Note: <888> 02/29/08 Friday 10:40 P.M..  I did some more research on microwave ovens, but there is nothing that interests me on my budget.  I chatted with a relative.  I fried five strips of bacon, and I toasted two pieces of toast that I put butter on, and I made a three egg omelet that I put about a fourth of a cup grated Vermont extra sharp cheddar cheese on, along with three half inch by 3/8th inch by 2.5 inch strips of 1/3rd less fat Philadelphia cream cheese inside along with grated parmesan cheese on the outside.  I ate it all with a glass of iced tea.  I watched part of the Turner Movie Channel movie, "The Day of the Jackal".  CIO  

Note: <888> 02/29/08 Friday 5:30 P.M..  I woke up at 2 P.M. this afternoon.  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted bagel with olive oil, orange and grape and cranraspberry juice with vitamins and supplements and coffee with milk and splenda sweetener.  I washed the breakfast dishes.   I made my bed.  I picked up my mail, and I chatted with a neighbor.  I threw out the garbage.  I also threw out the old periodical literature.  I watered the plants.  I chatted with www.whitehouse.gov about the price of tea in China.  I noticed when I was throwing out the garbage, somebody was wasting fuel flying a couple of old jets in cross formation above Greenwich.  I also chatted with a neighbor of Mr. Grumman's of Grumman aircraft.  The neighbor of Mr. Grumman's used to work at the coffee shop across the street from Studio 54 near where the Microsoft conference is suppose to be held this Tuesday.  It is suppose to be warm on Tuesday, but possibly with some rain.  Going to a Microsoft conference is like being a paid mourner at a funeral, since everyone there is there for the free software, and most everyone there knows the product line after beta testing.  Of course nobody ever talks and nobody networks, and Microsoft usually has a few vendors there from companies that no one ever heard of trying to sell their product line.  It would be nice if they had something more substantial to eat besides popcorn.  If I pay $20 round trip on Metro North to go into Manhattan, they should at least give me a free roast beef sandwich, so I have the energy to make it home.  I have the download of Vista Server 2008, and I could try to install it, and wait for the product key on Tuesday to activate it, however I am not sure they have a 30 day grace period on activation or not.  I got a $10 check from Knowledge networks for doing their surveys.  CIO

Note: <888> 02/27/08 Wednesday 9:25 P.M..  The bad news is the current interest rate is 3%.  The Euro is worth a $1.50.  However, although lots of Europeans are supposedly coming to the United States to take advantage of the cheaper prices, I have not seen many in Greenwich, Connecticut.  I guess they are afraid to come out here, since their American Cousins might try to barrow money from them, or at least get a free meal.  I reheated on one vegetable cycle in the G.E. microwave oven the same taco and bean and beef meal as last night, and spread some crated Vermont extra sharp cheddar cheese on it.  When cooking with a microwave oven, one can not use metal, but one can used microwave proof ceramic dishes or glassware or microwave proof plastic.   Microwave proof plates and dishes are usually labeled on the bottom.  Pyrex is also microwave proof.  I took my Hellmann's mayonnaise jar that I keep uncooked rice in, and I tightened it with a hand jar opener, and then I tested opening it with the Black and Decker automatic jar opener.  It is like this Amazon.com: Black & Decker JW200BM - Lids Off Automatic Jar Opener - Black: Kitchen & Dining Model JW200BM.   It is available here Black & Decker Lids Off™ Automatic Jar Opener - Black - JW200BM | Black & Decker Home | www.bdappliancestore.com for $45 plus shipping .  Thus at $5 down from $50 plus shipping at the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop, it was a good deal.  It is also a new item in its original packaging.  I chatted with a relative twice.  This summer when I go up to Kennebunkport, Maine, I am going to take the Black and Decker Professional Jar opener up to Kennebunkport, Maine, since there is a large kitchen up there.  I do not need it here, since about the only jars I open are tomato sauce and mayonnaise jars, which I can do with my hand jar opener.  It takes up too much room on my kitchen counter.  I packed it back up in its original box, and I have it by the kitchen entrance ready to take up to Kennebunkport, Maine this summer.  When I chatted with my relative down south, I will not be going down to Florida this winter, since it would be too expensive for me to travel down there, and my relatives do not need my assistance down there this winter.  It is not only the cost of AirTran Airways - Home Page from Westchester County airport to Orlando, but it would also cost for me to get to Westchester County airport, and it would cost for me to get from Orlando to Vero Beach, Florida TCPalm : Treasure Coast, Palm Beach, News Business, Homes, Jobs, Cars, & Information, where I have relatives.  It would be hard to get a discount flight down south this time of year, and with the Audi, I can easily drive up to Kennebunkport, Maine when needed to help out around the house there.  Having relatives north and south, one frequently has to be well organized in terms of travel plans.  I uninstalled the Adobe Flash player since it still causes internet explorer to crash.  I am up another batch of passion bunch.  CIO

Note: <888> 02/26/08 Tuesday 9:10 P.M..  I took the 12 inch Griswold frying pan, and I put about three tablespoons of olive oil in it and three pads of butter.  I peeled and minced three cloves of garlic, and I peeled and diced two medium onions, and I added them to the Griswold frying pan, and I turned it on to medium high electric burner heat on the large electric burner.  I diced two 8 ounce top round burgers, and once the onions were blanched a little bit, I added the pound of diced beef, and I stirred it all together.   I seasoned it all with Old Bay Seasoning, ground black pepper, Italian spices and garlic powder.  Once the beef was lightly browned I added a 28 ounce can of B&M bacon and onion flavored baked beans, and I mixed it all together.  I seasoned it some more with Old Bay Seasoning, ground black pepper, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, paprika, and red cayenne pepper.  I added about 1/8th of a cup of Kraft barbeque sauce, a couple of teaspoons of La Choy low sodium soy sauce, a teaspoon and a half of Frank's hot sauce, and a tablespoon of Lea and Perrins Worcestershire sauce.   I mixed it all together, and once it was bubbling, I simmered it on medium for about a half hour.  About half way through I added one third of an eight ounce package of 1/3rd less fat Philadelphia Cream Cheese, and I mixed it into the mixture.  I took a box of Old El Paso soft and hard taco shells, and I put two soft and two hard broken open shells on a large dinner plate.  I crated about a half cup of Vermont extra sharp cheddar cheese.  I spread about one third of the cooked beef and bean mixture on the four taco shells, and I put the other two thirds in a Rubbermaid container with lid in the refrigerator.  I spread the grated cheese over the beef and bean mixture, and I ate it all with a glass of iced tea.  I then as usual cleaned up the kitchen.  CIO

Note: <888> 02/25/08 Monday 9:30 P.M..  My Million Dollar Index portfolio that I started tracking with Microsoft Money MSN about 8 years ago with about 150 stocks worth about a million dollars is suppose to be worth $1,905,525.52 today.  I only adjusted it once about three years ago to account for a few stock name changes, so I am not sure if it is accurate or not, but it still shows up in Microsoft Money 2006.  Alas, I did not actually have the money to invest in it myself.  When I last looked at it about a year ago, most of the stock gains were from Berkshire Hathaway Class A and B stocks.  CIO 

Note: <888> 02/25/08 Monday 9:10 P.M..  I chatted with a relative who told me the best picture at the Academy Awards was "No Country, For Old Men."  That is pretty much the state of the union here too.  If one is young and adventuresome, since Canada supplies 75% of New York's energy, and since they are suppose to have a lot of surplus energy, one could try moving two hours north of Niagara Falls to Toronto, Canada.  They are suppose to have plenty of energy with a local English speaking population.  They have 40 miles of underground streets, so one does not have to go outside in cold weather which is most of the year.  Thus one could live in one of the apartment complexes connected to the underground streets, and never have to go outside.  However, although there is public transportation outside and a subway, the underground streets do not have transportation, so you have to walk around underground or travel above ground in regular transportation to the various points underground.  In other words, you would have to wait outside in the cold for a bus to get from point A to point B underground.  I do not think the last time I look in December 1983, they had people moving belts like they do in airports, but maybe by now they do.  CIO

Note: <888> 02/25/08 Monday 1:05 P.M..  I currently do not need a new microwave oven, and I can not afford one anyway.  I also do not think one should have one shipped since they tend to be fragile.  From what I can come up with off the net, this one Buy the Panasonic Genius Prestige Built-in Microwave Oven and other Kitchen & housewares at circuitcity.com is currently $50 off for $210 plus tax, and it could be picked up at www.circuitcity.com in Norwalk, Connecticut, and it is an inverter model.  However, this NN-SD997S - Genius/Prestige - Shop and Compare at Panasonic indicates it is not a convection model, so it would not be good for browning like a convection oven.   The convection model costs $650 NN-C994S - Genius/Prestige - Shop and Compare at Panasonic , so I think I would stick with my old Farberware convection oven for now, and I also have a backup unit.  For some reason the www.newegg.com web site keeps crashing my web browser.  I installed the Adobe Flash player again, and it still does not make a difference.

I disabled some suspicious Active X programs in Internet Explorer.

Note: <888> 02/23/08 Saturday 5:55 P.M..  I woke up at 7 A.M. this morning.  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with olive oil, orange and grape and cranraspberry juice with vitamins and supplements and coffee with milk and splenda sweetener.  I washed the breakfast dishes.   I made my bed.  I showered, and I cleaned up.  I went out, and I went downtown.  I went by the Chase Bank on Mason Street.  I chatted with a regular Greenwich Avenue walker.  I then went downtown, and I cleaned off the snow off the benches in front of the senior center and the veterans monument across the street from it.  I did not clean off the snow off the benches at the Greenwich Post Office, since that is federal property.  I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.  I chatted with a Scottish person from Manhattan.  I used the bathroom at the Senior and the Arts center on the way up Greenwich Avenue.  I then stopped by CVS, and I bought five 9.2 ounce bags of Hershey mini bars for .99 each bag and .30 tax for $5.22 total.  I then stopped by the ATM machine at the Chase Bank on Mason Street again.  I then walked west on East Putnam Avenue and back down Greenwich Avenue.  I sat out for a while on a clean bench.  I then went by the Greenwich Library, and I gave a Norwegian neighbor one of my calling cards, and I gave the Scottish fellow a calling card.  I used the bathroom at the Greenwich Library, and I toured the facility.  The local ornithologist has not been seen in a while, so perhaps he is bird watching elsewhere.  I chatted with the reference librarians.  I cleaned off the snow off the six benches at the Greenwich Library.  Once the snow begins to melt, if the snow is cleaned off of them, one does not get ice on the benches which is uncomfortable sit on.  I then went by the Greenwich Automotive Service Exxon station, and I bought $8.50 of self service premium unleaded gasoline at $3.839 a gallon for 2.215 gallons for 30.1 miles driving since the previous Saturday at odometer reading of 59599 miles for 13.589 miles per gallon of local driving with a little bit faster driving this week, since I drove over to Tod's Point last Sunday.  My how time flies when one does not drive much.  I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought two Francesca Rinaldi 26 ounce jars of tomato sauce for a $1 each and two with basil for a $1 each, a top round roast for $1.99 a pound for $7.02 half price, a 2 pound bag of baby carrots for $2.99, fresh Chiquita bananas for .54 a pound for $1.72, and broccoli crowns  at $1.69 a pound for $2.42 for $18.15 total.  I then returned home.  I brought up my purchases.  I put them away.  I converted with a serrated knife and the CuisineArt the 3.5 pound top round roast into 1 inch chunks of beef that I ground into 7 eight ounce hamburgers that I hand formed, and then I double bagged them in carrots bags, and I froze them.  CIO

Note: <888> 02/22/08 Friday 5:50 P.M..  I ate some of the small Hershey chocolate bars.  I watched some local television, and conditions seem to be normal, and traffic is suppose to be moving, but there might be ice tonight when it gets colder.  Last night there was a bad accident on East Putnam Avenue by the Citgo station, and two young people were seriously injured.  I went outside again, and I checked the local environment, and the front entrance to the building is now cleaned off, but the sidewalks on the wings are still snow covered with a few inches of snow.  We use to have a snow blower here, but I did not hear the new building custodian using it today.   The new building custodian is from Mexico City, so I do not know how much he knows about cold weather maintenance, although he does an excellent job inside.  I left a message with my expert French Canadian friend who knows quite a bit about snow, but unless you pay him $400 a day, he is not available.  At least that is what he told me before.  However, when he worked here in Greenwich shoveling snow at Christ Church, he was only paid $400 a week.   I guess up in New London, Connecticut it is harder to find people whom know how to get rid of snow, since they must be government employees whom were moved up north from down south.  Sooner or later they will get it all cleared up, it generally takes a few days, and it all does not happen instantly.   Technically all of the snow can be removed from Greenwich Avenue in about four hours.  I once saw them remove about 2.5 feet of snow from Greenwich Avenue in that time, but that costs quite a bit of money, and it is like an invading army when they do it that way.  Maybe we will get a warm spell, and it will all melt quickly anyway.  I will now reheat one third of the remaining homemade fettuccini and alfredo sauce mixture, and I will eat it with a glass of iced tea and cold filtered water.  CIO  

