I then drove down to the Senior and the Arts Center. I chatted with a Starbucks regular. I used the bathroom at the Senior and the Arts Center. I then drove over to Old Greenwich to the Hair Cut Place. I got my hair cut short for $30 and $10 tip for $40 total. I then went by the Rummage Room Thrift shop. I bought a Big Button Radio Shack telephone for $5 and .36 tax for $5.36. I then went by www.cvs.com . I bought two 64 ounce CVS grape juice for $2.50 each for $5 total. I then went by Home Depot just over the Stamford border, and I bought a power strip for $5.59, a two foot by eight foot red and yellow oriental design runner carpet for $44 and a five pound Kidde general fire extinguisher for $54.97 and $6.64 tax for $111.20 total. I then went by Staples, and I bought from the clearance section for half price two 500 sheet boxes of Granite Deluxe invitation paper for $21.56 a box and $2.74 tax for $45.86 total. I drank it front of the Senior and the Arts Center. I then bought an Ace's High scratch card at Zyn Stationary, and I lost. I chatted with a Starbucks customer, and I used their bathroom, and then I finished my coffee. I then went by the Putnam Shell at 401 West Putnam Avenue, and I bought $10.07 of self service premium gasoline for $3.599 a gallon for 2.797 gallons at odometer reading of 120149 miles for 40 miles driven since Friday January 24, 2020 for 14.302 miles per gallon in local traffic. I then returned home. I brought up my purchases. I put the green bags back in the car, and I sat outside. I moved the blue Persian carpet from the living room to the hallway, and the orange pattern runner from the hallway to on top of the other runner at the kitchen entrance, and I put the new red oriental design runner between the oak dining table and the living room closets. It looks much better and works quite well. I took some of the glass ware out of the center hallway bookcase lower cabinet, and I put it on the lower side of the Danish end table by the televisions, and I put the new white wine on the right side of that cabinet on both levels. I put the new fire extinguisher with the other ones at the kitchen entrance. The new keyboard is for Apple devices too, and I left it on the bedroom desk. I think my father when he worked for a Continental Can Tee Pak division built the world's largest sausage casing factory in Columbia, South Carolina around 1977 or so. I also went to www.lfc.edu with a relative of Oscar Meyer along with all of the other meat packing families that lived in Lake Forest, Illinois. Also in the Midwest, states like Illinois produce a lot of field corn that is used for feeding livestock besides making Ethanol. I will now shut down the primary work computer, and I will go to bed. My current Optimum bill was $259 which is about $105 for high speed Cable Modem Internet, $35 for Optimum Voice long distance and about $120 for premium Cable TV. However that includes $20 in discounts for all three packages which covers the two cable boxes which are about $20 and taxes other fees. I bought two 6 inch green foliage plants for $7.99 each and a panini roll for $1.50 and .91 tax for $18.29 total. I then drove down to the Board of Education parking lot. I ate my panini roll in front of the Senior and the Arts Center. I then used the bathroom at www.starbucks.com . I then returned home. I sat outside. I put the two green foliage plants on the window sill by the sitting area in the living room. I threw out the two square wooden pots that the aloe plants had died in. I bought a four pack of Jimmy Dean frozen sausage, egg, and cheese croissants for $5.99, buy one get one free of Thomas' 6 packs of Everything bagels for $4.69 both packs, two 12 ounce Ball Park Angus beef franks for $3.335 each, a six pack of Stop and Shop hotdog buns for $1.50 and a dime paper bag for $18.95 total. I then drove down to the Board of Education parking lot. I used the bathroom at www.starbucks.com . I walked the lower Greenwich Avenue area. I sat out at various locations. 01/29/20 Wednesday 7:05 P.M. I chatted with a friend that is going to visit Key West next Wednesday to go fishing. On the Dell Latitude E6410 and the Dell Latitude E6400 laptops, I removed the DVD drives, and I installed the modular drive holders with the two identical SSD drives that I made a couple of days ago. Thus both laptops if one presses F12 gives on an option to boot the internal SSD drive or the Modular SSD drive. The Dell Latitude E6410 laptop has Windows 10 Professional, and the Dell Latitude E6400 has Windows 7 Premium. Both of them are full configured. Thus they both have a backup option if the primary internal SSD drive gets corrupted. With the SSD drives, they both run fast enough. I went outside for an instant coffee. I will now go outside again. I will then shower and clean up. I will then go downtown to see the remains of the day.

