Of course for privacy reasons I can not divulged the computer company or the individual, but knowing the company, it is par for the course. CIO

Note: <888> 06/30/04 Wednesday 9:15 P.M.: I made and ate my usual salad www.geocities.com/mikelscott/salad.htm . I used all of the regular ingredients except for the tuna fish, I used a tin of sardines that I chopped. For the cheddar cheese portion, I used Land-O-Lakes pepper jack cheese. I had the salad with a glass of iced tea. I decided keeping the LampLight Farms http://www.lamplightfarms.com/ smokeless and odorless lighting oil in my three miniature hurricane lamps is potentially a fire hazard in that it could cause a fire to accelerate, so I emptied the three miniature hurricane lamps, and I put the oil back in the LampLight Farms plastic bottle which I keep in a sealed glass spaghetti noodle jar on the small miniature shelves to the left in the kitchen. In a prolonged energy outage, I could always fill them. The miniature hurricane lamps still have a minimum of the oil remaining in them, which will evaporate over time. CIO
Note: <888> 06/30/04 Wednesday 7:35 P.M.: I did not fall asleep until 4 A.M. this morning. I ate the last 2 inch by 1.5 inch by 1 inch pieces of Cabot's www.cabotcheese.com 50% less fat Vermont white cheddar cheese. I also ate a bowl of corn chips along with some iced tea. I was awaken about 6:30 A.M. by a telephone call from a friend. I was finally up at noon. I had breakfast of oatmeal, toast with strawberry preserves, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I went outside briefly, and I checked the mail. I cleaned up, and I went out. I drove over to the Arnold bread outlet, and I bought a 5.5 ounce box of Arnold Zesty Italian large cut croutons for .99 and a loaf of Arnold whole wheat bread for $1.35 and on Wednesdays, one gets the senior discount of 10% off for .23 off in my case for $2.11 total. I then drove down by the waterfront, and I chatted with some waterfront observers. I then went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop, and they were closed today for reorganizing new stock, but they will be opened tomorrow. I then went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue, and I sat out at various locations. During my walk, I stopped by the Greenwich Hardware store, and I bought a large magnetic key hider for $3.99 plus .24 tax for $4.23 total. I then went by CVS, and I dropped off a roll of 24 exposure 35mm film for double prints, which should be ready in two days. I bought twelve 3.75 ounce tins of Beach Cliff sardines in water for two for .99 for $5.94 total. I then completed my walk. I then went by the Greenwich Library, and I read the Greenwich Time, which had the article about the 30th anniversary of the Gulliver's discothèque fire
Greenwich Time - Firefighters reflect on anniversary of Gulliver's tragedy. I recall I was only at Gulliver's once or twice, but I recall visiting it around April or May 1975 with a couple of neighbors. I was aware of the fire since I read the Greenwich Time reports of it, and my mother had been one of the nurses that responded to the Greenwich Hospital in the emergency. As I recall about half of the victims were young students from France. I guess since I visited the bar discothèque in April or May 1975, they had rebuilt it. At the time I had quit smoking tobacco, and I recall the place was smoky, so I left shortly after arriving and having a bourbon and ginger ale. I recall upon leaving going up the steps to the parking lot, that the left side door as one exited was opened for entry, but the right side of the double doors was locked, so like on all auditorium doors instead of pushing on the handle when it is locked from the inside, I pushed on the spring lock door lock at the door jam, and it opened. I do not recall whether I was ever at Gulliver's before the fire or not. I recall the night of the Gulliver's fire, I was in Manhattan at the Le Jardin discothèque, and I spent the night at Steve Wheellock's apartment on east 60th street, and the following morning when we went out to breakfast on Madison Avenue, I saw the story in the New York Times. I recall the time I went to Gulliver's in April or May 1975, I road over with one of my neighbors Peter Fox on his motorcycle. As I recall Gulliver's was in the basement of a bowling alley. There were other exits around the discothèque dance floor, but I do not recall checking them to see if they worked or not. Presently, I think the office building where Perrier of America is located is at that location. I next returned home after reading the Greenwich Time, and the large size magnetic key hider will not fit my Hyundai key, so I will keep it for a relative in Maine that needs one. I can get the extra large magnetic key hider at Charles Stuttig's locksmith at 158 Greenwich Avenue. I put away my purchases. CIONote: <888> 06/30/04 Wednesday 1:25 A.M.: One should remember this time of year to keep an eye on www.geocities.com/mikelscott/weather.htm . While up in Kennebunkport, Maine, I saw a rebroadcast of the Weather Channel Program on Hurricane Andrew. In quick summary hurricanes hit North Carolina three years ago, and the Virginia, Maryland, Washington D.C. area last fall, which might mean there might be a trend of hurricane activity pushing further north each year recently, which would mean the Chesapeake Bay area, Cap May, New Jersey area north to Atlantic City, New Jersey or even New York might be effected this year or in the next couple of years. Also during the last two years, Bermuda has been hit by a number of hurricanes. Thus as any sea dog knows, one should keep a weather eye, and with all the information on the internet, if one can afford to live near the ocean or have a boat, there is really no reason that one should not be able to afford to keep track of the weather on the internet or other weather information service. This image looks really great on my Sony FD Trinitron 21 inch monitor
NRL Monterey Satellite Photos from the experts at NRL Monterey Tropical Images and NRL Monterey Weather Satellite Products, Images & Movies and Naval Research Laboratory Monterey and don't forget www.geocities.com/mikelscott/weather.htm . I recall when the hurricane hit North Carolina three years ago, the Navy Research Laboratory in Monterey, California knew three days before it happened from their IBM super computer modeling, but alas, they did not alert the people on the east coast about the impending hurricane. Thus one has to do a bit of research oneself on the internet, and not just rely on CNN for TV weather, since it is the nature of the media, they are not going to alert a large number of people and scare them, since it tends to be the general consensus that it is better for large numbers of people during a hurricane to take shelter locally as opposed to be traveling on the road should they fear one happening. The 2004 Atlantic Seasonal Hurricane Forecast The Tropical Meteorology Project: [FORECASTS] is for increased activity this season. I will now shut down the computer, and I will go to bed soon. When I chatted with another relative last night, the relative told me about a book that a friend had edited. This is the link to the book http://www.utexas.edu/utpress/books/armver.html . It is based on translations from the library at Heracleum near Pompeii, which was discovered underneath the basement of a laundry room, which contained Julius Caesar's father in law's library which was quite extensive since he was wealthy. Apparently the scrolls in the library were able to be read after being sealed in the volcanic ash with aid of technology from NASA. My relative's friend is David Armstrong whom is working on deciphering the scrolls, since he can read the ancient Greek writings, and it is part of the Philodemus project, and there was a program on it on the Discovery Channel http://dsc.discovery.com/news/briefs/20030303/papyri.html and http://www.arethusa.net/ . Note: <888> 06/29/04 Tuesday 6:05 P.M.: I went outside, and I chatted with a couple of neighbors. There were a few thin white lines from the Nu Finish http://www.nufinish.com/ wax job that I put on my 1999 Hyundai Accent 2 door hatchback last October 2003. I have washed the car three times since then. The small white lines were from not buffing out the wax completely particularly on the passenger side. I took a terry cloth towel, and I buffed them out, and then I wiped and buffed them with a damp part of the towel. I keep a spigot handle in my car clove compartment for turning on the outside water faucet from the old days when I use to wash the car with a bucket and a hose. It looks better. I have to touch up with a small bit of black paint a couple of scratches. My Hyundai just turned to 41,000 miles while I was downtown. I am not due for a scheduled maintenance until 47,500 miles except for an oil and filter change at the next 3,000 mile interval. CIO
Note: <888> 06/29/04 Tuesday 5:00 P.M.: I was up at 10:30 A.M. this morning. I had breakfast of oatmeal, toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. As usual I watched television with my morning coffee. I cleaned up, and I went out. I went over to the Oil Star oil change place in Riverside, Connecticut, and I had my 1999 Hyundai Accent 2 door hatchback oil and oil filter changed and the fluids and other items checked for $31.95 with a $3 off coupon plus four quarts of Castrol 10W30 oil for $3.25 plus .97 disposal charge for the old oil and $1.98 tax for $34.90 total. The Oil Star Service man found my spare key I had hidden underneath the car its case melted because it was too near the exhaust, so they gave me the melted case with the spare key I had hidden. I will have find another place to hide the key outside the car interior which is difficult. I went over to the Mobil Express car wash in Old Greenwich, and I had my car washed for $5. I towel dried the remaining dampness afterwards. I then went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop. I next went by the Exxon gasoline station next to the Greenwich Library, and I put $12.80 of regular unleaded gasoline $2.299 a gallon. During my recent trip to Kennebunkport, Maine and back, I drove 570 miles including local travel to and from the gas pumps, and I put in 11.236 gallons of gasoline at four fill ups during that period, so with extended travel mostly on the highway in fifth gear I averaged 50.729797080811676753292986828053 miles per gallon usage during extended highway driving and a small bit of local driving. I next went by the Greenwich Town Hall, and I paid the yearly property tax on my 1999 Hyundai Accent 2 door hatchback which was $21.24. I then drove down by the waterfront. I next went by Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street. I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought broccoli crowns at $1.99 a pound for $2.29, two eight ounce bars of Land O Lakes Pepper Jack cheese for $2 each, a 10 ounce bag of fresh spinach for $1.99, a 10 ounce box of fresh mushrooms for $2.29, a pound of fresh strawberries for $2, a 16 ounce bag of baby carrots for $1.50, a quart of plum tomatoes for $3.49, a Super Size 20 ounce bag of Tostitos restaurant style taco chips for $2.99, and a 8.5 ounce box of Triscut reduced fat crackers for $1.99 for $22.54 total. Note: <888> 06/28/04 Monday 8:15 P.M.: I have returned from Kennebunkport, Maine http://www.geocities.com/mikelscott/137.htm where I visited with a relative. I was awake on last Wednesday morning at 8 A.M.. I had breakfast of oatmeal, toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I packed the car. I waited around until I went to the bathroom #2, so I would not have to go to the bathroom #2 on the highway. I turned off the toilet and the air conditioner. I left at 10:15 A.M.. I drove over to King Street in Port Chester, New York, and I drove up to Westchester County airport, and I followed the road around to I-495 East. I took I-495 East to I-84 East. I took a break at the Danbury, Connecticut welcome center. I then drove east on I-84 East, and I took another break at the Southington, Connecticut rest area. I then drove east on I-84 East, and I took another break at the Vernon, Connecticut rest area. I followed I-84 East to the Massachusetts turnpike east, and I took another break at the rest area just after I got on the turnpike. I bought at the Exxon filling pumps at the rest area with my Bank of New Master Card debit card $5.80 of regular unleaded gasoline at $2.079 a gallon for over 50 miles per gallon usage, which I get with the fifth gear in my 1999 Hyundai Accent hatchback. I exited at the next exit to I-290 North paying a .50 toll. I followed I-290 north to I-495 north, and I took anther break at the Lowell, Massachusetts rest area. I then followed I-495 north to I-95 north, and I took a break at the New Hampshire turnpike welcome center. I then paid a dollar toll at the New Hampshire turnpike, and I proceeded to the Maine turnpike, when I paid a $1.50 toll. I exited at the Wells, Maine exit, and I took U.S. 1 north, and after about two miles, I took the right turning into Kennebunkport, Maine. I arrived at my relatives house at 4:30 P.M. for a 6 hour and 15 minute trip and 276 miles door to door. I unpacked my car including the Danish cherry end table that I had brought up, and I chatted with my relative. We went out to dinner at the Wayfarer restaurant in Cape Porpoise, Maine, where I had the turkey special for dinner. We drove out to the point in Cape Porpoise. We then returned home, and we chatted, and watched a bit of television. I went to bed about 10:30 P.M.. I was up at 9 A.M. the next morning on Thursday, and I had breakfast of cheerios, toast with margarine, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I watered my relatives plants on the rear deck. I cleaned the gutters front and rear on the house, where I could reach them with the latter. I used rubber gloves and bucket to clean the gutters, and then I used a hose to rinse them out, and I put the webbing back over the rear gutters. I moved a hose around, and I water the plants around the house. I swept the pine straw off the driveway. I did some other minor chores. My relative, and I had fresh crab meat salad for lunch with iced tea. I cleaned up, and we went out, and we drove up U.S. 1 to South Portland, Maine. We went by Marshall's, Home Depot, T.J. Max, Wal-mart, and back in Biddeford, Maine, we went by Shaw's grocery store. We returned home, and my relative cooked me a Angus Beef Tenderloin filet mignon for dinner in a frying pan medium rare. I actually had 1.5 filet mignons, along with steamed broccoli and two ears of corn on the cob with iced tea. We sat out on the deck for a while, and I chatted with my relative, and we read the papers and watched television. I went to bed about 11 P.M., and I was up the following Friday morning about 10 A.M.. I had breakfast of cheerios, toast with margarine, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I hooked up a new hose and nozzle to the back deck of the house, since the old hose was leaking. I repaired the old hose with a splicer. We had gotten the parts at Home Depot. I watered the plants on the rear deck, and I set up the hose so it all on the deck coiled, but one has to turn it on from below. On the east side of the house where a stone wall had been rebuilt, I weeded the area around it, and I hoed it, and I then I raked it with a rake. I then used a Scott's hand spreader and Scott's grass seed to seed the area. We had gotten the spreader and grass seed at Wal-Mart the day before. I then watered the newly seeded area and the plants in front of the house. I hung another old hose at the front east of the house. We had lunch of fresh crab meat with salad and iced tea. We went for a drive, and we went by the Kennebunk Volvo and Saab http://www.saabandvolvo.com/ , and my relative had some hydraulic oil put in the power steering pump of the 1998 Audi, and it quit making noise. We went by the nearby NAPA store, and we got windshield washer with deicer, which I put into the Audi. We went by the grocery store in Kennebunk. We went back by my relative's house. We took a drive in my Hyundai along the beach. We returned back to my relatives house, and for dinner we had baked Haddock, salad and broccoli and iced tea. We sat up and chatted, read the newspapers, and watched television until about 11 P.M.. I went to bed, and I was up at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday. I had breakfast of cheerios, toast with margarine, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. It was raining out, so I did not do any outdoor chores. We went for a drive around Kennebunk and went by a lamp store in Kennebunk, a gardening shop, and antique shop, and we did some grocery shopping there. We had lunch of salad and turkey and Irish Swiss cheese sandwiches along with iced tea. I took a nap. My relative went out for dinner, and I had baked filet of salmon with two ears of corn on the cob. I chatted with my relative, read the papers, and watched television, and I went to bed about 11 P.M.. I was up at 11 A.M. on Sunday, and I had breakfast of Cheerios, toast with margarines, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. We went by a grocery store in Kennebunk. We returned home. We had turkey and Irish Swiss cheese sandwiches with salad for lunch with iced tea. We went over to beach for a while. I went out, and I took some still photographs and Sony Handycam video of the Dock Square area, the breakwater in front of the Colony Hotel, St. Anne's church, and Walker's Point. I then returned back to my relative's house, and I watered the plants on the rear deck and the front of the house and the new grass seed. For dinner, we had tacos with avocado chips fried ground round with onions, cheese, lettuce, and taco sauce along with iced tea. For desert, I had Hagen Daz vanilla ice cream. We chatted, read the papers, and watched television. I went to bed about 11 P.M., but first I packed most of my belongings. I was up at 9 A.M. today, and I had breakfast of cheerios, strawberries, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I helped my relative plant a plant. I packed the car, and I almost locked the keys in the car, but the rear hatchback was still unlocked. I said my good byes and thanks to my relative, and I left at 10:40 A.M.. I stopped by the Apple Mobil station in Kennebunkport, Maine, and I bought $7.65 of premium gasoline at $2.089 a gallon. I used my debit card for the purchase. I then left downtown Kennebunkport, Maine about 11 A.M.. I took a break at the Amtrak station at Wells, Maine. I then got on the Maine Turnpike South, and I paid the $1.50 toll, and then I paid a dollar toll at the New Hampshire turnpike. I then took a break at the Massachusetts welcome center on I-95 south. I then took I-495 south, and I took another break at the Lowell rest area. I then followed I-495 south to I-290 south, and I got on the Massachusetts turnpike, and I took a break at the rest area. I called and cancelled an appointment for today. I put $5 of regular unleaded gasoline at the Exxon pump $2.059 a gallon. I exit the Massachusetts turnpike at I-84 west, and I paid a .50 toll. I followed I-84 west to Connecticut, and I took a break at the Connecticut welcome center. I then followed I-84 west across Connecticut, and there were very light sprinkles around Hartford. I got off I-84 west at the first Southbury exit, and I went to the mall parking lot for a break by the McDonalds. I then followed I-84 west to I-684 south, and I took a break at the rest area just before Armonk, New York. I then exited I-684 south at Westchester County airport, and I drove down King Street to just past the Merritt parkway, and I took a left in Glenville, and I returned home at 5:10 P.M. with the trip still at 276 miles door to door and 6 hours and 10 minutes. I unpacked the car. I chatted with my relative to let them know that I returned safely. I turned on the toilet and the air conditioner. I unpacked my luggage. I drank some iced tea and cold filtered water. I sorted through my mail. I received notification from Bank of New York not to do online transfers more than six times a month, which I will not do. I watered my apartment plants. CIO