Note: <888> 02/22/08 Friday 3:50 P.M..  I woke up at 6:30 A.M. this morning.  I checked the outside conditions, and there was about 5 inches of fresh powdered snow and still falling.  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with olive oil, orange and grape and cranraspberry juice with vitamins and supplements and coffee with milk and splenda sweetener.  I washed the breakfast dishes.   I made my bed.  I chatted with a relative and a friend.  I did my house cleaning, and I watered the plants which took about six hours.  I chatted with a relative twice.  I threw out the garbage and the old periodical literature.  I picked up mail.  I said hello to a neighbor.  I chatted with another relative.  I cleaned about 10 inches of snow off of my Audi.  There seems to have been a bit more snow, since I woke up.  The driveway is plowed, but there is still several inches of snow left on the sidewalks.  I parked the Audi in a plowed parking spot.  One is suppose to move one's car into cleared parking spots, so the Greenwich Housing Authority can plow the snow covered parking spots.  If they can not plow them, they can later turn to iced as the snow melts which can be dangerous.  It is a light powder snow, so it was easy to clean of the Audi.  I said hello to a neighbor.  I do not think it is worth taking a chance driving for a couple of days, since more than likely it could be hazardous, and currently there is no point trying to walk a snow covered Greenwich Avenue.  I have no indoor place to go when I leave the apartment besides the Greenwich Library, and I am sure it is closed today.  Greenwich, Connecticut has become so expensive a lot of my friends have moved out of the area through no fault of their own.  CIO     

Note: <888> 02/21/08 Thursday 11:45 P.M..  From what I know in the history books, Long Island is just one of the smaller Scott family farms in America.  All, I can tell from the south shore of Connecticut is that they're doing more than growing potatoes out there.  I have not been out there in about a year since the Microsoft conference in Hauppauge, Long Island at the Hyatt Hotel out there.  Long Island is so flat away from their north shore, it looks a lot like the Midwest, but it is warmer out there since it is surrounded by water.  Since the people I use to know from Long Island never contact me anymore, and since they are suppose to have southern connections down in Florida, more than likely they went south for the winter.  Since George Cary is originally from East Aurora, New York, he enjoys the warmer temperatures out there, although he has covered all of New York State for over 35 years.  In other words by now, if he has not run out of gasoline, he should be a somewhat experienced driver.  I do know he knows how to haul a horse trailer.  Basically they probably use the Union Pacific railroad to haul all of the New York State horse manure down to the White House if you get my drift.  I told somebody today at www.cvs.com on Greenwich Avenue with the cold weather temperatures with minimal energy I am facing in this area, I feel like voting for Jefferson Davis Jefferson Davis - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia for President.  I will now shut down my primary Vista computer, and I will go to bed soon.  I have relatives traveling tomorrow.  I finished off the opened jar of Planter's peanuts.  CIO

Note: <888> 02/21/08 Thursday 4:45 P.M..  When I got home this item was outside my door, tracking number is "Q11562100130" DHL | Global on the return RMA refurbished replacement on the extra Netgear FR114P router with print server.  I just tested it, and I upgraded its firmware, and I configured it.  It also came with a power supply too, so I have another extra power supply.  I put it with the other spare Netgear equipment behind the upper Rubbermaid hamper in the bedroom.  Thus I have three Netgear FR11P routers with print servers, and I also have three Netgear 16 port switches.  You have to remember the reality of Greenwich Avenue revolves around house wives shopping not computer nerds going about their own private business.  Obviously I know a bit about home computers.  In terms of the geopolitics in this area which some people forget is near New York City, I have some old time political connections in New York City from past political administrations whom may have settled out here after previous administrations instead of plucking off shrimp heads in Key West, Florida for the newest shrimp cocktails at the latest fashionable gatherings in Manhattan.  I see enough midtown Manhattan people out here of influence, I do not need to go into Manhattan looking for a job.  If they wanted me there, they could facilitate me going there.  Since I am a private citizen, I do not need to risk my car to go into Manhattan, where I can not afford to park anyway, and where I am really not too adept at dealing with all of the traffic there anymore.  Greenwich, Connecticut is busy enough for me too.  By visiting retired relatives elsewhere, I have learned to enjoy the quieter way of life that retired people live versus the more hectic life of the business community.  T-Mobil is also offering all you can talk on cell phones for $100 a month.  I told them they might make money off batteries, since when people particularly women chatted all of the time, they will need more reserve batteries for when their batteries become discharged.  I also chatted this morning with a young fellow from near Effingham, Illinois who had Illinois plates on his rental car.  I gave him a calling card too.  CIO

Note: <888> 02/21/08 Thursday 3:25 P.M..  I woke up at 5:30 A.M. this morning.  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with olive oil, orange and grape and cranraspberry juice with vitamins and supplements and coffee with milk and splenda sweetener.  I washed the breakfast dishes.   I made my bed.  I showered, and I cleaned up.  I went out, and I chatted with a neighbor.  I went downtown, and I went by CVS, and I bought a 12 pack of Thomas' English muffins for $1.99 and a 9.2 ounce bag of Hershey mini chocolate bars for .99 and .06 tax for $3.04 total.  Some of the 9 ounce bags of chocolates left over from Valentine's Day are on sale for .99 down from $2.99.  In World War II the soldiers use to give chocolate to starving civilians, so it much be good for them.  I then went downtown, and I used the bathroom at the Senior and the Arts Center.  I then walked lower Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.  I then went by the Merry Go Round Mews Thrift shop.  I gave one of my calling cards to one of my European cousins.  I then gave a calling card to the retired British citizen that I did not have one for before.  I then went by Zen stationary, and I bought a 24 Karat scratch card #29 for a dollar, and I won a dollar for no profit gained.  I then used the bathroom at the senior and the arts center.  I then walked upper Greenwich Avenue, and I stopped by the Greenwich Hardware store, and I gave one of their shop attendants a calling call.  They are out of the shower restrictor heads that I bought this past summer.  I looked at the their sink faucet adapters, but I do not want to try to fix my kitchen sink one, since it took me a long time to fix it as it is.  When the conservation people came around a couple of years ago, they sheared the threads on the existing faucet trying to install a flow restrictor aerator.  I suggest to John that they should invent "L" shaped plastic hook with two sided stickem tape on the upper side, so one could put it on the side of an LCD monitor to hang headphones or whatever.  I have never seen one around here.  I then went by CVS, and I bought the last three 9.75 ounce cans of Planter's Whole Cashew Nuts for $10 all.  They have one plastic aerator water restrictor adaptor that looks like it might work on my kitchen sink, but I do not want to take the chance it would not work, and it cost $8.  I then finished my walk.  I gave the shop proprietor at T-Mobil Cell Phones,Cellular Phone Plans,Prepaid Cell Phones,Free Cell Phones & Deals - Stick Together with T-Mobile one of my calling cards.  I then finished my walk, and I went by the Senior Center and Arts center, and I used my bathroom again.  I noticed two people training yellow labs downtown to be Guide Dogs for the Blind.  I know somebody who is blind downtown, but he only usually goes out in warmer weather with his Golden Retriever Guide dog.  I then went by the Greenwich Library, and I chatted with the www.xerox.com service person.  I chatted with a couple of their reference librarians.  I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I was given a free copy of the www.greenwichtime.com .  I bought a half gallon of Florida Natural orange juice for $3 and from the clearance shelf in the dairy section, I bought two packages of 4 inch by 6 inch Oxford Index cards for .50 each and a five pack of 25,000 Staples stables for $2.25 for $6.45 total.  I then returned home.  I chatted with a couple of neighbors.  I picked up my mail.  I put the staples and the index cards in the center living room desk drawer.  I thought I saw http://mikelouisscott.com/fred.htm downtown, but it must be a look a like, since he does not chat with me.  Maybe he does not recognize me, since when he was my neighbor up in Nantucket until 1983, I only weighed about 150 pounds.  Of course since Fred was 14th generation Dutch New York, he might have one or two relatives that look the same.  CIO

Note: <888> 02/20/08 Wednesday 8:00 P.M..  Last night before I went to bed, I noticed that the blue light bulb in the brass lamp in the southwest corner beneath Granddad Boven's portrait had burned out.  The blue light probably used more electricity anyway, so I put in a 13 watt Sylvania energy saving florescent bulb that puts out 60 watts of light, and I covered the lamp fixture with a shade, so there is not too much glare.  I turn it on in the living room, when I go to bed to use as a night light, so if I wake up at night, and I come into the living room area, I can see well enough.  Although we are suppose to save energy, we need to use enough, so our homes do not become a hazard.  In a small apartment, one has to be able to see well enough to navigate around at night.  If one trips a hospital bill would be much more expensive.  I also keep the small elephant light with a 20 watt bulb on the window ledge going in the living room at night.  I have another 13 watt florescent bulb going in the hallway bookcase book light.  I also have a standard 8 watt night light bulb going in the bathroom along with another 13 watt florescent bulb in a lamp in the bathroom.  I also have a 13 watt florescent bulb in the fixture going in the kitchen stove hood going after hours, and I also have a 8 watt red night light bulb in the kitchen.  You do the math, 13, 20, 13, 8, 13, 13, 8, or 88 watts going in lights after hours when I am asleep, and I also keep the FIC sever going which has a 425 watt power supply, but it is hard to tell how much electricity it uses for the motherboard, CPU, fans, etc.   Also the Cable modem, the router, and the network switch go all of the time, but they use minimal electricity.  Of course, when I work in the living room in low light conditions, I still have the primary Vista computer going with its four 55 watt monitors, and the 13 watt florescent bulb above it, and I usually keep the kitchen ceiling florescent light on which is about 60 watts, and when I smoke cigarettes by the kitchen stove, I turn on the stove fan.  Also when I turn on the living room wall switch at the apartment entrance, I turn on the dolphin florescent light which uses about 25 watts, the three window ledge 13 watt fixtures, the four 25 watt sconces, the four 15 watt sconces, for a total of 224 watts to massively illuminate the living room along with the elephant night light that goes all of the time for 249 watts.  Of course turning on the high definition Sony 27 inch CRT television probably uses considerably more electricity, but I pay about $80 a month for high definition digital Optimum Cablevision television, so occasionally I like to watch it for relaxation.  I have the internet to see what goes on in the world.  I am educated, so I do not need television commentators explaining the news to me.  Also the refrigerator and the hot water tank go a good deal of the time.  I use only the stove top burners, and I used the microwave oven and the convection oven for my other cooking needs.  I have not been using the electric heat in the apartment recently to save money, but I do occasionally turn on the DeLonghi oil filled radiator for a short spell to take the chill out of the air in the living room, when I first wake up.  I also do not take a hot shower and clean up every day to save on energy.  I have a shower restrictor head installed to save on hot water.  I also use as little water as possible in cleaning up in the kitchen, which means I do not run the water very fast, and I do not leave it running when I am using it.  I use antibacterial dish washing detergent to keep the dishes clean that I was with a dishwashing detergent scrubber wand.  CIO

Note: <888> 02/20/08 Wednesday 6:45 P.M..  I lived in Florence, Italy for the first three months of 1972, when I was not traveling around southern France, Spain and Lanzarote.  I learned a bit about Italian cooking.  Italians do not use store bought dried pasta, but they make their own pasta at home.  Rich Italians can afford pasta machines.  I happen to own a Simac pasta machine which I bought for $12.50 in the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop for half price about six years ago.  I guess the busy Greenwich people do not have the time to make their own home made pasta.  I set it up, and I used the thin fettuccini blade, and I mixed a pound of old flour and four fresh beaten large jumbo eggs and a couple of tablespoons of water, and I followed the instructions for a total mixing and kneading time of seven minutes, until the mixture was in walnut size chunks.  I then opened the feeder slot, and I make about 1.3 pounds of 10 inch long thin fettuccini noodles which I fed into a large metal mixing bowl turning the bowl, so the pasta would not all lump together.  I cut the pasta as it came out of the machine with a sharp knife.  I then set it aside to sit for about an hour.  I chatted with a relative.  I cleaned the pasta machine which takes quite a bit of time, and one has to make sure the die cast for the pasta is cleaned, so it is not plugged in the future.  A vegetable brush was handy for cleaning the pasta machine parts.  I put about six quarts of water in a two gallon Revere pot, and I brought it to a boil, and I added a tablespoon of sea salt and a tablespoon of olive oil.  I took a 15 ounce jar of Bertolli Alfredo sauce with aged parmesan cheese, and I put it in a two quart heavy duty pot with lid, and I added 3/4ths of a stick of butter in pads, about four tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, seasoning it generously with garlic powder about a half teaspoon, about 1/8th of a teaspoon of ground black pepper, 1/8th of a teaspoon of chicken bouillon powder, two tablespoons of bacon bits, and about a 1 tablespoons of Italian seasoning.  I mixed it all together, and I heated it over medium heat covered for about 10 minutes mixing it occasionally.  With the big Revere pot of water boiling, I slowly added the home made fettuccini to keep the water boiling by adding it slowly, and I constantly stirred it for four minutes to cook it, until it was al dente.  I then strained it in a colander, and I added it to a large metal mixing bowl, and I poured the Alf redo sauce over it, and I mixed it all together thoroughly with a large wooden spoon.  I then added twice about a fourth of a cup of grated parmesan cheese, and I mixed it all together each time, and for the last mixing I added about one tablespoons of dried parsley, and I mixed it all together.  I ate about one sixth of it with a glass of 50% cold filtered water and 50% iced tea, and I refrigerated the remaining fettuccini Alfredo in a large flat Rubbermaid container.  Home cooking when one has the time takes a bit of time.  CIO 

Note: <888> 02/20/08 Wednesday 2:15 P.M..  I did some routine computer work.  I chatted with a local security group about internet security.  I was given the email address mailto:secenter@microsoft.com for matters relating to Microsoft Security.  I emailed some associates about the fact that it appeared my primary Vista computer had been tampered with and what I think is behind it.  It has nothing to do with anyone locally as far as I know.

From my perspective, it is the nature of being Bush family neighbors elsewhere, I might have attracted the curiosity of the local KGB.

If they want to pursue some of my Maine volunteer activities in the summer, I am not too sure they will be too excited after having come all the way over here.   Maybe they should read some of my previous summer vacation notes, when I am just having private family visits.

I went downstairs, and I picked up my mail.  I said Good Morning to some neighbors.

