer activities for me. After 14 years of personal computer activity, I have a certain level of professional experience, which not everyone just buying a new personal computer would necessarily have. Also in my formal education, I learned a bit about some of the engineering principals that computers are involved with. I recall those first few years of personal computers before I went online with Netcom on the internet, I use to dial up computer bulletin boards BBS computers and download files. One of them was in Old Greenwich, Connecticut which was a local telephone call run by Jimmy Bolster, and it had lots of files on astronomy. I later lost my telephone usage for a couple of years because of an $850 telephone bill over time from calling up computer bulletin boards long distance. One of the retired volunteers now diseased that I use to chat with occasionally had taught physics at Columbia University for 50 years and held a PHD degree from Harvard University in Physics. He was not very impressed with the internet as it was evolving. Still I think Jimmy Bolster ended up at one of the world's top observatories in Argentina, and the lunar eclipse reminded me tonight that the computers for some people are just another tool in their profession. This story Next-gen Data Center Forum SGI, Intel Build NASA Supercomputer at Next-gen Data Center Forum and SGI - Press Releases: NASA, SGI and Intel Build and Deploy 'Columbia' in Record Time: New Supercomputer World's Most Powerful and SGI recently reminded me that the tech people on the west coast of the United States of America seem to get all the funding, while we here on the east coast are just left with week old broccoli from California. Of course since I met the head of Xerox Parc in California in 1980 on my last trip there, I suppose despite the fact that he looked like Governor Nelson Rockefeller of New York, he might have had some technical expertise in the computer field, but at the time the people around him were building the twin nuclear reactors at San Onofre, California, so there were quite a few electricians around at the time. I still can figure out why Optimum Online's internet service is not letting my Siemens router work, so I can have the backup computers all on line in an emergency too. I obviously have to have them online to maintain them too. CIO

However, for those of you whom have never seen the ocean before, Tod's Point is more breath taking off Old Greenwich, Connecticut, but there is an admission charge for out of towners until December 1. However, usually if one gets there at sunrise when the gate is first opened, there is usually not anyone at the gate, so one can get in for free. CIO
Note: <888> 10/28/04 Thursday 4:10 A.M.: Of course anyone in the Orange Juice crowd might find this story interesting Boat show drops anchor again in Fort Lauderdale: South Florida Sun-Sentinel . Having lived around the waterfront for most of my life, I alas do not know how to operate a boat, since I am not a good swimmer, I am afraid to go out on the water. However, when I once tried to get a job on a boat in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, I ended up starving on the beach in Fort Lauderdale where I arrived the third week of September 1976 after going out to buy frozen orange juice at the A&P where the Food Emporium is now in Greenwich, Connecticut, when I left the A&P that evening, I just kept driving until I reached Fort Lauderdale, Florida beach. It was warm about the first week there, then it got cold, and by Thanksgiving Day that year, it was 21 degrees Fahrenheit in Fort Lauderdale, Florida at 7 A.M. according to the bank sign next to the Swimming Hall of Fame. Of course there were some Nordic people around, since King Olaf of Norway was visiting the area. One can imagine how cold it was back up north. I weighed 185 pound when I arrived in Fort Lauderdale having lived in Greenville, South Carolina the previous winter working for Daniel Construction before it became part of Fluor Daniel construction. I used to regularly go to the Winn Dixie supermarket nearby in Greenville, South Carolina, and I would eat lots of Carolina steaks. However, when my unemployment compensation did not finally arrive in Florida until April of 1977, I was down to about 125 pounds, but I was a very good swimmer at the lesser weight. I recall the head lifeguard on Fort Lauderdale beach drove a Cherry Red Porsche with Colorado license plate "COORS" , so on those colder days he was comfortable on the colder Fort Lauderdale beach. I knew someone from Cheshire, Connecticut and someone else from Lewiston, Maine and they were comfortable on the cooler days. I suppose when one's blood thins out in Florida during the winter in the warmer climates, when one comes back north as I found out it is hard to adjust to the colder temperatures. I recall when working that following summer at the Gordon Folger Hotel, I found the pot scrubbing over a couple of sinks of hot water next to the heavy cast iron stove a bit warm and comfortable compared to the cool Nantucket June weather. Thus it depends on what one is use to. When I first returned to Manhattan after having graduated from college at Lake Forest College www.lfc.edu in Lake Forest, Illinois, I had spent the previous winter not in Illinois but southern Europe, so I was use to warmer weather. However having spent three winters in Illinois and living in Boston, I was also use to cold weather, and I would frequently walk around those first winters in New York without a winter coat and wear Sperry top siders without socks which was the current fashion. I do recall wearing a wood sports jacket and sweater. As the L.L. Bean www.llbean.com web site says, there is no such thing as cold weather if one is dressed properly for it. CIO

Sounds good, but I have to watch my cholesterol. Of course one could just go down to West 14th street on the Hudson River in Manhattan, and see if any of the local meat packers can spare some beef on the hook. I spent a lot of years walking around the meal packing district in Manhattan, and I have seen many a side of beef being delivered into that city on many a cold night. I also recall there was a steak house nearby called the Old Homestead http://www.oldhomesteadrestaurant.com/ , but their web site seems to be not working at the moment. Of course locally here in Greenwich, Connecticut down on the waterfront, I think we still have Maneros http://www.maneros-greenwichct.com/ , which might have a little beef available if one happens to have a little extra American wampum. Note: <888> 10/27/04 Wednesday 11:55 P.M.: I went out after the last message. I went by the Greenwich Library, and I read the Greenwich Time and the new issue of P.C. Magazine about multimedia computers. I already have my computer set up as a multimedia computer with it hooked up to my stereo system and my primary television. I was bothered by a fly while trying to read in the Greenwich Library. It is unusual for them to be around this time of year. I next drove down by the waterfront, and I chatted with a former neighbor. Some fishermen were out there, but they were not having very much luck. I think the blue fish and striped bass season is just about over. I left the waterfront about 9 P.M.. I then used the bathroom at Starbucks. I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue including the train station area, and I sat out at various locations. I noticed two NBC News 30 trucks http://www.nbc30.com/index.html setting up a broadcast in front of the senior and arts center, but other than that it was a quiet night. I next went by the Food Emporium, and I toured the store more thoroughly looking for items that I might normally not notice. I bought a America Cooks Stainless Steel 2 tablespoons coffee scoop for $1.49 plus .09 tax for $1.58 total. I chatted with one of the regular night time store employees about different companies represented at their store. I also chatted with another regular customer. I showed the regular customer my Volvo. I then returned home. I put the Queen Anne chair out in the hallway with a note saying it will be picked up at around 10 A.M. Thursday morning. I drank some iced tea. I put the new coffee scoop by the new Braun coffee machine. I had two messages on my answering machine from relatives and another from a friend. I enjoyed watching the lunar eclipse while walking Greenwich Avenue, but it was a bit too cold and damp to watch it down by the waterfront, besides it says one is not suppose to park there after 9 P.M.. CIO

I ate breakfast of oatmeal with sliced banana, toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I went back to bed until 5 P.M. At 2 P.M., I had a recorded message from http://www.shaysforcongress.org/ . There is a total lunar eclipse tonight starting at Eastern Daylight time about 9:15 P.M. and going on for about two hours. When I woke up at 5 P.M., I moved the Queen Anne chair from in front of the stereo system to the apartment entry area, and there is about 10 inches on either side of it to get around it. I will put it out in the hallway, when I return from my walk this evening. My relatives will pick it up at about 10 A.M. on Thursday morning. I moved the New Zealand sheep's skin throw from it, and I put it on the French sitting chair. I put the small pillow that says "With My Luck When My Ship Comes in, I will be at the Airport" on the French reproduction sitting chair. From the bedroom entrance, I move the stand with four small solid oak folding tables to beneath the stereo system, and I set out one of the folding tables in front of the stand. I moved the upright CD rack to the right of that small table. I have the new telephone books on the floor underneath the folding table. I also have my brief case there. I will throw out the old telephone books. I put the green pillow with a strawberry on it on the blue sofa in the center. Thus the bookcase with all of its books beneath the stereo system is open, and the folding table does not have anything on it, and it is easy to get at the stereo system. I put the 17 inch Dell computer monitor at the bedroom entrance on top of the Rubbermaid hamper with my pants that are two small for me. Thus the bedroom entrance is a little bit more open. I ate two black licorice twists. I will now shut down the computer. I will eat a peanut butter sandwich with a glass of iced tea. I will then shower and clean up and go out. CIO

Note: <888> 10/26/04 Tuesday 11:30 P.M.: While touring the Greenwich Hardware store today http://www.greenwichhardware.com/ , I was told that Bill Clark a local Greenwich Historian, Author, and Representative Town Meeting representative for the central Greenwich district is coming out with a new $150 book on the History of Greenwich, Connecticut which is illustrated with water colors. Since Bill has told me he is distantly related to the British Royal family, and since he was well educated at Harvard University www.harvard.edu , perhaps he got Prince Charles http://www.princeofwales.gov.uk/ to paint some of the water colors if he ever happened to come through this area. I suppose Bill would know that Judge Clark's family in Bedford, New York are one of the earliest families in this area, so perhaps Bill is related to them, and anyone settling in Bedford, New York more than likely would have to come through Greenwich, Connecticut first. I have mentioned before that John Jay's John Jay Homestead near Bedford, New York mother was a Scott, so perhaps I am distantly related to John Jay, and therefore distantly related to Bill Clark, and therefore distantly related to the British Royal family. However, from my family history in Champaign, Illinois, I think I am related to the Winfield Scott branch of the family. The Scott family in Virginia were one of the earliest settlers with a land grant for half of the area of Virginia. Winfield Scott help start the United States Military academy at West Point, New York, and he is buried there. He was also 6 foot 4 inches tall, which for his time was tall. He also had town house in New York City across from the Forbes building just west of Fifth Avenue on 13th street, which today is the Italian Studies Institute for New York University. However, since the Scott family name was the family name of the Marquis of Queensbury, and since in England a Marquis is the highest rank of nobility after the Royal family, and there are only two Marquis in England, that because of premogeniture, possibly younger sons of the Marquis of Queensbury settled in Virginia and New York, so possibly all of those branches of the Scott family are related. Of course after 400 years in this country, they would have a lot of relatives not to mention late arrivals and those left back in the Eastern Hemisphere. CIO

I guess the Siemens router opens up the ping port. I printed out this page Answer Optimum Online Router Problem , which I might try later. I suppose without the Siemens router not connected to my system, I might actually have better security. However, since someone or program tried to install Back Orifice, it would appear that somehow someone on the internet or Optimum online network is trying to penetrate my system. CIO
Note: <888> 10/26/04 Tuesday 9:55 P.M.: I cracked three eggs, and I mixed them with a whisk in a steel bowl with a couple of tablespoons of milk, and I used my 10 inch omelet pan, and I put in a couple of tablespoons of olive oil and a couple pads of margarine, and I heated it over medium high electric burner, and I put in the egg mixture, and I reduced the heat to a small bit below medium, and I let the omelet cook until it was solid enough to turn over, and then I flipped it with a spatula, and I added on one half side two 1/4 inch sliced plum tomatoes and five 2 inch by 1 inch by 1/8th inch slices of Kraft Monterey Jack cheese, and I folded the uncovered side over the side with the cheese and tomatoes, and I put it on plate, and I added on top eight more 1/4 inch slices of plum tomatoes and three more slices of cheese along with a thin layer of grated parmesan cheese. I ate with it two pieces of toast each spread with two slices of margarine and cut in half. I also had a glass of iced tea with it. I wiped the omelet pan with a paper towel to keep it seasoned instead of washing it. I chatted with a relative. When I got the Volvo I also got a set of four snow tires on steel rims, but they only have about 3/32nds of an inch of tread left on them, so I will not be using them. Since I can not afford to buy two complete sets of tires, I will more than likely next year when the current low profile tires wear out which are on the metal alloy wheels, I will try to get a set off all season tires for the metal alloy wheels if they are available, thus I will only have to rotate the tires from front to back instead of changing them with the seasons. Note: <888> 10/26/04 Tuesday 8:40 P.M.: I was up at 1 P.M. this afternoon. I ate breakfast of oatmeal with a sliced banana, toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I checked the mail. I cleaned up, and I went out. I went by the Arnold Bread outlet, and I bought a loaf of Arnold Stone Ground whole grain bread for $1.35 and a 6 ounce box of Arnold regular cut seasoned croutons for .99 for $2.34 total. I then stopped by Grass Island, and I noticed they have repaved the road with new asphalt at Grass Island, and they are putting in new top soil for landscaping the areas with grass and bushes, so they are sprucing up the area. Last summer they put in new granite curb stones along the drive. I noticed in the Volvo that the ABS light was on, and the blinkers did not work. I finally figured out, when one starts the Volvo, when one first turns it on before starting the starter motor, one has to wait for a few seconds for the ABS light to go out, and then when one starts the starter motor, all of the electronics start up properly including the blinkers and other lights and all the dashboard lights go out including the ABS light. I next drove down by the waterfront on Steamboat Road. I then went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop, and most of their merchandise is half price. I then went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue including the train station area. I stopped by the Greenwich Hardware store on the way. I stopped by CVS, and I bought a 7 ounce bag of black licorice twists for $1.19 plus .07 tax for $1.26. I used the bathroom at the Senior and Arts center after my walk. I noticed a Fox News New York Truck http://www.fox5ny.com/ in front of the senior center. I next went by the Greenwich Library, and another library user gave me a "GW04" sticker that I had asked for. I put it on the tailgate rear lower driver's side window just above the Republican elephant. I then read the Greenwich Time, P.C. Magazine, and Smart Computing Magazine. I then returned home, and I drank some iced tea. When I started the primary computer, the Siemens router would not assign an IP address again for the system to go online. After fiddling with the configuration for a while to no avail, I uninstalled the Network and the onboard RealTech LAN drivers, and I shut down, and I connected the primary computer onboard RealTech LAN directly to the cable modem bypassing the Siemens router. I then booted the system, and it just installed the TCP/IP stack which is all that I need for going online, and I did not install the Microsoft Networks option. Thus the computer is running fine now, but I am not networked at the moment to the backup computers. I can not figure out what the problem is, but with Optimum Online, recently they are slow at assigning the IP addresses even when not connected to the Siemens router, so maybe this effected the performance of the Siemens router, or perhaps Optimum is trying to discourage users from using routers and networking. It is hard to say. CIO

Note: <888> 10/26/04 Tuesday 4:25 A.M.: I went outside, and I put the maintenance records in the Volvo. Thus the Volvo since it was new has had $4,600.83 of maintenance done. However, other work was done on the car under warranty which was not charged, and new tires were put on the car once which have a little over a quarter of an inch of tread left. I would imagine oil changes were done under the new car warranty too. I do not know if the exhaust system was ever replaced or not. However, I feel it is a most excellent car for my needs. CIO
Note: <888> 10/26/04 Tuesday 3:55 A.M.: I sorted through the service records on the Volvo, and I organized them by date and mileage. The Volvo service record is available at www.geocities.com/mikelscott/volvo01.htm . The computer would not go online, so I logged onto the Siemens setup web page, and I entered the defaults. I noticed it said that I was online. I then changed the TCP/IP settings to automatic, and the computer was able to go online. I rebooted a couple of times leaving the entire system turned off for a while, and it rebooted properly. In doing this procedure, I had the D-Link Hub with LAN disabled, so the last time I rebooted, I disconnected it from the computer, so I only have one network item enabled. Anyway for now the computer seems to be running fine with the Siemens router. CIO

