03/29/24 Friday 5:55 P.M.  I chatted with a friend.  I put a spinach wrap on a dinner plate.  I covered it on one side with Hellmann's mayonnaise.  I then alternated it with six deli slices of ham with six slices of white cheese, and I rolled it up, and I cut it in half.  I ate it with a 12 ounce glass of www.coke.com Zero Sugar and a 15 ounce can of sweet peas with Smart Balance spread.  The slices of deli ham I am using are very paper thin, but the cheese is just as thin, so it is basically a ham and cheese wrap.  I will now rest a bit.  CIO

03/29/24 Friday 3:10 P.M.  I moved the small octagon table on the left side of the Ethan Allen recliner, and I moved the square Danish end table from there to the right side of the kitchen entrance.  I went out to the nearby Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop on Hamilton Avenue, and I bought for 75% off a vase lamp with shade for $15.  I then returned home, and I installed it on the Ethan Allen octagon table with a GE energy saving light bulb.  From there I moved the copper eagle lamp in the center place on the window ledge.  From there I moved the map of Magellan lamp to the bedroom mahogany bureau.

03/28/24 Thursday 3:55 P.M.  I moved the small dark oak table from the left side of the Ethan Allen recliner to the left side of the Samsung television with the laptop computers on it.  Thus the laptop computers are higher up for a bigger person.  From there, I moved the square Danish end table to the left side of the Ethan Allen recliner.  I moved the copper eagle lamp to it.  I moved the new larger Oriental vase lamp to the end table between the Ethan Allen recliner and the red leather Chesterfield chair.  Also from there, I moved the Grace Digital Internet radio to a folding oak table on the right side of the Queen Anne chair.  I moved the Map Magellan lamp to the center living room window shelf.  I also moved the pineapple lamp to the new octagon end table on the left side of the kitchen entrance.  I also turned around the ottoman so the narrow side sticks out from the wall.

03/28/24 Thursday 11:40 A.M.  I went out to the Stop and Shop at 161 West Putnam Avenue, I bought the second to the last five gallon bottle of Poland Spring water for $9.99 with bottle return and a 48 ounce Almond Breeze vanilla unsweetened almond milk for $5.99 for $15.98 total.  I then went to www.cvs.com on Greenwich Avenue, and I bought four Maxwell House instant coffee and one decaf for $24.95 total.  I used the bathroom at CVS.  I then hung out in the Junior Chamber of Commerce Park across the street.  I then picked up a prescription at CVS.  I then went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop on Hamilton Avenue, and I bought a small heavy Ethan Allen octagon oak table with glass top for $25.  I then returned home.  I put the octagon table at the kitchen entrance on the left side of the ottoman with the Map of Magellan lamp and the Alexa display on it.

03/28/24 Thursday 7:35 A.M.  When I first returned to Greenwich on December 13, 1983 from Oslo, Norway, Plandome Manor, Long Island, Nantucket, Fort Lauderdale, Toronto, and Manhattan with a telephone number for the carriage house at W. 03/27/24 Wednesday 11:05 A.M.  I went out to the nearby Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop on Hamilton Avenue.  I bought a large oriental vase lamp with shade for $26.25 on sale down from $35.  I then returned home.  I installed it in the center position on the living room window shelf.  I put a GE energy saving long life bulb in it.  I moved the copper eagle lamp from there to the end table in between the Ethan Allen chair and the red Chesterfield leather chair which also has the same GE bulb in it.  I then moved the dark oak table from the left side of the ottoman, and I put it on the left side of the Ethan Allen recliner with the yellow pineapple lamp on it.  I then put a folding oak TV table on the left side of the ottoman with the Map of Magellan lamp on it and the small Alexa display on it too.