The way I drive up there if I remember correctly is that I drive up King Street from nearby in Port Chester, New York to I-684 east, to I-84 east, to the Massachusetts Turnpike east, to the first exit for I-290 North to Worcester, to I-495 East, to I-95 north to the New Hampshire turnpike north to the Maine turnpike north to the Wells, Maine exit and I will drive into Kennebunkport. I went by the Exxon gasoline station next to the Greenwich Library, and I bought $4.35 of regular unleaded gasoline at $2.359 a gallon for about 25 miles per gallon usage. I then sat out briefly downtown. I then drove down by the waterfront. I returned home. I made and ate my usual salad www.geocities.com/mikelscott/salad.htm . I used all of the regular ingredients, except the baby carrots and Danish blue cheese and for the cheddar cheese portion I used Cabot's www.cabotcheese.com 50% less fat Vermont white cheddar cheese. Instead of sliced mushrooms on the top of the salad, I put two Portobello mushrooms sliced in 1/4 inch thick slices. I cut off the dirty tips of the stem, and I rinsed the Portobello mushrooms underneath cold water before slicing it. Also instead of a sliced plum tomato, I used a whole fresh tomato about the size of a baseball that I cut into eights. I had the salad with a glass of iced tea. I went outside briefly. I just chatted with a friend. I will now do my packing. CIO
Note: <888> 06/22/04 Tuesday 4:30 P.M.: I put away both loads of laundry. I chatted with my relative in Maine, and my relative in Maine does not need the two telephones I was thinking about bringing up. However, my relative has a matching Danish Cherry end table like I have two of stacked up on top of each other to form the Danish bar at the apartment entrance. The lower one is the original matching one from the set, but it is a bit darker since I used dark Old English furniture polish on it a number of times. The upper one that I bought about a year and a half ago at the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop for $40 is more of the original cheery color. I removed the items from the upper Cherry Danish end table, and I took it off from on top of the other one. I cleaned and polished it with spray furniture polish. I was able to fit it in the back seat of my Hyundai by putting in upright and then flipping it upside down, so its weight rests against the back of the seat. I then took of the IBM Cyrix backup computer and monitor from off the square Danish Cheery coffee table on the left side of the Danish bedroom desk, and I cleaned and polished it with spray polish. I then put it on top of the lower Danish end table, so the Danish bar is still two levels. There is about a foot space on the upper level since the small Danish coffee table is not as large. I put all the items for the Danish bar back in position along with the telephone equipment, so it all looks pretty much the same. I did move the four three packs of Perrier 2000 to underneath the near side of the blue couch. I put the IBM Cyrex backup computer back on the left side of the Danish desk with the Royal monitor on top of it, so it is all connected to work along with the other backup computers. I moved some of the smaller items around to reorganize that area. Thus the apartment is all back together and organized. I finished charging the Sony Handycam rechargeable battery, and I put it with the Sony Handycam video camera, and I have a RCA connector cord, and its charger out to pack to take with me to Maine. I will now clean up, and I will go out for a short spell. I have to fill the car up with gasoline. I will pack when I return. I will now shut down the computer. CIO
Note: <888> 06/22/04 Tuesday 1:55 P.M.: I was up at 11:30 A.M.. I had breakfast of oatmeal, toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I put clean linens on the bed in the bedroom. I have two loads of laundry to do, but only one washing machine was available, so I have ten minutes to go on that machine. I put the Sony Handycam rechargeable battery pack in the charger, and it should be charged by 3 P.M.. CIO
Note: <888> 06/22/04 Tuesday 1:55 A.M.: I read the Sony monitor manual, and I made some adjustments. It all seems to be working just fine. I did some regular computer work. I turned off the computer and monitors. I disconnected the monitor cable to the Sony monitor, and then I turned on the Sony Monitor, and I held the small joy stick to the right for over two seconds, and the self test screen showed up with the primary colors test screen indicating the monitor tests all right. I then turned off the Sony monitor, and I reconnected the video cable, and I rebooted the system. I changed my Vibra web cam settings to the default settings, so it works better. I moved the US Robotics external backup modem from on top of the Sony monitor to down below in between the two monitors on the table, since I probably will not be using it, since the cable modem is very reliable. It is still available if I should need to use it with Juno free dialup. I moved the X10 remote mouse control to underneath the right side of the left monitor. I put the little LCD clock on the top right of the Sony monitor. I will now shut down the computer, and I will go to bed soon. CIO

He informed me that the Stripped Bass are now being caught in the Greenwich, Connecticut area. I remember, they use to run off Madaket off Nantucket Island, Massachusetts during the first week of June, so I guess with the cooler weather and cooler water temperatures up north this year, they are running later. I next sat out for a while at the bench at the Greenwich Library. I then went by the Food Emporium, and I bought a Ben and Jerry's 16 ounce butter pecan ice cream for $3.59 less a dollar off store cash register coupon for $2.59 total. I then returned home, and I drank some iced tea. I had one of those fax calls on my answering machine. I used all of the regular ingredients, except the baby carrots and Danish blue cheese and for the cheddar cheese portion I used Cabot's www.cabotcheese.com 50% less fat Vermont white cheddar cheese. Instead of sliced mushrooms on the top of the salad, I put one Portobello mushroom sliced in 1/4 inch thick slices. I cut off the dirty tip of the stem, and I rinsed the Portobello underneath cold water before slicing it. I had the salad with a glass of iced tea. I will now go back out for an evening stroll. I will shut down the computer. CIO

CNN.com - Connecticut's Rowland announces resignation - Jun 21, 2004 . CIONote: <888> 06/21/04 Monday 6:25 P.M.: All five backup computers now have their 17 inch monitors installed the way they were before I rotated them after the 19 inch IIyama monitor malfunctioned. Thus the IBM Cyrix computer now has the Royal 17 inch monitor too. On the AMD backup computer in the bedroom on the brass and glass coffee table on the Danish desk, which is my third best computer, I put in a new Energizer #2032 lithium disk CMOS battery, and I reset the CMOS settings, so it now starts up just fine. I replaced the CMOS battery on the IBM Cyrex computer about five months ago. Thus all six desktop computers are go for operation, and five of them can be online at the same time, the way I have it all set up. Of course I still have an 8 port hub on the Dell backup computer in the living room, so with it turned on the and the two Lan cables that I have connected, one could operate two laptops or seven if one had extra Lan cables. Note: <888> 06/21/04 Monday 5:25 P.M.: I was up at 10 A.M., and I had breakfast of oatmeal, toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I picked up my mail. I then cleaned up, and I went out. I went by Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street. I then returned back to my apartment, and I chatted with a neighbor. I then went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop. I bought a 21 inch diagonal Sony FD Trinitron GDM-F500 computer monitor made in 1999 for $40. I paid for half of it in cash, and I paid the other half with my Bank of New York Master Card debit card. I used the folding cart that I keep in the back hatchback area of my Hyundai to carry it to the car. I returned home, and I brought it up to my apartment with the same cart. I disconnected from the primary computer the Dell 17 inch Trinitron monitor on the left side, and moved the 19 inch CompUSA monitor to the left side connecting it to the Diamond Stealth 32 meg. PCI video card that boots first. I put the 21 inch Sony FD Trinitron GDM-F500 http://www.ita.sel.sony.com/support/displays/legacy/GDM_man/GDMF500.pdf monitor in the center position to the right of CompUSA 19 inch monitor, and I connected it to the MadDog Multimedia 4X AGP 64 meg. video card that boots as the secondary monitor in Windows XP with my desktop expanded to it. It works just fine. It has a four port USB hub on the back left and right hand sides of the base of the monitor that I connected up with one of my 10 foot USB cables from the back side of the primary computer to the last remaining free USB port to the input on the monitor. The USB hubs are hard to reach on the lower back side of the monitor stand, but they are available for use, and Windows XP recognized them plug and play. I cleaned off the magic marker $40 price tag off the monitor with Ronson lighter fluid. I cleaned the monitor screen with glass cleaner, and I lightly wiped the rest of the monitor. It works very well. I adjusted the settings. I have it set to turn on with lower right control panel switch. I will use the large screen 21 inch monitor for web browsing. I put the U.S. Robotics Sportster 56X backup fax modem on the top right of the Sony monitor, with the web camera at the center front top of the monitor, with the X10 remote mouse base unit to the left of the web camera, and the X10 remote mouse on the left top side of the Sony monitor. I have the little LCD clock on top of the modem. This article says it cost $1,899 when new five years ago, but it shows how fast equipment prices drop in the computer business for older equipment
Windows Magazine Sony Multiscan GDM-F500 . It was a very deluxe model in its time, and if I get a years use out of it, it will be worth the $40 investment. I now have to rotate the 17 inch monitors on the backup computers. I also printed out the 18 page Sony monitor manual. CIONote: <888> 06/21/04 Monday 3:15 A.M.: I installed this small 30 day demo hard drive program on my computer

CIONote: <888> 06/21/04 Monday 2:30 A.M.: I made two CDs with one containing my Documents on my hard drive and the other containing important folders including various work. I made a copy of each of the CDs too. I put the two originals in the Fire Sentry safe box that I keep on the wire shelf at my apartment entrance, and I will carry the other set with me up to Maine, in case in an emergency I had to do some work if a computer were available. However, most of the CD contents are archival, and most of the work is already posted on the internet. Still besides the C: drive to D: drive backup that I make every month, I suppose I should keep up to date CD backups too. I am able to make CD backups easily with Nero Burning 5.5 that came with my CD/RW drive. CIO
Note: <888> 06/21/04 Monday 12:40 A.M.: The big button General Electric telephone on the living room desk right side was making static, so I exchanged its long headset cord with the Columbia Big Button telephone long headset cord by the bedroom bed, and both of them seem to work fine now. I suppose the original General Electric cord was not in tight enough. I plan to take the General Electric big button telephone and the Columbia 2.4 gigahertz cordless telephone and headset by the primary computer up to my relative's house in Maine, since the relative can use additional phones. Since I have three other cordless telephones in the apartment along with the telephones on cords, and since I hardly use any of them, and I usually just talk on a corded telephone or the internet, I think I can do without the two I am taking to Maine. I also plan to take up for possible use by another relative a waist 34 inch pair of Barney's Khakis that I never had the cuffs put on, and I never wore before I put on weight. I also plan to take up the Northern Trust annual report. I might also take up one of the two matching Danish cheery wood end tables that I have stacked on top of each other, since the relative has one that matches it, and might need it. There is an additional new room that was put in this winter up in Maine. I guess I could take the square Danish table off the Danish desk in the bedroom, and I could stack it on the other Danish end table to keep the basic Danish bar set up at the apartment entrance. I think I might be able to get the Danish end table into the back seat of my Hyundai hatchback. Of course if my friend is able to drive me up as planned the last week of July in his 1992 Buick Roadmaster station wagon, I would then be able to take up the day bed too. Then I would have a little bit moving around room in my apartment. CIO
Note: <888> 06/20/04 Sunday 11:40 P.M.: I have 15 of the 50 calling cards that I printed out in black and white on the Minolta QMS PagePro 1250W laser printer left. I printed out 50 more calling cards in color with the Epson Stylus Color 880 printer, and they look better in color. I also changed the font to Microsoft Reference Sans Serif font size 8 or best to fit. I also corrected the misspelling of volunteer to volunteer. I also printed out 10 calling cards in color on a sheet of regular paper. I put two small and one medium binder clips and 10 paper clips in the blue and white bowl on the dining room table to have available for use. Thus I have on a modest budget continued to maintain my Pied A Terre modest apartment and office here in the United States of America in Connecticut in the New England part of the United States of America, which before the British settlement was called New Amsterdam, and before the Dutch settlement on the Map of Magellan was called "Nova Francia" or "New France" . Thus the French were one of the earlier adventurers into this area. On my paternal Grandfather Clarence Scott's side of the family, I believe they first arrived in this country in at the Isle of Wight County, Virginia around 1632 http://www.historicstlukes.org/ and my paternal grandmother Elizabeth Garde Scott's family the Garde family first arrived in this country at York, Maine http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~cafamilies/gard/ in 1634, and my mother's father Pieter Boven's family Boven http://blacklake.biz/excerpt.htm and mother's family Jeane Vanvylavelt? Boven were from the Dutch settlers whom settled in Holland, Michigan in 1847 http://www.holland.org/index.pl?paID=6 , so my father's family were here for over 200 years before my mother's family arrived. Thus it seems my father's family for whom I have the last name of are historically here for a longer period of time, but if I am not mistaken in the area of Groningen, in the Netherlands where the Bovens were from, is part of WestFalia which once was part of Germany too, and at that location around 1952, Royal Dutch Shell oil discovered some of the largest natural gas deposits discovered up until that time, so possibly the Dutch cousins that were left behind in the Netherlands might have enjoyed a more prosperous existence. Also during the winter of 1978, there was a small concert in Key West, Florida with the Supremes without Diana Ross that I attended with a couple hundred other people at a local bar there. Note: <888> 06/20/04 Sunday 8:10 P.M.: I was up at noon. I had breakfast of oatmeal, toast with strawberry preserves, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I cleaned up, and I went out. I went by the Greenwich Library, and I read the Greenwich Time and Business Week. Business Week had an article about High Technology companies, and IBM www.ibm.com is still suppose to be the largest high technology company. I next drove over to Tod's Point, and I took the 2.5 mile walk around Tod's Point. I sat out at various locations. I then went by Staples in Old Greenwich, and I bought the Staples variety pack of 250 color push pins, 20 small binder clips, 10 medium binder clips, and 150 jumbo vinyl paper clips all for $2.94 plus .18 tax for $3.12 total. I then drove back to downtown Greenwich. I parked up at the top of Greenwich Avenue, and I chatted and walked with another regular downtown observer. I then parked briefly and got out at my usual location. I then drove down by the waterfront. I then returned back via West Putnam Avenue, and I stopped by the Farm Stand located across from the Chrysler service center, and I bought four Portobello mushrooms at $2.99 a pound for about $3 and a ripe tomato for about .71 for $3.71 total. I then returned home. It is reported in the Greenwich Time today Greenwich Time - Diana Ross surprises town with free concert this Thursday June 24 at Roger Scherman Baldwin Park down by the waterfront . Alas I am leaving town this Wednesday morning to visit a relative in Kennebunkport, Maine http://www.geocities.com/mikelscott/137.htm . Note: <888> 06/19/04 Saturday 7:35 P.M.: I went out after the last message. I went by the Exxon gasoline station next to the Greenwich Library, and I bought with my Bank of New York Master Card Debit card $7.00 of regular unleaded gasoline at $2.359 a gallon for about 31 miles per gallon usage. I went by the Greenwich Library, and I read the Greenwich Time. I then went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue, and I sat out at various locations. I stopped by CVS during my walk, and I bought three 14 ounce packages of Sufer Dude spice drops for .99 a bag plus .18 tax for $3.15 total. During my walk, I sat out at the top of Greenwich Avenue, and I chatted with a fellow from Yugoslavia, but I was not able to find out whether Yugoslavia has volcanoes or not, but some of its neighboring countries do. I completed my walk. I then drove down by the waterfront. I then sat out for a while at the Greenwich Library parking lot. I then went by the drive up ATM machine at Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street. I then went by the Food Emporium, and I bought a 48 ounce container of Quaker Old Fashioned Oats for $3.99, a 9 ounce Weight Watchers Smart One grilled chicken in garlic sauce for $1.93, a free roll of Viva paper towels with a store cash register coupon, and a free Stouffer's Lean Cuisine 8 ounce herb roasted chicken dinner and a free Stouffer's Lean Cuisine 9 ounce chicken Carbonara dinner for $5.92 total. I got the Stouffer's meal for free because last week they were on sale for 50% off, but they forgot to take the sale price stickers off the case, so when they mistakenly rang up at full price, I got them for free. I made my purchases with my Bank of New York Master Card debit card. I then returned home, and I chatted with a neighbor. I put away my purchases. I drank a chilled 12 ounce A&W root beer in a frosted mug. The lower drawer in the refrigerator with the chilled beverages was stuck, but I was able to unstick it. CIO