I called Optimum Online again, and they said it was definitely that my Siemens router definitely add a problem, and it was not assigning IP addresses. I guess I could buy or order a new router with my Hyundai debit card, but I need one with a printer port. The same model of the Siemens router on the internet is about $70 to $80, and I originally bought it from CompUSA with a $50 mailin rebate, but I think the two year warranty has expired. Anyway I connected the cable modem directly to the computer onboard LAN. One can select the Run command and enter "CMD" and then enter "ipconfig" and "ipconfig /release" and "ipconfig /renew" to assign the IP addresses, which does not work when the Siemens router is connected. I guess the obvious answer is that it malfunctioned. CIO
Note: <888> 10/25/04 Monday 1:15 P.M.: I was up at 1 P.M.. I checked the mail, but it is not here. I booted the computer, but it still will not obtain an IP address and go online with the Siemens router connected. I connected the Motorola cable modem LAN cable directly to the motherboard onboard LAN port, and it works. Of course the printer network and other backup computers will not go online. I could try using one of my other Ethernet Hubs, but I still would not have network printing. CIO
Note: <888> 10/25/04 Monday 6:10 A.M.: I will now shut down the computer. I will then go to bed shortly. CIO
Note: <888> 10/25/04 Monday 5:55 A.M.: I have the computer running off the Siemens router again. I went through a number of configurations trying to get it to work. Basically the Siemens router seems to work all right. I have it connected into the onboard LAN. I was able to fix the system by disconnecting the USB to LAN port with three USB ports device. I disconnected its power and disconnected it from its USB cable and LAN cable, and the computer seems to boot up and work just fine. I also reconfigured the Siemens router with the defaults. Thus as far as I can tell the computer is working just fine. CIO
Note: <888> 10/25/04 Monday 2:50 A.M.: I reconnected the Siemens router after turning it on and off with no cables connected to it, and it worked when I rebooted. However, when I was setting it up from its setup page, it quit working again. I restored it to its factory defaults, and I disconnected it again. I then disconnected the cable to it, and I pressed the reset button. I also did a System Restore to before I ran TCP optimizer. I will now try connecting up the Siemens router again to see if it works now. CIO
Note: <888> 10/25/04 Monday 12:35 A.M.: I called Optimum Online tech support at 1-203-348-9211, and they tested my Cable Modem, and they said the Siemens router was not assigning an IP address. I tried setting the Siemens router to its factory defaults, and it still would not work. I finally connected the Cable modem directly to the motherboard LAN, and the system went online. I can not figure out what the problem is with the Siemens router unless the TCP Optimizer program that I ran yesterday morning before shutting down somehow messed up the IP address assigning of the Siemens router. I will have to work on it. Anyway the computer is online for now. CIO
Note: <888> 10/24/04 Sunday 11:15 P.M.: I was up at 11 A.M. this morning, and I chatted with a friend. I ate breakfast of oatmeal with a sliced banana, toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I went back to bed until 4 P.M.. I chatted with a relative. The relative with her husband is stopping by my apartment around 10 A.M. on this Thursday morning to take up the Queen Anne chair to Kennebunkport, Maine www.geocities.com/mikelscott/137.htm . I will thus have a little extra space left in the apartment. I will see if there are any other items they want to take up. I ate a peanut butter sandwich with a glass of iced tea. I cleaned up, and I went out. When I chatted with the relative, I was told all of the service records for my Volvo are in a folder behind the driver's seat. I went out, and I went through the service records. All of the service has been done on the Volvo that I can think of. Its fuel filer was replaced at 75,000 miles, the car had a new timing belt and spark plugs and rear disk brake pads at 92,000 miles, so at 98,750 miles, the car is totally maintained. I brought up the service records, and I will make up a list of everything that has been done and at what mileage. Also something called the Lambda which I think has something to do with emissions was replaced at 92,000 miles. The brake fluid was replaced recently too. The Volvo was Volvo dealer maintained. I went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area, and I sat out at various locations. During my walk, I stopped by CVS, and I bought four buy one get one free of Campbell's 18.8 ounce cans of Chunky New England clam chowder for $2.49 for two cans for $4.98 total. After my walk, I used the bathroom at Starbucks. I then drove by the waterfront. I next went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought a 10 ounce bag of fresh spinach for $1.50. I then went by the Food Emporium, and I looked for a bottle of Old English dark furniture polish, but neither store had it. A neighbor had asked me to look for it. I then returned home. I drank some iced tea. I chatted with a friend. I chatted with a relative. I left a message with another relative. I took down the Saudi Arabian flag from the center hallway bookcase in my apartment, since with the colder weather, I doubt if any Saudis will be visiting, and I think they have enough money for their own place, so they do not need hospitality. I decided if any people from Florida are still up north, they might be cold, and need some alcoholic liquid refreshment, so I unlocked the padlock and chain from the liquor cabinet on the lower half of the hallway center bookcase. Although, I do not drink liquor myself, I keep it available for entertaining relatives and friends whom might stop by along with the Danish bar setup. Presently the internet is not working, so I can not post this message. I did notice a sign that the English might be around because, I saw a Twinings Tea display at the Food Emporium at the front of the store with English Breakfast tea and Earle Grey tea that said, "With Love from England." CIO
Note: <888> 10/24/04 Sunday 12:40 A.M.: I ate a 10 ounce can of CVS lightly salted cashews and three black licorice twists with some iced tea. I went to www.speedguide.net , and I used the TCP Optimizer download http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php to optimize my settings including the network settings. ***Additional note to this note, I do not recommend TCP Optimizer, because after using it my Siemens router quit working, Try at your own risk.*** I will now shut down the computer, and I will go to bed soon. Note: <888> 10/23/04 Saturday 7:50 P.M.: I went out after the last message. I went downtown, and I used the bathroom at the Senior and Arts center. I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue, and I sat out at various locations. During my walk, I stopped by the Korean fruit and vegetable stand, and I bought five Chiquita bananas for .88. I toured CVS. I noticed at the top of Greenwich Avenue, the sidewalk construction crew have left the padlock open on the Portapotty. This could present a hazard, since if someone were using the Portapotty, someone could lock them inside of it. After my walk, I used the bathroom at senior and arts center. I then drove down by the waterfront. I chatted with a former neighbor. I then returned to the center of town, and I used the bathroom at Starbucks. Supposedly as one gets older, one has to go to the bathroom more often. Also drinking the ice tea makes one go to the bathroom more often. I next went by the Exxon gasoline station next to the Greenwich Library, and I bought $11.70 of premium unleaded gasoline at $2.539 a gallon for 14 miles per gallon usage. I then returned home, and I reset the Volvo dashboard computer, which one is suppose to do after one fills up the Volvo. I chatted with a neighbor. I drank some iced tea. I turned the thermostat up before I left to 75 degrees Fahrenheit, and the apartment is currently 72 degrees Fahrenheit. CIO

I was up at 9 P.M. this morning. I ate breakfast of oatmeal with a sliced banana, toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I went outside, and I checked the mail. The AT&T 705 telephone occasionally had a problem hanging up, so I moved it from besides the French reproduction chair to beside the Queen Anne chair beneath the Orion television. I moved the big button Northwest Bell telephone with speaker phone and long headset cord next to the French reproduction chair, and they both seem to be working fine now. I programmed the memory buttons on the AT&T 705 telephone and I added the Net2Phone access numbers to the memory buttons on the Northwest Bell telephone. I chatted briefly with a friend. I picked up the mail. I have 15 minutes to go on the dry cycle on two loads of laundry. I put clean linens on the bed in the bedroom. I turned the heat up in the living room to 74 degrees Fahrenheit, so the living room will be 70 to 72 degrees Fahrenheit. I also have the Lasko box fan on the living room window shelf blowing the heat on low speed into the apartment instead of letting it flow into the false ceiling which creates a minor draft but is more energy efficient. I chatted with a relative. CIO

The latest Braun www.braun.com model coffee maker is this one braun kf600 Coffee Makers - Find, Compare and Buy at BizRate with this product description Braun - Impressions Design Collection Coffee Maker in Stainless Steel . I put a gallon of water in a six quart Revere pot, and I added a half teaspoon of salt and a teaspoon of olive oil, and I brought it to a boil with the lid on. I then boiled for six minutes with the lid off a 16 ounce package of Stop and Shop vermicelli, which I drained in a colander, and I put half on a dinner plate with tongs, and I put the other half in a Rubbermaid container in the refrigerator. I also used the reheat button the General Electric microwave oven to heat half of a 26 ounce jar or 13 ounces of Ragu six cheese tomato sauce, and I put the remaining half in the jar in the refrigerator. I added the tomato sauce to the noodles, and I added a thin layer of grated parmesan cheese, and I ate it all with a glass of iced tea. CIO
Note: <888> 10/22/04 Friday 9:35 P.M.: I went out after the last message. I went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop, and I bought a AT&T www.att.com #705 twelve memory button white telephone for $3. I then went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue in a different pattern. I used the bathroom at the Senior and Arts center. I then walked lower Greenwich Avenue, and then I walked up Greenwich Avenue. I stopped by the Greenwich Hardware store, and I view the 70% off rack. I then used the ATM machine at the Greenwich Avenue branch of Putnam Trust Bank of New York. I then returned to the Greenwich Hardware store and from the 70% off rack, I bought a former display item black Braun http://www.braun.com/ Aroma Deluxe time control #KF 580 B coffee maker with gold filter and Brita water filter braun kf580 Coffee Makers - Find, Compare and Buy at BizRate and Braun AromaDeluxe Time Control 10 Cup Coffeemaker KF 580 and Braun, KF580B, Braun KF580-B AromaDeluxe 10 Cup Coffee Maker, Black - NowOnSale.com regularly $132.99 at the Greenwich Hardware store for $32.90 plus $1.97 tax for $34.87 total. I then walked down Greenwich Avenue, and I put the Braun coffee maker in my Volvo. I then used the bathroom at the Senior and Arts center. I sat out for a while. I then walked up Greenwich Avenue, and I toured CVS. I then completed my walked up Greenwich Avenue, and I sat out briefly at the top of Greenwich Avenue, and I returned down Greenwich Avenue to my car, and I sat out briefly. I then drove down by the waterfront and some of the regular fishermen were there. They never seem happy to see me, although I go down there most every day. I then went by the Greenwich Library, and I read the Greenwich Time. I chatted with one of regular library users like I always do with some of the regular library users. I then returned home. I took the Krups coffee maker and espresso machine off the left side of the kitchen entrance bookcase, and I put it on the lower left part of my bedroom closet. I moved my dress shoes from the bedroom closet to both living room closets. I also took the Royal coffee maker from my left back kitchen counter, and I also put it on the lower left side of the bedroom closet. I put the new Braun KF 580 B coffee maker on the left top of the kitchen entrance bookcase. I installed the Brita water filter in it, and I put the water filter space filler next to the machine to have handy if I ever do not use the water filter. The water filter is suppose last two months with regular use, so it will last me longer, since I normally do not brew a full pot of coffee. I set the time on the Braun coffee maker, and I set it to turn off automatically after an hour. I left the gold filter in the basket. I put beneath it a new box of 100 count of #4 Melita brown coffee filters and a open box of the same with a few left in it. One has to run a cycle of water through it to clean the machine and filter, which I will do later. I put the ATT 705 telephone by the French reproduction sitting chair, and I will program its memory buttons at a future time. I used a telephone line two way splitter, and I added to the connector cord beneath the maple side table, the General Electric big button phone, which I placed on the mahogany side table at the apartment entrance. I drank some iced tea. CIO
Note: <888> 10/22/04 Friday 2:40 P.M.: I woke up during the night, and I ate the remaining four ounces of lightly salted cashews. I was up at 10 A.M. this morning. I ate breakfast of oatmeal with a sliced banana, toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I went outside, and I picked up my mail. I chatted with an associate. I did my house cleaning and watering the plants. I threw out the garbage. I will now eat a peanut butter sandwich with a glass of iced tea. I will then clean up, and I will go out. I noticed when I went to the Splash car wash across the street on West Putnam Avenue next to the Mobil gasoline station a couple days ago before waxing my car, that I paid $7.50 for the Express car wash, but there is a sign in front that from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M., the Express car wash is $5 which includes a free vacuum. Thus I guess, since it costs $5 for the Express car wash in Old Greenwich at the Mobil Express car wash all the time, but since it costs money to drive over there, I will probably be getting my Volvo washed nearby after 6 P.M. at night as long as it continues to be $5. It obviously costs money to drive all the way over to Old Greenwich. Of course on some nice days, I do go out to Tod's Point in Old Greenwich to enjoy the view of Long Island sound, and the occasional walk around the point, which is quite enjoyable during the fall, when it is not too windy. Note: <888> 10/21/04 Thursday 8:50 P.M.: I woke up last night, and I ate a few black licorice twists. I was up at 8 A.M. this morning. I ate breakfast of oatmeal with a sliced banana, toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I watched the first half of the original Tarzan movie, and then I fell back to sleep until 1 A.M.. I ate a few licorice twists. I cleaned up, and I went out. I went by Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street. I went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop. I made my 3 P.M. appointment. I went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue, and I sat out at various locations. I stopped by CVS, and I bought a 10 ounce can of CVS lightly salted cashews for $2.99. After my walk, I used the bathroom at the senior and the arts center. I drove down by the waterfront. I then went by the Greenwich Library, and I read the Greenwich Time. I next returned home. I received from via Fedex from www.shoplet.com the Plantronics M10 AC adaptor. I took the batteries out of the Plantronics M10 transformer, since I think having them in might keep it from working on AC power, and then I plugged the AC adaptor into the power strip to the left of my primary computer control panel, and I plugged it into the Plantronics M10 transformer, so it has a steady power supply all the time when turned on. I made and ate my usual salad www.geocities.com/mikelscott/salad.htm . I use a tin of sardines that I chopped instead of tuna fish. For the cheddar cheese portion, I used Kraft extra sharp cheddar cheese. I used all of the other regular ingredients. I ate the salad with a glass of iced tea. CIO

Note: <888> 10/20/04 Wednesday 11:30 P.M.: I went outside again, and I put a new Ocean Breeze Christmas Tree scent card in the Volvo hanging from the left rear driver's side window hook. I made up a sign saying "Please Do Not Remove Air Conditioner" and I put it on my outside apartment door, so when the maintenance personnel come tomorrow to remove the air conditioners, they will not try to take my air conditioner out. The building custodian already knows, but I put the sign there in case he is not around when they show up. CIO
Note: <888> 10/20/04 Wednesday 10:55 P.M.: I went outside briefly, and I threw out some garbage, and I chatted with a neighbor. I checked my car to make sure that I locked it. When I chatted with a relative earlier, they told me that if one takes an antistatic Cling Free type cloth and soaks it in vinegar and put it with clothes that smell of cigarette smoke in the dryer for 10 minutes, it will remove the cigarette smoke. I am not sure if one uses heat in the dryer cycle or not. I was also told to remove cigarette smoke from a room, one can put out a bowl of vinegar. Since I only smoke in my apartment next to the kitchen fan, my apartment does not smell too much of smoke, but I did put out a bowl of Heinz white vinegar on the living room window shelf along with the bowl of Lysol to eliminate smells. I suppose since I smoke cigarettes and eat food with garlic and since I walk a lot getting smelly shoes that I personally might smell a bit, but since I have lived in Italy and visited countries like France, Spain, and Greece where they use garlic and smoke tobacco, I am not alone in having some body smells in this area. I also filled my Zippo Greenwich Country Club and Zippo United States Marine Corps lighters with some of the Ronsonol lighter fluid. It one uses a Zippo lighter, it is a smart idea to also keep a couple of spare flints in the bottom of the lighter where one fills it to have available should the flint one out. CIO
Note: <888> 10/20/04 Wednesday 10:25 P.M.: I went out after the last message. I went downtown, and I chatted with a local. I then walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue including the train station area, and I sat out at various locations. I used the bathroom at the Senior and Arts center before and after the walk. During the walk, I stopped by CVS, and I bought a 8 ounce container of Ronsonol lighter fluid for $2.77, two 7 ounce packages of black licorice twists for $1.19 each, two 1.5 liter bottles of CVS yellow mouthwash for $4.39 each, and a 6.4 ounce tube of Crest baking soda and peroxide whitening fresh mint tooth paste for $1.77 with a .85 ounce bonus tube of Crest Whitening Expressions toothpaste plus .94 tax for $16.64 total. After my walk, I drove down by the waterfront. I went by the Greenwich Library, but I had a hard time reading the Greenwich Time, since I brought my sun glasses instead of my reading glasses. I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought two half gallons of Tropicana light and healthy premium orange juice for $2 each, a 16 ounce bag of baby carrots for $1.50, broccoli crowns at $1.79 a pound for $1.72, a 10 ounce box of fresh mushrooms for $2.29, and a quart of plum tomatoes for $3.69 for $11.79 total. I then returned home, and I chatted with a neighbor. I put away my purchases. I chatted with a relative. I drank some iced tea. CIO