I received an Identity Theft brochure from www.usps.com , and it mentioned one can get a Free Credit Report at www.annualcreditreport.com , so I applied, and I selected Equifax, and since I have never really had much money in my life, and since I have hardly ever bought anything on credit, I do not really have any credit history except one inquiry from Sprint, which I do not use. 

About the Smartest person I would occasionally chat with downtown has passed away Greenwich Time Patrick J. Hughes.  Whenever I chatted with him about something that was on my mind, he seemed to know a lot more about it than the average person.  When I was about to have my hernia operation, he gave me a blow by blow description about what it would be like.

Note: <888> 02/20/08 Wednesday 6:55 A.M..  I do computer systems analysis work as a retired volunteer on the internet along with compiling the volcanology directory.  From what I know we have had a warmer winter this winter, because of the reports last year of increased solar flare activity.  However, I have a theory that increased solar flare activity causes the Earth's core to be bombarded with increased neutrons and electrons which causes increased tectonic activity on the Planet Earth making it a bit colder if volcanoes erupt.  On my primary Vista computer this week, I do not seem to being hacked or not getting the Vista Computer Systems Blue Screen crash.  It is probably a local hacker is away on vacation this week, because the Greenwich, Connecticut schools are on vacation.  It could also be a hardware settings change in that I changed three settings in my CMOS. Note: <888> 02/19/08 Tuesday 5:20 P.M..  Well,  I ate 2/5th of a 16 ounce jar of Planter's Dry Roasted lightly salted peanuts.  Well not much happening around here as far as I can tell.  I had a quieter day at home which most older people seem to enjoy instead of dealing with a lot of people moving around aimlessly in traffic.  It one wants to get out for a change, you could park you car outside in the driveway and use some sort of space heating electrical device to keep one's self warm inside it, and one could just sit inside the car and pretend that one was traveling around without using gasoline.  Of course, you would have to have a long enough extension cord to reach into the car.  Also space heaters can be dangerous depending on the type that one chooses to use.  There are safer more modern ones.  I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go to bed soon.  I wanted them to install a heated solarium here, so one could sit outside in comfort in the winter, but I guess with the price of fuel anymore, solariums are a thing of the past.  In ski resorts, they bundle up warmly, and they sit outside in the sun in the daytime.  If one gets a bit of sun in the winter, it tends to raise one's dopamine level, and one tends to feel better.  Here is a nice solarium http://mikelouisscott.com/mlsparis.jpg.  Of course France which nobody pays any attention to happens to be 80% nuclear energy, so they happen to have a bit of spare generating capacity.  CIO

Note: <888> 02/19/08 Tuesday 2:35 P.M..  I ate the same dinner as the last five nights.  I watched a television movie about the development of Oklahoma in the old days.  I received the UPS: Tracking Information, the Netgear FS116 16-Port 10/100 Mbps Fast Ethernet Switch: FS116NAR JustDeals.com Inc. for $22.95 and $1.95 shipping for $24.90.  I stacked it with the two Netgear Router boxes and the other box with the old Netgear switch behind the upper Rubbermaid hamper in the bedroom.  Not much seems to be going on around here anymore.  I guess the more affluent types that do not smoke cigarettes sit in Starbucks on Greenwich Avenue watching the world go by, but having observed Starbucks on Greenwich Avenue, since it first opened about 10 years ago, I am not sure if it will be able to survive with the higher prices of fuel preventing the more affluent coffee drinkers from spending a small fortune to drive downtown just to have a cup of coffee.  They are not a very chatty group there, since about the only thing that seems to happens there is some people take the time to read the www.nytimes.com there to see if there is anything worthwhile going on in the world.  It is sort of hard to figure out what people do before and after their Starbucks experience.   I think they like to be seen out in public in the center of town, because there are two other Starbucks on this side of town, and they are not nearly as busy.  Since I only drink one cup of coffee a day, I am not in tune with people whom drink a lot of coffee, which some people seem to do.  William Morris wrote in Ronald Reagan's memoir "Dutch" that the first thing Ronald Reagan was told by his doctor when he became President was that he would live longer if he drank decaffeinated coffee.  CIO

Since with all of the people that keep pets in Greenwich, we have a local business that caters to supplying pet products Welcome to the Pet Pantry Warehouse!.  In back country there are even more pet.  At the Stop and Shop in the Glenville area of Greenwich which is nearer to back country one whole aisle is devoted to pet foods, so there must be a lot of pets in back country that the locals on Greenwich Avenue never take notice of.  Frequently the locals on Greenwich Avenue think the back country people spend a lot of time downtown, but since the back country people know how to drive cars for lack of public transportation, they also tend to shop around the area for better bargains than what is frequently found available on Greenwich Avenue.  Also it is the nature of living in Back Country Greenwich, they tend to be able to afford gasoline, so more than likely they would be shopping at the two www.walmart.com stores in Norwalk, Connecticut or the www.costco.com store in Port Chester, New York or Norwalk, Connecticut.  Back Country people tend to have larger homes, so they can also afford to buy in bulk and have plenty of room to store items in bulk.  The people whom live in smaller apartments in the downtown Greenwich area and commute frequently do not have cars, and they frequently do not have the time to shop around the neighboring areas, so they are only left with the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop, the local grocery stores, and the local www.cvs.com .  As far as computer technology is concerned, more than likely back country people can afford the internet, so they can also afford to shop around for computer technology.  However with the cost of shipping versus gasoline from what I know the people making money off the internet are the various shippers which seem to be extremely active in this area.  However, the energy companies are making money off supplying the fuel for the various shippers.  Thus it depends on what one is shopping for, and what market pressures come to play in the local economy.  I noticed at Tod's Point last Sunday, nobody has been able to afford to go out there to spread bird seed around to feed the birds in the southwest parking area.  Also not many people can afford to drive down on Steamboat Road to enjoy the view of Long Island Sound anymore.  Our local airport seems to be busy out at Westchester County airport or White Plains, New York, so plenty of people can still afford to get away for travel experiences.  The local artist community has art galleries at the Senior and the Arts Center, the Greenwich Library, and the Bruce Museum, so we have a bit of art for culture vultures.  However, Greenwich Avenue seems to cater to female shoppers, so it is fashion conscious, and it does not like to see computer gurus out in blue jeans smoking cigarettes enjoying the ambience of the Starbucks fashion crowd.    Having observed Greenwich Avenue for 24 years, a lot of the early morning commuters looked like they slept in their work clothes, or in other words, they do not have time to do laundry and dry cleaning, so they mostly wear ready to wear stay press and sneakers, since they walk a bit in commuting.  The local bankers seem to wear thread bear suits, so although they work in a bank, they would not catch much attention on Fifth Avenue or where ever the New York business community shops.  Of course a thrifty banker might be better at keeping track of money as opposed to one reading Esquire magazine.  I have learned to save a bit of money by not using the electric heat in my apartment this winter, but we have been having a warmer winter this winter.  More than likely with the warmer winter, we might also have a hotter summer, so possibly since I have the keep the apartment at least cool down to 78 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer for keeping the computer equipment cool enough, more than likely I might have higher air conditioning bills this summer offsetting my winter heating savings.  CIO

Note: <888> 02/18/08 Monday 3:45 P.M..  I straightened up the food items in the bookcase food pantry in the kitchen http://mikelouisscott.com/inventory.htm and http://geocities.com/mikelscott/inventory.htm .  I took the two remaining boneless breasts of chicken, and I rinsed them underneath cold water, and I dried them with a paper towel.  I rubbed olive oil inside a Pyrex pie baking dish, and I then put the chicken breasts in it the Pyrex dish, and I seasoned the boneless chicken breasts with ground black pepper, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and I then spread a generous amount of Kraft barbeque sauce on them.  I did this to both sides.  I scrubbed two medium large potatoes under cold water with a vegetable brush, and I pricked them three times with a fork on each of four sides, and I baked them on one baked potato cycle in the GE microwave oven.  I then put them in the Pyrex dish with the chicken.   I baked it all in the Farberware convection oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 35 minutes.  I put an inch of water in a two quart Revere pot with steamer tray, and I put about a cup of baby carrots and broccoli crowns in the pot with lid on, and I steamed them over medium high electric burner heat for the last 15 minutes of the chicken baking cycle.  I put the drained vegetables in a dish with a little bit of olive oil on them.  I put a piece of chicken on a dinner plate with a baked potato, and I poured half of the juices on the chicken, and I put the other piece of chicken in a flat Rubbermaid container with the remaining juices along with the other baked potato, and I refrigerated it with a lid.  I put three pads of butter on the baked potato, and I ate it all with a glass of iced tea.  I will now go through my email.  I threw out the old small 4 ounce can of Amour Vienna Sausages, which are probably too old.  CIO

Note: <888> 02/18/08 Monday 1:00 P.M..  I did a Vista Complete  PC backup from the first hard drive to the second hard drive.  I did a Vista Complete PC backup from the first hard drive to the Bytecc external hard drive.  I watched some television while doing the backups.  It is my professional and legal point of view that with the large influx of visitors that the town of Greenwich, Connecticut seems to draw daily, although we do not have much in the way of tourists facilities, that despite the lobbying of the local vendors in the downtown area, that the people whom actually live here do have legal rights to go about their own private business without being bothered by the over curious general public.  From what I know there are a lot of writers in this area because of the large number of publishing families that live in this area.  However, whether there is any substance to what they are constantly writing about is frequently opened to debate.  Some of the more notable families live elsewhere in this area, and their towns are not nearly as busy with visitors.  Thus because Greenwich, Connecticut is convenient to local public and private transportation facilities, we get more than our share of visitors.   Since I do not watch much public televised media in this area, I have no knowledge of any so called celebrities or other types of individuals that might attract the general public's attention.  However, it all tends to use up a lot of the public services that the local tax payers pay for, and frequently do not get much chance to use themselves.  CIO

Note: <888> 02/18/08 Monday 11:05 A.M..  I did some routine systems maintenance on the Epox backup computer, and it seems to be all running just fine.  I did the maintenance on both partitions.  I am currently running Vista Server 2008 on the FIC server for a change.  Nobody is really interested in the content of my server, so nobody really ever looks at it, except a few search engines occasionally draw people to my server.  From what I know which is not much, there would not be any military or NASA reason for operating the USNS Kingsport (T-AG-164) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia off the north shore of Long Island on Long Island sound.  Ever the various government agencies including the military are controlled by various groups of politicians whom always seem to be in need of money.  Thus they could possibly be using the Kingsport to eavesdrop on Satellite communications of the local financial communities to enrich their pockets for future political endeavors.  That is about the only motive, I would see for using the KIngsport in this area.   I ate two bowls of goldfish crackers.  CIO

Note: <888> 02/17/08 Sunday 8:25 P.M..  After dinner, I made a round of telephone calls to family and associates.   From what I can remember, the military type vessel I saw at 9:15 A.M. this past morning off of Tod's Point off the North Shore of Long Island was about three sand barges long or about 500 to 600 feet long.  It was configured like a low slung Navy frigate without much bridge work.  It was lower in the water than a frigate.  It was painted a dark grey of black not Navy grey.  On the back fourth of it on the stern was a large white geodesic type dome which was white about 50 to 100 feet in diameter.  It was moving from East to West at about 20 to 25 knots.  With the large geodesic type dome on it, I do not think it would be very sea worthy in a high wind at sea.  Thus possibly it is some sort of mobile radar water surface or microwave sending station.  Maybe it is being brought down into this area for maintenance.  Possibly since Bill Gates owns 25% of General Dynamics up in New London, Connecticut, it is something that he had them build for communications purposes.  I would say it was off shore of the north shore of Long Island, so I think it would have been 17 miles south of me at Tod's Point.  Nobody in my network of waterfront observers seem to know what it was.  I checked on both coasts and down south too.  Of course, I don't have a very large network.  Possibly it was from some foreign Navy on reconnaissance here to see if any people still live in this area anymore.  It has me stumped.