03/27/24 Wednesday 9:20 A.M.  I went downtown to www.starbucks.com on Greenwich Avenue.  I used the bathroom there.  I then drove down by the waterfront on Steamboat Road.   It looks more cheerful down there in the daytime.  I then went to www.cvs.com on Greenwich Avenue.  I bought a croissant there for $2.14.  I then ate the croissant in the Junior Chamber of Commerce Park.  I chatted with a friend.  I then went to the Acme grocery store at 160 West Putnam Avenue.  I bought a five pound bag of gold potatoes for $4.99 and a Prime Rib of Roast Beef for $7.99 a pound for $67.60 for $72.59 total.  I then returned home.  I put away the food.  I put the grey bag back in the car.  I drank a instant coffee outside.  I filed this report.  I will now go outside again.  Orthodox Easter 2024 in the United States (timeanddate.com) is not until May 5, 2024 this year.

03/25/24 Monday 11:20 P.M.  I woke up at 8 P.M..  I chatted with a friend.  I made my bed.  I went outside.  I picked up the mail.  I ate my usual breakfast of pineapple chunks, mandarin oranges, Jimmy Dean sausage egg and cheese croissant, two English  muffins with Smart Balance spread, diet cranberry juice, and a instant coffee outside.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  I went out to the Stop and Shop at 161 West Putnam Avenue.  I bought a package of Toufani spinach wraps for $4.99, two six packs of Stop and Shop English muffins for $1.59 each, two 48 ounce Ocean Spray diet cranberry juice for $3 each, a 12 pack of Jimmy Dean sausage, egg, and cheese croissants for $16.99, a package of deli sliced ham for $4.99 a pound for $3.74, and a package of deli sliced hot pepper cheese for $5.99 a pound for $41.24 total.  I then returned home, and I put away my groceries.  I put the grey bag back in the car.  I drank a instant coffee outside.  I filed this report.  I will now go outside again.  CIO

03/25/24 Monday 3:25 A.M.  I put a spinach wrap on a dinner plate.  I covered it on one side with Hellmann's mayonnaise.  I then alternated it with six deli slices of ham with four slices of Van Kass Dutch gouda cheese and four slices of white cheese, and I rolled it up, and I cut it in half.  I ate it with a 12 ounce glass of www.coke.com Zero Sugar and a 15 ounce can of sweet peas with Smart Balance spread.  The slices of deli ham I am using are very paper thin, but the cheese is just as thin, so it is basically a ham and cheese wrap.

03/25/24 Monday 2:25 A.M.  I went out to www.cvs.com at 644 West Putnam Avenue.  I bought a Sonar XT gaming headset for $22.85.  I then with my 40% off coupon, I bought a bottle of Super Beta Prostate Advanced for $23.99.  I then went by Putnam Shell, but their pumps were not working.  I went by the Mobil station kitty corner across the street from CVS, and I filled up the tank for$24.07 at $4.799 a gallon for permium gasoline for 5.016 gallons at odometer reading of 125409 miles for 66.3 miles driven since Wednesday February 28, 2024 for 13.218 miles per gallon in local traffic.  I then returned home, and I put away my purchases.  I drank a instant coffee outside.  No point in wasting fuel driving down the vast wasteland of Greenwich Avenue and Steamboat Road.  CIO

On Beta Testing the newest Windows betas on older machines, one can try this an created a Windows 11 beta Rufus for older machines with this method by downloading the latest Windows 11 beta 25931 https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windowsinsiderpreviewiso?rfs=1 , and I used this procedure for Windows 11 on an older PC, Windows 11 Rufus installed from USB Pen Drive  I made a Windows 11 Rufus USB pen drive with this method this https://rufus.ie/en/ to created a Windows 11 bootable USB pen drive for it to upgrade https://www.elevenforum.com/t/create-bootable-windows-11-iso-without-tpm-secure-boot-and-ram-requirements.1891/ I formatted the over 8 GB USB pen drive in NTFS, and I set Rufus to "MBR" selected and the second and third advanced options selected, also select options no TPM/no Secure boot.  The different language versions of the Windows 11 *.iso download are here https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows11 thus for example if one wanted Windows 11 Professional in French download the *.iso file and make the Windows 11 Rufus USB pen drive the same way.  Once again the Complete PC backup does not work, but Aomei backup does work. Microsoft does not pay its beta tester minions, but one learns a bit about their operating systems for free.  Also on the beta disk manager does not work, unless one uses this way run a CMD prompt as Administrator, and run, "compmgmt.msc" .  CIO