I will now shut down the computer, and I will clean up. I will then go to downtown Greenwich for my usual routines. CIO
Note: <888> 10/20/04 Wednesday 4:05 P.M.: I went back out, and I used paper towels and 70% Ethyl rubbing alcohol to remove a bit more of the residual wax from the plastic bumper parts and trim plastic parts. There is still a small bit of haze on them, but most of it is gone. CIO
Note: <888> 10/20/04 Wednesday 3:30 P.M.: I went out after the last message. I went to the Splash car wash across the street on West Putnam Avenue, and I had the Express wash done on my Volvo for $7.50 and a dollar tip for $8.50 total. I then returned back to my building parking lot, and I used the Mothers www.mothers.com Premium HotWheels car wax to wax the Volvo. I use a small hand terry cloth towel, and I applied the wax to one section of the car at a time about three square feet or whatever the section was. I then would apply the wax to the next section, and I would buff with a large terry cloth towel the previous section. I was done by 1 P.M.. I then threw out the hand towel that I applied the wax with, and the gold buffing towel, I put underneath the lower rear compartment of the Volvo. I left a light blue towel in the upper rear area to use to dry the Volvo after car washes. I then came upstairs, and I use Ronson lighter fluid and liquid soap to remove the wax from my hands. I then took the Ronson lighter fluid and glass cleaner and paper towels outside, and I use a paper towel and Ronson lighter fluid to remove the wax from the plastic molding edges and plastic bumper areas where it overlapped, and most of it came off and is not to visible. I then used the glass cleaner and paper towels, and I cleaned the windows on the inside and the outside. I use glass cleaner and paper towels to clean the metal alloy wheels. I took off the "Support Our Troops" magnetic ribbon sticker before the car wash, and I put it on the dash board. One is suppose to wait two days after waxing for the wax to cure before applying the magnetic ribbon sticker again. The Volvo looks just great. I used about 2/3rds of a container of the Mothers wax, and I put the remaining container and the other new container on the floor of the sweater closet in the hallway with the other car care items. I refilled the Glade plug-in refill in the kitchen with a 60% mixture of English Leather cologne and 40% 91% isopropyl alcohol, and I left about a half inch from the top for air to get in. I use a screw driver to pry off the lid, and I use miniature perfume funnels like they sell in the cooking section of the Greenwich Hardware store to fill the Glade Plug-in refill. I cut off the part of the miniature funnel, so it fills faster. One could also use a similar type funnel with the tip cut off for refilling the miniature two ounce liquor bottles that people frequently carry to BYO "Bring Your Own" parties. I left a message with a relative. CIO

Note: <888> 10/19/04 Tuesday 1:50 P.M.: Once when I was wandering around Nantucket back in 1976, I got a tired spell, and I decided to take a nap in one of the local grave yards before returning back to town. I found a comfortable spot, and I took my nap. As I recall, it was beneath a monument with the family name Folger in a cemetery where there were not a lot of headstones because it was a Quaker cemetery. I later learned that particularly monument marked Benjamin Franklin's mother's grave, and during a following summer around 1977 or 1978, I read in the Nantucket Inquirer Mirror that it had been hit twice by lightning. Maybe the spirit of Benjamin Franklin's mother is why I got better at electricity and other electrical components. Also during the summers of 1977 and 1978, I also worked as dish washer and pot scrubber at the Gordon Folger Hotel. It does not show up on my social security records, since I was trying to be incognito, so I gave them the wrong social security number. I recall being in the staff photo during one of those summers. Once when I was cleaning up the Gordon Folger hotel kitchen, they told me to do an extra good cleaning job on the floor, so in the mop bucket in the hot water, I put in a gallon of bleach and two quarts of ammonia which I should not have done, because that created a large amount of ammonia chloride gas, and they had to clear out the entire dining room and kitchen, and there was a special party of guests at dinner that night, but since I worked so hard, I held on to my job. I guess the Folgers later went into the coffee business. CIO
Note: <888> 10/19/04 Tuesday 1:20 P.M.: I chatted with a friend at 6:45 A.M. this morning. I ate breakfast of oatmeal with eight small sliced strawberries, toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I ate a few black licorice twists. I went back to bed, and I woke up at 12:30 P.M.. I ate a few black licorice twists. Anyone whom eats black licorice twists should know that licorice is a natural laxative, so if one eats black licorice twists, one tends to be regular. I threw out some garbage, and I checked the mail, but it has not arrived yet. CIO
Note: <888> 10/18/04 Monday 11:55 P.M.: I will now shut down the computer, and I will go to bed soon. CIO
Note: <888> 10/18/04 Monday 11:45 P.M.: I microwaved and ate a 11.5 ounce Kraft Pasta anytime Alfredo dinner, which I ate with a glass of iced tea. I ate three pieces of black twisted licorice. CIO
Note: <888> 10/18/04 Monday 10:50 P.M.: I went out after the last message, but first I ate a peanut butter sandwich with a glass of iced tea. I went by the Arnold Bread outlet, and I bought a loaf of Arnold Oat bread for $1.45. I then went by Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street. I then went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop, and I bought a box of 10 Smead #BE1299 #83052 blue clamp binders for $3 all. I then made my 4 P.M. appointment. I next went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue, and I sat out at various locations. During my walk, I stopped by the Greenwich Hardware store, and from the 70% off rack, I bought two 16 ounce bottle packages of Mothers www.mothers.com HotWheels Premium Wax for $3.90 each box plus .47 tax for $8.27 total. Each package came with a little Mothers HotWheels auto toy. I completed my walk. I drove down by the waterfront. I stopped by the Greenwich Library, and I read the Greenwich Time. The liberals at the Greenwich Library keep giving me the Third Degree whenever I chat with them which is considered against the rules of library conduct, so I just give them the standard public relations replies. Since I have read more than them in more accurate libraries versus public relations type libraries, I obviously do not have the time to explain in detail what takes a more formal education to learn over a longer period of time. I next returned home. I ate two black licorice sticks. I spent about an hour looking for an accounting error in my Microsoft Money 2002 program, but I found the error, except for $2.43 which I put on other expenses. I suppose if I am rested, and we get a warmer day, I might have the car washed at the Splash car wash on West Putnam Avenue across the street from me for $5, and I could try to wax the Volvo, so it is protected from the elements for the winter. I will put the two little car toys on the right hallway bookcase shelf with the little Model T auto toy. CIO
Note: <888> 10/18/04 Monday 2:10 P.M.: I went out, and I picked up my mail. I had three letters for a neighbor in my mail box, which I left outside the neighbors door. I will now shut down the computer, and I will go out. I have a 4 P.M. appointment. CIO
Note: <888> 10/18/04 Monday 1:45 P.M.: The Andrea Electronics microphone and ear piece should work off the Creative Live MP3+ sound card, but I have it plugged into the microphone jack with a Y splitter, and the signal is not strong enough. However, on the Y splitter, I also have the input into the microphone jack from the Stereo system, which should work, but I never use it. I will leave it as is with the Platronics DSP500 headset enabled. CIO
Note: <888> 10/18/04 Monday 1:30 P.M.: I downloaded and installed Bazooka http://www.kephyr.com/spywarescanner/index.html , it showed me how to take BDE off the computer. DHL http://www.dhl-usa.com/home/home.asp delivered to me some Microsoft Open Licensing information, which I will have to study more closely later. I took the front lower doors off the Microwave cart holding my printers, and I put the two doors the right side of the cart, and I used duct tape and scotch tape to tape the door hardware and screws to the inside upper right of the lower section of the cart. I put my spare printer paper on the lower shelf. I moved the four inch stack of old paper print outs to the middle shelf to the right of HP LaserJet 6P printer. I put the Panasonic headphones which work off the Creative Live MP3+ sound card when it is enabled on the left side of the living room desk. CIO
Note: <888> 10/18/04 Monday 12:20 P.M.: I went through my email. I ate three black licorice twists. CIO
Note: <888> 10/18/04 Monday 11:40 A.M.: I was up at 8 A.M. this morning. I showered and cleaned up, and I did not eat. I went over to the Greenwich Hospital laboratory, and I had my blood drawn for the follow up on my Lipitor monitoring. I chatted with a person from www.xerox.com delivering to the hospital one of those $2,750 fax laser machines. I was told it is all modular for servicing. I then returned home. I ate breakfast of oatmeal, toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I used the lens cleaner and lens paper, and I cleaned my reading glasses and sun glasses, and I also cleaned my primary and backup computer monitor screens. For the computer monitor screens, I used the lens cleaner that I bought at the Greenwich Hardware store and the special monitor cleaning sponge. I will now do some regular computer work. CIO
Note: <888> 10/17/04 Sunday 8:50 P.M.: I ate a ten ounce can of lightly salted cashew nuts with some iced tea. I will now shut down the computer, and I will go to bed soon. CIO
Note: <888> 10/17/04 Sunday 8:05 P.M.: I made and ate my usual salad www.geocities.com/mikelscott/salad.htm . For the cheddar cheese portion, I used Stop and Shop Swiss cheese. I used all of the other regular ingredients. I ate the salad with a glass of iced tea. I watched a bit of television, and I relaxed. I ate three pieces of black licorice twists. CIO
Note: <888> 10/17/04 Sunday 5:35 P.M.: I was up at 8 P.M. this morning. I had breakfast of oatmeal with seven sliced strawberries, and I also put cinnamon and milk with my oatmeal, two slices of toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I chatted with a relative. I cleaned up, and I went out. I went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area. I sat out at various locations. I stopped by the Greenwich Hardware store, and I took some time to tour the whole store, so I will know where everything is, when I need certain items locally, which is usually the case. They did not have the 3M Command hook replacement strips. From the downstairs front display case, I bought a 2 ounce bottle of Lenz-Clean Lens Cleaner for $2.75 total. It is good for both eye glasses and computer screens, and I put it to the left side of the backup Dell computer Compaq monitor next to my computer screen sponge cleaner. I next stopped by CVS, and I bought a 10 ounce can of lightly salted cashews for $2.99 and a 7 ounce bag of black licorice twists for $1.19 plus .07 tax for $4.25 total. I got $2.50 of CVS extra bucks, so I bought another 10 ounce can of lightly salted cashews for .49 with the $2.50 CVS extra bucks. I completed my walk, and I used the bathroom at Starbucks. I next drove down by the waterfront. I gave another library user a ride to the Greenwich Library, where I read the Greenwich Time. I then stopped by the Stop and Shop, and I bought a 10 ounce box of fresh mushrooms for $2.29 and a half gallon of Tropicana light healthy orange juice for $2 for $3.72 total. I gave .50 to the Knights of Columbus fund raiser for retarded citizens at the Stop and Shop entrance, as I exited the store. I then returned home. CIO
Note: <888> 10/17/04 Sunday 12:50 A.M.: I will now shut down the computer, and I will go to bed soon. CIO
Note: <888> 10/17/04 Sunday 12:15 A.M.: I reconnected the HP LaserJet 4L cable to the printer port box. I have the HP LaserJet 4L printer sitting on top of the HP LaserJet IID printer. I actually do not use the HP LaserJet 4L and the HP LaserJet 6P printers, but I keep them for backup. I use the HP LaserJet IID printer for printing out my notes every four months in Times Roman Postscript font, since they usually are about 300 pages, and it is a heavy duty printer, and fast in Postscript mode. I put a new $95 toner cartridge in it, when I got it a few years ago, and it probably still has 60% remaining on the cartridge. It has a counter, but I never bothered checking the counter, when I put in the new cartridge. Thus I have all four laser printers hooked up to my system along with the EpsonStylus color 880 printer. All the printers except the Minolta laser printer are connected to the port box, so they are all on the Siemens printer port off the Siemens router. Thus I can print to them from any of seven computers online in the apartment. CIO
Note: <888> 10/16/04 Saturday 11:15 P.M.: I took the eight volumes of the after World War I veterans books along with the two others of the 10 volume collection of "Progress of Nations", and I put them in the bathroom bookcase. I put five rolls of Scott toilet paper in front of them. I put the small Audubon bird watchers book and a few other pamphlets on the lowest shelf of the left hallway bookcase. I put the two 3M hook packages with their spare adhesive tapes on top of the printer switch box to the right side of the primary computer on the wall on the wicker rack. I will have to check at the Greenwich Hardware store to see if they sell packages of the 3M hook adhesive tapes. I got the 3M Command hooks, since one is able to remove the adhesive strips and hooks from the surfaces that one attaches them to, and in case I have to move my monitors around. CIO
Note: <888> 10/16/04 Saturday 10:20 P.M.: I went outside briefly. Since the microwave cart has higher edges, I had to balance the printers that overlap, so I put the thin book on Lake Superior underneath the Epson printer to balance it, and I put the thin Time Life book on Russia and a Duck decoy placemat and two America's cup place mats to balance the printer stand holding the Minolta printer. On the small mahogany table with inlaid leather top which is actually a tea table, I put the two stacks of six coasters each stack that I bought last week and two Christmas tree coasters on the back side, and in the front middle of the table, I put one of those solid gold dinner plates that people are always stealing from the Vanderbilt's dinner parties that I bought for a dollar at the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop. Of course being in the Connecticut the Brass state, it might actually be brass or brass plated, but we like to pretend its sold gold. If one knew anything about Gold, one would know a solid Gold dinner plate would weigh a lot more, so obviously it is not gold. I chatted with a relative. I put the tea in the refrigerator to become iced tea. CIO
Note: <888> 10/16/04 Saturday 8:40 P.M.: In the area to right of my primary computer, where I had the small dark oak table and the small mahogany table with inlaid leather top, I took the printers off of them, and cleared the stored paper from underneath them, and I removed the two tables. I then put the maple and white microwave cart in that location to the right of my primary computer. I left the cabinet area of the cart empty, since there is not room enough to open the doors. I put the HP LaserJet 6P laser printer on the lower middle shelf to the left. I stored my new paper to the right of that. On the top shelf to the left, I put the EpsonStylus Color 880 printer and on the top shelf to the right, I put a printer stand with Minolta QMS PagePro 1250W printer on top of the printer stand. My recently printed papers are inside the printer stand. In the space to the right of that on the desk to the left of Compaq monitor for the Dell backup computer on the desk, I put a four inch stack of older print out papers. The small dark oak table, I put to the left as one enters the kitchen with the wooden bread box on top of it, and other food items stored on top and underneath it. In front of the Danish bar, I put the small mahogany table with inlaid leather top, and it is the same level of the lower end table that makes up the Danish bar. Thus it is a small table with room for putting beverage glasses or other items, that I will leave clear of items on top. Thus the sitting area in the living room area is still a bit more spacious by my standards, but one can not walk around the far end of the blue sofa, and one has to exit the living room sitting area from the way one enters. CIO
Note: <888> 10/16/04 Saturday 7:15 P.M.: I threw out the garbage. Somebody or persons unknown had thrown out a pine or light maple microwave cart with white tile top, middle white Formica shelf and lower cabinet with doors. I brought it up to my apartment and dried it off, and I put it in front of the Danish bar. It is 33 inches high, 18 inches deep, and 25.75 inches wide, and it is on small coaster wheels. I moved the brass and glass coffee table 12 inches away from the cart, so the doors have room to open on the cart. I will not put anything on it, and I will leave it available for an open buffet cart or serving cart, if one wanted to use it for making beverages in front of the Danish bar. Of course to get the items out of the Danish bar, one would have to move the cart out a bit. Since it was free, it was just the effort of moving it, and it does not clutter up the apartment, and it fits in just fine. However, next spring when relatives come through or a friend drives me up to Maine, the Queen Anne chair is going back up to Maine, so I will then put the microwave or serving cart in the location of the Queen Anne chair, where it will fit in just fine. CIO
Note: <888> 10/16/04 Saturday 6:20 P.M.: I boiled a gallon of water in a six quart Revere pot, and I added a tablespoon of olive oil and a half of teaspoon of salt. I then boiled a 16 ounce package of Stop and Shop vermicelli for six minutes. At the same time I reheated in the microwave a half of a 26 ounce jar of Master Choice marinara sauce in a microwave proof plastic pot with lid, and I put half of the vermicelli on a plate with the marinara sauce, and I refrigerated the jar with the other half of the marinara sauce, and I put the remaining vermicelli in a Rubbermaid container in the refrigerator. I covered the vermicelli and marinara sauce with a thin layer of grated parmesan cheese, and I ate it all for dinner with a glass of iced tea. I hung the Plantronics DSP500 headset on the right jumbo 3M hook, so it is more handily stored, but if one uses the Visioneer 4400 scanner on top of the CPU and has to open the lid, one will first have to move the Plantronics DSP500 headset. I am now making up a fresh batch of www.geocities.com/mikelscott/icetea.htm . I will now throw out some garbage. CIO
Note: <888> 10/16/04 Saturday 4:45 P.M.: I went out after the last message. I went by the Exxon gasoline station next to the Greenwich Library, and I bought $12.75 of premium unleaded gasoline at $2.539 a gallon for about 15.2 miles per gallon usage around town. I next went by Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street. I then went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop, and I bought a box of 11 seltzer cartridges made in Hungary for .50. I then went downtown, and I chatted with a local. I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue including the train station area, and I sat out at various locations. I stopped by the Korean vegetable and fruit market, and I bought four Dole bananas for .80 all. I stopped by CVS during my walk, and I bought a hand painted tea pot of a French Chef for 75% off for $2.49 plus .15 for $2.64 total. Also on my walked, I used the bathroom at the senior and arts center twice. I also stopped by the Greenwich Hardware store, and I bought a 3M Jumbo Command adhesive hook for $4.99 plus .30 tax for $5.29 total. Then upstairs at the Greenwich Hardware store, I bought a red, white, and blue "Support Our Troops" magnetic ribbon for $2 plus .12 tax for $2.12 total. When I completed my walk, I put it on the passenger side rear of my Volvo. I next drove down by the waterfront. I then started to go for a drive in back country, and I drove up Old Church Road, but by the time I got to North Street, I remembered how expensive gasoline is, so I cut across Parsonage Road, and I drove by the Nathaniel Whitherall retirement home, and I drove down Husted Lane, and I drove by my family's old house on Cornelia Drive which has been torn down to build a new house under construction. I then drove west on North Maple, and back south on Lake Avenue, and then north on Glenville Road to Valley Drive and back to West Putnam Avenue to my apartment, so I used about 12 miles of driving from the time that I filled up the car. I then put the large 3M hook on the right side of my right computer monitor, and after it sets for an hour, I will hang the Plantronics DSP500 headset for the computer from the right side of the right monitor. I put the French chef teapot on the second shelf up from the floor of the right hallway bookcase. I move the core sample from that location to the bottom shelf of the left bookcase in the hallway. I put the Seltzer cartridges with the other ones on the rack to the right as one enters the bedroom. I chatted with a relative. CIO
Note: <888> 10/16/04 Saturday 9:35 A.M.: I put about 3 teaspoons of olive oil and three pads of margarine in my 10 inch omelet pan, and I heated it over medium high electric heat. I sliced eight 1.25 inch by 2 inch by 1/8 th inch slices of Stop and Shop Swiss cheese. I cracked three extra large eggs in a metal bowl, and I added about 1/8th of a cup of 2% low fat milk, and I whisked it all together with a metal whisk. Once the olive oil was heated in the omelet pan, I added the egg mixture to the omelet pan, and I lower the heat to a little lower than medium. I let it cook, until it began to harden on top. I then flipped the omelet with a spatula, and I covered one half of it with the five slices of the cheese. I then folded the bare half over the covered half, and put it on a warm dinner plate. I put the remaining three slices of cheese on it and covered it with a medium to light covering grated parmesan cheese. While cooking the omelet, I also toasted two slices of bread, and I spread two pads of margarine on each and spread it, and I cut the toast in half. I had it all for dinner with a glass of iced tea. I don't wash my omelet pan, but I just wipe it dry with a paper towel, so it does not stick in the future, and it gradually conditions the omelet pan. I will now shut down the computer, and I will clean up, and I will go out. CIO