I ate about 6 ounces of Planter's dry roasted lightly salted peanuts with some iced tea. I chatted with a relative. I am going to drive up to visit my relative in Kennebunkport, Maine http://www.geocities.com/mikelscott/137.htm on this Wednesday June 23. I probably will be staying through the weekend. I might also be going up the last week of July with a friend whom has a Buick Roadmaster Station wagon in which I would be able bring up the day bed. Note: <888> 06/18/04 Friday 8:25 P.M.: I went over to Home Depot in Port Chester, New York after the last message. With my Bank of New York Master Card Debit Card, I bought from the self service checkout, three boxes of six 1 5/8" screws with plastic anchors about #12 screws for $1.38 each package, a Closetmaid package #6610 of 7 wire shelf clips for $1.77, a Closetmaid package #6606 of 2 shelf support brackets for $4.19 plus .76 tax for $10.86 total. I also got four Home Depot wooden paint sticks for free. I then returned home. I marked and put four of the wire shelf clips in between the existing clips on my left living room closet shelf back side by drilling holes. I then marked the support bracket, but first I fastened with two wall anchors and screws a double thickness of the paint sticks horizontally where the support bracket would rest against the wall. Thus the support bracket will not push through the sheet rock with weight, such as happened with the bedroom closet a while back. I then fastened the support bracket with a wall anchor and screw, and thus the left closet shelf with hanger slots is very secure. I put all of the small appliances on the floor of the left closet instead of the shelf, and I put the two empty suitcases and flight bags and plastic sheeting on the shelf for less weight. I rehung the clothes, and I put the remaining left living room closet items on the floor including my two heavy duty orange extension cords. I then used the two end brackets that the building custodian gave me, and I drill holes for wall anchors, and I installed the end brackets for the sweater closet shelf, and one of the screws on the right would not drill since there was an aluminum stud underneath the sheet rock, so I put the screw underneath the bracket in the existing hole supporting the bottom of the right bracket. Thus it is all back to normal. I then emptied the right living room closet. I then installed the three remaining wire shelf clips on the rear of the right living room closet with wall anchors and screws. I installed the support bracket with the paint sticks the same way for the right living room closet. Just as I finished drilling the last hole for the support bracket into the paint sticks, the electricity went off at 4:55 P.M.. It had blinked for a few seconds at 4:15 P.M.. I finished installing the bracket in the darkened apartment, and it is also very secure. I then put the clothes and the other items back in the right living room closet. I then cleaned up my working tools. I put the two remaining boxes of wall anchors and screws in my yellow tool box on the floor of the hallway sweater closet. I put the Slaymaker jump start battery system out in the bathroom with its emergency light, so I could see in the bathroom without lights. I then went out without cleaning up. After chatting with a neighbor, I went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue, and I sat out at various locations. I stopped by CVS, and I used my Bank of New York Master Card debit card to buy a six bar package of CVS moisturizing white bath beauty soap bars for $3.49 plus .21 tax for $3.70 total. I looked for jelly beans, but I guess with the Reagan funeral, they are out of them. I then completed my walk. I then returned home. I turned back on the air conditioner and air purifier, and I reset a few clocks. Thus we are back to normal. CIO
Note: <888> 06/18/04 Friday 1:50 P.M.: I took the clothes out of the left living room closet and most of the other items. I got two replacement brackets from the building custodian including four wall anchors and four screws. However, the replacement brackets have different screw holes, so I used two brackets from my hallway sweater closet which had the same screw holes, and I fixed the left living room closet shelf hanger. The top left screw is held in with a molly instead of a wall anchor, but I had the replacement molly when the other one fell down behind the wall, when I removed it. Thus the left living room closet shelf is back in place. However, before I reinstall the clothing and other items, I will go over to Home Depot in Port Chester, New York to see if I can get two center shelf supports for each of the two living room closets like they use for wider closets. I will now throw on some work clothes and go over there. The apartment is messed up with all the items out of the left living room closet. CIO
Note: <888> 06/18/04 Friday 1:00 P.M.: I just had a minor disaster, the left living room closet shelf just collapsed because the end support pieces broke. I have a lot of my winter clothes hanging from the shelf rack, and I added my winter coats recently, so the extra weight must have caused it to collapse. I will repair it with similar supports from the sweater closet, and I will reduce the weight. CIO
Note: <888> 06/18/04 Friday 12:40 P.M.: I took a chilled 4.24 ounce can of Bumble Bee pink crab meat, and I opened the lid, and I drained and rinsed it with the lid on underneath cold water pressing the water out a few times. I put it in a metal bowl, and I added about 1/8 of a teaspoon of Old Bay Seasoning, and I also added a dozen chopped California medium pitted black olives, and I mixed it all together. I then added two heaping tablespoons of Hellmann's Just2Good 82% less fat mayonnaise, and I mixed it all together. I just opened the jar of Hellmann's Just2Good mayonnaise, and it said best if purchased by December 12, 2003, but it still should be good since it has not been opened. I refrigerated the jar after opening. I put the mixture on slices of Arnold 100% whole wheat 9 grain bread using four slices to make two sandwiches, which I cut across in half. I will have the crab sandwiches with a glass of ice tea now. CIO

The George W. Bush Online Store Static Cling Car Window Stickers Bush Cheney '04 , but shipping for four stickers would be $5.95, so I decided not to order them. Instead I went to this web link Bush Cheney ' 04Custom Posters , and I created a Connecticut Bush Cheney '04 poster. When it opened in the Adobe Acrobat Viewer, I resized it to 45%, and then I did a snapshot of it which copied the image, and I pasted it into Microsoft FrontPage 2003 or Microsoft FrontPage Express, and then I printed out the image in color which came out on the page 4.5 inches by 3.5 inches. I then cut it out of the page. I then centered it in a 3M Scotch 4 inch by 6 inch photo laminating sheet, and I removed the sticker cover, and I sealed it around its edges. I thus have a very nice waterproof plastic sealed "Connecticut Bush Cheney '04" window sticker that I can scotch tape in the rear inside right hatchback window of my Hyundai next to the Greenwich Country Day alumni sticker. I have to make sure I do not obscure my rear driving vision though. CIONote: <888> 06/17/04 Thursday 7:00 P.M.: While I was at my 3 P.M. appointment, the lights momentarily blinked, probably from the electrical storm. I paid with my Bank of New York Master Card debit card. I then returned to west Putnam Avenue, and there was a traffic tie up. There was a wrecked Greenwich Police car at the pumps at the Shell gasoline station, and there was a wrecked Mercedes and other smaller imported car wrecked in the center of West Putnam Avenue on a wrecker across from Miller motor cars. It took about 20 minutes to get through the traffic and other police, fire, and ambulances were responding. I then went to Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street. I next made my 3 P.M. appointment. It started raining very heavily about the time that I left the bank. After my 3 P.M. appointment, I went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop. I bought a brass candle holder with a curved candle part with a spear in the center and a balance counter weight at the other end with about a 5 inch wide base for $2. It had a Neiman Marcus sticker on it. I then returned home. I took the brass candle stick off the dining room table, and I put another cut crystal shade with it, and I put it on the left side of the wicker rack to the left of the primary computer with a little French tri-color ribbon on it. I used the cut crystal shade from the brass candle holder that was originally on the table, and I put about a half dozen broccoli rubber bands around its base, so the crystal shade fit into the new brass candle holder. I have the candle with crystal shade overhanging the trivet of the Breakers in Newport, Rhode Island. I hung a little red and white styrofoam Christmas candy cane on it. CIO

I found some lens paper, which I put in the silver Parthenon box on the long mahogany bureau. I will now clean up. CIO
Note: <888> 06/17/04 Thursday 11:55 A.M.: After the last message, I moved the HP LaserJet IID laser printer on the dining room table back a few inches, so the paper trays fit into it without interfering with access to the kitchen entrance. I sorted out the papers on it and the wooden pineapple next to it. I moved the extra pairs of eye glasses, eye glass strap, and eye glass tools from the dining room table location to the wicker rack to the right side of the bedroom bed. Thus the dining room table is neater looking. I went to bed, and I was up at 10 A.M.. I ate breakfast of oatmeal, toast with strawberry preserves, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I stopped by CVS, and I bought a 12 roll package of a 1000 sheet rolls of Scott toilet paper for $5.49 plus .33 tax for $5.82 total, which I paid for with my Bank of New York Master Card debit card. On the way back down Greenwich Avenue, I stopped by the Bank of New York ATM machine on Greenwich Avenue, and I transferred funds into my checking debit card account at the ATM machine. I read this week that 4 million people have funds taken from them through internet piracy, but since I generally have such small amounts of funds in my account, and since I watch it closely, I do not worry as much. I completed my walk. I used the bathroom at the senior and arts center. I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought a 250 count package of Stop and Shop white napkins for $1.50, a 10 ounce package of fresh spinach for $1.99, three half gallons of Tropicana Premium orange juice with calcium for $2 each, and a 16 ounce jar of Planter's dry roasted lightly salted peanuts for $1.99 for $11.57 total. I used my Bank of New York Master Card debit card to pay for the purchase. I then returned home, and I put away my purchases. I drank some filtered iced water. I am now making up a batch of www.geocities.com/mikelscott/icetea.htm . CIO
Note: <888> 06/16/04 Wednesday 5:35 P.M.: I made and ate my usual salad www.geocities.com/mikelscott/salad.htm . I used all of the regular ingredients, and for the cheddar cheese portion I used Cabot's www.cabotcheese.com 50% less fat Vermont white cheddar cheese. I had the salad with a glass of iced tea. I took the two Harvard www.harvard.edu butter plates from the wicker rack in the bedroom, and I washed them, and I put them underneath the brass candle holders underneath the hurricane globes on the maple side table in the living room. I will now shut down the computer, and I will go back out. CIO
Note: <888> 06/16/04 Wednesday 4:20 P.M.: I went out after the last message. I went by Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street. I then went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop. I then drove up North Street to the Merritt Parkway. There is construction during the daytime between North Street and Den Road to the east. I drove up to Route 7 in Wilton, Connecticut, and I went to T.J. Maxx. I was able to exchange the gift polo shirt and shirt sleeve dress casual shirt for $29 store credit. They said the khakis did not come form T.J. Maxx. I bought a 27.5 inch by 33 inch cranberry red wood framed mirror for $29.99 plus $1.80 tax for $31.79 total. It has hooks on the back for hanging it horizontal of vertical. I then went to Wal-Mart, and I bought a Mainstays home miracleware microwave food cover for $1.97, a Brita Pitcher Filter for $6.96, and a 8 pack ACT II Butter 94% fat free microwave popcorn for $2 plus .54 tax for $11.47 total, and I used my Bank of New York Master Card debit card to charge it. As I was exiting the store, I noticed about a dozen people running out of the store, and I thought it was a bit of an over response to a shop lifter, but apparently a customer had a heart attack in the parking lot. Within 5 to 10 minutes, the police, fire department, and the Emergency Medical Technicians in the Ambulance were there administering life saving procedures. I left before the ambulance left. I then went to New Canaan, Connecticut to the Visiting Nurse New Canaan Thrift shop across the street from the fire house. One has to pay for parking in the adjacent lot with a solar powered parking slip dispenser at .25 an hour for only numbered parking spaces. I toured the New Canaan thrift shop, and there prices are up from when I was last there a few years ago. They are pretty much the same prices as the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop. I bought a pair of Hagar waist 40 inch by 29 inch length white khaki casual slacks for $6, a pair of 40 inch waist by 30 inch length Stafford's from Thomasville, Georgia khakis for $7.50 and a long sleeve light weight Madras Lord and Taylor burgundy and dark blue pattern extra large shirt for $5 for $18.50 total cash. I put my purchases in the car, and I sat out in front of the New Canaan old town hall for a while. I then walked around the central downtown area and the village green with the churches, and I returned from walking around the green and downtown area back to where my car was parked across the street from the fire house. I then returned home to my apartment in Greenwich, Connecticut via the Merritt Parkway. I brought up my purchases in two trips. I had mirror wire, so I strung it across the back of the red framed mirror to hang it vertically. I hung it on the left side wall at the bathroom entrance, where the narrower wood frame mirror was. I used two 50 pound OOK hooks. I then took the wicker rack off from behind the toilet, and one of the sailing pictures. I hung the wood frame mirror that I had just taken off with a 50 pound OOK hook and two 30 pound OOK hooks. I used a 20 pound OOK hook to hang the sailing picture above the mirror more securely, and another 20 pound OOK hook to hang the matching sailing picture to the right and above the wire rack on the right wall to the toilet. I used another 20 pound OOK hook to hang another sailing picture above the inside bathroom door. I put some of the items from the wicker rack that I removed on the wicker rack to left of the sink and some other items on the hand rail above the toilet tank. Thus the toilet area looks roomier with a mirror. I rehung the wicker rack to the right side of the bedroom bed above the speaker on the night stand with two 20 pound OOK hooks. I put some spare eye glasses and the VCR remote control on the wicker rack with two Harvard plates and a pewter dish. I do not need to use the new Brita water pitcher filter yet. It is a dollar cheaper at Wal-Mart than CVS. I will put the Act II popcorn in the blue bookcase cupboard and the Brita filter on the shelf in the cupboard above the kitchen sink and microwave cover on top of the microwave with the other one. I tried on the clothes that I bought and they fit fine, but the pants are almost a bit tight, so I guess I should try loose weight, but since they are already washed, they will not shrink anymore. Wal-Mart also sells a 5,000 BTU General Electric air conditioner for $77. CIO
Note: <888> 06/16/04 Wednesday 9:45 A.M.: I had a telephone call from a relative at 9 P.M. last night and a another friend called at 11 P.M.. I was up at 7:30 A.M.. I had breakfast of oatmeal, toast with strawberry preserves, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I have a pair of khakis, a polo shirt, and a short sleeve dress shirt to return and exchange at T. J. Maxx http://www.tjmaxx.com/ , so when I go out, I will drive up to T.J. Maxx in Wilton, Connecticut up on Route 7. I will now shut down the computer, and I will clean up and go out.

