<888> 04/29/14 Tuesday 4:35 P.M.  I chatted with a relative.  In the old days up to over 20 years ago, when I could afford to drive over to White Plains, New York at night and network with a few other people, I met some other computer people which I have never seen in Greenwich.  I guess in White Plains, New York; they are afraid to cross the border over into Connecticut.  Since gasoline is so expensive http://util.automobilemag.com/31/connecticut/fairfield/greenwich/gas_prices.html , I can not afford to drive to other nearby communities to see what they are doing in terms of business and computers.  When I used visit Irvington, Dobbs Ferry, Tarrytown, and North Tarrytown, New York, I saw a few people whom might have money and know something about technology, but I never see any of them over here in the southwest corner of Connecticut.  I guess they all network in Manhattan.  Of course being away from Long Island sound that area is colder in the winter and hotter in the summer.  I think a lot of people in that area also vacation in the Hamptons which is very expensive.  I will now shower and clean up.  CIO

<888> 04/22/14 Tuesday 9:35 P.M.   Having lived in abject poverty most of my life, I have always been subservient and deferential to the wealthy people around me, which from my viewpoint is not the way a true democracy should be.  However, without having been able to gain a high income job in my youth, I have experience in volunteering in my simple activities based on my own experiences as opposed to the more affluent neighbors that I have surrounding me.  I guess, once people become affluent other than their relatives, they tend to tune out the masses of the underprivileged individuals in our area.  Although I go out in public frequently and try to project a presentable appearance, I am not able to do those activities better financed individuals might happen to pursue.  I guess the internet being my own outlet based on my experience is what I do.  I am fortunate to live in an affluent community where I can take advantage of certain services that other communities might not have.  Still computers and the internet over the years have been a major expense out of my budget, but it keeps me busy.  Also since I am able to work on the computers at home, I do not have to spend as much time moving around in circles in the general public.  Still I have become somewhat professional with personal computers and the internet, but at my age with my disability there is no interest in my expertise in this area.  However, having lived in this area most of my life, I do not intend to ever change my current living situation or to relocate out of this area.  The number of times I have left this area for other areas has mostly ended up in failure.  CIO

<888> 04/20/14 Sunday 2:05 P.M.  I recall during a number of times I was down south below the Mason Dixon line all the way down in Key West, Florida; the locals whom were in charge would take 80 gallon oil drums and cut them in half lengthwise and weld cross braced legs of iron pipes on to them, and then they would use them for barbecue.  They would fill them up with charcoal and put heavy metal grills on them, and they would have three or four of them, and they would barbecue halves of chickens with lots of southern barbecue sauce on the chickens.  Hundreds of the locals would show up, and eat halves of barbecue chicken along with potato salad and cold slaw and ample beverages for a charge of $3.  However, since I did not have $3, I was left observing the entire operation and starving after they all left.  So much for Southern Hospitality.  They did not have corn on the cob, since it was during the winter.  CIO

End of Scott's Notes week of 04/19/14

<888> 04/19/14 Saturday 9:55 P.M.  I chatted with a relative twice.  On the Saturday before Easter in 1972, I took a train from Florence, Italy to Rome, Italy, and since I had a 7 A.M. TWA flight from Leonardo De Vinci Airport in Rome on Easter Sunday to Athens, Greece; I did not feel like paying for a hotel room that Saturday night.  I wandered around downtown Rome, and I found a dark area with a large colonnade, so I hung out there all night.  There were women coming and going from the colonnade in taxis.  It was a short walk to the Spanish steps where there was quite a bit of activity.  The Colonnade was not lit up at night and it was completely deserted and mostly dark, so I figured it was some old office complex.  I only recently figured out that it was Vatican Square, and that was when http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pope_Paul_VI was Pope.  Back in that period, there was not a lot of traffic in Rome as I recalled, but there were not many people around either.  Thus I never saw Rome in the daytime or the Vatican for that matter except for Leonardo De Vinci airport at sunrise.  I will now send out my weekly notes.   I will then go to bed.  Tomorrow is Easter, so have a Happy Easter, but in the Orthodox church Easter is also tomorrow which is not always the case.  CIO