03/24/24 Sunday 10:55 A.M.  I went downtown to the Senior and the Arts Center.  I used the bathroom at www.starbucks.com twice , and I sat inside where it was warmer.  I then went to www.cvs.com on Greenwich Avenue.  I have a 40% off one non sale item coupon, but I could not find anything I need.  I then went to the Acme grocery store at 160 West Putnam Avenue.  They have three big prime ribs of roast beef left on sale for $7.99 a pound.  I bought a 42 ounce Smart Balance spread for $9.39, deli sliced white cheese for $6.99 a pound for $6.85, a 30 ounce jar of Hellmann's mayonnaise for $5.99, a 30 ounce Simply Orange grapefruit juice for $5.09, a 48 ounce Almond Breeze vanilla unsweetened almond milk for $5.69 for $33.01 total.  I then went to CVS at 644 West Putnam Avenue.  I bought as a clearance item a Targus USB headset for $18.41 total.  I then returned home.  I put away my groceries.  I will put the Targus headset on the computer setup to the left of the Samsung television.  I went outside, and I put the grey bag back in the car.  I drank a instant coffee outside.  I filed this report.  I will now go outside again.  CIO

Earlier, I connected up the Map of Magellan lamp on the end table to the light switch for the living room, so it turns on with the other living room lights.  Midnight Mike needs lights at night to maintain his cheerful mood while awake in the New England darkness.  When I visited Norway in February and March 1983, I did not really notice shorter daylight hours compared to here.  CIO

03/20/24 Wednesday 4:05 A.M.  I moved the blue comforter from the bookcase on the left of the living room back to the left side of the bedroom closet shelf.  I moved the Apple Mac Mini from the right of the Samsung 49 inch television to the left side underneath the AT&T two line telephone on the small brass and glass table.  When using it, the wireless keyboard and wireless mouse can be placed on the wicker tray and placed on the black piano bench in front of the Ethan Allen recliner.

03/20/24 Wednesday 2:00 A.M.  Since, I don't need a chair to put on my snow boots anymore, I moved the folding mahogany chair made in Viet Nam from in front of the right living room closet to in front of the bookcase on the left side of the hallway entrance.

03/20/24 Wednesday 1:30 A.M.  I put a spinach wrap on a dinner plate.  I covered it on one side with Hellmann's mayonnaise.  I then alternated it with six deli slices of ham with two slices of pepper jack white cheese and four slices of Van Kass Dutch gouda cheese, and I rolled it up, and I cut it in half.  I ate it with a 12 ounce glass of Fresca with three ounces of grapefruit juice and a 15 ounce can of cream corn with Smart Balance spread.  The slices of deli ham I am using are very paper thin, but the cheese is just as thin, so it is basically a ham and cheese wrap.

03/20/24 Wednesday 12:10 A.M.  I went out to the Stop and Shop at 161 West Putnam Avenue.  I bought a package of Stop and Shop English muffins for $1.59, a package of deli sliced ham for $5.99 a pound for $5.06, and a package of deli sliced Van Kass Dutch gouda cheese for $9.99 a pound $10.24 for $16.89 total.   I then went to www.cvs.com on Greenwich Avenue, and I bought a nine foot extension cord for $7.79 and a 16 foot extension cord for $10.79 and $1.18 tax for $19.76 total.  I then bought a jar of Maxwell House instant coffee with bonus bucks of $2 from the previous purchase for $2.99 total.  I then drove down to the Board of Education Veterans Monument parking lot, and I watched the construction going on at that location.  I then returned home.  I sat outside.  I used the nine foot extension cord to hook up the pineapple lamp on the right side of the red Chesterfield chair to the central apartment light switch, so it turns off and on with the other lights.  I put the 16 foot extension cord underneath the right front of the bed.  I will now go outside and drink an instant coffee.  CIO