Note: <888> 06/15/04 Tuesday 7:00 P.M.: I went out after the last message. I went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop. I bought a Sony Radio Cassette Player WM-AF54 Walkman Sports with headphones for $3. I then went down by the waterfront. I chatted with a regular fisherman. I then went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue, and I sat out at various locations. I stopped by the Greenwich Hardware store, and I browsed the 70% off rack. I bought from the rear of the top floor of the store for 50% off a green glass sugar jar pourer for $2.49 and two six ounce green glass vinegar and oil pourers for $4.19 both plus .40 tax for $7.08 total. I then completed my walk, and I used the bathroom at the senior and arts center. I then returned home. I scraped off the labels off the sugar pourer and vinegar and oil pourers with my scraping blade, and then I scoured the remaining glue with a scouring steel sponge and hot water. I then filled the sugar pourer with sugar, and I put it on the dining room table, and I filled the oil pourer with olive oil and the vinegar pourer with balsamic vinegar, and I put them on the dining room table. I put in two new Walgreen Heavy Duty AA batteries in the Sony Walkman, and it works just fine. I noticed the original headphones have to have the ear pieces fitted into the ears for better listening quality. I put it on the wire rack behind the apartment entrance door with the other radios. I put CVS drain cleaner in the bathroom sink before I left, so I will now plunge it with the plunger and run hot water through it to clean it out. I am also running Win Doctor on the Dell backup computer. I drank some cold filtered water. I shut down the Dell backup computer. CIO
Note: <888> 06/15/04 Tuesday 2:05 P.M.: I went through my email. On the Dell backup computer, I finished installing Windows XP SP2 RC2 and the Updates update, and it is all running just fine. Note: <888> 06/13/04 Sunday 7:20 P.M.: I went out after the last message. I went by the Exxon gasoline station next to the Greenwich Library, and I bought $4.65 of regular unleaded gasoline at $2.359 a gallon for about 27 miles per gallon usage. I then went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue, and I sat out at various locations. I stopped by CVS, and I bought two 7.4 ounce boxes of six Nature Valley Trail Mix fruit and nut bars for $1.99 each box plus two 13 ounce bottles of Palmolive ultra antibacterial dish washing liquid for $1.59 for both buy one get one free plus .10 tax for $5.67 total. I then completed my walk. I then went down by the waterfront, and I chatted with a local observer. I noticed the skies today show evidence of the volcanic activity recently in Indonesia http://www.volcano.si.edu/reports/usgs/index.cfm where there are three active volcanoes currently. I was told this past Monday that a jet flying over Indonesia had lost power in a volcanic ash cloud, and had descended to 12,000 feet to restart its engines and then once back up at the higher altitude, it had lost power again, and then when it descended to 12,000 feet, it was able to restart its engines once again. However, with the high mountains in Indonesia, I am not sure cruising at 12,000 feet would be safe. Whatever, the case the volcanic cloud cover has made it cooler here for this time of year. Currently it is 64 degrees Fahrenheit
Weather Underground: Greenwich, Connecticut Forecast . I suppose this activity might mean a colder winter too. I next drove by the Greenwich Library parking lot, and I observed the same volcanic clouds in the skies coming out of the southwest. I noticed the Fuji Blimp was flying over the Buick Classic PGATOUR.COM - Buick Classic . I saw an old peach colored 1956 Buick Roadmaster downtown from California. I also think after the Buick Classic is over, some of the local Buick www.buick.com car dealers offer discounts on the Buicks that were used in the tournament. I next returned home, and I drank some cold water out of the Brita water filter container in the refrigerator. CIONote: <888> 06/13/04 Sunday 3:00 P.M.: I will now clean up, and I will go out to enjoy the nice blustery day. It is probably a good day for sailing or wind surfing today. CIO

Note: <888> 06/13/04 Sunday 3:45 A.M.: I read up to page 50 of the Northern Trust 2003 Annual Report. It seems to be a very well managed bank and trust company. I ate half of a 9 ounce can of Walgreen's smoked almonds with some iced tea. CIO
Note: <888> 06/13/04 Sunday 1:35 A.M.: I slept since the last message. I had a telephone call about 4 P.M. from a friend. I was up at 11:30 P.M.. I ate breakfast of oatmeal, toast with strawberry preserves, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I watched some television. I threw out some garbage. I picked up my mail. I will now start reading the Northern Trust annual report some more. I set the air conditioner at 70 degrees Fahrenheit, since it was a bit warm in the apartment. CIO
Note: <888> 06/12/04 Saturday 2:15 P.M.: I read the first 20 pages of the Northern Trust Bank annual report. I thought Northern Trust was just a small Chicago, Illinois bank, but it seems to have gotten a bit bigger, since I graduated from Lake Forest College www.lfc.edu in Lake Forest, Illinois back in 1972. They now have New York City and Stamford, Connecticut offices along with other offices elsewhere. I chatted briefly with a relative. I turned the General Electric Profile 15,500 BTU air conditioner with remote control up to 74 degrees Fahrenheit setting from 68 degrees Fahrenheit. It seemed a bit cool in here, but I guess after the cold winter, it is actually a bit warmer. I am a bit tired, so I will put the computer on standby, and I will take a nap. CIO
Note: <888> 06/12/04 Saturday 12:55 P.M.: I made and ate my usual salad www.geocities.com/mikelscott/salad.htm . Instead of tuna fish, I cut two 5/16 inch thick slices of cold eye round of beef, and I cut them into half inch wide strips, and I used them in the salad. That was the rest of the beef eye round. For the cheddar cheese portion, I use Cabot's www.cabotcheese.com 50% less fat Vermont white cheddar cheese. I used all of the other regular ingredients. I had the salad with a glass of iced tea. CIO

I bound it in a Staples Clamp binder, and I put it on the center of the side maple table at the apartment entrance side of the blue sofa. I have printed 991 sheets on the printer of the 1250 sheets on the starter cartridge, but of course I have the 7000 sheet cartridge still available that I bought last month from http://infinityimaging.com/ for $72

End of Scott's Notes week of 06/12/04:
Note: <888> 06/12/04 Saturday 7:55 A.M.: I watched some of Ronald Reagan's funeral procession in California after the last message, and I went to bed. I woke up at 9:45 P.M., and I ate a piece of cheese cake with iced tea. I then watched Ronald Reagan's grave side service. I went to bed at 11 P.M.. I was up at 5 A.M.. I ate breakfast of oatmeal, toast with strawberry preserves, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I took out the bag of old and ripped linens from above the false ceiling above the bedroom bed, and I went through them again, and I took out some good items and put them in the top drawer of the white bureau in the bedroom, and I threw out the old and ripped linens along with the Brita water filter box. I saved the parts for the Brita refrigerator mount water filter that I did not use in the right top cabinet in the blue bureau in the kitchen. There was a Packard Bell Windows 95 computer in the dumpster that I do not need. There was a Princeton 15 inch monitor that I took out, but it did not work, so I put it back in the dumpster. I have enough spare and backup computer systems and monitors at the moment. I chatted with a neighbor. I will now send out my weekly notes. CIO
Note: <888> 06/11/04 Friday 8:15 P.M.: I will now shut down the computer, and I will go to bed soon. CIO
Note: <888> 06/11/04 Friday 7:35 P.M.: I resorted the bed linens again, so the ones that I can use are in the top drawer of the white bureau, and the older ones are in the plastic bag above the false ceiling above the bed. I put two green linen dinner napkins in the top drawer of the mahogany bureau in the living room. I am microwaving a Maria Callender 14 ounce grilled chicken tenders dinner, which I will eat with iced tea. CIO
Note: <888> 06/11/04 Friday 7:00 P.M.: In my bedroom closet, I took my summer shirts from the far left side, and I put them in the left center of the closet, and I moved my winter shirts from the left center to the far left. I also emptied the center white bureau drawers of bed linens, and I put them in a plastic bag, which I put in the false ceiling above the bed. I put my summer shorts that fit me along with the bathing suits that fit me in the center drawer. The bottom drawer is full of summer shorts and bathing suits that are too small for me. I also have the top drawer full of linens that I regularly use on the bed. CIO
Note: <888> 06/11/04 Friday 6:00 P.M.: I went out after the last message. I drove over to Tod's Point, and I walked the entire 2.5 miles around Tod's Point. I used the bathroom at the southwest area. I then stopped by the First Congregational Rummage Room Thrift Shop in Old Greenwich, and I bought a stainless steel whisky sour strainer for .50 and a Wedgwood blue plastic soap dish for a dollar plus .09 tax for $1.59 total. I then went by Staples, and I bought a three pack of Staples Clamp Binders for $5.99 plus .36 tax for $6.35 total, and I used my Bank of New York Master Card Debit card for the payment. I then went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop, and I used my Master Card Debit Card, and I bought a Master Suite 8 Shelf Shoe Bag 8.5" X 12" X 46" made in Taiwan for $4 and a Brita www.brita.com Refrigerator Model water filter for $7.50 for $11.50 total. I then went by Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street. I next went downtown, and I went by the Merry Go Round Mews thrift shop. All of their clothes are 75% off. I looked at their pants but none of them fit me, and neither did the suits and sports jackets. However, if one is about 6 foot 3 inches tall and weighs about 200 pounds on the far right side of the men's suit rack they have about 10 very good suits for $10 to $15. I sat out for a while downtown. I then drove down by the waterfront. I then returned home. I rotated my winter jackets and coats in my right living room close putting them on the left side and some of them on the right side of the left closet. I put my light weight jacket on the right side of the right closet. In my left closet, I put my winter sports coats and suits on the right side and my summer weight suits and sports coats on the left side. I installed the closet shoe bag on the right side of the right closet. I then took out shoes from the left closet and put them in the shoe bag along with some from the right closet. I also moved my summer sneakers, sandals, and deck shoes from the left closet to the right closet floor. I soaked the Brita water filter for 15 minutes in cold water, and I put it in the Brita refrigerator model filter container. The filter looked like it might have been used once or twice, since it had a little moisture in it, but the unit is like new. I moved the Lindener Beer from the lower right shelf along with the Perrier and Stop and Shop tomato juice to the top right back shelf of the refrigerator, and I put the orange juice on the lower shelf on the right side. I then filled the Brita Refrigerator model filter with water, and I put it on the top refrigerator shelf on the right side in front. The Brita Refrigerator model has a spout for easy water dispensing. It should be chilled in a while. I put the whisky sour stainless steel strainer on the middle portion of the Danish bar, and I put the Wedgwood Blue plastic soap dish with a new bar of CVS beauty soap on the right back side of the kitchen sink. I drank some iced tea. I made another $5 Campaign contribution with my Bank of New York Debit card online at http://www.georgewbush.com/btlhome.aspx . I saw a young fellow at the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop today with a United States Navy Academy shirt on that bore a striking resemblance to Ronald Reagan when he was about 21 year old. CIO
Note: <888> 06/11/04 Friday 8:50 A.M.: I was up at 4 A.M., and I had breakfast of oatmeal, toast with strawberry preserves, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I did my house cleaning and watering the plants. I also cleaned the Honeywell Hepa air purifier outer charcoal filter with soapy water, and I cleaned its case. I put my Michael Scott name plate on the maple side board table, and I also put the little Brazilian stone map pen holder that a friend gave me on the right side of the Maple table. It use to have a silver Mark Cross pen, but when I lived on Steamboat Road, I invited three visitors from Ireland whom I did not know over for beer, and the pen disappeared. I have a Harvard pen in it that I bought at Staples. I also put a Post It Note holder on the right end of the table for telephone notes. I also to go with all of the other flags of convenience, on the right side I put a glass paper weight with a little confederate flag in it. I chatted with a relative. I ate a piece of cheese cake with iced tea. I will now shut down the computer, and I will go out and enjoy the day. I will not watch Ronald Reagan's funeral, although it will be quite historical, I tend to get depressed watching funerals, and I would rather remember him when he was alive. Today is a national day of mourning, so it is also a holiday for government facilities and services. CIO
Note: <888> 06/10/04 Thursday 7:30 P.M.: I microwaved and ate a 16 ounce Maria Callender chicken pot pie, which I ate with a glass of iced tea. I will now shut down the computer, and I will go to bed shortly. I am tired, since I have been awake over 24 hours. CIO
Note: <888> 06/10/04 Thursday 6:30 P.M.: I went out after the last message. I mail my CTE grant information to the Connecticut Light and Power www.cl-p.com credit department. I then made my 3 P.M. appointment. I next went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop. I bought a 4" by 6" French flag with plastic pedestal for a dollar. I then drove down by the waterfront. I next went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought plum tomatoes at $1.99 a pound for $3.24, 10 ounces of fresh spinach for $1.99, a box of fresh mushrooms $1.99, and a 16 ounce bag of baby carrots for $1.99 for $9.21 total. I then went by the Arnold Bread outlet, and I bought a loaf of nine grain bread for $2.59 and a Entenmann's cheese cake for $1.89 for $4.48 total. I then returned home, and I put the French flag that I bought where the larger French flag was on the center maple side board. I move the larger French flag beneath mirror above the dining room table on the wicker rack. I then relaxed for a while. CIO
Note: <888> 06/10/04 Thursday 1:25 P.M.: I ate a peanut butter sandwich. I turned the air conditioner down to 68 degrees Fahrenheit because I have a relative visiting up around Fiords in Norway to the Artic Circle, so in case any of them come down this way and look me up, they will be cool. I have a 3 P.M. appointment, so I will now shut down the computer. I think I will wear my Hemingway shirt today to go with the tropical weather. It is currently 75 degrees Fahrenheit
weather.com - Local Weather Greenwich, Connecticut Page , so supposedly for the next ten days, the weather in this area will be mild. CIONote: <888> 06/10/04 Thursday 12:45 P.M.: I could not rest, so I watched some television. I sat outside briefly. I picked up my mail. I gave my calling card to two people in the building. I decided with the international G8 Conference http://www.g8online.org/ and http://www.g8usa.gov/ going on to make my apartment look a little bit more international looking with what I have available, and I could afford. I have hanging over the three living room windows a from left to right, the U.S.A, Dutch, and British Union Jack. I took the smaller U.S.A. flag and British flag from the bedroom, and I hung them off the lamp shades beneath each of the respective similar flags. I then took the smaller flags and on the Maple side board table, I put the French flag in the back at center in the mahogany and glass ash tray, and then along the back from left to right the Swiss flag, the Canadian flag, the Belgium flag, the Scottish flag, the Norwegian flag in front of the French flag, the Swedish flag, the Danish flag, the German flag, and then on the right end the other Swiss flag. I also took out from the long mahogany bureau the large Saudi Arabian flag, and I hung it over the center hallway bookcase with two OOK nails. Thus we have put out our official symbols that we could afford. I figure since it is mostly cold in this area most of the time, we probably know more cold weather people, but since the Saudis make so much money off keeping us warm during the colder periods, they probably can afford to show up in this area, when it is warmer. Of course the printed press around here claims more of our energy comes from Canada for heating in terms of natural gas and coal tar sands derived fuel products, but I am rather sure a lot of the oil being consumed in transportation is probably coming from the Middle East. Whatever, the case I usually change some of the decor of the apartment with the seasons. I have the General Electric Profile 15,500 BTU air conditioner with remote control set at 70 degrees Fahrenheit, which cools the room down to about 74 degrees Fahrenheit and also takes some of the moisture out of the air. As I said before, when running computer equipment, it is important to try to keep it cooler, since electrical components tend to generate heat. I also moved the Steuben style glass vase and small Chinese vase to the left of the center living room window ledge lamp with Victorian lamp shade and the family picture in front of the Wayfarer restaurant in Cape Porpoise, Maine on top of the Dell backup computer CPU behind the 8 port hub. CIO
Note: <888> 06/10/04 Thursday 8:05 A.M.: I went through some of my email. I will now shut down the computer, and I will go to bed soon. I have a 3 P.M. appointment today. CIO
Note: <888> 06/10/04 Thursday 6:25 A.M.: I saw in the news that Margaret Thatcher was at the Capitol Memorial for Ronald Reagan. I recall seeing her at the Hyatt Hotel reception in Greenwich about 14 years ago. CIO
Note: <888> 06/10/04 Thursday 6:15 A.M.: I printed out the calling cards on the Minolta Laser printer in black and white since the cost of printing on the laser printer is neglible, each calling card costs me $.01462 or about 1.5 cents a card. Earlier I adjusted the color settings on my CompUSA 19 inch monitor that I got about five years ago for $429 plus tax. It was one of my major investments in my entire internet setup, and about two thirds of the price was a Christmas gift from a friend. CIO
Note: <888> 06/10/04 Thursday 5:40 A.M.: I made up a calling card that is vertical, and for the top half is the picture of myself underneath I.M. Pei's glass pyramid at the Louvre 12 years ago, and the bottom half has this text:

I know I spelled Volonteer wrong, but I think it looks better that way. I printed out five sheets of 10 calling cards for 50 total. I will keep 10 in my wallet and 40 in reserve. I put the remaining 95 sheets of calling cards in their moisture proof packages in their box underneath the table underneath the Minolta QMS PagePro 1250W laser printer. CIO
Note: <888> 06/10/04 Thursday 4:25 A.M.: I scanned and copied my CTE energy grant letter, and I printed out a cover letter, and I put both in an envelope to mail to the Connecticut Light and Power www.cl-p.com credit department. I will now use Microsoft Home Publishing 2000 to print out some calling cards. I will try to do a fancier design. CIO
Note: <888> 06/10/04 Thursday 3:55 A.M.: I made and ate my usual salad www.geocities.com/mikelscott/salad.htm . Instead of tuna fish, I cut two 5/16 inch thick slices of cold eye round of beef, and I cut them into half inch wide strips, and I used them in the salad. For the cheddar cheese portion, I use Cabot's www.cabotcheese.com 50% less fat Vermont white cheddar cheese. I used all of the other regular ingredients. I had the salad with a glass of iced tea.
Note: <888> 06/10/04 Thursday 2:30 A.M.: I went out to my Hyundai hatchback, and I got the collapsible luggage cart out of the back of the car, and I brought it up to my apartment. I used it to bring down the 19 inch Iiyama monitor downstairs, and I put it on the right inside front of the dumpster. I then put the luggage cart in the back of my Hyundai. I then went back up to my apartment, and I moved from the AMD backup computer in the bedroom the Hewlett Packard Ultra VGA 1280 monitor to the Dell backup computer, and I connected it. I then moved one of the Dell backup monitors from the left HP backup computer to the AMD backup computer. I then moved the Dell monitor from the right HP backup computer to the left HP backup computer. I then moved the Royal monitor from the IBM Cyrix backup computer to the right HP backup computer, and I connected them all. When I started the AMD backup computer, I had to set up the CMOS properties. I just put in a new CMOS battery about three months ago, and the one before that was less than six months old. Possibly since I hardly ever turn it on, something is draining down the CMOS battery. I put the Priority Mail box with my Seneca cigarettes on the IBM Cyrix computer CPU. I started up the Dell backup computer in the living room, and it is running just fine with the HP Ultra VGA 1280 monitor. I took the Norwegian flag off the Dell backup computer monitor, and I put it on the Dell CPU in front of the German flag. One the Dell backup computer monitor, I still have the Canadian, Scottish, Swedish, and Danish flags. Thus the apartment is pretty much back in order again. CIO
Note: <888> 06/10/04 Thursday 1:05 A.M.: I did not get around to printing out my calling cards yet. I started up the primary computer, and the right IIyama 19 inch monitor would not start. I tried my usual procedure of trying to start it with out the video cable connected, but it would not start. The green power light would come on for a split second if I had the video cable removed, and I disconnected and reconnect the power cable. Since it was not working, I disconnected it, and I took the cover off and looked at the components, and I removed the main circuit board briefly, and it all looked in order. I checked the cable connectors, and the small fuse underneath the main circuit board was fine. After fiddling with it for some time and testing it, I put it back together, and tested it one more time to no avail. I put it by the apartment entrance door to be taken out and dumped some time soon. I bought if from the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop in February for $30. I move my CompUSA 19 inch monitor to the right center of the primary computer connected to the Mad Dog AGP 4X 64 meg video card. I took the Dell Trinitron 17 inch monitor off the Dell backup computer, and I put it to the left of the primary computer and set it to boot off the Diamond Multimedia PCI 32 meg video card. I have the PCI video card set to boot first and the AGP video card as the secondary video card. Thus my desktop with the icons are to the left, and the right monitor with the larger monitor and higher resolution video card is for web browsing or what ever else I want to move over to the front and center monitor. I moved the US Robotics Sportster Voice 56K Faxmodem to on top of the left monitor, but I still do not have it hooked up, and it is just for backup. I also have the X10 wireless remote control mouse on the right side of the left monitor. Thus it is still basically the same setup, but the left monitor is a 17 inch monitor. CIO
Note: <888> 06/09/04 Wednesday 9:30 P.M.: I received my Compulabel Business Cards http://www.compuforms.com/business.htm via UPS this afternoon at 3 P.M.. Thus it was a very speedy delivery from New Jersey via UPS in less than 36 hours since I ordered them. I was up at 7 A.M., and I watched the Memorial Ceremony for Ronald Reagan from the U.S. Capitol. I ate breakfast of oatmeal, toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I will now use the Microsoft Home Publishing 2000 program to print out some business or calling cards on my Minolta QMS PagePro 1250W laser printer. CIO
Note: <888> 06/09/04 Wednesday 11:50 A.M.: I ate a peanut butter sandwich with iced tea. I will now shut down the computer, and I will go to bed soon. CIO
Note: <888> 06/09/04 Wednesday 11:35 A.M.: I went out, and I chatted with a couple of neighbors. It is hot out, and it is suppose to go up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit today, but it is not suppose to last http://www.weather.com/weather/local/06830?lswe=06830&lwsa=WeatherLocalUndeclared . It is suppose to be cooler for the next ten days. I checked my mail, and I got my electricity bill that I do not have to pay. I mentioned to a neighbor that when it is hot like today, one can take 1/8th of a teaspoon of India Hot Curry and put it in 6 to 8 ounces of chilled tomato juice and mix it, and the India Hot Curry helps one not feel the heat, and the tomato juice helps one not taste the curry to much. If one has not forgotten about it, the tropical weather season will be coming up soon, and it might once again effect points further north http://www.geocities.com/mikelscott/weather.htm . I saw Dragon Flies last Saturday when I was at Tod's Point, and that is a sure sign of tropical weather. CIO
Note: <888> 06/09/04 Wednesday 11:00 A.M.: I went out after the last message. I drove down by the waterfront. I took my deck chair out of the back of my Hyundai hatch back, and I sat out for a while on the pier on Steamboat Road. I chatted with a couple of other waterfront observers. I can not figure out whether the electricity was off this morning at 1:30 A.M. when it appeared all of the electricity was off in the Belle Haven section of town. Possibly with the hot weather we have rolling brown outs. I checked the oil level on my car, and it is still fine. I still have about 500 miles to drive, before I am due for an oil change. I next sat out for a while downtown. I then went by Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street. I next went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop. I bought for $10 about a 10 foot by about 5 foot white quilted linen chair throw. I saw someone wearing a shirt from the Million Dollar Cowboy bar in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. I mentioned that I thought the original bar of that same name was in Cody, Montana. However, I think there is also a Cody, Wyoming. I then returned directly home. I put the white linen quilted throw on the French reproduction sitting chair at my apartment entrance next to the Danish bar. It looks quite presentable, and fits well. I possibly could also use it on the day bed, but I have a nice Navajo blanket on the day bed. I called up the credit department at Connecticut Light and Power www.cl-p.com at 1-800-286-2828, and they told me if I send a copy of my CTE, Inc. Energy Program grant letter, I would not have to make any more electricity payments until my grant was used up, although it has not been yet received. I generally like to have some spare funds in the summer when I am more active. I drank some iced tea. CIO
Note: <888> 06/09/04 Wednesday 6:30 A.M.: I went through part of my email. For today http://www.weather.com/outlook/health/allergies/weather/tenday/06830 , and it is suppose to be hot, so I will go out now for a little cooler morning air. I will now shut down the computer. Quote of the day, "Every new day begins with possibilities. It is up to us to fill it with the things that move us towards progress and peace." Ronald Reagan. On a computer maintenance note, I actually enjoy warmer weather, but when maintaining computers that generate heat, it is important to keep them cooler with air conditioning on warmer days, so I thus keep my apartment General Electric Profile 15,500 BTU air conditioner with remote control set at 72 degrees Fahrenheit, and on the warmer days, I set it at 70 degrees Fahrenheit. CIO
Note: <888> 06/09/04 Wednesday 5:40 A.M.: I took out the six inch square mahogany box with glass ashtray in it from the top left shelf of the bookcase cupboard, and I put it on the maple side table in between the two hurricane glass shades with brass candle sticks and candles in them. It freed up a little space in my cupboard bookcase for the items that I just bought. The computer system seems to be running just fine. CIO
Note: <888> 06/09/04 Wednesday 5:10 A.M.: I did a System Restore to last Saturday June 5, but the Logitech Wireless mouse kept misbehaving. I put in two new AAA Energizer Alkaline batteries, but it still did not work. However, the Logitech wireless mouse and keyboard are made in China, and in Asia, the AAA batteries have a longer positive pole. I have installed little slips of paper in the Logitech Wireless mouse to push out the wire contacts a small fraction, so they make contacts with American batteries. However, one of the wire contacts had slipped down and was not making contact. I raised it up with the small pieces of paper behind it, but it went back down when I installed the battery. I used my small eye glasses screw driver to pry it up further into position, and it is now working just fine. I have it set to Channel 1, and with the new batteries and the contacts in position, it seems to be working just fine. CIO
Note: <888> 06/09/04 Wednesday 4:20 A.M.: I went out after the last message. I ran Norton Anti Virus 2004 on the primary computer while I was out, but it had frozen up when I returned on a Cache folder. Still the system ran fine after I rebooted. Possibly power saving features interfered with the program. I also had mouse problems after the last message, and when I rebooted without the cable modem turned on, they still occurred. On my Logitech wireless mouse, I switched from channel 2 to channel 1. I then cleaned up, and I went out. I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue, and I sat out at various locations. It apparently was hot today. I tried using the ATM at the Greenwich Avenue branch of Putnam Trust Bank of New York, but the machine was temporarily out of order. I chatted with a Scottish fellow that I have chatted with before, and he was watering the hanging plants on Greenwich Avenue. He told me the United States of America government is permitting Mexican residents to drive on the highways of the United States of America with Mexican driving permits and registration, which I did not know. He also said that lots of trucks were being stopped on the Merritt Parkway which is limited to cars because the Mexicans or Latinos can not read the signs in English. He also told me that one can still obtain Balmoral http://www.balmoralcastle.com/ Scotch whisky Balmoral Castle Whisky in Scotland, and his son had brought some back for him on a recent visit. I chatted with him about the little bit I know about British affairs. I then completed my walk. I drove down by the waterfront, and it was unusual, because all of the houses on the waterfront were dark. Possibly there was a power outage, but the lights are on here. I then used the ATM machine at Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street. I next drove over to Walgreens www.walgreens.com in Old Greenwich, and I ripped out the store circular coupons for the items that I was interested in purchasing. With the store coupons, I bought six packages of ACT II microwave popcorn for 3 for a $1, three 3.7 ounce tins of Commander sardines in soy oil for 3 for $2, four 6 ounce cans of Geisha crab meat for $1.50 each, three eight ounce cans of Geisha sliced pineapple for .39 each, three 4 ounce cans of Geisha pieces and stems mushrooms for .39 each, three 5 ounce cans of Armour Vienna sausages for .39 each, three 16 ounce boxes of Deerfield Farms baking soda for .39 each, two 7 ounce cans of Barbasol close shave gel with aloe for .99 each, a two pack of Walgreen AA heavy duty batteries for .39, a 9 ounce can of Walgreen roasted and salted almonds for $2.99 plus .14 sales tax for $20.18 total. I saved $12.66 with the Walgreen store coupons and $2.60 on Walgreen advertised specials. I then returned home, and I drank some iced tea. I will now put away my purchases. CIO
Note: <888> 06/08/04 Tuesday 11:40 P.M.: I chatted with a relative. I made and ate my usual salad www.geocities.com/mikelscott/salad.htm . Instead of tuna fish, I cut two 5/16 inch thick slices of cold eye round of beef, and I cut them into half inch wide strips, and I used them in the salad. For the cheddar cheese portion, I use 50% Stop and Shop Wisconsin white cheddar cheese and 50% Cabot's www.cabotcheese.com 50% less fat Vermont white cheddar cheese. I used all of the other regular ingredients. I had the salad with a glass of iced tea. Basically when my family first moved here to Greenwich, Connecticut in 1961, one of our family's original friends in Greenwich owned a cheese company in Wisconsin, which they sold to American Home Products now www.wyeth.com which is involved in a lot of products worldwide, however the individual worked for American Home Products, he might have sold the cheese company to Kraft http://www.kraft.com/ which, also has quite a few other food products besides cheese. When I last visited Key West, Florida in February 1982, when it was minus 24 degrees Fahrenheit below zero in New York City, I met a man named Steve Bahl whom owned Fennimore Cheese http://www.fennimorecheese.com/ in Wisconsin, which supposedly had a million head of Dairy cows. Steve looked like Adolph Hitler or Tennessee Williams, but he talked like Tennessee Ernie Ford. Steve lived above a funeral parlor on Simonton Street near Caroline street in Key West, and he seemed to be escaping the colder weather in Wisconsin, which was probably colder than New York. I recall Steve seemed to know some of my family from the Midwest, and he seemed to know we are somewhat established. Thus there is more than one cheese connection in our family. I will now shut down the computer, and I will clean up, and I will go out for a walk. CIO
Note: <888> 06/08/04 Tuesday 9:25 P.M.: I logged on to Connecticut Light and Power www.cl-p.com and this month's bill which I have not received yet, does not show that I have been credited with the $535 CTE, Inc. Energy Program that the grant letter that I received from them on January 12, 2004 says that I would be receiving. I called up Connecticut Light and Power at 1-800-286-2000, and the told me I should call the Connecticut Light and Power credit department at 1-800-286-2828, which is opened week days from 8 A.M. to 6 P.M. except 4:30 P.M. on Friday. I put the grant letter on the dining room table to have available for when I get around to calling. Possibly I will be awake at 8 A.M. tomorrow morning, so I will make the call then. CIO
Note: <888> 06/08/04 Tuesday 8:55 P.M.: After the last message, I chatted with a neighbor. I went to bed, and I was up at 4 P.M.. I ate breakfast of oatmeal, toast with strawberry preserves, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I went back to bed until 8 P.M.. I watched some television. I picked up some mail. I changed my three calendars from May to June. CIO
Note: <888> 06/08/04 Tuesday 6:25 A.M.: I will now shut down the computer, and I will go to bed soon. I just noticed when I read the Greenwich Time www.greenwichtime.com that my mouse froze up because of the Java script they put in their web pages, and I had to restart. Everyone knows that IBM has a lot of too cleaver people in this area whom know quite a bit about computers. However, as if I do not need to remind IBM, individuals and groups affiliated with business relationships with IBM worldwide can always terminate their agreements should IBM not continue to maintain a professional level of conduct. I am NOT implying that IBM has put bad code in the Greenwich Time web pages. What I do know for sure is that because of IBM's notoriety within the computer field, they also attract all sorts of hostile individuals and groups into this area seeking to reek havoc for their own private or personal gain or curiosity. Thus I do not think the professionals at IBM would be bothered with hacking, but I am sure they have attracted those into the area, whom would take advantage of the situation. Even today, when my right monitor would not turn on, it might imply that someone had accessed my computer and started it up differently than I normally start it up, which would have caused the right monitor not to function until I reset it. I have frequently seen evidence of someone tampering with my computer equipment, but realistically with a cable modem open to anywhere in the world and since the systems are so complex, it just as easily could be someone from half way around the world. As I said before hacking tricks tend to start happening when the children start to get out of school on vacation. Perhaps we should make the children learn a higher level of professional responsibility, but it could be some other factor like my neighbors next door whom also have computers might be using a wireless mouse and their frequency interferes with my frequency. With the internet and personal computers, we are talking about thousands of variables, so nothing is absolutely certain. However, with the cable modem turned off, the problem does not happen, so it would imply that someone outside my immediate environment is accessing my system through the cable modem internet service. Well time for bed. CIO
Note: <888> 06/08/04 Tuesday 5:55 A.M.: Of course the weather we experiencing just about now is the same weather that we had about four years ago during the third week of May, so some groups that travel with the weather or so possibly an individual or members of that same group when that incident happened are now in this area traveling north. I just ate a piece of cheese cake with iced tea. Generally when one has predator hunters in an area like this during certain times of the season, one also learns to keep predator wolves around, so you better check in with Grey Wolf or White Wolf. I have learned at night White Wolf security is fairly reliable, since a wolf is good at sniffing out potentially hostile intrusions. Of course there are more dangerous animals, but wolves are good at working around people. Well for all I know, the local activity in this area seems slower than normal, so possibly with all the news stories about terrorist threats in this area, people are avoiding this area for better or worse. Of course it could be just because it is colder than normal for this time of year recently. CIO
Note: <888> 06/08/04 Tuesday 5:25 A.M.: I have observed the waterfront on Steamboat Road for the last 20 years, since I moved down to Steamboat Road in June of 1984 and lived there for five years. In 20 years, I have seen just about everyone from around the world down by the waterfront depending on the seasons. I can recall about two years ago, we had a group of Ecuadorian Headhunters fishing on the pier in July and August, and although I saw them every day, I did not try to pick up casual conversation with them. I suppose some of the indigenous Indians also return to this area was there traditional Happy Hunting Grounds. I recall during the third week of May about four years ago, while I was walking south from the parking lot at the southwest picnic area of Tod's Point, someone took a shot at me with a rifle from the waterfront or it appeared to be that. I reported it in my notes at the time. I was walking south from the parking lot, and as I was walking underneath the main limb that over hangs the path, a large section of bark fell off the lower side of the limb. I did not think much of it, but I sat out at about the second picnic bench watching the birds on the waterfront. As I returned back down the path, I noticed stuck on a galvanized nail about a foot up from the base of the same tree, there was a 1.5 inch by 1.5 inch florescent orange target marker. I immediately departed the scene, and I informed an under cover police officer whom was stationed in the southwest parking area. My old 1976 White Volvo was parked behind some bushes at that location, so I was probably not identified with my car. Whatever, the case I told the gate guard, the Riverside Shopping Plaza post office, the group of police officers playing baseball in Bruce Park, the fishermen at Grass Island, some of the staff at the Indian Harbor Yacht Club, and the Greenwich Library reference librarian. I am not sure what the purpose was for using me for target practice, but I was much thinner thin, and I was wearing my size 38 Brook Brothers Leather bomber jacket from New Zealand with my olive green Australian bush hat, so I might have been mistaken for someone else at the time whom would have weighed about 170 pounds. I also called the Greenwich Police Department when I got home. There was no feed back or inquiry by law enforcement at the time. However on my own investigations in the same area shortly there after, I did noticed the clamming signs at Tod's Point in the same southwest picnic area had rifle shot holes in them. It is hard to tell how someone could fire from an opposite shore, unless they were on a boat. I was warned by one of the local veterans at Grass Island, whom looked like Buddy Epson that, "There Ain't No More Kentucky Wind Anymore", which implied the modern weapons are extraordinarily accurate. Whatever, the case that same day, there was Ku Klux Klan rally in Connecticut as I recall in either Hartford of Wallingford, and I recall seeing a lot of traffic more than usual in the area. Current President Bush was on the campaign trail, and that evening he appeared on the news from Kennebunkport, Maine, so possibly he might have been traveling through this area on his way to Kennebunkport. Since I have a vague resemblance to him particularly at a distance, someone might have staked out this area. I do not think I was the intended target, since I am one of the most commonly seen people in the Greenwich, Connecticut area. Whatever, the case it was during that time when people from down south were traveling up north, so possibly I might look like someone from down south associated with this area that people might not like. Of course when my hair is longer, I also look a little bit like Donald Trump too. Whatever, the case the bullet holes in the clamming signs at the beach were real, the florescent orange target market at the base of the tree was real, and the large section of bark falling off the base of the tree limb over hanging the park was real. Thus I feel a little bit more comfortable sitting around the police station downtown in my free time. Of course the wealthy people in this area can also afford expensive weaponry, so possibly one of their children got into their father's gun rack. CIO
Note: <888> 06/08/04 Tuesday 4:05 A.M.: Basically as a teenager, I was not too big, so I was not into contact sports. At age 18, I only weighed about a 125 pounds http://www.geocities.com/mike2scott2003/mls1968.jpg , so when I came back to Greenwich, Connecticut in December 1983, I was up to about 145 pounds at age 33, which was a very healthy weight. However, sitting in front of the computer for 14 years, although I am somewhat expert at the internet and personal computers, I currently weigh 210 pounds, so I am grossly overweight and out of shape. I keep trying to lose weight, but from what I can tell, my system must be slowing down, since although I do not eat too much, I have not managed to lose weight. In about the first two years back in Greenwich, I went from 145 pounds to 230 pounds, and about the time I went to Europe for the Winter Olympics in 1992, I was back down to 165 pounds. However, I still hope that sooner or later I will lose some weight, if only to have it easier on my joints with arthritis. CIO
Note: <888> 06/08/04 Tuesday 3:35 A.M.: I ordered a box of a hundred sheets of Avery Style 5371 10 white laser business cards per sheet for a 1000 cards total from this site http://www.compuforms.com/business.htm . They cost $14.62 with free UPS ground shipping from five different locations and in my case from New Jersey. When I tried to transfer additional funds from my Bank of New York Savings Account to my Bank of New York Checking Account over the internet, it said that I had exceeded my maximum amount of debits. I called up the Bank of New York 1-800-CALL-BNY, and they explained to me that I am only allowed six online or telephone debits from my savings account a month, and the rest of them have to be in person at the bank or ATM. I had enough funds in my Master Card Checking Debit card to cover the purchase, so it went through. They also explained to me on my Exxon gasoline purchase this past Sunday, the system works by charging one's account a dollar to verify the transaction and then in two to three days the amount of transaction is posted to one's account. CIO
Note: <888> 06/08/04 Tuesday 2:15 A.M.: I went through my email. I chatted with a night security official at another location. CIO
Note: <888> 06/08/04 Tuesday 1:45 A.M.: Of course when I originally walked over to Pennsylvania Avenue from the Hilton, and I walked up Pennsylvania Avenue to the Capitol, I spotted the trouble makers in the crowds, so on the way down Pennsylvania Avenue in line with the Presidential limousine, I had about a one mile running start to knock down the six 500 pound men. Thus any physics major could tell one that velocity and a small amount of weigh can upset a much larger weight. I was going through some personal items, and I noticed a made in China lap watch that was not working. I put in a new 2025 lithium battery in it, and it still does not work. I left the new battery in it. Maybe it will reset itself sooner or later with power. CIO