Of course it is just a theory. Of course, if one could force the Gulf Stream further west, it might warm up the East Coast of America or even possibly thaw out Greenland raising the Ocean levels and possibly thaw out the Northwest Passage making it easier to travel from one side of the Eastern Hemisphere to the other side, as if the Western Hemisphere does not really matter. 01/26/20 Sunday 9:40 P.M. I do not think I will be cruising around downtown in the late hours of the night this evening. However, one never knows when the whim of local travel might strike my mood. In the 1990s, I used to drive over to White Plains are up the Boston Post Road as far as Fairfield. In earlier years in the 1970s after 11 P.M. at night, it was only 20 to 25 minutes to Midtown Manhattan. As I recall, I would take I-95 West to the Cross Bronx Expressway, and I would get off at the New York Thruway exit and take the first exit into the Bronx and drive to the Willis Avenue Bridge into Manhattan and down the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Drive to the East 49th Street exit, and I would park on Beekman Place or the North Side of the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Post Office Building, and I would meet up with some people that I knew in that area. Of course I would also explore Greenwich Village, since that is where a lot of the younger generation used to live. Alas, I do not feel comfortable driving busy highways at night anymore. Also my taking the Willis Avenue Bridge, one does not pay the expensive $9.50 Triboro Bridge Toll. I will first go outside again. CIO

On the Dell Latitude E6400, I restored the Windows 7 operating system configuration from the Dell Dimension that I got rid of, so it goes much faster than with Windows 10. I still have to make a Windows Complete PC backup of it and a clone off it to a SSD drive, so it will have two drives. The DVD drive on it does not work either. I am now making a clone of the Dell Latitude E6410 with the Aomei backup software, so it too will have two hard drives with identical configurations. I moved the external DVD drive from the Imac late 2013 in the bedroom to the left side of HP 17 laptop at the apartment entrance. I went outside twice, and the last time, I drank an instant coffee. Instead I put in the fully configured SSD drive from the Dell Optiplex 740 that I got rid of as a second hard drive, and when one boots and presses "ESC" and then "F9", one can chose either hard drive to boot up which are basically the same. I put the HP DVD drive in the drawer beneath the setup. I will now go outside again. CIO

In the period I was down there occasionally visiting Atlanta, Georgia; is when Ted Turner launched www.cnn.com . However, the first Cable Television network was the www.cbs.com Cable channel from Atlanta to Greenville, South Carolina which used to be right next to my $150 a month apartment at the Woodbridge Apartments in Greenville, South Carolina; which was also near the local sheriffs office with two hundred sheriff's cars, so we had reasonable security. How times have changed in the Media. One of Ted Turner's wives was Jane Fonda whose father Henry Fonda once lived in the Glenville section of Greenwich, Connecticut. Of course a lot of other media people from around the world seem to also visit this area because, the New York City area is a communications hub of the world. From my perspective out here in the suburbs anymore, most of the media now seems to be paid advertising. One family friend in 1973, got me the clerk typist job at the CBS News broadcast center on West 57th Street. Another family relative's wife's family also used to own the local Greenwich Time, and they donated $100 million to local charities in nearby Stamford, Connecticut including half of which went to the new Stamford Hospital and $10 million to the Whale Presbyterian Church in Stamford. 01/21/20 Tuesday 3:35 P.M. I went downtown to the www.chase.com bank at the top of Greenwich Avenue, and I got a $10 roll of quarters for parking. I then went by www.cvs.com , and I picked up a prescription. I then sat out across the street. I then went back into CVS, and I used the bathroom. I then went to the Senior and the Arts Center. I got my parking permit for they year 2020 for $5 , and then I took out the old parking permit, and I put the new one in the windshield inside by the far left of the driver. I then walked the lower Greenwich Avenue area. I toured the www.apple.com store. I sat out at various locations. At Zyn stationary I bought an Ace's High scratch card for a dollar, and I lost as usual. I then used the bathroom at www.starbucks.com . I then drove over to the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop across from the Hamilton Avenue School. For 75% off, I bought a solid mahogany end table made by Bernhardt for $23.75 after discount. They have another one just like it. I then returned home. I sat outside. I used my little folding cart to bring up the end table. I put it where the round mahogany tea table was at the apartment entrance. It works a lot better, and the HP 17 inch laptop fits just fine on it. I threw out the round mahogany tea table. I filed this report. I will now go outside, and I will drink an instant coffee.