Note: <888> 10/16/04 Saturday 7:40 A.M.: After the last message, I ate a 5 ounce tin of Armour Vienna franks with a couple of teaspoons of Bournier whole grain Dijon style mustard. I then went to bed. About 9:30 P.M., I chatted with a relative in Vero Beach, Florida http://www.tcpalm.com/tcp/press_journal , and I was told lots of houses have blue tarps on their roofs from hurricane damage. I was also told that they are giving lots of hurricane relief money to Miami, Florida which did not have any hurricane damage. I then slept until 2:30 A.M.. I had breakfast of oatmeal with five sliced strawberries, two pieces of toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I went back to bed until 7 A.M.. I went outside, and I threw out some garbage, and I chatted with some neighbors. I will now send out my weekly notes. CIO

Note: <888> 10/15/04 Friday 10:50 A.M.: I looked at www.overstock.com , and they are still a bit pricey for me, but with today's increased prices, they might have some bargains. I made and ate my usual salad www.geocities.com/mikelscott/salad.htm . I use a tin of sardines that I chopped instead of tuna fish. For the cheddar cheese portion, I used Stop and Shop Swiss cheese. I used all of the other regular ingredients except mushrooms. I ate the salad with a glass of iced tea. I threw out the package of week old Portobello mushrooms, since they looked a bit old. CIO
Note: <888> 10/15/04 Friday 9:05 A.M.: I finished house cleaning and watering the plants. I threw out the garbage. CIO
Note: <888> 10/15/04 Friday 5:50 A.M.: I was up at 3:30 A.M.. I had breakfast of oatmeal, two pieces of toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I checked the General Electric big button phone with the Plantronics headset attached to it, and the speed dial buttons on the General Electric big button phone did not preserve the numbers that I had programmed into them. I checked, and the Plantronics headset also works at setting 5 on my AT&T www.att.com #6402U01A telephone made in Hong Kong. The AT&T is probably my best corded telephone. I attached the AT&T telephone to the Plantronics headset to the left side of my primary computer on the dining room table. I made up a label with the speed dial memory 12 telephone preset names, and I scotched taped it onto the AT&T telephone. I then programmed it with 12 telephone numbers, and it all works just fine. I moved the General Electric big button telephone on to the mahogany bureau in the living room next to the French reproduction sitting chair with the white throw. I put the 3 volt #2032 disk battery back in it that I had taken out yesterday, and I put the new #2032 battery back in its packaging. Thus the General Electric telephone does not have preset dialing buttons stored in memory, since its memory does not work, although the General Electric telephone does work for chatting. I cleaned the Northwest Bell telephone next to the Queen Anne chair beneath the Orion television. I will now do my house cleaning and watering the plants. CIO
Note: <888> 10/14/04 Thursday 8:25 P.M.: I microwaved a 10 ounce can of Campbell's New England clam chowder, which I ate with a glass of iced tea. I chatted with a friend. The friend caught a 42 inch 32 pound striped bass, so they must be running about now. I will now shut down the computer, and I will go to bed. CIO
Note: <888> 10/14/04 Thursday 7:20 P.M.: I chatted with the relative that returned to Florida, and the relative is doing fine, but tired. Obviously, there is a bit of work to done down there. CIO
Note: <888> 10/14/04 Thursday 6:25 P.M.: I went out after the last message. I went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop, and I bought a cigarette lighter to cigarette lighter jump start system for automobiles for $2. I put it on the package shelf behind the rear seat in the Volvo. I moved the emergency glass breaking hammer to in between the front seats in the arm rest compartment. I then went by the Merry Go Round Mews thrift shop, and I bought a 28.75 inch by about 18.75 inch size with frame mirror with a lengthwise octagonal shape with an imitation dark oak finish on the frame for $10. I then went to my 3 P.M. appointment. I next went by the Greenwich Hardware store, and I bought a package of two 50 pound OOK hooks for $2.99, a package of three 30 pound OOK hooks for $2.99, and a 3M Command large plastic hook with adhesive strips which can be removed for $3.29 plus .56 sales tax for $9.83 total. I then drove down by the waterfront. I next returned home. I brought up the mirror, and I cleaned it off. I hung it on the wall above the toilet, and it looks just fine. I took down the NASA shuttle picture from the hallway side of the bathroom door, and I put it behind my bed head board. On the hallway side of the bathroom door, I put a 50 pound OOK hook, and I hung the mirror that I replaced above the toilet on the lower half of the door beneath the other mirror, so with a five inch gap between mirrors, one gets a full length mirror perspective when the door is closed. I then put the 3M plastic hook on the top left side of the left computer monitor, so I can hang my Plantronics telephone headset off of it, but first it has to set for an hour, and it is now ready, so I hung the headset on it. The package and the spare adhesive strip is in my center desk drawer. I chatted a relative, and my other relative arrived safely in Florida. The memory speed dial buttons on the General Electric big button phone were not working properly, so I replaced the lithium 3 volt #2032 battery with a new Duracell one, so hopefully they will now work, which they do after a half hour of inactivity on the phone. CIO