Note: <888> 06/08/04 Tuesday 12:45 A.M.: I was able to finance my political activity because being Scottish and Dutch, I tend to be very frugal. When I graduated from Lake Forest College www.lfc.edu in June 1972, when I returned to our house outside of Boston, my father gave me a Rolex watch similar to a chronometer http://www.rolex.com/ . It was silver with a small blue and a small red square, and I never wore it, although it was meant for marine use. I left it in the drawer in my desk. Somehow over all of the years of moving it from Greenwich, Connecticut to Greenville, South Carolina, to Norwich, Vermont to Philadelphia and to New Canaan and back to Philadelphia, it disappeared. At the time I got it, I think it cost $750, so if you look at Rolex's web site, one can see how expensive they are today. I thought about it recently because I have seen a tall younger fellow wearing the same watch driving a Ferrari. It sort of makes me think about those old stories that people wearing Rolex watches are usually retired from other more important duties. Still, I guess I could try to search out from Rolex if they have a record of the watch's number, since each Rolex watch has a unique number. I recall my father spent a great deal of time in Europe, so more than likely it was purchased in Europe. If Rolex has a record of the watch, and its current owner, one would be able to figure out how it came to be in someone's else ownership. I just left it in my desk drawer, and one day it was not there anymore. Also my 1954 Schwinn bicycle with Bendix brakes in mint condition disappeared in the same moves along with my Superman comics and Harry Truman autograph and World War I brass infantry compass. Thus when one tries to be politically involved one frequently seems to lose personal belongings, and one seems to get gradually poorer versus private enterprise. CIO
Note: <888> 06/08/04 Tuesday 12:05 A.M.: I chatted with another relative. I made and ate my usual salad www.geocities.com/mikelscott/salad.htm . Instead of tuna fish, I cut two 5/16 inch thick slices of cold eye round of beef, and I cut them into half inch wide strips, and I used them in the salad. For the cheddar cheese portion, I use Stop and Shop Wisconsin white cheddar cheese. I used all of the other regular ingredients. I had the salad with a glass of iced tea. I received a gift in the mail from one relative from another relative. It is a Ralph Lauren XXL baby blue and white 3/8 inch horizontal strip polo shirt. It should fit me just fine. I still have to return the two other gift shirts to T.J. Maxx in Norwalk, Connecticut when I have the time. Since the nation is in mourning for Ronald Reagan, I am maintaining a more somber routine until after the funeral on Friday. I attended President Reagan's inaugural in 1981, so I would imagine there will be a lot of deja vue friends showing up in Washington D.C. for his funeral. I recall standing on Pennsylvania Avenue before the inaugural, I noticed Ed McMahon of the Tonight Show was standing next to me, and he stuck out because he was tall. I always wander how many people I did not recognize at the event. I had been up all night having cocktails the night before the inaugural at a student bar in Greenwich Village near where President Reagan's son lived. I use to see a lot of students from California there. I was given three double Vodkas on the rocks by a bar patron, but since I do not normally drink, they generated my enthusiasm for the upcoming event. I took the train to the plane at Kennedy Airport, and I bought a $40 airline ticket on Braniff airlines to Washington D.C.. I just had my overnight bag, which contained a Brooks Brother's suit. I was one of only two passengers on the jet, which was strange, but the other passenger looked like Prince Boni Sadhir the oil minister for Saudi Arabia. Well, anyway I changed into my suit on the jet, and from National Airport, I took a taxi to the Hilton Hotel near Lafayette Square, and I checked my bag. I then attended the inaugural, and it was a cold January Day. I recall that there was some sort of commotion with some of the spectators as Ronald and Nancy Reagan passed in the limousine down Pennsylvania Avenue, and there were lots of cameras on at the event. I will not go into the details, but it was my impression that some out going President Carter's people were creating the commotion, and since Ronald Reagan was currently president, I tried to avoid the commotion, and I eventually was knocked to the ground by a half dozen 500 pound African American men whom were not being friendly towards the President. I was rescued by a couple of the secret service agents on the Parade detail who took me to a hospital to check me for injuries since in the process of knocking down six 500 pound people, I might have injured myself, and I eventually made it back to the Hilton Hotel. I walked across the street to the Sheraton Hotel, and I drank a Vodka and Tonic sitting next to a United States Navy Admiral that looked like Admiral Stansfield Turner having a drink, Jimmy Carter's CIA chief. I then returned to the Hilton next door, and I went downstairs, and I ate a Butter Scotch sundae in the ice cream parlor in the basement. I then sat out in the Hilton Lobby, and about 7 P.M., when I had just ordered and proceeded to drink a Drambuie Scotch liquor http://www.drambuie.com/ on the rocks, I noticed there was some additional activity. The Hilton Hotel was full of officers wearing military uniforms, and I was simply wearing my old Brooks Brother's suit, I got when I was 16 years old, which fit me at 150 pounds. I was told the President would be arriving shortly for the reception for the Metal of Honor recipients which was the first reception President Reagan attended. I do not know in the crowd if I saw him or not, so I guess the only time I saw President Reagan was during the inaugural parade for sure. After the event a taxi driver at the Hilton gave me a ride to the Dutch Inn in Georgetown now the Thomas Jefferson Inn on Jefferson Street, and I spent the night there, since they had accommodations unlike the downtown hotels. The following morning, when I went out to National Airport, some Greenwich people recognized me, and they gave me a free ride on a 727 jet with a "T" on the tail fin, and I arrived back that afternoon at Westchester Country Airport, and I took a taxi to the Greenwich train station, and I caught a train back up to where I was living in New Canaan, Connecticut. Thus in young republican politics when I was 30 years old, it was all a great adventure during a couple of cold winter's days. I recall paying about $65 for one night for the room at the Dutch Inn. Well, having seen all of the enthusiastic republicans at Ronald Reagan's inaugural, I always wandered if anyone took note of the Bush's entourage, since President Bush #40 was his Vice President. Whatever, the case my road to Washington D.C. on that trip had started on a summer vacation in Kennebunkport, Maine with family, and we all saw George Bush #40 playing tennis and later on at a town reception on the Village Green, when he had gotten the Vice President nomination. After that I made two trips to California in support of the Reagan Bush ticket with a side trip to Hawaii. Thus the political process can involve a lot of travel and dealing with lots of people including a great many like minded individuals. I noticed on that Inaugural Day in January 1981, there were not that many cold weather people in the crowd, but coming from Connecticut I was use to the cold, and I do not recall even wearing a winter coat, which at the time I did not own one. I recall in the apartment in New Canaan, Connecticut also about only food was a bowl of Jelly Beans, so at the beginning of the Reagan era, life was very lean, and it was full of lean and hungry people. Note: <888> 06/07/04 Monday 9:55 P.M.: I was up at 2:30 P.M.. I had breakfast of oatmeal, toast with strawberry preserves, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I cleaned up, and I went out. I went to my 4 P.M. appointment. I then went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue, and I sat out at various locations. I used the ATM machine on Greenwich Avenue at Putnam Trust Bank of New York at their Greenwich Avenue branch. During my walk, I stopped by the 70% off rack at the Greenwich Hardware store at the front of the store. The have a bin in the 70% rack full of electronic items. I bought a tan Gemini 25 foot modular coil telephone cord for $1.80 and a GC Electronics 6 foot Video cable for $1.50 plus .20 tax for $3.50 total. I completed my walk. I used the bathroom at the senior and arts center. They have done some more landscaping around the Senior and Arts center including laying Belgium block curb stones, which look more like finished field stone. I then drove down by the waterfront. I next went by the Greenwich Library, and I read the Greenwich Time. I then went by Val's Liquor at the Stop and Shop shopping plaza, and I bought a 10 ounce bottle of Angostura bitters for $8.79 plus .53 tax for $9.32 total. I then went to the Stop and Shop, and I bought a bottle of Gumout concentrated fuel system cleaner for $3.99 plus .24 tax for $4.23 total. I then went by Exxon, and I put the Gumout fuel system cleaner in my Hyundai, and I filled up the tank with .40 of regular unleaded gasoline at $2.359 a gallon for about 30 miles per gallon usage. One is suppose to use the Gumout fuel system cleaner every 3,000 miles. I then returned home. No one retrieved the old Packard Bell computer and 15 inch monitor that I put out by the dumpster that a neighbor had thrown out, and the same neighbor finally threw it in the dumpster. Realistically companies like IBM I was told shred four semi truck loads of computers every week up at the salvage yard in New Haven, Connecticut, and there is a company in Chicago that recycles 300 million old computers every years, so there is not much of a market for used computers that are more than 3 to 5 years old, since maintaining them can be more hassle and expense than they are worth. I put the 25 foot tan coil telephone cord on the AT&T phone on the Danish bar, so it now has a longer cord. I put the 6 foot video cable from the Proscan television in the bedroom to the Sylvania VCR, so the VCR now has enough cable to be centered on the top of the television, and there should be a better signal. I put the 2 foot cable that I took off of it on the bottom of the hallway sweater closet. I chatted with a relative. I was told that a friend of hers named Armstrong whom is an expert in ancient scripts will be appearing on the Discovery Channel in a presentation on the Pillars of Herculaneum. I then started up the primary computer, and the right Iiyama 19 inch monitor did not start. When this happens, which it has not done so in a long time, one has to shut down the computer and turn off the Iiyama monitor, and disconnect the monitor cord at the monitor, and then turn it on, so it comes back on and then reconnect the monitor video cable and then restart with both monitors turned on. Then with my current setup having it as the secondary monitor on boot up, it should start properly, which it did. The Iiyama monitor has signal select, so it has to get the right signal to start up, which I explained in my notes, when I bought it used for $30 at the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop back around February 2004. Well, the system is running just fine. CIO
Note: <888> 06/07/04 Monday 9:15 A.M.: I will now shut down the computer, and I will get up at 1:30 P.M. to get ready for my 4 P.M. appointment. CIO
Note: <888> 06/07/04 Monday 9:10 A.M.: I could not sleep, so I did a little straightening up. I threw out three old quart cans of plum tomatoes and crushed tomatoes, a bottle of Log Cabin pancake syrup, partially used bottles of Heinz red and white vinegar, and a partially used bottle of French's Dijon mustard. I also took the Arm and Hammer baking soda in the freezer and the refrigerator, and I poured some it down the kitchen drain, the bathroom sink drain, and the bath tub drain. I put in new boxes of Arm and Hammer baking sofa in the freezer and the refrigerator. I put the single cup white Salton coffee maker on the lower side left of the bedroom closet. I put the 12 inch Griswold frying pan with glass lid on the top shelf of the lower center kitchen cabinet. I put the coffee filters from the left kitchen shelf on the lower shelf of the left top cabinet. I moved the three thermoses to the right of the Farberware oven on top of the refrigerator. I threw out the accumulated pharmacy plastic pill bottles and Altoid tins. I threw out three old computer cards from the right bottom bedroom desk drawer. I also disconnected the Packard Bell monitor and CPU, and I kept the power cables and mouse and keyboard, and I put the CPU and monitor with the card on top of a small refrigerator to the left side of the dumpster. CIO
Note: <888> 06/07/04 Monday 6:20 A.M.: I ate a large bowl of corn chips and a piece of cheese cake with some iced tea. I will now shut down the computer, and I will go to bed soon. I have a 4 P.M. appointment today. CIO
Note: <888> 06/07/04 Monday 5:45 A.M.: I went through my email. CIO
Note: <888> 06/07/04 Monday 5:10 A.M.: I worked on the old Packard Bell computer. I opened up the case, and it was quite dusty, so I used my miniature vacuum cleaner to clean it out as well as I could. I removed the cards and the case fan in the cleaning process. I also took out the Intel Pentium 70 processor, and I put in a spare Intel Pentium 133 processor that I had. The CMOS still recognizes a Pentium 70 Processor, but the one I put in seems to work a bit faster. The system only has 24 megs of memory. For the LAN card, I installed Micronics Windows 95 drivers. I was able to get it to on line. I tried the installing Internet Explorer 4.0, but its download site no longer works. I tried the Opera browser, but it would not work properly, and I tried another browser that would not install. I finally downloaded Netscape 3.0, and it works just fine on the old Packard Bell computer, so technically it is online. There is a U.S. Robotics modem driver that I need to install. The old Packard Bell computer with Windows 95 shows basically the state of the art of the industry about nine years ago, thus it is more of a museum piece, but it does work. I cleaned the case, and I set it up on the right side of the Maple side table with the 15 inch monitor. I had two powered cords for it, and a Microsoft PS/2 mouse, and a PS/2 keyboard that I took off one of the HP backup computers. I have it shut down for now. However, I could work in the future on configuring it with older programs, however it is so slow compared to my other five backup computers, I do not think I will want to be keeping it. I am not sure what the purpose is of working on it, if I am just going to dump it or give it to another thrift shop other than the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop. However, it does work for web browsing, and it would do word processing, but there are so many more much more powerful computers easily obtained in the surplus used market in this area. CIO
Note: <888> 06/07/04 Monday 1:05 A.M.: I disconnected the Dell backup computer, and I opened up the computer on the maple side table which is a good working area. I put in the Sterling PCI V90 modem that I had taken out of the primary computer, when I installed the second video card. I closed up the case and reconnected it. Windows recognized it plug and play, so there is now an internal modem in the Dell backup computer. CIO
Note: <888> 06/07/04 Monday 12:05 A.M.: For dinner, I had three 1/4 to 3/8 inch thick slices of cold beef eye round roast with Lea and Perrins Worcestershire sauce, steamed fresh broccoli with a little bit of olive oil, reheated rice left over from yesterday, and a glass of iced tea. I used the steamed hot water to clean my tooth brushes. CIO
Note: <888> 06/06/04 Sunday 11:20 P.M.: I ate a two bowls of corn chips with iced tea before going to bed this morning. I was up at 4 P.M.. I chatted with a relative. I had breakfast of oatmeal, toast with strawberry preserves, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I showered and cleaned up. I had a message on my answering machine when I got out of the shower. I went downtown, and I went by CVS, and I picked up a prescription for a $1.50 cost. I then went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue, and I sat out at various locations. I chatted with one local, and he had boxed the winning ticket with two of the three winners in the Belmont yesterday including Birdsong, so on a $2 ticket he got $84. I stopped by CVS during my walk. I then finished my walk, and I drove down by the waterfront. I then went by the Exxon gasoline station next to the Greenwich Library, and I bought $7.50 of regular unleaded gasoline at $2.359 a gallon for about 25 miles per gallon usage. I used my Master Card Bank of New York Debit card to pay for the transaction, but when I pressed Debit it would not work, but the attendant tried it and pressed credit, and it went through. However, when I returned home, the $7.50 debit does not show up on the account, but there is a $1 debit today. I wander what the problem is. I will have to see how it looks tomorrow after transactions are posted. I drank some iced tea. I took the U.S. Robotics Sportster Voice 56 Fax External modem off the Dell backup computer, and I put it on the right top side of my right monitor on the primary computer and plugged it into the serial port. It installed itself plug and play, and is available for use, should the cable modem not work. I then disconnected the serial cable from the serial port, and I plugged in the X10 remote control mouse, and I installed the driver for it, and it works just fine. I left the X10 remote control mouse plugged into the serial port for now. I have the base unit on top of the monitor turned off with the little switch on its right side. I left the X10 remote control mouse on the top of the right monitor to the left of the base unit. One can use the mouse remote control when viewing content on the television monitor. This all took a bit more time to figure out than I have indicated, still the system is just running fine. CIO
Note: <888> 06/06/04 Sunday 7:15 A.M.: I have Windows 95 installed on the Packard Bell computer, but I still have to configure it a bit to get it online. I watched French President Jacque Chirac and Queen Elizabeth II at D-Day ceremonies and the news of Ronald Reagan passing away. I guess we will all have a bit of time to remember him in better times. I will now shut down the computer, and I will go to bed soon. CIO
Note: <888> 06/06/04 Sunday 5:45 A.M.: I have been watching the D-Day ceremonies on television including President Bush's speech. I downloaded from www.seagate.com a low level format program, and I did a quick low level format of the Packard Bell computer Connor C: drive. I then ran Fdisk, and I did not enable large hard disks, but it recognized the full 1.2 gigabyte hard drive. I then formatted the C: drive. Instead of booting the A: drive with the Windows ME boot disk, I booted it with the Windows 98 Boot disk. When I started to install Windows 95, it prompted me there was still a disk caching utility running, but when I prompted it to install anyway, it seems to have continued installing normally, so I am 60% done with the Windows 95 installation. One has to remember in the old days, the older computers were a little bit more complex, so remembering some of the procedures for dealing with installation problems helps with the older computers. Possibly the disk caching that the Windows ME boot disk installs interfered with the normal Windows 95 installation.
Note: <888> 06/06/04 Sunday 1:55 A.M.: I was unable to get Windows 98 to installed on the Packard Bell computer. I went outside briefly. I am now trying to install Windows 95 on it. On both Windows 95 and Windows 98 as I first run setup, I get an error message that I have a compressed disk utility installed. I have run Fdisk and removed and installed the partition, and I have formatted the C: drive. I can ignore the error, but I have a feeling that might be the problem. CIO
Note: <888> 06/06/04 Sunday 12:20 A.M.: Happy D-Day. I put the ice tea in the refrigerator. The Packard Bell computer is 55% through installing Windows 98, and I will put Windows 98 Second Edition on it. I can not put Windows ME on it, since Windows ME needs 32 megs of memory. It also does not have USB ports, but in its day, it did the job. If I have any problems, I will put Windows 95 on it, which was on it when I was given it. I finished going through my email. CIO
Note: <888> 06/05/04 Saturday 11:35 P.M.: I made a $5 contribution to the Ronald Reagan Foundation http://www.reaganfoundation.org/member_contribute/ with my Master Card Bank of New York Debit card. CIO
Note: <888> 06/05/04 Saturday 11:20 P.M.: I ate a piece of cheese cake with some iced tea. CIO
Note: <888> 06/05/04 Saturday 11:00 P.M.: I restarted the installation on the Packard Bell computer, and it has 40 minutes to go. CIO
Note: <888> 06/05/04 Saturday 10:40 P.M.: The old Packard Bell computer seems to be in the process of a long rebooting process in which it configures itself, but the bottom line is still moving, so it has not frozen up. I will just let it do its thing. I am making up a fresh batch of www.geocities.com/mikelscott/icetea.htm . I am still using the five green tea bags in the recipe, until I use them up, and then I will use the Twinings loose leaf green tea. Instead of steeping the tea in the Revere pot that I boil the water in, I am using a Rubbermaid Cake holder which has a large plastic lid to put the water in and steep the tea, with the cake container base for the cover. Thus hopefully the tea will have less of a metallic taste. CIO
Note: <888> 06/05/04 Saturday 9:40 P.M.: I took the beef eye round roast that I bought last night at the Food Emporium for $3.99 a pound that weighs a little bit over three pounds, and I seasoned it on all sides with Old Bay Seasoning, garlic powder, chicken and meat seasoning, ground black pepper, celery salt, Italian seasoning, Basil, Oregano, and Texas Best Mesquite barbeque sauce, and I am cooking it on the roasting rack in the roasting pan in the Farberware convection oven at 335 degrees Fahrenheit for 45 minutes. I am also making up a batch of rice in the China Village rice steamer. I rinsed a cup of Carolina rice in hot water in a metal bowl, and I then strained it in a wire strainer underneath hot water, and I put the rice in the China Village rice steamer with 14 ounces of water along with two tablespoons of olive oil and a teaspoon of sesame oil, and I put the inner and outer tops on it, and I will microwave it in the General Electric microwave oven for 11 minutes, and let it stand for five minutes. I will eat three 1/4 inch thick slices of the beef with the juices along with half of the rice and steamed fresh broccoli along with iced tea. I will put a little bit of olive oil on the broccoli. I will refrigerate the remaining beef in a Rubbermaid container along with the rice in another Rubbermaid container. It should all be done in about 7 minutes. CIO
Note: <888> 06/05/04 Saturday 8:30 P.M.: Since the older Packard Bell computer is a slower Pentium 90 processor probably with only 24 megs of memory and a 4X CD player, the installation is slower about 25% complete, but it seems to installing just fine. CIO
Note: <888> 06/05/04 Saturday 8:15 P.M.: I retrieved the 15 inch monitor from the dumpster, and I will check it later to see if it works. It is missing its stand. CIO
Note: <888> 06/05/04 Saturday 7:55 P.M.: A relative called, and I watched the Belmont Stakes http://www.nyra.com/belmont/ . Birdstone won SI.com - More Sports - Birdstone nips Smarty Jones at Belmont - Saturday June 5, 2004 7:19PM , and I had told several people to bet on it in the Kentucky Derby. The owner Marylou Whitney is a friend of a friend of mine that works around horses for www.nyra.com and Nick Zito is one of the best trainers. Birdstone paid $74 to win $14 to place and $8.60 to show http://newdata.drf.com/results/05/rBEL05.html?rn=695331 , so it must have been a good day at the races for some of Marylou's friends. I chatted with my relative again. I am installing Windows 98 Second Edition on the older Packard Bell Pentium 90 computer. It seems to be installing and running just fine. I will then configure it with some other programs. I have historically called this "Computer Dumpster Therapy". I do not know whether I will keep, it or pass it on to another thrift shop that takes lesser merchandise than the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop. I did not take the 15 inch monitor that came with it out of the dumpster, but I suppose I could, but I have no place to put it anyway, and I do not feel like climbing in the dumpster, but maybe later I will think about it. I guess I could use a broom to pull it over the edge of the dumpster and salvage it, but more than likely no one would want it anyway. There are suppose to be showers through out the evening, so I will not be going out. CIO
Note: <888> 06/05/04 Saturday 6:15 P.M.: We are truly saddened to hear about Ronald Reagan passing away today https://www.ronaldreaganmemorial.com/ . I chatted with a friend before going to bed this morning. I ate two bowls of corn chips. I chatted with a friend before going to bed this morning. I was up at 4 P.M. this afternoon. My shipment of 7 cartons of Seneca Ultra Light 100s cigarettes arrived from http://www.smokemcheapcigarettes.com/ . I ate a bowl of oatmeal, toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. One of my neighbors was throwing out an older Packard Bell Pentium 90 computer with 24 of memory and 1.2 gigabyte hard drive. I have it set up to reconfigure. It seems to work just fine, but it would be a bit slow compared to the newer systems. CIO
End of Scott's Notes week of 06/05/04:
Note: <888> 06/05/04 Saturday 5:10 A.M.: I actually keep the hospitality bar set up in case any relatives ever visit with friends, and since that might happen also during the colder weather when they might be visiting from warmer climates, which is why I call it Red Cross Emergency Supplies, and since a couple of relatives are qualified nurses, if they showed up, they would know how to display and serve the various supplies from the Red Cross Emergency supplies hopefully without the 8 year old olives and cocktail onions, but who knows they might has a little extra kick to a martini. I once read that when former President Bush was Ronald Reagan's Vice President, he climbed over the wall separating the Vice President's house the former house for the Chief of Navy Operations restored by former Vice President Nelson Rockefeller, and the then Vice President Bush offered the British ambassador next door a martini. Of course that was during times of peace, so I would imagine that during times of war the politicians do not drink as much as they once historically did. However, at the moment since the President of the United States of America is out of the country on an overseas trip, I would imagine the Vice President is in charge while he is away which is usually standard procedure. There are suppose to be a great many dignitaries at the D Day ceremonies on June 6 at Normandy, France including Queen Elizabeth II, so I would imagine it would be a high protocol event. I will now send out my weekly notes, and then I will shut down the computer, and I will go to bed shortly there after. CIO

