06/30/22 Thursday 11:30 P.M. When I bought a round trip ticket on S.A.S. in February 1983 at Kennedy airport for $800 cash which was also supposed to include a week's stay at the S.A.S. Hotel in Stockholm, the S.A.S. jet landed at a military airport in Oslo, Norway where there was a lot of snow, and I was told by the S.A.S. Hotel in Oslo, Norway that the ticket was only a one way ticket to Stockholm with no hotel, thus I was ripped off by S.A.S., and my father had to pay for my hotel at the Best Western Hotel in Oslo, Norway behind the palace and the return flight on S.A.S. via Copenhagen, Denmark; where I never left the airport, but bought two cartons of Prince Cigarettes from Duty Free with hundred dollar bill that the United States Embassy in Oslo, Norway gave me, and I caught a brand new www.boeing.com S.A.S. 747 back to Kennedy airport, and I spent a week homeless at the Kennedy airport S.A.S. terminal, and then I caught the Long Island Railroad out to Plandome Manor, Long Island, where my friend whose grandmother I had built the garage apartment for gave me another hundred dollar bill, which I used to fly from the airport back to www.nantucket.net , about which time the Mianus River Bridge fell down in Greenwich, Connecticut; and knowing there would be chaos in Greenwich, I stayed out on Nantucket working at Le Languedoc until Halloween, when I went up to Kennebunkport, and I then drove down to Vero Beach, Florida with a relative whose house had been robbed there. I then drove a Hertz Rental Car with faulty windshield wipers to Fort Lauderdale, where I saw a very tall group of people with a picture of General Omar Bradley in the Bahia Mar Marina during the Grenada Invasion and a hurricane. Then I drove with a different rental to Newport Richey, Florida to visit a relative, and then back across to Vero Beach, Florida, where they hospitalized me for stress. I then flew back to Nantucket and worked. After Thanksgiving when the restaurant was closed, I took the ferry to Hyannis, and stayed up all night. I did meet a local school teacher that I chatted with. At the airport at 6 A.M., I saw Ted Kennedy. At 11 A.M., I took a flight down on Provincetown Boston Airlines to LaGuardia which Jackie Kennedy Osassis was on. I then caught Amtrak from Grand Central Station to Toronto. I stayed for about ten days at the University of Toronto Anglican Seminary library, where I met somebody from Air Canada. When I had to leave, I stayed up all night in Zero Degree Fahrenheit weather outside a dormitory named for a city in Estonia being observed by older Canadian men. I then caught a Amtrak down South. In Buffalo, I chatted with a friend's father who gave me his telephone number in Sands Point, Long Island. In New York City I spent a week homeless staying up all night at the East Side Airline terminal after my favorite pub closed. I then spent a week at the Greenwich Hospital with swollen ankles, and then I went back to Manhattan to be homeless the same way for another week. I then returned to the Greenwich Hospital for another week, where after a $7,500 physical; they determined I was legally disabled. My social worker got me a small attic room at 100 Milbank Avenue and welfare, where I lived for four months, and then two month on Greenwich Avenue at Grigg Street, and then 4.5 years at 700 Steamboat Road, and in January 1989, I moved to my public housing the first tenant at 71 Vinci Drive; so I have been back in Greenwich since December 1983, where my family and a few relations and friends are long term residents. The friend out on Sands Point, Long Island was from a family that once owned the world's largest transportation network and multiple homes, so they are well known. I will now go outside again. For the month of July 2022, I paid my Verizon telephone and my Eversource electricity bills and Optimum Online bill which is now $204 for three Optimum services. I paid my rent to the Housing Authority of Greenwich.
I will now go outside again and drink a brewed coffee. I once had a friend from Brazil whom might have inherited twenty million acres of coffee plantation. I do have his email address, but he has a few other associates in the area. CIO
06/30/22 Thursday 9:25 P.M. I went outside. I picked up the mail. I chatted with a friend who lives way down South. The friend recommended that I should have an evacuation plan in case something goes wrong in the area which is not an option unless I rented a car or flew out of Westchester County airport on Northwest Airlines to Detroit and then to Toronto, Ontario, Canada which has forty miles of underground streets. However, the Canadians have a lot of complicated paper work to enter their country now. I went outside again. If the trains ran in an evacuation, I could probably catch a train to a family house up North, but that might be a little bit too complicated. I am pretty much a stay at home anymore, and I am always looking for a bathroom every hour, and I chain smoke cigar cigarettes outside every hour. So much for advanced planning. I have a relative in the area that could possibly evacuate me in a dire situation, but the relative is not always here. I think it is people from down South that are always trying scare me in the Summer, when in the colder months, nothing pretty much ever happens here. CIO
06/30/22 Thursday 6:45 P.M. I chatted with a friend. To tell the truth, I have not had a paying job since I left https://languedocbistro.com/ out on www.nantucket.net in December 1983. It was not an easy job dishwashing and pot scrubbing and cleaning up 12 to 16 hours a day six to seven days a week in season. When I left, I was making only $8.75 an hour. Thus I get post traumatic stress syndrome, when ever I think about Nantucket. CIO