Note: <888> 02/17/08 Sunday 12:55 P.M..  I went out after the last note.  I scraped the frost off my Audi.  I chatted with a neighbor.  I went by the Chase ATM machine on Mason Street.  I then drove out to Tod's Point the southwest parking area, and I walked around the southwest picnic area.  I then drove over to the southeast parking area, and I used the bathroom at the concession area.  I chatted with somebody walking a Basset Hound.  I chatted with a fellow that is trying to get people to adopt grey hound dogs in this area, and he has a local web site that I can not remember.   I chatted with somebody from the Netherlands, and I gave them one of my calling cards.  I saw a large 500 foot long military type ship in dark grey or black cruising along the north shore of Long Island going east to west.  It was too far away to tell what type of ship it was, but it had a large radar dome on the rear of the ship.  It is the first large military ship I have seen on Long Island Sound in 24 years, besides the smaller Coast Guard vessels.  Of course at 20 miles distance, it is hard to tell what sort of ship it was anyway.  I then went over to Staples in Old Greenwich, and I bought three Microsoft wireless 4000 mouse and keyboard sets Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 4000 at Staples® for $14.98 each, a 100 pack of slim jewel DVD/CD cases for $14.99 Staples® CD/DVD slim jewel cases, 100/pack , and three Playo 60 pack DVD/R for $4.98 each Staples Weekly Ad Playo DVD media, 60/pack and $4.49 tax for $79.36 total.  I then drove downtown, and I sat out briefly.  I chatted with a Senior Center computer person.  I chatted with a local British citizen, whom I have chatted with before.  I then returned home.  I chatted with a Canadian neighbor.  I brought up my purchases.  I will put the jewel cases underneath the dining table to the left of primary Vista computer CPU.  I store the DVD/R disks on the floor underneath the primary Vista computer keyboard.  I removed the Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse set from the FIC server, and I hooked up the Microsoft 4000 keyboard and mouse to the FIC server.  I still have to install its drivers.  I installed the mouse plug into a USB port, which the wireless mouse system seems to work better with than the PS/2 port with USB to PS/2 adapter.  Thus I will be a bit low on funds the next two weeks, but I do not have much to do.  I with install another Microsoft 4000 wireless keyboard and mouse on the Northgate Syntax backup computer, and I will move the Logitech system to the old Dell L1000R system in the bedroom.  I will save the third Microsoft 4000 wireless keyboard and mouse set for backup.  It will take a bit of time to finish setting them up.  CIO

Note: <888> 02/16/08 Saturday 8:45 A.M..  I went out after the last note.  I went by the Central Greenwich Post Office, and I mailed the redetermination form to the Social Security Administration www.ssa.gov .  I noticed there are quite a few post offices boxes for rent at the central Greenwich Post Office.  They used to be hard to get, but I guess with the higher price of fuel, people are not driving downtown to pick up their mail.  I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue, and the train station area.  I chatted with the baker from St. Moritz.  I picked up two new Metro North train schedules that start March 1, 2008.  I went by the ATM machine at the Chase Bank in central Greenwich Avenue.  I also walked over to the Chase Bank on Mason street, and I also used their ATM machine which had receipts, where as the central Greenwich Avenue branch was out of receipts.  After my walk, I used the bathroom at Starbucks.  I then went by the Greenwich Automotive Services Exxon gasoline station, and I put $7.01 of self service premium unleaded gasoline in the tank filling the Audi full at $3.799 a gallon for 1.845 gallons for 20.6 miles driving since last Sunday at odometer setting of 59569 for 11.1653 miles per gallon.  I checked the air on the tires for 32 PSI.  I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought two six packs of Thomas' English muffins for $2 each six pack, two 16 ounce jars of Planter's Dry Roasted peanuts lightly salted for $2 each jar, two 13.5 ounce reduced fat boxes of Cheez-Its for $2.50 each, Chiquita bananas at .54 a pound for $1.47, and a bulb of garlic for $2.99 a pound for .42 for $14.89 total.  I chatted with two of the night people from the West Putnam Avenue Shell station.  I then returned home, and I chatted with a neighbor.  I put away my groceries.  According to tracking of "03071790000452150271" at www.usps.com , the Netgear FR114P router RMA was received yesterday morning at their facility in Memphis, Tennessee.   The Greenwich Publics Schools are suppose to be out all this coming week.  CIO

Note: <888> 02/15/08 Friday 7:05 P.M..  I configured the Northgate Syntax backup computer with Vista SP1 RTM.  It is good for 120 days until it expires.  I did not put the Real Basic Player on it or AOL, since, they are not needed.  I had my apartment inspection at 11:45 A.M..  The inspector told me, I need to have my sink faucet replace, since the aerator sprays a bit.  I picked up my mail, and I chatted with some neighbors.  On the primary Vista computer, I uninstall Vista SP1 RC2 Revision 2.  I then installed the six updates first, but this time I installed them two at a time rebooting before each pair, and after they were installed I install Vista SP1 RTM through Windows Update.   It took a while, but it is all installed and running fine on the computer.  I ate the same dinner as last night.  I did a Complete PC backup from the first hard drive to the second hard drive.  I then did a complete PC backup from the first hard drive to the Bytecc external hard drive.  Earlier I chatted with a relative.  I watched some television while doing the backups including a program about volcanoes in the Andes.  CIO

Note: <888> 02/15/08 Friday 8:15 A.M..  I was able to download as a beta tester the full install of X86 English Vista SP1 RTM, and I burned it to two DVDs.  I am currently installing it on the Northgate Syntax backup computer.  I also uninstalled on the primary Vista computer Vista SP1 RC2 Revision 2, however the Windows update to download Vista SP1 RTM Windows Update site is too slow at the moment to try to install the Update.  My problem with the Update when it came out two nights ago might have been I first tried to install the full download update instead of trying just trying to install the Windows Update first.  Thus possibly the full download update might have prevented the Windows Update for Vista SP1 RTM from working properly.  I moved my Mongoose Mountain bike to the back of the Audi, so when I am inspected today the apartment will seem a little bit more spacious.  I will also move the clothes off the hallway hooks to make it look more spacious.  I turned on the DeLonghi oil filled radiator, so there is a bit more heat in the apartment.  I will now eat a bowl of goldfish crackers, and then I will shower and clean up.  CIO

Note: <888> 02/15/08 Friday 2:40 A.M..  I gave one of my calling cards to one of the Aga Khan's dog breeders at the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop who breeds King Charles Spaniels http://mikelouisscott.com/agakhan01.jpg .  After the last note, I showered, and I cleaned up.  I went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop.  They still have books there, but they moved them to the northwest corner of the main room.  I saw a friend of Bill Gates there.  I then went to my usual 3 P.M. appointment.  I saw someone coming out of my usual 3 P.M. appointment who looks like a well known television personality from Texas.  I then went downtown, and I sat out at the Senior and the Arts center for a while.  I then went by the Greenwich Library, and I chatted with a couple of the staff members.  I then returned home.  I picked up my mail.  I chatted with a relative.  I filled out a form from the Social Security Administration www.ssa.gov for the annual review of my S.S.I. disability income which is routine after 24 years, and I will mail it the next time, I go out.  I went to bed about 6:30 P.M..  I woke up at midnight.   I ate breakfast of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted bagel with olive oil, orange and grape and cranraspberry juice with vitamins and supplements and coffee with milk and splenda sweetener.  I washed the breakfast dishes.   I made my bed.  I chatted with an associate.  I threw out the old periodical literature.  I watered the plants.  I have the Greenwich Housing Authority annual Section 8 inspection of my apartment at 11:45 A.M. today, so I will have to have the place presentable.  I will leave the bicycle in the apartment, since it is part of the normal appearence.  However, last year I took down the long underwear hanging in the hallway, and I tucked it over on the far side of the bed.  It is warm enough in my apartment currently without using any electric heat, and it is currently 66.9 degrees Fahrenheit in the apartment.  I will now go through my email.  CIO

Note: <888> 02/14/08 Thursday 12:30 P.M..  I renewed the Vista business book.  It is now due March 6, 2008.  I have a 3 P.M. appointment.  However, I have been up since 8 P.M. last night with a three hour nap, so I will wait until after 1 P.M. to get ready to go out for my appointment.  Not much seems to be happening locally.  With the higher price of fuel, we are not getting as many visitors from the neighboring towns.  I suppose more people are staying at home, and since it is winter that is normal.  It is better to use the energy to stay warm at home than to travel around aimlessly just to get out of the house.  If one is stuck at home, there are plenty of books to read from the local library.  Most people in Greenwich have houses full of books, so there is no shortage of reading material in this town.  The Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop use to have a large selection of books, but I have not noticed any recently.  I guess people whom are orientated towards used fashion are not interested in books.  The Greenwich Hospital thrift has changed so much over they years that I have a hard time remembering what it last looked like.  Possibly the foreign help working in the Greenwich Hospital thrift shop do not like books in English.  Once you get this far up north, books in English tend to be very important, if you want to get ahead in the world around you.  I have read so many books in my life, I sometimes think I have forgotten more than I will ever learn.  CIO 

Note: <888> 02/14/08 Thursday 12:05 P.M..  I put a new blue toilet tablet in the toilet tank.  I chatted with a relative.  I fried four strips of bacon, and I toasted two slices of toast that I put butter on, and I made a three egg omelet that I put four .25 inch by 1.25 inch by 1.25 slices of Vermont extra sharp cheddar cheese on, along with three half inch by 3/8th inch by 2.5 inch strips of 1/3rd less fat Philadelphia cream cheese inside along with grated parmesan cheese inside.  I ate it all with a glass of iced tea.  CIO 

Note: <888> 02/14/08 Thursday 9:55 A.M..  I ate a handful of dry roasted peanuts.  I ate the last 13 dried apricots.  I threw out some garbage.  I said good morning to a neighbor, and I told the neighbor that the price of oil is up $7 a barrel.  A local peace demonstrator downtown who also lives in San Antonio, Texas says that oil is going to $150 a barrel.  From what I know OPEC sets the world wide oil prices, but that also depends on the what the Commodities Exchange or the Futures Markets does in Chicago, Illinois in terms of the Futures Contracts on oil.  Thus there are a number of variables in the price of oil besides the supply of oil from Venezuela.  Since www.exxon.com had its properties confiscated in Venezuela, they are successfully suing in the courts against the Communist government of Venezuela to seize Venezuelan assets in other countries to compensate them for their losses.  Apparently Venezuela owns oil refineries in the Unites States that can be seized.  They need their own oil refineries to process the heavy type of crude that comes from Venezuela.  Thus it is a more complex story than the television frequently broadcasts.  There is still a lot of airline traffic in the area, but with the higher prices of fuel, nobody seems to pay much attention to the large amount of debt the airlines have accumulated, so many of them are close to bankruptcy, and since they are in debt, the maintenance on the jets is probably not up to the standards of what it should be if the airlines had more money.  CIO

Note: <888> 02/14/08 Thursday 8:35 A.M..  When you write a web log or any other form of written communications, one is suppose to write from one's own experience, and not mimic another writer's form of writing.  Of course that depends, if you know how to write, and it is helpful if you know how to type on the keyboard.  Since I have read a lot in my life with a focus on computer tech news in the last 15 years, it is not to difficult to incorporate my previous life experiences into my writing.  Back in the period during the winter of 1977 and 1978, when I was down in Key West, Florida, I would spend most mornings at the Key West Monroe County Library reading the New York Times, and I also would read Popular Mechanics and Popular Science, and some of the general reading available in the small periodical reading room in that small library.  Thus in my period in Key West, Florida, I tended to be associated with the local library.  Since I did not have access to a car, I did not make it out much to the Florida Keys Community College - Island Living, Island Learning! (305) 296-9081, which I suppose also had a library.   However, in my daily routine, I saw plenty of their students around town.  I use to call it Flipper's Sea School.  Of course I am not very good in the ocean, so other than going to the local beaches, I did not spend any time out on the water, which I suppose if one lived in Key West, and could afford a boat, one might be tempted to do so.  However, one would tend to get too tanned, which could lead to skin cancer in later life.  However, there was a large cross section of hats available on the island.  In Nassau in the Bahamas, they have the straw market with lots of different types of straw hats to cover one's head.  Since Key West is where Pan American airlines first started flying to Havana, Cuba, more than likely there is still a group of experienced flight personnel down there.  However, even in Greenwich, we have nearby airports and community colleges, but I mostly spend a lot of my time maintaining my own personal apartment and computer setup which takes quite a bit of time on a minimal income.  Back in 1982 when I was last down in Key West, Florida they took a picture of me sunbathing in my red, yellow, and blue bathing suit on the Clarence Higgs Beach pier with the Casa Marina Key West Hotel Resorts & Florida Keys Beach Accommodations - Casa Marina Resort Key West in the back ground.  They told me, they were going to use it for advertising the hotel.   Of course today, I am considerably heavier, and I do not go out in the sun too much anymore, since I have been getting black spots on my back from all of the years in the sun.  Of course, one could sleep all day in Key West which some people do, and go out an enjoy the night life at night to avoid the sun.  A lot of people that work in the resort areas of Key West, Florida actually live on the other islands further up the Florida Keys, and I recall quite a few of them lived in Marathon, Florida, which had more of a traditional Florida lifestyle as opposed to the Resort sort of lifestyle of Key West, Florida.  CIO

Note: <888> 02/14/08 Thursday 8:00 A.M..  After the last note, I opened up the package of six boneless chicken breasts, and I put four of them in a large flat Rubbermaid container.   I then rinsed off the other two in cold water, and I dried them with a paper towel.   I then put a thin coat of olive oil in a Pyrex pie dish, and on a separate plate, I rubbed the bottom side of the boneless chicken breast with olive oil, and then I seasoned them with garlic powder, ground black pepper, and Italian seasoning, and I spread a thick coating of Progresso Italian bread crumbs on it, and then I did the same with the top side and the other boneless chicken breast.   I then put them in the Pyrex pie dish, and I baked them in the Farberware convection oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 35 minutes.  I also put in the Pyrex pie dish two medium large potatos that I had scrubbed with a vegetable brush underneath cold water, and then I pricked them three times on four sides with a fork, and then I microwaved them on on potato cycle in the General Electric microwave oven.   For the last 15 minutes, I put an inch of water in a Revere 2 quart pot with steamer tray and lid, and I added 1.5 cups of baby carrots and broccoli crowns, and I steamed them on medium high electric burner heat for 15 minutes.  I put the cooked chicken breast and baked potato in a flat Rubbermaid container in the refrigerator.  I ate it all with a glass of iced tea.  I did a Vista Complete PC backup from the first hard drive to the Bytecc external hard drive.  I rested for a few hours.  I am making up a batch of Formula One http://mikelouisscott.com/icetea.htm .  CIO

Note: <888> 02/13/08 Wednesday 12:05 P.M..  Earlier this morning, I chatted with a friend.  I just ate 10 dried apricots.  There was not much traffic today with all of the rain.  Well, at least it was not snowed.  In terms of Greenwich, Connecticut, it really does not have much relevance to national politics except the Rockefeller and Bush families as far as I know.  Mostly it is banking and financial people.  I do know that Tom Watson was Jimmy Carter's ambassador to Russia.  Also Ken Rush was Nixon's ambassador to France.  Arthur Watson, I think was Jerry Ford's ambassador to France.  Rush Stapleton is Bush's ambassador to France.  I think Frank Shakespeare was Reagan's ambassador to the Vatican.  Also Frank Pace was Eisenhower's Secretary of the Army. Jim Warburg was Roosevelt's Undersecretary of the Treasury.  I think another Treasury Secretary also lived here under the Clinton administration, possibly named Reuben.  I do not pay much attention to politics, since I am not a lawyer, and politics seems to mostly involve lawyers whom are basically lobbyists working both sides of the tracks.  Also Herbert Hoover's son lived here.  I will now file a beta bug report on my latest Vista SP1 RTM update attempt.  CIO