Note: <888> 06/05/04 Saturday 4:10 A.M.: My mouse just stopped twice, and I had to reboot twice. I am using the computer without the cable modem turned on to see if it is a hacker, which is highly unlikely. I originally purchased the liquor on December 16, 1997 and set up the bar. At Var Max Liquor pantry just west of me in Port Chester, New York on U.S. 1, I paid $36 for 1.75 liters of Dewars Scotch, $18.50 for 1.75 liters of Smirnoff Vodka, $17 for 1 liter of Canadian Club, $18 for 1 liter of Jack Daniels with two Jack Daniels glasses, 1 liter of Mount Gay Rum for $18, 1 liter of Gordon's Gin for $13, one 12 ounce bottle of Noilly Prat dry vermouth $4, 1 liter of Moet and Chandon White champagne for $24, and that is when I bought the mixers and some wine, so at the time I spent $162 on liquor and $40 for mixers, additives, and bar accessories. I changed the mouse to channel 2 from channel 1, so maybe a hacker is trying to interfere with my note. However, since I have three firewalls, including the Windows XP firewall, the Norton Internet Security 2004 firewall, and the Seimen's router firewall, it would seem unlikely. The mouse software says the battery and signal are fine. It sort of makes me wander whom could be hacking me, and it also reminds me that this time of year when kids start to get out of school, there are frequently hackers. However, if the system if being hacked, it shows a certain level of sophistication to get through three firewalls, and it might be caused by the resources being used up opening the large Microsoft file to search my old logs. I will turn on the cable modem shortly to post this note and see if it continues to happen. CIO
Note: <888> 06/05/04 Saturday 3:15 A.M.: I searched my notes, and I originally purchased the bar items and liquors on December 16, 1997, so they are seven and a half years old, but I am not sure how well liquor ages in glass bottles, but they have generally been keep around 70 to 72 degrees Fahrenheit out of the sun light. The champagne might be expensive vinegar for all I know. Of course some of the items were purchased more recently. However, if I had invested the same money in computers or computer parts or software 7.5 years ago, they would not be worth very much. Of course if a bunch of pirates broke into my apartment, I would be out my investment, but pirates generally have ample supplies of rum. CIO
Note: <888> 06/05/04 Saturday 2:45 A.M.: I just unlocked the bar, and it is all still there. I also have a .25 liter bottle of Noilly Prat Vermouth, 25% remaining of a .750 liter bottle of Mr. Boston Peppermint Schnapps that someone left in the laundry room one morning, a small two ounce jar of cocktail onions, a small four ounce bottle of cocktail olives, two 1.5 liter bottles of Rene Junot white wine plus the other unopened one in the refrigerator, a 1.5 liter bottle of Bellejour Curvee Blanc, a .750 liter bottle of 1998 Les Jamelles Merlot, a .750 liter bottle of 1998 Domaine Chiroulet white Gascony wine, .750 liter bottle of Martinelli's Sparkling Cider, and a .750 liter bottle of Koem Sparkling grape juice at the bedroom entrance side shelf. The latter two I bought two to three years ago. Plus on the same side rack, I still have the 12 bottles of Kennebunkport Ship Yard Ale variety collection two years old, and refrigerated the first year, and on the Danish bar with the bar tender supplies and glassware, I also have a box of 8 packets of Bar-Tender's whisky sour mix. I also have two quart bottles of lemon juice, two 48 ounce cans of Stop and Shop tomato juice, Lea and Perrins Worcestershire sauce, horse radish, and about three ounces of Angostura bitters left. I just locked up the bar again. I also have a .750 liter bottle of Moet and Chandon champaign that I bought five years ago, when I set up the bar that has been refrigerated the first two years, left standing one year, and refrigerated the last two years. Of course it might have been more than five years ago that I set up the bar, I can not remember precisely now, but it would probably be in my logs. Of course the bar onions and olives might not still be good, but I have fresh onions and canned olives, and whatever the case, it is all still ready in reserve. CIO
Note: <888> 06/05/04 Saturday 2:05 A.M.: I just searched this http://www.totse.com/en/politics/political_spew/timeline.html , and the Charter of Virginia was signed in 1606, but what I was trying to remember is a different event, possibly a volcanic event or event around a volcanic area. In my left kitchen counter drawer, I had two metal tea balls on one chain and a single tea ball on a chain with a holder, and I put them on the rack behind the tea pots. I unsealed the Twinings green tea, but I did not break the inner seal, and I put it between the two tea pots on the shelf directly above the kitchen sink. I took the Lindener Spezial Hanover German beer six pack that I bought about three years ago out of the lower drawer of the refrigerator, and I put it on the lower right shelf. I also took out about four of the ten bottles of the St. Pauli dark German beer that I bought two years ago from the same lower drawer, and I put them on the refrigerator side door. In the lower drawer, I also had a mixture of about 16 cans of Diet Coke, Diet Sprite, A&W root beer, and seltzer cans that I removed with the remaining St. Pauli dark beer, and I put in from underneath my sofa a 12 pack of Barq's root beer, and about six Diet Cokes, and six Diet Sprites, and then I returned the other items on top of the new items. The soda was bought about 10 months ago, as I recall. The German beer has been refrigerated since I bought it. I do not normally drink alcohol, except for using a little Rene Junot white wine in my cooking, but I keep it around for entertainment purposes. I frequently joke of all the different items that I have bought over the years, the only thing that has gone up in price that I still have is the alcohol. The alcohol contents of the bar which are securely locked up were purchased by me over time and mostly about five years ago, when a relative from down south was suppose to visit in the winter, so I used Christmas gift money that Christmas to set up a bar, which quite frankly has never been used except for a small amount of Vodka on cold nights, a little white wine for cooking, and occasionally Mount Gay Rum for tropical fruit salad flavoring, or a little bit of Jack Daniels for flavoring sautéed boneless center cut pork chops, which I decided was a little extravagant, so I have about 40% of the .750 liter bottle of Jack Daniels left, along with mostly fully stocked other basic bar items. I also replenished the 1.5 liter bottle of Smirnoff last fall along with the remaining bottle about 50% of a 1.5 liter bottle, and I had to buy a new .750 liter bottle of Gordon's Gin about two years ago, when two house guests drank a whole bottle of Gordon Gin unknown to me, and I think I also have a 1.5 liter bottle of Mount Gay rum plus a couple of ounces remaining in another bottle. I also have a .750 liter bottle of Canadian Club from the original purchase, and a 1.5 liter bottle of Dewar's Scotch, a .750 liter bottle of Kailua, and a bottle of Gilbey's mixer and about a dozen plastic liter bottles of Schweppes tonic water, Canada Dry Club soda, Canada Dry Ginger Ale, and Canada Dry Club Sofa, and possibly Seltzer water, plus the old seltzer bottles are full with about three year old hurricane water, and I recall about 18 .750 liter bottles of Perrier. The plastic soda mixer bottle have collapsed inward for some reason after five years, so I do not know if they still have their carbonation or not. I have three month old ice in the refrigerator. Thus the apartment does have entertainment facilities, but it is so crowded in the apartment with furniture, it might be awkward for a large crowd. I think I also have three or four bottles of wine, but at the moment, the bar is securely locked up, and I do not feel like going through the effort to investigate more. There is also glassware in the bar along with the glassware on display in the apartment. CIO
Note: <888> 06/05/04 Saturday 12:55 A.M.: I went out after the last message. I chatted with a neighbor. I went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue including the train station. I sat out at various locations. I noticed someone with an Adidas http://www.adidas.com/ sweat shirt, and I mentioned that there is a very large Adidas warehouse up on the north side of Toronto next to York University where the Scott Library is and also the Adidas warehouse is next to a Royal Canadian Air Force base http://www.airforce.forces.ca/ , which is probably a colder area of the world. I use to wear Adidas Country sneakers for many years, until they became unavailable. I now have lots of shoes, but mostly for exercise walking I wear Reebok walking shoes http://www.reebok.com/defaultPage.asp , but I still have Adidas, Nike www.nike.com , Prince and other types of old sneakers including U.S. Rubber or Uniroyal http://www.uniroyal.com/ canvas deck shoes. I complete my walk. It seems more younger people are about, so possibly they are beginning to get out of school. I next drove down by the waterfront, and the fisherman told me the fishing was not any good. I suppose it is still too cold for the Blues to be running, since it is cooler this spring. I next went by the Food Emporium, and the usual night staff are there. I used my Master Card Bank of New York debit card, and I bought four 26 ounce jars of America's Choice tomato marinara sauce for $1.69 each, a head of Foxy broccoli for $2.50, a eye round beef roast for $3.99 a pound for $12.45, and a 100 gram or 3.53 ounce tin of Twinings Loose Leaf Gunpowder Green Tea for $5.69 for $27.40 total. I then returned home, and I put away my purchases. I will now drink some iced tea. It says on the Twinings tin that it was established in 1706, so they will be having their 300th anniversary in 2 years. I read the other day about some other event that will be having their 400th anniversary in 2 years, but I can not remember now what happened in 1606, but I suppose it will come back to me. CIO
Note: <888> 06/04/04 Friday 8:55 P.M.: I finished my house cleaning and watering the plants. I heard on the FM stereo 106.7 FM, which I listened to with my wireless headphones that it is suppose to rain the next two days, but this evening is clear. I will put the computer on standby. I will now throw out the garbage, and I will go downtown. CIO
Note: <888> 06/04/04 Friday 6:20 P.M.: I am microwaving a 16 ounce Maria Callender chicken pot pie which I will eat with a glass of iced tea before doing my house cleaning. I will vacuum first, so I will not disturb my neighbors later on while doing house cleaning. CIO
Note: <888> 06/04/04 Friday 6:05 P.M.: I was up at noon. I had breakfast of oatmeal, toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee. I cleaned up, and I went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop. I bought for $10 with my Master Card debit card a like new and clean twin size waterproof and anti-bacterial form fitted mattress pad. It came in packaging for a Lady Jane Churchill quilted throw. I next went by the Greenwich Hospital out patient clinic, and I had the follow up for my physical. I need to get my blood checked for cholesterol this October, and everything else is fine, but I should try to quit smoking. I then went by Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street. I next went by CVS, and I dropped of my prescription for Lipitor. I next went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought a 8 ounce bar of Cabot's 50% less fat Vermont sharp white cheddar cheese for $1.99 and a 10 ounce bag of fresh spinach for $1.99 for $3.98 total. I then went by the Arnold Bread outlet, and I bought two 5.5 ounce boxes of Arnold large cut garlic and herb croutons for .99 each and a Entenmann's Deluxe French cheese cake for $1.89 for $3.87 total. I guess I am looking younger in the summer, because they did not give my 10% senior discount the last two times. I then returned home. I moved out the maple side table and the blue sofa out, and I stripped the day bed. I put the new twin size mattress pad on it which fits just fine which is a heavy duty form fitted mattress pad, and it came with a smaller secondary mattress pad, which I put on top of the primary mattress pad. They appeared to be either unused or recently washed since they were clean. I then remade the day bed, and I put the blue sofa and maple side table back into position. I guess if I had a guest, I could pull out the blue sofa a bit for them to use the day bed. However, the day bed might be going up to a relative's house in Kennebunkport, Maine this summer. The sheets on the day bed have been used once since they were cleaned by one guest whom I do not think has fleas. I put $15 more on my Mac Gray laundry card, so I now have $21.15 on it. I made out a check and put it in an envelope to pay my Verizon telephone bill. I drank some iced tea. I will now do my house cleaning and watering the plants. I will put the mattress pad packaging on the shelf in the bedroom closet. CIO