I took two slices of toasted Pepperidge Farm 15 grain bread, and I put Best Foods mayonnaise on them, and I added eight 1/32nd inch thick slices of Stop and Shop sliced turkey and six 1/32nd inch thick slices of Stop and Shop provolone cheese and a few teaspoons of Heinz dill pickle relish, and I cut the sandwich in half, and I ate it with 3.75 ounces of Cape Cod jalapeņo potato chips and a 12 ounce glass of Fresca with three ounces of grapefruit juice. I will now go outside and drink a brewed coffee. CIO

I once got a free ride on the Time Magazine jet when I was at National Airport after Ronald Reagan's first inaugural, and they flew me to Westchester County airport. I also went to Greenwich Country Day with the children of Time Magazine executives. At Lake Forest College, R.R. Donnelly used to also publish Time Magazine.

I chatted with Stamford Volvo Service, and they are not sure they will be able to work on the car today or tomorrow, so I might have to wait until after the Fourth of July Holiday. I will eat a Jimmy Dean Sausage, Egg, and cheese sandwich with two toasted English muffins with Smart Balance spread, and pineapple chunks and mango chunks with Mandarin orange slices, and a glass of Primo Vermont spring water with some pineapple juice and cranberry juice and a cup of coffee with artificial sweetener and almond milk.

06/29/22 Wednesday 9:40 P.M. I went downtown to the Senior and the Arts Center. I sat out for a while. I used the bathroom at www.starbucks.com . I then went to the Stop and Shop at 161 West Putnam Avenue, and I bought four 7.5 ounce Cape Cod Jalapeņo potato chips for $3.99 each, two 9 ounce Stop and Shop honey sliced turkey for $4.79 each, two 7 ounce Stop and Shop sliced provolone cheese for $3.19 each, and a 59 ounce Simply Orange grapefruit juice for $4.49 for $36.41 total. I then went out to my car, and it would not start after trying it a number of times. I called 1-800-42GEICO, and a tow truck from R and J towing in Harrison arrived an hour later. They dropped my off at my apartment towed the car to Stamford Volvo. I sat outside. I chatted with a neighbor. I filled out the form online for service at Stamford Volvo. They can not work on it until 7 A.M. on Friday July 1, 2022. I chatted with a relative and an associate. I put away my food. I will now go outside and drink a brewed coffee. CIO
06/29/22 Wednesday 5:35 P.M. The repaired Dell computer Bluetooth headset is all set up. The new one has to charge up a bit on the primary work computer. I will now go downtown to forage around. CIO
06/29/22 Wednesday 5:10 P.M. I picked up the mail. I used the bathroom at the CFCF coffee shop. I then drove through a busy downtown. I then went to the Stop and Shop at 161 West Putnam Avenue. I bought two 6 packs of Stop and Shop multigrain English muffins for $2.89 each six pack, a loaf of Pepperidge Farm 15 grain bread for $4.59, eight 20 ounce cans of Stop and Shop pineapple chunks in juice for $2.08 a can, a 9 ounce package of Stop and Shop sliced honey turkey for $3.59, and a 7 ounce package of Stop and Shop sliced provolone cheese for $3.19 for $36.47 total. I then returned home. I sat outside. I put away my groceries. I put the grey bag back in the car, and I drank a brewed coffee outside. I filed this report. CIO