Note: <888> 02/13/08 Wednesday 11:25 A.M..  I weighed myself before I got in the shower a couple of days ago, and I now weigh 202 pounds.  Since the last note, I ate 10 dried apricots, two bowls of goldfish crackers, and 2/5th of a jar of Planter's Lightly salted dry roasted peanuts.   I downloaded the Vista SP1 RTM updates, and I burned them to DVD.  I then uninstalled Vista SP1 RC2 Revision 2, and when I tried to install Vista SP1 RTM as an upgrade from the download, it would not install, and the same happened with the Windows download, so there must be a problem with it the previous three beta releases did not have.  I finally restored my backup with Vista SP1 RC1 Revision 2 from February 9, 2008, and restored the few changed files.  That all took a while.  I watched some television while doing the downloads.  I went out at 8:30 A.M., and I went by the Valley Road Post Office, and I shipped the Netgear router RMA package Priority Mail for $8.25 and .65 tracking for $8.90 total.  I then went by the ATM machine by the Chase Bank on Mason Street.  I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought a six pack of White Gem boneless breasts of chicken for $1.89 a pound for $8.86, a two pound bag of baby carrots for $2.99, broccoli crowns at $1.99 a pound for $2.45 and a 5 pound bag of Russet potatoes for $2.99 for $17.29 total.  I then returned home.  I chatted with a neighbor.  I put away my groceries.  Possibly I could try installing the new SP1 RTM by running "MSCONFIG", and then copying a list of my startup programs, and then deselecting them and rebooting, and then installing the Vista SP1 RTM, and once it is installed running "MSCONFIG", and reselecting the same startup programs.  With the first Vista SP1 beta, I was able to get it to work by that method.  CIO

Note: <888> 02/13/08 Wednesday 1:45 A.M..  I reheated the last of the defrosted steak stew in the General Electric microwave oven, and I ate with a glass of iced tea and the last piece of apple pie.  I will now go through my email.  I will go over to the Valley Road post office at 8:30 A.M. in the morning and mail the package.  Also, they might have some of the White Gem boneless breasts of chicken for $1.89 a pound at the Stop and Shop early in the morning.  When frequently on a night schedule, you have to make it out in the daytime for a few errands.  The Stop and Shop opens at 7 A.M..  I obviously have enough bread crumbs for the boneless breast of chicken rubbed with olive oil and coated heavily with seasoned Italian bread crumbs.  Since the New York area and the New England area together have about five million Italians, there is obviously some money to be made in Italian foods.  I think Stamford, Connecticut has an Olive Garden Italian Restaurant , and I have read the Greenwich Times obituaries Greenwich Time Death Notices for years, and the single largest number of people dying here seem to be Italians, so obviously a lot of Italians must live here, so possibly there is a market for a profitable Olive Garden restaurant.  Having lived in Italy, I know Italians do not eat pizza all of the time.  Vista SP1 RTM is available for me from the beta test site, so that will keep me busy for a while.  CIO     

Note: <888> 02/12/08 Tuesday 5:20 A.M..  Earlier I ate two bowls of goldfish crackers.  I just reheated half of the remaining steak stew, and I ate it with a glass of iced tea.   I have the last two issues of www.forbes.com that I still have to read.  Since the Forbes are Scottish they manage to keep their magazine afloat during hard times.  I am not sure if they pay their staff very much.  One of their writers I once met was a New York City taxi cab driver, so he may of heard some inside news off the streets while driving a taxi cab, but I am not sure how much he really knew about the real business world.  Just because you drive a taxi cab around Beekman place does not mean you know what the movers and shakers know.  Not much in the way for bottom fishing on the internet, and I can not afford to really buy anything else on the internet this month anyway.  I once read that Nelson Rockefeller watches every penny, and he sits up all night reading by a 15 watt light bulb, so he would think I am extravagent with all of the lights that I burn in this apartment at night.  I can to go to lower lights in the apartment, but I would not want to risk bumping into something and maybe hurting myself.  Somebody around this area puts on a big show about having a lot of money, but it never seems to come my way, so I guess it is just that local group of Broadway types that frequent this area hoping to get lucky.   From what I know, because I use to try to exercise walk a lot when I was out of the apartment, and I would try to put forth a presentable appearance, some of the local yokels think I am better financed than the reality of the situation.   Even though I did not go to www.harvard.edu , I know the most common job when people get out of Harvard is carpenter, so more than likely some of the local carpenters are better educated than some people realize.  When I worked as a carpenter, carpenters tend to talk all day, but when I worked as a painter, painters tend to listen to the radio all day.  Basically there is not much interest in computers in this area outside or wall street and publishing, since the cost of maintaining low paid computer staff in this area would be too high.  It obviously costs a lot of money for the established professionals to live in this area.  As a night person, I tend not to interact with the local daytime people, because I have heard it all before.  Remember in the old days, www.polaroid.com was sort of like www.microsoft.com .  It sort of makes me wander where Microsoft will be in another 20 years.  Technology does tend to change, and from what I know there would be a larger market for personal computers if they started up instantly, and one could interact with them instantly through vocal communications, however that would not be handy for busy offices with everyone chatting to their computers, so more than likely offices would have to be redesigned into sound proof cubicles or screaming rooms.  It would sort of be like 1984 and Big Brother.  Back in the old days of the Ninth Circle, there was a picture of Janis Joplin and Big Brother and the Holding Company.  My first interaction with computers when I came out of Boston in 1972 in the New York area was they day Ronald Reagan was shot, and I took a cab from the Greenwich Library with its Big Screen News Television going all of the time upstairs to Westchester County airport, and then after checking the news at the airport bar, and I caught a shuttle bus to the Pan AM Clipper Club at Kennedy airport, where I could relax comfortably and be available in case there was an emergency situation in terms of a Nuclear Alert, and the news kept showing Alexander Haig saying that he was in charge, and then it got quiet at the airport, and not much news was going on, so I happened to see a computerized table chess game in the Clipper Club lounge, so I spent the rest of the evening playing it, in case I had to be evacuated out of the country at a moment's notice, which was the way we were trained in terms of Nuclear Alerts in the old days of the Cold War.   Finally I called up my roommate in Manhattan, and I was told I better come back to General William Westmoreland's wife's family's town house in Manhattan at 315 West 74th street.  It was a rather busy day, when I first thought about moving back to Greenwich that day, and there was no room for me at the Y.M.C.A. where I left my bags while I was reading at the Greenwich Library.  Since half the people I dealt with in New York City were from this area, I did not expect to be treated like a stranger in this area, and in fact at the time my family was not living in Greenwich, Connecticut, but next to the police station in New Canaan, Connecticut.  I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go to bed soon.  CIO

Note: <888> 02/12/08 Tuesday 1:30 A.M..   We don't know much about what the Rockefellers do with all of their money, but we do know they make more money in cold weather off the extra energy that is consumed.  Once when I came out of Key West, Florida back around April 1977, I went out to Nantucket, and the Languedoc restaurant was not opened, so Ed Grennon the part owner had me clean up his bar Sister Kate's in Stowe, Vermont for a couple of weeks.  He told me he had rented the place for the season to somebody named Rock, and the place was a mess full of beer spilt over all of the carpets and it was a real pig sty, but I noticed when the lights were turned down at night, nobody probably even noticed.  The place smelled of old beer and cigarettes, but I do not know if the person named Rock was a Rockefeller or not.  We do know that Nelson Rockefeller went to www.dartmouth.edu , so he had some cold weather experience besides serving in the United States State Department in Latin America.  I have seen a lot of people over the years that look like him after he supposedly died, so with his worldwide network, he could be living privately elsewhere in the world, and just does not want to bothered by people outside his inner circle.  Of course he was not the oldest bother, and usually the oldest brother in families has a bit more money, so possibly his oldest brother John D. Rockefeller III who supposedly died in a car wreck in North Tarrytown around 1974 might even still be around, because I have seen people around whom also look like him.  One individual has given me the name John Van Buren, and he use to take his own garbage to the Greenwich dump in a small pull wagon behind his car on Saturday mornings, and another individual gave me the name as Bill Philips a lawyer, and he practices on Lafayette Place where my doctor banks at the Wachovia Bank.  I also saw somebody that looked like him at Christmas Time in 1974 starring at the north window of Tiffany's at 57th street and Fifth Avenue.  However there are a lot of old Dutch Yankees with that same look.  Bill Philips the last time I saw him was driving a new white SAAB sedan, and he almost ran into my car by the Shell station here in Greenwich at Sherwood Place.  He use to buy fish on Fridays on Greenwich Avenue at the Bonton Fish Market, which is a catholic habit, and from what I know the Rockefellers are not catholic, so more than likely it is just somebody that looked a bit like John D. Rockefeller III.  The same individual lived across the street from Chris Parizo's friend Paul in Old Greenwich, Connecticut, and I saw him around a small cottage there.  I think Chris' friend Paul's father was part of the French consulate in Manhattan who had also been stationed in Tunisia.  Whatever the real story it gets confusing, because a lot of political families when you don't hear about them for a while are frequently stationed overseas in diplomatic positions, so when one travels to those various countries, you might run into them at the various diplomatic posts around the world.  I will now go through my email.  CIO

Note: <888> 02/12/08 Tuesday 12:35 A.M..  Earlier today, before I went to bed, I ate the last 8 dried apricots in an opened can, and I also ate a piece of apple pie.  The diplomatic problem I have in this community is that my father worked for www.monsanto.com when we first moved here in 1961, and Stillman Rockefeller who was the Chairman of Citibank was also on the board of directors of Monsanto.  My father used to bank with Citibank unlike me, and he used their office at Grand Central terminal which was convenient for him to his midtown office in the Empire State Building.  I went to Greenwich Country Day with some of the Rockefeller, so I was raised like I was a Rockefeller, unfortunately I do not have their money.  Most of the people in the community know about the Rockefellers from the Greenwich Time and other local publications, but since they have been here a while they have a larger network of friends besides Monsanto.  They do not really trust me, because my father was frequently working in some of the Rockefeller companies in England, and the Irish and the Italians that live and work here do not trust the English, but they will take their money.  Thus from what I know since I know quite a few people in this area, I was told by my father Louis Dale Scott, when I moved off of Nantucket in December 1983 to move back to Greenwich and not the Harriman family estate in Sands Point, Long Island where George Cary lived which was the only telephone number I had when I arrived in Manhattan for about a month of being homeless in Toronto and Manhattan.   Thus from what I know I have a roof over my head, and I manage to make ends meet based on my experience and not the Rockefeller family experience.  However I knew one of Steven Rockefeller's family's nannies from over in North Tarrytown, New York, and apparently they are really cheap, and they would not even let the help have an egg out of the refrigerator, so I decided not to bother them too much.  Most of them are suppose to be republicans, but they deal with government through their lawyers, which they are suppose to have plenty of.  I know one of Nelson's sons used to visit over here in a Cadillac limousine with a school mate that lived on Pecksland Road here in Greenwich, so possibly other members of the North Tarrytown branch of the family have visited here before.  We once lived next to another Rockefeller family on Alpine road in Greenwich, but they did not like my friends that I knew here in Greenwich.  I have two friends from Manhattan and Sea Island, Georgia that I chat with regularly, and I also visit with about twice a year, and they use to work for Nelson Rockefeller, but they do not tell me very much.  As far as the British, I have been told by one part time British resident who worked for Swiss Air and collected Bing Crosby records and whom lived near Prescott Bush that I am suppose to keep doing what I do, and I am not suppose to know what goes on, and I am suppose to get a hair cut, when I can afford it.  Thus I manage to keep busy, but none of these so call influential contacts ever give me any money, and the only financial support I mostly get is from the United States Government and a minimal assistance from a family member that helps me with my computer activity and my cigarette habit.  As far as a I know most of the movers and shakers in this area are totally oblivious to me, and only the retired people and some of the younger people ever seem to even see me around.  George Cary as a state of New York employee has other political responsibilities, and we did not even know each other at Lake Forest College except for the term in Greece together since he was a recluse who road horses most of the time in college and did not take the same courses that I did.  I do know George Cary spent a lot of time around William McCormick Blair's Farm in Lake Bluff, Illinois, and Bill Blair was the head of the www.lfc.edu board of trustees and he was John F. Kennedy's ambassador to the Philippines and Denmark, and he was George Cary's father's roommate at www.harvard.edu and both Bill Blair and Charlie Cary were on the Board of Overseers for Harvard, and as far as I know both of them were professional lawyers.  Thus if you happen to see George Cary around a horse rack track, he is not going to give away anything his family friends and associates happen to own, and he has his own job to do that he is paid to do, and unless one wants to learn the horse business from the Stables on up, he probably can not help you out too much.  In other words, George Cary like Jim Eldert still know how to shovel horse manure today, if you get my drift.  I use to feed a horse in Decatur, Alabama for about two years, but as I have written before, when I moved here I could not afford to own horses, so I got involved in other activities like playing golf and tennis at the Greenwich Country Club.  Rich people since they own substantial properties tend to have a bit of help around, and they tend to focus on those activities they know about, and they frequently do not know anything about the family businesses.  I know the Rockefeller family off Glenville Road use to raise honey bees which is an important part of farming.  However, although I have relatives whom are farmers, all I ever did was tend about a 40 foot by 20 foot vegetable patch in Alabama which mostly had yellow waxed beans, cucumbers, various tomatoes, Swiss chard, carrots, and daffodils.  The daffodils grew very well in the old cotton seed hull pile that was on the property that was used for planting hedges and bushes.  CIO