With my Starbucks card, I bought a Peak Grande coffee with soy milk and Splenda artificial sweetener for $2.63. I drank it with a Starbucks regular in front of the Senior and the Arts Center. Earlier I had cleaned the snow off the benches in front of the Senior and the Arts Center. I used the bathroom a second time at Starbucks. I then drove to www.cvs.com on Greenwich Avenue. I bought a 7 ounce decaffeinated Tasters Choice coffee for $7.99 and a container of 75 Total Home hand wipes for $3.49 and .22 tax for $11.70 total. I then sat outside across the street. I then went inside CVS, and I used the bathroom. I left the plastic snow shovel in the back seat of the car. I then sat out across the street some more. But also young people. They are happy to live in a free country.
Freedom is never free. She always demands something from us: trust in each
other, reasonableness, the willingness to give each other space. Everyone who
delves into what freedom is, understands why tolerance is so important. If we
start threatening people with a different opinion, we undermine exactly what
we hold dear.
To be free, we must allow the transverse thinking. In ourselves and with
others.
Freedom also means irrevocable: making choices. In our own life and together.
That is difficult, but we do our best. No matter how sharp the contradictions
are, it is always possible to find solutions. We will also need that skill in
talking to each other and sometimes arranging something in the near future.
A little distance helps to see things in perspective. Many compatriots who
live abroad discover with retroactive effect how well our country is
organized. The Netherlands is still one of the most successful countries in
the world. Behind that success are people like you and you. Millions of
professionals and volunteers who make the best of it together in difficult
circumstances.
Teachers, police officers, doctors and nurses.
Officials and judges.
Farmers, builders and biologists.
Even though the emotions can sometimes run high, the Dutch still have the
feeling that they belong together. That is our great strength. It not only
contributes to a country that performs well, but also to a country where
people are on average happy.
And yet…
In these days of the year, now that Christmas brings some peace to the hectic
pace of everyday life, doubts can also arise. "Am I doing well?" "Do I make
the right choices?" "Am I really happy?"
That pursuit of happiness is beautiful, but it should not become an obsession.
Grief may also be there. Doubts and feelings of loneliness may also be there.
Failures and setbacks are also part of life.
In the pursuit of happiness and success, we can sometimes pass by ourselves.
As free people, we want to get the best out of life, and blame ourselves if
that doesn't work. We mirror ourselves to others, set the bar high and like to
present a perfect version of ourselves to the outside world. As if there is a
taboo on uncertainty and shortcomings.
But nobody is perfect.
Fortunately.
I also say this to young people. Don't worry too much if things go wrong. Give
yourself some space. It's okay.
Happiness cannot be forced. It is elusive. It suddenly comes as a gift from
heaven.
When we consider what makes us most happy, almost everyone gives the same
answer: the people around me. Family and friends, but also people you might
hardly know and who are just nice to you.
Happiness is in our connection with others. Let us therefore not let each
other go. Let us listen to each other and show understanding. Let us comfort
and encourage each other. It helps if someone looks at you and says to you,
"It's good."
With a listening ear, an outstretched hand or an arm around the shoulder, we
give each other the most beautiful gift that a person can give to a person.
Not only this Christmas, but also afterwards.