<888> 04/19/14 Saturday 5:50 P.M.   I reheated and ate the chicken dinner with Smart Balance Spread and extra virgin olive oil on the mashed potatoes, and I drank a 12 ounce glass of Canada Dry Ginger Ale.  I threw out the garbage.  I sat out for a while chatting with a neighbor.   I sorted through the old magazines in the magazine rack along side the left side of the Ethan Allen recliner, and I threw out the old magazines.  Since I have lived in Greenwich, Connecticut; since 1962, I have been around the www.time.com magazine people for  a long time.  Also one of my best friends in the area from www.lfc.edu had an aunt who started and owned http://www.newsweek.com/ and a few times we have encountered the www.forbes.com family in the New York City area.  Of course in Lake Forest, Illinois, the owner of http://www.rrdonnelley.com/ lived in Lake Forest, Illinois; and was also the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, when I went to www.lfc.edu .  The library at Lake Forest College had a lot of magazines to read, if anyone was interested.  Also Alexander Graham Bell's family lived in Lake Forest, Illinois; and they married into the National Geographic www.nationalgeographic.com   family which keeps tracks of lots of families http://shop.nationalgeographic.com/ngs/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=2001246&gsk&code=SR90002&keyword=genealogy+dna+testing+national+geographic&OVMTC=b&OVKEY=genealogy%20dna%20testing%20national%20geographic&timestamp={msimpts}&url_id=188902917&creative=3856043089&url_id=188902913&adcid=9412367   CIO

<888> 04/19/14 Saturday 3:40 P.M.  I threw out the garbage.   I went downtown to Greenwich Avenue.  I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.  I chatted with a number of local people.  I used the bathroom at Starbucks.  I stopped by the Verizon store, and I told them about the Nokia 520 GoPhone for $60 at Amazon.  I played an Ace's High scratch card at Zen Stationary for a dollar, and I won $4 for $3 profit.  I stopped by the men's department at Ralph Lauren.  I toured CVS.  I chatted with somebody with a pit bull.  After my walk, I sat out some more enjoying the day.   I then went by the Stop and Shop.  I bought two 18 ounce Stouffer's meat lasagnas for $3 each, a 59 ounce container of Simply Orange orange juice with pulp for $3 and a package of four day old muffins for $2 for $11 total.  I then returned home, and I put away my groceries.  CIO

<888> 04/13/14 Sunday 11:55 A.M.  I chatted with a local security officer about the Fred Von Mierers report.  I have heard so many different stories on Fred, but I do know he had a lot of German speaking friends, and the New York City German Consulate to the United Nations is now at First Avenue and 49th Street.  Whether or not he was involved in aviation is opened to debate, but the Barclay Hotel on East 49th Street used to put up a lot of flight crews in that area.  Flight personnel and other well traveled individuals including Pan American Airlines used to maintain hospitality places for travelers, so possibly he was involved in that aspect of aviation.  Pan Am Special Services which was like the State Department for Pan Am used to deal with their clients.  When Pan Am went out of business, Pan Am Special Services was sold to Johnson Controls which once and may still maintain offices nearby at Westchester County airport on King Street to the west of Northwest Greenwich, Connecticut.  Possibly since Nelson Rockefeller is no longer vice president, the government quit using their services which he might have been used to.  Of course the Harriman family were also involved with Pan Am, so possibly they keep some sort of pied a terra in Manhattan for their railroad friends.  CIO

<888> 04/13/14 Sunday 11:25 A.M. http://slickdeals.net/permadeal/118214/staples---omnitech-12-sheet-cross-cut-shredder for $11.29 with free shipping after coupon code "55108"  .  However, the item is sold out.  I have a 10 sheet one that I bought a few months ago on sale for $25, but it does not work very well, if at all.  I should have returned it, but I had thrown out the box, before I noticed it did not work well.  I still have my older one that does work well enough, if one presses down on the top part of the unit.  I chatted with two relatives again.  CIO