Note: <888> 02/11/08 Monday 11:15 P.M..  The old Netgear switch that I replaced with the new one might have been causing my internet problems amongst other problems, so to be on the safe side, I ordered another new refurbished spare one Netgear FS116 16-Port 10/100 Mbps Fast Ethernet Switch: FS116NAR JustDeals.com Inc. for $22.95 and $1.95 shipping for $24.90 total.  Now I will have a spare one, and I also have the two new spare power supplies for them along with the spare Netgear Routers with print servers and the five spare power supplies for them too.  Since the Netgear Router with print server and the Netgear Switch run all of the time 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 12 months a year, year in and year out, they can wear out faster than some of the other less used components like the backup computers.  Of course the FIC server runs all of the time too, so I also have spare parts for it too.  CIO

Note: <888> 02/11/08 Monday 8:20 A.M..  I chatted with a relative.  I left a message with a friend.  Earlier I chatted with a local security department.   I will now try to get through my email.  Not that any special email ever come through, but it is part of my normal routine.  Everybody likes to be private anymore, and the head of my family does not know most of my friends that lost track of me, thus I am sort of in a diplomatic limbo in terms of the new people with Potomac fever.  Since I live in Greenwich, Connecticut, I deal mostly with the village idiots whom I see downtown all of the time, and not the out of town landlords like Bill Rockefeller whom seems to control the local banks from Rye, New York.  It would not be too hard for me to drive over there someday, and smoke a cigarette to see what comes back this way, but more than likely any relative of a Davidson might have family elsewhere in the country would be pleasantly amused.  Chris Parizo's 165 pounds in several years to 260 pounds living in New London, Connecticut doing building maintenance.  I guess the women at Christ Church in Greenwich, Connecticut did not have enough money to feed him properly, or because he was trying to learn German, they were not interested in feeding him.  I remember when he worked at Christ Church, he use to get food poisoning all of the time from food the Greenwich citizens donated to the church.  Alas Chris Parizo is part French Canadian Indian, so more than likely his bongo drums were used for some sort of American Indian communications which the high tech people in this area did not understand.  I do know the last time I chatted with him, he was trying to fix an Xbox whatever that is.  He use to repair computer motherboards, and his mother use to work in the clean rooms in Burlington, Vermont for www.ibm.com when they made the Intel 386 processor at that location, so that group of Vermont hippies whereever they are, are not as inept as you might think.  Also locally in this area, there is a group of people known as the Green Mountain Boys, and I am in constant communications with them.  Not much moves through the Green Mountains without them knowing about it.  They are sort of like Daniel Boone types of woodsmen who would not think it is very cold down here.    More than likely they are somewhere up north chowing down on Moose stew or whatever they happen to bag.  Chris Parizo growing up in Northeast Vermont is an expert hunter, but after one two many run ins with Mountain Lions, he moved out of the area, and he now lives near a military facility.  He did not do anything wrong as far as I can tell, but the United States government was not able to protect him from Mountain Lions in Vermont.  I told him about a few islands I knew of, where Mountain Lions generally do not show up, but he is like me, he likes looking at the ocean, he does not like being surrounded by it.  In other words, he is Land Hog.  I have a feeling he has a few other cleaver friends out of the north woods, and I can assure you he knew how to shovel snow, if we ever get any.  What he does with his income is none of my business.  I do know one thing, he is the only person besides one other friend that came down here after "911" to help out, when everyone else I knew seemed to have taken off.  Thus I remember him for that, and not for the fact that some former house wife in town did not like seeing him around, because she use to sleep with him, and she did not want her husband to know that.  I have a feeling that couple is long since gone.  Greenwich, Connecticut has a scandalous past, and the book "Payton Place" was written about Greenwich, Connecticut and also the book "The Winthrop Woman" .  From what I now that is why there are so many children in this town that keeps everyone busy so much of the time.  From my professional point of view Chris never did anything wrong in this area that any other youngster in this community has not done, so from my viewpoint I consider him innocent until proven guilty.  It was my professional viewpoint from the beginning, he was a relative of a government employee investigating us, and therefore the government always knows more and obviously has a bigger budget than the local Greenwich church.  If you want to tangle with the U.S. Government about half the population or more of this country is dependent upon the government, so there is no shortage of man power or women power.  Greenwich, Connecticut is like Italy, in that there are a lot of skinny men downtown whom everyone sees downtown and thinks are in the mafia, but alas there are so many big fat women in this town that one never sees downtown, the only confusion is what they do for a living where they can afford to be so fat.  The largest conspicuous fat women I knew in this town was a niece of Greta Garbo's named Regina Capone, and she use to work at the desk at night at the old Showboat Inn, and I use to go in there and exchange stories with her before I got on the internet.  Depending on how prosperous the local business community was Regina would weigh between 400 an 800 pounds, but there are a lot of women that big in the Midwest in America.  Big Bee in Lake Forest, Illinois at the Lake Forest taxi company was bigger though.  I think Regina Capone lived in Croton Falls, New York or Croton on the Hudson, I am not sure which.   She is probably still working at night somewhere else in this area.  There are a lot of hotels and inns in this area.  Now it is time for the email.  CIO 

Note: <888> 02/11/08 Monday 7:00 A.M..  I relaxed a bit, and I thought about matters as I know them, and I really have not got much work done during these early morning hours.  From what I know the Dutch keep showing up in this area thinking the Vanderbilts are still entertaining like Royalty in this area, and from what I know Claire Vanderbilt passed away a few years ago, and her son that is about 10 years younger than me and looks a bit like me 10 years ago lives up in Darien, Connecticut when he is not riding the equestrian show horse circuit.  Since he has a large family at home, he is probably doing routine family maintenance around his suburban home which he knows how to do, since he use to do building maintenance in the Darien area.  I think the R.T. Vanderbilt gravel company used to be in Norwalk, Connecticut too.  Basically the railroad uses a lot of gravel.  From what I know www.klm.com moved out of Manhattan, and they are located over in Westchester County New York near Tarrytown on a flood plain which should not bother the Dutch.   Since I do not speak or read Dutch, I am unable to network with the Dutch, and since I speak English very fast, most of the Dutch people whom know a little bit of English can not understand what I say.   I know the nearest Dutch church in this area is the Dutch reform church in Rye, New York and there is another one in Tarrytown, New York near where the Rockefellers another Dutch family happen to live.  The Dutch have a small gasoline station in the area called www.shell.com , but it is not very popular in this area with Rockefeller family www.exxon.com dominating the market.  Since a lot of the Dutch ride bicycles in the Netherlands where it is flat terrain, it is unfortunate for them around here that there is so much automobile traffic and lot of steep hills, this area is not very bicycle friendly.  The only person that I knew that ever road a bicycle in this area was French Canadian from northeast Vermont, and he road a mountain bicycle, and I think he had some sort or personal defense skills, however I never bother him, since he is more like a mercenary with a much larger force behind him and his own separate group of people working this area.  I also know a retired person whom tried riding a bicycle for a while, and after a few accidents, I no longer see him riding a bicycle anymore.  Some people use motor cycles and bicycles which can be more easily disguise their comings and goings, since they are easy to hide unobserved around certain properties.  Whatever the case since a great many Dutch people are aware of my presence, they might try dealing with me directly instead of hood winking me all of the time which they constantly do.  From what I know, although I am half Dutch American, they do not really like me because I am a United States citizen, so I am not easily intimidated by the Germans whom the Dutch seem to use for their observers around here, when they are too bored to get out of their coffee shops to see what is really going on in the world.  The Dutch have certain liberal social customs which unfortunately could lead to them spending time in United States security facilities, which unfortunately as a U.S.A. citizen, I prefer not to do.  I have my own work to do, and although I think like a reference librarian on the internet, most of the Europeans I have dealt with over the years have a preconceived socialist outlook in terms of their politics which in reality is not very popular in the United States of America.  In other words they want the same fat people to still run everything, and they have just changed their public relations.  CIO

Note: <888> 02/11/08 Monday 4:20 A.M..  When I don't get hacked, I get more work done, which I happen to think is important.  I chatted with the British Embassy in Washington D.C. briefly this evening.   I know the C.I.A. eavesdrops on the British embassy, so since the United States Government never pays much attention to me, I let the C.I.A. eavesdrop on me.  I called up the Key West Hotel Resorts & Florida Keys Beach Accommodations - Casa Marina Resort Key West , and I told them another relative instead of going there to go fishing is now on his way to Argentina to go fishing where it happens to be summer.  Maybe we'll get the Argentina ski patrol coming back up our way on the rebound.  Back in the 1970s around here, all we knew about Argentina was when their planes crashed in the Andes, they would eat each other, so I am not sure if it got any better down there or not.  I went to Lake Forest College www.lfc.edu and attended a foreign studies program in Florence, Italy with Randy Baumaster, whose father was suppose to own the largest night club in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and I think Randy might have had money since he layered the leather heels of his fine Italian boots with layers of equally thick gold.  I do know he could afford a Karmen Kia in Italy, but we were all afraid to drive with him.  I will now try to do some regular computer work.   Word to the not so unwise, employees in Greenwich, should not try to divert Greenwich business elsewhere for their own profit, of they may soon find their employment in Greenwich terminated swiftly. Note: <888> 02/11/08 Monday 3:55 A.M..   After dinner, I had a telephone call from a distressed relative worrying about another relative whom seems to be all right, but I have not seen for myself.  I am not able to communicate honestly over the telephones, because I feel my telephones are being tapped by a foreign intelligence agency possibly the Russian KGB "Knights of Great Britain", whom are probably the only people whom would still waste their time and money after all of these years with such a fruitless effort.  I chatted with the distressed relative whom is down south twice briefly, and since it is currently 10 degrees Fahrenheit with high winds or a wind-chill of minus 9 degrees Fahrenheit Greenwich, Connecticut (06830) Conditions & Forecast : Weather Underground, it is rough for anyone currently outside at the moment.  I spent about four hours outside this evening, and that is all I can really take, but I have good winter clothes.  One of the regular night people I see was sick for the last couple of weeks.  I called back the relative of the distressed relative and tried to give a quick summary.  However, I woke up that individual, so I am not sure he understood.  It is my viewpoint in the daytime, we have plenty of people around, but at night there are not too many people around, which is usual for this time of year.  The parking lot at the Delamar Hotel was pretty much empty, so there are not many visitors around here, and from my viewpoint, people may have gone south for the winter.  Of course, there are still the people from the north of us whom pass through this area on their way down south.  Nobody ever communicates much with me, so I am not able to offer much assistance on my limited income at night.  Currently I am just using one DeLonghi oil filled radiator in the apartment, and it is currently 69.6 degrees Fahrenheit in the apartment about six feet from the DeLonghi oil filled radiator.  I do not leave it on while I am asleep underneath the electric blanket, and I do not leave it on when I go out of the apartment downtown.  Since I am wearing my leisure clothes and two pairs of union suits, I am comfortable enough.  I chatted with Microsoft, and I briefly explained to them the situation here.  This area is part of the greater New York metropolitan area, so there are always people traveling around this area, no matter what the general weather situation is.  I will now do some regular computer work.  I am very use to this area, so my general viewpoint of the area from my past experience is pretty much what I have become accustomed to over the years.  The Palm Beach crowd are probably upset the indoor tennis court is not heated in the winter anymore.  CIO 

Note: <888> 02/10/08 Sunday 8:05 A.M..  I ate a bowl of goldfish crackers.  I first got interested in the oil business at a very young age, when I first learned to read well before age 4.  I noticed every gas station in this country had a Scott paper dispenser in it, so I figured I better keep an eye on the oil business.  At an advanced age of 7 in Alabama, I learned one of the fundamentals of the energy business, and that is to never sell one's mineral rights on property that one owns.  Over the years, the oil business seems to have done well enough, but one does not see many Scott paper dispensers in the gas stations anymore, since they seem to have been replaced by electric hand driers.  I was told by the Captain of the Queen Mary II back around August 1980, when I explored the ship one Sunday morning in Manhattan that he had a house in Byram, and he told me the only thing he bought in terms of ships supplies in the port of New York was Scott toilet paper.  I am still am working on trying to get the Arabs to try using toilet paper, instead of their hands.  Remember, Arabs eat with their left hands and wipe with their right hands, so one never shakes hands in traditional western style with an Arab, if you get my drift.  I guess because their is not much water in the Middle East, they do not use modern sewage systems which are part of using toilet paper.  I know they burn camel dung in the desert, so maybe they also burn human waste.  If any good looking fortune seeking women think they can get lucky by marrying an Arab, they are in for a rude awakening.  In Arab nations all the husband has to say to the wife is "I Divorce You" three times, and the marriage is ended, and the wife is left without anything except what her maternal family might own.  Thus the Hollywood versions of Arab life and the harems is somewhat true.  Well, it is now time to shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go to bed soon.  CIO

