07/31/22 Sunday 12:05 P.M.  I went out to www.cvs.com on Greenwich Avenue.  I sat out before and after at the Junior Chamber of Commerce Park across the street.  I picked up a prescription.  I then went to the Acme grocery store at 160 West Putnam Avenue, and I bought from the clearance frozen section four 10 ounce quinoa and kale and brown rice.  I then returned home.  I sat outside.  I put away the groceries.  I will now shut down the primary work computer, and I will go to bed directly.  CIO

07/31/22 Sunday 9:00 A.M.  I drove downtown to the Senior and the Arts Center.  I sat out a long time.  I chatted with a friend.  I used the bathroom at www.starbucks.com .  It was not very busy.  I then went to www.cvs.com on Greenwich Avenue.  I bought two 24 blade packs of Blade value packs for $6.79 each pack, and a dishwashing liquid sponge for $3.39 less a 30% off mail coupon and less $2.53 bonus bucks from a previous purchase and .64 tax for $10.74 total.  I then sat out across the street in the Junior Chamber of Commerce Park.  I then went to the Stop and Shop at 161 West Putnam Avenue.  From the clearance section, I bought a ten pound bag of Russet potatoes for .99, three 10 ounce Banquet spaghetti and meatballs for $5 all, a 8 pack of Jimmy Dean sausage, egg, and cheese croissants for $11.69, and a value pack of 10 ounce whole wheat crackers sort of like Ritz for $2.69 for $20.37 total.  I then returned  home.  I sat outside.  I put away my groceries.  I went outside, and I put the Grey bag back in the car, and I sat outside.  I filed this report.  I will now go outside again.  CIO

07/28/22 Thursday 5:40 A.M.  Back in May 1972, when I drove from Athens, Greece to Selchuck in Turkey where St. Paul the Roman tax collector first preached, I was traveling with George Gordon Cary whose maternal grandmother was from the railroad Osborne family in America, and the Osborne family were the primary patrons of the New York Natural History Museum and the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art.  On the way from Selchuck in Turkey we stopped by the Scheleim excavation at Troy on our way to Istanbul.  I noticed the block boulders from the Walls of Troy were not that large, so possibly the walls of Troy were not that massive.  Earlier on in the trip we also visited Crete, which possibly had the Minoan Civilization destroyed at Kenosis by the Volcanic Eruption of San Turini.  I did see a lot of rocks and boulders that seemed to have been tossed around by that eruption.  For the trip we had to read, Mary Renault, "The King Must Die."  https://www.amazon.com/King-Must-Die-Novel/dp/0394751043 .  In Greece, they also use to eat goat feta cheese in Greek Salads.  They also eat a lot of mousaka which is baked ground lamb with mashed potatoes on top, sort of like a "Shepard's Pie."  In my many private schools we ate Shepard's Pie a lot of times https://www.thewholesomedish.com/the-best-classic-shepherds-pie/ .  I think Stauffers should start making Shepard's Pie.  Of course having gone to www.lakeforest.edu out in Lake Forest, Illinois, I was used to eating a lot of fifteen cent www.mcdonalds.com cheeseburgers, when gasoline was only 12 cents a gallon.  Thus although I did have a liberal arts major in Economics, I think it is safe to say, my budget has not kept up with inflation over all of these years.  I managed over the years to maintain my "Situation Room" with computer equipment http://scott-mike.com/computer.htm by using my food and other budgets for home computer expenses.  I felt by being a disabled neighbor of prominent people it was important to keep track of all of my activities, since my neighbors expect me to be a responsible member of the community based on my experiences and education that were afforded me.  Unfortunately at age 72, I am probably out of touch with the younger generation.  I will now go outside again.  CIO

On my first trip to Greece in April 1972 as part of the Lake Forest College foreign studies program, we ate a lot of cucumber sandwiches for lunch which I have seen in the media are also popular in England.

The way I figure it at 7.5 miles round trip downtown to the Senior and the Arts Center by www.starbucks.com and at gasoline at close to $6 a gallon and at about 12.5 miles per gallon or 3/5ths of a gallon round trip, it costs $3.60 round trip to just to hang out and do nothing.