<888> 04/13/14 Sunday 10:45 A.M.  I called up and wished a Dutch American relative a Most Happy Birthday.  In the old days Chinese Snow Peas went well with Florida shrimp http://singletonseafood.com/ and http://allrecipes.com/recipe/stir-fried-shrimp-with-snow-peas-and-ginger/ and rice from https://www.middletonplace.org/ .  They use to sell a package of frozen Chinese snow peas for $1.29 that took only two minutes to steam, so they were also good for sautéing with fresh shrimp which takes about three minutes.  CIO

<888> 04/13/14 Sunday 9:50 A.M.  It says here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_IBM the Bundy company was involved in the formation of www.ibm.com .  I do not know if they are related to this Bundy family http://www.prisonplanet.com/historic-feds-forced-to-surrender-to-american-citizens.html or not.  CIO

<888> 04/13/14 Sunday 9:35 A.M.  This web cam http://www.cnyclive.com/ at Sixth Avenue and 14th Street in Manhattan is about two blocks east of the www.apple.com computer on the northeast side of Greenwich Village where all the high tech computer gurus must network these days.  There were always computer people in the Chelsea area of Manhattan, but from what I know in having not been in that neighborhood in over 20 years, it probably has changed, but it still would be a student area for www.nyu.edu .  I just saw a couple open air buses drive by on the web cam.  They are building the new http://whitney.org/ on the Hudson River in that area, so I guess the area is becoming more upscale.  Of course http://theoldhomesteadsteakhouse.com/ has always been in that area, if one can afford Manhattan prices for a most excellent cut of beef, if you get my drift.  I never knew anyone in Manhattan who offered to take me to dinner there, so I was pretty much left to Eggs Florentine and omelets with English muffins and coffee, and I remember.  David's Pot Belly on Christopher street just west of 7th Avenue had the omelets for $2 with English muffin and coffee and on Greenwich Street at Charles Street was the coffee shop with Eggs Florentine for about $2 with English muffin and coffee.  Florentine means with Spinach.  Of course in those days, the Rivera Cafe and the Buffalo Road House in that neighborhood north and south of Christopher Street on Seventh Avenue had bacon and blue cheese hamburgers with lettuce and tomato and kosher dill pickle and home fries for $2.95 and a drink would be about a dollar more, so with a dollar tip, it was about a five dollar meal, if one could afford that much.  The Front Porch vegetarian restaurant nearby served cream cheese and sprouts on homemade bread for about $2.  The best deal for a meal in Greenwich Village was the Greek Souvlaki stand on the west side University Place just north of 13th street, and I recall a lamb Souvlaki with the trimmings was about $1.29.  The nearby www.forbes.com building looks like a fortress, so nobody ever bothers them.  However, the http://www.newschool.edu/parsons/ is nearby for the creative types.  Of course in that same period at 9th Street and Sixth Avenue, a big red MacIntosh apple at http://www.balduccis.com/ next to the http://www.sephardicstudies.org/csi11.html cost a dollar.  CIO

<888> 04/13/14 Sunday 8:40 A.M.  I took the wire rack out of the Faberware Turbo convection oven, and I preheated the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit about five minutes.  While doing that I unwrapped the 14.06 ounce Greenway four cheese frozen pizza made in Italy, and I put it on the wire rack, and I seasoned it with celery salt, ground black pepper, garlic salt, Italian seasoning, a generous portion of grated Parmesan and Romano cheese, and extra virgin Italian olive oil over it all.  I then put the pizza on the rack in the Farberware Turbo convection oven on the center rack position for ten minutes.  After ten minutes, I used pot holders to take out the hot rack with pizza, and I put it on a wooden cutting board, so it would not burn the Formica counter top.  I then used a spatula to slide the pizza on to a dinner plate.  I ate it with a knife and fork along with a 12 ounce glass of Canada Dry Ale.  CIO