Note: <888> 02/10/08 Sunday 7:00 A.M..  I used the swivel sweeper to clean the main area of the carpets in the apartment.  I am now charging up its power supply.  The old wooden suitcase box that I have had around the apartment, since I first moved in here 19 years ago was behind the FIC server on the window shelf with the FIC server speakers sitting on it.  I moved the speakers off of the suitcase box, and I moved the suit case box to on top of the Kensington control panel that controls the window shelf lights, and I put the center lamp with the Victorian lamp shade on top of it, so the old wooden suit case box that I call Pandora's box is now displayed in the apartment like it once used to be.  I do not have anything inside of it.   I originally bought it for $5 at the E.L.D.C. thrift shop close to 20 years ago.  I ate 5 dried apricots.  The old Philco radio from the 1920s that I used as a plant holder for the large pathos plant is long since gone.  Tom Devlin threw it out about the fifth year that he lived here, and I retrieved it from the dumster area, and about four years ago, I donated it to the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop, and I recall it being on sale there for $75.  I have donated thousands of dollars of items to the Greenwich Hospital thrift shop over the years, since I live in a small apartment, frequently I run out of room.  The Queen Mary II returns from A.H. Reese's Duty Free Liquor in St. Thomas this Friday February 15, 2008 QM2 - Itinerary - 2008 , so maybe they are bringing up more rum from the Caribbean.  The largest cargo the Queen Mary II and the Queen Elizabeth II carries is various bonded liquors that they transport around the world.  Yes, it is perfectly legal, and they have bonded warehouses for the tax people to inspect it.  CIO

Note: <888> 02/09/08 Saturday 7:15 A.M..  I backed up the primary Vista computer with Complete PC backup from the first hard drive to the second hard drive.  To free up space on the C: drive, I deleted the beta files for Vista SP1 beta 1.  I still have the final release versions on the C: drive.  I also backed up the FIC server, server folder to three DVDs with Nero 7, and I stored the backup server folder DVDs to the Fire Sentry box that I keep in my apartment.  The server folder is about 12 megs, but about a third is an old video file and some old music, so my actual content is about 8 gigabyte or less.  Well, not much happening here on the wild side of town, particularly on a night schedule.  I guess when the Dutch came to America close to 400 years ago, the only thing they were good at was the New Amsterdam Dutch Night Watch.  Believe it or not, there are still quite a few people of Dutch origins in this area, but they don't stick out, since they don't wear wooden shoes in this area anymore.  There use to be a group of Dutch volunteers that planted tulips in the center islands of Park Avenue in the old days, but the new people in Manhattan do not pay much attention to the Dutch, since Holland is not a super power, and it is not a large country, but since it is a seafaring nation, they have a world wide presence.  They obviously in their voyages around the world over the years have seen quite a lot of volcanic activity, and in the former Dutch colonies in the South Pacific, there are quite a lot of volcanoes.  Thus the Dutch probably know a thing or two about volcanoes, but since I do not read or speak Dutch, I am not aware, and I just know how to run a home computer.  CIO

Note: <888> 02/08/08 Friday 6:50 P.M..  Last night before going to bed, I used some Elmer's white glue to clue the end of the smallest tea tray that had come lose.  I have them stored on the floor in the kitchen.  I filled out an emergency contact form for the Greenwich Housing Authority, and I mailed it in the mail room downstairs.  I threw out the garbage and the old periodical literature.  I watered the plants.  I chatted with a relative.  I have two large rib eye steaks in the freezer that are double bagged and have been there for over a year, so I should possibly use them soon.  If they are not good for steak, I could always use them for beef stew.  I also have a bag of frozen shrimp that are about six months old and two four packs of frozen lump crab cakes.  Thus I have the capability of doing more exotic cooking.  Nobody ever contacts me, since nobody is interested in poor people in this area, or for what one knows or whom one knows.  All they seem to be interested in is rich people, so I have a great deal of privacy here on the low income side of town.  Of course rich people tend to be cheap, since they were able to buy everything when it was cheaper.  From what I know once the rush hour crowd evacuates this area, there is not much going on around here.  Last Sunday night, when I was coming back from my walk on Greenwich Avenue, I saw five black GMC wagons moving in formation like one sees when the President is around, and they were going into the office complex on the northwest side of West Putnam Avenue and Valley Road, so maybe we might still have VIPs moving around here instead of the local youth whom tend to seem to be able to prowl around much of the time.  Of course it could have been a GMC www.gmc.com  sales person trying to sell their product.  When my relatives were Bush family neighbors in Kennebunkport, Maine back in 1978, before they became more popular and bought Walker's Point, the Bush family had three grey Volvo station wagons parked in the driveway, and I think I still have a picture of them.  What was sort of amusing as I recall is that they had Massachusetts license plates on them as I recall, so possibly the Bush family have relatives in Massachusetts.  With politicians and Royalty whom are pilots, one never knows.  CIO 

Note: <888> 02/08/08 Friday 5:15 A.M..  I woke up and ate five more dried apricots while I was asleep.  I woke up at 1 P.M..  I picked up my mail.  I went out without cleaning up, and I went downtown by the Chase Bank on Mason Street.  I then went by the Wachovia Bank on Benedict Place to pay my rent to the Greenwich Housing Authority.  I then returned home.  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted bagel with olive oil, orange and grape and cranraspberry juice with vitamins and supplements and coffee with milk and splenda sweetener.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  I made my bed.  I chatted with a friend and another local reference person and a out of town comment line.  All of my bills are now paid.  I do not have another www.geico.com automobile insurance payment until April 2008.  I paid the last payment on the policy in December 2007.  Well, not much happening around here.  There seemed to be a bit of the usual weekend rush hour traffic as usual, but not much seems to be going on around here.  CIO

Note: <888> 02/07/08 Thursday 11:45 P.M..  I fried four strips of bacon, and I made a three egg omelet with Vermont extra sharp cheddar cheese and 1/3 less fat Philadelphia cream low f in it with grated parmesan cheese on top of it.  I also toasted two slices of toast, which I put low salt butter on, and I ate it all with a glass of iced tea.  I shut down the primary Vista computer, and I unplugged the Sony TV video cable from the Nvidia GeForce AGP 6200 video card, and I plugged it into the Nvidia PCI GeForce FX5200 video card.  I then booted the primary Vista computer.  In the device properties, I then disabled the Nvidia GeForce 6200 AGP card.  I then used the Nvidia control panel to set it for the Analog display and TV. That leaves only the far right monitor going with the Sony TV when set with the Sony TV remote control to AV1.  One is not able to run it in clone mode for the two monitors, so one can not use the Windows Media Center with the Hauppauge Remote control, unless one moves it from the far right monitor to the Sony TV monitor.  It will also play on the Sony TV in full screen in the Windows Media player, so one can watch internet video on the big screen Sony TV.  One does not have as much control as when it use to work in Clone mode, but it is still a workable media center setup for enjoyment of internet video.  I ate five dried apricots.  I will now go through my email.  There was dirt on my passenger side front seat of the Audi today, and I can figure out how it got there, since I have not had anyone sitting in that seat, since I got the car, and it was cleaned just before I got it.  CIO

Note: <888> 02/07/08 Thursday 9:15 P.M..  I listed to some of the Space Shuttle and Space Station broadcast.  Since I installed both an AGP and a PCI dual Nvidia cards on my primary Vista computer, I have not tried to use the Nvidia cards with their outlet for the TV monitor.  It will not work with the AGP card, so the next time I reboot, I will try the monitor cable plugged into the PCI card.  When one enables the TV monitor, it disables some of the LCD monitors.  There probably is a way, I just have not figured it out.  I ate five dried apricots.  CIO

Note: <888> 02/06/08 Wednesday 11:00 P.M..  I tested the four laser printers hooked up to the primary Vista computer and also the three inkjet printers.  They are all connected up properly and working fine.  I ran cleaning cycles on the Epson 900 and the HP Photosmart 1000, and they both seem to be low on yellow ink.  The Epson Stylus Color 880 seems to be fine on ink.  I do not use much color ink, so it does not really matter.  I tested my other peripherals on the primary Vista computer to make sure they work all right.  In attaching the new wireless sender for the new Microsoft 6000 wireless keyboard and mouse, I attached its sender to one of the two motherboard USB ports, so I had to move the 2 gigabyte turbo boost pen drive from that location to the last remaining of the six case USB ports.  I reinstalled System Mechanic 7, and I ran it to check the system.  I did a Vista Complete PC backup from the first hard drive to the second hard drive to save any changes. I moved the wire in basket from on top of the new HP laser printer on the dining table to on top of the old Visioneer scanner in the bedroom.  I put the address ink stamp in the Vistaprint box with the cards, and I moved the box to on top of the Microsoft Keyboard on the bedroom desk.  Thus the dining table is a little neater in appearance.  I will now make and eat the same dinner as last night.  I ate the last four dried apricots in the can that I opened recently, so there are 63 to a can.  CIO

Note: <888> 02/06/08 Wednesday 6:20 P.M..  I was up at 3 P.M., when I had a computer magazine conference invitation call, which I declined.  I went downstairs, and I picked up my mail.  I chatted with neighbors and the building custodian.  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted bagel with olive oil, orange and grape and cranraspberry juice with vitamins and supplements and coffee with milk and splenda sweetener.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  I made my bed.  I threw out some garbage.  I chatted with some neighbors.  I showed one my neighbors my Audi 1998 Audi A6 owned by Michael Scott .  I resent one of my post cards that came back with a wrong address label.  On my www.cl-p.com bill for December 2007, it was $253.  This past January 2008 with the last three weeks of January when I did not use the living room electric base board heat or the bedroom and the bathroom electric heat and no tower fans, and instead only when I was awake  and in the apartment, I used the DeLonghi oil filled electric radiator in my living room sitting area at medium setting of 4, and I only turned on the Honeywell hepa air purifier for a couple hours after sautéing a burger with onions, and my January 2008 electric bill was $167.44 down $85.56 from the month before.  However in the cooler inside apartment temperature around 68 degrees or slightly lower Fahrenheit, I am also wearing two pairs of long underwear union suits over my leisure clothes including one pair of extra extra large tall Red Two-Layer Union Suit, Men's: Hunting Gear and Apparel at L.L.Bean , which is no longer available, but one can get this Polartec Power Dry Union Suit, Men's: Underwear and Socks at L.L.Bean for slightly more.  I will now do some regular computer work.

I finished configuring the wireless mice and keyboards on the computers, and they all work just fine.  The older Microsoft 6000 mouse works perfectly on the Epox computer with it plugged into a USB port.  On the primary Vista computer, I had used a USB keyboard plug adapter, and it was somewhat erratic.  I also install the updates on both partitions on both backup computers.  On the Epox computer in Vista with AOL 9.1 update, it would seem that one can not open a static web page like my directory with out opening an empty web page, which is sort of annoying, so I set it to open www.aol.com instead of my web directory http://mikelouisscott.com/scotlist.htm .  I also backed up the Vista partition on the Epox computer from the first hard drive to the second hard drive.  I also registered at Staples ESP - Home the new Microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse.  I registered it twice to register both serial numbers of both devices, and I printed out two copies of both registrations.   Having a much more responsive keyboard and mouse setup will make my daily work easier.  I also ate five dried apricots.  CIO

Note: <888> 02/04/08 Monday 4:25 A.M..  I ate five more dried apricots.  I also ate a couple handfuls of dry roasted peanuts.  The young Italian fellow at the Greenwich Hardware store has relatives that live next to this church Basilica of Santa Croce, Florence - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia which I have seen.  I think I might have seen somebody this evening who was hitchhiking East on West Putnam Avenue by Valley Road that looked like Jimmy Eldert, but more than likely it was not him because the fellow looked too young to be Jimmy.  Jimmy is probably a bit heavier by now, since he has larger family members.  Also the last intern that gave me a physical this past fall was from Sweden, but he had relatives that lived by the Piazza Michelangelo in Firenze, Italia.  Frank one of the regular night people has not been seen around in a while, but he probably got older and moved down south.  Well, some people read and study and stay inside all of the time, so they do not consume as much energy as people who are active outside and whom also do inside household chores.  Thus I tend to have more of an appetite than if I were just sitting inside reading all of the time watching the world go by.  Well, I am a bit tired, so I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go to bed soon.  As far as I can tell, it is really slow around here without much happening at all.  I suppose with the warmer winter weather, we are lucky as far as our energy costs are concerned, but from what I know sooner or later colder weather and colder winters always return to this area.  I actually do not eat to much, I only eat breakfast and dinner, and I usually have a snack.  My experience in this area since 1961 is that it is actually a quiet peaceful area, but we have a lot of traffic moving through this area with the week day commuting rush hour coming and going, which if one stays inside during the daytime or at least rush hour, and only goes out at night or when it is slow, it tends to be a relatively peaceful area.  Of course it was the same way in Manhattan in the old days.  Of course in Nantucket and Key West, it was relatively peaceful since they were smaller island communities.  However, in the summer around here, it can be quite busy with all of the New York City people coming out to enjoy the country, but once again it tends to be mostly traffic passing us by most of the time.  Bon Soir, have a good day.  CIO

I chatted with a relative.  I showered, and I cleaned up.  I went out, and I went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station.  I sat out at various locations.  I found a $20 bill in front of Richards, so that makes $66 I have found on Greenwich Avenue in 24 years which works out to less that $3 a year.  Thus walking Greenwich Avenue is not very profitable, but it is an enjoyable exercise walk.  I stopped by CVS during my walk, and I chatted with the staff.  I used the bathroom at Starbucks.  There were some patrons at the local pubs watching the Superbowl, but it was not very busy at all.  I went by the Greenwich Automotive Service Exxon gasoline station, and they are out of premium and medium grade gasoline.  I filled up the tank with $9 of self service regular or 2.501 gallons at $3.599 a gallon for 30.2 miles driving since last Saturday or 12.08 miles per gallon at odometer reading of 59510.  I found an old Stop and Shop metal handle carrying cart on Greenwich Avenue across from CVS, so when I next went by Stop and Shop, I returned it.  I bought two 64 ounce containers of Simply Orange juice with calcium for $3 each, three Planter's Peanuts dry roasted lightly salted peanuts for $2, a 16 ounce container of Billy Bee pure clover Canadian honey for $3.99, two 64 ounce Old Orchard grape juice light for $1.99 each, two Ocean Spray 64 ounce light cranraspberry juice for $2.50 each, a 48 ounce Quaker Oats old fashioned oatmeal for $4.49,a two blue tablet box of Stop and Shop toilet bowl cleaner for $2.69, a 38 ounce container of Pepperidge Farm whole wheat goldfish crackers for $7.99, a two pound bag of baby carrots for $2.99, green yellow Chiquita bananas for .54 a pound for $1.34, fresh broccoli crowns at $1.99 a pound for $2.07, a bulb of garlic at $2.99 a pound for .45, and a five pound bag of Russet potatoes for $2.99 for $50.14 total.  I then returned home, and I put away my groceries.  The internet says that New York won the Superbowl by Giants 17 and Patriots 14.  CIO