03/19/24 Tuesday 9:20 P.M.  I went out to the Stop and Shop at 161 West Putnam Avenue, I bought a five gallon bottle of Poland Spring water with bottle return for $9.99.   I then toured www.cvs.com on Greenwich Avenue.  I then drove down to the Board of Education Parking Lot Veterans Monument, and I sat out for a long time.  The tulips are only half way up.  I bought a www.starbucks.com medium Pike coffee with almond milk and Splenda sweetener for $3.19 off my Starbucks card.   I then drank it in front of the Senior and the Arts Center.  I used the bathroom at Starbucks before and after drinking the coffee.  I walked down Zen Stationary, and I bought a "Line-Em-Up" scratch card for a dollar, and I lost as usual to the Bank of Bombay.  I then viewed the closed www.apple.com store.  I then sat out some more at the Veterans monument.  They have no parking signs on lower Greenwich Avenue for night work by the water company.  I guess they are working on a underground pipe.  I then went to the Acme grocery store at 160 West Putnam Avenue.  I bought six 16 ounce cans of Dole mandarin oranges for $14.19 total.  I then returned home.  I brought the 42 pound bottle of water up with my little folding cart, and I stored it underneath the teak dining table.  I then went outside, and I put the folding cart and the grey bag back in the car.  I sat outside.

I moved the red leather Chesterfield chair to the right side of the kitchen entrance with the small oak table with a pineapple lamp on it to its left.  It is now good for reading.  I moved the end table and the Ethan Allen recliner further towards the living windows with the ottoman on the left side of the ottoman, so that area is now a lot more open from the entry area.  I also moved the folding oak table on the left side of the Queen Anne chair to the right side of the Queen Anne chair with the Ocean Digital Internet radio on top of it and with the Google Display on top of that.

I moved the Queen Anne chair in front of the living room windows where the Chesterfield red leather chair was, and I put the Chesterfield red leather chair where the Queen Anne chair was.

03/19/24 Tuesday 1:45 A.M.  I moved the small oak table from the left side of the desk.  I then turned around the teak dining table, so its long side is on the outside of the wall.  I put the Brother all purpose laser printer and the Panasonic two line telephone on it along with the stuff that was there before.  I moved the Glacier water dispenser from the living room to the far kitchen wall.  I moved the garbage can from there to opposite the refrigerator.  I moved the ottoman to the right side of the kitchen entrance where the Glacier water dispenser was.  I moved the small oak table to the left side of the Ethan Allen recliner.  I think it all works better that way.

In the living room, I moved the small oak table with the Brother all purpose laser and two line Panasonic telephone over to the left towards the teak dining table about a foot.  I  then moved the desk further to the left about a foot.  I then moved the Queen Anne chair and the Ethan Allen recliner and the end table in between back about two feet, so the primary sitting area in the living room is now more spacious.

See what the French are doing Le Monde in English – World news, culture and opinion .  I learned the last time I visited Paris around 1992 that every resident in Paris entertains on average sixteen visitors a year.  Thus I think France is good at the Tourist Trade.  However, it is just as expensive as here, so one needs to be prepared for sticker shock. When I first visited Europe in 1972, I read, "Europe on Five Dollars a Day."  During the trip in 1992, I read, "Europe on Fifty dollars a day."  I am told now that it is, "Europe on Five Hundred Dollars a Day."  Thus I probably will not be returning back to Europe ever again.

03/18/24 Monday 2:50 A.M.  I watched off Netflix episode 5 of, "Turning Point."  A lot of its series content I never knew, since as I recall the first television I owned was a 15 inch Samsung color television with rabbit ears that I bought from  Woolworth's on Greenwich Avenue for $89 for the studio apartment at 700 Steamboat Road.  I did read printed material at the Greenwich Library before that when I returned to Greenwich in December 1983, but in the period before that in Manhattan, Nantucket, Long Island and traveling; I never had a chance to watch much television.  Even, when I worked at CBS News on West 57th in Manhattan for six months during 1973, I did not own a television, but I would watch it at work after work.  Thus I am probably better at networking with pretelevision people than the modern generation.