I drove around town, and I went to the Greenwich Shell at 83 East Putnam Avenue. I bought $20 of self service premium gasoline for $5.999 a gallon for 3.335 gallons at odometer reading of 122948 miles for 52.4 miles driven since Friday June 3, 2022 for 15.712 miles per gallon in local traffic. I then went to the Acme grocery store at 160 West Putnam Avenue. I bought six 5.4 ounce Yoplait blueberry yogurts for .89 each, four 48 ounce Ocean Spray cranberry juice for $3.99 each, and a 48 ounce Almond Breeze vanilla unsweetened almond milk for $5.29 for $26.59 total. Well having worked with personal computers since September 1989 this time around since I programmed an IBM 360 in Cobol at Polaroid in the Summer of 1971, I have a few skills, but at age 72 nobody is interested in my skills, since over a billion people in the world now use personal computers. It is sort of amusing with all of the high tech people on the West Coast of the United States of America, we never hear from any of them except for when they are trying to sell some sort of new technology from Asia, they see first because of their location. Maybe they now have wireless surf boards with GPS. For all I know they are just hanging around the beach waiting to afford a trip to Hawaii. When I visited Santa Cruz, California, on one of five trips to the West Coast between 1978 and 1980, I did try using the network desktops at the University of California at Santa Cruz, but they were all in Fortran which computer language, I did not know. I guess they do not like being bothered by starving people from back East with a bit of experience on the East Coast around the Ocean. Besides a bit of technology, we get a bit of California wine coming back our way too. I never visited Cal Tech on my trips to West Coast, so possibly there I would have met some people to network with. I did meet Joel in Laguna Bach that looked like Nelson Rockefeller, and he claimed to be the head of Xerox Parc in Palo Alto, which might have been true back then. The Hearst family have a presence back East, if one want to read their liberal biased publications. Thus from my experience, unless one wants to get a tan, there is no point in ever traveling back to the West Coast of the United States of America. I know they need rain out there. In the 1950s, they used to seed clouds with a gallon of iodine to fifty thousand gallons of water to make it rain, but perhaps the energy for planes that spray that mixture is too expensive. Maybe they should invest some money in desalinating sea water, since they already recycle sewage water, but once again that used energy. They could try making a solar or wind powered desalination plant or even geo thermal to save on energy. Recently, we have had plenty of rain back East, but it also has been cooler. The ocean currents are the biggest factor in the weather, so perhaps our Atlantic Ocean currents have changed a bit. On volcanoes there was a major eruption in Tonga, but I am not sure that is effecting our weather or not. I guess there has not been much snow in the Rocky Mountains for run off into the Colorado River to feed Lake Mead behind Boulder Dam. There was a report on Fox News today about thousands of dead cattle in Kansas from the heat out there, so I guess the price of beef will be going up some more. A lot of Californians are vegetarians with all of the vegetables and produce they grow out there, but it is now more expensive to ship back East. We are still surviving here as best as we can. I suppose there is not much to know since with the higher price of fuel, it is more expensive to get around to see what is going on. Recently we have had a lot of jet traffic at nearby Westchester County airport near White Plains, New York; so maybe something is going on there, we do not know about. I will now go outside again. It is also supposed to work with an Apple Iphone.