The Net2Phone Stamford, Connecticut access number works from here in Byram, Greenwich, Connecticut, if one dials 203-325-0539 with out a beginning 1. Note: <888> 10/14/04 Thursday 6:00 A.M.: I updated my personal telephone list, and I printed out copies, and I put them by or underneath or besides my telephones. I tried accessing my Net2Phone account from the telephone instead of the internet, and from the telephone it says that it is closed. I emailed www.net2phone.com to reactivate it, so it also works from the telephone. On my Verizon telephone plan, I have local dialing to neighbor communities for the rate that I pay which includes Port Chester, New York and Stamford, Connecticut. However, the Net2Phone 3.9 cents a minute local number to Port Chester, New York works at 1-914-612-1307, but the local number to Stamford, Connecticut at 1-203-325-0539 does not work. Net2Phone also has a 800 number for 6.9 cents a minute at 1-800-840-7438. I set up the speed dial numbers on my General Electric big button telephone by my primary computer, and while doing it, I accidentally dialed 911, and the Greenwich Police called me back to see if there were any problems. I told them I must have made a mistake in setting up the speed dial numbers, and there was no problem. On the General Electric big button telephone, the first speed dial number is the Port Chester, New York Net2Phone 1-914-612-1307 access number, and the second speed dial number is my Net2Phone account number, so once the Net2Phone telephone card option works, I will dial with the first Speed Dial button on the General Electric big button phone, the Port Chester New York Net2Phone access number, second the second button for the Net2Phone account number, then enter my personal PIN number, and then press a speed dial number or enter a number for the long distance telephone call at 3.9 cents a minute. Of course I have to wait for Net2Phone to enable this feature of my account again. Also one has to have money on their Net2Phone account which I do. Of course through the computer, Net2Phone's charge for computer to telephone calls domestically in the USA is 2 cents a minute, but some times one wants to make a telephone call when the computer is turned off. Also on my AT&T www.att.com long distance plan for $10 a month minimum connect fee, I have to make $5 a month in calls at 10 cents a minute, or I will be charged for them anyway. CIO
Note: <888> 10/14/04 Thursday 3:45 A.M.: I went to bed after the last message. I chatted with a relative whom visited Manhattan yesterday. I ate a bowl of the last of the Doritos guacamole chips, which I ate with a glass of iced tea. I woke up at 2:30 P.M. I watched the last half hour of the rebroadcast of the Presidential debate. I thought it was Friday night not Wednesday night. I ate breakfast of oatmeal with four sliced strawberries, two pieces of toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. Note: <888> 10/13/04 Wednesday 4:40 P.M.: I chatted with a relative and a friend on the Plantronics headset, and they said it sounded just fine. I have the speed dial numbers wrong on the General Electric big button phone, so I have to reprogram them when I have the time. CIO
Note: <888> 10/13/04 Wednesday 4:10 P.M.: On the http://www.shoplet.com/ web site when I ordered the adaptor, I should have made the order over $25, and it would have been free shipping. CIO
Note: <888> 10/13/04 Wednesday 3:55 P.M.: I got the Plantronics system working on the General Electric big button phone. This is the headset Plantronics Supra H51 with this adaptor Plantronics M12 , and I followed these instructions http://www.plantronics.com/media/media_resources/literature/user_guides/userguide_m12_en.pdf . I then tested it by calling the Verizon operator, and the Verizon operator said it sounded just fine. There are different settings underneath the small panel, and I put it at 5 for the General Electric 2-9267A big button telephone, and it worked. I set the out going volume at the middle level. I put in two new CVS AA alkaline batteries in the unit. I move the princess style phone that it did not work with to the right side of the Dell backup computer, and I moved the General Electric big button telephone to the left side of my primary computer on the dining room table. I have it connected into the Radio Shack electronic amplifier system. I have the Plantronics Vista M12 unit set to have the General Electric telephone headset work, and once one lifts the receiver, one can push the headset or middle button, and the headset will work. I have the headset hanging from the left monitor draped around the CRW www.crw.com red answer ball. Although, I do not use the line telephone very much for outgoing calls because I use Net2Phone, I do chat with relatives and friends regularly on the line phones when they call me. I ordered the Plantronics AC/DC wall adaptor for the M12 unit from this link AC power adapter for Plantronics MX10/M12 headset phones by PLANTRONICS PLN2650301 for $8.92 and $5 UPS shipping for $13.92 total. Since the Plantronics headset and amplifier are an expensive item at retail, I figured that I should also have the AC DC power adaptor to use it. Staples carries the item on the internet, but I am not sure they have it in our local store. CIO
Note: <888> 10/13/04 Wednesday 1:55 P.M.: I went out after the last message. I went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue, and I sat out at various locations. I used the bathroom at the senior and arts center. I then drove down by the waterfront. I then went by Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street. I then went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop. I ran into a former neighbor whom I had not seen in a while, and I was happy to see the former neighbor. At the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop, I bought a Plantronics www.plantronics.com H51 Supra One Ear Headband Headset http://store.yahoo.com/ahernstore/h51.html and Plantronics M12 Vista Universal Modular Adapter http://www.ahernstore.com/m12.html with headset extension cord all for $5. I helped a neighbor load a computer table into my Volvo with the seats down, and I delivered it back to my building with my neighbor, and I put it in the neighbors apartment. I then put the Volvo rear seats back up. I tried to get the Plantronics adaptor and headset to work, but I could not get it to work. I tried putting new batteries in it, and I tried it on several different telephones. Instead of returning it for $5 refund, I will try getting to work at a later time. I left the batteries in it that came with it. It might be a problem with telephones that I am trying to use it on. I moved my Volvo to its usual place. I picked up my mail. CIO
Note: <888> 10/13/04 Wednesday 7:15 A.M.: Dinner was delicious. I will now shut down the computer, and I will clean up, and I will go out for some daytime activity. CIO
Note: <888> 10/13/04 Wednesday 6:45 A.M.: I finished reading the Volvo Owner's Manual. Basically at 100,000 miles the fuel filter needs to replaced and the EGR valve needs to be cleaned, so hopefully that has been done. I have about 98,600 miles on it currently. I will now reheat the barbeque boneless breast of chicken breast, steamed white rice, and steamed baby green peas, which I will eat with a glass of 2% low fat milk. CIO
Note: <888> 10/13/04 Wednesday 4:25 A.M.: I emailed the relative that I got the Volvo from about whether the fuel filter was replaced, when it was recently serviced. I put away the laundry. I will now start reading the second half of the Volvo owner's manual. CIO
Note: <888> 10/13/04 Wednesday 3:20 A.M.: I was up at 1 A.M.. I had breakfast of oatmeal with half of a sliced banana, two slices of toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I started two loads of laundry, and I have 40 minutes to go on the dry cycle. I put clean linens on the bed in the bedroom. I took off the summer blanket from the bed, and I put on the winter blanket. I also put the heavy comforter at the end of the bed, and I will spread it out over the bed once it gets colder. I put another comforter on the far end of the blue sofa. I threw out some garbage. I refilled the Glade plug-in refill in the kitchen with a 60% mixture of English Leather cologne and 40% of 91% isopropyl alcohol leaving a half inch of air at the top. I am able to remove the lid of the Glade plug-in refill with a standard screw driver, and I use a miniature funnel to fill it. CIO
Note: <888> 10/12/04 Tuesday 3:45 P.M.: I heated and ate a 18.8 ounce can of Campbell's Select garlic and potato soup, which I ate with a glass of iced tea. I filled out the Volvo change of ownership card to send to Volvo. I chatted with a relative. I will now shut down the computer, and I will go to bed. CIO
Note: <888> 10/12/04 Tuesday 2:35 P.M.: While at Stamford Volvo www.stamford.com I chatted with the service manager, and I was told an oil and oil filter change is $40, so I will have it done there, since it is only about $5 more than Oil Star, and Volvo recommends using Volvo oil filters which are better for a Volvo. My relative that previously owned the car had the car totally checked out before I took possession of the Volvo, so I guess the 100,000 mile checkup has been done. I looked in the Volvo manual, and it says at 100,000 miles the fuel filter needs to be replaced, so I will check to see if it has been done. If they had to do it, it would be $85. Also the told me, they do NOT recommend that the engines be steamed cleaned, since it potentially could cause problems. The EGR system is suppose to be cleaned at 100,000 miles too. Thus I have about 2650 miles until the next oil change, which they recommend being done every 3,000 miles. CIO
Note: <888> 10/12/04 Tuesday 2:15 P.M.: I went out after the last message. I went by Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street. I then drove down by the waterfront. I next drove over to Stamford Volvo www.stamfordvolvo.com , and I toured the new car showroom to see what the new models look like. I then went to the parts department, and I bought the headlamp wiper blades wiper blade kit #274432-4 for $19.95 plus $1.20 tax for $21.15 total. I then had a duplicate key made of the primary key for $21.27 total. Thus I now have three primary keys and one valet key. The spare keys I keep in my apartment. I next drove over to Old Greenwich, and I toured the Rummage Room thrift shop. I then drove out to Tod's Point, and I parked and sat out at both the southwest parking area and the southeast parking area. I then stopped by the office building at River Road in Cos Cob with all the Christopher Shays and Bush Cheney signs thinking it might be a republican campaign office, but it is not. According to one of our local political representatives that I chatted with the Republican campaign office is in Stamford, Connecticut. I then went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop. I next went by the Greenwich Library, and I read the Greenwich Time. I then returned home. I went upstairs, and my Fedex package from www.llbean.com arrived. I looked at the Volvo owners manual, and it said the headlamp wiper blades just snap on, so I went out, and I installed the new pair of headlamp wiper blades. I put the old pair one of which is still good in the box, and I put them in the luggage compartment lower compartment. I then came upstairs, and I opened up the L.L. package that contained the items on the web linked from L.L.Bean: Factory Stores , and then on the top right of the Factory store page, I clicked on Online Bargains L.L.Bean: Sale , that I bought for $22.95 in extra large size in harvest yellow L.L.Bean: Trail Model Fleece Pullover and for $14.95 in blue and extra large L.L.Bean: Two-Layer Duofold® Underwear, Pants plus $6.95 shipping via Fedex for $44.85 total. They fit me fine. I put the Duofold underwear pants on the right side of the bedroom door entrance with the other cotton long underwear pants. I put the harvest yellow fleece pullover on a hanger, and I hung it in the left living room closet sideways, so it is easily accessible. I called the Greenwich Housing authority, and I left a message with our tenant representative that I had changed cars, but I still have the same Connecticut license plate, and I gave the Volvo year and model and color. CIO
Note: <888> 10/12/04 Tuesday 8:25 A.M.: Dinner was delicious. I will now shut down the computer. I will unplug the AC power charger from the power strip and from the Husky lantern. It should be fully charged. I will then go back out downtown. CIO
Note: <888> 10/12/04 Tuesday 7:50 A.M.: I took two boneless breasts of chicken, and I put them in a Pyrex pie dish, and I rubbed them in olive oil on both sides. I seasoned both sides with garlic power, Old Bay Seasoning, chicken and meat seasoning, ground black pepper, celery salt, basil, and Italian spices. I put Kraft Bulls Eye barbeque sauce on both sides. I am cooking them in the Farberware convection oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 35 minutes. I will eat one, and I will refrigerate the other in a Rubbermaid container. I am also steaming a 10 ounce package of America's Choice frozen baby peas, half of which I will eat, and the other half I will refrigerate in a Rubbermaid container . I also rinsed in a metal bowl underneath hot water a cup of Carolina white rice, and I strained it in a metal strainer underneath hot water. I put it in the China Village rice cooker, and I added 14 ounces of water, two tablespoons of olive oil, and a teaspoon of sesame oil. I put the inner and outer lids on the China Village rice steamer, and I put it in the microwave oven on high for 11 minutes, and then I let it stand with the lids on it for five minutes. I will also eat half of the rice. I will refrigerate the other half in a Rubbermaid container, and I will eat it all with a glass of ice tea shortly.
Note: <888> 10/12/04 Tuesday 7:05 A.M.: I tested the Husky lantern, and it works fine. I will continue to let it fully charge until 9 A.M.. One is suppose to let it stand for two minutes before using it after charging. I cleaned the air filters on my 15,500 BTU General Electric Profile air conditioner with the remote control. I then disconnected it from its heavy duty extension cord, and I put the remote control in the remote control holder behind the green sofa on the window shelf. I then checked the duct tape surrounding the two layers of Plexiglas to the left the air conditioner, and the duct tape is still in good shape. I put a layer of duct tape around the edges to add more strength and seal out any small leaks. I pushed in some insulation hand towels around the air conditioner. I put the sheets of Styrofoam to the left and in front of the air conditioner, and I held them in place with duct tape. I took the large bobby pins off the curtain above the air conditioner, and I put them on the window sill to the right of the air conditioner, so the curtain now hangs down over the air conditioner to provide additional thermal barrier. Thus I have it secured against winter drafts. I moved the Lasko box fan in front of the air conditioner on the window shelf to have available to blow on low fan the electric heat from the radiators out into the room once I turn the heat on instead of letting it rise into the false ceiling, once it gets cold. I spackled all the picture hook holes and other sheet rock holes in the apartment, so they are now covered up with spackle, and it should dry about the color of the white paint. I chatted with a friend. I rehung the 2 foot by 4 foot Saudi Arabian hospitality flag from the center hallway bookcase, since with amount of energy we consume in this area during the winter, we all know somebody in Saudi Arabia is making money, not that any of them ever need to look me up. I also put another pair of mittens and heavy ski gloves out on the mahogany end table by the apartment entrance with the other pair of gloves, two knit caps, and four scarves. CIO
Note: <888> 10/12/04 Tuesday 4:35 A.M.: I chatted with a relative after the last message. Today when I was departing from downtown, and I saw two black Chevrolet vans from Vermont, one of them had Rossignol http://www.rossignol.com/ on it, and the other had Scott snowboards http://www.scottusa.com/ on it, which I would take as a sure sign of colder weather. I also noticed recently a charter bus loading people up with skis and ski equipment at the south Greenwich train station outdoor parking lot across from the Delamar hotel, so possibly there is snow in the mountains in the north country. I was up at 12:30 A.M., and I had breakfast of oatmeal with half of a sliced banana, two slices of toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I cleaned up, and I went downtown. I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area. I sat out at various locations. There is a new sports shoe shop just south of the Greenwich Avenue movie theatre that sells soccer shoes. I drove down by the waterfront. I returned home. Although my Volvo has a faulty light bulb indicator light, I checked the lights anyway, and they are all alright. For my Slymaker lantern and Slaymaker auto battery jump start system, I can not find parts for either on the internet. They Slymaker lantern might be knock off, since it is made in China. CIO
Note: <888> 10/11/04 Monday 3:25 P.M.: I will now shut down the computer, and I will go to bed. CIO
Note: <888> 10/11/04 Monday 3:15 P.M.: I took a four ounce can of sliced mushrooms, and I drained and rinsed the water out of it with the lid. I put a few tablespoons of olive oil in a small sauté pan, and I heated it over medium high electric heat, and I sautéed the mushrooms over medium to low heat stirring them regularly. I put about four 4.5 tablespoons of olive oil and two pads of margarine in my 10 inch omelet pan, and I heated it over medium high electric heat. I sliced seven 1 inch by 2 inch by 1/8 th inch slices of Stop and Shop cheese. I cracked three extra large eggs in a metal bowl, and I added about 1/8th of a cup of 2% low fat milk, and I whisked it all together with a metal whisk. Once the olive oil was heated in the omelet pan and the mushrooms were heated, I added the egg mixture to the omelet pan, and I lower the heat to medium. I let it cook, until it began to harden on top. I then flipped the omelet with a spatula, and I covered one half of it with the five slices of the cheese and about 90% of the mushrooms. I then folded the bare half over the covered half, and put it on a warm dinner plate. I put the remaining two slices of cheese on it and the remaining sautéed mushrooms and covered it with a medium to light covering grated parmesan cheese. While cooking the omelet, I also toasted two slices of bread, and I put two pads of margarine on each and spread it, and I cut the toast in half. I had it all for dinner with a glass of 2% low fat milk. I don't wash my omelet pan, but I just wipe it dry with a paper towel, so it does not stick in the future, and it gradually conditions the omelet pan. CIO
Note: <888> 10/11/04 Monday 2:20 P.M.: I went out after the last message, and I went by Home Depot at Port Chester, New York. I bought three Duracell 3 volt disk #2032 batteries for $1.96 each, four Duracell 3 volt disk #2025 batteries for $1.96 each, a Belkin six outlet 3 foot cord power strip for $2.97, two packages of four Philips DuraMax 15 watt clear long life bent tip bulbs for $2.49 a package, a 8 ounce container of Custom Building Products Interior Spackling paste for $1.97, a Allway 1.25 inch #09001 putty knife for $3.64, and a Husky 2.25 million candle power corded, cordless, rechargeable spotlight with built in stand and area utility light for $24.99 plus $3.92 sales tax for $56.19 total. I noticed that Home Depot does not have small hand baskets for when one makes small purchases, and I had to carry all of my items, since the if I had put the items in a cart, the small batteries might have fallen out. I next returned to Greenwich, and I went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop. Lamps are half price. I then went downtown, and there is no charge for parking today on the Columbus Day holiday. I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area. I used the bathroom at Starbucks since the Senior and Arts center is closed. I sat out at various locations. During my walk, I stopped by CVS, and I bought two 35 ounce bottles of Lysol All Purpose Disinfectant cleaner lemon breeze scent for $2.50 each plus .30 tax for $5.30 total. I also used the ATM machine at Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Greenwich Avenue. I next drove down by the waterfront. I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought a half gallon of Stop and Shop 2% low fat milk for $2.69, a package of 18 Stop and Shop large white eggs for $1.50, a 24 ounce bar of Stop and Shop Monterey Jack cheese for $4.99, buy one get one free of ten ounce bags of spinach for $1.99 both 10 ounce bags, and a couple of days slightly old pound package of Portobello mushrooms for .99 for $12.16 total. I then went by the Arnold Bread outlet, and I bought a fresh loaf of Arnold country wheat bread for $2.19 and a 5.5 ounce box of Arnold Seasoned croutons regular cut for .99 for $3.18 total. I then returned home. My headlights on the Volvo were set to come on when one turns on the ignition which is the Canadian setting, since the Canadians run their automobile lights 24 hours a day. However, since it is light around here in the winter, I used a little screw drive in the compartment between the seats, and I turn the little screw by the headlight switch from the extreme right to the extreme left, so the lights only come on when I turn them on with the light switch. Thus I should save on replacing exterior light bulbs on the car. I read this detail in the first half of the Volvo manual, and I still have to read the second half of the Volvo manual. I brought my purchases up to my apartment, and I connected the power strip to the existing power strip underneath the maple side table giving me additional power outlets at that location. I opened the Husky lantern, and I read the instructions. I plugged its AC transformer into the power strip by the maple side table, and I plugged it into the lantern to charge. I also opened the lantern stand for it to sit properly. I will leave the Husky lantern at that location to have it available easily. It can not be run off AC power, but it has DC automobile cigarette adaptor with long cord that it can be run off directly with out charging. The first AC charge takes 20 hours and then 12 to 15 hours for recharges after that. One has to disconnect it after charging. It will be fully charged at 9 A.M. tomorrow morning. The 2.25 million watt beam works for at least 20 minutes on a charge and the work light works for up to 14 hours. I guess I could plug it into my Volvo cigarette lighter and use it to signal Long Island across Long Island sound in case anyone were watching at night, but alas I don't know Morse Code http://www.babbage.demon.co.uk/morseabc.html . The main spotlight beam bulb is replaceable and the battery is replaceable, and it is good for 500 charges. My old Slaymaker million watt lantern has not been holding a charge for the last year. I also put a new 2025 3 volt disk battery in my second remote keyless entry devise for the Volvo on my lobster key chain. I put the spare 3 volt disk batteries in my left top desk drawer with the other ones. I put the putty knife and spackle with my tool on the floor of the sweater closet in the hallway. I put the spare bent tips bulbs in my bedroom mahogany bureau with the other bulbs. CIO
Note: <888> 10/11/04 Monday 7:05 A.M.: I steamed the other half of a pound of angle cut sliced asparagus in a microwave proof plastic pot covering the asparagus with water and pressing the vegetable button on the General Electric microwave. In the microwave oven I also reheated the barbeque boneless breast of chicken that I made last night and the other half of the steamed white rice, all of which I ate with a glass of iced tea and a cup of coffee. I watched a bit of television. For green tea health information http://www.teaforhealth.com/ . I went through some of my regular computer sites. I will now shut down the computer, and I will clean up, and I will go out. I think I will first go over to Home Depot www.homedepot.com in Port Chester, New York, when I first go out. CIO
Note: <888> 10/11/04 Monday 5:20 A.M.: My www.llbean.com order is due to arrive tomorrow according to Fedex www.fedex.com tracking. I am not sure whether I will open it right away or save it for a Christmas present. It depends on whether I need the Polar Fleece pull over and Durafold long underwear or not. I went through my email. CIO
Note: <888> 10/11/04 Monday 4:35 A.M.: I printed out fifty calling cards, and I will keep 10 in my wallet. Besides my personal information and picture, I put "Volunteer Personal Computer Systems Technician and Reference Work on the Internet". At the far end of the blue couch, beside having my car maintenance items stored underneath the maple side table and mahogany end table, at the far end of the blue sofa at the end of the blue sofa, I have my two full length folding beach chairs, and my director's chair, and underneath that end of the blue sofa, I have the folding wooden card table chair, and above my bed in the bedroom in the false ceiling I have my three ground level blue and white folding beach chairs, thus I have five beach chairs stored in the apartment besides the directors chair and the folding wooden chair, I use to stand on for high reaching. CIO
Note: <888> 10/11/04 Monday 3:25 A.M.: Happy Columbus Day. Columbus Day is the day in Nantucket when the summer people leave to discover America, so keep an eye out for any people traveling from Nantucket. After the last message, I replaced the gold towel covering my stored car maintenance items in the apartment with a light blue towel, so I have two medium blue towels and a light blue towel covering them. I was awake at 9 P.M., when I chatted with a relative. I had breakfast of oatmeal with half of a sliced banana, toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I went back to bed until 2:30 A.M.. I turned on MSNBC, and there was a program about the volcanic eruption in Montserrat http://www.mvo.ms/ , which showed how dangerous volcanic eruptions are and the devastation of the capitol of Montserrat named Plymouth. I will now print out some more calling cards. CIO