07/26/22 Tuesday 6:50 P.M.  I ate a quart of the Spanish, Greek, and Italian salad with a 12 ounce glass of Fresca with three ounces of grapefruit juice.  There was one slight problem in that seven of the olives still had pits in them.  However, it was most delicious the way that I made it.  I will now head out downtown to Green Witch Avenue.  CIO

07/26/22 Tuesday 12:40 A.M.  I took two slices of toasted Pepperidge Farm 15 grain bread, and I put Best Foods mayonnaise on them, and I added nine 1/32nd inch thick slices of Stop and Shop sliced turkey and six 1/32nd inch thick slices of Stop and Shop provolone cheese and a few teaspoons of Heinz dill pickle relish, and I cut the sandwich in half, and I ate it with 3.75 ounces of Cape Cod jalapeño potato chips and a 12 ounce glass of Fresca with three ounces of grapefruit juice.  I will now go outside again.  CIO  

07/25/22 Monday 11:50 P.M.  I mixed all of the ingredients I bought on my last trip except the English muffins, and I also added about three fourths of a cup of grated parmesan and Romano cheese, and I put it all in two 2 quart Rubbermaid containers with lids to chill in the refrigerator.  It is about $50 total for a gourmet salad to have available for the four or fives days.  It is basically, a Greek, Spanish, and Italian salad.  I drained the water liquids, but not the oil in the artichoke hearts.  I will now go outside again.  CIO

07/25/22 Monday 10:40 P.M.  I went to the Whole Foods store on East Putnam Avenue, but they were out of gazpacho.  I bought a six ounce package of Greek olives for $5.99, a six ounce package of Spanish artichoke hearts for $5.99 and a 12 ounce package of pasta salad for $7.82 for $20.80 total.  I then went to the Acme grocery store at 160 West Putnam Avenue, and I bought a eight ounce package of spicy sliced pepperoni for $8.99.  I then sat out at the Board of Education parking lot veterans monument for a while observing the late night walkers.  I then went to the Stop and Shop at 161 West Putnam Avenue.  I bought a pint of fresh salsa for $4.11, from the clearence section Nature's Promise English muffins for $1.74, two 4 ounce artichoke hearts for $2 each, a 6 ounce Goya stuffed Spanish olives for $2.49, a 16 ounce pasta salad for $4.99, and a Bermuda red onion for $1.45 for $18.78 total.  I then went to the Putnam Shell at 401 West Putnam Avenue, and I bought $23.01 of self service premium gasoline for $5.799 a gallon for 3.969 gallons at odometer reading of 123032 miles for 49.8 miles driven since Friday July 8, 2022 for 12.548 miles per gallon in local traffic.  I then returned home.  I sat outside.  After I go outside, and I will put away the grey bag in the car, and I will drink a brewed coffee outside.  I filed this report.  CIO

07/13/22 Wednesday 4:45 A.M.  I took two slices of toasted Pepperidge Farm 15 grain bread, and I put Best Foods mayonnaise on them, and I added eight 1/32nd inch thick slices of Stop and Shop sliced turkey and six 1/32nd inch thick slices of Stop and Shop provolone cheese and a few teaspoons of Heinz dill pickle relish, and I cut the sandwich in half, and I ate it with 3.75 ounces of Cape Cod jalapeño potato chips and a 12 ounce glass of Fresca with three ounces of grapefruit juice.  I will now go outside and drink a brewed coffee.  One of the two wooden benches in front of the building have disappeared.  CIO

07/13/22 Wednesday 2:40 A.M.  I have the new Asus Laptop fully configured.  I was able to put on the $20 version of Office 2019 without any problem.  I also have Norton 360 on it.  I installed the Windows 11 updates and the Windows 11 apps.  I am not doing a Complete PC backup of it to an external hard drive.  I will then do an Aomei backup of it to an external hard drive.  It all works just fine.  I went outside three times, and twice I drank a brewed coffee.  Midnight Mikey Madness.  In the Big Apple, they get paid a lot of money for maintaining the Wall Street computers at night, but I am not sure what type of computers they use, since nobody from there networks with me.  CIO