03/16/24 Saturday 7:10 P.M.  On the second Dell 17.3 inch laptop on a second partition, I installed the latest version of Microsoft 12 Canary beta.  I now have to configure it.  Back in the old days at Polaroid, we got to eat a $1.79 roast beef sandwich on a Kaiser roll with Bermuda red onion and Russian dressing at Elsie's sandwich shop off Harvard Square.  None of the low level employees dared eat at the Greek restaurant near Osborne Street where Doctor Land ate.  He once gave a waitress there $5,000.  It was next to a Cambridge public housing project that was near www.mit.edu and East of www.harvard.edu .  CIO

03/13/24 Wednesday 6:20 P.M.  I went downtown to www.cvs.com on Greenwich Avenue.  I paid a dollar in quarters to park.  I bought two 12 packs of Fresca and a 12 pack of www.coke.com Zero Sugar for $23.58 total.  I then went to the Stop and Shop at 161 West Putnam Avenue, and I bought a package of Toufani spinach wraps for $4.99, a six pack of Stop and Shop English muffins for $1.59, two 48 ounce Ocean Spray diet cranberry juice for $3 each, a 48 ounce vanilla unsweetened Almond Breeze almond milk for $5.99, a package of deli sliced Virginia ham for $4.99 a pound for $4.92, and a package of deli sliced Pepper Jack cheese for $5.99 a pound for $6.11 for $29.80 total.  I then returned home.  I used my little folding cart to bring up the soda and groceries, and I put them away.  I put the folding cart and grey bag back in the car, and I drank a instant coffee outside.  I filed this report.  I will now go outside again.  CIO

I have the Ocean Digital internet radio on it and the Google Display facing the Queen Anne chair.  I moved the Queen Anne chair, the end table and the Ethan Allen recliner about fifteen inches towards the windows.  I put a folding oak table on the left side of the Ethan Allen recliner.  I also moved the Grace Digital internet radio to the end table facing the Queen Anne chair.

03/12/24 Tuesday 7:10 P.M.  I put a spinach wrap on a dinner plate.  I covered it on one side with Hellmann's olive oil mayonnaise.  I then alternated it with six deli slices of ham  with six slices of white American cheese, and I rolled it up, and I cut it in half.  I ate it with a 12 ounce glass of Fresca with three ounces of Tropicana Carribean Sunset juice and a 15 ounce can of sweet peas with Smart Balance spread.  The slices of deli ham I am using are very paper thin, but the cheese is just as thin, so it is basically a ham and cheese wrap.

Wholesale Club in nearby Greenburgh, New York Greenwich, Connecticut to Greenburgh, New York - Google Search and Wellsley Farms Boneless Beef Ribeye Roast, 3.75-10 lb. | BJ's Wholesale Club (bjs.com).  It is near where Scott Nelson lived above the bakery in Irvington, New York.  I used to see a lot of women there that looked like Hillary, Clinton there, and somebody told me they were Army Wives from across the Hudson river in nearby West Point, New York.  The only thing is that there is a lot of traffic that way.  CIO

03/10/24 Sunday 2:45 P.M.  I went downtown to the Acme grocery store at 160 West Putnam Avenue.  I bought six 16 ounce cans of Dole mandarin oranges for $2.49 each and a sesame seed bagel for .89 for $15.83 total.  I then went to the Junior Chamber of Commerce Park downtown, and I ate the bagel.  I then used the bathroom at www.cvs.com on Greenwich Avenue.  I bought a 200 count bottle of Bayer baby aspirin for $14.99.  I then sat out some more in the Junior Chamber of Commerce Park.  I then drove down to the Board of Education parking lot veterans monument, and I sat out for a while.  The tulips are about half way up.  I then returned home.  I put away my purchases.  I put the grey bag back in the car.  I drank a instant coffee outside.  CIO

03/09/24 Saturday 1:45 P.M.  I rested a bit.  I went out, and I toured the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop on Hamilton Avenue.  I viewed just east of it Garden Poultry, but they do not list their prices.  They just have an app.  I then went by the Stop and Shop at 161 West Putnam Avenue.  I bought a five gallon bottle of Poland Spring water with bottle return for $9.99 and a six pack of Stop and Shop English muffins for $1.59 for $11.58 total.  I then returned home.  I used my little folding cart to bring up the 42 pound bottle of water.  I did not get any mail.  I then went outside, and I put the folding cart back in the car, and I drank an instant coffee.  They Stop and Shop has a full stock of five gallon bottles of Poland Spring water.  I filed this report.  I will now go outside again.