CIO
Note: <888> 10/10/04 Sunday 12:05 P.M.: I took the hanger off the bath robe, and I hung it from the hook, so it does not protrude as much in to the bathroom doorway entrance, and I hung the bath towel from the hook over the mirror. I also put the packages of mollies that I did not use in the yellow tool box in the hallway sweater closet. CIO
Note: <888> 10/10/04 Sunday 11:35 A.M.: I went out after the last message, and I chatted with some neighbors. I went by Exxon next to the Greenwich Library to see if they have the "Support Our Troops" magnetic ribbons to put on cars, but they only had "God Bless America" magnetic ribbons. I then drove down by the waterfront, and I chatted with some of the regular fishermen. I then went downtown, and I chatted with a couple of morning people. I sat out briefly, and I stopped by Zyn stationary, but they did not have the magnetic ribbons. I then drove by the Greenwich Hardware store http://www.greenwichhardware.com/ , and they have both the red, white, and blue and the yellow magnetic "Support Our Troops" ribbons, but there is a warning on them that since they are magnetic and can rust, they will damage a car's paint, unless one moves them every 24 hours. Although I support our troops, I do not feel like damaging my car's paint job, so I did not buy one. I did buy a Amerock made in Taiwan from Rockford, Illinois BP404C solid brass garment hook with four mounting screw holes and six brass screws for $9.99 and three 2 pack of 3 inch by about a quarter inch 5024 toggle bolts for $1.29 a package of two plus .83 sales tax for $14.69 total. I then returned home. I tried mounting the brass hook on the left inside of the bathroom door above the mirror, but I drilled 17 holes, and I kept hitting the aluminum studs. I finally mounted it with four brass screws on the left inside door frame, and it is very secure with four brass screws. I then took the cranberry bathrobe off the brass hat and coat valet rack in the living room, and I hung it on the brass bathroom hook with a heavy duty plastic hanger along with my bath towel. Thus the mirror is not covered by the bath towel hanging from the hook above it. However, the bath robe does hang a bit in the bathroom door opening, but it is not a solid object. I then moved the ship pictures around to cover the drilled holes in the sheet rock. When I have time, I will buy some spackle, and I will fill them. However, for now it is perfectly presentable. I then moved the brass hat and coat rack valet stand from the far end of the blue sofa, and I put it in front of the wire shopping cart rack behind the apartment entrance door, and I still have the summer hats on it. I drank some iced tea. CIO

Note: <888> 10/10/04 Sunday 4:15 A.M.: I just used this form http://www.britainusa.com/functions/feedback/enquiry.asp to email the British consulate in Manhattan with this message.
My web site
is at:
http://www.geocities.com/mikelscott/
I use to be a neighbor of yours in Manhattan, and I spent many a cold winter's
night walking around your consulate and consular residences.
One of the apartments I worked out of was
at 420 East 49th street in Manhattan, so obviously I know the neighborhood. Also
the Scotts were about the first United Kingdom family in Manhattan arriving with
the first Dutch settlement. Since I quit going into Manhattan at night to walk
around the east side of Manhattan after I was mugged by Shawn Robinson from
Bermuda 11 years ago, you have not had my expert experience, which I put towards
the internet. I am still in Greenwich, Connecticut U.S.A. 06830-2902. My mother
is still a neighbor of the Bushs in Kennebunkport, Maine, so I let the U.S.
government deal with the British now instead of dealing with them directly
myself, however I do stop by the Greenwich, Connecticut library most every day
after my walks downtown. I saw someone a week ago last Friday at the Valley Road
post office here in Greenwich with her chauffeur that looked like Lady Thatcher.
I have seen people in Greenwich that look like most other prominent British
subjects, so it is up to you to determine if they are the real ones or just
actors trying to profiteer off the wealthy established Greenwich residents. I
try to present a viewpoint like Arthur Clarke reporting from America on my web
log at:
http://www.geocities.com/mikelscott/note02.htm
Any questions or information let me know. Owing to arthritis and limited income,
I will probably never be visiting the United Kingdom in my life time, but I have
tried to help our on this side of the pond.
Yours Truly,
Michael Louis Scott

Note: <888> 10/10/04 Sunday 3:15 A.M.: I chatted with the Casa Marina desk in Key West, Florida http://www.casamarinakeywest.com/ at 1-305-296-3535, and I told them about the ghost that I used to see in the Casa Marina, when I lived there while it was under renovation back during the winter of 1978. The fellow was from Poland, and he told me had heard about the ghost. I then chatted with the British Embassy in Washington D.C. at 1-202-588-7800, and I told them about an unusual sighting at the Valley Road post office in Greenwich, Connecticut a week ago last Friday. I then called the U.S.A. Embassy in London at 44 02074999000 , and I told them about the same sighting. Since I try to respect visitors and residents privacy in this town, I can not relate the nature of the sighting. Of course lots of people look like prominent British citizen and others try to impersonate them, so I will let the British experts figure out the case. For British travelers, this page might be useful http://www.britainusa.com/functions/contact.asp . CIO
Note: <888> 10/10/04 Sunday 2:30 A.M.: I enjoyed dinner. After dinner, I ate the last of the dried papaya strips. CIO
Note: <888> 10/10/04 Sunday 2:00 A.M.: I refrigerated in a Rubbermaid container two of the boneless breasts of chicken that I bought. I took the other two, and I put them in a Pyrex pie dish, and I rubbed them in olive oil on both sides. I seasoned both sides with garlic power, Old Bay Seasoning, chicken and meat seasoning, ground black pepper, celery salt, basil, and Italian spices. I put Texas Best mesquite barbeque sauce on the bottom side of the chicken and Kraft Bulls Eye barbeque sauce on the top side. I am cooking them in the Farberware convection oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 35 minutes. I will eat one, and I will refrigerate the other. I am also steaming over medium high heat a half pound of inch long sliced asparagus for fifteen minutes in a Revere pot with lid with the steamer tray in the pot with an inch of water to hold the asparagus. CIO
Note: <888> 10/10/04 Sunday 1:05 A.M.: I went downtown after the last message. I went by the Exxon gasoline station next to the Greenwich Library, and I bought $12 of premium unleaded gasoline for $2.439 a gallon for about 13 miles per gallon usage. I also bought a Double Dollars scratch card for a dollar, but I lost when I scratched it off, when I returned home. I then went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue including the train station area, and I sat out at various locations. I then drove down by the waterfront. I next went by the Food Emporium, and I bought a package of boneless breasts of chicken for $2.99 a pound for $5.95, 16 ounces of Driscoll's strawberries for $2, two half gallons of Tropicana Premium orange juice with 50% less calories for $2 each, fresh asparagus at $2.49 a pound for $2.51, a 20 ounce bag of America's Choice onion rings for $1.79 for $17.25 total.

Note: <888> 10/09/04 Saturday 8:20 P.M.: I chatted with two relatives. One relative down in Vero Beach, Florida http://www.tcpalm.com/tcp/press_journal just spent 10 hours cleaning the mold out of her refrigerator, and said it was pretty bad down there. The relative said none of the usual restaurants are open except one, and they are serving hurricane lunches and dinners. CIO
Note: <888> 10/09/04 Saturday 7:50 P.M.: I had a telephone call from a relative at 11 A.M.. I woke up at 4 P.M.. I had breakfast of oatmeal with half of a sliced banana, toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I went outside, and I picked up my mail downstairs. I went back to bed until 7:30 P.M.. I restored the startup programs on my computer by running "msconfig" . I had made up a list of them when I originally unchecked them. CIO
Note: <888> 10/09/04 Saturday 3:10 A.M.: Instead of reading the Volvo manual, I watched some television. I ate two bowls of guacamole Doritos chips and three papaya strips with some iced tea. I will now shut down the computer, and I will go to bed soon. CIO
Note: <888> 10/09/04 Saturday 1:30 A.M.: I went out after the last message. I went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue including the railroad station area. I sat out at various locations. I drove down by the waterfront. I just now returned home, and I ate two dried papaya strips. I will start reading the Volvo manual again. CIO
Note: <888> 10/08/04 Friday 10:50 P.M.: I will now shut down the computer, and I will shower and clean up. I will then go out for some fresh air. CIO
Note: <888> 10/08/04 Friday 10:35 P.M.: I am microwaving a Maria Callender's 16 ounce country fried chicken dinner with gravy and mashed potatoes and corn on the cob, which I will eat soon with a glass of iced tea. CIO
Note: <888> 10/08/04 Friday 10:10 P.M.: I am listening and watching to the Presidential debate on television. After the last message, I sorted through my periodical literature, and I threw out most of the computer magazines that I do not have time to read along with some other periodical literature. I saved the weekly local newspapers to catch up with the local news. I did not fall asleep after the last message until about 6 A.M. I ate 10 Town House crackers with 1 inch by 1.5 inch by 1/8th inch slices of Kraft Monterey jack cheese. I also ate two dried papaya slices. I had a telephone call from a relative at 11 A.M. this morning. I was up at 5 P.M.. I had breakfast of oatmeal with half of a sliced banana, toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I moved the brass coat rack from behind the far end of the blue sofa, and I put it against the wall in front of the bath towel rack in the bathroom. I left the hats on it, and I hung my burgundy bathrobe on it. I hung my long down filled Rainforest winter coat from a wooden coat hanger on the open bathroom door. I went outside, and I move my Volvo by the apartment entrance, and I unloaded the items in the rear cargo area of the Volvo, and I put them by the building entrance. I put the three pairs of jumper cables and the roof rack tie down straps underneath the cargo area in the storage area. I put the Volvo back in its usual storage area. I used my cart, and I brought the items up to my apartment. I put them underneath the mahogany end tables and underneath the maple side table. I cover the items underneath the maple side table with two blue and one gold towels, so they are not as conspicuous. My tool box and other tool items are underneath the mahogany end tables. According to the label on the tire cables, they will not fit on the Volvo. I guess I should get rid of them. The only item in the open part of the back cargo area is my collapsible cart, I use to haul items. Thus I do not have the extra weight in the rear end of the Volvo, so it should be more economical to drive. Now that I have the rear cargo area empty in the Volvo, I can use it for moving items that I might want to dispose of from the apartment or for groceries or other items and still have room for four to five passengers in the Volvo. Also it should be less wear and tear on the rear suspension system. I picked up my mail, and I received the second Volvo key with remote control opener, so I now have two full service keys with remote controls along with the Valet key. I am keeping the Valet key and the second key with the remote control opener in the apartment I did my house cleaning and watering the plants. CIO
Note: <888> 10/08/04 Friday 3:40 A.M.: I read half of the 1995 Volvo 850 Turbo station wagon owner's manual. I will now shut down the computer, and I will go to bed soon. CIO
Note: <888> 10/08/04 Friday 1:35 A.M.: I ate two dried papaya strips. I am still in the process of reading the Volvo manual. I will have to check to see if the fuel filter has been replaced or not which is due to be replaced at a 100,000 miles. Everything else looks like it probably has been done except for maybe cleaning the EGR system. I will have to check with my relatives the previous owners. I also found a change of ownership card, which I will fill out and mail in to Volvo. I also took from the left living room closet shelf the two empty suit cases, the empty flight bags, the bag with my sunscreen and beach towels, and the three 3.5 inch floppy disk cases, and I put them in the false ceiling in front of the French reproduction sitting chair. I took the four kitchen appliances, and I put them on the left living room closet shelf. I went outside briefly. I am thinking in the daytime of taking the items from the rear of the Volvo wagon and putting them on the floor underneath the tables in the living room in my apartment again. Although the living room would not look as neat, I would have 400 pounds less weight in the Volvo for better fuel economy, and the rear compartment area would be available for transporting larger items than could fit in the back seat of the Volvo. I have the original sales slip, and the Volvo when it was new 10 years ago was a $35,000 with tax value car, so I would like to treat it well and take care of it. I could always cover the items stored on the floor in the apartment to make it look neater. Basically with the rear area of the Volvo cleared, I would also be able to move some items out of the apartment like redundant computer equipment and maybe some other items. It would also be easier if I had to transport a party with luggage should the need ever arise. Possibly once I removed some of the other items from the apartment, I would be able to store the car items less conspicuously in the apartment. However, today after I sleep, I will be doing my usual house cleaning, so I will have to think about it some more. Now back to reading the Volvo manual. CIO
Note: <888> 10/07/04 Thursday 11:45 P.M.: I reheated the half of the 16 ounce box of Stop and Shop cooked vermicelli along with the half of a 26 ounce jar of Master Choice marinara sauce in microwave proof containers, and I put on a coating of grated parmesan cheese, and I ate it all with a glass of iced tea. I will start reading the 1995 Volvo 850 Turbo manual shortly. CIO
Note: <888> 10/07/04 Thursday 10:50 P.M.: I woke up this morning for a while, and I ate a bowl of triscuts and two dried papaya sticks. I finally woke up at 1 P.M.. I had breakfast of oatmeal with half of a sliced banana, toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I cleaned up, and I made my 3 P.M. appointment. I then went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop, and I bought a like new donated by the Greenwich Hospital Compaq V90 19 inch monitor for $20. Today it still sells new for considerably more. I next went by the ATM machine at Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street. I then went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue, and I sat out at various locations. During my walk, I picked up a prescription at CVS, and I also stopped by the Greenwich Hardware store. As I was completing my walk, I ran into another regular walker, and we walked back up Greenwich Avenue, and we toured the J. Crew shop where the old Greenwich Drug store use to be, although it looks the same, it is now a new building. We walked from the top of Greenwich Avenue east on East Putnam Avenue, and we took a break at the tables outside of Whole Foods. We then continued our walk to the parking lot on the east side of Christ Church by Old Church Road, and then we walked back and took a break at Whole Foods outdoor tables, and then we continued back down Greenwich Avenue to the senior and arts center where we parted company. I used the bathroom at the senior and arts center. I checked out the prices at Starbucks www.starbucks.com by the senior and arts center, and although they raised their more deluxe coffee prices to close to $3, one can still buy a basic cup of coffee there for $1.40 which is a pretty good deal for Greenwich Avenue considering they pay $50,000 a month to rent that location, and thus to sit inside in a comfortable atmosphere on Greenwich Avenue for $1.40 to $3 a cup of coffee is a reasonable bargain considering what the prices are at the other shops in the area. However, recently that location has not been busy. My theory is they operate the shop newly remodeled at a loss to advertise the brand name to the local investor community. I normally do not drink coffee or other beverages when I am out of my apartment, since I drink so much iced tea, I would frequently have to go to the bathroom more often, when there might not be a bathroom available. I next drove down by the waterfront, and the youngsters still have not gotten cold yet, so they are still hanging out down by the waterfront. I next went by the Greenwich Library, and I read the Greenwich Time. I then returned home, and I used my cart that I keep in the back of my Volvo wagon to carry up the Compaq V90 19 inch monitor. On the bedroom side table, I moved the 17 in monitor from the HP Vectra XU computer to the floor by the open bedroom door, and I then put a canvas bag with the Acer 484 4 meg laptop on top of that monitor, and I put the Rubbermaid hamper with the slacks that do not fit me on top of it, and then the Compaq laptop 486 with 8 megs of memory and its case on top of that. I moved the 19 inch Dell monitor from my living room Dell backup computer to the HP Vectra XU computer in the bedroom. I put the Compaq V90 19 inch monitor with the Dell backup computer, and I adjusted its settings. I then took the cart back down to the Volvo, and I put it in the rear area. I then brought up the 1995 Volvo 850 Turbo wagon monitor manual to try to read tonight instead of working on the computer. I also drank some iced tea. CIO