<888> 04/13/14 Sunday 7:25 A.M.  Beef prices reach highest level since 1987  .  They tell me horse meat tastes pretty good, but George might object.  Back in the old days of the American Colonies, they used to Shang Hai sailors, and eat them at sea, when the food provisions ran out.  CIO

<888> 04/13/14 Sunday 7:15 A.M.  Note on Obama from local peace activist:

I can't believe that the young inexperienced Man(?) from Chicago is still in the White House.  It is documented that he got "C"s in Graduate School at Columbia University. The Mother that I met whose Son was in the same Class as Obama told me that her Son got an "A" while President Obama got a "C".  I asked her why? and she told me that Obama never attended Classes and never did the Assignments.  He should have gotten an "L" for Lazy.

End of Note:

Additional Note from Mike Scott: While at www.lfc.edu , I was a A to F student depending on the course, and I frequently did not attend class, but I was always in the library reading my course books, when I was not working one of many part time jobs to pay for my expenses.

Update on Fred Von Mierers April 13, 2014:

I contacted someone who claims to have worked for Frederick -- I thought you might find this response fascinating, one way or another:

"Hi Mike, Yes I use to work for Frederick many years ago. Fred was my officer at area 51 and send me out to collect Gemstones so he could consume them for special ability such as remote viewing. Also Fred had a little trouble with the American F.B.I. Director and Fred took pictures of him in a blue dress wearing. Well the last time I saw Fred he got back on the California drone ( spacecraft ) and may have went to Venus. Fred is a member of the German youth SS and I would not be allowed to release his picture without Fred knowing in advance...........Eternal Values.....I was once with as member.12th German army was my unite before fall of Berlin."

Also, do you have any photos of Frederick, or of his apartment that you would be willing to share?

<888> 04/13/14 Sunday 5:30 A.M.  I chatted about business with the http://casamarinaresort.com/ .  On a minor point of interest that most people do not seem to know, the http://www.nps.gov/cana/index.htm is private British property owned by the http://www.grosvenor.com/home/ family of England http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duke_of_Westminster .  Since a British ambassador to the United States of America can live anywhere in the United States of America, maybe he should live on the Grosvenor property in Florida.  We all know the British are sun starved living in their cold damp foggy environment.  However, when I toured the property just south of New Smyrna, Florida during the winter of 1979 with John Bolton, it is totally undeveloped, and looks like Florida did, when the Spanish first arrived there five hundred years ago.  However, it is very dangerous with lots of shark fins out on the ocean side and probably big gators on the Inland waterway side.  CIO

<888> 04/13/14 Sunday 3:40 A.M.  Of course, if you are really interested in the history of New York City, one might try http://www.nypl.org/ or http://www.mcny.org/ .  Of course the new money in New Amsterdam are never interested in the old world Dutch perspective http://www.indiahouseclub.org/ or http://www.trinitywallstreet.org/content/st-pauls-chapel or http://www.aasrvalleyofnewyorkcity.com/ .  When I was six feet tall and 125 pounds, when I was living in Manhattan in my younger years, I noticed some larger people; but they never paid much attention to me, but possibly some of my younger friends grew up a bit.  CIO