Note: <888> 02/03/08 Sunday 1:55 A.M..  I ate 10 dried apricots.  Dried apricots are a delicacy around here.  I am surprised nobody else around here was interested in buying them on sale for $2 for 16 ounces.  I guess a lot of people in this area now shop at www.costco.com , so they do not pay much attention to the local village merchants downtown.  Alas one has to figure Costco customers will be seeing their costs increase, once their warehouse inventories are reduced and have to be replaced.  If you noticed the employees at Costco are thin, it sort of tells you something.  I quite frankly do not believe in the viewpoint of democracy that we are all equal, but a small number of very large fat men own everything.  CIO

Note: <888> 02/03/08 Sunday 1:10 A.M..  This past morning before going to bed, I also ate a bagel with olive oil.  Back in the good old days, when I gave up on Manhattan for a while in 1975 during the Energy embargo, I decided to try to quit smoking cigarettes around April 1975, so I got a bit more energy, so I use to walk around Greenwich a lot.  One warm spring day I walked over from our house on Cornelia Drive in mid country to Tod's Point, but on the way back I got a ride from a friend of Louis Rosenstiels daughter, and he showed me the lake up on Conyers Farm, and he told me it was a good place to swim.  I knew Seigert from the Y.M.C.A. use to walk up North Street to that property, so I use to walk from Cornelia Drive up Round Hill Road to the Conyers Farm lake.  I would see a fellow classmate Bob Adams also jogging in that neighborhood.  I have always preferred to walk, since I see more.  Since it is a long walk, I tried camping out there a few times, and I met a few local high school students from my neighborhood who also liked swimming there.  The same fellow that showed me the Conyers Lake also introduced me to Louis Rosenstiel's daughter and had me over to their house on the major part of the property.  I use to see Seigert on the property, and I chatted with Louis Rosenstiel once on the property when he was walking three Russian wolf hounds around.  Since the property seemed to be a bit in decline, and the old dock had fallen apart from the ice on the Lake in the winter, I got some tools from my parents house, and in about 2 days, I built a very stable about 20 foot by 20 foot floating raft out of the old dock.  The high school kids liked sun bathing on it and floating around the lake.  They also use to rehearse their high school play a lot around the lake, and the play was "South Pacific".  However, around the beginning of July the lake would turn murky with algae, and it was not too good for swimming, I got a post card from Sandy Carlson of the art gallery on East 67th street across the street from the Austrian consulate that Jimmy Eldert was up in Nantucket.  I did not have much money, so I baked about five loaves of Rye bread to eat, and I hitchhiked up to Wood's Hole.  I recall getting a ride with somebody from the Unites States Coast Guard who was a helicopter pilot, and he had me visit his trailer while he cleaned up.  When I got to Wood's Hole, the last ferry had left, and I met a fellow that was staying at the Episcopal Church retreat the Poors House on a nearby bay.  It was quite a deluxe old family retreat donated to the church as a retreat by the Standard and Poors family, and most of the people living there were living communally and were from Cambridge, Massachusetts. I spent several days resting there from my trip, and they had a lot of government food in storage.  I found a flag pole one day while walking back from Woods Hole, so I tried to get them to erect it on the Fourth of July that year, but they objected.  I did not have the money to pay for the Ferry boat from Woods Hole to Nantucket, so I recall early one morning before the tourists showed up, I snuck on board.  Having been to Nantucket a number of times before that having lived and worked in the Boston area, I was curious to see how it had changed if any.  I looked up Sandy Carlson, but he had not expected me for a guest and the same with Jimmy Eldert.  I think I was a bit tanned having camped out at Conyers Farm lake for several months.  I think when I first arrived on the island, I had hitchhiked outside of town, and Tony Ferrell who lived next to the Nantucket Youth hostile gave me a ride, and showed me property on Fair Grounds Road where he had relatives camping out.  So I stayed there on the foundation platform of an unbuilt house.   I recall a few of my fellow campers were local island youth about my age, and we were once hungry, and we hitchhiked out to the NORTH cove in Madeket, and we dove in the water for Co hogs which are large clams, and we got several large fifty pound potato sacks of them, so we were able to make some money for cigarettes.  I think a local merchant bought them from my fellow campers.  I was a bit darkly tanned and Jimmy Eldert was embarrassed to be seen with me, and his Kennedy friends did not know whom I was.  I remember he once bought me an orange and a quart of milk at Cumberland Farms.  One night when I was walking into town, Fred Von Mierers came zooming by out of the Nantucket airport in an airport taxi, and he recognized me, and he picked me up, and he took me to the $8,000 a week DeMendle house that he had rented for the summer season.  He had me clean up, and he took me to dinner at the Opera House.  That was the beginning of the Fred and Jimmy story at http://mikelouisscott.com/fred.htm .  Well as I recall with the harvesting of the Quahogs at low tide, one was able to pick them up like golf balls with one's toes, if you did not like diving for them.  Camping out is possibly how I might have been exposed to Lyme Disease.  As I recall, I might have walked around the outer road around Martha's Vineyard first before I went out to Nantucket.  I do recall staying at the Youth Hostile on Martha's Vineyard for free.  Anyway, I think by mid August I had made it back down to Greenwich, and as I recall I came down with a bad cold and fever for the last two weeks of September, before I was possibly misdiagnosed with another medical problem from which I recovered from by Christmas time before taking a six month job in Greenville, South Carolina and then returning to the Tall Ships in New York harbor.  I do recall while at Daniel Construction company towards the end of my time there, I wrote a simple Cobol computer script program for keeping track of the expediting job that I was doing.  It seemed to have worked, and my bosses like it.  However, I was starting to get hot down south, and they wanted to send me to Saudi Arabia to build an Unites States Air Force Base in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and I was told it was 140 degrees Fahrenheit there on the tarmac, so I quit my job and moved my belongings up north, and after the Tall Ship festivities in Manhattan where I saw Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip at Bloomingdale's Department store, I returned back to Nantucket for part of the summer.  I did recommend to my coworkers instead of sending tankers of cement to Saudi Arabia which went bad in the heat while waiting in the harbor, it would be much simpler to build cement factories, since more than likely all of the raw ingredients were already there.  Once again when I returned to Nantucket, Jimmy was very territorial like I did not belong on the island.  However the following winter, he did catch up with my in Key West, Florida after visiting Russia on a University of New Hampshire cultural exchange program where he visited the United States embassy there.  He told me all of the women there were wearing Bee Hive hairdos.  Whatever the case, when one leaves Greenwich, one seems to run into other people living around the waterfront elsewhere on the coasts of the world, which is why I try to be nice to everyone whom visits here, in case I ever happen to visit elsewhere in the world where they might live.  However, at my age I do not travel very much anymore.  CIO

Note: <888> 02/02/08 Saturday 6:20 P.M..  Well, I have a bit of cabin fever, so I guess I will now shower and clean up, and I will go out to explore the great outside world of Greenwich Avenue which in reality does not have much that I can afford to buy.  I suppose with my expertise on some of the most fashionable avenues in the world, I could give a few merchants a few tips, but I do not volunteer all of my expertise for free, because I can not always remember everything that I once knew.  I browsed the www.mpja.com catalog on electronics.  It has a lot of handy items if one knew how to repair electronics.  I am not much of a repair person, I am more of a component replacement person in terms of electronics.  Of course if there is a minor moving part that is faulty, it is sometimes easy to trouble shoot.  Most of the busy business people in this area do not have the time to fix things in terms of office equipment, so they tend to replace their hardware every three years if they are making money, since they can write off the expense against their taxes.  Thus the tax laws effect how other people make their money in terms of repair of older items which most people do not really want to use or can afford to maintain.  Frequently it can be more expensive maintaining older electronics than it is to buy the newer more up to date products.  Also, just because one fixes one part of an older piece of electronics, one still has to remember some of the other components are also equally older.  With electronics, once they get too old, they can also be a fire hazard if not properly maintained.  I have said this all many time in my notes before.  CIO

Video Hookup Coax Cable (Black) for $4.59 each, a 75-0hm 2 way cable TV splitter 15-2587 RadioShack.com - Home Entertainment: Accessories: Video accessories: Adapters, splitters & amplifiers: 2-Way Gold-Plated Bidirectional Splitter Gold Series for $10.99, and a Gold Series 75-0hm Coax High-Isolation A/B Switch 15-1217 RadioShack.com - Home Entertainment: Accessories: Video accessories: Selectors & switches: High Isolation A/B Switch for $14.99 and $2.11 tax for $37.27 total.  I chatted with the staff for a while about tech waiting for the rain to let up.  I also used their bathroom, and I browsed their store looking at a few bargain promotions.  I then drove downtown, and I chatted with a couple at Starbucks for a while, and I used their bathroom.  I gave out three calling cards.  I also stopped by Zen stationary, and I told them about the internet problems in India.  I then returned back home.  I ran one of the 12 inch cables from my existing A/B switch into the A port on the new A/B switch, and then I ran the other 1 foot cable from the center out port of the new A/B switch to the new 2 splitter, and I connected my primary Vista and my FIC server TV card cables to the two splitter.  Thus since I possibly have signal interference in my TV cards from the Digital Cablevision cable, I can hit the B switch on the second A/B switch to over ride and terminate the signal from coming into the computers, when I do not need to use the TV features which is most of the time.  It seems to be working, and with the A switch pressed the High Definition TV features and the High Definition TV card work fine in both Digital Cable box or direct cable on both primary Vista and FIC server computers.  I chatted with two friends.  I then removed the batteries from the Microsoft Laser wireless 6000 mouse, and I used a 1/16th inch flat jewelers screw driver to remove the small European screw which I did not have a bit for, and I opened up its case, and I examined its interior.  It seems the wheel feature rod had come out of one of its end rod holes, so it was not centered properly causing the left mouse button to not work properly.  I reinstalled the wheel properly, and I also removed a long plastic hair. I then tested it on the FIC server, and it seemed to be working just fine.  I then switched the Microsoft Wireless 6000 mouse and keyboard to the primary Vista computer, and I installed the drivers after uninstalling the Logitech drivers.  I then uninstalled the Microsoft drivers from the FIC server, and I installed the Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse and its drivers.  Both systems seem to be running just fine.  I ate two tuna fish sandwiches with Pringles potato chips and a dill pickle slice and a glass of iced tea.  Thus it was another day of Mickey Mouse computer maintenance.  Happy Ground Hogs Day.  I also watered the plants, and I threw out the garbage and old periodical literature.  While throwing out some garbage earlier about midnight, when I went out, the was a very healthy looking well fed Red Tail Fox that ran away from the dumpster into the woods nearby. Note: <888> 02/01/08 Friday 1:30 A.M..  With dinner, I also ate a 1/5th piece of French butter crumb cake.  I changed the three calendars to February.  This year is leap year, so if you were born on February 29, you get a birthday every four years.  I clipped my finger nails and my toe nails.  Tomorrow is Ground Hogs Day.  I guess I will now go through my email.  I saw on a www.foxnews.com broadcast today that if a United States of America citizen is crossing the Canadian border back into the United States, you now need not only a driver's license but also a birth certificate.  They also said as of June 2008, when going back and forth across the United States and Canadian borders, you will also need a passport from whatever country one happens to be from.  Since I think United States of America passports can cost around $100 now, it is getting more expensive for people living on the border to travel into the United States of America or visa a versa.  According to the oldest map I have in my apartment, I am living in Nova Francia not New England, and since the French speaking Canadians to the north of us number about 40 million in Canada, there tends to be quite a few French speaking Canadians in New England if you happen to know French.  From a practical point of view, I am sort of for making New England part of Canada, so we could have all of the Canadian Duty free liquor stores in Byram, Canada, which would be quite profitable with all of the New Yorkers at our door steps.  Of course in the old days, when Fred Von Mierers http://mikelouisscott.com/fred.htm worked for the movers and shakers in Manhattan, he use to get his liquor duty free from the Mexican consulate in Manhattan.  Of course since Fred had lived all over the world including with Richard Nixon's ambassador to Spain the Saltonstall family from Massachusetts, he also knew how to speak Spanish.  His first reference to me was he knew Tony Clark that I had gone to the Taft School with in Watertown, Connecticut, before Tony dropped out his senior year for unknown reasons.  I later read that Tony Clark was living in Santa Cruz in the Canary Islands having left a forwarding address at the Knickerbocker Club in Manhattan, and the summer before I met Fred in Manhattan in October 1973, he had been at a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace with Helen Kress Williams and Mick Jagger, so Fred was a little bit Avant Garde.  From what I know Fred had quite a large number of European friends which he managed to entertain and keep track of.  However, once they either settled into America or returned to Europe, his East side neighborhood became less busy except for the daily commuter traffic.  Since I am more experienced at suburban life, I am not very useful in maintaining Manhattan type high rise buildings which might tend to be a little bit more complex, particularly if one were afraid of heights.  I remember Fred even knew a high rise building window washer, which can be awfully cold in the winter, but great views.  CIO