Note: <888> 10/07/04 Thursday 1:25 A.M.: I put $25 on my Net2Phone www.net2phone.com account, so I now have $33.44 on the account. I can chat through the internet for 2 cents a minute in the United States, and use my Net2Phone card for a telephone to telephone call, it is 3.9 cents a minute. Also there is a PC2Phone rate of 4.9 cents a minute to the United Kingdom which is suppose to be an English speaking area of the world, if one wants to chat or even 4.9 cents a minutes to France, if one needs to practice their French or even 3.9 cents a minute to Australia. Alas, when I am on a night schedule here in America, there does not seem to be many people to talk to. Of course if two people have high speed internet connections, they can use Net2Phone to chat for free over the internet. CIO
Note: <888> 10/07/04 Thursday 1:05 A.M.: I checked the cables along my exterior walls to make sure they are not in contact with the electric radiators, so the cables do not melt when I have to turn the heat on. I made and ate my usual salad www.geocities.com/mikelscott/salad.htm . Instead of tuna fish, I use a tin of sardines that I chopped. For the cheddar cheese portion, I used Kraft www.kraft.com Monterey Jack cheese. I used all of the other regular ingredients. I ate the salad with a glass of iced tea. CIO
Note: <888> 10/06/04 Wednesday 10:50 P.M.: When I returned home, I also put $10 on my Mac Gray laundry card, and I now have $19.85 left on the card. I put out my four scarves, two knit caps, and my pair of brown leather gloves on the mahogany side table at the apartment entrance. I also hung my four pairs of cotton long underwear on the right hook at the bedroom entrance. Today before I left the apartment, I moved all of my summer shirts from the left center of the bedroom closet to the far left, and I put all of my winter shirts in the left center position. I have an ample supply of winter clothes. CIO
Note: <888> 10/06/04 Wednesday 10:30 P.M.: I showered and cleaned up. I chatted with a relative. On the Uniden Cordless telephone, one has to make sure when one puts it back in the cradle that one giggles it, so it makes contact and the green charging light comes on. I went out, and I mailed the Northeast Utilities electricity payment at the Valley Road post office. My monthly budget amount has been raised 6% from last year, but according to the broadcast media, it is suppose to be a colder winter. I next went by Val's liquor store at the Stop and Shop shopping center, and I bought a 10 ounce bottle of Angostura bitters for $8.79 plus .52 tax for $9.31 total. I noticed that wine prices have gone up a lot. I then went downtown, and the usual parking area I park at by the Board of Education is closed for pouring cement on the sidewalk at its entrance, so I parked on the other side of the board of education across from the post office. I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue including the train station area. I picked up two Greenwich and one New Haven line train schedules. I stopped by the Korean fruit and vegetable market just south of the post office, and I bought a package of dried papaya spears for $3.49 a pound for $3.18 and three Dole bananas for .56 for $3.74 total. I used the ATM machine at Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Greenwich Avenue. I went by CVS, and I bought two United States of America flag sets with wall stands for 90% off for $1.29 each and two RTH 7 piece coaster sets for .87 each plus .10 tax for $4.42 total. I then bought four 10 packs of black Scripto stick pens for .25 each package plus .06 tax for $1.06 total. During my walk I noticed that pedestrians are using the Porta Potty at the top of Greenwich Avenue that the sidewalk construction people have placed there. I completed my walk and sitting out for a while. I drove down by the waterfront. I then went by the Greenwich Library, and I chatted with another library volunteer. I returned home. I left the two U.S.A. flag sets in the back of my Volvo station wagon in the luggage area where I keep my mechanics tools and other car maintenance items. I put the two coaster sets on the Danish bar to have available. I put the pens with the spare laser printer paper underneath the living room desk on top of the box of spare computer cables. Yesterday I also put the tube of CPU to CPU cooling fan silicone grease in the left top desk drawer of the living room desk. I drank some iced tea. CIO

I went by the Shell gasoline station on West Putnam Avenue, and I checked the air in my tires for 32 pounds per square inch all around. The left front tire was down a couple of pounds. At the Shell gasoline station, I bought a Christmas Tree Ocean Breeze auto air freshner scent card for $1.39 plus .08 tax for $1.47 total. I put it in the glove box to have available. I just now returned home, and I drank some iced tea. Norton Speed Disk had finished running on the C: drive. CIO
Note: <888> 10/06/04 Wednesday 12:50 A.M.: I finished the backup of the C: drive to the D: drive with XP backup automated system recovery. I also backed up in one file all the files except the system and program files and in another backup the "My Documents" folder and in a third backup the music files. While doing the backups, I boiled a 16 ounce box of Stop and Shop vermicelli for six minutes. I ate half and refrigerated half. I reheated half of a 26 ounce jar of Master Choice Marinara sauce which I put on the vermicelli along with grated parmesan cheese. I ate it all with a glass of iced tea. One of the Live update WMI files still does not install, but all of the others did. I ran Norton Win Doctor and Ad-aware SE. I will now do a C: drive to D: drive backup with XP Backup Automated System Recovery after having moved the D: drive files to the C: drive to backup the entire C: drive to the empty D: drive. I went outside, and I picked up the mail downstairs. I have the Uniden cordless phone plugged in, and it seems to be charging. One has to make sure when one puts it in the cradle that the green light comes on for it to charge. Sometimes, the green light does not come on, if one puts it in the cradle wrong. I put clean linens on the bed in the bedroom. I am just about ready to start the dry cycle of two loads of laundry. CIO
Note: <888> 10/05/04 Tuesday 11:55 A.M.: Good news, I have the computer all fixed, except for some minor tweaking. Earlier, I ate 10 Town House crackers with ten 1.5 inch by 1 inch by 1/8th inch slices of Kraft Cracker Barrel sharp cheddar cheese with some iced tea. I then tried installing the VIA drivers from my motherboard CD, but it did not improve the system. I then returned the IDE PCI drivers to the XP non VIA drivers. I then copied the XP SP2 CD that Microsoft sent me to my D: drive. I then set the IDE 1 to PIO mode, and I installed XP SP2, which took a while, since PIO mode is slower. I tried to reboot, and the system would not reboot. I chatted with a friend. I then fiddled with the CMOS settings and the system would still not boot. I then opened up the CPU case, and I removed all of the cards except the PCI video card, and I had already set the CMOS to PCI video. The system booted. I restored some of my CMOS settings and rebooted. I then moved the case over to the dining room table to work on it. I removed the memory. I unmounted the CPU cooler. This permitted me to remove the C: drive. I then exchanged the C: drive from underneath the floppy drive, and I put it in the drive holder that hangs below the drive rack. I put the D: drive where the C: drive use to be. The drive holder below the floppy drive is a quick mount holder that does not work with my drives and there is only room for one screw to tighten it in. I was able to mount the C: drive with four screws, and it is in a cooler part of the case. My new Antec Cobra IDE 133 cable has enough length between the two end connectors to connect the two drives on IDE1. Before in the drive bay underneath the floppy drive, I had the C: drive upside down to permit it to connect with the existing cable length, and it was held in by only one screw. Now both drives are right side up, but the D: drive is only held in by one screw. My computer case does not permit access from one side. I then reconnected the cables. I put more CPU grease on my CPU cooler fan, and previously the CPU grease that came with the CPU cooler fan did not cover my CPU properly leaving part of it without CPU grease. I remounted the CPU cooler fan. I reinstalled the memory. I put back in the cards. I used my small computer vacuum to clean off some dust off the motherboard. I checked my cables for alignment and clearance. I then put the case cover back on, and I connected the CPU to the external cables except the USB cables. I then booted, and the computer booted properly. I then setup the dual monitor settings. I then connected my USB cables, and all the devices showed up in my hardware settings. I then tested the system with Norton Win Doctor 2003, and it did not freeze. I then installed the latest VIA drivers, so I now have the IDE PCI drivers with the latest VIA drivers instead of the XP defaults. I have the IDE settings at DMA. I then tested the system with Norton Win Doctor 2003, Microsoft Money 2002 compressing backup files, and Internet Security 2004 Firewall 2004 searching for internet enabled programs, and all of them worked with out any problems, when previously they did not. Thus the system is up and running as well as it has been running in quite a long time. I still can not get Norton Update to install the Internet Security 2004 WMI updates. I will have to look into that later. Well, I still have some system maintenance to do on the new install, but possibly moving the C: drive to another upright more secure position changed its performance, or more silicone grease on the CPU. Anyway the primary computer system is running much better. I will now shut down the computer. I will eat a peanut butter sandwich with some iced tea. I will then go to bed after being awake 25 hours. CIO
Note: <888> 10/05/04 Tuesday 5:05 A.M.: I changed the Via IDE and the Via PCI drivers to the generic Windows XP drivers. The system hopefully might be a bit more stable. I was able to get Microsoft Money 2002 to compress my Money backup file for storage on my pen driver by running the backup compress option with PIO mode on my C: drive. Norton Win Doctor 2003 still freezes the system, unless I run it with all put the first two options, then the 2nd option, and finally the first option. I ran the System File checker, and I have three print spool files that are not signed and the two NVIDIA files that are not signed from the latest version, but the earlier NVIDIA driver does not make a difference on my system. I did notice that in the "C:\Windows\System32" folder, I have two files "secupd.dat" and "secupd.sig" that are not digitally signed, and according to this page http://www.jsiinc.com/SUBR/tip8500/rh8521.htm they are part of Product Activation, and without them the Windows XP system would not boot. What has me curious is why they are not digitally signed, and when I ran System File checker about a month ago, they were not there, just the three printer spool files. It would seem someone has been tampering with my computer system's Windows XP Product Activation file for it not to be digitally signed. I might try to extract the files from my Windows XP Professional CD and install them on my computer to see if that fixes the problem. "secupd.dat was last modified on August 2, 2004 at 2:20 P.M., and "secupd.sig" was last modified on April 10, 2002 at 6:18 P.M.. CIO
Note: <888> 10/05/04 Tuesday 2:10 A.M.: I reconnected the Uniden cordless telephone, and it seems to be working and not beeping anymore, but it still needs to charge up for 24 hours. My two General Electric and the Uniden Cordless telephones now all have new rechargeable batteries. Generally cordless telephone batteries last about two to three years. My Columbia 2.4 gigahertz cordless telephone is about two years old, but it still works fine. I think its battery is a special order item at Radio Shack. I will now test the computer system with some procedures to see if it freezes or not. CIO
Note: <888> 10/05/04 Tuesday 1:15 A.M.: I went out after the last message. I went by the Greenwich Library, and I watched it closed. For those of you whom are night owls, the Scott Library and York University in the northern suburbs of Toronto, Canada http://www.library.yorku.ca/ccm/Home/homepage.jsp use to be opened 24 hours a day 7 days a week except Christmas Day, but according to their web site, they now have regular hours, so I guess they can not get people to work at night in Canada either. I next went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area, and I sat out at various locations. I used the bathroom at Starbucks, and the new remodeling job looks quite spacious and more festive. I next drove down by the waterfront. It seems like Long Island Sound is still there. I then went by the ATM machine at Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street. I then went by the Food Emporium http://www.thefoodemporium.com/ , and I bought two 12 ounce boxes of America's Choice fish cakes for $1.99 each box, a 4 ounce box of Bremner wafers for $1.99, two 28 ounce cans of Goya chick peas for $1.19 each, two 26 ounce jars of Newman's Own www.newmansown.com tomato and garlic sauce for .99 each jar, a 13 ounce bag of Doritos www.doritos.com guacamole chips for $2, a 5 ounce box of America's Choice thin chocolate covered thin mints for .99, four eight ounce bars of Kraft www.kraft.com cheese two Monterey Jack, one sharp cheddar, and one jalapeño for $1.99 each bar, and two 17 ounce bottles of Master Choice white wine vinegar for $1.14 each for $25.46 total. I then returned home, and I drank a cold Diet Coke www.coke.com in a frozen mug. I put away my purchases. I will mix the Monari balsamic vinegar and the white wine vinegar 50% - 50% in my plastic squeeze bottle to have available for use on salads. I disconnected the telephone cable to the Uniden cordless telephone until it is fully charged. I made and ate my usual salad www.geocities.com/mikelscott/salad.htm . For the cheddar cheese portion, I used Kraft Cracker Barrel 2% low fat sharp cheddar cheese. I used all of the other regular ingredients. I had the salad with a glass of iced tea. Note: <888> 10/04/04 Monday 7:00 P.M.: I was up at 11:30 A.M. this morning. I had breakfast of oatmeal with a sliced half of a banana, toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I went outside, and I picked up the mail. I showered and cleaned up. I went by the Wachovia Bank on Benedict Place, and I paid my rent to the Greenwich Housing Authority. I then went by the central Greenwich post office, and I obtained money orders at .90 each to pay my Verizon telephone bill, Cablevision, and Optimum online cable modem bills. I mailed them at the post office. I paid .75 parking meter fees downtown. I sat out for a while, and I used the bathroom at the senior and arts center. I then drove down by the waterfront. I then went by Radio Shack www.radioshack.com in Cos Cob, and I bought for my Uniden cordless spread spectrum cordless telephone a Radio Shack #23-964 cordless telephone nickel-cadmium rechargeable battery for $15.69 and for my General Electric 900 Mhz cordless telephone a Radio Shack #23-298 cordless telephone nickel-cadmium rechargeable battery for $11.49 plus $1.63 tax for $28.81 total. I brought the cordless telephones with me, and the sales clerk installed the new batteries in the cordless telephones. They have to charge up for 24 hours before they are fully charged. Now all four of my cordless telephones in the apartment should work. I then went by the Old Greenwich Mobil Express Car wash, and I had my Volvo washed for $5. I then went by Staples www.staples.com , and I bought two packages of 500 sheets of Staples laser paper for two packages for $7, a package of three Staples clamp binders for $5.99, and a Antec Cobra ATA-133 IDE round cable for $14.98 plus $1.68 tax for $29.65 total. I then drove back downtown, and I sat out for a while, and I used the bathroom at the Senior and Arts center. I then went by the Arnold Bread outlet, and I bought a loaf of fresh Arnold Healthy multigrain bread $2.27, a 5.5 ounce box of Arnold regular cut Seasoned croutons for .99 and a 5.5 ounce box of Arnold garlic and cheese regular cut croutons for .99 for $4.25 total. I then went by the VitaminShoppe www.vitaminshoppe.com , and I bought a 300 capsules of MSM 1000 for $32.57, 100 tablets of One Daily multivitamins with no iron for $12.97, 100 capsules of Deodorized Garlic 500 for $5.57, 100 tablets of C-500 complex for $5.17, and a 100 capsules of B-12 500 mcg for $5.17 less a $10 off coupon that I had for buying over $50 for a total of $51.45. I then returned home. I put the two cordless telephones in their cradles to charge up. I installed the Antec IDE 133 Cobra Cable in my primary computer. I chatted with a relative. The computer still freezes when compressing my Microsoft Money file, I will have to see if in other activity it freezes. Still with the new cable it seems more responsive. The new cable has a ground connector on the IDE cable that I connected to ground to the floppy drive screw to case. I now have about six months worth of Vitamins with the reserves that I already had. Note: <888> 10/04/04 Monday 1:35 A.M.: I took a four ounce can of sliced mushrooms, and I drained and rinsed the water out of it with the lid. I put a few tablespoons of olive oil and a pad of margerine in a small sauté pan, and I heated it over medium high electric heat, and I sautéed the mushrooms over medium to low heat stirring them regularly. I put about four 4.5 tablespoons of olive oil and two pads of margarine in my 10 inch omelet pan, and I heated it over medium high electric heat. I sliced seven 1 inch by 2 inch by 3/16 th inch slices of Kraft Cracker Barrel 2% low fat sharp cheddar cheese. I cracked three extra large eggs in a metal bowl, and I added about 1/8th of a cup of 2% low fat milk, and I whisked it all together with a metal whisk. Once the olive oil was heated in the omelet pan and the mushrooms were heated, I added the egg mixture to the omelet pan, and I lower the heat to medium to low. I let it cook, until it began to harden on top. I then flipped the omelet with a spatula, and I covered one half of it with the five slices of the cheese and about 75% of the mushrooms. I then folded the bare half over the covered half, and put it on a warm dinner plate. I put the remaining two slices of cheese on it and the remaining sautéed mushrooms and covered it with a medium to light covering grated parmesan cheese. While cooking the omelet, I also toasted one slice of bread, and I put two pads of margarine on it and spread it, and I cut the toast in half. I had it all for dinner with a glass of 2% low fat milk. I don't wash my omelet pan, but I just wipe it dry with a paper towel, so it does not stick in the future, and it gradually conditions the omelet pan. CIO
Note: <888> 10/04/04 Monday 12:55 A.M.: I went out after the last message. I went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought a 16 ounce bar of Stop and Shop Swiss cheese for $4.39, two half gallons of Tropicana Premium orange juice with calcium 50% less calories for $2 each, a 6 ounce container of Old Bay Seasoning for $2.99, a 10 ounce bag of Bachman pretzel rods for $1.69, two 3 liter containers of Botticelli olive oil for $7.99 each, two 16.5 ounce bottles of Monari balsamic vinegar $2.79 each, two Stop and Shop http://www.stopandshop.com/ 3 ounce containers of grated parmesan cheese for .99 each, two Stop and Shop 3 ounce containers of grated parmesan and Romano cheese for .99 each, a quart jar of Stop and Shop strawberry preserves for $2.99, a 16 ounce bag of baby carrots for $1.50, broccoli crowns at .79 a pound for .76, for $43.84 total. I then went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area. I sat out at various locations. I also noticed that this Friday October 8 and Saturday October 9, the Presbyterian Church at the top of Greenwich Avenue is going to have a Tag Sale. I next drove down by the waterfront. I then returned home, and I used my folding cart to bring up my groceries, and I put them away. I drank some iced tea. CIO