<888> 04/12/14 Saturday 8:55 A.M.  I threw out the garbage.  I went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.   I saw a couple of vehicles that have arrived up north from Florida.  At the north side of the People's Bank at the bottom of Greenwich Avenue, they are putting in a Tropical Drink store, and they are looking for help.  The new Restoration Hardware store project at the former Greenwich Post Office is coming along just fine.  They have put in another entrance on Greenwich Avenue, where the loading ramp used to be.  It looks like quite the fancy neoclassical building that it once was.  There is another store going in where Victoria's Secret used to be.  With the former signs off the building on the northeast side of Greenwich Avenue and Lewis Street, one can see the shadow imprints of the letters "The Putnam Trust Company".  The new street lamp on the south side of the side walk at the Senior and the Arts Center, and the one by the Police Station entrance, and the one at the top of Greenwich Avenue on the west side are out of alignment and missing their domes, I guess from high winds this winter.  I stopped by CVS, and I bought two 17.5 ounce CVS Deluxe Mixed Nuts lightly salted for $6.99 each for $13.98 total.  I chatted with a few locals.  I used the bathroom at Starbucks.  The bathroom at CVS is still under construction.  I sat out for a while.  I then went by the Putnam Shell at 401 West Putnam Avenue, and I filled up the fuel tank of the Volvo wagon for $9.01 of self service V-Powered premium gasoline for $4.299 a gallon with a dime a gallon off with my Stop and Shop card for 2.096 gallons at odometer reading of 107619 miles for 24.9 miles driven since Tuesday April 1, 2014 for 11.88 miles per gallon in local traffic.  We no longer drive down by the waterfront on Steamboat Road anymore, since I can not afford the extra dollar in gasoline for the extra driving each trip.  I then returned home, and I chatted with a neighbor.  CIO

<888> 04/07/14 Monday 10:10 A.M.  Business wise in this area, the few times since 1962, when I could afford to travel in this area, I remember a few times driving up Route 7 north of Danbury, Connecticut up to Northern Vermont, and pretty much along both sides of the road, there are a lot of black and white dairy cows.  Since there are 6.5 million Italians in the New York and New England area, there might be money to be made in Italian dairy products, if one knew how to produce such items.  CIO

<888> 04/07/14 Monday 9:45 A.M.  Having worked as a clerk typist at www.cbsnews.com during Watergate, although I was fired for not making to work by 10 A.M. after three months, I became somewhat established in the news business.  However, on limited income, one can not write anything that one might be sued for, and it takes funds to look into events elsewhere.  Thus I am basically left being the Village Idiot or the Maytag repairman in Greenwich, Connecticut; where I can not even afford to visit nearby Port Chester, New York or Old Greenwich, where other people in this area live.  From experience, I know Fort Lauderdale, Florida was always interesting in coming up with news stories, because so many people drink alcohol down there around the busy waterfront.  Whether there is any substance to their bar room conversations is opened to debate, but they are near the more volatile Miami, Florida area; so they possibly know something we do not.  In the fall of 1976 in Fort Lauderdale, when I was there waiting for my unemployment checks to come in from Daniel Construction in Greenville, South Carolina; there was some sort of conflict with the local authorities in Fort Lauderdale, and they had to call in the http://www.usmarshals.gov/ to restore law and order, but from my viewpoint on the beach at the time, it was a cold winter down there, and there were not many people around, and most of them were older retired people not causing any problems.  Thus the local writers in the Fort Lauderdale http://www.sun-sentinel.com/ might have been stretching the truth for fun and profit.  That area of Florida is well known for tabloid journalism.  CIO

<888> 04/07/14 Monday 9:00 A.M.  Back during the recession in 1977, one could make a bit of money out in www.nantucket.net if one had a sea scallop boat.  I used to get $50 for opening a five gallon pail of sea scallops.  A five pound pail of the sea scallops not the shells, which is a lot of sea scallops.  They now go for $15.99 a pound at the A&P Fresh in Greenwich.  Of course it is dangerous being at sea harvesting the sea scallops, and one has to have their sea legs.  It is also hard on the hands opening sea scallops since they have sharp edges.  Out in Nantucket, they use the sea scallop shells for making driveways which stinks quite a bit while the guts on the sea scallops rot in the hot sun.  Still the simple people out in Nantucket have their traditional way of doing things versus the more affluent people from the mainland.  There is not much money in quahogs which are large clams.  In the summer of 1976, in the bay on the south shore off Madeket, one could use one's toes like picking up golf balls in the water and pick up quahogs from the six feet of water at low tide.  However, one only gets about $20 for a fifty pound potato bag of quahogs.  Charlie Sayle used to make Quahog chowder, when he was not making lightship baskets.  Basket weaving is big occupation out in Nantucket, particularly in the winter.  When the summer visitors start to show up around the third week of June after the Boston schools are out, the people from down south that arrive earlier have already established themselves in their summer business occupations.  The schools down south get out much earlier.  Thus the Grey Lady might be Belle Starr http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belle_Starr .  One of the main restaurants on Broad Street in Nantucket is the "Brotherhood of Thieves".  Possibly, when the rich people show up in Nantucket, the local islanders leave the island and visit their homes on the mainland and rob them, but that is just theory.  Possibly some of the Nantucket whalers were not whalers, but possibly were pirates.  CIO