Suddenly the Optimum Mail server, my internet service provider posted over a thousand
Old emails over a year old. With a 400 mbps second connection, it took an hour to download
Them all again. I have my Outlook 365 settings set to delete email from the server as I
Download them. One can delete the bulk email in Outlook 365 by high lighting the first email and
Pressing the shift key and then the last or oldest email high lighting it and pressing the shift key again
And then pressing the delete key to get rid of them. I am not a heavy email user. If this
Has happened to all of the Optimum users in the Greater New York City, when they all try to
Download their old emails again some with slower connections, it will probably bring the
Internet to a stand still in this area with millions of users. Thus I would consider it possibly
A Cyber Attack of unknown origin. Optimum is owned by Altice a Dutch company, so possibly
Somebody outside the USA did something with their servers. That is all that I know.

01/12/20 Sunday 11:50 P.M. I chatted with a relative. I went outside again. I will now shower and clean up. We have a full moon tonight, I think. Also all of this local internet stuff started over 27 years ago with the local high school astronomy club which like to star gaze at night at the local observatory on Milbank Avenue, which I have never visited, but when I first came off www.nantucket.net in December 1983; I lived across the street from it at 100 Milbank Avenue in a small attic apartment, until that April 1984, when I moved for two months to Greenwich Avenue above where the Apple store is now at Grigg street, and then I moved to 700 Steamboat Road on the waterfront for 4.5 years, until I moved into my current residence at 71 Vinci Drive thirty one years ago. Out on Nantucket, they have the Maria Mitchell observatory for star gazers. The Lick observatory is I think in Santa Cruz, California. I once lived three blocks behind the Planetarium at the Natural History Museum in Manhattan. I never visited Santa Cruz in the Canary Islands, but they have two major observatories there. Also in remote areas of Argentina, Chile, and Hawaii they have other observatories. The Vatican even has its own observatory. Also the mirror for the Hubble telescope which has lots of pictures on the internet which mirror happened to have been made in Danbury, Connecticut by either Perkin Elmer or Hughes Satellite https://hubblesite.org/images/gallery . It works plug and play with the Apple late 2012 MacBook Pro and the Apple Imac late 2013, so one can printe from them when the long Brother USB cable is plugged into them, and the Brother laser is turned on with the power strip beneath it. The Dell Wireless printer did not work with them, so I moved it the right side of the living room desk to be used with the HP Windows 10 computer there. 01/03/20 Friday 10:55 P.M. I ate three Oscar Meyer hotdogs with three buns with ketchup and mustard and Cape Cod Wavy Sea Salt potato chips and a 12 ounce glass of www.coke.com Zero Sugar and a small bowl of dry roasted peanuts and a Florida orange and ten Danish butter cookies. I will now go outside, and I will drink another instant coffee. I drink my instant coffee with a packet of artificial sweetener and almond milk. Almond milk does not seem to make me fart. I use 1.5 teaspoons of instant coffee with about 10 ounce of hot water from the Nestle water dispense which is either Poland Spring water of Primo Vermont Spring water and two to three ounces of almond milk. For the hotdogs I prick them with a fork lengthwise on both sides, and I put them in a microwave proof bowl with a plastic microwave lid on it, and I microwave them 2 minutes and 15 seconds. I noticed recently that potato chips have gotten awfully expensive with a lot of the other ordinary food items. The only thing in Greenwich, Connecticut that might be cheap is buy one six pack get two six packs free of various Thomas' English muffins, because they make them locally in Byram in our Bimbo Commercial bakery. As I recall, there is also a Pepperidge Farm facility in Norwalk, where they make a large variety of baked items, and since I think they are owned by Stauffer's Frozen Foods or visa a versa, might make frozen meals up there too. I think I once read, they have some connection too with Campbell's Soup down in Philadelphia area. I do not get to travel much in this area with all of the traffic, so much of what I know is from long term recollection. CIO

I installed the HP wireless laser printer to the lower HP I5 computer on the living room desk. I switched from testing with 007 music to Roy Orbison. All I can figure out is that there is a lot of flight traffic in this area, so possibly somebody from down South showed up with a little bit of Wampum. I will now go outside again. CIO