07/09/22 Saturday 5:20 A.M.  I visited Amsterdam for three or four days during my last trip to Europe in February 1992 for the Albertville, France Winter Olympics https://www.webcamtaxi.com/en/netherlands/north-holland/amsterdam-dam-square.html .  In Amsterdam it was cold and damp on the east of the Atlantic Ocean and the east side of the North Sea.  It felt like one was sitting in a bath tub of ice water.  Still I had a wonderful time seeing my Dutch Cousin's home land.  We stayed in an inexpensive small hotel about three doors away from the Heineken brewery.  They sell Heineken in big two liter bottles too.  We visited a local pub, where some young Dutch boys were amused by us singing Dutch songs.  A small bottle of www.coke.com was about $7.  I saw them ice skating on the ice rink at the top of the pedestrian plaza.  We toured the Rembrandt exhibit at the Reiche Museum, where they brought in a lot of Rembrandts from around the World including some from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan.  I saw thousands of people lined up for the American Automobile show outside the Mall on the north side of town.  We ate at the Dutch Tavern behind the Palace, and either the vegetables or butter was really delicious.  I enjoyed walking the Pedestrian area behind the palace and seeing a lot of cheerful faces.  I was worried where the fresh water to make Heineken might come from since in our small hotel, the toilet dropped into the Canal for sewage.  A number of Dutch people showed up at the Winter Olympics wearing colorful parkas with tulips on them.  In Amsterdam I visited three computer stores, and I looked at their offerings.  I also visited a photography store.  What had me confused was all of the bicycles looked the same except for their small license tags with different numbers, so the Dutch must have a hard time finding the right bicycle.  The Dutch did not seem to know about New Amsterdam, but they talked about Argentina and Java in Indonesia.  There were lots of colorful flower stalls on the streets.  Some of the Dutch police had my look, but they looked well fed.  The street cars have hard rubber wheels, so they are very quiet being electric, and they can sneak up behind one, if one is not observant.

07/08/22 Friday 5:10 A.M.  On the Dell Optiplex 790 on the upper left side at the far end of the oak dining table, I took out the SSD drive, and I did a low level format on it using the primary computer external hard drive to get rid of Windows 11 in French and Linux Mint.  Linux Mint would not let me boot the Windows 11 Rufus beta that I just made.  I then installed Windows 11 Preview Rufus beta on it.  I now have to configure it.  I will now go outside.  CIO

07/08/22 Friday 4:05 A.M.   I downloaded the latest Windows 11 beta https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windowsinsiderpreviewiso?rfs=1 , and I used this procedure r\ror Windows 11 on an older PC, Windows 11 Rufus installed from USB Pen Drive  I made a Windows 11 Rufus USB pen drive with this method this https://rufus.ie/en/ to created a Windows 11 bootable USB pen drive for it to upgrade https://www.elevenforum.com/t/create-bootable-windows-11-iso-without-tpm-secure-boot-and-ram-requirements.1891/ I formatted the over 8 GB USB pen drive in NTFS, and I set Rufus to "MBR" selected and the second and third advanced options selected, also select options no TPM/no Secure boot.  The different language versions of the Windows 11 *.iso download are here https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows11 thus for example if one wanted Windows 11 Professional in French download the *.iso file and make the Windows 11 Rufus USB pen drive the same way.  Once again the Complete PC backup does not work, but Aomei backup does work.  On the upper left computer at the far end of the oak dining table with Windows 11 in French and Linux Mint, I will try to shrink the Windows 11 partition, and then I will install the latest Windows 11 beta.

07/07/22 Thursday 9:45 P.M.  I drove down to the Senior and the Arts Center.  I sat at the Board of Education parking lot veterans monument in the shade for a long time.  I used the bathroom at www.starbucks.com .  I bought an Ace's High scratch card at Zen Stationary for a dollar, and I lost as usual.  I sat out some more.  I then drove over to Whole Foods to check out their plants, and I toured the store, but there was nothing that I needed.  I then toured www.cvs.com on Greenwich Avenue, but they did not have any Fresca.  I then went to the Stop and Shop at 161 West Putnam Avenue.  I bought a 12 pack of Jimmy Dean sausage, egg, and cheese croissants for $14.99, a 49 ounce Simply Orange grapefruit juice for $4.49, and a 11 inch hanging plant with red green leaves for $8.49 and .54 tax for $28.51 total.  I then returned home.  I put away the food.  I hung the hanging plant from the ceiling at the far end of the oak dining table.  I went outside, and I put the grey bag back in the car.  I drank a brewed coffee outside.  I filed this report.  I will now go outside again.