<888> 04/07/14 Monday 7:20 A.M.  I ate a bowl of pineapple chunks.  The good news from downtown Greenwich Avenue is that the tulips in the tulip bed across the street from the senior and the arts center are about three inches out of the ground, so we might have tulips on display at Easter time.  If one wants to see more tulips in America, around the first week of May, there is the http://www.tuliptime.com/ at Holland, Michigan http://www.holland.org/ , where the Dutch Americans also make http://www.heinz.com/ pickles in the world's largest pickle factory and they also make Chevy Volt batteries and http://www.chriscraft.com/ yachts.  They also have nice beaches in the summer on Lake Michigan, but it can be cool there.  Also the undertow on the Lake Michigan shore line can be dangerous.  CIO

<888> 04/07/14 Monday 6:35 A.M.  When it was minus 26 degrees Fahrenheit in Manhattan in February 1982, and I returned to Key West, Florida www.liveduvalstreet.com and http://casamarinaresort.com/ for a few weeks, the owner of http://www.carrvalleycheese.com/ gave me a place to stay for a few days, since he knew my family from the Midwest and other Dairy people we also knew.  I met a few other people down there also, but I got severely sun burned, since I was not used to being out in the intense sun.  I met a friend of Lowell Weicker's whom was a former navy medic, and since it was so cold up north, I guess a lot of other people from up north were around.  Also I have visited with family in Vero Beach, Florida since then, but I have never returned back to the Florida Keys.  Since at age 64, I am comfortable in my small apartment in Greenwich, Connecticut; and I am not very good at camping out on the beach in Florida waiting for Southern Hospitality, which never seemed to come my way south of the Mason Dixon line.  I guess I am pretty much a prisoner of economic conditions in Greenwich, Connecticut; particularly since I never venture into nearby Manhattan.  The old Nixon republican group of people from the old days do not have many people left in this area anyway.  I guess they all went back to Southern California.  Since I am from two established families in the Midwest, I manage to endure the colder winters up north in Connecticut.  Even though one spends a lot of time inside during the winter, one has to learn to keep busy in order to avoid Cabin Fever.  Before personal computers and the internet, we mostly kept busy by reading books and other printed material all of the time.  CIO

<888> 04/02/14 Wednesday 12:30 A.M.  I took the wire rack out of the Faberware Turbo convection oven, and I preheated the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit about five minutes.  While doing that I unwrapped the 12.75 ounce Tony's pepperoni frozen pizza, and I put it on the wire rack, and I seasoned it with celery salt, ground black pepper, garlic salt, Italian seasoning, a generous portion of grated Parmesan and Romano cheese, and extra virgin Italian olive oil over it all.  I then put the pizza on the rack in the Farberware Turbo convection oven on the center rack position for 14 minutes.  After 14 minutes, I used pot holders to take out the hot rack with pizza, and I put it on a wooden cutting board, so it would not burn the Formica counter top.  I then used a spatula to slide the pizza on to a dinner plate.  I ate it with a knife and fork along with a 12 ounce glass of Schweppes Ginger Ale.  CIO