I then drove down to the Board of Education parking lot. I then sat outside chatting with a Starbucks regular. I then used the bathroom at Starbucks again. I then went by the Stop and Shop at 161 West Putnam Avenue, and I bought three sesame seed bagels for .59 each and three poppy seed bagels for .59 each, a 8 pack of Jimmy Dean frozen sausage, egg, and cheese croissants for $11.99, two 32 ounce Stop and Shop ketchup for $2.59 each, and two 7.5 ounce Cape Cod Sea Salt wavy potato chips for $3 each for $26.71 total. I then returned home. I sat outside. I put away my purchases. I then put the green bags back in the car, and I emptied the garbage and the recycle paper. I then drank in instant coffee outside on "Wolf Watch". When I first saw the Carolina Wolf or the Texas Red Wolf about seven years ago, it said they are moving north with global warming, and they like swampy areas like down by the Byram River. Although they are a little bit bigger than a German Shepard dog, it says on the internet, they can take down a full size cow which is a lot bigger than a person. Over the years on wild animal sightings in this area, all the local authorities say it is part of living out in the wooded areas of New England, so we are basically use to our local wildlife. I have a feeling in the more wilderness areas of our area, there is probably a lot more wild life. All I keep for defense is a nautical "Air Horn". I filed this report. I walked the lower Greenwich Avenue, and I toured the www.apple.com store. I used the bathroom at www.starbucks.com . I suggested to Starbucks, they should have a pay phone like in the north lobby of the Greenwich Train station, where one can call anywhere in the world for a dollar for three minutes. I then went to Whole Foods on East Putnam Avenue, and I bought a five inch plant with thorns with my Whole Foods bar code on my cell phone for $7.19 and .46 tax for $7.65 total. I then went to the Stop and Shop at 161 West Putnam Avenue, and I bought two 4 packs of Jimmy Dean frozen ham, egg, and cheese croissants for $5.99 each four pack, two 12 ounce Sabretts hotdogs for $3.99 each, a package of 8 Stop and Shop hotdog buns for $1.50, and a half gallon of Silk vanilla almond milk for $2.50 for $23.96 total. I then went by the Putnam Shell at 401 West Putnam Avenue, and I bought $9.04 of self service V-Power premium gasoline for a dime a gallon off with my Stop and Shop card for $3.499 a gallon for 2.584 gallons at odometer reading of 120007 miles for 34.8 miles driven since Wednesday December 25, 2019 for 13.468 miles per gallon in local traffic. I then returned home. I moved the Jade plant that is not doing too well to the bathroom bookcase in front of the left side of the Haier television. I put the 5 inch plant with thorns on the right side of the oak dining table. I put away my purchases. I went outside, and I put the green bag back in the car, and I drank an instant coffee. I moved the larger Logitech wireless keyboard and wireless mouse to the Apple Imac late 2013 setup in the bedroom, and I moved the new smaller Logitech wireless keyboard and wireless mouse from there to the Apple Mac Mini late 2012 setup on the desk in the living room. I filed this report. I will now go outside again.

I will eat two Jimmy Dean sausage, egg and cheese biscuits and two toasted English muffins with Smart Balance spread and raspberry jam and a 12 ounce glass of 50% cranberry juice and 50% Vermont Spring water and vitamins and supplements and a 12 ounce cup of brewed hazelnut coffee with a package of artificial sweetener and vanilla almond milk and a bowl of mandarin oranges and pineapple chunks. 01/01/20 Wednesday 12:25 A.M. Happy News Years. I went outside again. Right at midnight, when I was watching a few fire works, a big German Shepard looking dog or wolf crossed the driveway at the entrance to the ice skating rink about a hundred yards away from me. It was large enough, I do not think it was a smaller coy wolf or large coyote, so it might have been a real wolf. I printed out my Microsoft Sunset Income versus Spending report for December 2019, and I have it ready to mail with a fifty cent forever stamp.