Searle in Chicago, Royal Dutch Shell in Wood River, Illinois, Dupont in Martinsville, Virginia, Monsanto Chemstrand in St. Louis, Missouri, Sao Paulo, Brazil, Pensacola, Florida, Decatur, Alabama, Raleigh Durham, North Carolina, and Manhattan in New York City, in London, England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Japan, and Belgium, Polaroid in Boston and Cambridge, Waltham, Massachusetts, Inchcaday in the Netherlands and England, Combustion Engineering in Manhattan New York City, Orange, New Jersey, Stamford, Connecticut, Continental Can in Greenwich, Connecticut, Manhattan New York City, Indiana, South Carolina, and Belgium, and Royal Dutch Shell in the Hague, Houston, Texas, Saudi Arabia and Nigeria.  He retired to Newport Richey, Florida and passed away around January 1989 from a blood clot to the brain.  Obviously he knew how to build and run various factories and refineries.  CIO

03/06/24 Wednesday 8:45 A.M.  I channel surfed.  I went outside.  I went out the Stop and Shop at 161 West Putnam Avenue.  I bought a six pack of Stop and Shop English muffins for $2.99, six 20 ounce cans of Stop and Shop pineapple chunks for $1.69 each, four 15 ounce cans of Del Monte sweet peas for $1.67 each, four 15 ounce cans of Del Monte corn for $1.67 each, a package of Toufani spinach wraps for $4.99, a package of deli sliced ham for $4.99 a pound for $6.72 and a package of deli sliced Van Kass Dutch gouda cheese for $9.99 a pound for $43.61 total.  I then returned home.  I put my groceries away.  I put the grey bag back in the car.  I drank a instant coffee outside.  I chatted with a friend.  I filed a report.  I will now go outside again.  CIO

03/06/24 Wednesday 3:30 A.M.  I put a spinach wrap on a dinner plate.  I covered it on one side with Hellmann's olive oil mayonnaise.  I then alternated it with six deli slices of ham  with six slices of red wax Dutch gouda cheese, and I rolled it up, and I cut it in half.  I ate it with a 12 ounce glass of Fresca with three ounces of grapefruit juice and a 15 ounce can of corn with Smart Balance spread.  The slices of deli ham I am using are very paper thin, but the cheese is just as thin, so it is basically a ham and cheese wrap.

03/06/24 Wednesday 2:40 A.M.  I went out to www.cvs.com at 644 West Putnam Avenue.  I bought four Nescafe Columbian instant coffee for $7.49 each, two 20 count Twinings Earle Grey tea for $3 each box and buy one get one free of CVS 150 count 500 mg. cranberry pills for $32.49 both less discounts for $58.45 total.  I then drove down Greenwich Avenue as far as www.starbucks.com .  Below that Greenwich Avenue is blocked off with some sort of construction.  I then returned home.  I put away my purchases.  I put the grey bag back in the car.  I sat outside briefly.  I filed this report.  I will now go outside again.  CIO

03/05/24 Tuesday 8:50 A.M.  I channel surfed.  I went out and voted at the local Republican primary at the New Lebanon school.  On the way, all of the fire brigade was parked on North Water Street, so that was where the fire call was at 4 A.M..  I then went to the Acme grocery store 161 West Putnam Avenue, and I bought two Boston Market 13.5 ounce Salisbury steak meals for $3 each, a 42 ounce Smart Balance Spread for $9.69, a 30 ounce Tropicana Caribbean Sunset for $4.29, a 48 ounce Almond Breeze vanilla unsweetened almond milk for $5.69 less Tuesday Senior discount of $1.26 for $23.91 total.  I then returned home.  I put my groceries away.  I put the grey bag back in the car, and I drank a decaf instant coffee outside.