Note: <888> 10/03/04 Sunday 5:45 P.M.: I was up at 3 P.M.. I had breakfast of oatmeal, toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I went outside, and I removed all the items from my Volvo in the rear compartment area. I used the AT&T CD lens cleaner, and I cleaned my Volvo CD player. I then put in six CDs, three Elvis and two Beatles CDs that I made up from their most popular songs and the Frank Sinatra Duets CD. The CD player plays perfectly. I put all the items back in the rear storage area the same way. I showered and cleaned up. I will now uninstall and reinstall Norton Internet Security 2004 and Norton System Works 2003. I will install the latest version of Live Update, and when I run the Norton Updates, I will run it from a safe boot with networking support, so the system should not freeze on the updates installation procedure. I will also set the IDE 1 driver to PIO mode for the process and then return it to DMA. This should take less than an hour. CIO
Note: <888> 10/03/04 Sunday 10:10 A.M.: I had problems installing the Norton programs, and I got system freezes. I uninstalled Windows XP SP2 and the other SP2 updates. The system seems a bit smoother and more stable with SP1, but I still get occasional freezes when trying to install programs. I installed the Norton's programs, but there was a problem, so I will have to uninstall and reinstall them again. I went outside briefly a few hours ago. I will now shut down the computer, and I will go to bed. CIO
Note: <888> 10/03/04 Sunday 3:10 A.M.: In uninstalling the Norton Programs, the system froze. I disconnected the computer case from the cables, and I opened it up. I replaced the long round primary IDE cable to the two hard drives, with the shorter primary IDE ribbon that came with the computer, and then I reconnected the computer. Well, that fixed the problem, which is the obvious solution, and the computer is no longer freezing. I will now reinstall the Norton programs. CIO

Note: <888> 10/02/04 Saturday 8:40 P.M.: After I shut down the computer this past morning, I put a new 3 volt Energizer lithium disk battery #2025 in the Remote Keyless entry device for my Volvo. I woke up briefly, and I ate six one inch by one inch by 1/8th inch slices of Swiss cheese on six Town House crackers and about a half dozen other Town House crackers. I had them with some iced tea. I was awake at noon today. I had breakfast of oatmeal, toast with strawberry preserves, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I went outside briefly, and I picked up my mail. I chatted with a relative. I showered and cleaned up. I went out, and I drove by Gateway Auto Supply at 154 Prospect Street, and I bought a container of Pennzoil http://www.pennzoil.com/ Fuel Injection cleaner for $2.99, a quart of Valvoline http://www.valvoline.com/ 10W40 oil for $2.25 and two Christmas Tree New Car scent cards for $1 each for $7.24 total. I put the quart of Valvoline 10W40 oil in the rear luggage compartment of my Volvo where it is easily obtained. I hung one of the scent cards on the hook by the driver's side rear seat window, and I put the other one unused in the glove box. I then drove down by the waterfront. I drove over to Old Greenwich, and I had my hair cut at Off Center barbers for $18 plus $5 tip for $23 total. They had the Old Greenwich, Connecticut fire house http://sbvfd.com/ open for the 100th anniversary celebration. I then drove out to Tod's Point, and I parked at the southwest parking area, and I chatted with two other regular waterfront observers. I then drove back to downtown Greenwich, and I sat out briefly. I set my two AM and two FM radio buttons on the Volvo. I then went by the Exxon gasoline station next to the Greenwich Library, and I put in the Pennzoil fuel injection cleaner in my fuel tank, and I bought $11.65 of premium gasoline at $2.399 a gallon for about 22 miles per gallon usage, most of which was highway driving. I then returned home. I had a message on my answering machine from a relative. I made and ate my usual salad www.geocities.com/mikelscott/salad.htm . I use a tin of sardines that I chopped instead of tuna fish, and for the cheddar cheese portion, I used Kraft Cracker Barrel 2% low fat sharp cheddar cheese. I used all of the other regular ingredients, and I had the salad with a glass of ice tea. CIO
Note: <888> 10/02/04 Saturday 3:40 A.M.: The previous mentioned note did not fix the problem. I will uninstall and reinstall Norton Internet Security 2004 and Norton System Works 2003 later on today when I have time. I need to be on a day time schedule part of the time earlier this coming week to pay my first of the month bills. I have been awake for 20 hours, so I will now shut down the computer, and I will go to bed. Around May 2004, I ordered a 6000 sheet remanufactured toner cartridge for my Minolta laser printer for $72 from http://infinityimaging.com/ . Since the Minolta starter cartridge was good for 1250 pages, it just ran out at 1115 pages. I put in the new 6,000 sheet remanufactured cartridge, and it works just fine. I could not reset the counter by the method in the manual that I keep available on the chair to the left of the computer. However, this does not matter. I will leave it, so I have the entire life usage of the Minolta laser printer. I ran off a few test copies, and it is now at 1118 sheets produced. Thus it is all set to go, and I restocked it with fresh paper. Once I am sure it is all right, I will send back the old cartridge to Infinity in the new toner cartridge shipping box with the free UPS shipping label provided. CIO
End of Scott's Notes week of 10/02/04:
Note: <888> 10/02/04 Saturday 12:20 A.M.: I cut eight 1 inch by 1 inch by 1/8 inch pieces of Swiss cheese, and I put them on eight Town House crackers, and I ate them with a bit of iced tea. About a month ago, I bought a $50 set of tire cables for snow and ice traction for my previously owned Hyundai, and I paid $15 for them at the 70% off shelf at the Greenwich Hardware store, but I can not return them. I do not think they will fit on the tire profile I have on the Volvo, so I will have to figure out what to do with them. The Volvo I believe has front wheel drive, which is good traction on snow and ice if one has the proper tires with enough tread, which I do. It also has a roof rack, and I have tie down cables for the roof rack in the spare tire compartment, which is currently covered with stored items in the rear compartment. I need to rearrange the stored items, so the tool box is more available. Also I have to remember to put in six CDs in the CD player in the spare tire compartment. The spare tire is donut spare tire, and not a full size spare tire. I also have to study the owners manual and other information when I have time. Since I never listen to audio when I drive, since I find it distracting, and I like to keep my ears open for hearing, I probably will not be using the sound system much and like a lot of other things on the Volvo, I have to figure out how to use it all the devices and switches. I never smoke tobacco in my cars anymore, so I will continue to maintain the smoke free environment in the Volvo. I will now send out my weekly notes. CIO
Note: <888> 10/01/04 Friday 11:40 P.M.: I went outside, and I checked my tires on the Volvo. My Volvo has metal alloy wheels with low profile wide Yokohama AVID V4 2205 / 55R16 / 89V tires which on the internet discount tire sites are about $89 apiece. They have 5,000 to 10,000 miles wear left on them. They are similar to the Michelin www.michelin.com MXV4 tire which at Sears www.sears.com which currently has tires on sale, and various tires run from about $80 to $140 apiece on Sears web site, but I am not sure if they are the same low profile tires or not, but the numbers are similar. The Costco www.costco.com web site lists the particular tire size that I have for my particular 1995 Volvo 850 Turbo Wagon as 205/55R16 89V, Option 1 which run about $150 a tire for various Michelin tires, thus if in the future I want to keep the Metal Alloy wheels, with tax, mounting, speed balancing, at Costco I would be paying about $750 for a new set of tires. Of course people with fancy tires tend to be skinny, so I would not have to worry about eating anyway. At www.samsclub.com they are special order. Well anyway, at the rate I drive, my tires on the Volvo are good for another year, so I will wait until Christmas 2005 for new tires on the Volvo, and a lot can happen between now and then. I checked the oil underneath the hood today, and it was fine. The engine compartment is a bit dirty, and about 18 years ago, I had my Volkswagen Dasher station wagon engine steamed cleaned at the Exxon station across the street from me on West Putnam Avenue and the New York border for $20, so maybe some time in the future, I can have them steam clean the engine compartment. The Volvo has a moon roof and most of all of the accessories that came with that model. CIO

Note: <888> 10/01/04 Friday 9:55 P.M.: I finished my house cleaning and watering the plants. I chatted with a relative. I threw out the garbage. I called GEICO www.geico.com , and I let them know my Volvo title had been transferred to me, and the Volvo was registered in Connecticut in my name, and that I have a factory installed alarm in the Volvo. For $15 more a six month period, I also took out the coverage which provides up to $30 a day should I need a rental car, if I have a claim on the Volvo, and it is in the shop. I chatted with the GEICO representative about this area. CIO
Note: <888> 10/01/04 Friday 6:10 P.M.: I was up at 7 A.M. this morning. I had breakfast of oatmeal, toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I showered and cleaned up. I went by Putnam Trust Bank of New York, and they notarized my Volvo title free as a courtesy to customers. I then drove up Glenville Road to King Street to the airport extension road to New King Street to I-684 East to I-84 East, and I took a break at the Connecticut welcome center rest area. I then took exit 5 and I followed the instructions DMV: Danbury Office to go to the Danbury, Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles office, which I had to go to get a VIN ID on my car. The way is also marked by signs in Danbury. I got the forms from the receptionist. They did the VIN ID check. I filled out the form. I then received number 240 to wait in line when number 211 was being waited on. It took about an one hour and twenty minutes of waiting. The registrar gave me the tax exemption since the car was a gift from my sister. I paid a VEH XFR fee of $11, TSB Fee of $9, Title fee of $25, and the VIN ID inspection $10 for $55 total. I had my tools out in the car to transfer my existing Connecticut license plates from my Hyundai to the Volvo, so I took off the Pennsylvania plates, and I put on my Connecticut plates front and rear with the Mercedes Benz of Greenwich, Connecticut license plate frames. I then cleaned my hands in the DMV bathroom, and it all took about 2 hours. I was told that I could wait until I got home to transfer the plates, but since it was a nice day, I transferred them there. I returned back home via the same way. I stopped at the I-684 rest area in Armonk, New York, and I saw lots of retired people from Florida heading south. I then returned home. I sorted out my paper work, and I put the registration and the new GEICO insurance card that I received today in my Volvo glove box paper work holder. I went inside briefly. I used a scraper that I keep in my kitchen bureau, and I scraped off the Pennsylvania emissions stickers. I put my pink Greenwich, Connecticut beach vehicle identification ID sticker in the driver's side lower corner of the front window. I used scotch tape, and I put my Connecticut Bush Cheney 2004 sticker in the drivers side rear side window. I then drove over to the Valley Road post office, and I obtained at .90 cost a money order to pay my first of four installments on my GEICO automobile insurance six month policy. I mailed it there. I then returned home, and I microwaved a Maria Callender 14 ounce sliced turkey and stuffing dinner, which I ate with a glass of 2% low fat milk. I had two messages from a relative, and the relative just called back. I will now do my house cleaning and watering the plants. CIO