07/03/22 Sunday 10:10 P.M.  In the spring, summer, and fall of 1978, I also worked at https://languedocbistro.com/ in the early evening and at night and in the early morning hours.  John Bolton worked at Cumberland Farms unloading the milk when it arrived.  Thus by late October 1978, I had save up enough money to buy a used 1971 Yellow Subaru wagon for $150 from Dillon, Colorado that had a Polaroid sticker on it.  I took out the engine, and I put a new clutch plate in it, and that car until August 1980 made three round trips to California at about 59 cents a gallon for 52 miles per gallon including driving through the Rocky Mountains in a blizzard on the first return trip.  I found Continental snow tires with studs for it in a www.sears.com tire dump in Dillon, Colorado that the Vail, Colorado Amoco station installed for $5, and we made it over Eisenhower Pass in the blizzard and down to Denver.  I remember driving across the great plains in an ice storm, and on a Sunday morning about 1 A.M. in Russell, Kansas, they water hose broke, and two young mechanics in a garage replaced the water hose for $20 beer money, and we were back on the road east.  I think in Abilene, Kansas, at a Buick Subaru garage, I was able to find a solenoid fork to repair the starter motor which never worked in California, so I had to jump start it all of the time.  I replaced it at the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dwight_D._Eisenhower museum after it had closed, and I was watched by four young cadets from a local military academy.  Thus after a bit more wandering around the country, I made it back east in time for Christmas in Greenwich where I spent Christmas Eve house sitting at the Burns Security House in Greenwich House sitting for the owners, and I installed that Christmas Eve an air conditioning system that I bought in Fort Lauderdale on the return along with a replacement windshield, because Howard Hughes designed and tested the first Subarus in this country at a track in Fort Lauderdale, so their junk yard had spare parts.  I will now go outside again.  CIO

07/03/22 Sunday 9:00 P.M.  This is the house at 9 Lincoln Avenue that myself and John Bolton worked on in the summer and fall of 1978 out on Nantucket https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-iE7B1a5Jc and https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/9-Lincoln-Ave-Nantucket-MA-02554/56542773_zpid/ way out on www.nantucket.net .  We had some help from Cape Cod people.  I recall scraping off about ten coats of white lead paint from the front door.  They repainted the house with white epoxy boat paint from the St. Louis Paint Company.  One of the carpenters frequently fired a Colt 45 for some odd reason.  It was not too far to walk from 31 India Street, where John and I shared a back upstairs room.  I recall we made about $5 an hour.  The owner of the house was from Hyannis and eventually went bankrupt.  I ran into him in Las Angeles airport in August 1980, and his American Express card was cancelled, and he sold me two one way tickets to Hawaii for $200 both cash.  I took United to Hawaii with a woman that looked like Queen Elizabeth II, and then flew a local flight to Maui where I stayed for a week at the Hyatt in Lahainia https://www.hyatt.com/en-US/hotel/hawaii/hyatt-regency-maui-resort-and-spa/oggrm?src=adm_sem_crp_chico_crp_ppc_NAM-UnitedStates-HI-Lahaina-HR-OGGRM_google_Evergreen2022_e_hyatt%20regency%20maui%20resort%20%26%20spa&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIusfdooPe-AIV7sqUCR0UuAQbEAAYASAAEgJP7PD_BwE , and then I flew back from Hawaii on World Airways to San Jose, and stayed over the Labor Day weekend with Vincent Butler in Santa Cruz, and then I recall flying from Monterey down to John Wayne airport in Newport Beach and some time in Laguna and back east on Sabena Airways with about fifty nuns.  Later on that fall I drove with John Bolton back out to California and returned after election day via air to John's mother's apartment in Manhattan.