03/02/24 Saturday 7:55 A.M.  I channel surfed.  Jack Benny is still on television here, so I guess Hollywood has not come up with any new films.  I will now shut down the computer.  I will eat a yogurt.  I will then go to bed.  Most people in Manhattan unlike the suburbs do not have televisions, since they have other activities to watch like people watching.  I once saw Jack Benny going into P.J. Clarke's next to the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Federal building on Third Avenue and 54th Street.  However, the Federal government does not pay much money by New York City standards, so one of the last times I looked there was a big www.mcdonalds.com across the street from it.  The first time I looked at the new www.fbi.gov building on Pennsylvania Avenue many moons ago, there was also a McDonalds behind it.  Some the meat packers and founders of McDonalds lived in Lake Forest, Illinois where I went to college at www.lakeforest.edu with about a dozen other people from this area.  The last I heard one of them is in charge of Wilmington Trust the Dupont family bank, so maybe he has a few connections still.  CIO

03/01/24 Friday 2:05 A.M.  The Royal House of Norway The Royal House of Norway - English - The Royal House of Norway (royalcourt.no) .  When I arrived in Oslo, Norway by mistake in February 1983 on S.A.S., when I was supposed to be flying to Stockholm, Sweden, they told me my ticket that I paid $800 for at J.F.K. airport which was supposed to be round trip to Sweden and a week's stay at the S.A.S. hotel was only a one way ticket to Sweden.  They told me this at the S.A.S. hotel in Oslo, Norway.  Thus with no money I checked into the Y.M.C.A. across the street from the S.A.S. hotel, and I went to Cat's discothèque in six feet of snow.  All of the Norwegians were wearing full length white leather coats.  They had lots of pictures of the Norwegian race horse and its descendants in the Cat's disco.  After a couple of days, they kicked me out of the Y.M.C.A., and I walked around at night.  I walked into the Best Western Hotel behind the palace, and they put me up, when I gave them my passport.  I think I stayed there for about three weeks.  I only got to eat corn flakes for breakfast at the open buffet.  I also ate Swedish wasa crisps.  I did see the Shell Oil building and the big www.ibm.com building.  I toured both old churches and the Frogmore Park with all of the statues.  I went to a concert at the Peace Hall too.  I used the health club at the S.A.S. hotel. Even though I did not have any money, I had a pretty good time.  I was able to wash my clothes in the bathroom sink and dry them on the heated bathroom floor.  I also went to a student pub in the basement of a old church.  I also toured the library at the University of Oslo.  I also toured the Town Hall.  There were about eight Norwegian cruise ships in the harbor waiting to go south. They told me I would have more fun, if I had flown to Glen Eagles in Scotland.  I visited the S.A.S. hotel night club and they were flying the Texas flag there. I also visited the Bristol Hotel casino.  I chatted with the Royal Norwegians guards outside the palace.  Finally the Best Western Hotel wanted me to pay my bill, so they contacted the United States embassy, and a United States embassy employee took me to the embassy, and they sorted out my paper work and contacted my family.  My father paid my $2,000 bill, and they gave me a return ticket to the United States and a hundred bill which I used to buy two cartons of Prince cigarettes in the Copenhagen airport.  I spent a week homeless at J.F.K. airport and I saw a lot of Easter travelers.  I then contact the friend in Plandome Manor,  Long Island that I built the garage apartment for, and I took the Long Island railroad there, and he gave me a hundred dollar bill, and I then flew from Le Guardia airport back up to Nantucket and returned to working as a dishwashers and pot scrubber at the Le Languedoc restaurant there.  I finally returned to Greenwich on December 13,1983; and I have been back here ever since.  I had a classmate at Greenwich Country Day school who was distantly related to the Norwegian Royal family, and I used to see him a lot around the www.harvard.edu campus when I lived in the Boston area.  Also Fred Von Mierer's apartment at 420 East 49th Street was a block away from the Norwegian and Swedish consulates in the Random House publishing building where Jackie Onassis also worked.  Also Norwegians only have cartoons on television.