Note: <888> 06/04/04 Friday 1:35 A.M.: I always wandered if anyone reading my web log as ever kicked back and enjoyed Lanzarote http://www.lanzarote.com/ after all the years I have talked about it since I visited there in February 1972. It seems to have gotten built up a bit. Raquel Welch made the movie "A Million Year B.C." there, and there use to be a picture of Raquel Welch in the bar "Fat Tuesdays" in New Canaan, Connecticut, so there is a local connection in this area to Lanzarote. Whatever, the case I have never actually met anyone else whom has been there. However, one can listen to the sound of Lanzarote at http://www.powerfmradio.com/listen.htm . I guess one could go there and fast to lose weight and disco for exercise, and maybe one might come back a little bit healthier. However, if anything went wrong, one is way out there in the middle of the Atlantic wandering whom else might be there. Originally after the first week of visiting Lanzarote in February 1972, I met Rhone Dietrin. He was very amusing, and besides speaking Norwegian and Spanish, he also spoke English in case one liked chatting in English instead of broken French with the Spanish. CIO

Note: <888> 06/03/04 Thursday 7:35 P.M.: I put away the laundry. I chatted with a neighbor in the laundry room whose telephone modem does not work on his Compaq computer for AOL. The neighbor dropped the Cablevision Cable Modem. He told me with basic cable television service for $12 a month, he gets 97 channels, which is about what I get for $52 a month. He said it costs cablevision too much money to provide less channels. Maybe, I should think about changing my Optimum Online television package to the basic service, since I hardly ever watch it anyway. I opened up my freshly made bed in the bedroom, and I took off the mattress pad and the orange bed spread, and I am now washing each in a separate machine, and I have 15 minutes to go on the wash cycle. They both can be dried in the dryer. I also flipped the mattress over, and I rotated it top to bottom, which one should do every six months.

I then returned home, and I had my grocery cart in the back of the car that I brought down with me when I went out, and I used it to bring up my groceries. I then put away my groceries. I then went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop, and I bought two Microsoft PS/2 mice for a dollar each and two 11 watt Philips frosted sign lamp bulbs for .50 each for $3 total. I then went downtown, and I mailed a letter at the central Greenwich Post Office. I did not walk, since it looked like it was going to rain. I then went to the Greenwich Library, and I read the Greenwich Time. I chatted with a couple of reference librarians. I used a library internet terminal, and I looked at http://www.erh.noaa.gov/er/okx/ , and the satellite photo indicated there was a weather front coming in, so I chatted some more with the reference librarian. I would imagine with the large Asian community in this area that one could buy whole green tea instead of the fragmented green tea in green tea bags. Also I guess after I boil the water in the Revere Pot, I could steep the tea in my hard rubber Rubbermaid cake holder upside down in the lid, which would hold the five quarts of boiling water and the tea. I guess, I also could increase the amount of green tea that I use. However, I will first have to use up the Salada green tea that I have in reserve. I use the other teas because I think the other teas have certain benefits too. Whatever, the case I will have to think about it. It is $20 for each day or $30 for both days, and they are suppose to have the most impressive collection of vintage automobiles on the East Coast of the United States of America comparable to the Pebble Beach, California Concours d'Elegance http://www.pebblebeachconcours.net/ . They sometimes have vintage boats too. Alas, I will no longer be circling the Greenwich Show in my vintage 1976 Volvo 240, which I had towed to Le Blancs junking in Norwalk, Connecticut back around September 1, 2002, when its spring mount collapsed on the right front side, but my current 1999 black Hyundai Accent Hatchback has been running just fine, and it only has 40,000 miles on it. Back around April 1971, my family returned for our second vacation at the Mount Irvine Club in Tabago, and we rented Billy Fraser's house on the ocean by the club. Billy Fraser was Lord Strathalmond Times Online - Industry sectors , and he had a very nice house that he rented to us next to Mr. Colin whom was the Chairman of the Board of British Petroleum www.bp.com , and I always wandered if they had anything to do with http://www.fraseryachts.com/ , but the first Lord Strathalmond was suppose to have been Prime Minister of New Zealand http://www.fraserchief.co.uk/twochiefs.html , and I recall the chief engineer building the Mount Irvine Club back in the early 1970s was from Australia, and he was always worried about going native. The local colonial British residents the Bishop family had a sugar cane and palm tree plantation with a sugar mill that they lived in, and they rented us in the winter of 1970 a modest house across the road form the beach on the east side of the island opposite the west side of the island where the more private Mount Irvine Club was. CIONote: <888> 06/01/04 Tuesday 10:45 P.M.: I made up a grocery shopping list for when my Food Stamps allocation becomes available this Thursday on the third of the month. I generally stock up on repetitively purchased items at the first of the month. CIO
Note: <888> 06/01/04 Tuesday 10:25 P.M.: For those of you whom are short of time www.peapod.com delivers your groceries from Stop and Shop. Also if you have been using a Stop and Shop card for a while, the Stop and Shop card number can be entered into one's Peapod site, and one gets a list of items that one has regularly bought. Apparently the cost of food is going up. If one gets Food Stamps like I do, one can also use them at Wal-Mart in Norwalk, Connecticut for extra savings, providing one can afford to go up there and deal with the traffic getting there. CIO

Note: <888> 06/01/04 Tuesday 5:50 P.M.: I went out after the last message. I went by Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street. I then went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop, and I bought two 2 foot by 2 foot heavy dark green pillows for $3 each for $6 total. I then went downtown to the Central Greenwich Post Office, and I obtained a money order at .90 cost to pay my GEICO automobile insurance. I also bought 20 U.S.A. flag stamps for .37 each for $7.40. I mailed my payments for GEICO, AT&T, Cablevision, and Optimum Online. I then walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue, and I sat out at various locations. During my walk, I stopped by the Greenwich Hardware store, and they have new items on their 70% off rack. I also stopped by CVS, and I bought two one liter bottles of CVS yellow mouthwash for $2.50 each plus .30 tax for $5.30 total. I then completed my walk, and I used the bathroom at the Senior and Arts center. I then drove down by the waterfront, and the two most regular fishermen were there. I chatted briefly with a couple from Spain, and I warned them about the impending bad weather. I then returned home. I put the two dark green pillows on either end of the blue sofa. I move the one large olive green floral pillow and the two orange pillows to the day bed. I drank some iced tea. NOAA weather radio is going off with warnings for
Weather Hazards for Northern Westchester County, NY , which probably includes our area, although there is no alert for our area yet. Westchester since it is the neighboring county to the west frequently gets the alert before we do. CIONote: <888> 06/01/04 Tuesday 2:00 P.M.: After I cleaned up, I picked up my mail. I will now shut down the computer, and I will go to bed soon. CIO