06/14/22 Tuesday 12:30 A.M. During the first part of June, the stripped bass run off the coast of New England, but in order to keep them, they have to be at least 28 inches long. I think in Connecticut, one also needs a fishing license https://portal.ct.gov/DEEP/Fishing/General-Information/Fisheries-Licenses-and-Permits . One is not allowed to park down by the pier on Steamboat Road anymore after sunset, but one park further up the road, if one should find a parking place. In August the harbor gets hypoxia, and all of the bunker in the harbor die off, so it smell like dead fish, not to mention the sewer plant might have a slight odor, when they burn off their methane gas. Out on www.nantucket.net , they use to use https://hopkinslures.com/product-category/lures/standard to catch blue fish and stripped bass. Once in October out by the Navy Quonset hut on Lyon Farm Road, I caught 78 blue fish and 2 stripped bass in two hours, because I chummed the water with fish guts, when I filleted them. I got 15 cent a pound for blue fish filets and 50 cents a pound for stripped bass filets. One has to rinse them off in the ocean to get rid of the sand from the beach when filleting them, which might also attacked some sharks. When fishing from the beach, it helps if one has a surf casting rod with a spin reel too. I left my fishing setup in Santa Barbara at the Shell Station in 1980 for $10 in gasoline which got me down to Laguna Beach for the Ronald Reagan victory party. However, my old Volvo had a bad clutch, so I sold it at the entrance to Disney Land at a cash for your car place for $1250, and I flew back east to New York City, never to return to the West Coast again. Point Conception north of Santa Barbara near Vandenberg Air Force Space was good for surf casting, but I never caught anything there, because apparently the ocean drops off very deep there. CIO

With the Bluetooth USB plug in device that I got today, it works just fine on the primary work computer and with Skype, so one can wander around talking. I left it plugged in charging on the near side of the oak dining table with the cell phones.
I will now go outside again to bay at the moon and the stars. If one is ever lucky enough to visit Lanzarote, one sees millions of stars in our universe for what ever it is worth. This whole internet adventure started with Jimmy Bolster's astronomy BBS server on the internet and the Astronomy Club in Greenwich. My first apartment in Greenwich when I returned from Nantucket in December 1983 was across the street from the Greenwich Observatory. Nantucket also had the Maria Mitchell Observatory too. Santa Cruz, California where Jimmy Eldert once went to school also had a major observatory. I have a new telescope in my apartment behind the Ethan Allen recliner which I never opened up, since the skies are too cloudy around here. On the Dell computer that I have repaired, I have tried the PCI slot with both a PCI LAN Card and a PCI USB Slot Card, and neither of them worked, so I think it is safe to save the PCI slot is defective. However, the other three slots work just fine for the devices plugged into them. Thus it is not a major problem. Basically I know how to work on computers, but with www.ibm.com in the area, there are a lot of computer nerds in the area, but I have a lot of experience since September 1989 when I bought an Apple 2E from somebody at J.P. Morgan in Belgium for a hundred dollars at a tag sale on Round Hill Road. I was later able to sell it for $279, and I bought a Compaq AT 286 from a tag sale in New Canaan for $250. A relative paid a thousand dollars for me to upgrade to a Intel 386 computer a couple of years later. All of which are long since gone.

In the HP Compaq computer, I put in the new PCI LAN card too. I then went to the Greenwich Shell at 83 East Putnam Avenue, and I bought $25.07 of self service premium gasoline for $$5.639 a gallon for 4.446 gallons at odometer reading of 122895 miles for 62.5 miles driven since Friday May 6, 2022 for 14.058 miles per gallon in local traffic. I then went to the Stop and Shop at 161 West Putnam Avenue, and I bought two 7.5 ounce Stop and Shop sliced provolone cheese for $3.19 each, two 9 ounce Stop and Shop sliced honey turkey for $3.49 each, three 7 ounce Cape Cod Jalapeņo potato chips for $3 each, two 6 packs of Stop and Shop whole wheat English muffins for $2.89 each and a 59 ounce Simply Orange grapefruit juice for $4.49 for $31.25 total. I then returned home. I sat outside. I put away my groceries. I went outside, and I put the green bag back in the car, and I drank a brewed coffee. I chatted with a friend. I filed this report.
